But other scholars are instead convinced, that the passage is merely an allegoric pun to religious texts, in which the sun god Râ visits the underworld god Osiris during the middle four hours of the night. Thus, king Pepi II would be taking the role of Râ and Sasenet would take the role of Osiris. The phrase "doing what one desires" would therefore be overrated and misinterpreted.

Some sketches, as well as the appearances of artists like Fear and William S. Burroughs, reflected the increasingly bizarre ideas O'Donoghue had for the show. Obayashi was friends with Minamida who he filmed in commercials for Calpis. Minamida was mostly working television and theater at the time and worried that taking the role of the older woman would have a negative effect on the roles she would be subsequently offered, but still agreed to play the part. The country music singer Kiyohiko Ozaki, who plays Mr. Togo in the film, was cast because he was friends with Obayashi through their shared hobby of horseback riding. Other roles were filled by members of the crew and their families; for example, Nobuhiko Obayashi's daughter Chigumi plays the little girl, and the film's production designer plays the shoe maker.

Weinstein's account of performances given charts those in the 20th century beginning from 1905. Stagings were presented as frequently as every two years in one European or North American venue or another, and they continued through the 1950s bel canto revivals up to the publication of his book in 1971. The opera was rescued from the ornamental excesses and misrepresentations more similar to the baroque style than the bel canto of Bellini when it was sung by Maria Callas in the now- famous 1955 production by Luchino Visconti at La Scala. Contributing to the revivals were Joan Sutherland's taking the role of Amina at Covent Garden in 1961A.

In 1995 the casting director Sara Bilbatúa took advantage of the image Daniel offered in this film as a representative of a disorientated youth to include him in the cast of Éxtasis, where he played a criminal whose best friend (Rober: Javier Bardem) was confused with the lost son of an older man. His next complete film, Suerte, confirmed this profile, playing Toni, a character who robbed banks to start a new life with his girlfriend. In his television works in the series Menudo es mi padre (1997), he changed style, taking the role of an exemplary student. After a cameo in Barrio, Daniel gained notable roles in El grito en el cielo and Rewind.

Rennie became a familiar face on television, taking the role of Harry Lime in The Third Man (1959–65), an Anglo-American syndicated television series very loosely derived from the film. It ran for several years but the schedule meant Rennie had plenty of time off to work on other projects. "Every scene of every show I do for money", he said. At the start of the 1960s, Michael Rennie made his only Broadway appearance in Mary, Mary playing Dirk Winsten, a jaded film star. After two previews, the sophisticated five- character marital comedy written by Jean Kerr and directed by Joseph Anthony opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre on 8 March 1961.

In 1966 Gould- Porter made an appearance in an actual Alfred Hitchcock movie, taking the role of Freddy the Bookseller in Torn Curtain. This was followed with a bit part in Richard Fleisher's 1967 British musical film Doctor Dolittle, but he did not return to acting until 1970, when he made an appearance in another musical, Darling Lili.

Another house, smaller but also lavish, was built on Avenida de los Incas 3260, where it is still standing. In the second half of the 1920s, and until the crisis of 1929, there was a great rise of financial institutions in Argentina. All of them built large parent companies in downtown Buenos Aires, which ended up taking the role of financial city that conserves today. Le Monnier was in charge of the headquarters of the Uruguayan Argentine Bank (Avenida Roque Sáenz Peña nº 501, year 1928) and the neighboring buildings of the Bencich brothers, owners of a construction company (Edificio Bencich, Av. Typically, the characters will have one adventure per year, and campaigns often carry over across generations, with players retiring their character and taking the role of that character's heir. This is quite different from most role-playing games, where one set of characters is played fairly intensively, and there is typically little consideration made of what happens to their family or descendants. The influence of this idea can be seen in the Ars Magica RPG, which also encourages stories taking years or decades to unfold (and which is also set in medieval Europe). The default Pendragon setting is a pastiche of actual fifth- and sixth-century British history, high medieval history (10th to 15th centuries), and Arthurian legend.
"Alvedansen" (English: "The elf dance") was the Norwegian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, performed in Norwegian by Christine Guldbrandsen. This was the first time since the 1998 entry and the introduction of the "free language rule" that the Norwegian entry had not been performed entirely in English, although an English recording of the song was made five years later. The song was originally intended to be released on Guldbrandsen's third album, however her record company (and Norwegian television) persuaded her to enter it in the Melodi Grand Prix instead. The song is a ballad, with Guldbrandsen taking the role of an elf and attempting to seduce her listener into joining her in a dance.

The main activity in co-counselling involves participants arranging to meet regularly in pairs to give each other peer-to- peer counselling, in turn taking the role of counsellor and client, with equal amounts of time allocated to each. Co-counselling functions by giving people an opportunity to work on whatever issues they choose with the accepting support of another person. The person in the role of counsellor acts as a facilitator to the client, sometimes as a third-party observer and sometimes as a second-party confidant. While co-counselling is sometimes practiced outside a formal organisation, formal co-counselling organisations have developed leadership and support structures, including trainings and retreats.

Brightheart was mentored by Whitestorm, who also mentored her cousin Sandstorm, and had since taken Sandstorm's grandson Jayfeather as an apprentice, although this was only temporary due to Jayfeather later taking the role of medicine cat. She appears to have been hurt by this, likely due to her being desperate to prove to herself and the Clan that she can still function as well as a normal warrior. Despite Jaypaw's prickly attitude towards her during his apprenticeship, he is able to sense her feelings and is sympathetically warmer towards her upon becoming a medicine cat.

