The Purple Rose offers a year-long apprenticeship program for young artists entering a career in theatre. Apprentices are paid a modest stipend and work as many as 80 hours per week gaining experience in lighting, sound, stage management, design, set construction, and administrative/box office work. The seven apprentices also maintain and clean the theatre's facilities. The program was inspired by Daniels' experience as an apprentice with the Circle Repertory Company in New York City.
NIDA Open is Australia's largest non-profit, performing arts short course program. In 2018, more than 15,000 students attended NIDA Open courses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin and other locations. NIDA Open offers courses for children and young people from preschool through Grade 12, as well as adult courses, in acting, comedy, costumes, props, make-up, design, directing, filmmaking, musical theatre, physical theatre and movement, presenting, technical theatre, stage management, voice and writing.
The NH Professional Theatres employ both AEA Actors' Equity Association performers and non-union working actors. The Actor's Equity Association is the union of actors and stage management professionals, and operates with many NH Professional Theatres by contract. AEA is a member of the AFL–CIO, and is affiliated with FIA, an international organization of performing arts unions. NHPTA member houses are found from the seacoast to the lakes and mountains and forested border with Vermont.
Brookswood theatre department holds an annual drama festival "Showcase" with plays written by grade 12 students. These students are members of the Directing and Scriptwriting 12 class, of which the purpose is to write, cast, and direct a play during the school year. As well, Brookswood is host to acting and stage management classes for grades 9-12, and the classes frequently collaborate to put on productions for the school as well as the district and provincial drama festivals.
Professional training is offered in the areas of Acting, Design/Technology, and Musical Theatre with BFA degrees offered in all three programs and a dance concentration in the latter. A BA degree in Theatre is also available, which allows students to tailor the major to suit interests in directing, writing, and stage management among others. In addition, the department offers a rigorous dance minor. Otterbein University Theatre and Otterbein Summer Theatre stage nine shows a year.
Stagecraft is a generic term referring to the technical aspects of theatrical, film, and video production. It includes, but is not limited to, constructing and rigging scenery, hanging and focusing of lighting, design and procurement of costumes, makeup, procurement of props, stage management, and recording and mixing of sound. Stagecraft is distinct from the wider umbrella term of scenography. Considered a technical rather than an artistic field, it relates primarily to the practical implementation of a designer's artistic vision.
Vocal music students audition to perform in one of 13 vocal performance groups. High school students may audition for the most selective of these, "13th & Broadway", which performs throughout the region. The technical theater program offers college-level training in stage management, lighting, sound, and set and costume design. Each specialty has a lab for students to develop concepts and practice technique, and students work side-by-side with professional trades people in their chosen field.
At age 20, after her mandatory service in the Israeli Defense Force, Yerushalmi moved to London, where she studied Laban movement analysis with Kurt Jooss and stage management at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Back in Israel, Yerushalmi studied the Lee Strasberg method with Nola Chilton and the Feldenkrais method with Moshe Feldenkrais. Yerushalmi moved to the United States in the late 1960s to pursue her MFA in theater directing at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his success on the soccer field, Kuntner found great success as a stage hand at the Metropolitan Opera. He began as an electrician, but over the years moved into areas of greater responsibility including lighting and stage management. According to the Soccer Hall of Fame profile, he "received wide acclaim for his role in the staging of Tristan and Isolde in 1971." In 1963, Kuntner was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
The BA in Theatre Studies is the newly reformed BA in Drama track. Students can choose a pathway in Stage Management, Directing, Acting, Dramaturgy and Playwriting. The Theatre Studies track is a holistic approach to a liberal arts education, and allows students to also pursue a minor outside of the theatre department. Students may enroll in any of the classes that Dillingham offers with the exception of some courses restricted to Performance, Tech and Design students.

Allen, 2001, p. 32 Ayckbourn joined Wolfit on tour to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as an acting assistant stage manager (meaning a role that involved both acting and stage management) for three weeks,P. Some of the responsibilities of a concert stage manager include overseeing the schedule for load in and out of equipment, seeing to the comfort of the group which can include arranging refreshments and or transportation, sometimes arranging how and where merchandise is to be sold at the venue, and above all, as with all areas of stage management, watching out for the safety of all participants in the experience including performers, audience, and any crews required.

