Al-Shaghouri himself met al-Alawi in 1932 in Damascus, but it was al-Hashimi who served as his spiritual guide. Finding that al-Shaghouri was already suitable, al-Hashimi placed him in a spiritual retreat. Caelin, the brother of Cedd and Chad, was chaplain to Ethelwald, a nephew of Oswiu, who had been appointed to administer the coastal area of Deira. Caelin suggested to Ethelwald the foundation of a monastery, in which he could one day be buried, and where prayers for his soul would continue. Caelin introduced Ethelwold to Cedd, who needed just such a political base and spiritual retreat.

That title belongs to Qinghai Lake (more than twice the size of Namtso); which lies more than to the north-east in Qinghai. Namtso has five uninhabited islands of reasonable size, in addition to one or two rocky outcrops. The islands have been used for spiritual retreat by pilgrims who walk over the lake's frozen surface at the end of winter, carrying their food with them. They spend the summer there, unable to return to shore again until the water freezes the following winter.

Cobb Mountain was a popular recreation area from the 1870s to 1970s. It is currently home to a handful of spiritual retreat centers, including The Mountain of Attention Meditation sanctuary of Adidam, and The Heart Consciousness Church Harbin Hot Springs. That friend gave her the phone number of a well-known priest Josemaría Escrivá and Ortiz de Landázuri met Escrivá for the first time on 25 January 1944. Shortly following this, Ortiz de Landázuri went on a spiritual retreat and on 19 March she sent a letter to Escrivá asking to be admitted to Opus Dei. On 5 March 1951 - at Escrivá's invitation - she moved to Mexico to spread the message of Opus Dei.

The accidental death of his only son in 1970 marked a turning- point in his life. Hijron Ka Khanqah is an Islamic monument located in Mehrauli, South Delhi, India. The literal meaning of Hijron ka Khanqah is a "Sufi spiritual retreat for eunuchs", with the word hijron (plural of hijra) more widely referring to a specific community of transgender women throughout the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the many monuments located in the Mehrauli village within the Archeological Park. It is maintained well by the Hijras of Turkman Gate, in Shahjahanabad (present day Old Delhi) who are in possession of this 15th- century monument since the 20th century.

Wilson also appointed the Sanctuary Review Committee which was a group of biblical scholars and administrators which met to decide the church's response to theologian Desmond Ford, who had challenged details of the church's "investigative judgment" teaching. The meeting was held from 11–15 August 1980, at the Glacier View Ranch, a church- owned spiritual retreat and conference centre in Colorado, United States. Although the group produced and voted a Consensus Statement which Ford agreed to, Wilson ignored it and drew up a separate document emphasizing points of disagreement, which was circulated to administrators present only. Angela Merici with the intent to join them, but then she abandoned this. In fact, in the summer of 1942, having already moved to Massa Marittima, she became engaged to Mario Pratelli, from Agordo, who she married on 31 March 1943 and on 29 December of the same year, Alberto Mario Pratelli was born, the only son of Norma and Mario.

It was sometime later that she would meet Luigi Tezza (in a confessional when she sought his advice) on 17 December 1891 at the end of a spiritual retreat she was attending; Tezza desired the establishment of an all-female religious congregation dedicated to caring for the sick and dying, and asked if Vannini would be interested in joining him. Vannini accepted Tezza's offer after discerning and reflecting on her vocation on 2 February 1892 and the two began to form a group of other women to serve as the basis for their congregation. The decisive moment came on 19 March 1892 when she and two companions received the scapular and the religious habit of the Camillian tertiaries and on 19 March 1893 professed her private vows as "Giuseppina".

The creation of this community is due to Antoinette Butte (1898-1986), a committed French lay Protestant, leader of the French Women Scouts Federation from 1916 onwards, where she encouraged spiritual practicePierre Bolle, "Antoinette Butte, les Éclaireuses et l'Évangile", .. In 1929, she opened a spiritual retreat centre in Saint- Germain-en-Laye and then, in 1937, the French Pastors Association asked her to take care of a house for spiritual retreats and meetings in Pomeyrol. During WWII, the occupation of France and the commandeering of the house of Saint- Germain en Laye by the Germans caused the community to regroup in Pomeyrol. It opened its door widely to numerous meetings of pastorals, catechetics, and adult movements, as well as to many refugees and fugitives. It is within this framework that the "Theses of Pomeyrol", one of the first acts of spiritual resistance to Nazism in France, were developed in 1941.