In May 1872 Johanna fulfilled a promise to her uncle Richard Wagner, singing alto in the solo quartet in the performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the foundation-stone laying of the Bayreuth Festspielhaus. She also participated in the first Bayreuth Festival of 1876, taking the role of Schwertleite in Die Walküre and First Norn in Götterdämmerung in the original first full production of Der Ring des Nibelungen. She was not now capable of Brünnhild as originally intended, but as the Valkyr, her dramatic control of the scenes, and the energy she infused into them, in rehearsal and performance, realised the composer's true intentions, and set a precedent which was later imitated. Her Norn similarly was invested with her full dramatic resources.
The nat festival starts with paying respect to and the invocation to the nat on the first and second days, in which a spirit medium taking the role of an announcer sings a specially designated song () for the nat, similar to ode, which retells the life of the nat. The Burmese traditional orchestra called 'Hsaing waing' plays the nat music and the seemingly possessed medium dances to the music. Doors began to open for him ahead of the 2016 season with Mitchell leaving after his short-term contract had expired and Coles and Matu'u both being struck down by injury in pre-season. Apisai was left temporarily as the 'Canes first choice number 2 and debuted in week 1 of the season, a 52-10 defeat away to the .
Moving the Goalposts, despite the gloomy prognosis of Ace's doctors, gave her character Mattie a new lease of life, charting the frustrations, comedy and medical implausibility of her intellectual and physical survival beyond the predictions of concerned consultants. With Cheryl Campbell taking the role of Mattie for the stage, and directed by Nancy Meckler, it was a triumph of wit over malady. Ace joined Campbell and Meckler on to the stage to discuss the process of writing and realising the play. Jude Kelly, who chaired the discussion as one her last acts as departing Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre, gave warm praise to the honesty and resilience of Ace's writing, citing her recognition of its truth through her own experience with a family member.

However, after several failures, the realization he had been a poor father to his son Dr. Regal, and taking the role of a surrogate father for Baryl, Wily reformed at the conclusion of Mega Man Battle Network 6 and worked alongside Lan's father for the remainder of the series. Wily appears in the Wily Capsule from Mega Man 7 as an Assist Trophy in the crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He is able to be defeated, upon which he will beg for mercy as he always does when defeated in the original games.
Left 4 Dead is a series of cooperative first-person shooter survival horror video games developed by Valve. Set in the days after a pandemic outbreak of a viral strain transforming people into zombie-like feral creatures, the games follow the adventures of four survivors attempting to reach safe houses and military rescue while fending off the attacking hordes. The games encourage cooperative play between up to four players, each taking the role of one of the survivor characters and the computer controlling any unassigned characters. Players use a combination of melee weapons, firearms, and thrown objects to fend off attacks from the bulk of the infected creatures, while using an assortment of healing items to keep their group alive.
Examples would be "Human beings typically have two eyes, two ears, two hands, two feet", or "The world has a ground and a sky" or "Plants and animals come in a wide variety of sizes and colors" or "I am conscious and alive right now". These are all the absolutely most obvious sorts of claims that one could possibly make; and, said Reid and Moore, these are the claims that make up common sense. This view can be seen as either a version of foundationalism, with common sense statements taking the role of basic statements, or as a version of Coherentism. In this case, commonsense statements are statements that are so crucial to keeping the account coherent that they are all but impossible to deny.
Rockstar announced Bully in May 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox with an original expected release date of October 2005. Early information released by Take-Two Interactive seemed to indicate that the player would be taking the role of a bully, and screenshots printed in Electronic Gaming Monthly showed the player-controlled antagonist administering a "swirlie" and throwing a punch at another student. However, the tone of the final game was different, with the player in the role of a problem student who stood up to and fought back against bullies, in effect, bullying on behalf of the victims, or in self-defense. The PlayStation 2 version of the game uses an advanced Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas engine through RenderWare.
He later joined the cast of Clocking Off, written by Paul Abbott. In 1996, he briefly appeared as a policeman in Jimmy McGovern's one-off drama for ITV Hillsborough, based on the 1989 Hillsborough disaster. In 1999, he appeared in an episode of Queer As Folk, as a Doctor Who-obsessed fan, and had a one-night stand with Vince, one of the protagonists, before taking the role of Toyah Battersby's (Georgia Taylor) rapist Phil Simmonds on the long-running ITV soap opera Coronation Street in 2000. In 2004, Deam played Detective Sergeant Hanken in "In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner", an episode of The Inspector Lynley Mysteries In January 2007, he took part in The Afternoon Play, a daytime BBC drama series consisting of short stories.
Bortolami began his playing career with the team of his native Padua, making his debut in the second row aged just 18. In the summer of 2006 he joined English Premiership side Gloucester Rugby when he was considered by many top judges to be one of the best players in the world around the time, and stepped straight into the starting team for their first game of the season, immediately taking the role of captain. He made a formidable partnership with Alex Brown and shared captaincy with Peter Buxton. Due to injuries and World Cup commitments, the 2007–08 season wasn't as consistent and he lost the Italian captaincy to Italian No. 8 Sergio Parisse, but continued to put in powerful performances for Gloucester.
