There are many side roads that branch off the main canyon, but most are not through streets, reinforcing the self-contained nature of the neighborhood. Some of the main side streets are Mount Olympus, Kirkwood, Wonderland Avenue, Willow Glen, and Lookout Mountain Avenue.
The first part, which was completed within three years, was from Walton, Liverpool, to the junction with the A6 at Irlams o' th' Height in Salford. The road was constructed in an almost straight alignment with few curves. To be a high-speed trunk route, its 1930s planners designed some parts to be three roads in one. The central section was exclusively for through traffic while adjacent side roads – either side of the main carriageway – provided local access.
"Penryn" was a home for children, mainly from London, in the post-war period until the 1980s when it was replaced by private housing, now called Penryn Drive. Unpaved road, 2007 Most side-roads in Headley Down remained unpaved until the 1960s when there was a considerable increase in permanent housing in addition to replacing or upgrading the numerous temporary holiday homes. Some roads remained unpaved well into the 2000s. Heatherlands estate houses approximately one fifth of the Headley parish population.
In some places, experienced downhill and single-track enthusiasts can pass the entire track by carrying the bike on the back. However, it is also possible to try the bicycle route, which is partly on the Lycian Way and on parallel side roads, by using alternative forest and village roads. Clow wrote a guidebook in which the characteristics of the trail, such as the width of the path, the kinds of waymarks, and the distance and hiking time of the stages, are described.
The Tour of Britain riders on the B5300 coast road at Dubmill, near Salta. In September 2015, stage three of the Tour of Britain ran along the entire length of the B5300 as part of its route from Cockermouth to Floors Castle. The road was closed in stages as police officers on motorcycles rode ahead of the peloton, closing off side roads and stopping traffic. Silloth-on-Solway in particular made a big fuss about welcoming the riders from the Tour.

The Nation and its Environs Nowadays, Cobbs Lake is a large shallow lake which forms around the creek during the spring thaw. Fields are found around the lake, and these fields are flooded during the early spring expanding the lake even more. This causes problems for local residents since it also floods nearby side roads. Thousands of migrating snow geese, Canada geese, and many dabbling ducks, such as northern shovelers and pintails, stop over in this location during the spring.
Dallas Boulevard only links directly to the Beachline (Exit 24), where only eastbound traffic can exit onto Dallas and traffic on Dallas can only enter the Beachline westbound. Traffic seeking to get onto the Beachline eastbound, SR 520 or SR 50 must take a series of side roads onto SR 520. Most of the land in Wedgefield is divided into lots of or larger, but the majority of houses in the subdivision are situated on lots of one acre or less.
Priority to the right is a right-of-way system, in which the driver of a vehicle is required to give way to vehicles approaching from the right at intersections. The system is stipulated in Article 18.4.a of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic for countries where traffic keeps to the right and applies to all situations where it is not overridden by priority signs (including uncontrolled intersections), including side roads and roundabouts (but not paths or earth-tracks).
The central commercial area of Mawson Lakes, situated between Main Street and Garden Terrace, and north of the Promenade is the central shopping precinct with a Hotel, Woolworths, ALDI, and a number of smaller shops and restaurants. Main Street and its side roads are also home to Bank branches, various professional services, and a number of offices. In recent years, many offices have been converted into apartments due to the proximity of the university and a glut of office space.
In response to the Italian invasion, Ethiopia declared war on Italy. At this point in the campaign, the lack of roads represented a serious hindrance for the Italians as they crossed into Ethiopia. On the Eritrean side, roads had been constructed right up to the border. On the Ethiopian side, these roads often transitioned into vaguely defined paths, and the Italian army used aerial photographyRecovery of the aerial photographs of Ethiopia in the 1930s to plan its advance, as well as mustard gas attacks.
It was closed in 1960 and today is used for a weekly market and car boot sale. Half-a-mile past the airfield and the B5302 bends sharply to the left in the small hamlet of Causewayhead, in the civil parish of Holme Low. Two side-roads in quick succession lead south-west to a junction with the B5301 and south-east in the direction of Blackdyke. Also in Causewayhead is Tanglewood Caravan Park, which the B5302 passes on its way through the settlement.
Deanna Sorensen is a Canadian veterinary nurse and motivational speaker. After leaving Perth and crossing the Nullarbor, she travelled south from Port Augusta to Adelaide, along the coast through Mount Gambier to Melbourne, then up the Princes Highway through Eden to Sydney. The total distance of this route, taken from road maps and routemarkers, is 4895 km; with an additional 170 km of additional distance on side-roads and excursions making her total journey a little over 5000 km. She completed her journey in 180 days.
Weather is extremely variable in the mountains, so conditions and closures often change rapidly. The speed limit is never higher than and lower in some sections. The parkway uses short side roads to connect to other highways, and there are no direct interchanges with Interstate Highways, making it possible to enjoy wildlife and other scenery without stopping for cross-traffic. Mileposts along the parkway start at zero at the northeast end in Virginia and count to 469 at the southern end in North Carolina.
The park is accessible by car at three points from three side roads of National Road 885; the one terminates at the national park border near Svartbrysttjern, the other at Ødevatnskoia close to Ødevatnet, and the third runs through the landscape protection area and terminates at Grensefoss, ca. from the tripoint cairn. The park reflects the fact that it is located in the border area with Russia. It involves some traffic of military personnel in the area and information about precautions one must observe in that regard.
In order to reconnect the western section of Horse Block Road back to Portion Road, two side roads were built: a north-south frontage called Leeds Boulevard and an east-west street called Horse Block Place between Leeds Boulevard and College Road. A cloverleaf interchange with Portion Road was built in 1971, and the south-to-west ramp connected to both directions on Leeds Boulevard. In the fall of 2008, the left turning lanes at Horse Block Place were eliminated to relieve traffic heading towards the college.
