In 1955, he emigrated to Perth, Western Australia following a job offer from the Western Australia Department of Agriculture.

The Sundowner is an American documentary short film directed by Steve Christolos and starring Jon Bendz and Tim Tomchak. It is the story of a civil engineer who builds a 53-foot yacht completely by himself, and tries to sail around the world. The film premiered at Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 25, 2010. It was produced by Alan Wigley.

Visitors to the sanctuary can find different types of accommodation according to their taste, ranging from the Impala eco-safari lodge with a 24-bed capacity and one campsite (State Lodge Campsite). There are also four picnic sites. The Sundowner tower overlooks the railway trail and is a breath-taking area for sunsets on the shores of the second largest fresh water lake in the world.

The Bush Brotherhood of St Boniface operated in the Diocese of Bunbury in Western Australia from July 1911 to 1929. In 1922, Bryan Robin published a book "The Sundowner" about his experiences in the Bush Brotherhood of St Barnabas in North Queensland from 1914 to 1921. This book attracted other priests to join the brotherhood. The Brotherhood of St John the Baptist was established in Murray Bridge, South Australia.

The fire began at approximately 1:45 p.m. on May 5, along the Jesusita Trail just below Cathedral Peak in the Santa Barbara foothills. Despite being alerted to the fire within minutes of its ignition, no fire department officers or equipment were on site until after 17:00 giving the fire over three hours to expand. Within a matter of hours the fire had grown to with sundowner winds expected.

McCaughan went on tour as Sundowner with Mike Park in Feb-Mar 2008 in the UK and Europe on what was known as the "Beans On Toast" Tour, because that is all the pair could afford to eat.

His track "Sundowner" was used at key points during the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic games. It was first heard as the Union Flag was brought into the stadium by members of the Armed Forces. Later it was played when the Olympic Flag was paraded, and finally as the Olympic Flame was brought to the stadium in a speedboat. Blanck Mass opened for Icelandic band Sigur Rós on their 2013 UK tour.

The Santa Barbara County fire Department is a contract county with the California State Department of Forestry so they lend a hand in the firefighting efforts throughout the state. The hills above Santa Barbara that comprise the Santa Ynez Mountains are a unique challenge on the California coast as they cause an effect known as the sundowner winds, which are very similar to the Santa Ana winds seen in nearby Santa Ana, California.

Since May 2013 the entrance gate in Edward drive is however closed at all times due to crime issues and inconsiderate revellers, and access is arranged by means of a computer and cell phone system. Phone numbers displayed at the entrance gate can be used upon arrival in order to gain access and again to leave the premises. An Iphithi sundowner stroll is arranged from time to time. After years of refusing, and occasionally mocking, fans' requests to play songs from their old bands, The Lawrence Arms performed Slapstick's "Broken Down" and songs by The Broadways at the Asian Man Records 11th anniversary show. The diner-lounge-observation car Silver Star was sold to AMAX Iron Ore Corporation in 1974 and given to Mt Newman Mining (now part of BHP Billiton) in Western Australia and renamed Sundowner. It was used for many years as passenger accommodation on the fortnightly supply train to the mines. As of 2006, it was still used for VIP and inspection trains. Since 2010, it has been the nucleus of the Silver Star Cafe in Port Hedland, Western Australia.

The band plans to release the EP, titled Run Rabbit Run (Tragic Hero Records) in early 2009. Both Ryan Gustafson and Rob McFarlane have recorded solo material, but neither has released any of it. In 1879, due to Reno's expanding population, a larger high school, called "Central School," was built near Arlington and Fourth Streets. His novel Flight of Aquavit won the Lambda Literary Award for Best Men's Mystery, making Bidulka the first Canadian to win in that category. Two months after work resumed, the Sundowner became the focus of a federal grand jury investigation into sewer allocation procedures being taken by the city.

Prim looked at other properties – such as 3rd Street Flats in Reno – for ideas regarding the unfinished Sundowner tower, which contained nearly of space. Prim had no schedule for its plans, but intended to redevelop the tower as a mixed-use project that would include residential units, most likely apartments. For the lower floors, potential ideas included restaurants, retail, and a grocery store. The project would align with revitalization efforts focused on downtown Reno that were intended to attract more people to the area, including younger people.