He also developed a reputation as an advisor to other houses and younger members of the growing ballroom scene, which had begun to network to cities across the United States. By the mid-1990s, Hector legally changed his name to Hector Xtravaganza, further demonstrating his association with the House as his chosen surrogate family and his self-created identity. He was featured in the 1996 documentary film “Mirror, Mirror” and the 2006 documentary “How Do I Look” directed by Wolfgang Busch. In 2004, Hector took the honorary title of House Grandfather, with former Madonna dancer and choreographer Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza taking the role of House Father. Hector had the words “Grandfather” and “Xtravaganza” tattooed on his forearms and frequently posed for photos displaying the inked title.
A 2 1/2 hour (approximately 4 hours with commercials) TV miniseries produced by Stewart Mackinnon and Mark Sennet, directed by Mick Garris and with teleplay by screenwriter Matt Venne aired on A&E; in December 2011. Irish actor Pierce Brosnan plays Mike Noonan, with Broadway actress Anika Noni Rose taking the role of Sara Tidwell. Filming took place in and around Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in August and September 2011. The miniseries changes Sara's son Kito to a daughter named Kisha for unknown reasons, and there is no reference to the genealogy seen in the book, as Mike is well aware that his grandfather lived in Dark Score Lake, but was not aware of the fact that his grandfather had been one of the men who raped Sara.
Micky MacPherson, Simon Parsons and Tony Bibby have backgrounds in TV commercial production, advertising, and children's TV. Producers, MacPherson and Parsons developed the format for the series, drawing inspiration from Bibby's real aunt whom he used to visit in Liverpool as a child. The producers added the extra dimension of enchanting storytelling wrapped around a genuine historical artefact, with Plum Film's Production Executive Tina Foster, and Development Consultant Becky Lloyd both attached to the project from early development to series production. Series one and two are directed by Simon Hynd, with Morag McKinnon directing the Mayan episodes in series two. Digital Production Designer John Gosler, directed and hand painted the unique background artwork, with children's television writer Polly Churchill taking the role of Head Writer for both series, overseeing all 45 episodes.
Burk founded the journal Contemporary European History in 1992, taking the role of editor for the first 13 years. In the 1980s, with two colleagues she founded The Historians' Press which ran for 25 years. In addition to her main field of research, Burk is a freelance writer on wine and has a diploma in wine and spirits from the London Wine & Spirit Education Trust. In October 2017, Burk discussed the Congress of Vienna on BBC Radio 4's In Our Time and has previously spoken on the programme about Thomas Paine's Common Sense pamphlet (2016), the California Gold Rush (2015), the War of 1812 (2013), Custer's last stand (2011), Thomas Edison (2010), Thoreau and the American Idyll (2009), the Statue of Liberty (2008) and the Pilgrim Fathers (2007).
The attitudes of the two central characters in this cartoon short - Porky Pig and an unnamed bear - form the main plot of this Aesop fable adaptation, with Porky taking the role of the tireless, hard-working ant and the bear the role of the grasshopper, the lazy indignant who would rather do nothing. The short opens on Porky plowing his land, whistling and singing a happy, carefree song, "As Ye Sow So Shall Ye Reap," to the tune of "The Girl With The Pigtails In Her Hair". The animals similarly work hard, with several spot gags providing these examples. The scene then pans over to the neighbor's farm, where a lazy bear is strumming on his ukulele, the song "Working Can Wait" extolling the virtues of not having to work and just relax.
It was the first wargame to cover the entire conflict depicted in the story (starting from the Fellowship's departure from Rivendell), as opposed to a single battle from it. The game was primarily intended to be played by two players, with the Fellowship player taking the side of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth and the Dark Power player controlling the forces of Sauron and his subordinates. The published game also had abbreviated rules for a three-player version with one player taking the role of Saruman; a fuller version of these rules was printed in issue #37 of Moves magazine. Like most SPI wargames, it is played on a map with a hex grid imposed upon it to regulate movement, using small cardboard counters to represent the units.
He received a BSc at Victoria University of Wellington in 1976, and an Honours, 1st Class from the same institution in 1977; his doctorate in 1979 is also from Victoria University, under the direction of Brian Halton. Banwell relocated to Ohio State University between 1979–1980 to undertake a post-doctoral fellowship before taking on the role of Senior teaching Fellow at the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Adelaide until 1981. Banwell then returned to New Zealand taking the role of Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Auckland until 1986, when he returned to Australia to take a similar role at the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Melbourne. In 1995 as an Associate Professor he moved to the Australian National University as a Senior Fellow.
Anne Azéma's special field is secular/vernacular song of France and Provence in the Middle Ages. She shared a "Grand Prix du Disque" for her role as Iseult in the Boston Camerata's recording of Tristan and Iseult. Four solo recital albums, The Unicorn, The Game of Love, Provence Mystique and Etoile du Nord also document her original work in this area. Ms. Azéma is a founding member of the Camerata Mediterranea, touring with them internationally and appearing on all of their CDs (Edison Prize) She has also been prominent in many of the Boston Camerata's American music projects, taking the role of Mother Ann Lee of the Shakers in the dance-and-music theater work "Borrowed Light" (premiered in 2004) by Finnish choreographer Tero Saarinen and Azéma's husband, Camerata director emeritus Joel Cohen.
