Jackson was the wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals for three seasons. Under Jackson's tutelage in Cincinnati, Chad Johnson and T. J. "Pick and Roll" is an offensive play in which a player stops to screen (block) a defender for the teammate handling the ball and then slips behind the defender to accept a pass as the handler makes a move towards the basket. In the NBA, John Stockton and Karl Malone were a quintessential pick and roll tandem and used this play to great effect in the 1990s. Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire proved to be extremely effective at the pick and roll throughout the 2000s. Respert was a standout at Michigan State. He and point guard Eric Snow combined to form one of the nation's most prolific backcourt tandems for head coach Jud Heathcote's Spartans. Frank Michael Reich Jr. (; ; born December 4, 1961) is an American football coach and former player who is the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). Reich played college football at the University of Maryland and was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 1985 NFL draft; he also played for the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets and Detroit Lions. Reich and Bills starting quarterback Jim Kelly formed one of the longest-tenured backup-and-starter tandems, playing together for nine seasons from 1986 to 1994. For a time, Reich had the distinction of having led his team to the biggest comeback victory ever in both the college and NFL ranks, including a 32-point comeback for the Bills in 1993.

During the 2000-01 seasons, the pair combined for 390 receptions and 4,903 yards, while Smith earned All-Pro honors both years. In 2002, Smith had 80 receptions for 1,027 yards, his seventh consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season. McNulty helped Jacksonville to playoff appearances in 1998 (11-5 record) and in 1999 (14-2 record).

A Pac-10 first-team selection as a junior, Gabriel ranks in the UW career top-10 in five categories, including total blocks (second - 613) and block assists (second - 520).. She also ranked in the top-25 nationally in blocks per game in each of her four seasons at Washington. Sharpe was the first round, seventh overall, draft pick by the Packers in 1988 and had an immediate impact on the team. In his rookie season, he started all sixteen games and caught 55 passes. His sophomore season he led the league with 90 receptions, the first Packer to do so since Don Hutson in 1945, and broke Hutson's records for receptions and receiving yards in a season. Sharpe was known as a tough receiver with strong hands, who was willing to go over the middle to make difficult catches in traffic. A few years later, in 1992, Sharpe and the new quarterback, Brett Favre, teamed up to become one of the top passing tandems in the league. In the final game of that season, Sterling and Favre hooked up for Sharpe's 107th reception of the season which broke the NFL's single-season receptions record, set by Art Monk in 1984.

A football and track star at Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, New Mexico and at the University of Denver, Mahaffey put University of Denver football on the map in 1954. Mahaffey's still name dots Denver's record book. An honorable mention All-Skyline Conference member in 1953, Mahaffey broke out in 1954, rushing for 813 yards and 12 touchdowns while earning All-America and first-team All-Skyline Conference honors. Finishing ninth in the country in rushing yards, he and teammate Fred Tesone formed one of the top rushing tandems in the nation as the two combined for 2,528 yards, outrushing their opponents by over a 2-to-1 margin and helping the Pioneers to a 9–1 record, the first outright conference championship since 1917 and the second-best season in school history.

Fuhr played ten seasons for the Oilers, where he teamed up first with Andy Moog, then Bill Ranford to form one of the most formidable goaltending tandems in history, winning the Stanley Cup four times in five seasons (1983-84 through '87-88). Moog was given the starting job in the 1983 playoffs, and helped lead the Oilers to their first Stanley Cup Finals, though they were swept by the New York Islanders, who captured their fourth straight Stanley Cup. Fuhr was also involved with the infamous goal where Steve Smith scored on his own net to cost the Oilers the '86 playoffs against the Calgary Flames. Fuhr was the team's starting goaltender on the first four teams, but was injured and did not play in the 1990 playoffs, when the Oilers won for the fifth time.

The original Conquistadors were a masked foreign heel team consisting of Puerto Rican wrestlers José Estrada Sr. and José Luis Rivera, billed as being "from somewhere in Latin America," who were used mainly as enhancement talent. They had one pay-per-view appearance, as part of the 10-team elimination match at the Survivor Series 1988, where The Conquistadors and The Powers of Pain were the last two teams left in the ring. The Conquistadors spent the rest of 1988 and 1989 jobbing to established teams, except some rare victories including a win over the Young Stallions, two wins over the Rockers, a win over The Killer Bees, wins over the teams of Terry Taylor and Sam Houston, jobber tag teams Brady Boone and Omar Atlas, and John Latu and Bob Emory, and a victory over The Fabulous Rougeaus in Canada in a heel vs heel match. In 1989, Estrada started to appear on his own as “The Conquistador” while Rivera appeared only sporadically before both men left the WWF.

He was named to 3 Pro Bowls and named All-Pro twice while with the Cardinals. He signed as a free agent by the San Francisco 49ers on April 7, 1993. In 1993, McDonald would again perform at a high level being named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad. During that season, he donated $2,000 for every 49ers victory to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Bay Area, netting $22,000 for those organizations. In 1994, McDonald helped the 49ers win Super Bowl XXIX. That season, McDonald recorded 76 tackles, 2 INTs, 7 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 2 defensive touchdowns while being part of a San Francisco secondary that sent 3 players to the Pro Bowl, SS Tim McDonald, FS Merton Hanks, and NFL Defensive Player of the Year CB Deion Sanders. That season while teaming with free safety Merton Hanks, they would arguably as a tandem, become one of the best safety tandems in NFL history as they combined for 7 Pro Bowls and 5 All-Pro selections from 1994–1998 in 5 seasons respectively. McDonald continued his stellar play throughout his entire 49ers career until he retired after the 1999 season Being named to 3 Pro Bowls and named and 2nd team All-Pro twice.
