Subba Rao composed the National Pledge in Telugu in 1962 while he was serving as the District Treasury Officer of Vishakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh. He was a close associate of the nationalist leader Tenneti Viswanadham, who forwarded the pledge to the then Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh, P.V.G. Raju who was also known as the Raja Saheb of Vizianagaram. Raju directed all the schools in the district to have the students take the pledge and it was subsequently taken up at the national level. "Take Poo to the Loo", commonly shortened to "Poo2Loo", was an Indian social media campaign led by UNICEF to combat the country's problems with open defecation. It has been criticized for being the subject of many jokes posted on online forums. The Times of India reported that the idea was developed and initiated in March 2014 after a sanitation conference was organised by UNICEF India and the Indian Institutes of Technology as part of the larger Total Sanitation Campaign, which the Indian government launched in 1999. Anyone who gives him Oath of Allegiance and Covenant (بیعت، میثاق) on the name of Imam at- Taiyeb then only he is regarded the member of Alavi Bohra Community. The chief jurist an-No'maan of the Fatimid court of Imam Mo'iz says in his work that, As for the true followers, the members of the Ismaili community, they faithfully take the pledge of allegiance to the Imam.
