He is best remembered as "the father of the modern Tunisian short story".. Douagi was also known for his versatility as a sketch artist, songwriter, playwright, and journalist.
Stephen B. Grimes started working in the British film industry after the war as a sketch-artist. From the mid-50s to the late 60s, Grimes worked almost exclusively with John Huston. Their longer term collaboration resulted in 14 films in over 30 years. Grimes also had a fruitful long-term working relationship with Sydney Pollack, making seven films with him.
He eventually became a cowboy. Jackson also began sketching, according to The New York Times, in the ways of Frederic Remington. During each winter season between 1938 and 1942, he returned to Chicago to continue his art education. In 1942, when he was eighteen years old, Jackson enlisted in the Marines during World War II and became a sketch artist for the Fifth Amphibious Corps.
John Brinckerhoff "Brinck" Jackson, J. B. Jackson, (September 25, 1909 – August 28, 1996) was a writer, publisher, instructor, and sketch artist in landscape design. Herbert Muschamp, architecture critic of the New York Times, stated that J. B. Jackson was "America's greatest living writer on the forces that have shaped the land this nation occupies." He was influential in broadening the perspective on the "vernacular" landscape.
Judith Ann Blish (née Lawrence; born December 14, 1934) is an American sketch artist and short fiction writer, known professionally as Judith L. Blish, Judy Blish, and J.A. Lawrence. From 1967 to 1978, she co-wrote a sequence of short story adaptations based on episodes of Star Trek with her husband, James Blish. Since 1975, Lawrence has been active in preserving and promoting her husband's work.
Paige has proven to be a skilled painter and sketch artist, first introduced in the season four episode, "Muse to My Ears". Paige also showcases her singing talents in the season five episode, "Sense and Sense Ability". While she has limited training in physical combat, her fighting skills are proficient enough to best Billie in hand-to-hand combat in the season eight episode, "Malice in Wonderland".

Scene transitions caught people's attention and the CGI of the helicopter was very photorealistic basing on the fact that Loukman is a creative motion graphics designer and sketch artist.

Nurnaningsih wandered the Indonesian archipelago for twelve years, taking odd jobs as a sketch artist, stage performer, English teacher, seamstress, singer, and – for six years – a football goalkeeper. She returned to film in 1968 with a bit part in Djakarta, Hongkong, Macao. After several more bit parts, she headlined in Seribu Janji Kumenanti (A Thousand Promises I Await) in 1972.

Barnum to instead become an established legitimate stage actor and sketch artist. He made his earliest motion picture appearance in 1897, for which he received $600,The Moving Picture World, Volume 27 By Moving Picture Exhibitors' Association 1916 pg. 1136 and his last in 1913.
Charles Buckles Falls was born on December 10, 1874, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In his early twenties he moved to Chicago, where he began his career as an architect's assistant and as a sketch artist for the Chicago Tribune. While working as an architect's assistant, he taught himself how to draft and ultimately became a freelance artist. Unhappy with his salary, Falls left the Chicago Tribune and moved to New York City around 1900.
In 1944 he started to work as a political caricaturist in the Flemish newspaper De Standaard. He also contributed illustrations and short comics for the newspaper and the youth supplement, and made illustrations and his first comics for the magazine Ons Volk. He was also a courtroom sketch artist for a while. In October 1947, Marc Sleen started a new series, The adventures of detective Van Zwam in the newspaper De Nieuwe Gids.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico, Rockwood is the oldest of four children of German-Thai descent and was raised in the Philippines, Spain, and Guam. At the age of 22, she moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles to finish art school and work with Michelle Bohbot and Bijan. She later turned down a job as a composite sketch artist for the LAPD and instead accepted a modeling job for designer Michelle of Bisou Bisou.

The Sound of Music was filmed in 70 mm Todd-AO by Ted McCord and produced with DeLuxe Color processing. Aerial footage was photographed with an MCS-70 camera. The sound was recorded on 70 mm six-track using a Westrex recording system. The sets used for the film were based on the storyboards of sketch artist Maurice Zuberano,Hirsch 1993, p. 70. who accompanied Wise to Austria to scout filming locations in November 1963.