Howard Panter was born in Hillingdon Hospital in 1949. His first unpaid "showbiz" job was as impresario and stage manager for the group the Norsemen in Iwerne Minster, Dorset. One of his first jobs was as a technician with the London Contemporary Dance Theatre. From there, he pursued a career in Stage Management with The Royal Court Theatre and then went on to work for Woodfall Films, where in 1969, he worked as Stage Manager on a production of Hamlet, starring Nicol Williamson.
Youth Play Institute (YPI) is a professional paid internship in acting, playwriting, theater design or stage management for young adults between the ages of 16 and 21. HartBeat conducts two 8-week sessions, with an additional 5-week summer version of the program. YPI was originally conceived to reduce student racial isolation while teaching theater skills at a high level and to increase student academic performance. HartBeat recently restructured YPI with a new emphasis on workforce development and career readiness.
Cue sheets are of the most value to stage management. The light plot is a scale drawing that communicates the location of lighting fixtures and lighting positions so a team of electricians can independently install the lighting system. Next to each instrument on the plan will be information for any color gel, gobo, or other accessories that need to go with it, and its channel number. Often, paperwork listing all of this information is also generated by using a program such as Lightwright.
In 1968, at the age of 17, Bird began working in theatre as an assistant stage manager at Coventry Rep. She worked her way up doing a variety of jobs, including acting, stage management, publicity, theatre administration and directing in repertory and regional theatres. The ABTT employs three members of staff. The ABTT is governed by Memorandum and Articles of Association and is registered as a charitable organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. It has 11 trustees who are appointed due to their expertise in areas including theatre and stage management, architecture, technical theatre, planning law and the performing arts. The Chairman of the Trust is Louise Jeffreys. The ABTT’s funding is derived from its memberships, donations given by supporters and proceeds from training.
While in college, Teal performed in plays such as The House of Bernarda Alba and Antigone. In addition to performance, she participated more and more fully in the aspects of live theatre, such as stage management, ushering, and ticket sales. In addition, she performed with the Full Radius Dance Company, a physically integrated dance troupe. Her first role in a feature film was in 2004, in Kenneth Branagh's film Warm Springs alongside Cynthia Nixon, Kathy Bates, Branagh himself, and Felicia Day.
Bellarmine has a theater program which puts on two shows a year: a fall musical and a spring play, as well as a Dramafest featuring student-written one-act plays.5th Avenue In recent years, the department's musical productions have been nominated for several 5th Avenue High School Musical Theatre Awards, with one win in 2014 and two in 2015. The students work in six sub-departments of the theatre program: acting; set building; costume, hair, and make-up design, sound design; lighting design; and stage management.
His mother used to give him money to go swimming to build up his strength, but he spent it at the cinema instead. His mother disapproved, believing he'd pick up too many germs, but he would put his swimming trunks under the tap before returning home so that she would not discover the deception. When he left school he started work as a projectionist, then worked in the theatre, in stage management and acting. At one theatre he met the set designer Sally Jay, later his wife.

Each House produces a House Show each year, giving students of all ages a chance to perform live on the stage, or learn the arts of stage management and production.
Babbit was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She grew up in Cleveland with her father, a lawyer and law school professor, and her mother who ran a treatment program for teenagers with drug and alcohol problems, before her death in 2006. The program was called New Directions, and it provided inspiration for the fictional "reparative therapy" (conversion therapy) camp "True Directions" in But I'm a Cheerleader. Babbit began acting at the Cleveland Play House at the age of seven, later moving into stage management and lighting.
After working at the National Theatre between 1988 and 1993 (fulfilling the various roles of stage management, Education Manager, Head of Education and Producer of Mobile Productions and Theatre for Young People), she co-founded the new writing theatre company Out of Joint in 1993 with Max Stafford-Clark. From 1998, Friedman worked as a producer for the Ambassador Theatre Group. She launched her own theatre company, Sonia Friedman Productions, in 2002. Friedman's productions have been nominated for and won numerous Olivier, Tony and other awards.
The title of stage manager was not used until the 18th century, though the concept and need for someone to fill the area of stage management can be seen with the Ancient Greeks. The playwrights were usually responsible for production elements. Sophocles is the first known stage technician, supported by his employment as a scenic artist, playwright, musician, and producer. In the Middle Ages, there is evidence of a conducteur de secrets, who oversaw collecting money at the door and serving as a prompter on stage.
Graham was born in London, studied classics and music at Tonbridge, and graduated as BMus (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh in 1975. After a short spell studying stage management, he joined the BBC as a Music Producer on Radio 3, initially programming all recorded opera on the network. During his 12 years at the Corporation, Graham produced several documentaries and dramatised features, as well as programmes on Indian Classical Music (Ragas and a Republic). He produced Music Weekly with Michael Oliver from 1982 to 1987.
