Any spin value can be used for the pair, but the entanglement effect will be strongest both mathematically and experimentally if the spin magnitude is as small as possible, with the maximum possible effect occurring for entities with spin (such as electrons and positrons). Early thought experiments for unbound singlets usually assumed the use of two antiparallel spin electrons. However, actual experiments have tended to focus instead on using pairs of spin 1 photons. While the entanglement effect is somewhat less pronounced with such spin 1 particles, photons are easier to generate in correlated pairs and (usually) easier to keep in an unperturbed quantum state.

During the 1930s Miller continued to create newspaper comic strips, such as Curiosities, in Melbourne's The Herald and Nature Notes and Weird and Wonderful in Sydney's The Daily Telegraph. In 1938 he collaborated with Ted Maloney of the J. Walter Thompson agency to create Chesty Bond, designed with the idea of promoting the Bonds clothing company's singlets. Miller handled the advertising strip until he joined the Herald and Weekly Times in 1945 and the strip passed to another artist, Francis 'Will' Mahony. From 1942 to 1945 Miller published numerous comic books, with his single column spot, Animalaughs, which started in 1948 appearing throughout Australia, as well as being syndicated in England, Scotland and South Africa.

Tie-dying, particularly after the introduction of affordable Rit dyes, became popular as a cheap and accessible way to customize inexpensive T-shirts, singlets, dresses, jeans, army surplus clothing, and other garments into psychedelic creations. Some of the leading names in tie-dye at this time were Water Baby Dye Works (run by Ann Thomas and Maureen Mubeem), Bert Bliss, and Up Tied, the latter winning a Coty Award for "major creativity in fabrics" in 1970. Up Tied created tie-dyed velvets and silk chiffons which were used for exclusive one-of-a-kind garments by Halston, Donald Brooks, and Gayle Kirkpatrick, whilst another tie-dyer, Smooth Tooth Inc. dyed garments for Dior and Jonathan Logan.

People with wrist piercings are advised to put on short sleeved t-shirts, singlets so as to prevent the surface barbell from catching onto the threads of the clothing. Also, wrist piercings can only be done with a special tool (to hook the other side of the surface barbell upside) and thus, it is of high difficulty for it to be home-made. Piercers would also advise that, after getting a wrist piercing, the person is to soak and moisten the wound with mild salted solution so as to disinfect the area, preventing bacteria from entering the unclotted wound. The span of a wrist piercing ranges approximately from as short as 2 weeks to 6 or 7 months.

In the Western world, men are usually buried in business attire, such as a suit or coat and tie, and women in semi-formal dresses or pant suits. In recent years, a change has occurred, and many individuals are now buried in less formal clothing, such as what they would have worn on a daily basis, or other favorite attire. The clothing used can also reflect the deceased person's profession or vocation: priests and ministers are often dressed in their liturgical vestments, and military and law enforcement personnel often wear their uniform. Underwear, singlets, bras, briefs, and hosiery are all used if the family so desires, and the deceased is dressed in them as they would be in life.

Eukaryotic motile cilium Inside cilia and flagella is a microtubule-based cytoskeleton called the axoneme. The axoneme of a primary cilium typically has a ring of nine outer microtubule doublets (called a 9+0 axoneme), and the axoneme of a motile cilium has, in addition to the nine outer doublets, two central microtubule singlets (called a 9+2 axoneme). The axoneme acts as a scaffold for axonemal inner and outer dynein arms that move motile cilia, and provides tracks for molecular motor proteins, such as Kinesin II, that carry proteins along the length of the cilium through a process called intraflagellar transport (IFT). IFT is bi-directional and retrograde IFT employ the cytoskeletal dynein motor 2 to move back toward the cell body.

The coupling constant, indicating a small frequency difference between split signal peaks, would be smaller than in an undecoupled spectrum. Looking at a compound's off-resonance proton-decoupled 13C spectrum can show how many hydrogens are bonded to the carbon atoms to further help elucidate the chemical structure. For most organic compounds, carbons bonded to 3 hydrogens (methyls) would appear as quartets (4-peak signals), carbons bonded to 2 equivalent hydrogens would appear as triplets (3-peak signals), carbons bonded to 1 hydrogen would be doublets (2-peak signals), and carbons not bonded directly to any hydrogens would be singlets (1-peak signals).

Seenithurai & Chai 2020 found that larger cyclo[n]carbons [up to 100 carbon atoms] exhibit polyradical character and report linear carbon chains (l-CC[n]) as well as cyclic carbon chain or cyclo[n] carbon (c-CC[n]), where n=10-100. For all the cases investigated, l-CC[n] and c-CC[n] are ground-state singlets, and c-CC[n] are energetically more stable than l-CC[n]. The electronic properties of l-CC[n] and c-CC[n] display peculiar oscillation patterns for smaller values of n, followed by monotonic changes for larger values of n. For the smaller carbon chains, odd-numbered l-CC[n] are more stable than the adjacent even- numbered ones, and c-CC[4m+2]/c-CC[4m] (where m are positive integers) are more/less stable than the adjacent odd-numbered ones.

An interesting typical situation of hidden PJTE emerges in molecular and solid state systems with valence half-filed closed shells electronic configurations e2 and t3. For instance, in the e2 case the ground state in the high-symmetry equilibrium geometry is an orbital non-degenerate triplet 3A, while the nearby low-lying two excited electronic states are close-in-energy singlets 1E and 1A; due to the strong PJT interaction between the latter, the lower component of 1E crosses the triplet state to produce a global minimum with lower symmetry. Fig. 3 illustrates the hidden PJTE in the CuF3 molecule, showing also the singlet-triplet spin crossover and the resulting two coexisting configurations of the molecule: high-symmetry (undistorted) spin- triplet state with a nonzero magnetic moment, and a lower in energy dipolar- distorted singlet state with zero magnetic moment.

Some features regularly associated with the bogan stereotype include residing in the outer working class suburbs of larger cities, having teeth that have not had dental care due to cost, having an anti-authoritarian or jingoistic stance, as well as being interested in classic rock music, hoon-driving and excessive alcohol consumption. Certain types of clothing are stereotypically associated with bogans, including flannelette shirts, blue singlets, Stubbie shorts, Fluro workwear, Ugg boots, jeans and black leggings. Vehicles, such as earlier Holdens from FJ to HQ, Toranas, some Commodores, (more so sports variants, especially Peter Brock Commodores), SS models, HSV, and Ford Falcon right up to AU models, particularly modified or poorly-maintained examples, also have similar associations. A person described as a bogan may refuse to conform to middle-class standards of taste, dietary habits, leisure activities, styles of dress and ways of speaking, and might be looked down upon by some groups due to preconceived perceptions and biases which can often exacerbate the hardships faced by disadvantaged people.