On the other hand, the destructive capabilities of the hippopotamus towards useful boats led to it also being seen as a force of chaos, and so it also became associated with the god of disorder, Seth. Though normally depicted as a man with the head of the mysterious "sha" animal, in scenes of the battles between Seth and Horus, Seth can sometimes be shown in hippopotamus form, with Horus standing on a papyrus raft and spearing him with a harpoon. This victory of Horus over Seth was symbolically re-enacted during royal hunting expeditions, with the king taking the role of Horus, and a wild hippopotamus embodying Seth. The king's successful slaughter of the hippopotamus thus connected his martial prowess to that of Horus himself, demonstrating his right to be king.
Although prominent actors, including Christopher Lee and Kirk Douglas, expressed interest in taking the role of Gwynplaine in a hypothetical remake, there has been no American film adaptation of The Man Who Laughs in the sound era; however, there have been three adaptations by European directors. Italian director Sergio Corbucci's 1966 version, L'Uomo che ride (released in the United States as The Man Who Laughs, but in France as L'Imposture des Borgia) substantially altered the plot and setting, placing the events in Italy and replacing the court of King James II with that of the House of Borgia. Jean Kerchbron directed a three-part French television film adaptation, L'Homme qui rit, in 1971. Philippe Bouclet and Delphine Desyeux star as Gwynplaine and Dea; Philippe Clay appeared as Barkilphedro.
The scene then shifts to the police officer who was guarding Chris who, after waking from a nap, enters Chris's room and finds her sleeping peacefully; after checking in on Chris, the officer listens to a radio broadcast that mentions the shopkeepers Jason had murdered earlier in the book, but makes no reference to any events having transpired at Higgins Haven. Dana Kimmell has said that she only took the role of Chris due to the paycheck, stating she felt uncomfortable working on the movie, persuading executive producer Frank Mancuso to alter or remove several scenes involving gratuitous sexual or violent material.Fangoria #62 Her reason for taking the role is similar to that of Ted White taking the role of Jason in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
In his late teen years he began a stage career with Winnipeg’s new Rainbow Stage summer theatre company, performing in “Guys and Dolls”, “Annie Get Your Gun” and taking the role of Lieutenant Cable in “South Pacific”. Then in 1957 Ettore Mazzoleni heard him sing at the Manitoba Music Festival and a scholarship sent him to The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. While studying at the conservatory, Jeffrey took the tenor role in the Canadian premiere of Michael Tippett’s “A Child of Our Time”, under Mazzoleni’s direction, at the University of Toronto’s Convocation Hall. He also undertook classical repertoire with choirs throughout Ontario, including the tenor roles in Handel’s “Messiah” and Mendelssohn’s “Elija”, in Sudbury. In 1958 he won the Kiwanis Music Festival Award in the ‘Male Lieder’ category, for a performance at Eaton Auditorium.
Due to his involvement in the film, Michael Keaton's role in the film Birdman directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu has been compared to Keaton's own experiences as Batman. Many people have come to the conclusion that the film is a reflection of Michael Keaton's life post-Batman, as the film itself focuses on a struggling, aging actor who is best known for having played a winged superhero earlier in his career. When Inarritu contacted Keaton about taking the role of Riggan, Keaton asked him if he was making fun of him for playing Batman. Despite comparisons between Riggan and Keaton and many people believing that the role was taken by the actor to let out frustration at the role, Keaton has claimed that he loves talking about his time as Batman, and is extremely grateful for the role.
This film is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale in a modern setting with Mary Santiago, a high school senior with ambitions of becoming a dancer, taking the role of Cinderella. Tami, Mary's only friend serves as the fairy godmother in the film. The cruel, self- obsessed, snobby, and washed-up pop singer Dominique Blatt takes the role of the stepmother, even though she is just her legal guardian and Mary's mother was one of Dominique's dancers when she died; Dominique took Mary in as her legal guardian and turned her into the hired help. The aggressive, extremely obsessed, and equally snobby Britt and air-headed Bree serve as the two stepsisters, and Joey Parker, now a famous celebrity and pop star has returned to school for his senior year and to remember why he started dancing, acts as Prince Charming.
Thomas Sutcliffe of The Independent said of the series; "When you start this job, you never think you're going to get bored," said one of the lumpy-jacketed characters in Bodyguards. It was a remark that might have been designed to extract a moan of sympathy from television reviewers, coming, as it did, halfway through this dim and derivative thriller, one of those professionals-with-guns series that give a distinguished theatrical actor the opportunity to look steely and say "shit". In this case, the man in question is John Shrapnel, taking the role of the sternly parental head of a police protection unit. His charges are played by Louise Lombard and Sean Pertwee, as well as disposable cannon-fodder who can be dispatched relatively early in the story to demonstrate that theirs is not just a nine-to-five job.
"Drawing Down the Moon" is also the title of a book by National Public Radio reporter, Margot Adler— Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America Today—originally published in 1979. Adler writes: > ...in this ritual, one of the most serious and beautiful in the modern > Craft, the priest invokes into the priestess (or, depending on your point of > view, she evokes from within herself) the Goddess or Triple Goddess, > symbolized by the phases of the moon. She is known by a thousand names, and > among them were those I had used as a child. In some Craft rituals the > priestess goes into a trance and speaks; in other traditions the ritual is a > more formal dramatic dialogue, often of intense beauty, in which, again, the > priestess speaks, taking the role of the Goddess.