The Riley Smith Theatre (formerly Riley Smith Hall), refurbished in 2005 and 2016, is the largest proscenium theatre on the University campus and is used by student societies for performances, as well as being the main venue of the Backstage Society who provide technical and stage management services; also the venue for Live at Leeds, the John Martyn album, recorded in 1975. Pyramid Theatre (formerly Raven Theatre) is a theatre in the round located underground to the rear of the building, built in the 1960s as a debating chamber.
Power is also substantial and accessible. The theater has a unique Rockwell-designed cockpit in the orchestra seating area for camera, sound, and stage management. The hall from the front entrance to the grand stairway (leading up to the theater) is flanked by storefronts, as well as Art Deco columns displaying the names of past recipients of the Academy Award for Best Picture, with blank spaces left for future Best Picture winners, well into the 21st century. Currently the columns are set for Best Picture up to 2071.
The Lir Academy provides conservatoire training with degrees in acting, stage management and technical theatre, along with Masters in Fine Art for Playwriting, theatre directing and stage design. The school also offers short courses and diploma programs in a range of performing arts disciplines. The Bachelor In Acting, is a three-year degree course for approximately sixteen students per year, has auditions in Ireland and abroad. The Academy offers practical training for actors based in part on the acting technique of Konstantine Stanislavski, in combination with training in voice and movement. .
He holds a B.F.A. in Theatrical Production/Stage Management from the University of Arizona in Tucson and an M.Ed. from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Previously, he was the director at James Blair Middle School where he created the theatre program and introduced the 'Shakespeare in the Spring' series. The Series included Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Julius Caesar. Other shows produced at James Blair include Little Shop of Horrors (musical), School House Rock Live Jr., The Outsiders, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Rhys Adrian worked in stage management before becoming a writer, contributing material to summer shows, revues, pantomimes and West End musicals. His first radio play, The Man on the Gate, was broadcast by the BBC Home Service in November 1956. By the early 1960s he was beginning to develop the dramatic style that would become a hallmark of his subsequent work. A Nice Clean Sheet of Paper (1964) features a talkative and condescending job interviewer (played by Donald Wolfit) whose attempts to communicate with an unresponsive applicant (John Wood) drive him to incoherent blathering.
The Feltex Awards were superseded by annual awards organised by the Guild of Film and Television Arts (GOFTA). The awards ran from 1986 to 2003 and were known by a number of different titles, including the GOFTA Awards. The awards were run as joint film and television awards until 2000 when they were split into two separate ceremonies. The 1987 GOFTA Awards, presented by American TV personality Leeza Gibbons and New Zealand radio host Nic Nolan, is known for its disastrous presentation, including a disruptive audience who heckled guest John Inman, and confusing stage management.
Brokamp, with no previous arts experience, began to turn the school around. A new emphasis on academics, more Advanced Placement courses and more stringent audition standards that admitted only the most dedicated students led to better test scores and a higher level of artistic talent; Brokamp pushed to expand the school's vocational training programs in photography, stage management, and costume design by 50 percent. Applications to audition more than tripled by 2001 and fund-raising rebounded. Brokamp resigned and was replaced by Clarence Crum in 2004, who was followed by John Carlisle in 2006.

The production was directed by Dennis Lickteig and music directed by Joe Simiele with Stage Management by Blake Kennedy. Kuo-Hao Ho provided set design, Christian Mejia designed lights and Jessie Amoroso created the costumes. The Atlanta premiere opened at Centerstage North on May 11, 2012, starring Kelly David Carr as Alvin Kelby and John Stanier as Thomas Weaver. The production was directed by Julie Taliaferro with music direction by Bill Newberry, set design by Jasmine Vouge Pai, lighting design by John F. Parker Jr., and accompaniment by Barbara Capogna Macko.
After university and studying stage management at the Bristol Old Vic, Smethurst worked as a journalist for several outlets, including ABC TV, The Reading Evening Post and BBC1’s Midlands Today. Following a few radio plays, Smethurst joined the writing staff of long-running radio drama The Archers in 1974, which had experienced a ratings decline. In 1978, he became the series editor, revitalizing the series, bringing in new writers (among them Susan Hill) and creating characters like Susan Carter, Caroline Sterling and the Grundy family. He would stay in this position until 1986.