Her first job in Hollywood was working as a sketch artist on Gone with the Wind. As Frank Bode, he is featured in the on-screen band and recorded soundtrack on the hit TV series, Peter Gunn, and on recordings with Elvis Presley (GI Blues). One track, Pocketful of Rainbows, was part of the soundtrack of the film Jerry Maguire. One of his closest friends, sketch artist Calvin (Cal) Bailey, used him as a subject in several works in charcoal or paint, once using Uffe's own brushes as a painting tool.

In 1831, Santarelli collaborated on the stucco decoration for the ballroom of the Meridiana building of Palazzo Pitti, built by Pasquale Poccianti. He was engaged by Poccianti to also complete stuccoes for the Chapel of the Madonna in the sanctuary of Maria Madre di Dio at San Romano, near San Miniato al Tedesco.
Peet then officially began working as a sketch artist, putting the words of a story man into pictures on the film. Peet's first encounter with Walt Disney directly was at this time, when Disney reviewed the storyboards Peet had put together. Even though both his boards were eventually cut from the film, Peet continued to work on Pinocchio for another year and a half. After that period, Peet worked on Fantasia and Dumbo.
Prior to appearing in Gone with the Wind, Rhett showed talent as a sketch artist and portrait painter. Between takes on Gone with the Wind, she made sketches and drawings of her fellow actors. Soon, Rhett was creating portraits of American servicemen in the Charleston vicinity. Some of her later works included portraits of Admiral Louis Emil Denfeld, and librarian Estellene P. Walker, the latter of which is on display in the South Carolina State Library.
After having married, Rawson worked as an author, historian, lecturer, watercolor painter and sketch artist. Chuck Donovan is a not so successful agent in New York who is hired by some television producers for a special job. He is to find the real identity of the woman who modeled for commercial sketch artist Bob Randolph as he created the famous "Randolph Girl". No one besides Randolph, not even the artist's secretary, Miss Brooks, has ever met the woman. Desperately, Donovan works to get Randolph to disclose the woman's identity, but the artist refuses.
Sometime later, her son developed the same ailment as Frank, in which Sylvia was advised by a doctor to seek a drier climate. In 1936, she re-located her family to Los Angeles, but because she did not have an American degree, she could not practice as an architect. A year later, Sylvia was hired as a sketch artist by Universal Studios on several movies such as One Hundred Men and a Girl (1937) and Mad About Music (1938).
The two witnesses to the murder scene were Greg and Debbie Spoth. Debbie Spoth, the daughter of a suburban policeman, was a sketch artist who drew an amazing likeness of Ray Ferritto for authorities. She took the sketch to her father, who in turn, took it to Cleveland police, who identified Ferritto from a police file. When a search warrant was executed at Ferritto's house in Erie, police found the registration papers for the bomb car and arrested him.
Díaz de León was a sketch artist, painter and photographer, but he was best known as a graphic artist and editor. He worked in ink and pencil and masters all types of engraving and printmaking work. Guillermo Jiménez wrote in 1934 that Díaz de León was one of Mexico's greatest book illustrators. Díaz de León is considered to have been ahead of his time, pioneering many of the techniques and aesthetics found in modern Mexican graphic work.
Dondi was adapted into a family- oriented film with David Kory in the title role and David Janssen as his American G.I. buddy, Dealey. Singer Patti Page also starred as Liz, and cameo appearances were made by Edson, as a police captain, and Hasen, as a police sketch artist. The movie (and especially Kory's performance) were negatively received by critics. Kory, the son of Rockette Diane Kory, had one minor TV role in 1963 and never made another film.
Brenda Naylor (5 July 1926 – 11 March 2016) was a British sculptor, known for her bronzes of dancers and sportspeople such as Rudolf Nureyev and Tip Foster. Born Brenda Clark on 5 July 1926 in Lewisham, London, she was one of four children of a Yorkshire-born watch and clockmaker father. She was educated at St Martin's College as a fashion sketch artist, and started working for Norman Hartnell in 1943, in a ten-year career.
Meltzer received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU), and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from University of Hawaii. He also attended the Art Students League of New York and the Jean Morgan School of Art. At the latter, he learned sketching and composition from newspaper and battlefield sketch artist Wallace Morgan. Meltzer also attended the School for Art Studies, where he learned techniques from artists Robert Benney and Sol Wilson.
Their first daughter Persis Goodale Thurston Taylor (1821–1906), born in Hawaii, became a painter and sketch artist and married Reverend Townsend Elijah Taylor. Their second daughter Lucy Goodale Thurston (1823–1841) came to New England to obtain a higher education but died from pneumonia soon after their arrival to New York. Their third child, Asa Goodale Tyerman Thurston (1827–1859) married Sarah Andrews. Their fourth child, Mary Howe Thurston (1831–1876), married Edwin A. Hayden and Marcus Benfield.
In 1949, Claiborne won the Jacques Heim National Design Contest (sponsored by Harper's Bazaar),The Encyclopedia of New York City: Second Edition. Kenneth T. Jackson, Lisa Keller, Nancy Flood. Yale University Press, December 1, 2010 and then moved to Manhattan where she worked for years in the Garment District on Seventh Avenue, as a sketch artist at the sportswear house, Tina Leser. She also worked for the former Hollywood costume designer turned fashion designer, Omar Kiam.
In addition to her natural ability to paint, the other knowledge she gained was by looking at etchings and busts that a neighboring artist Gabriel Briard lent her and her cousin Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun. Briard was known mostly for his landscape and portrait painting. Accounts by Vigèe Le Brun depict Briard as a mediocre painter but as a very talented sketch artist. Filleul's natural talent and art lessons from Briard helped her excel in her craft.