Jørn Lande also announced in an interview that a new Allen/Lande album was in the works but this time with songwriting and production made by former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki, replacing Magnus Karlsson. On 24 July 2013, Timo Tolkki also confirmed the role in the project via his Facebook page.. The album The Great Divide was released on 17 October in Europe and 21 October 2014 in North America. This time, Lande has also contributed with some vocal melodies and lyrics to the songs. In 2014, Lande provided lead vocals for songs Lightbringer and Thornmail for the fictional League of Legends band, Pentakill (named after the rare occurrence of one player defeating all five of the enemy team in quick succession) taking the role of Karthus, a lich that serves as one of the playable characters in the game.
On 28 July 2011, Arnaud Tsamere and Jérémy Ferrari (two comedians from the show On n'demande qu'à en rire) announced on their Facebook account that they will participate in a humour sketch together on the show. Two episodes later, the comedy duo preferred to withdraw to focus on their respective solo careers. They are replaced by Florian Gazan, taking the role of mentalist. Preferring to remain on France Télévisions who impose an exclusivity clause, in 2006 he left the presentation of the magazine he hosted on Paris Première called Ça balance à Paris leaving his place to Pierre Lescure. On 21 October 2006, Christine Bravo recovered "her" slot on Saturday primetime for a version of On a tout essayé without Laurent Ruquier who was too busy with all of his other activities: On a tout essayé... sans le patron.
Since grandparents cannot know the length of their own life course, grandparents invest differentially in the children of those children who they deem most likely to support them in old age. Hechter’s engagement in value theory in general, and the measurement of values in particular, is shown in yet another paper, 'Prediction vs Explanation in the Measurement of Values' in the European Sociological Review, where rational action is explored from different measurement angles. In taking the role of values seriously as motivating factors in assessing social behavior, the authors construct a parallel factorial survey method to the more commonly used descriptive survey in value measurements. This method is based on an indirect form of measurement (factorial surveys) in that respondents have to make choices about a series of hypothetical vignettes, rather than responding to direct questions.
These Best Friend dolls share the collections of the main characters, but each has her own book, and additional products were marketed under their names. However, in May 2014, American Girl announced that Ruthie, along with Ivy, Cécile and Marie-Grace, will be retired from their historical roster, citing business reasons as they decided "to move away from the character-friend strategy within the line". A reboot of the Historical Characters line dubbed as BeForever was launched in August 2014, complete with redesigned outfits, a two-volume compilation of previously-released books, and a "Journey Book" for each character, with players taking the role of a present-day girl who found her way to the past and met up with one of the Historical girls. The line also coincided with the relaunch of Samantha Parkington, whose collection was previously discontinued in 2008.
Tomás, who also spends a lot of time communicating with his followers on his personal Instagram, began his television career working on Alma Pirata (2006), playing Nicolás Vázquez in his childhood, with whom he later returned to work in Casi Angeles (2007-2008), carrying out the role of Cristobal, Nicolás' little son, and also formed part of 51 functions in the Teatro Gran Rex with the cast in 2007. Then, he continued working for Ideas del Sur in Consentidos (2009-2010), taking the role of Benjamín, a very flirtatious boy and the small gallant of his school. In 2011, he made an appearance on Peter Punk, a program broadcast on Disney XD. Tomás acted in multiple TV programs broadcast on Tv Pública, such as "La Viuda De Rafael" (2012), "C.A.P.O.S" (2012-2013) and "El Mal Menor" (2015-2016).
The best known track is "Outside of a Small Circle of Friends", a sarcastic jab at the apathetic nature of people in certain situations, at its base the story of the Murder of Kitty Genovese in New York City (which numerous people witnessed, doing nothing to help), set to a Dixieland backing. The mention of marijuana in one verse was misinterpreted, and its release as a single failed to do anything on the charts as it was banned from radio play by many stations. "The Party" savaged high-class snobs, with Ochs taking the role of a lounge pianist, observing the ridiculous nature of their gatherings. "Flower Lady" was a six- minute narrative about contrasting characters in the city, with each anecdote having one thing in common; everyone ignores the poor woman trying to sell her flowers.
By winning the Royal Rumble match, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin won the right to face Shawn Michaels for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XIV. Mike Tyson's presence in the director's box was revealed the following night to be because he was taking the role of special guest referee for the event. Following an altercation with Austin, however, he was changed to special enforcer and soon allied with D-Generation X. At WrestleMania, though, Tyson showed his true colors and stepped in when the referee was knocked down making the three-count for Austin which many see as the official genesis for the "Attitude Era" and WWF's resurging dominance over chief rivals World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During his match with The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels suffered a severe back injury when he took a back body drop off of the casket, landing on his tailbone on the casket's outer mid-section.
The team developed a habit of conceding late goals and following the defeat to Sunderland, Derby conceded late winners or equalisers in seven games between late December and late January, dropping seven points from games they had been winning or drawing. Many at the club had in fact already accepted relegation by the end of December. Jewell was busy in the January transfer window, selling several players and bringing eight new players in, namely Everton defender Alan Stubbs, Argentine striker Emanuel Villa, ex-England international defender Danny Mills on loan from Manchester City, Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage, French winger Laurent Robert, Tottenham's Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly on loan, Gençlerbirliği's Mile Sterjovski and Rangers goalkeeper Roy Carroll. On 28 January, it was announced that Derby had been purchased by American group General Sports and Entertainment, with Tom Glick taking the role of new President and Chief Executive.