The main road is Autopista Sur, which begins before crossing the bridge over Laguna Paso Malo and ends at a cul de sac at Barceló Marina Palace. Traffic from Vía Blanca and Carretera a into the Barceló Marina Palace merges into Varadero on this road near Kawama Airport. The paved highway has two lanes in both directions for most of the route, but a portion is closed off reducing it to only a single lane in each direction. Side roads cross this road as regular intersections with only a partial cloverleaf at Laguna Paso Malo.
The B5302's western terminus is in the coastal town of Silloth-on-Solway, at the junction with the B5300 coast road (which runs south to Mawbray, Allonby, and Maryport). As it winds through Silloth, first heading west, then north as Criffel Street, then east as Wigton Road, it is constructed from cobblestones, unchanged from the Victorian era. As Criffel Street, the B5302 passes by many of Silloth's shops and the town's green. Side-roads lead to Silloth docks, the seafront and lifeboat station, and the former site of Silloth railway station.
Since it is easier to enter California from the Imperial Valley than through San Diego, SR 86 sees a great deal of truck traffic to and from Mexico, earning it still another nickname, "The NAFTA Highway". The new highway has proven to be at least as dangerous as the old alignment owing to much the same problems of poorly marked and uncontrolled side roads. A rash of fatal crashes in early 2005 prompted the city of Coachella to push Caltrans for the installation of at least two more traffic signals on SR 86S.
There is no exact de-lineation of the St James area – the red outline on the modern map shown below gives the area generally regarded as St James. This differs from official designations of Borough Council Wards and County Council Divisions which often include additional areas used to even up the numbers of voters. The northern area comprises what are known as the 'Scottish streets' after their street names. On the west side, off Weedon Road, is the Lift Tower estate and several side roads up the hill to Sixfields.
Shortly after passing Mawbray, the B5300 takes a more southerly turn at Dubmill Point. This marks the start of Allonby Bay, an inlet of the Solway Firth. There are two side roads within a couple of hundred yards of each other in the vicinity of Dubmill, the first leads to Salta, and ultimately on to Mawbray via Hailforth, and the second leads to Edderside. Also along this section of the road, a large concrete sea wall is present to prevent erosion and damage to the road or nearby farms.
Just under one mile from the Edderside road is the village of Allonby. Among the side-roads in the village are Moss Lane, which leads to Spring Lea leisure centre, and Wigton Road, which eventually leads out of Allonby to the village of Westnewton. The road also crosses over Allonby beck, before passing the village green and Twentyman's shop and ice cream parlour, which is popular both with locals and tourists, especially during the summer months. The Crosscanonby junction before the car park was destroyed in a storm in 2014.
Farmers Loop Road and Badger Road, loop roads north and east (respectively) of Fairbanks, were also home to major farming activity. Badger Road is named for Harry Markley Badger, an early resident of Fairbanks who later established a farm along the road and became known as "the Strawberry King".Atwood and DeArmoun, Who's Who in Alaskan Politics, p. 4 Ballaine and McGrath Roads, side roads of Farmers Loop Road, were also named for prominent local farmers, whose farms were in the immediate vicinity of their respective namesake roads.
The Wingst may be reached via the B 73 federal highway, that grazes the area to the east, as well as its side roads, and also via the Green Coast Road (Grüne Küstenstraße), which passes the ridge to the northwest. The Wingst is crossed by the E9 European long-distance path and also by regional walking trails. The Neuhaus-Bülkau Canal runs in a north-south direction just beyond the western fringes of the Wingst. On the northeastern edge of the Wingst is the Zoo in the Wingst.
Holland, Nelson and Toronto Township (today Mississauga) are examples. In a common square grid layout known as a 1,000 Acre Sectional System, adjacent parallel roads were 100 chains or apart, and arranged as 10 100-acre lots each 20 chains by 50 chains so that two consecutive concession roads and two consecutive side roads enclosed a square of . Another system used 100-acre lots each 30 by 33.333 chains, again arranged in 1000-acre blocks. Concession roads were 5/6-mile apart, while sideroads were 1-7/8 mile apart.
During the following 43 days she accepted only water, refusing any food. This led to a deteriorating health condition, and ultimately to her death on August 17, 1929, few days before the amnesty decree was put into force. Worried about the echo her death would have on the local population, the Romanian authorities disposed that her body be transported to the cemetery under the guard of the Siguranţa (the Romanian secret police), only by side roads. Only her parents were allowed to attend her burial, but local communists succeeded in organising a small protest.
The Mayor of London commissioned a public consultation in 2004 to gauge public opinion about the project and make revisions to the plans. 440,000 consultation brochures were circulated and nearly 17,000 questionnaires completed. The results of the exercise, published in March 2005, showed that, while 54% of respondents felt there was need to reduce congestion improve public transport and on the Uxbridge Road, 59 per cent were opposed to the tramway scheme. Opponents expressed concerns about the cost of the project and an anticipated increase in traffic congestion, particularly on residential side roads.
Opponents mostly expressed the view that the tram line would increase traffic congestion as the roads were not wide enough to accommodate existing traffic and trams, and that traffic would be displaced into side roads, as well as concerns over the disruption caused by tramway construction. While a majority of residents thought that trams were environmentally friendly, a majority believed that trams take up too much space on the road. Most interviewees felt that reducing congestion on the Uxbridge Road was important, an improved bus service was favoured by many.
Eldikan serves as an important distribution center for the district's gold mining industry, and as an energy center. Agricultural products produced here include vegetables, pigs, horses, cows, potatoes, cabbage, and fish. Eldikan is connected via a more than long road with Yugoryonok on the Yudoma River, with side roads connecting with the various mining settlements in the area. Eldikan itself, however, remains only connected to the outside world by ship on the Aldan River during the ice-free period, or via an ice road along the frozen river in winter.
