The second occasion was unsuccessful, when the escaping PoW was discovered hiding in the camp shower block and "Albert" was discovered in the subsequent searches. Worsley made a new "Albert" for use in the film.

The kitchen has attached skillion roofed spaces on the northern and eastern sides. A water tank and stand is located beside the shower block. A shallow pitched corrugated iron roof on timber posts situated just south of the main building, shelters the head of the artesian bore and the generating plant. The derelict prison cell blocks have fallen into extreme disrepair and the dining hall roof collapsed along with the shower block in early 2013. The site has now been secured with high wooden hoarding along with signs erected stating Guard Dogs and Barbed Wire being present on the inside. On May 6th 2020, a fire broke out on the site and one of the former prison camps buildings was damaged by the fire.

The guards were mainly Austrian army veterans and conditions in the camp were better than in many other POW camps in Germany. The basin is the home for Cabot Cruising Club who own the lightvessel John Sebastian, which was commissioned in 1886. On the morning of 25 June 2019, he was severely beaten by several other prisoners in shower block of 10 Wing in Long Bay and was transferred to hospital in a critical condition. On 23rd August 2020 it was revealed by the Daily Telegraph that Murphy at some point had been moved back from Long Bay to Goulburn. , Les Murphy was housed in Goulburn Correctional Centre in maximum security.

The scour buildings contain extensive machinery and equipment, including steam engines, boilers, cast iron tanks, dryers, wool presses, and a complex system of belts, pulleys and shafts. The group of smaller scale buildings to the south east of the main building consists of a kitchen, shearer's quarters, toilet block, shower block and meat preparation shed. Excepting for the meat preparation shed which is a square planned, hipped roof enclosure, these buildings have simple gable roofs. The shearer's quarters has a verandah on the western side.

In late 2013 work began to extend the Lower School. The extension of the Lower School was completed in 2018 when 4 changing rooms and a shower block had been converted into classrooms for roughly 60 pupils from Reception to Year 3. Remains of a wharf jut into the sea over the rocks of the Point, which include wooden piers, thick iron staples and various carvings into the softer rock. WBMC Hut in Snowdonia In December 1957 West Bromwich (now Sandwell) Education Authority bought Plas Gwynant, one-time home of prime minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, together with its outbuildings for less than £5,000. The Club used this site for camping, but after a few years was offered a disused Dutch barn in the grounds for conversion into a hut. Work began in January 1961 to dig out and level the floors, and it was officially opened for use in 1963. Electricity was connected in 1967 and a toilet and shower block added in 1975.

The iconic Zig Zag Railway was mostly destroyed by the State Mine fire. Due to re-open in November, after closure following accreditation issues with the New South Wales Government, the railway suffered millions of dollars of damage which included ten passenger carriages, accommodation carriages, a near-complete new shower block and meals room, spare parts centre and workshop. Much of the damage was suffered by original railway equipment from the 1920s. It is estimated that the railway would take a full year to recover from the State Mine fire.

The West Workshops were built at the start of the twentieth century, providing more work for prisoners through a paint shop, mat maker, shoe maker, book binder and tailor shop. The five western workshops are a single storey squared limestone rubble building with openings dressed in brick, with an open saw- tooth roof with southern skylights, concealed behind a parapet wall. In 1993 the western workshops were adapted for use as TAFE art workshops. Buildings in the area south of the east workshops were used for a shower block, helmet workshop and associated sheds.

Cheryl Gene Grimmer (1966 – disappeared 12 January 1970; declared legally dead in 2011) was a three-year-old toddler who was kidnapped on 12 January 1970 from Fairy Meadow Beach in Wollongong, Illawarra, New South Wales, Australia. She had been in the shower block at the beach when witnesses claim a man took her and ran off. It is believed that she was strangled to death around an hour after her abduction, in the nearby suburb of Balgownie. Cheryl's disappearance had been without explanation for over 45 years, until a suspect was arrested and charged in March 2017.

Second larger viaduct carrying the railway above the valley which was home to the pleasure grounds owned and operated by the Railway Company; the viaduct was removed in 1975 although the stanchions still remain today. The viaduct dominated the parks below which featured a children's playground, boating lake, bowling greens, tennis courts and putting green. The site remains as a campsite today but the majority of the former features have been removed. A Campsite toilet and shower block has been provided in more recent times and a shop, the area remains popular today forming part of a national glen.

The Forests Commission built a new camp next to the Aire Valley Redwoods in March 1948 which consisted of a kitchen cookhouse and mess, shower block, toilets, woodshed and eighteen small two-man Stanley Huts. The bulk of the planting work in the Aire Valley Plantation was then done by post-war immigrants and refugees from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The first batch of "Balts" as they became known, arrived at Colac in April 1949 and lived in the Aire Valley Camp for up to two years as part of their government sponsored resettlement program. It was reportedly a bleak existence, particularly in winter, but they made the camp comfortable.

Gerald Vigors De Courcy O'Grady MC (The O'Grady), donated a gate-lodge from his estate as a dressing room and sold a pitch to the club for the nominal sum of £1. The club grounds at Kilballyowen Park now include an area of approximately , with 2 full pitches and 2 Training pitches, all of them floodlit. The club pavilion has a newly updated bar, a dance area with full lighting, kitchen facilities, gymnasium, president's room, office and a dressing room complex containing 6 dressing rooms, shower block, medical room, recovery room, storage facilities and a kit shop. In the mid- to late 1980s the club underwent a major revamp of its under-age structure with the creation of a specific under-age committee for the purpose of promotion of the game of Rugby Football with the youth within the catchment area of the club.