Her best-known voice roles include Dragon Ball, Madeline (taking the role of the lead character from Tracey Lee Smyth in 1995 and holding on to it until My Fair Madeline in 2002, in which the role was passed on to Chantal Strand), the season three version of X-23 in X-Men: Evolution, young AndrAIa in ReBoot, Emmy in the PBS children's animated series Dragon Tales and Isabelle in Finley the Fire Engine. Libman is currently voicing Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; Cylindria in Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures; and Maya in Maya the Bee. She has found a large following of fans in the bronies, the teenage and adult fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The Amiga and Atari ST versions of Mega-Lo-Mania, as developed by Sensible Software and published by Image Works, began development in November 1989, and were released in the Spring of 1991 for the Amiga and Atari ST; a DOS version wasn't planned at this stage in development. In a January 1991 issue of British gaming magazine The One, The One interviewed team members from Sensible Software for information regarding Mega-Lo-Mania's development in a pre-release interview. Mega-Lo-Mania was originally conceived under the title Alien Empire and later My Little Warhead, but these names were scrapped in lieu of the final title of Mega-Lo-Mania. The game's original concept had the player taking the role of an operator of a spaceship who needed to combat robots located on an island, with the island being split into 16 sections.
In March 2010 the show was revived for a six- month national tour produced by Bruce James Productions Limited and written by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower, adapting scenes and storylines from episodes of the television series including A Night Not To Remember and Maplin Intercontinental. The audience were treated as campers during scenes involving camp entertainment which included musical numbers and audience participation. The production starred two members of the original cast, Barry Howard, reprising his role of Barry Stuart-Hargreaves, and Nikki Kelly, originally Sylvia, taking the role of Yvonne Stuart-Hargreaves. The tour also starred Peter Amory as Jeffrey Fairbrother, Abigail Finley as Peggy Ollerenshaw, Rebecca Bainbridge as Gladys Pugh, Damian Williams as Ted Bovis, Ben Roddy as Spike Dixon, Richard Colson as William Partridge, Andrew Fettes as Fred Quilley, Kate Burrell as Sylvia Garnsey, Lauren Harrison as Betty Whistler and Carrie Laurence as Tracey Bentwood.
After this, Fraser made her career in the US. She returned to classical repertoire in 1913, taking the role of Good- Dedes in a production of Everyman at the New York Children's Theater. She remained in the US for the duration of the First World War, and, in the words of the ODNB, "by this time in her forties, carved out a niche for herself in New York playing the many middle-aged matrons who populate turn-of-the-century melodramas". She also appeared in comedy, including nearly a year as Mrs Martha Van Zile in Polly With a Past, by George Middleton and Guy Bolton, at the Belasco Theatre in 1917–18. Her post-war roles included Mrs Morland in Barrie's Mary Rose (1920), Mrs Smallwood in The Enchanted Cottage, by Arthur Pinero (1923), and Mrs Considine in Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, by St John Ervine (1923).
Crowden had a long theatrical career, most notably at Laurence Olivier's National Theatre where he performed as The Player King in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the play by Tom Stoppard. He occasionally played mad scientists in film, taking the role of Doctor Millar in the Mick Travis films of director Lindsay Anderson, O Lucky Man! (1973) and Britannia Hospital (1982) and also playing the sinister Doctor Smiles in the film of Michael Moorcock's first Jerry Cornelius novel, The Final Programme (1973). He also played the eccentric history master in Anderson's if.... (1968). In 1970, he appeared in the popular Thames Television series Callan as The Groper, a de-registered doctor, who had been in Wormwood Scrubs called on by Callan, when unofficial medical assistance was required (e.g. Series 3, "A Village Called G" and likely others between 1967–73 though some are now lost).
He found that in cases of sexual abuse, children often misinterpreted the emotional responses of adults and responded to them by becoming passive toward the adult. The child developed an "anxiety-fear-ridden identification" with the adult, as well as "introjection of the guilt feelings of the adult": > "The same anxiety, however, if it reaches a certain maximum, compels them to > subordinate themselves like automata to the will of the aggressor, to divine > each one of his desires and to gratify these; completely oblivious of > themselves they identify themselves with the aggressor." Ferenczi also argued that a child's tender love for a caretaker often involves a fantasy of "taking the role of mother to the adult". In what he identified as the "terrorism of suffering", the child has a "compulsion" to right the wrongs of the family by taking on responsibilities that are far beyond the child's maturity level.
Tropico is a construction and management simulation video game developed by PopTop Software and published by Gathering of Developers in April 2001. Feral Interactive has developed and published a number of the games in the series for Mac OS X. The games see the player taking the role of "El Presidente", who rules a fictional island country in the Caribbean named Tropico during the Cold War era and beyond. The game is tongue-in-cheek in its presentation of semi-democratic banana republics, using a great deal of humor while still referencing such topics as totalitarianism, electoral fraud, and the interventions of powerful companies (United Fruit is implied) and the Cold War superpowers (the United States and Soviet Union). This is similar to the previous 8bit Game Dictator by DK'Tronics, except in Dictator the success is measured by the amount you put away in your Swiss bank account, which is an offshore bank account.