During World War II, the CCC crews were replaced by conscientious objectors in the Civilian Public Service program. The parkway's construction created jobs in the region, but also displaced many residents and created new rules and regulations for landowners, including requirements related to how farmers could transport crops. Residents could no longer build on their lands without permission, or develop land except for agricultural use. They were not permitted to use the parkway for any commercial travel but were required to transport equipment and materials on side roads.
Map of intersecting roads and other trails There are several well established side roads and other intersecting minor trails which branch off from the Kodaikanal–Munnar Road. Most of these show as "other trails" on the 1959 Army map. These intersections either go north to Upper Palani Hills villages or go south, dropping sharply down the south facing escarpment to hill villages en route and towns on the plains up to below. The Ciff Trail provides an alternate east-west route between Berijam Lake and the Kerala Forest Bungalow.
Pratt's Bottom is a village in Greater London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley and the historic county of Kent. It is south of its parent parish of Orpington, and beyond London's urban sprawl. It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names. It is a small village, consisting of a main road (Rushmore Hill) on which is situated a school, a village shop (the post office was closed as part of the widespread branch closures of June 2008) and the Bulls Head pub, two small churches and a few side roads.
East of Johnstown, NY 29 originally zig-zagged across its current route. Some of the old alignments remain as side roads or access routes, including Schoolhouse Road, Schabacker Road, and Circle Road in the town of Johnstown. The old route also followed current Fulton County Route 155 through Vail Mills, where it overlaps briefly with NY 30 and continues into the village of Broadalbin. In Broadalbin, original NY 29 entered as West Main Street, turning right onto Mill Street, then left on Saratoga Avenue, leaving the village and meeting the current routing.
After this, a long curve to the north-northeast begins, which ends just south of Kingston Lane and the center of Kingston. Beyond Kingston, the route crosses the Big Annemessex River and travels past a tree farm. After passing through a forest, two side roads lead to the Somerset County Health Department and the Somerset Intermediate School, with the pavement's striping reconfigured to accommodate left turns at the two close intersections. As the road nears Westover, it passes by the Great Hope Golf Course and shortly after intersects MD 361 (Fairmount Road).
From 1865, speculative builders began a larger scale expansion, including the opening up of side roads. The substantial houses that were built during the 19th and early 20th centuries included many examples by the city’s best-known architects including Joseph Goddard, Stockdale Harrison, Redfern & Sawday, James Tait and Isaac Barradale. In addition to the restrictions and safeguards afforded by the Conservation area as a whole, there are 13 buildings that are individually listed, which provides a higher degree of legal protection of the character and setting of the buildings concerned.
The densely built and parallel strip houses were oriented towards the main street, which came from the interior of the province. The main road was crossed in the vicus area by three smaller side roads leading north towards the Niraj stream. On one of these side streets, where it approached the brook, massive building structures could be found, which were identified as thermal baths. Based on the results of geophysical prospection, a total of three excavation sections were completed in 2013 in the areas of the principia, the vicus and the stream.
The street is one of the oldest road stretches in Nørrebro. It was part of the original Jagtvej which was created shortly after the construction of Ladegården in 1620 to provide royal hunting parties with easy access to Store Vibenshus from where they followed the Eoyal Frederiksborg Road north to Jægersborg Dyrehave or Frederiksborg Castle in North Zealand. The lower part of the road later became known as Jødevej (Jew Road) due to the location of the Jewish Cemetery. In 1831, it was one of only three side roads to Nørrebrogade.
Upgrading the of road to dual three-lane motorway standard between the Bramham/A64 junction to north of Wetherby to meet the section of motorway at a cost of £70 million began in 2006, including a road alongside for non-motorway traffic. The scheme's public inquiry began on 18 October 2006 and the project was designed by James Poyner. Work began in May 2007, the motorway section opened in July 2009 and remaining work on side roads was still ongoing in late August and was expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
View north of Westferry Circus From west to east, the road starts in Limehouse, then changes from Westferry Road to Manchester Road at Island Gardens. At Cubitt Town it crosses the entrance to the West India Docks via the Blue Bridge, a bascule bridge that allows ships to reach the docks. It then becomes Prestons Road, ending in Poplar. Several side roads and buildings along Westferry Road, such as Cuba Street and Spinnaker House, have names related to the historic connection the Isle of Dogs has with the shipping industry.
A stagecoach made frequent stops at roadside coaching inns for water, food, and horses. A passenger train stopped only at designated stations in the city centre, around which were built grand railway hotels. Motorcar traffic on old-style two-lane highways might have paused at any camp, cabin court, or motel along the way, while freeway traffic was restricted to access from designated off-ramps to side roads which quickly become crowded with hotel chain operators. The original functions of an inn are now usually split among separate establishments.
The road was built between 1746 and 1750 as part of the longer route between Frankfurt and Mainz. As one of the most heavily used roads in Frankfurt, factories soon sprang up along its length as Germany industrialised in the 19th century, including the headquarters of Adler and Tenovis. A tramway, the modern day lines 11 and 21, soon followed, supported by the industries along its length. By the outbreak of World War I, there were around 40 factories along the length of the road, with more along the many side roads that branch off it.

Leading north off Gresham Street are Noble Street, Staining Lane, Aldermanbury, Basinghall Street and Coleman Street. Wood Street, home to the City of London Police headquarters, crosses Gresham Street and leads both north and south.