When the first engine arrive on scene at 5:32 p.m. on July 1, the fire was less than a quarter acre, but then winds came up and swept the fire over the ridge and down into drainage. By July 3 the fire had grown to more than forcing the county to declare a state of emergency. During the initial operational periods, the fire was driven downhill by Sundowner winds and burned to the edges of Goleta requiring the multiple strike teams for structure protection.

On 31 May 1940, Sundowner was requisitioned by the Admiralty to sail to Dunkirk to assist in the evacuation. Lightoller, aged 66 and retired, volunteered to take her, along with his eldest son Roger, and Gerald Ashcroft, an 18-year-old Sea Scout. Leaving Port of Ramsgate at 10:00 on 1 June, the yacht crossed the Channel in company with five other ships. On their way, they rescued the crew of the motor cruiser Westerly, which had broken down and was on fire.

A sundowner is a northerly offshore wind in along the southern Pacific slope of Santa Ynez Mountains, in communities from Gaviota and Santa Barbara, California towards but not including Ventura County. It occurs when a region of high pressure is directly north of the area, the coast of which trends east–west. This contrasts with the more typical onshore flow. The winds blow with greatest force when the pressure gradient is perpendicular to the axis of the Santa Ynez Mountains, which rise directly behind Santa Barbara.

The Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway in Kent has had a number of Bean vehicles, including a 1923 14 HP Open Tourer that is driven to historic vehicle events both in the UK and overseas. Francis Birtles' record-breaking Bean 14 Sundowner is in the National Museum of Australia. A number of Bean vehicles, most of them 12 HP and 14 HP cars, survive and are driven in private ownership. It is thought about 500 of the six cylindered 18-50 Beans were produced and today around 20 of those are thought to survive.

Four One Five Two is the debut album of Chicago Illinois's Sundowner, the acoustic side-project from Chris McCaughan, singer guitarist of The Lawrence Arms. The album was released on March 13, 2007, after many months of playing coffee shops and touring alongside The Lawrence Arms. The album consists of twelve songs, ten of which were previously unreleased in any form and two of which (My Boatless Booze Cruise, One Hundred Resolutions) are remakes of Lawrence Arms songs. The album takes its name from McCaughan's childhood home address.

Oncale v. Sundowner Offshore Services, 523 U.S. 75 (1998), was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court. The case arose out of a suit for sex discrimination by a male oil-rig worker, who claimed that he was repeatedly subjected to sexual harassment by his male co-workers with the acquiescence of his employer. The Court held that the protection of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 against workplace discrimination "because of... sex" applied to harassment in the workplace between members of the same sex..

Karadanis re-submitted the proposal to the city two months later. The proposed hotel addition was looked over by the city's Major Projects Review Committee, which recommended the addition of 130 parking spaces. A staff analysis was conducted by the Regional Planning Commission and found that the additional hotel rooms would make the Sundowner too crowded, leading the planning staff to recommend denial of the project. The tower neared completion at the end of 1979, when the city approved the conversion of the office space into 162 hotel rooms.

On October 1, 1991, Anthony G. Petrello was hired and became Deputy Chairman, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nabors Industries. Previously, he had the role of Managing Partner of the New York Office of law firm Baker & McKenzie. In 1993, Nabors performed the acquisition of Grace Drilling for $32 million, adding 167 rigs to the company fleet. In 1997, Nabors performed multiple acquisitions that expanded the company - Canrig acquisition put Nabors into drilling equipment business, Sundowner purchase exposed company presence in offshore drilling and Epoch Well Services acquisition expanded Nabors to the instrumentation market.

Fighter Squadron 111 (VF-111), also known as the Sundowners, was a fighter squadron of the United States Navy. Originally established as Fighter Squadron 11 (VF-11) on 10 October 1942, it was redesignated as VF-11A on 15 November 1946, redesignated as VF-111 on 15 July 1948 and disestablished on 19 January 1959. On 20 January, another squadron, VF-111 (1956-95) then assumed the designation until its de-establishment in 1995. In November 2006, VFC-13 Detachment Key West was redesignated as VFC-111, taking on the Sundowner insignia and callsign.

The fire was first reported shortly before 4:00pm on Wednesday June 15, 2016 in the Los Padres National Forest in an area that includes private inholdings. In a matter of hours the fire had grown to over . According to the United States Forest Service, the fire was propelled by downslope sundowner winds which sent the fire down canyons in the Santa Ynez Mountains with gusts of over . These contrasted with the typical onshore flow so the fire alternated directions between day and night as it continued to spread.

