Abid Rogers Bhatti in his book A Textbook of Soteriology writes about the meaning of metanoia/μετάνοια. In the Urdu Bible, the word for “repentance” is “toba.” Toba means regret, grief, and sorrow over sinful deeds that lead to a change of mind and life. Abid agrees with TertullianEdward J Anton, Repentance: A Cosmic Shift of Mind and Heart (Discipleship Publications, 2005) 32-33. in preferring “conversion” rather than “repentance” to translate metanoia/μετάνοια in Mark 1:4. Furthermore, even Ujou's relatives are split on whether his nursery rhymes are about particular people or not. Ujou's granddaughter, Fujiko, as representative of the Ujou Noguchi Memorial Hall, stated in a speech that "Shabondama" expresses his sorrow over the premature death of his daughter. Nobuya and Fujiko also differ on their stance towards the official theory; Nobuya consistently opposes it while Fujiko made a commemorative speech at the celebration of the completion of the "Kimi-chan" statue. However, Nobuya also thinks that Mokichi Noguchi (Ujou's younger cousin), who was a devoted follower of Sen Katayama's theory on Socialism, had a huge effect on Ujou's early poems that weren't nursery rhymes.
There are also some songs that express sorrow over war (from a Republican perspective), such as Only our rivers run free, and some have been covered by bands that have tweaked lyrics to be explicitly anti-war, such as the cover of The Patriot Game by Scottish group The Bluebells. Over the years, a number of bands have performed "crossover" music, that is, Irish rebel lyrics and instrumentation mixed with other, more pop styles. Damien Dempsey is known for his pop-influenced rebel ballads and bands like Seanchai and the Unity Squad and Beltaine's Fire combine Rebel music with Political hip hop and other genres.

Tang Dynasty depiction of Confucius Confucian role ethics centers around filial piety or xiao, a respect for family members. The concept is elaborated in the Confucian text Classic of Filial Piety: "In serving his parents, a filial son reveres them in daily life; he makes them happy while he nourishes them; he takes anxious care of them in sickness; he shows great sorrow over their death; and he sacrifices to them with solemnity." Filial duty requires the desire to be filial, and not just the act of filial piety. In Confucian societies, filial piety determines the "moral worth" of an individual in a community and acts as a form of social capital.

Ai argues that Kikuchi filled the holes in his research with his imagination, but Kikuchi insists there are no errors in the basis of his theory. Ai also insists that, based on Noguchi Nobuya's (Ujou's son) research, "Ujou's nursery rhymes, of which "Akai Kutsu" is included, are not about any particular person." On the other hand, Kukichi states that "Akai Kutsu" and some of Ujou's other works are in fact referring to particular people. The two are even in disagreement about the interpretation of "Shabondama" in which the line "So soon after it was born, it broke and was no more" may express Ujou's sorrow over the premature death of his eldest daughter The two are in complete agreement on the fact that Kayo honestly spent her life believing Kimi had been adopted by missionaries and gone to America.

Mencius, trans. The ritual took place in public and private spaces in downtown Tucson, and involved art objects Johnson created for the event.
The sack of Amorium was one of the most devastating events in the long history of Arab raids into Anatolia. Theophilos reportedly fell ill soon after the city's fall, and although he recovered, his health remained in poor state until his death, three years later. Later Byzantine historians attribute his death before the age of thirty to his sorrow over the impact of the city's loss, although this is most likely a legend., Chapter 3.. The fall of Amorium inspired several legends and stories among the Byzantines, and can be traced in surviving literary works such as the Song of Armouris or the ballad Kastro tis Orias ("Castle of the Fair Maiden").. Arabs on the other hand celebrated the capture of Amorium, which became the subject of Abu Tammam's famous Ode on the Conquest of Amorium..For an English translation of Abu Tammam's poem, cf. .
Padovese was fatally stabbed in his summer residence in southern Turkey on 3 June 2010, and according to some reports he died en route to a hospital in the town of Iskenderun later that day. Catholic officials, including the Apostolic Nuncio to Turkey Antonio Lucibello and papal spokesman Father Federico Lombardi, expressed "shock and sorrow" over Padovese's death. Padovese had recently been warned by the government, which had originally connected Padovese and Altun, that Altun had embraced religious fundamentalism and on that basis Padovese had canceled plans to visit Cyprus during Pope Benedict’s visit rather than put Altun near the Pope.