Von Frankenberg died in 1950 at the age of 61 and was buried in the Camden cemetery. He left his personal library, a collection of "many rare translations of Muslim, Eastern and other texts he collected in Europe between the 1890s and 1920s", as well as many early Australian editions of works by Inayat Khan, other pamphlets and ephemera that shed light on the early history of Sufism in Australia. After his death, the small movement that he had founded split, with some members following his student the Australian poet Francis Brabazon into becoming disciples of Meher Baba in Queensland and Dr Karel Frederik Rechlien Jansen (Murshid Sharif), later the National Representative for the Sufi Movement in Australia (SMIA), an affiliate of the International Sufi Movement. Avatar's Abode is a spiritual retreat about north of Brisbane, near Woombye, dedicated to Meher Baba, established by Brabazon after purchasing the land with money left to him by Von Frankenberg.

Five Iron significantly scaled back their touring for most of 2002, headlining only one tour among several festival appearances and fifteen dates on the Vans Warped Tour. As had been band tradition, Five Iron met with their pastor for a spiritual retreat at the end of the year to discuss their forthcoming career plans; Micah Ortega recalled this meeting being the first time where opinions were sharply divided between members, primarily over whether to continue Five Iron Frenzy full-time or part-time. In light of several other contributing factors - not the least of which included Andrew Verdecchio's decision to leave the Christian faith and therefore the band - Five Iron unanimously agreed to disband at the end of 2003, allowing themselves enough time to record a final album and embark on a "farewell tour" for the sake of their fans. The group officially announced their break-up in an open letter posted to their website on February 14, 2003, extensively thanking their fanbase and detailing their plans for their shows and releases up until what would be their final concert in November.

Filipe Neri Ferrão opened the IV centenary Jubilee celebrations with a solemn high mass. A series of programs were organized all through the year. Some of the main events were: a spiritual Retreat; an Essay Competition for seminarians all over India; a 4-day long International Seminar convened by Dr. Victor Ferrão on Science and Religion focusing on "Catholicity in the World of Science"; Bible sessions for the laity; lenten Retreat for the neighbouring faithful; Seminars for Catechists of the surrounding parishes; a Konkani Seminar Amchem Daiz on the contribution of Rachol to Konkani literature; a Konkani play Panz, by the noted Konkani writer Pundalik Naik; an English operetta Be the Moon, libreto by Fr. Simião Fernandes and music by Fr. Romeo Monteiro, on the heroic life of the saintly Goan priest and Apostle of Sri Lanka Joseph Vaz (canonised by Pope Francis in 2015); and an all-Goa level Football Tournament for Altar Boys.

Philip Goldberg, in his book American Veda, writes that the Beatles' trip to Rishikesh "may have been the most momentous spiritual retreat since Jesus spent those forty days in the wilderness". Despite their rejection of the Maharishi, the Beatles generated wider interest in Transcendental Meditation, which encouraged the study of Eastern spirituality in Western popular culture. Chopra credits Harrison with spreading TM and other Eastern spiritual practices to America almost single- handedly. Spiritual biographer Gary Tillery also recognises the Beatles, or more specifically Harrison, as having "abruptly brought Indian spirituality to everyday awareness" through their association with the Maharishi. Tillery writes that, while the influence of Indian gurus such as Vivekananda, Yogananda, the Maharishi and Prabhupada was well established by the late 1960s, it was the Beatles' endorsement of their respective philosophies that most contributed to yoga and meditation centres becoming ubiquitous in Western cities and towns over subsequent decades. According to author Andrew Grant Jackson: > The Beats had promoted Buddhism since the 1950s, but it was George > Harrison's songs espousing Hindu philosophy and featuring Indian musicians, > and the Beatles' study of Transcendental Meditation, that truly kick-started > the human potential movement of the 1970s (rebranded New Age in the 1980s).