Aurora Private School, commonly known simply as Aurora, was a private school located in Sundowner, Randburg. It was subsequently acquired by Curro Holdings to formulate Curro Aurora. The school was established in 1993 by Wendy Benbow- Hebbert, Judy Nicholas and Debbie Adam, three former inner City of Johannesburg teachers who sought to reform practises of the education system perceived as stifling and counter productive. As a result, Aurora was created as a liberal educational institution which drew significant attention from its inception in comparison with contemporary traditional private schools in South Africa.

Power has released four albums to date as Blanck Mass: Blanck Mass (Rock Action Records, 2011), Dumb Flesh (Sacred Bones Records, 2015), World Eater (Sacred Bones Records, 2017) and Animated Violence Mild (Sacred Bones Records, 2019).

For nearly 20 years, it made a weekly round trip from Newman to Port Hedland and back, carrying families and sporting teams on a Friday for shopping and sports fixtures, and returning them to Newman the following Sunday evening. The Sundowner was also used for special trips, including day excursions, VIP functions and "Santa Specials". On all of these trips, it offered views of the Pilbara landscape not otherwise visible to its appreciative occupants. During its service on the Mount Newman railway, the carriage was refurbished and modified inside and out on several occasions.

The day had already been a long one for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department which had battled a 3-alarm fire in the county dump. While still mopping up from the dump fire, the call went out at 6:02pm for a brush fire on Highway 154 and Painted Cave Road. On this Wednesday evening temperatures topped off at degrees, an all-time record for that date, fueling some of the worst sundowner winds ever recorded. The first engine arrived on scene at 6:05pm and was met with winds gusting over with about actively burning.

At the time, an expansion of the Reno-Sparks sewer plant was planned to take effect in 1979. In the meantime, the Reno City Council requested that citizens conserve water. In response, Karadanis announced that water-saving measures had been implemented at the Sundowner. He hoped to begin construction on the expansion by the end of 1976, although the project was contingent on whether the city would continue to issue building permits prior to the sewer plant expansion. Demolition of the Stardust Motel concluded in 1977, and construction began on a new building for additional casino, convention, and restaurant space.

The system is operated mainly at night to top up the lower half of the mountain and any other high traffic areas. The automated areas include the Supertrail, Friday Flat, High Noon, The Cruiser area's Walkabout and Ballroom, Sundowner, Lovers Leap bypass, World Cup, and Lower True Blue. Thredbo has over 50 ski runs and employs a standard 3-colour grade system; green for beginners, blue intermediate and black diamond advanced. The longest continual run is from the top of Karel's T-Bar to Friday Flat and is 5.9 km long; however, this is composed of several trails.

The Sherpa Fire was a wildfire that burned in the Santa Ynez Mountains along the Gaviota Coast in the southwestern part of Santa Barbara County, California in June 2016. In a matter of hours the fire spread to over as the fire was propelled by downslope sundowner winds. This offshore northerly wind contrasts with the more typical onshore flow and sent the fire down the canyons towards the ocean with gusts of over . The wildfire resulted in evacuations at two state beach campgrounds and some residences together with intermittent interruption of traffic on a state transportation route.

Originally built in 1912, the former Admiralty steam pinnace was bought in 1929 for £40 (equivalent to £ today) by Charles and Sylvia Lightoller. The hull was recovered from the mud at Conyer Creek east of the River Medway and was fitted with two masts and ketch-rigged with jib, mainsail, mizzen and mizzen staysail. Due to Sylvia being Australian, they named their converted yacht Sundowner, an Australian term for a tramp or hobo. Originally 52 feet long, she was extended to 58 feet, and fitted with Parsons petrol-paraffin 4-stroke engine driving a single propeller, giving her a top speed of .

Red Scare Industries (sometimes referred to as Red Scare Records) is a punk rock record label. The label was started in San Francisco (but moved to Chicago) by former Fat Wreck Chords employee Toby Jeg. Jeg started the label in 2004 when his friend Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms wanted a new label to release the EP for his new band The Falcon, it has since released material for bands such as The Lillingtons, Cobra Skulls, The Copyrights, Sundowner, Teenage Bottlerocket, and more. For 2010 and 2011, Red Scare albums by The Menzingers and The Sidekicks have been named album of the year by punknews.org.