Jeff Fahey starred in Impulse (1990), Sketch Artist (1992), Woman of Desire (1994), and Temptation (1994), among many other films in the action and thriller genres. John O’Hurley, famous for his role as Elaine's boss “J. Peterman” on the TV show Seinfeld, was in both Night Eyes 2 (1991) and Mirror Images (1992).

For over three decades, Renié was noted for clothing the stars in subtle, elegant outfits, as can be seen in the eponymous costumes Ginger Rogers wore as the glamorous all- American working girl in Kitty Foyle (1940). She got her start designing theatre sets and then working as a sketch artist for Paramount Pictures. In 1937, she became a costume designer for RKO Pictures.
Malgudi Days is an Indian television series that started in 1986, and was filmed in both English (first 13 episodes) and Hindi (all 54 episodes), based on the 1943 short story collection of the same name by R. K. Narayan. The series was directed by Kannada actor and director Shankar Nag. Carnatic musician L. Vaidyanathan composed the score, while R.K. Narayan's younger brother and acclaimed cartoonist R. K. Laxman was the sketch artist. The series was made by film producer T.S. Narasimhan.
He has worked with Hollywood stars Christian Bale, Will Smith, John Travolta, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, Russell Crowe, Cameron Diaz and others, and maintains a long-term friendship with Joaquin Phoenix and Dustin Hoffman. He later made his debut as a director in the film Showtime’s Sketch Artist in 1992 and two years later he directed Dark Side of Genius. In 2000, he was awarded the Prix Vision of the Avignon Film Festival for his cinematography in 27 Missing Kisses.
In 1914, he traveled to London, but his studio failed and he returned to Paris, becoming a sketch artist during the war, drawing under the pseudonym Lemoine. Glackens later became a sketch artist for the New York Herald. In 1942–43, while still a student, he performed as a voice actor in a number of radio network programs. When the family moved to Los Angeles, he found employment at the RKO studio as a draftsman and sketch artist. He left RKO to enrol at Los Angeles City College but left when he was drafted into military service in the air force. Wolf was assigned to Washington DC, where he wrote for and was assistant producer of the Air Force Band's weekly national radio program.
Frank Lomax was a private detective and sketch artist hired by Ethan Crane to find the woman who was stalking him. While investigating, Frank began dating Whitney Russell, who was incidentally the best friend of Theresa Lopez- Fitzgerald, Ethan's stalker. Frank and Whitney's relationship eventually fell apart when Whitney was forced to lie to him to protect Theresa. Eventually Ethan discovered Theresa was his stalker and, feeling badly for her, chose to give Frank another job outside of Harmony to keep him from contacting the police.
Browne attended Cooper Union and got his start at the New York Journal-American as a copy boy and later worked in the art department. He also worked as a courtroom sketch artist for the paper, covering the Lucky Luciano trial. He joined the army, producing work for the engineering unit and created Jinny Jeep, a comic strip about the Women's Army Corps. During World War II, he was assigned to draw maps and charts for an Army engineering unit, eventually rising to staff sergeant.
Born Dorothy Schweppe in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the illegitimate daughter of Courtney Bradstreet Schweppe (1885-1958), a reported member of the Schweppes beverage family, and Eltsy Adair (1909-2005). The couple did not stay together, and Eltsy moved to California while Dorothy was still an infant, and raised her on her own. While in her twenties she began to call herself Theodora, and became a department store fashion illustrator. For a short time she worked as a sketch artist for Dorothy Jeakins, an Oscar-winning costume designer.
L.A. Chinatown painted by Tyrus Wong and restored by Fu Ding Cheng (1984) Wong's career ranged from working as a Hallmark greeting card designer, to being a Warner Bros. film production illustrator (1942–1968), including drawing set designs and storyboards for several movies, and an inspirational sketch artist (1938–1941) for Disney. It was his lush pastels that served as inspiration for Bambi (1942), where he was the lead artist of the project. His background paintings for Bambi were inspired by Song dynasty classical Chinese paintings.