The Yale School of Drama (also known as YSD) is a graduate professional school of Yale University located in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1924 as the Department of Drama in the School of Fine Arts, the school provides training in every discipline of the theatre: acting, design (set design, costume design, lighting design, projection design, and sound design), directing, dramaturgy and dramatic criticism, playwriting, stage management, technical design and production, and theatre management. The school operates in partnership with the Yale Repertory Theatre, also located in New Haven.
In the UK, the structure of a stage management team depends on the type and size of the production. It can consist of stage manager (overseeing the running of the show), deputy stage manager (commonly called DSM), and assistant stage manager (commonly called ASM). A fringe theatre show may employ one stage manager to carry out the tasks of an entire team, whereas a West End theatre show in London might employ multiple ASMs. Professional stage managers are represented by the British Actors' Equity Association, which also represents performers.
Abhilash Pillai was born on 17 May 1969 at Thiruvananthapuram to S.R.K. Pillai and Sarada Pillai. In 1991, he completed his Bachelor of Theatre Arts from The School of Drama, University of Calicut and secured third rank. He also completed a three-year Postgraduate Diploma in Dramatics with a specialization in Design and Direction from the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, with distinction in 1994. He then obtained a two-year Diploma in Theater Production and Stage Management with honors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), London in 1998.
Brovun was born on 24 July 1946 in Stalino (present day - Donetsk). He graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Donetsk National University and later from the Faculty of stage management at Lugansk State Institute for Culture and Arts. Brovun was a coach for Donetsk oblast' and the USSR military all-round teams; under his leadership USSR team repeatedly won the games, and in 1974 it won the Soviet Union championship. In 1974 he arrived at the Donetsk Academical Ukrainian Musical Drama Theatre, and in 1987 took charge of it.
There are also auditions for national cast productions, usually to premiere the school edition of two well- known Broadway shows. In 2008 the chosen casts and crews put on a productions of "Hairspray" and "Sweeney Todd". The festival features an event called the National Individual Events Showcase. This gives students the chance to perform in the categories of monologue, duet acting, solo/duet/group musical theatre, and mime, or show off their skills in the technical of categories costume design and construction, publicity design, scenic design, stage management, lighting design, and short film.
The Faction have been awarded the Peter Brook Ensemble Award and won the OffWestEnd award for Best Ensemble. In addition, they have been nominated for OffWestEnd awards in the following categories: Best Director / Best Actor (3 nominations) / Best Supporting Actress / Best Supporting Actor / Best Lighting Design and Most Promising New Playwright. The Faction were also nominated for OffWestEnd's TBC Award – for the productions that defy traditional categories. In addition, The Faction were nominated for Best Artistic Director at the London Theatre Awards, and for the Individual Award at the National Stage Management Awards.
Florida School of the Arts (colloquially known as FloArts) is an accredited arts school under the umbrella of St. Johns River State College. It is located in the F building of the Palatka Campus. It was first opened in 1976, designed to be an intimate setting where students received close and individual attention. Florida School of the Arts offers course concentrations with accredited Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees in the fields of Visual Art (Fine Art, Graphic Design/New Media, Photography), Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Production/Design (Costume Design, Scenic/Lighting Design, Stage Management).
Every opera company needed singers who, although well schooled and competent, were more or less anonymous, but it was questionable whether such artists should figure prominently in what was a once-in-a-lifetime jamboree. The Met's brisk stage management had not helped matters by hustling singers through their contributions without allowing the customary encores or floral tributes, or even more than a few ovations. It was disappointing to spend a long time at an event such as this without finding oneself shedding a nostalgic tear. This was not to say that the Met had not done "a magnificent job of hugging itself".

Interest and cultural groups include Board Games Club, Debate Teams, Creative Media Club, Creative Writing Club, Dance Team, Drama Club, Fine Art Photography Club, Handicraft Club, Home Economics Club, Literacy Leaders and Reading Club, and STEM Club. Music groups include Assembly Band, Beat Club, Choir, Chinese Instrumental Ensemble, and Orchestra. Service and spirit groups include Catering Team, Christian Fellowship, Community Service Group, The Hong Kong Award for Young People, Green Club & Ambassador, Scout, Stage Management Crew, and Student Librarian.
Ron West was raised in New Zealand, where he worked in picture theatres as an ice cream boy and a projectionist, and he also worked in theatre stage management, and as a musician or conductor in orchestra music pits. During 13 years as a sound engineer for the Commonwealth Film Unit in Sydney, he ventured into film production and photography. Ron's late wife Mandy shared his interest in the theatre, and during the 1980s she directed an amateur theatrical group, The Majestic Players, in pantomimes and plays on stage at the Majestic, the stage having been enlarged in 1979.
