William Henry Puglsey (1851 - 1933) was the reeve of Richmond Hill, Ontario, from 1885 to 1896 and from 1907 to 1918. Pugsley began his career as a butcher and cattle dealer in Richmond Hill. He was elected to the Richmond Hill Village Council after standing for election as a councillor in 1880 and reelected in 1881, 1882 and 1883. In 1885 he stood for reeve and was elected.

He was also, throughout much of his life, a radical modernizer. Marcello Soleri himself remained in office as mayor for little more than a year. Following Germany's defeat, Naumann lived under an assumed name for five years. He reemerged after the 1950 amnesty and resumed his contacts within the far-right, including Hans-Ulrich Rudel, Ernst Achenbach, Arthur Axmann, Otto Skorzeny and many others. They infiltrated the Free Democrats Party for a period of about two years. Naumann was arrested by the British Army on 16 January 1953 for being the leader of a Neo-Nazi group that attempted to infiltrate West German political parties;Activities were called the "Naumann affair" (Naumann Affäre) or "Naumann circle" (Naumann- Kreis) or "Gauleiter-FDP" for which he was banned for life from standing for election as an "offender" under a new clause added to the constitution by Adenauer's government.

Standing for election as a Whig in Preston in 1826, Wood was elected alongside Edward Smith-Stanley (the future Earl of Derby and three-time Prime Minister), defeating the Radical William Cobbett and the anti-Catholic candidate Robert Smith Barrie. In the 1830 Wood and Smith- Stanley overcame a challenge by the Radical Henry Hunt, but in the by-election following Smith-Stanley's appointment as Chief Secretary for Ireland (in which only Smith-Stanley's seat, not Wood's, was contested), Hunt defeated Smith- Stanley.

However, state law provides for payment of an annual salary of $9,600 to constables in counties with a population of over 250,000; as of the 2000 U.S. Census, this only applies in Louisville Metro/Jefferson County and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. In 1628, Trelawny became involved in the dispute between Charles I and leading members of Parliament which eventually led to the English Civil War. The King was anxious to influence the election of MPs so as to secure a more pliable Parliament, and in Cornwall efforts on his behalf were being directed by one James Bagg, acting in concert with the Duke of Buckingham. Two of the King's most implacable opponents, William Coryton and Sir John Eliot, had announced their intention of standing for election as knights of the shire for Cornwall, and Bagg arranged for a caucus of influential Cornish magistrates to mobilise against them. They not only used the official posts to promote alternative candidates and attempted to instruct the High Sheriff (Trelawny himself was High Sheriff of Cornwall in 1630) who he should return as elected, but they wrote open letters to the freeholders of the county appealing that they should not elect Coryton or Eliot, and to Eliot and Coryton themselves, warning them against persisting with their candidacy.