Schatz died in Jerusalem in 1999.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of Southern California, he attended the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design in New York City.FilmReference.com Giant (1956). The Victorian home Leven designed became an iconic image for the film. Leven began his film career as a sketch artist at Paramount Pictures in 1933 and joined 20th Century Fox three years later. His first screen credit was as the art director for Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938), for which he received the first of nine Oscar nominations.
For example, after he dissected a black male, Malpighi made some groundbreaking headway into the discovery of the origin of black skin. He found that the black pigment was associated with a layer of mucus just beneath the skin. A talented sketch artist, Malpighi seems to have been the first author to have made detailed drawings of individual organs of flowers. In his Anatome plantarum is a longitudinal section of a flower of Nigella (his Melanthi, literally honey-flower) with details of the nectariferous organs.

Writing for Bloomberg, Virginia Postrel noted that the "experiment" was not scientifically valid - the participants were not randomly selected, the sketch artist deviated from normal procedure (he didn't show the women the sketches and ask them to confirm they were accurate at the time of the drawings), and the video editors chose only seven out of about 20 women used. She quoted forensic sketch artist Stephen Mancusi, who said, "it’s a tainted image, there’s no question about it.” In the blogosphere, the video drew harsher criticism prompting Adweek to write an article entitled "5 Reasons Why Some Critics Are Hating on Dove's Real Beauty Sketches Video".
Joseph McMillan Johnson (September 15, 1912 – April 17, 1990) was a leading Hollywood art director born in Los Angeles. He was graduated from USC with a degree in architecture before attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He was working for well-known architect Kem Weber when he was hired by David O. Selznick in 1938. He worked as a sketch artist for designs on Gone with the Wind in 1939, and was heavily involved with the creation of the special effects for The Wizard of Oz that same year.
The series concerns the adventures of three London teenagers: Kate (Pamela Franklin), Johnny Martin (Teddy Green) and Mark Dennison (David Griffin), who use their unique talents to solve crimes in their neighbourhood. Kate, the youngest of the three, possessed a photographic memory and was a talented artist; as well as a sketch artist, she most often trailed suspects. Developing an interest in animation while still at high school, Yuyama worked as an animator's assistant on episodes of Star Blazers and Brave Raideen. He was a sketch artist and storyboard artist on the foreign co-production Barbapapa (1973) and joined Aoi Productions in 1978. The same year, he had his directorial debut while working for Aoi on Galaxy Express 999, and soon struck up a successful working partnership with the screenwriter Takeshi Shudo on GoShogun. In 1982, he promoted to "chief director", an overseeing role on Magical Princess Minky Momo.
Self-portrait Aleksander Lesser (13 May 1814 – 13 March 1884) was a Polish painter, illustrator, sketch artist, art critic, and amateur researcher of antiquities who was of Jewish descent. Lesser holds a place in Polish art history "as an outstanding representative of his country’s historical school." He specialized in Polish historical and contemporary themes, and he was known and respected in artistic and scholarly circles. He was a member of Kraków's Academy of Learning and co-founder of Warsaw's Zachęta, the Society for Encouragement of the Fine Arts.
He was a fluent speaker of Arabic and spent much time hunting with Ibn Sa'ud during his wartime assignment to the Nejd and Asir. During that time, he became a foremost authority on the region and wrote a number of books on the subject in later life. An enthusiastic and skilled photographer, de Gaury is responsible for a large proportion of the photographs of the Arabian Peninsula from this period. He was also an accomplished watercolorist and sketch artist, frequently drawing or painting scenes from memory only hours after they had occurred.
After studying at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, Head was hired as a costume sketch artist at Paramount Pictures in 1923. She won acclaim for her design of Dorothy Lamour’s trademark sarong in the 1936 film The Jungle Princess, and became a household name after the Academy Award for Best Costume Design was created in 1948. The original Coppertone logo was the profile of an Indian chief, and the slogan was "Don't Be A Paleface." American Indians took offense, so the Taly Embry agency was hired to come up with a new ad campaign and logo. Supposedly, the inspiration for the Coppertone girl was Deborah Martin, who was the granddaughter of early Coppertone owner Charles E. Clowe.

