Vig used a thirty-year-old Roger Meyer limiter to saturate the drum sounds on "Shut Your Mouth" ("...to make them sound thrashy").

In his review for AllMusic, Timothy Monger wrote of the album: "With whiffs of Skellington, Autogeddon, and even early World Shut Your Mouth-era Cope, Drunken Songs is still its own unique animal and reveals our hero to be in fine creative fettle, still challenging himself and listeners even after 30 albums". Aaron Badgley of Spill Magazine called it one of Cope's "best albums in his career" and added, "He sings of Liverpool and traces his Irish ancestry by, at times, using alcohol as a metaphor. By exploring his past, he has produced a very English album".Badgley, Aaron.
George Catlin was a 19th century American painter, author, and traveler, who specialized in portraits of Native Americans in the Old West. Travelling to the American West five times during the 1830s, he wrote about, and painted portraits that depicted, the life of the Plains Indians. He was also the author of several books, including The Breath of Life (later retitled as Shut Your Mouth and Save Your Life) in 1862. It was based on his experiences traveling through the West, where he observed a consistent lifestyle habit among the Native American communities he encountered: a preference for nose breathing over mouth breathing.
A screenshot of the offline version of the Beautiful Garbage mixer The CD formats of Beautiful Garbage contained an enhanced element which users could access and remix four tracks from the album: "Shut Your Mouth", "Androgyny", "Breaking Up the Girl" and "Cherry Lips". Rejecting the artwork used for the single in Europe, Mushroom commissioned a new photoshoot so that the single cover would feature Manson's image (this was a first for Garbage, who had never appeared on the covers of their singles or albums before). Mushroom also commissioned new remixes and a live music video for the UK release; the video debuting online and on Kerrang! TV on September 16. Mushroom Records finally released "Shut Your Mouth" in the UK on September 23; the single was marketed as a three CD single set, each in card sleeves, with a card wallet with the first disc to store the whole set.
The lack of success in conventional comedy prompted him to go back to his hidden camera roots and started to create a new series which was very similar to Trigger Happy TV, with short stunts overlaid with a soundtrack. He was the main participant in these stunts. As with his previous work, the programme had an emphasis on surrealism, with sketches such as a spying gnome and nerds taunting skateboarders. Where Trigger Happy TV took place in various places around the United Kingdom, the larger budget of World Shut Your Mouth allowed for international travel and filming, and many of the stunts took place at, or near, major international landmarks.
Made in London was a pop group made up of three members, British Kelly Bryant and Sherene Dyer, and Norwegian Marianne Eide, who released several records in 2000. Despite wide publicity, particularly surrounding their second single, "Shut Your Mouth", combined with a certain amount of internet-based success,BlogSpot article about Made In London their most successful chart hit was "Dirty Water" which reached number 15 in the UK Singles Chart in May 2000. Following the release of "Wishing Well", a cover version of the 1987 Terence Trent D'Arby song, the group disbanded. Australian girl group Bardot later covered "Dirty Water" for their second album, Play It Like That.
They went on to make two albums for Epic Records, The Sound Of Sunbathing and Pet Rock, and achieved moderate success before they disbanded in 1981. François continued playing sessions while remaining with Epic Records, releasing a solo single "If You Love Me", before joining The Teardrop Explodes for their Wilder album tour, which took in the UK, Europe, Australia and the US. He also features on the 1984 Julian Cope solo album World Shut Your Mouth. In 1984, François played bass guitar on the album This Island with Eurogliders. " Wentz described "I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea that Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)" as "looking in the mirror and not feeling safe in your own skin". The band wanted to create a record that was "a lot more developed," Wentz said. "When we did Take This to Your Grave, we were really young, we had two weeks to do it and it was like, make it or break it, this is your only shot. This time we had more time to sit with the songs and make them work and more of a chance to plan things out.
In February 1983, Mercury Records released a delayed (and now posthumous) Teardrop Explodes EP, "You Disappear From View", which included songs salvaged from the aborted third album. The EP received average reviews and charted poorly at No. 41 in the UK charts. Following the band's dissolution, Julian Cope began a career as a solo artist, writer and cultural commentator which continues to this day. Gary Dwyer played drums on Cope's 1984 debut solo album World Shut Your Mouth, and would drum for The Colourfield in 1986 and Balcony Dogs in the late 1980s, but would subsequently leave music for a variety of jobs including fork-lift driver.
The tour set list omits less well known songs for festival appearances. Shirley Manson and Steve Marker on-stage at San Diego's Street Scene Rehearsals for the Bleed Like Me tour took place during February and March 2005. Pre-production tasks included sourcing and programming the sounds and samples from Bleed Like Me into the band's samplers, synths and drum triggers and configuring settings for three sets of control gear and backline racks. Alt URL Slightly different arrangements of older songs were composed, particularly for the intro section of "Only Happy When it Rains", the middle 8 of "Supervixen" and the codas of both "#1 Crush" and "Shut Your Mouth". Due to having limited rehearsal time, Garbage were only able to prepare an initial setlist of around fifteen songs.
With Cally's encouragement, Cope made the effort to clean up and compete. He formed a new backing group (informally known as the "Two-Car Garage Band") featuring Skinner, Whitten, former Teardrops associate James Eller on bass guitar, and himself on vocals, rhythm guitar and assorted keyboards (Cope performed the latter under the alias of "Double DeHarrison" until the band hired Richard Frost as full-time keyboard player). This band lineup recorded Cope's third solo album Saint Julian, mostly composed of crisp and memorable rock songs. It was trailed by the single "World Shut Your Mouth", which became Cope's biggest solo hit, reaching No. 19 in the UK in 1986 and becoming his only Top 20 solo hit.
