Východoslovenská energetika, a.s. (VSE) is an electric utility company based in Košice, Slovakia. It is the third largest electricity distributor in the Slovakia, which serves the Košice Region and Prešov Region, where it delivers and distributes electricity to circa 500,000 customers – businesses and households. Since 2003, Východoslovenská energetika has been part of a large European energy company called Innogy, which currently supplies energy to approximately 16 million electricity consumers and 7 million gas customers in 11 European countries.

Early results from Dan Nocera, a researcher at Harvard University, gave insight on how his newly created bionic leaf can be used for fertilizer production. This new bionic leaf uses photovoltaic cells in conjunction with Xanthobacter autotrophicus bacteria to create a plastic called polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). PHB supplies energy to the bacteria's natural enzymes which then converts nitrogen gas from the air into ammonia. The bionic leaf, can perform this process using renewable electricity, allowing for the sustainable production of ammonia and bio- fertilizers.

Construction of the biggest hydroelectric power installation in Angola began in 2012. The first 338 megawatts generator of the 2,070 megawatts power station was commissioned on 4 August 2017, when the power plant was officially inaugurated by President José Eduardo dos Santos, the president of Angola at that time. In July 2019, the fifth turbine, out of six main generating units, was installed. The power generated is integrated into the national electricity grid and supplies energy to approximately 8,000,000 customers in Angola.

The ceremonial opening of the reservoir with the name Ottmachauer See and commissioning of the hydroelectric power plant occurred on the 17 June 1933. The four turbine hydroelectric power plant, located at the outflow, has two Kaplan turbines with the power of 4.8 MW and supplies energy to the power grid of the country. The flow is at a rate of 2 × 21.5 m³/s at 16 m level difference. The reservoir belongs to the Kaskady Nysy Kłodzkiej, which is made up of four reservoirs: Topola Reservoir, Kozielno Reservoir making Paczkowski Lake, Otmuchów Lake and Nyskie Lake.

These are set to include a €300 million, 450-megawatt combined cycle gas turbine in County Louth, which has been approved and fast-tracked by An Bord Pleanala under the state's Strategic Infrastructure Bill. It will supply up to 8% of Ireland's peak demand and is set to come online in 2010 despite the slump. Plans for a similar project in County Galway are at a pre-consultation stage. Quinn Environmental also operate a small 500 kW Landfill Gas utilization plant at their Lisbane landfill site in Tandragee, County Armagh, which supplies energy to the NIE grid.

Applications range from the use of large inductors in power supplies, which in conjunction with filter capacitors remove ripple which is a multiple of the mains frequency (or the switching frequency for switched-mode power supplies) from the direct current output, to the small inductance of the ferrite bead or torus installed around a cable to prevent radio frequency interference from being transmitted down the wire. Inductors are used as the energy storage device in many switched-mode power supplies to produce DC current. The inductor supplies energy to the circuit to keep current flowing during the "off" switching periods and enables topographies where the output voltage is higher than the input voltage. A tuned circuit, consisting of an inductor connected to a capacitor, acts as a resonator for oscillating current.

Several oil companies explored for petroleum since 1992 in the Djado plateau in north-eastern Niger and the Agadem basin, north of Lake Chad but made no discoveries worth developing at the time. In June 2007, however, China National Petroleum Corporation (state- owned by the People's Republic of China) signed a US$5 billion agreement to extract oil in the Agadem block, as well as build a per day oil refinery and a 2,000 km oil pipeline in the country; production is expected to start in 2009. Niger's known coal reserves, with low energy and high ash content, cannot compete against higher quality coal on the world market.