George Balcan, (June 29, 1932 - May 4, 2004), born George Adelard Alfred Balcaen, was a Canadian radio broadcaster and artist. Balcan was one of the most recognizable voices on the airwaves of Montreal for 30 years. Born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba in 1931, Balcan first worked as a sketch artist in the engineering department of the Canadian Pacific Railway in his native province. Balcan began his broadcast career in 1951, when he was the first announcer to sign on with CKDM, a radio station in his hometown of Dauphin, Manitoba.

His first jobs were brochures for the National Crayon Company and illustrations for the Boston Herald. His career took off when the New York World sent him to Cuba, where, in the days before news photography became commonplace, he became a sketch artist for important events. He rose to become the art editor for The World.

Come Up Full was inspired by Maine lobster fishermen and was Hutchinson's first collaboration with Connecticut sketch artist and painter Mary Devaney. Come Up Full was Hutchinson's first release on Folk label Red House Records. A record about encountering good things when you least expect them, Hutchinson's introduction to the Folk community was well-received within the genre. The album includes the songs "Ready", "Home" and "Come Up Full" In "America (Enough)", Hutchinson explores American culture, excess and war by writing about how things taken to an extreme almost become their opposite.
J.E. Ward was a sketch artist on the staff of the Sydney Morning Herald who travelled extensively in Papua, shooting thousands of feet of footage. On the suggestions of Dan Carroll he decided to add some dramatic narrative to his footage, and in mid-1918 shot some scenes with actors Nellie Romer and Garry Gordon on Yule Island. Catholic missionaries complained about the filming and territory administrators impounded the footage on the grounds the film might hurt relations with the native population. Ward appealed and the footage was released.
Dove Real Beauty Sketches is a short film produced in 2013 as part of the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty marketing campaign. The aim of the film is to show women that they are more beautiful than they think they are by comparing self- descriptions to those of strangers. In the video, which was produced by the Ogilvy & Mather ad agency, several women describe themselves to a forensic sketch artist who cannot see his subjects. The same women are then described by strangers whom they met the previous day.