From a roundabout at the East Derwent Highway in Bridgewater, the bypass heads north as a controlled-access route. north, near the southern edge of Brighton are separate northbound and then southbound interchanges with side roads, for access to the Brighton Transport Hub and nearby properties. After another , the route veers to the north-east, and there is a trumpet interchange connecting to the bypassed section of Midland Highway. Skirting around the developed area of Brighton, the bypass crosses the Jordan River, and curves back to the north to a diamond interchange with Tea Tree Road.
Kings Heath came into being as a village in the 18th century when improvements to the Alcester to Birmingham road acted as a catalyst for the development of new houses and farms. Prior to this, the area was largely uninhabited wasteland run by the Royal Borough of Kings Norton. The streets running off High Street are dominated by pre-1919 terraced, owner- occupied housing. A number of independent shops have taken advantage of comparatively cheap rents in the side roads off High Street, leading to an influx of boutiques and the start of an (organic) café culture.
Today, Lim Chu Kang is still largely rural and is located in close proximity with the Western Water Catchment. Lim Chu Kang is commonly served by two main roads known as Lim Chu Kang Road and Old Choa Chu Kang Road. As this area is still undeveloped, it has a lot of military training areas, agriculture, farms, have the only remaining cemeteries in Singapore (due to exhumations to others to make way for new developments) and a major columbarium. There are also side-roads, like Jalan Sungei Poyan, Lim Chu Kang Road Track 11/13 and Jalan Bahtera.
Other plans used during colonial surveying used different layouts and lot sizes of 100, 150, 160, 200 or 320 acres. All but four of the numbered A4540 junctions have signal- controlled pedestrian crossings of the ring road. Of the four, Dartmouth Circus, Ashted Circus and Five Ways have subways; Bordesley Circus has uncontrolled pedestrian crossings despite often heavy traffic. There are mostly lightly used pavements around the entire ring road, though several busy side roads joining the ring road have only uncontrolled crossings for pedestrians. Some parts of the pavement (and the three subways) are designated cycle paths, but much of the rest of the pavement is used by cyclists illegally to avoid the heavy traffic and frequent roundabouts on the ring road.
The historic district is essentially linear in character, extending along Main Street (Massachusetts Route 116) between Ashfield Great Pond in the west and Bishop Corner Road in the east, and then northward along Bishop Corner Road. It extends for short distances along some side roads, and along those two roads beyond their intersection to the east and south. It is in size, and is composed mainly of one and two-story wood frame residences. The central core of the village includes a number of commercial buildings, all also of wood-frame construction, as well as most of the town's civic buildings.
While the HAA troop left to take up an anti- shipping role on the river, the regiment was rejoined by 6 Bofors guns of E Trp, 326 LAA Bty for AA defence of the vital NIjmegen bridges. During the next few days of the battle the regiment was called on for fire missions in several different directions, supporting 82nd Airborne, 50th (Northumbrian) and 43rd (Wessex) Divisions as well as Guards Armoured. Its RASC platoon bringing up ammunition found the main road cut by the enemy and had to take to side roads to get through to the gun positions.
U.S. Route 22 Business is a 5-mile loop through the eastern Pittsburgh suburbs of Churchill, Wilkins Township, and Monroeville, Pennsylvania, on William Penn Highway. The route's western terminus is at a freeway junction with Interstate 376, which features a concurrency by the business loop's parent route. The route was the former pathway of U.S. Route 22 itself before the construction that extended Interstate 376 from this point eastward to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, in the early 1960s. The first two miles of the road are contained in a valley, surrounded by a variety of side roads leading to suburban, mostly residential development.
Holt Pound is a hamlet on the A325 road and two side roads and forms a slight projection of the county borders into Surrey in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is between Bordon several miles south and Farnham, which is beyond a strip of its nearest village, Rowledge, which remains its ecclesiastical parish in Surrey and Wrecclesham which touches the town. The village is between the Alice Holt Forest and fields known jointly as Old Kiln Farm and the Holt Pound Enclosure. It has a large 20th-century pub-restaurant and a recreation ground.
Binley Woods is a relatively modern village. Settlement began in the 1920s, when some of the estates of Coombe Abbey were sold off and people began to settle and build homes in the area, which was then known as Binley Common. In the early years, the village lacked modern amenities such as paved roads, street lighting, piped water or mains drainage; though these were gradually provided from the 1930s onwards, some of the side roads were not paved or lighted until the 1960s. During the 1940s, many homeless people from bombed-out Coventry fled to Binley, often living in shacks and caravans.
For tourism serve the Ilm track from the Rennsteig within the Thuringian Forest to the Saale valley at the Saxony-Anhalt border via Ilmenau and Weimar. In addition, there are cycle paths which connect to the Gera track (in Elgersburg) to Erfurt nearby and to the Saale valley in the east via Gehren, Königsee and Rudolstadt. Many ways through the forest are used by mountain bikers, as mountain biking is very popular in the region. There are only few cycle lanes for inner city every-day traffic but using side roads and paths is working well.
The rail line that the highway parallels between Toppenish and just west of Prosser has existed since at least 1910. It originally belonged to the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway, and it is now part of BNSF Railway as part of their Yakima Valley Subdivision. In Spring 2011, WSDOT began a $4.63 million construction project to build wider lanes and shoulders on SR 22 between I-82 and the city of Toppenish, because of a number of collisions along the roadway. Other improvements included installing new sidewalks with ADA-compliant curbs and access ramps, as well as adding turn lanes to side roads.
In recent years, New Minas has been lampooned by many of its citizens and tourists as having notoriously poor side-roads. However, in the last 2–3 years, the Village of New Minas has been working on coercing the Province of Nova Scotia to focus on repairing these roads. New Minas played host to the film crew of the popular television show Call Me Fitz. Where the filming took place used to be the old home of the local Kia Motors, but the local branch had moved to the other end of the town, so the showroom was converted into Fitzpatrick Motors.