1156–92), the Seljuk Sultan of Iconium, and not, as was customary, with the exploits of Manuel himself.. Among other things, Alexios was accused of "dabbling in sorcery" and conspiring with a Latin "wizard" to drug the Empress Maria of Antioch to prevent her from giving birth to an heir. The historian John Kinnamos maintained that the charges of conspiracy were genuine, but Niketas Choniates believed that Axouch had been set up by the insecure Manuel.. In particular, Choniates reports that Manuel suspected both Axouch and his cousin, the future Andronikos I Komnenos (r. 1182–85), because of the AIMA prophecy, that stated that his successor's name would begin with an "A".. Whatever the truth, Alexios was found guilty and confined to a monastery for the rest of his days, despite his wife's repeated efforts to secure his release by Manuel. Non-authoritative pilgrim notes of their experience there emphasizes several points: warnings of prophetic troubled times meant good tidings of God's will, that a universal peace is to come, but dire events and overturning of society must be borne first, comparisons of the revelation of Jesus and of Baháʼu'lláh, and an emphasis to not use miracles as proofs of the religion or station of Baháʼu'lláh, though stories of miracles were also shared. During his interview with ʻAbdu'l-Bahá, Breakwell explained that he benefited from the cotton industry which employed child labor and his sorrow over such work and asked ʻAbdu'l-Bahá what to do about his situation. On hearing this, ʻAbdu'l-Bahá instructed Thomas Breakwell to cable his resignation, which Breakwell did while there. Though social opposition to child labor in America dated from the 1870s regionally, nationally organized activism would begin circa 1901 with precursors of the National Child Labor Committee.
The most prevalent theme of this era is loyalty to a lost cause, arising as a reaction to the rise of the new Chosŏn dynasty as the most powerful groups of the period struggled with where their loyalties lay. However, exacerbating the situation were the simultaneous struggles of China's Sung dynasty and the ascending Ming dynasty, further conflicting the people's loyalties. Thus, the ensuing confusion and chaos of the times gave way to themes of strong emotions such as regret over aging and sorrow over love, as many sought to express their mixed, complicated thoughts and harken back to the time of peace and stability. One of the most famous sijo poems that demonstrates such political upheavals and tensions of the period is Chŏng Mongju's sijo, seen below, with the English translation: Chŏng, a great scholar of the time referred to as P'oŭn, supposedly wrote this poem in response to Yi Seong-gye's son's suggestion to defect and join the growing Chosŏn movement.
On Sundays, in place of the eklogarion, a hymn called the Evlogitaria is chanted in honor of the Resurrection, commemorating the journey of the Myrrhbearers on their way to the Tomb of Christ and the announcement of the Resurrection of Jesus. If a feast day with megalynarion falls on a Sunday, only the refrain of the megalynarion is chanted, once, after which the evlogitaria are chanted. (If, however, a Great Feast of the Lord falls on a Sunday, nothing of the ordinary Sunday service is chanted, but everything is chanted for the Great Feast, and the order follows that of weekdays.) On the three Sundays before the beginning of Great Lent, Psalm 136 (KJV: ), "By the waters of Babylon", is added to the Polyeleos. This psalm recounts the sorrow of the Jews during the Babylonian captivity, and their yearning for Jerusalem; and is prescribed by the Church at this time to bring forth in the faithful sorrow over their captivity to sin and yearning for the Heavenly Jerusalem.