Due to the population of the City of Frankston increasing rapidly in the late 1960s and the early 1970s, a local chapter of the club was established for Frankston North. The inaugural meeting (or interest meeting) of the new Club was held on 14 March 1973 at the Sundowner hotel, Seaford. It was attended by 27 people and was chaired by Past District Governor, John Emerton. Others present were District Governor George Allsop, Bruce Hall - President of the sponsoring Club, Frankston, the District Governor's special representative Norm Arthur (Past President of the Frankston Club), and a number of interested Rotarians from the Frankston Club.

2016 saw Laneway Festival prove itself once again to be one of the most celebrated music events in the country. With more tickets sold than ever before, Laneway punters were treated to a huge selection of artists across all genres - the dreamy tones of Beach House and DIIV made for a transcendental experience whilst FIDLAR, Violent Soho and DMA's represented the guitar establishment- but it was Melbourne's premier underground Psychotic rock band Tripmonks that stole the show with their unexpected nudity. Flume debuted his new material including special guest appearances from MC Vince Staples and Kai, and Grimes turned electro-pop on its head with her energetic dancer- infused sundowner set.

Stevens was an avid reader and developed a wide knowledge and culture. In 1895 he began a fifteen-year period as a solicitor's clerk and it was intended that he should study law. During this time Stevens worked as a freelance journalist, coming into contact with a number of literary figures, he edited My Sundowner and other Poems (1904) by John Farrell with a memoir. By Monday, May 8, the fire perimeter extended from west of Highway 154, in the hills burned in the 1990 Painted Cave Fire, across the front country of the Santa Ynez Mountains east through Mission Canyon, Rattlesnake Canyon, and into the hills above Montecito, reaching the area burned by the Gap Fire in July 2008 and the Tea Fire in November 2008. Intense sundowner winds caused the fire to spread rapidly during evening and nighttime hours during its first three days. The fire was fully contained on May 18, after having burned and destroying 80 homes.

In California, downslope winds are funneled through mountain passes, which intensify their effect, and examples include the Santa Ana and sundowner winds.

In his youth Furphy had written many verses and in December 1867 he had been awarded the first prize of £3 at the Kyneton Literary Society for a vigorous set of verses on 'The Death of President Lincoln'. While living at Shepparton, he was encouraged in his writing by Kate Baker, a schoolteacher who boarded with his mother. He sent a story 'The Mythical Sundowner' to The Bulletin under the name 'Warrigal Jack' and it was accepted for publication. His most famous work is Such Is Life, a fictional account of the life of rural dwellers, including bullock drivers, squatters and itinerant travellers, in southern New South Wales and Victoria, during the 1880s.

The old Gundagai Flour Mill in Sheridan Lane was also known as 'The Sundowners' for the swaggies who camped there each night. 'Sam the Sundowner', a famous Australian swaggie and principal character in the Australian comedy drama, The Road to Gundagai, was a regular resident at the Gundagai 'Sundowners' and was known for his rescues of near to drowning people from the inland rivers. In 1901, a large camp of unemployed men and their families at South Gundagai was waiting for the proposed Gundagai Rail Line to begin construction. 500 of these men marched from south to north Gundagai accompanied by the town band, to try to move commencement of the project, forward.

These Escort models are identified by the familiar blue Ford oval in the centre of the grille and on the right of the bootlid. One of the Dunkirk 'little ships' still moored at Ramsgate and open to the public is the Motor Yacht Sundowner, (built 1912) once the private yacht of the second officer of the Titanic, C.H. Lightoller, whom surviving that fatal wreck later insisted personally at being at the helm during the evacuation of Dunkirk. He succeeded in bringing home 127 members of the British Expeditionary Force in just one trip. After these events 42,783 soldiers were transported from Ramsgate railway station, carried by 82 southern rail special trains, the second busiest station during the evacuation, next to Dover, which carried over 180,000 men moved by 327 trains. Upon the launch, their old studios of radio operation in Fortunata Building, at the corner of Magallanes & Lapu-lapu Streets, Cebu City, with the location of 1-kilowatt BC Gates Transmitter is at Mambaling Seaside. After the success of its radio station, the company ventured into television and started operations on November 20, 1963 as DYSS Channel 7 Cebu. With this venture, DYSS-TV Channel 7 became the third VHF television station established in Cebu City after the establishment of provincial stations of ABS Channel 3 (owned by ABS-CBN's predecessor Alto Broadcasting System) and ABC Channel 11 (owned by the Associated Broadcasting Corporation) which began its broadcasts on June 14, 1961 and September 11, 1963 respectively. The original studios of TV operations was inaugurated since then at the Sundowner Centrepoint Hotel along Plaridel St. cor.

