Real-time testing is the process of testing real-time computer systems. Software testing is performed to detect and help correct bugs (errors) in computer software. Testing involves ensuring not only that the software is error-free but that it provides the required functionality to the user. MAC/65 is a 6502 assembler written by Stephen D. Lawrow and originally sold by Optimized Systems Software for the Atari 8-bit family of microcomputers. MAC/65 was first released on disk in 1982, requiring 16 KB RAM. A bank- switched "SuperCartridge" came later for US$99, only occupying 8 KB RAM. MAC/65 is structured similarly to the Atari Assembler Editor cartridge, combining a line editor, assembler, and debugger into a single package.

In multiprocessor computer systems, software lockout is the issue of performance degradation due to the idle wait times spent by the CPUs in kernel-level critical sections. Software lockout is the major cause of scalability degradation in a multiprocessor system, posing a limit on the maximum useful number of processors. To mitigate the phenomenon, the kernel must be designed to have its critical sections as short as possible, therefore decomposing each data structure in smaller substructures.

MetaComCo (MCC) was a computer systems software company started in 1981 and based in Bristol, England by Peter Mackeonis and Derek Budge. A division of Tenchstar, Ltd. MetaComCo's first product was an MBASIC compatible interpreter for IBM PCs, which was licensed by Peter Mackeonis to Digital Research in 1982, and issued as the Digital Research Personal Basic, running under CP/M. Other computer languages followed, also licensed by Digital Research and MetaComCo established an office in Pacific Grove, California, to service their United States customers.
Sequoia Voting Systems was a California-based company that is one of the largest providers of electronic voting systems in the U.S., having offices in Oakland, Denver and New York City. Some of its major competitors were Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold Election Systems) and Election Systems & Software. It was acquired by the Canadian company Dominion Voting Systems on June 4, 2010. At the time it had contracts for 300 jurisdictions in 16 states through its BPS, WinEDS, Edge, Edge2, Advantage, Insight, InsightPlus and 400C systems.

Its core product is H5OS, a web-centric operating system that is primarily based on the open web standard HTML5. It is derived from Firefox OS, whose development company founder Li Gong had overseen as president of Mozilla Corporation. Acadine Technologies was founded on March 25, 2015, and was based in Hong Kong with operations in Beijing, Taipei, Palo Alto, and London.
NetApp AFF, FAS, ONTAP Select, Cloud Volumes ONTAP and Cloud Volume Services, Lenovo DM storage system series use NetApp's proprietary operating system called ONTAP which includes code from Berkeley Net/2 BSD Unix, Spinnaker Networks technology and other operating systems. The CMDB is a fundamental component of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework's Configuration Management process. CMDBs are used to keep track of the state of assets such as products, systems, software, facilities, people as they exist at specific points in time, and the relationship between all assets. A CMDB helps an organization understand the relationship between the components of a system and to track their configurations. The maintenance of this information allows for certain actions, such as the reconstruction of assets, to occur at any point in time.

G. Bard Ermentrout is an American mathematician and distinguished professor at University of Pittsburgh. He is known for his contributions to computational and mathematical neuroscience including his joint work with Nancy Kopell in deriving the Ermentrout and Kopell canonical model, his joint work with David Terman in writing the book Mathematical Foundations of Neuroscience, and for the development of the dynamical systems software XPPAuto. Bowen is known for her support of opening government to the Internet. When Shepardson Microsystems ported BASIC to the Atari, their work was so quick that they had it finished before the contract was signed — and the contract had room for a $1000 penalty or bonus if the work appeared after a date in April 1979. They already had it done by the December 28, 1978 delivery of the contract. In early 1981, SMI concluded that their BASIC and DOS products were not viable, and permitted them (with the Atari Assembler Editor product) to be purchased by Bill Wilkinson and Mike Peters, who formed Optimized Systems Software. The new company then proceeded to enhance the products and sell them as third-party applications.