The Stage Managers' Association, or SMA, is the only professional association for stage managers in the United States. It was founded in 1982 in New York City, with four major regional centers in the East, West, Central and NY Metro, it unites more than 1000 American stage managers in all areas of the entertainment arena including dance, theatre, opera, special events, concerts, circus, and cruise ships. Many of its members are represented by the 4 A's unions. It also represents American Stage Management abroad, with an international cohort which connects its members to stage managers around the globe.
The School of Theatre and Dance is a department within the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts at the University of Houston. The School offers both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs, including a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting, stage management, technical theatre, theatre education and a joint degree in both playwrighting and dramaturgy; all at the undergraduate level. Graduate programs are offered in: acting, theatre studies, theatrical design, technical direction, and theatre education. The current Director of the School of Theatre and Dance is Rob Shimko, a position he has held since 2016.
Bartlett played in several bar bands in Albany and Rochester, New York, ran a lighting design and stage management company and managed a record store. His experience also includes booking and concert promotion and theatrical scoring. He scored the world premiere of Toni Morrison's play Dreaming Emmett, as well as creating scores for New York's Circle Rep, the Nikolais Dance Theatre Company, and the Empire State Youth Theatre Institute. He wrote and performed the soundtrack for Christa McAuliffe: Reach for the Stars, an internationally released documentary on Christa McAuliffe and the space shuttle Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, as well as thousands of commercials.
Begum has also been involved in stage productions for Talawa Theatre Company both as an actress and in stage management. In 2002, she made her debut performance as an actress on Wide Asleep which was a collection of personal narratives woven together using movement, spoken word, photography and dance, it was performed at Arcola Theatre in London. In 2003, she worked as photographer and stage manager on an experimental piece entitled Pace which was performed by an ensemble at London's Soho Theatre and Tabernacle Arts Centre. In 2004, she worked on an interdisciplinary piece called Reach which was performed at Drill Hall Theatre.
Shows that employ three stage managers have a PSM and two ASMs, though the program credits may list them as production stage manager (first or head stage manager), stage manager (second stage manager), and assistant stage manager (third stage manager). Some professional stage managers on plays and musicals may choose to be represented by a union known as the Actors' Equity Association, which also represents performers. In addition to performing their typical stage management duties (e.g., maintaining the prompt book and calling performances), Equity stage managers are also required to uphold the union's rules and rights for Equity artists.
Daniels relocated from the city in 1997, and MYT is now run by Therese Burazin. The Milwaukee Youth Theatre has since moved to the Eastside of Milwaukee to become a part of the nationally recognized Resident Artist Program at Lincoln Center for the Arts, an arts-focused middle school in the Milwaukee Public School system. Each year MYT produces at least three theatrical productions and holds a variety of camps, classes and workshops. Milwaukee Youth Theatre provides many kids' their first chance to perform onstage and involves kids in all aspects of the performances, including playwriting, lighting, sound, and stage management.
After the overwhelming success of the 2008 festival, there was demand to stage it as an annual event. Plans were put in place in late 2008 and the decision was made to keep the event in Belhaven Park despite the inevitable increase in size off the event. At an early stage management of local establishment The Commercial Hotel got on board as a main sponsor of the event, handling the bars and catering. Feedback suggested that the event be kept as to local bands thus keeping the community vibe, although 2008 favourites, The Underground Jam, were invited back to close the event.
Gates was involved in stage management by the early 1950s, and began scriptwriting in his spare time. The non-profit academy aims to discover talented young actors, directors and producers from the Middle East. Although open to applicants from all backgrounds, META was designed to offer an opportunity for underprivileged, talented youth to upskill by means of workshops, master classes and special events. With the help of industry professionals, participants are instructed in areas of performance, directing, writing, producing, stage management, lighting, set design, costumes, and makeup application.
During a theatrical technical rehearsal one of the stage management team will be ready to mark positions as required. To enable spike placement to be done quickly, staff may pre-cut small strips of tape either by scoring tape still on the roll or by cutting strips of tape and placing them onto a small piece of wood or clipboard called a spike board. When spiking a position for a performer, a small cross is typically used. For furniture pieces and scenery wagons, the marks are usually two pieces of tape laid in an "L" shape at two points or corners of the item.