The escape from Norway usually involved transport by train or side roads to areas near the border, and then clandestine passage on foot, skis and occasionally boat to the Swedish border. Swedish border officials (landsfiskaler) accepted the refugees and sent them to transit centers. After Öreryd in Småland proved inadequate, on June 15, 1942, Kjesäter was designated as the main assembly and transit point for refugees who had fled the Nazi German occupation of Norway by crossing the border into Sweden. These refugees included political activists, members of the resistance, and Jews fleeing deportation to extermination camps.
Mallet locomotive No 7 of the Taupo Totara Timber Company Railway at Ngutuwera, 1947 The river catchment and its tributaries are accessed via the Waitotara Valley Road and Ngutuwera Road, and associated side-roads. The village of Waitotara is the predominant settlement of the catchment, located at the junction of the Waitotara Valley Road and State Highway 3. The viability of the Waitotara settlement has recently been challenged by a number of devastating flood events, while the Waitotara School has undergone complete refurbishment. Along the Waitotara River lie the localities of Rangitatau, Puau, Orangimea, Tawhiwhi, Makakaho Junction, Ngamatapouri and Taumatatahi.
The civil parish stretches from the coast northwards to, and just beyond, the A351 road from Corfe Castle to Swanage. The village of Worth Matravers is situated on side roads towards the south of the parish, which also includes the village of Harman's Cross on the main road to the north. The cliffs of Worth Matravers were the site of a Chain Home radar station during World War II, which was instrumental in the development of radar when the Telecommunications Research Establishment outstation shared the site from 1940 until 1942 when it was relocated to Malvern, Worcestershire.

The proposal of Jean-Baptiste Vifquain was ultimately chosen. It involved construction of squares and boulevards, with spaces to walk and two to four rows of trees lining the route, a main road and parallel side roads. A barrier with a ditch running its length was still installed, however, and customs houses built at the entrances, to allow continued taxation of commercial goods entering the city.
Much of Pershore Road from Cotteridge to Pebble Mill is lined with artisans houses built from the 1870s. Many of the side roads have similar houses and there are also unique terraces, Derwent Cottages, and Rose Cottages that lie behind the Pershore Road. The main builders were Grant’s Estates and they often gave the terraces names and the date of construction. Grant’s Estates was founded by brothers Thomas James Grant and Henry Michael Grant in the 1890s. Groups of terraced housing in Cotteridge and King’s Heath, stable blocks, and other jobbing work in 1897 can be traced to the company.

His Neo-Georgian offices for the Citizen's Permanent Building Society on Marlborough Place were finished in 1932, by which time construction of the Richmond Hotel and bar had started. This building, on Richmond Parade opposite Marlborough Place, was also Neo-Georgian in style and was finished in 1934. On side roads off North Street in the town centre, Denman designed Neo-Georgian offices for the Brighton & Hove Herald newspaper in 1934 and Regent House—in a similar style but with angular Modernist elements—in the same year, immediately behind the Chapel Royal. In 1935, he designed a "blocky", prominent brick building to house the Sussex Eye Hospital.
The low ridge is situated in the northern foothills of the Harz mountain range, stretching southeast of the Innerste Uplands from the Salzgitter Hills to the Oker river. It is located about —as the crow flies—northeast of Goslar and immediately north-northwest of the municipality of Vienenburg, surrounded by the villages of Weddingen, Lengde and Beuchte (all part of the Schladen-Werla municipality). The range is about long by wide and its eastern edge overlooks the Oker valley. It may be reached via the A 395 motorway from Brunswick, the B 241 and B 82 highways, as well as by several side roads and tracks branching off those roads.
The Arkell Springs also provide some of the municipal water for the city of Guelph. Arkell is a common stopping point for cyclists and hikers to take a break when touring the country-side roads the surrounding city of Guelph, or the hiking trails at the Starkey Hill loop just east of the village, or the Arkell Springs trail which stretches along the Eramosa River from Watson Rd. Just north of Arkell, east to nearby Eden Mills near the Eden Mills outdoor education centre and south- east to Arkell Rd. at the Nassagaweya-Puslinch Townline Rd. intersection, opened in 1974 by the Guelph Hiking Club.
When they are finally able to continue with their journey along minor side roads, they suddenly discover from the top of a hill that there is a motorway right next to them. Whilst trying to reach the motorway by driving down the slope of the hill, they overturn multiple times and their Lada comes to a stop with the wheels facing up. A speech therapist, who happens to be driving by in her BMW 5 Series, tries to help them and in doing so drops her fire extinguisher on Tschick's foot and seriously injures him. She then takes them to the nearest hospital, where Tschick gets his leg plastered.
Route 350, commonly known as Botwood Highway, is a side highway in Central Newfoundland that leads from the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) in Bishop's Falls to Botwood, Point Leamington and Leading Tickles. It is in length and contains several side roads to communities located off the route, such as Peterview, and Route 352 that leads to Point of Bay and the Cottrell's Cove- Fortune Harbour area. Route 350-17 branches off in Point Leamington and connects the small community of Pleasantview to the main route. Route 350 continues on from Point Leamington for another 25 km north to Leading Tickles where the road officially ends.
Brandhall is a suburb of Oldbury in the south of Sandwell near the borders with Birmingham and Halesowen in the West Midlands. The development of the area commenced during the 1930s with the construction of several hundred private houses along the Hagley Road and Wolverhampton Road, as well as several side roads leading off the main dual carriageways. However, most of Brandhall was developed in the 1950s and 1960s, when several thousand council houses, flats and bungalows were built by Oldbury Council. Most of the high and medium-rise flats in Brandhall were demolished in the early 2000s and in their place housing associations built new low-rise homes.