"Crooked Teeth" is a song by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, the second single from their fifth album, Plans, released on April 11, 2006. The single was released on Atlantic Records, featuring the song "Crooked Teeth" and two B-side tracks: "Talking Like Turnstiles", and a cover of the Julian Cope song "World Shut Your Mouth", which was originally released two years earlier as a B-side on the internet-only single "Title and Registration", from the band's previous album, Transatlanticism. The single managed to peak at number 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, making it Death Cab for Cutie's seventh highest charting song in the United States to-date.
A couple of months later she released "Don't Put It on Me" and then she and her Record Label reached a 'hiatus' and wanted to go in different directions which they did. Avgoustakis soon agreed to a new recording contract with Mostiko, which led to the single "Shut Your Mouth", with music different from her normal sounds. The single fared well in the charts charting in its first week at number three in the 'Ultratop 50'. In the following months, she released three more singles: "He's Not Like You", "Upon The Catwalk" (soundtrack from a Belgium TV channel '2BE'"Topmodel") and "Ultrasonic" Ultrasonic made it in the Canada Dance Charts on the 2nd place.
A beat-driven piano ballad about a broken relationship, it features leading vocals by Sandy Mölling while Lucy Diakovska appears as a backing vocalist only. Initially scheduled for a November 27, 2009, release, it was eventually scrapped as the album's second single. "Dance-Aholic," an up-tempo anthem about the joy of nightclub dance, was created the day after the aftershow party of the 2009 ECHO Awards where band members Benaissa and Wahls had impressed producers Atweh and Pearce with their dance-craziness. Seventh track "Shut Your Mouth" was one of the first songs the band wrote with Evan "Kidd" Bogart and his The Writing Camp collective during the album's first creative session in Los Angeles, California in August 2008.
For 2001 dates, the Felix da Housecat remix of "Androgyny" heralded the band onstage for the U2 support sets, which debuted Beautiful Garbage album tracks "Androgyny", "Cherry Lips", "Til The Day I Die", "Drive You Home" and "Shut Your Mouth" live onstage, as well as brought back "Silence Is Golden", which was debuted at the end of the Version 2.0 tour in 1999. For the European shows, the set was swollen with the debut of "Breaking Up the Girl" and returning album cuts such as "Not My Idea" and "Supervixen". In 2002, an intro tape of the instrumental "Noziroh" by hip-hop producer Nobody preceded the band onstage, where they opened with "Push It". Returning album cuts for these dates included "Hammering In My Head" and "Temptation Waits", while also debuting "Cup of Coffee", "Parade", "So Like A Rose" and Version 2.0 b-side "Get Busy With the Fizzy".
'" This penchant is enhanced by an "unabashedly pop coating, an element that Garbage clearly revel in, as well as should the listener." He described it "every bit as enticingly postmodern as their other albums, and it sounds distinctly Garbage" and although the fusion elements are perceptible, "they seem less like magpies, more themselves, which means Beautiful Garbage is a more consistent record." David Browne of Entertainment Weekly observed Manson's continued "aggressive bite" complemented by "throbbing tracks like 'Till the Day I Die' and 'Shut Your Mouth'", as well as exposing "tender aspects" in "heartfelt" and "subdued" songs like 'Cup of Coffee' and 'So Like a Rose'. He noted however that the band's "experiments with sonic expansion yield more mixed results"; "They thaw their sound by adding elements of trip- hop, which works for 'Cup of Coffee' and the first single, 'Androgyny'...But on a record that's more self-consciously varied than 1998's Version 2.0 other attempts are gimmicky and less successful.
Cover versions performed throughout 2002 include Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses" and The Ramones' "I Just Want to Have Something to Do", as well as impromptu renditions of Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and "Pipeline" by The Chantays. Two special concerts in London in August 2002 also saw resurrect debut album cut "As Heaven Is Wide", early b-sides "Lick the Pavement" and "Girl Don't Come" as well as perform the obscure "Soldier Through This" for the first time. By the end of the run, the only Beautiful Garbage album tracks not performed live at some point were "Can't Cry These Tears", "Nobody Loves You" and "Untouchable". None of the era's b-sides were performed, although a live recording of "Wild Horses" was featured on the "Shut Your Mouth" single and a studio production of "I Just Wanna Have Something To Do" was recorded during the tour for the 2003 various artists album We're a Happy Family: A Tribute to Ramones.
In 1991, two CDs were released entitled "Never Mind the Mainstream: The Best of MTV's 120 Minutes" volumes 1 and 2 and featured many songs featured on the program. Artists included Red Hot Chili Peppers, Echo & the Bunnymen, Julian Cope, R.E.M., Sinéad O'Connor, Ministry, Depeche Mode, Sonic Youth and Violent Femmes. An African immigrant from Mali, Traoré was reportedly enraged following a family dispute and gained access to the neighbouring apartment of a different family, who immediately locked themselves into a bedroom, phoned police for help, and waited in fear as they listened to the intruder reciting verses from the Quran. The police are believed to have first gone to the wrong building while Traoré climbed a balcony from the apartment where the family was sheltering behind a locked door, to the apartment of Halimi, the only Jewish resident of the building. When police finally arrived at the apartment the intruder had entered first, they delayed entering while they awaited the arrival of an elite squad, while more phone calls came in to the police emergency hotline reporting a woman screaming as a man apparently beat her and shouted "shut your mouth", "Allahu Akbar", and "I killed the Shaitan". After throwing Halimi from a third-floor window, Traoré returned to the first apartment where the family, still cowering in a room and awaiting the police, again heard him praying aloud.