This means that they are free to talk to their colleagues in the booth, and also the Stage management team and other crew members via the communications headset. A booth that is sealed to the auditorium also allows for noisier equipment to be used, in particular computers and computer-based lighting desks, which require built-in fans in order to work properly. The downside to having a sealed booth is that it can be difficult for the sound engineer to mix without being able to hear what is happening on stage. In this situation a separate table may be set up in the house for the sound engineer.

In 1919, Bernard continued his theatrical work, designing sets for Sir Thomas Beecham's Ring Cycle at Covent Garden. By the 1920s, he began to display an interest in trade and industry, new materials and techniques and adopted a populist approach to decoration. He became a consultant to the Board of Overseas Trade, overhauling the lighting and stage management at the Admiralty Theatre of H. M. Paul Groothuis is a Dutch sound designer who has had a long career working on the London stage. Groothuis was born in the Netherlands and moved to the UK in 1979 to study Stage Management at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He joined the National Theatre on the South Bank in 1984 and has designed sound for more than 120 NT productions. Some of his recent productions are Her Naked Skin, Rafta, Rafta..., The Man of Mode, The Life of Galileo, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Once in a Lifetime, His Dark Materials, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Stuff Happens.
In 2011 for the Ontario Sears Drama Festival Westdale performed a production of Elephant's Graveyard. In 2012 a collective of students wrote the Historical piece Triangle, the collective focuses on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and the problems of working without a union. The collective was performed at the District, Regional and Provincial levels of the Sears Ontario Drama Festival winning awards in Stage Management, Music, Acting, Technical Theatre and Direction. In 2012, Theatre Westdale presented a representation of Little Shop of Horrors, by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, however the production was cut short because of the labor dispute between the Ontario Government and the Teacher's Unions.
Zak Keith is a British multi-genred guitarist, based in Stockholm, Sweden, since 1998. He was band leader for Bob Manning's Soul Enterprise until 2001. Active internationally, he has performed with artists such as Angélique Kidjo, Julius E. Green of The Platters, Pete York of Spencer Davis Group, Jon Lord (of Deep Purple), the late "Master" Henry Gibson, the late Malando Gassama, Bernard Purdie and Eric Bibb. He has performed as part of an opening act for, or held various stage-management positions on assignment for, major international various artists, including Leif Garrett, John Farnham, Wilson Pickett, Isaac Hayes, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

Christine McKenna (born 1951) is a British actress active during the 1970s and 1980s, best known for playing "Christina" in the television series Flambards. McKenna was a drama student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in the early 1970s. During her summer holidays she learned stage management and theatrical wardrobe at the Byre Theatre. Upon graduating, she appeared in productions for the National Theatre and in the West End of London, including Stephen Sondheim´s A Little Night Music with Jean Simmons and Hermione Gingold, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Great Expectations, and played "Polly" in The Boy Friend with Glynis Johns, "Sally Bowles" in Cabaret, and "Moll" in Moll Flanders.

Performance Production was established as an independent department so that it would be able to provide support to major productions of the Theatre, Dance and Music departments and provide its students with experience in all three. Recognizing the vital importance of liberal arts studies as a part of the education of an artist, Cornish established its seventh department, Humanities and Sciences, some years later. Humanities and Sciences had been an important part of the Cornish education even before the accreditation process of the 1970s, but the important step of granting department status reaffirmed the commitment to "whole person" education.

Browning regularly appeared in live professional theatre in New Zealand. He started his career at The Mercury Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1977 as an intern, immersing himself in all aspects of theatre, including stage management, lighting, sound and special effects operation, set construction, costuming as well as acting. In 1980 he joined the Court Theatre company, playing Hamlet among many other roles and continued to work there and throughout New Zealand until the present day in a wide variety of genres from modern comedy to Classical. In 1981, he joined the core cast of Australian soap opera The Sullivans, and afterwards worked often in Australia in theatre, film and television.
These ensembles each perform several times a year. The School of Design and Production is responsible for the scenery, costumes, wigs, makeup, lighting, sound, and stage management for all shows produced by the School of Drama, two operas that UNCSA produces each year through the Fletcher Opera Institute, as well as dance performances, although dance costumes are provided partly by the Costume Department and also by the School of Dance's own professional costume shop. The Lighting Department each December presents a showcase entitled "Photona" which combines industry-leading and latest lighting as well as projection equipment. The School of Drama offers a Master of Fine Arts in acting, design, sound design, directing, dramaturgy and dramatic criticism, playwriting, stage management, technical design and production, and theatre management. Students must hold an undergraduate degree and complete their program of study with distinction, which requires three years in residence. The school also offers a Doctor of Fine Arts to students who hold an M.F.A. degree in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism and have written a dissertation approved by the D.F.A. committee. A Certificate in Drama is available to those students who do not hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college, but who are admitted and complete the same training as M.F.A. students.