While she was recovering from her injuries in hospital, Useinova was visited by the now-retired police sketch artist Atanas Marincheshki, to whom she described the offenders.
Tamotzu moved to the U.S. in 1920 where befriended several other artists, such as Philip Evergood, Yasuo Kuniyoshi and John Sloan. Tamotzu served on the board of the Society of Independent Artists when Sloan became the society's president. During the Great Depression, Tamotzu worked for the Public Works of Art Project in New York, but was denied participation in the Works Progress Administration because he was not an American citizen. Tamotzu served in the American military during World War II as a combat sketch artist, and eventually became an American citizen.
Juan Carlos Castagnino (November 18, 1908April 21, 1972) was an Argentine painter, architect, muralist and sketch artist. Born in the rural village of Camet, near the city of Mar del Plata, he studied in the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, and became a disciple of Lino Enea Spilimbergo and Ramón Gómez Cornet. By the end of the 1920s, he became a member of the Communist Party of Argentina. In 1933 he joined the first Argentine artists' guild, and later that year he exhibited at the National Fine Arts Hall in Buenos Aires.
He went to New York City in 1880 and worked as a sketch artist, when sheer chance turned him into an actor. He was living in a boarding house on 7th Avenue, where a number of theatrical people also lived, among them Henry Miller, who eventually became his manager. Osmond Tearle, an actor living there, heard from his own producer that an Englishman was needed for a production of The School for Scandal. Tearle recruited Frederick, who got the part in January 1882 (which is also likely the moment he took the stage surname of "Kerr").
A sketch artist made a drawing based on her description: white, late teens or early 20s, acne on his face, scars on his left cheek, shabbily dressed. That sketch, though, appears not to have been widely disseminated. The description from the sisters' friend contrasted sharply with the only description of a possible suspect that was made public in 1975, that of the well-groomed, conservatively dressed person eventually labeled "tape recorder man." FAISAL SHAHZAD, THE "TIMES SQUARE BOMBER" SENTENCING, MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT: OCTOBER 5, 2010 Williams’ career began in Hollywood, California, where she was a fashion illustrator for designers such as Michael Travis and in the atelier of Bob Mackie. Following the suggestion of a teacher she decided to pursue the possible career as a court artist. While working as a fashion illustrator she went to an art show in San Diego, California, where she saw the courtroom art of well-known sketch artist Bill Robles. After a meeting with Robles, she began to work as a courtroom artist.
He also wrote the film Dance with Death (1992) for Corman, which was based on a story by Poison Ivy creators Andy Ruben and his then-wife Katt Shea, and included an early performance by Lisa Kudrow. Around the same time, Haney landed a role in Sketch Artist (1992), which starred Drew Barrymore, Sean Young, and Jeff Fahey. In 1994, he wrote the story for the film Stranger by Night. After Haney left Concorde, he was approached by British director-producer Harry Bromley Davenport to write the third installment of his Xtro franchise, Xtro 3: Watch the Skies (1995).

"Kayne" earned a full scholarship to Volunteer State Community College, where he studied pre-veterinarian medicine. While working at a veterinary clinic for four and a half years, he took a second job as a sketch artist at a local pageant and eveningwear boutique in Nashville, Tennessee. Two of his five sisters competed in scholarship pageants to help put themselves through college and "Kayne" helped them with their preparation for the pageants, especially when it came to wardrobe. Again as herself, she appeared in the film Lucy Gallant (1955) as the emcee of a fashion show. She also appeared in The Pleasure of His Company (1961) as she showed dresses for Debbie Reynolds' wedding in the film, and in The Oscar (1966) in three short, non-speaking scenes opposite Elke Sommer's character, a sketch artist turned costume designer like Head herself.