The distinction made by Unicode between character and glyph variant is somewhat problematic in the case of the runes; the reason is the high degree of variation of letter shapes in historical inscriptions, with many "characters" appearing in highly variant shapes, and many specific shapes taking the role of a number of different characters over the period of runic use (roughly the 3rd to 14th centuries AD). The division between Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark and Anglo-Saxon runes are well-established and useful categories, but they are connected by a continuum of gradual development, inscriptions using a mixture of older and newer forms of runes, etc. For this reason, the runic Unicode block is of very limited usefulness in representing of historical inscriptions and is better suited for contemporary runic writing than for palaeographic purposes. The original publication of the Unicode standard is explicitly aware of these problems, and of the compromises necessary regarding the "character / glyph" dichotomy.
Metropolitan Opera House on 39th St, where The Emperor Jones premiered on January 7, 1933 The Emperor Jones had its world premiere on January 7, 1933, at the Metropolitan Opera with Lawrence Tibbett in the title role and was also broadcast live on radio. Although both Tibbett and Pearl Besuner used blackface for their roles, the dancers were from Hemsley Winfield's New Negro Art Theater, with Winfield himself taking the role of the Witch Doctor. Initially the Met had wanted to use white dancers in black makeup, but backed down when Tibbett threatened to quit the production unless Winfield and his troupe performed. However, the Met billed the ensemble as the "Hemsley Winfield Ballet" instead of its real name and apart from Winfield did not credit any of the other dancers by name on the playbill.Hurwitt (2004) p. 895Nash, Joe (2001) The premiere performance was conducted by Tullio Serafin and directed by Alexander Sanine.
From that moment, she began her collaboration with the Spanish musical group "Fangoria", first to participate in the video directed by Martín Sastre "The hand in the fire" and later to be performance of the group formed by Alaska and Nacho Canut. In 2008, together with her husband, Israel Cotes, she embarked on her new project, the opening of a new gallery space in Madrid: La Fresh Gallery, taking the role of partner and artistic director. She made the first exhibitions of young artists, such as Alberto de las Heras or Nacho Torra, and she managed to ensure that already established artists participated for the first time in the gallery circuit, as is the case of Juan Gatti, or Fabio McNamara. La Fresh Gallery is currently considered a hub for the meeting of artists, musicians, filmmakers, celebrities and representatives of the cultural world and of Spanish "entertainment", turning their already famous openings into a social event.
Temple declined the role of Luiz in the next Gilbert and Sullivan opera, The Gondoliers, when it opened at the Savoy in December 1889, but in February 1890 he was one of the replacements rushed to New York for the restaging of The Gondoliers at Palmer's Theatre, taking the role of Giuseppe. Before that he appeared in Trial by Jury and again in Cox and Box and made his debut in music hall. He later appeared in The Gondoliers on tour in the English provinces. The Manchester Guardian, 24 June 1890, p. 8 In July 1890, he left the company again to pursue a directing career. Scott appeared in the small part of Michael Bodkin in the film Nora, with Ewan McGregor, and in a television adaptation of Henry James's The American, alongside Diana Rigg and Matthew Modine, before making his London theatre debut in Conor McPherson's Dublin Carol with Brian Cox at the Royal Court Theatre. He was then cast in the BAFTA-winning drama Longitude, opposite Michael Gambon, and the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.
Ashton's first television break was taking the role of Fanny Cornforth opposite Oliver Reed in Ken Russell's Danté's Inferno (1967), a film in the Omnibus series on the life of Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The part later led to a small role in Russell's 1971 film The Devils. In 1970, Ashton's chirpy, blonde persona found her understudying Barbara Windsor in the Ned Sherrin-produced musical Sing a Rude Song, based on the life of music hall singer Marie Lloyd; she successfully took the lead role when Windsor was struck down with laryngitis. Ashton played numerous TV roles; credits include: On the Buses (1971) - subsequently making memorable appearances in two spin- off films; The Benny Hill Show (1972–80); Both Ends Meet (1972, with Dora Bryan); Don't Drink the Water (1975, an On the Buses spin-off); Yus, My Dear (1976, with Arthur Mullard), Rooms (1977); Only When I Laugh (1980, with James Bolam); The Gaffer (1981–83, with Bill Maynard), Tripper's Day (1984, with Leonard Rossiter)and The Beer Hunter Minder Episode 1980 (with Dennis Waterman, George Cole).
Soprano helicon in E A Soprano Helicon (in E) is a coiled brass instrument from the helicon family. The design of the modern Soprano Helicon takes acoustical advantage of the helicon's easy blowing, but is not simply another circular Petite Bugle or Soprano Cornet. The helicon clearly has a larger bore and wider tapered conical tube with a large bell for the instrument of its size. The pitch of E4 was deliberately chosen, so that musicians can easily play the soprano line within the middle register of the instrument going mostly up to G5. E4 was also chosen for its open and piercing nature within the pitched bass winds since it was intended for the Soprano Helicon to become a first and leading voice of the family (speaking in terminology of the band, taking the role of 1st Flugelhorn or 1st Cornet and not the role of Petite Bugle, or Soprano Cornet). The crew of Melton’s Development Department, led by Ferdinand Kleinschmidt and Andreas Gambs made the first prototype in the beginning of May 2006.