In 2010, Michael Grandage, a Central graduate and artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse (from 2002—2012), was appointed president.
Having worked on the fringe and at Sheffield in her early years (occasionally in stage management, although she also participated in the Channel 4 Regional Directors Programme), she soon joined the Education team at the Young Vic for a year. Following that became the Head of Education and Participation at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 1993 to 1997, where she created a successful and wide-ranging education and outreach strategy and commissioned and directed new writing. She then became an Associate Director of the Octagon Theatre Bolton from 1997 and then went on to become Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Salisbury Playhouse from 1999 to 2007. Under her leadership, the Playhouse became one of the leading regional producing theatres of the last decade.
RADA: BA (Hons) in Acting RADA also teaches Technical Theatre & Stage Management (TTSM) - a two- year Foundation Degree and with a further 'completion' year to BA level which has to be separately applied for and which allows for specialisation in all theatre craft areas. The college is only engaged in further education and has no second level courses or classes.

Students travel between Carey's main campuses and the sports complex in charter buses. In 2010, the De Young Centre for Performing Arts was opened by the Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser AC. The centre has three main sections: the school's reception foyer and gallery space; the Ian Woolf Auditorium with a 350-seat capacity and full stage management facilities; and the Laycock School of Music and Drama which features large rehearsal rooms, classrooms including two music technology rooms and practice and tuition studios. In 2016, the Centre for Learning and Innovation (CLI) was opened by the Governor of Victoria, The Hon. Linda Dessau AM. The CLI contains an Information Resource Centre which, in addition to housing an extensive catalogue, offers a variety of study spaces and laboratories.
The School of Media, Culture & Society at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and the Gaiety Theatre officially launched Scotland’s first Learning Theatre on Friday 19 September 2014. The launch event, which saw representatives from UWS, the Gaiety, as well as the National Theatre of Scotland in attendance, marks the first stage in the development of the partnership Learning Theatre, which will provide a centre for education, training and research in the area of performance and theatre craft. UWS enjoys close links with the Gaiety and the University’s new BA Technical Theatre degree, delivered in conjunction with the Theatre, had its first intake in September. The course, the only one of its kind in the country, offers thorough vocational training for those looking to work in stage management and theatre production.
Costumes are produced by a staff of about 60 (artisans, cutters, designers, dyers, first hands, hair and wig specialists, stitchers, technicians, and wardrobe managers). Scenery is provided by a staff of technicians, carpenters, a welder, an engineer and a buyer and moved by a crew of 30 stagehands; lighting staff number twelve, and sound and properties each are managed by staffs of six to ten. A stage management crew of approximately 16, including production stage managers, assistant stage managers, and production assistants ensure the smooth operation of the three theatres and a deck manager coordinates the Green Show. Reflecting the profession of Festival founder Angus Bowmer, a professor of English at the then Southern Oregon Normal School (now Southern Oregon University), education has played an important role at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival from its inception.
The company of permanent members and production management are located at 12 Vladimirski Prospekt in the historic landmark 19 Century mansion formerly built for and owned by Korsakov and Prince Golitsyn families, then owned by the "Society of Managers and Merchants" before the Communist Revolution of 1917. The building was nationalized and maintained by the Soviet government and some renovations and reconstructions of the interiors and facade were done during 1930s – 1980s. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the economic situation changed dramatically and the landmark building became attractive to numerous privately held company businesses and restaurants. However, the Government still owned the building and continued supporting the company of actors at this location by subsidizing the troupe and stage management, and also by funding the interior and exterior restorations during 2000 – 2010.

Born in Highgate, to Bertie Russell, a P&O; clerk, and his wife, Alicia (née Quinn) It was only by including a stage management element to her course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama that Russell was able to her father's resistance to her pursuing such a career. She began her brief career as an actress while still a student working on productions supervised by Michael Barry who cast her in Toad of Toad Hall, and later in the same year in The Insect Play (both 1950). She became more interested in working in television than acting, preferring a three-week assignment in the medium over a ten-week touring production in Ireland. She was the first female floor manager to work for the BBC, her non-gendered credit being a means of avoiding problems with prospective technical crews.