While in Brisbane he aspired to political cartooning, worked as a quick sketch artist outside a nightclub and held his first exhibition at a Brisbane pub Jamieson and his wife Maureen moved from Monto to Melbourne and his career flourished. It was general practice for couture houses to use professional artists to execute drawings of designs as they were being created, as well as of the artist's own ideas for each season's output and for individual clients. These drawings were overseen by Lucy Duff-Gordon, who often critiqued them, adding notes, instructions, dates, and sometimes her own signature or initials, indicating she approved the design. Like many couturiers, Lucy Duff-Gordon designed principally on the human form. Her surviving personal sketchbooks indicate her limited technical ability as a sketch artist, but a skill at recording colour.
Alexander's son chased Lee through the back of the house and was able to get a description of the car. Alexander had details as to what Lee looked like and on May 22, 2003, Alexander was able to describe Lee to a police sketch artist. Between the DNA evidence gathered off of the deceased victims, a psychological profile made by Mary Ellen O'Toole and the police sketch based on Alexander's description, the police went public with the information. Police in the nearby town of Zachary recognized the man by a recent peeping tom incident they had just investigated.
William Arthur Foley Jr. (August 8, 1926 – April 18, 2020) was an American painter, sketch artist, muralist, and author whose work focused on his personal experience during World War II. At the age of eighteen, Foley fought on the front lines of the Battle of The Bulge in the 94th Infantry Division as a rifleman. As he fought he began sketching his experiences daily. These sketches later transformed into paintings after the war and would later form the basis for his career and reputation as an artist and author. He died in April 2020 at the age of 93.
Eugene "Gene" Allen (June 17, 1918 - October 7, 2015) was an American art director.The Art Directors Guild profile Accessed 7 January 2009 He followed his father and became a Los Angeles Police officer after he was laid off from his first job as a sketch artist. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Allen went to art school to pursue his career. He won an Oscar in 1965 for Best Art Direction for My Fair Lady, and was nominated for A Star Is Born in 1955 and for Les Girls in 1958.
Among the artists he met in this period of his life, and who influenced him, were Laureà Barrau, Santiago Rusiñol, Eugène Carrière, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, and Ignacio Zuloaga. Casas and Rusiñol traveled through Catalonia in 1889, and collaborated on a short book Por Cataluña (desde mi carro), with text by Rusiñol and illustrations by Casas. Returning together to Paris, they lived together at the Moulin de la Galette in Montmartre, along with painter and art critic Miquel Utrillo and the sketch artist Ramón Canudas. Rusiñol chronicled these times in as series of articles "Desde el Molino" ("From the Mill") for La Vanguardia; again Casas illustrated.
After training as a teacher at The Winnipeg Normal School, she taught in rural schools in Marchand and Cardinal and was then appointed to the Institut Collégial Provencher in Saint Boniface. With her savings she was able to spend some time in Europe, but was forced to return to Canada in 1939 at the outbreak of World War II. She returned with some of her works near completion, but settled in Quebec to earn a living as a sketch artist while continuing to write. Saint-Henri, the working-class neighbourhood of Montreal. Her first novel, Bonheur d'occasion (1945),Bonheur d'occasion, Boréal Compact, Éditions du Boréal, 1993.
Other members of Tracy's Rogues Gallery, like Boris Arson, Flattop Jones, and Maw Famon, were inspired, respectively, by John Dillinger, Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd, and Kate "Ma" Barker. More to the point, Gould was making a genuine attempt to portray police work realistically. Once Tracy was sold to the Chicago Tribune syndicate, Gould enrolled in a criminology class at Northwestern University, met with members of the Chicago Police Department, and did research at the Department's crime lab, to make his depiction of law enforcement more authentic. Ultimately, he hired retired Chicago policeman Al Valanis, a pioneering forensic sketch artist, as both an artistic assistant and police technical advisor.
Friedrich Wilhelm Heine spent the first forty years of his life in Germany. At the age of fourteen he was a copper and steel engraver's apprentice and later attended the Leipzig and Weimar Academies in Germany, working as a book illustrator and designer from 1861 to 1866. He was a war correspondent and sketch artist with the Prussian Army in Austria and a field artist in the Franco-Prussian War of 1871. Because of his reputation as a war artist in Germany, Heine was invited to come to Milwaukee in 1885 to supervise the compositions of the paintings of the American Panorama Company at 628 Wells Street.
In 1957, Hilla Wobeser met Bernhard Becher, known as Bernd at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where the two studied. They began a collaboration photographing the Siegerland region where Bernd was raised, and two years later, the couple got married in 1961. The Bechers traveled in a Volkswagen photographing industrial sites all over Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, then eventually, Britain and the US. In an interview with Süddeutche Zeitung Magazin, Hilla Becher claimed that her husband disliked photography at the beginning of the career. Originally a sketch artist, Bernd believed that photography was more a "means to an end" to further detail in his sketches rather than its own artistic medium.

In 1961, while he was working at Paramount Studios, costumer Edith Head found Mackie.Bob Mackie designs for Cher and Farrah Fawcett on The Sonny & Cher Show (1976) In Mackie's early career he worked as a sketch artist for French haute couturier Jean Louis, who is noted for crafting stage gowns worn by screen Marlene Dietrich during her career as a cabaret singer. In 1966, Mackie was hired by Mitzi Gaynor to design her new stage show at the Riviera in Las Vegas.
With no prospect of returning to his stage career, Beddoes tried unsuccessfully for any job that would take him back to Egypt so that he could continue his studying. Finally, through his brother-in-law John Cox who, from the Army Film Unit had taken over the sound department of Shepperton Studios, he gained a series of introductions to Art Directors. In Spring 1946 he met Alfred Junge, who, after seeing the work that he had produced in Egypt, took him on to learn to be a sketch artist. He started working on Black Narcissus immediately, learning on the job, which also included painting the Indian murals and designing the titles.
He became an aviator in the early days of flight, and was one of the founders of the Civil Air Patrol. During World War II he trained cadets to fly B-29 bombers, and continued to fly airplanes into his eighties. He was also a notable marksman, swimmer, sketch artist, and gourmet cook.