During Napoleonic wars, pyramidal poplars became a new element, popular due their fast growth and distinctive shape. Also in the middle of the 19th century, when the construction of imperial roads continued, but at the same time a network of non-state side roads was created, the law ordered the planting of avenues along them, especially fruit trees and mulberries. Many baroque alleys have aged and been felled, and fruit tree alleys have become increasingly popular. At the time of the development of motoring, the oldest avenues often hinder the widening and modernization of rural roads and are the subject of dispute between conservationists and traffic safety requirements.

A young male mountain lion, P-55, left the Santa Monica Mountains in 2017 by crossing the freeway on the grade during the night. The animal was wearing a tracking collar used by the National Park researchers studying the mountain lions in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The Hill fire temporarily closed the freeway on November 8, 2018 as Santa Ana Winds pushed the fire to the south towards Newbury Park and California State University Channel Islands.
The United Kingdom government then announced a contribution of £93 million towards construction and the regional development agency One NorthEast pledged another £8.5 million, with the council funding the remaining £23 million required. The decision to build the Spence design became official Sunderland City Council policy on 9 September 2009. In November 2009, public notices on the compulsory purchase of land and new rights for the project were published including side roads orders and bridge schemes notices, made under the Highways Act 1980. An official planning application was placed with Sunderland City Council on 7 December 2009 with a consultation expiry date of 29 October 2010.
Remedial measures have been developed in an attempt to reduce the risk of junctions for cycle tracks. In some environments these represent established engineering practice while in others they may have to be retroactively applied in response to complaints and safety concerns. Examples include the addition of a separate system of traffic signals for bicycle traffic; markings – either coloured or sharrows continued through the intersection; bike boxes with no right turn on red lights for motorists, raised intersections, and elimination of car parking or the barrier as the cycle track approaches the intersection. Some treatments involve raising the cycle track onto a speed ramp-type structure where it crosses side roads.
In December 2015, Uganda National Roads Authority advertised for construction companies to tender bids for the construction works, comprising of main roads and an additional of side roads and connectors, totaling . Following the evaluation of those bids, a preferred contractor will be selected and a construction contract will be executed between the parties concerned. The construction contract was awarded to a Turkish construction company, Polat Yol Yapi Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. On 7 November 2019, the construction contract was signed between UNRA, represented by Allen Kagina, the agency's executive director and Emre Polat, representing the contractor. Work is expected to start in early 2020 and conclude in 2023.
Today West Stockwith is a village with one main street and a few side roads, one cul-de-sac of former farm- workers' houses and another the former vicarage. There are signs still of its industrial past with the well-preserved Water Lanes which allow access from the road to the banks of the River Trent, even via a ginnel under part of one property. The industry related to the River has gone, so too the original work related to the Chesterfield Canal which reaches the Trent at the Basin. This is now the home of river cruisers and narrow boats for hire and for leisure.
From the middle of the first century, a Roman military road connected it to the capital of the Roman province of Nervii in Bavay (Bagacum Nerviorum). It continued northwards as far as the naval port at present-day Rumst, with various side roads to the East and West. It is possible that there was a Roman military camp to the south west of the present town centre in what is now known as "borgstad", though its role has not been clearly proven. What is sure is that Asse grew to be a substantial settlement or vicus at an, at least locally, important road junction.
Since that time, it has been converted to an Antique Mall with boards covering much of the windows. In 1955, the roadway between Gold City on top of Cowee Mountain and Dillsboro was widened, realigned, and regraded to a straighter 2-lane format. Road cuts were added, and the road remained in this form until the 1970s, when it was straightened even more and expanded to be 5 lanes. Parts of the 1950s and 1920s roads still exist as side roads, but like the old US 19/23 through the Scotts Creek and Sylva Townships, it has been cut off in multiple places by the newer highway.

Shouson Hill, in the centre, with surrounding residential neighbourhoods Shouson Hill () is a hill (approx 150 m high) on the coast of Deep Water Bay east of Wong Chuk Hang on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It is also an affluent residential area located just to the north of the hill. The area consists primarily of Shouson Hill Road, a loop off the main Wong Chuk Hang Road, together with a few side roads. The hill is named after Chow Shouson, who was born in the village and became a senior official in the Qing Dynasty before the 1911 Revolution and then an active businessman and politician in Hong Kong.
Freeway travel eliminates almost all those conflicts save at entrance and exit ramps—which, at least on those freeways where cycling has not been banned, have sufficient room and sight for cyclists and motorists. An analysis of crashes in Arizona showed no safety problems with cycling on freeways. Fewer than one motor vehicle-bicycle crash a year was recorded on nearly open to cyclists in Arizona. Major arterial roads will often have partial access control, meaning that side roads will intersect the main road at grade, instead of using interchanges, but driveways may not connect directly to the main road, and drivers must use intersecting roads to access adjacent land.
At arterial junctions with relatively quiet side roads, traffic is controlled mainly by two-way stop signs which do not impose significant interruptions on traffic using the main highway. Roundabouts are often used at busier intersections in Europe because they help minimize interruptions in flow, while traffic signals that create greater interference with traffic are still preferred in North America. Motorists know they're getting close to Downtown DeLand itself when they intersect State Road 15A, but SR 44 doesn't actually enter downtown until it passes through the Downtown DeLand Historic District and approaches U.S. Route 17/92. Here, West New York Avenue becomes East New York Avenue, but no turns at this intersection are allowed from either direction. Access to US 17/92 is only available from nearby side roads two or more blocks away. The road begins to move southeast from Talmadge Gardens Road to East Voorhis Avenue then takes a south turn along the west coast of Lake Winnemisett and becomes a four-lane divided highway again at the south end of Lake Winnemisett.