Tucker bag is a traditional Australian term for a storage bag used by travellers in the outback, typically a swagman or bushman, for carrying subsistence food. In its basic design a tucker bag is a pouch or bag with a single entry typically closed with a drawstring, and may have been made of leather or oilskin. Swagman (1904 Australian postcard) "Sundowner" could be applied derogatively as meaning one who arrives at a station too late to do any useful work, but still expects a feed and top-up of the tuckerbag. The tucker bag should not be confused with the swag, also carried by outback travellers, whether on foot, horse or pushbike, which may have comprised blankets (usually blue, hence "bluey", another name for a swag), waterproof sheet, personal effects, and basic cooking implements such as a billy.

Belvedere LLC, a company owned by him, took over ownership of the property in 2006. Metcalf Builders of Carson City handled the renovation work. The initial work was focused on the 11-story north tower, which had been expected for completion in late 2005. However, interior construction was still heavily underway in mid-2006, with the first condo sales expected to be finalized in early 2007. Belvedere Towers had 70 units under contract to be sold to buyers. In 2006, during the ongoing condo conversion, a group of trade union construction workers protested against the project, stating that non-union workers were not receiving standard wages and health care benefits. Despite having claimed that they never would, The Lawrence Arms performed songs by The Broadways, during their late 2007 tour: "15 Minutes" and "The Kitchen Floor". Brendan sang "15 Minutes", which was originally sung by Dan; its inclusion instead of one of his own songs is probably due to its relative popularity among The Broadways' catalogue, being their only track offered as a free download on the official Asian Man Records website. Chris performed his song "The Kitchen Floor"; he has also gone on to do so under his solo project, Sundowner. Also performed during the tour was Slapstick's "Broken Down", lending support to the theory that the likely reason for the inclusion of these songs is because the tour was something of a showcase for Brendan and Chris's various projects, leading to some of their older songs being added for the sake of completion and to please die-hard fans.

To serve local viewers further, it launched in 1981 its first ever Cebuano language newscast, Mga Balita sa Klum- Klum, as well as a local business show to promote Cebuano entrepeneurs. In 1990, GMA Channel 7 Cebu transferred its studios and transmitter to new facilities located at GMA Skyview Complex in Nivel Hills, Apas, Cebu City for better broadcast equipments and an upgraded transmitter tower, with increased transmitting power output to 60,000 watts (259,000 watts ERP) to replace an old 5-kilowatt TPO located at the Sundowner Centrepoint Hotel in Plaridel St. for 3 decades. The transmitter upgrades resulted in clearer and better signal reception in Metro Cebu, and the Central and Eastern Visayas. On April 30, 1992, as part of the network's expansion of coverage which started exactly four years after with the inauguration of the station's Tower of Power in its flagship station in Quezon City, Metro Manila, GMA Channel 7 Cebu was launched as the Rainbow Satellite Network.

Since the middle of the twentieth century, several destructive fires have affected Santa Barbara: the 1964 Coyote Fire, which burned of backcountry along with 106 homes; the smaller, but quickly moving, Sycamore Fire in 1977, which burned 200 homes; the disastrous 1990 Painted Cave Fire, which incinerated over 500 homes in only several hours, during an intense Sundowner wind event; the November 2008 Tea Fire, which destroyed 210 homes in the foothills of Santa Barbara and Montecito; and the 2009 Jesusita Fire that burned and destroyed 160 homes above the San Roque region of Santa Barbara. The Thomas Fire burned from its origins in Santa Paula to the east of Santa Barbara and consumed in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, most of which consisted of rural land and wilderness areas. The fire started December 4, 2017 and was 100% contained by January 12, 2018. 1,050 structures were lost in the Thomas Fire, mostly east of Santa Barbara in Ventura County.