Capp also was involved with the Sister Kenny Foundation, which pioneered new treatments for polio in the 1940s. Serving in his capacity as honorary chairman, Capp made public appearances on its behalf for years, contributed free artwork for its annual fundraising appeals, and entertained crippled and paraplegic children in children's hospitals with inspirational pep talks, humorous stories, and sketches.Letters of Note: Dear Chip... (Columbus Hospital, 28 May 1964) In 1940, an RKO movie adaptation starred Granville Owen (later known as Jeff York) as Li'l Abner, with Buster Keaton taking the role of Lonesome Polecat, and featuring a title song with lyrics by Milton Berle. A successful musical comedy adaptation of the strip opened on Broadway at the St. James Theater on November 15, 1956, and had a long run of 693 performances, followed by a nationwide tour. The stage musical, with music and lyrics by Gene de Paul and Johnny Mercer, was adapted into a Technicolor motion picture at Paramount in 1959 by producer Norman Panama and director Melvin Frank, with a score by Nelson Riddle.
During production of the third book, Konietzko and DiMartino received a call from actor Henry Rollins, who was interested in taking the role of Zaheer and asked several questions regarding the role before auditioning and being cast.Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, Katie Mattila: The Legend of Korra: Book 3: Change, audio commentary to the Blu-ray version of season 3, episode 6 The two also noted that Rollins took the role very seriously, and was baffled when the character took on a more comedic role during a cameo in the Book Four episode "Remembrances".Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, Katie Mattila: The Legend of Korra: Book 4: Balance, audio commentary to the Blu-ray version of season 4, episode 8 Zaheer was notably the first antagonist to survive the season he served as the primary threat in, a decision DiMartino and Konietzko made early on so that they might use him in the final season. Janet Varney mentioned that in the recording booth for the episode "Beyond the Wilds", Rollins recorded his part in a dark corner of the room, making him look intimidating to Varney and inadvertently helping her accurately portray Korra's fear of Zaheer.
Ostensibly a bluegrass band, The Dixie Bee-Liners played a wide variety of acoustic music, liberally cherry-picking influence from traditional bluegrass, newgrass, old-time string band music, as well as west-coast country, country rock, 60's British invasion, surf music, Celtic, rhythm & blues, punk, ska, and English folk-rock bands. In mid-2012 the band revealed in an interview with Bluegrass Today that they were evolving their sound, and expanding their lineup to include drums and electric instrumentation, but the project was never completed, and they split at the end of the year. Buddy Woodward and Brandi Hart typically wrote all of the band's material—with Woodward also taking the role of arranger and producer—though they occasionally co-wrote with various band members, as well as Blue Highway's Tim Stafford, Jon Weisberger, and Ken Stringfellow of the American alternative rock band The Posies. In addition to standardized bluegrass instrumentation, the band were known to incorporate alternate guitar tunings, claw-hammer banjo, dulcimer, bouzouki, dobro, Dojo, harmonica, chanter, 12-string guitar, drums, electric guitar, pedal steel guitar, cello, Mellotron, harpsichord, and other keyboard instruments as inspiration struck them.

In Uncle Fred in the Springtime, when we next meet him, he cons slow-minded Lord Bosham out of his wallet just for the sake of it, and heads merrily down to Blandings Castle in the guise of Sir Roderick Glossop, with Pongo taking the role of his nephew and secretary, Basil. While there, he wraps up the affairs of Polly and her man, and Pongo's money worries, with a panache only Gally himself could rival; he even avoids his wife finding out he has left home while she was away (tending her sick mother in the South of France), despite the wrath of his niece Valerie. He has also masqueraded as Major Brabazon-Plank in Uncle Dynamite, the famed explorer, and as his older brother, a mining engineer. (In the argot of the English public school, the miner is Brabazon-Plank Major and the major is Brabazon-Plank Minor.) His other exploits include shooting an old classmate's hat off with a Brazil nut with the precision of an Amazonian hunter (in Cocktail Time), and happily breaking up an engagement between his nephew Pongo and the ghastly Hermione Bostock (in Uncle Dynamite).
Following the game's release on the PlayStation 3, the same year on 13 August Codemasters announced a sequel entitled Overlord II to be released for all three platforms to be released sometime in 2009. According to developers, the game "massively increases the scope of the original concept" while taking the role of a different Overlord due to the events in the story of Raising Hell, continuing where the last game finished with a new "Roman-inspired" prime foe. Control over minions will also be expanded allowing to do other tasks like "riding mounts, using war machines and sailing warships" In the same announcement for the official sequel were plans for a spin-off for the Wii entitled Overlord: Dark Legend to feature a new Overlord although plot continuity with the main series has yet to be explained but is to establish "the idea that there have been a series of Overlords throughout time". Being developed for the Wii, it has motion controls implemented such as "plucking a minion from the horde, holding him by the neck and shaking him around" by using this feature.
Vocal duties are performed in a true ensemble style: Temptations singers Dennis Edwards, Melvin Franklin, Richard Street (who was a frequent fill-in for Paul Williams and his eventual replacement) and Damon Harris (who had replaced Eddie Kendricks as the group's falsetto singer the previous year) alternate vocal lines, taking the role of siblings questioning their mother about their now-dead father; their increasingly pointed questions, and the mother's repeated response ("Papa was a rollin' stone/wherever he laid his hat was his home/and when he died, all he left us was alone") paint a somber picture for the children who have never seen their father and have "never heard nothing but bad things about him." Friction arose during the recording of "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" for a number of reasons. The Temptations did not like the fact that Whitfield's instrumentation had been getting more emphasis than their vocals on their songs at the time, and that they had to press Whitfield to get him to produce ballads for the group. Whitfield forced Edwards to re-record his parts dozens of times until he finally got the angered, bitter grumble he desired out of the usually fiery-toned Edwards.