In January 2014, it was described as "the busiest, most unserviced, long stretch of highway in the nation" by MP Murray Cowper, Member for Murray-Wellington. With toilets only available at the John Tognela Rest Area near the southern end of the highway, travellers have reportedly stopped alongside the highway or side roads to urinate and change nappies. A farming family with property adjacent to the highway was willing to invest in a roadhouse near Herron Point, but Main Roads required roadhouses to be built on both sides of the highway. According to Cowper, traffic volume would need to increase from 17,000 to 30,000 vehicles per day to justify such an investment.
A local bus service (provided by Nefyn Coaches) provides a connection every one and two hours (7am, 8am and 9am for 1 hour buses, and every 2 hours from 9am onwards) between Tudweiliog and Pwllheli, the nearest market town, approximately away. The bus stops at other villages on the way, including Nefyn, Dinas, Trefor and Pencaenewydd, depending on which bus is taken. The B4417 goes through the village the road and joining side-roads give access to nearby villages such as Morfa Nefyn and Nefyn, only a 7- and 10-minutes drive away respectively. The B4413 also provides a connection to Botwnnog, which houses the nearest high school (Ysgol Botwnnog) amongst other amenities.
If road conditions or car trouble strand a motorist in the more remote areas of the basin, during the pulses of intense winter cold common to this area, there is a real risk of death or injury by freezing. The Tongue River basin does not have the "gumbo" type mud that affects road travel in wet weather on the north side of the Yellowstone River. Traffic on the gravel and dirt roads of the Tongue River basin is a problem at sharp corners, blind hilltops, concealed entrances to side roads, and when suddenly encountering oversized slow ranch/farm vehicles. In warm weather it is a good idea to keep an eye out ahead for dust clouds indicating approaching vehicles.
In late 2010, a proposed Council upgrade to the road, which was to focus on improving public transport and cycling links (via 24/7 bus lanes and cycle lanes), created substantial public debate. Conflicting views existed on whether the necessary removal of parking (a good part of which was to be reinstated in side roads as extra angle parking) would significantly harm the road, reducing amenity for locals, and endangering the street's shops. Further heavily criticised was the concurrent proposal by the Citizens & Ratepayers-dominated Council to remove the bus lanes and replace them with transit lanes allowing cars. The proposed upgrade was eventually tabled to be revisited only after the elections creating the first unified Auckland Council.
The trust was formed in 1765 after fifteen petitions were presented to parliament on 25 December 1764 calling for the road to be turnpiked because it was stated to be "in many places impassable for wheeled conveyances in winter". The highway covered by the trust extended for across east Sussex from Ringmer, near Lewes, in the west, to Hurst Green in the east, where it met the principal turnpike road from London to Hastings (today's A21). The first section of road to be turnpiked ran from Hurst Green to Burwash; the rest followed three years later. A number of toll gates and bars were erected in the Burwash area on the principal highway and side roads.
Netherne-on-the-Hill is a village in Surrey, England, occupying a plateau once home to Netherne Hospital. The village is across a narrow valley from Hooley in north of the borough of Reigate and Banstead; through the valley runs the Hooley Tunnel cutting and A23, the only road from which the village can be accessed, from two designated side roads; a few metres south of the southern T-junction, the road divides into two grades: the A23 to Redhill, south, and the M23 motorway which has a junction with the M25 motorway within Merstham's boundaries, the former village of the hilltop land. The post town, Coulsdon in Greater London is centred due north.
Abbotswood is the closest part of Burpham to Guildford and its only distinctively named neighbourhood. It comprises detached houses and the George Abbot School - it includes a road named Abbotswood and only a few other side roads off London Road such as Boxgrove Avenue; as with Burpham, within the post town of Guildford, directly north and east of the small roundabout north of Stoke Park. The land here ranges from a line of western drained fields at almost river level, named spreads, in flood times, marshland to ascending gentle slopes eastwards including the street Ganghill reaching towards the New Guildford Line railway. It has two listed buildings: Woodways and Stoke Park Farm House.
Furthermore, Marlatt stresses some decisions—referred to as apparently irrelevant decisions—may seem inconsequential to relapse, but may actually have downstream implications that place the user in a high-risk situation. For example: As a result of heavy traffic, a recovering alcoholic may decide one afternoon to exit the highway and travel on side roads. This will result in the creation of a high-risk situation when he realizes he is inadvertently driving by his old favorite bar. If this individual is able to employ successful coping strategies, such as distracting himself from his cravings by turning on his favorite music, then he will avoid the relapse risk (PATH 1) and heighten his efficacy for future abstinence.
North East Valley sits in the valley of the Lindsay Creek, a tributary of the Water of Leith and on the flanking slopes of Pine Hill and Signal Hill, to the northeast of the city centre. North East Valley is a residential suburb, and is home to a mix of older residents and students from the city's tertiary institutions (the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic, which lie to the south, beyond the Dunedin Botanic Gardens. The suburb mainly consists of one long street, North Road, and numerous perpendicular side roads which branch off of it, many of which - especially on the eastern (Signal Hill) side - are notoriously steep. One of these, Baldwin Street, is reputedly the world's steepest street.
A group of these Native Americans were, in deeds and correspondence, known as the Sepasco Indians, a name specific to Native Americans in the Sepasco area (modern-day Rhinebeck). The word Sepasco probably originated from the tribe's word for little river or stream, sepuus, which is believed to have referred to the Landsman Kill. By 1685, a trail known as the Sepasco Trail was formed by them and was routed from the Hudson River, eastward through the present-day Village of Rhinebeck, ending at Lake Sepasco. The trail from the Village of Rhinebeck to Lake Sepasco follows roughly modern-day NY 308, in some areas slightly to the south, where the highway's side roads are curved in a pattern similar to that of the Sepasco Trail.

