Ryška alludes to the 2003 war on drugs in neighboring Thailand, which killed and injured many Akha whose livelihoods are dependent on opium cultivation. Returning to the lowlands, Ryška stumbles on an Akha man lying on a road.

Krips, Rudolf's squire, offers some comic relief as he stumbles on the scene and thinks he has killed the dead bear singing the first of his several comic songs. Jesse Plemons Todd Alquist (played by Jesse Plemons) is an exterminator for Vamonos Pest, a fumigation company used by Walt, Mike, and Jesse as the front for their meth business after Gus Fring's death. Todd notices and disables a nanny cam at Walt and Jesse's first post- Gus Fring cook site, attracting their attention to someone they think might be useful in the future.