In the school holidays, as a teenager, he obtained work as an electrical stage hand / light board operator in West End theatre land, obtaining a highly coveted NATKE union card. On leaving school, he worked full-time in the theatre, including stage management at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry, where from time to time he was required to play bit parts, and he actually 'trod the boards' with the likes of Ian McKellen, David Warner and Edina Ronay. He followed this by joining the Royal Air Force where he trained as a fast jet pilot. He then worked for six years on sales and marketing at Lesney Products, during which time he went to night school at Enfield Tech (latterly part of Middlesex University) obtaining an HNC in Business Studies and a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
He also created a unit set – a framework on which the sets for each opera could easily be interchanged, which, according to Frederic Lloyd, the General Manager of the D'Oyly Carte Company, "saved the management an enormous amount of expense and facilitated taking more operas to more theatres."Goffin's obituary in The Savoyard In addition, Goffin designed a number of posters and other graphic art for the D'Oyly Carte organisation. Goffin wrote books including Stage Lighting (1938), The Realm of Art (1946), Stage Lighting For Amateurs (1947) and The art and science of stage management (1953). His The Realm of Art, and his meeting Leon MacLaren, led the School of Economic Science to begin teaching philosophy; Goffin later presented their early public philosophy lectures.. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1948.
The latest production is played by Harsha Bulathsinhala, Sumith Rathnayake, Niroshan Wijesinghe, Indika Jayasinghe, Piyumi Shanika Botheju, Randima Thilini Perera, Anura Bandara Rajaguru, Ferni Roshini, Mahesh Uyanwatte, Gamini Samarakoon and Rodney Warnakula who was there from the first show of Tharawo Igilethi. Incidentally the return of ‘Tharawo Igilethi’ with its popular music direction also coincides with the sixth death anniversary of its music director Gunadasa Kapuge. Behind the screen in the new production are Newton Gunasekara handling stage management, Upali Herath the stage setting, Swineetha Subasinghe as the costume designer, Jerome de Silva as the dance choreographer, Nimal Rajapaksa as the make up and Susantha Nanayakkara and Rohana Hewawitharana in charge of the art direction. The new music arrangements based on Kapuge’s original composition were by Harsha Bulathsinhala. Bandula Ekanayake, Channa Fernando, H. D. Premasiri and Bandara Eheliyagoda on behalf of ‘Serenity Creations’ have produced the play.
In 2010, under the direction of Amanda Witt, Thespian Troupe #264 again placed in the top five schools at the WV State Thespian Festival for their performance of Shirley Lauro's "A Piece of My Heart." Other awards to PHS at the 2010 Festival included the naming of Audriana Davis (Leeann) as WV Best Actress, Danielle (Steele) as WV Best Supporting Actress and first place in Solo Musical Theatre Performance, second place in Stage Management to Meghan Handley, third place in fantasy makeup to Brittani Hill and a Best Sound Design award to Timm Romine. For her win in Solo Musical Performance, Danielle Grays was invited to compete at the International Thespian Festival in June 2010. Under the direction of Lori Zyla, Troupe #264 has placed in the top five schools at state festival, once in 2011 and once in 2015, and continues to be competitive at the state festival.

Briers met Ann Davies while both were at Liverpool Rep. Davies was employed as a stage manager, and had acted on television and in films from the mid-1950s. Soon after meeting, he borrowed £5 from his mother, bought an engagement ring and they were married within six months. Sexton began his career in production with the Ice Follies-Holiday on Ice. He was involved in all of the tasks related to the show’s production, including stage management, where he discovered an affinity for stage and lighting design. Throughout the 1970s, he served as a lighting designer, production consultant, production manager or tour manager for dozens of stadium and arena tours for artists including Poco, America, The Rolling Stones, Jackson Browne, Diana Ross and others. Based in Los Angeles, Sexton was active in social, political, and environmental issues. In 1979, he was recruited by music legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Graham Nash to produce No Nukes, composed of five shows at Madison Square Garden (which featured Crosby Stills and Nash, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, among others) and an outdoor rally which drew more than 200,000 people on the then-empty landfill section of Battery Park.
The play, Brenton's first for Portable Theatre, was directed by David Hare, designed by Tony Bicat and the stage management was by Snoo Wilson. Hare continued on as director when the play was presented at the Royal Court on 12 March 1970. The production ran at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center June 1-17, 2018.
