Emilia's interest is again sparked, and she demands that document. Jaroslav asks for a reason, which Emilia does not directly answer. Jaroslav proceeds to ask Emilia what she knows about Ellian MacGregor, whom he describes in disparaging terms, after reading her love letters that detail explicit sexual behaviour. Emilia takes offence at this part of the conversation.

As Höskuldr dies, he gives Olaf, his illegitimate son, the ring and sword which King Hákon had given him. Olaf's half-brother, Þorleikr, takes offence at this. In order to make peace with his brother, Olaf offers to foster Þorleikr's son, Bolli, "as he who raises the child of another is always considered as the lesser of the two".Kunz 2008:55.

Chrononhotonthologos, in camp, takes offence at a piece of pork, slaps his general, and is killed by the raging general. The general creates a bloodbath before killing himself.

Plate 2 for the first edition by Walter Crane The Selfish Giant owns a beautiful garden which has 12 peach trees and lovely fragrant flowers, in which children love to play after returning from the school. On the giant's return from seven years visiting his friend the Cornish Ogre, he takes offence at the children and builds a wall to keep them out. He put a notice board "TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED". The garden falls into perpetual winter.

He explains that ever since he brought Lister out of stasis, he has had one directive: to keep Lister sane, which he does by finding distractions and ways to keep him occupied. From his office, Hollister discusses the events with the original version of Holly who has an IQ of 6,000.

The credits of each show are accompanied by a song by Tripod. While sometimes new material is used, it is sometimes a song previously featured in their "Song In An Hour" challenge with Triple J. Although not a regular sketch, one of the best-known segments on "Skithouse" was a sketch depicting an interview with a group of insurgents during the Iraq War. During the sketch, the leader of the militant group realises that his comments are being subtitled in real time and takes offence at the criticism of his English language skills.

Once Sarah has become accustomed to the ship's motion, she heads out onto the deck to take photographs, but Alex slips up behind her unnoticed, knocks her out and throws her overboard. The Doctor sees her in the water and leaps in after her—but when Andrews tries to turn around for them, the sozzled Hogben takes offence at Andrews’ changing course without orders and orders him to resume his heading, leaving the Doctor and Sarah behind. The Brigadier once again threatens Hogben with court-martial and worse, but this time Hogben refuses to give in—and the Brigadier thus punches him, knocking him out, and tells the rest of the crew that he's fainted. The crew decide not to ask questions, and change course.