During the next thirty years most of the housing in Norbury was constructed, with the houses and roads in different areas forming part of several residential estates.
Just north of the intersection the Central Florida Parkway leads to Sea World. Neither of these intersections or interchanges however, compare to the combined interchanges of Florida's Turnpike and SR 528 (Beachline Expressway), in Sky Lake, which contains a series of convoluted interchanges and partial ramps from side roads. North of this interchange, the road passes west of The Florida Mall and intersects SR 482\. In Holden Heights, US 441 has an interchange with I-4 (Exit 80). Eastbound access from I-4 comes from partial cloverleaf ramps, and westbound access comes from a left-turn ramp between the two carriageways that runs under the eastbound lane and merges with the east to southbound ramp before merging with southbound OBT.
The next moderate intersection after this is bi-county CR 132 (Stagecoach Road), which spans east and west through northern Suwannee County from US 90 at Suwannee River State Park, through US 129 in Suwannee Springs. As the road approaches 16th Street, it curves from the northwest to the northeast, and the farmland gives way to forestland until it curves straight north and encounters some smaller farm fields. The last two intersections in the county are two side roads; 167th Street a grass road which forks off to the left and 8th Terrace, a paved road which forks off to the right and leads to Plantation Road. From there the road curves slightly to the northwest and enters more forest land.
Moolakadai Junction is an important road junction in Chennai, India. It is located at Moolakadai at the intersection of the Grand Northern Trunk Road (NH 5), Madhavaram High Road, Tondiarpet High Road, Kamaraj Road. Moolakadai is primarily a high traffic area in North Chennai due to the movement of Heavy vehicles (mainly containers) as most of those heavy vehicles have to pass through Moolakadai in order to reach the Chennai Port. For those who come from South Chennai, Moolakadai acts as the gateway to the areas like History of moolakadai was that once a tea shop was situated corner of all three side roads connecting spot which used renowned landmark of that period Madhavaram, Kodungaiyur, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Mathur MMDA, Manali, Vyasarpadi, Puzhal, Redhills, Karanodai.
Whilst American troops were travelling through the outskirts of Degenershausen Estate, vast amounts of abandoned and destroyed German military vehicles were scattered among the side roads, with some containing various amounts of archives from the Nazi German government. First Lieutenant David D. Silberberg initially discovered documents signed by foreign minister of Nazi Germany Joachim von Ribbentrop, and returned to Degenershausen to further the background of his findings. After being advised of the locations Meisdorf House and Marburg Castle, he escorted intelligence officers to the sites where a number of items were discovered. During this time, American troops arrested a German soldier named Karl von Loesch, an assistant to Hitler's personal translator Paul-Otto Schmidt, as he was retreating from Treffurt, near Eisenach.
By the start of the 21st century, several members of the Ngati Toa tribe had served on the Porirua City Council, and the whole locality around the Ngatitoa Domain had become a busy suburb and fishing base with housing and commerce. A new suburb, Papakowhai, has grown on the hills to the south, while the large suburb of Whitby has developed to the east, with its main access via SH58 from the Paremata Roundabout. In August 2004 a new road bridge was opened for northbound traffic, allowing southbound traffic to use both lanes of the old bridge. This is part of an ongoing project by Transit New Zealand to solve congestion issues and improve safety of motorists, pedestrians and local residents accessing SH1 from side-roads and driveways.
Familiar with Islamic architecture, Utzon based his competition design on a walled miniature city consisting of departments arranged around courtyards and accessed through a central hall, rather like a souk. In his own words, "We had the idea of constructing the building around a central hall, a bazaar street, in such a way that all departments met in side roads off the bazaar road, just as we know from the bazaars in the Middle East and North Africa..." The hall led through to a ceremonial entrance beside a covered square facing the sea. The complex consisted of a parliamentary chamber, a large conference hall, each with sag roofs, and a free-standing, flat-roofed mosque. Together with the covered square, they formed the corners of an incomplete rectangle.
This caused the Burlington Steamboat Days to cancel and close up three days early, the first such occurrence that the festival has closed more than one day early since its inception in 1962. Severe flooding caused the city to close off an entire section of the riverfront, from Main Street to the riverfront. By the morning of June 15, several streets within the city had been closed off, including the entire length of Front Street; a section of Main Street, between Division Street, and Jefferson Street; a section of Mill Dam Road; Tama Road and all of its side roads; and County Highway 99. U.S. Highway 61, five miles (8 km) south of the city, had been closed on the morning of June 13 due to the rising waters of the Skunk River.
The parkway begins at the Adams Avenue interchange on I‑84 (Exit 85) in South Weber in Davis County. (The diamond interchange, which existed prior to the construction of the southern end of the parkway, also provide a connection south to 475 East in South Weber.) On the north side of the interchange is an intersection to the west end of Cottonwood Drive, which continues easterly to Uintah. North of Cottonwood Drive the road widens to five lanes, begins the privately owned toll section, and crosses over the Weber River. (The river forms the border between South Weber and Washington Terrace, as well as between Davis and Weber counties.) Heading northwesterly, the toll section (which has no shoulders, sidewalks, or side roads) has a posted speed limit of .
The toponymy Caparica developed from a legend about an old woman who lived between Almada and the ocean, over cliffs of Sul do Tejo. The old woman, thin and frail, wore a multi-coloured patchwork cape to protect herself from the cold, and who pandered to the local people of the small hamlet in which she lived. Many assumed she was a witch and miser, who guarded a fortune, but who, nonetheless never missed mass (travelling long distances between mountains and valleys while huddling on the side-roads under her cape) and regularly panhandled in the streets.
