When they return home, David repeatedly irritates Joe by talking about the pills and when Joe shouts at him, Gail angrily asks for an explanation, further frustrating Joe.
Gail unexpectedly arrives home whilst Joe is showing the quick-sale company around and angrily asks them to leave. She then confronts Joe and reveals that she has decided to take the house off the market and find another way to solve the debt, as she feels sorry for David. Joe is apoplectic with rage and shouts at Gail which leads out into the street with Joe insulting Gail with the claim that all her men end up doomed, resulting in Gail slapping him. Joe eventually begs for forgiveness and confesses that the person he owes money to is a loan shark, and that he has threatened his family.

To appease the increasingly curious press, Welles threw a cocktail party for selected reporters, promising that they could watch a scene being filmed. When the journalists arrived Welles told them they had "just finished" shooting for the day but still had the party. Welles told the press that he was ahead of schedule (without factoring in the month of "test shooting"), thus discrediting claims that after a year in Hollywood without making a film he was a failure in the film industry. Welles fell ten feet (3 m) while shooting the scene in which Kane shouts at the departing Boss Jim W. Gettys; his injuries required him to direct from a wheelchair for two weeks.

On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Back to Basics received an average score of 69, which indicates "generally favorable reviews", based on 17 reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine from AllMusic appreciated the album's production, commenting that the project was "all the more impressive" coming after the "near career suicide of Stripped". Entertainment Weeklys Jody Rosen opined that Aguilera "can make her own glorious kind of 21st-century noise" and compared Aguilera's vocal ability on the album to that of Mariah Carey. Mike Joseph of PopMatters felt that Aguilera "still shouts at times when a coo will do", but felt that her choice in collaborators made for an "ultimately rewarding listen".

Edgar Usher encourages his son, The Fool, to leave home and escape his bad influence; The Fool makes plans to leave his family and make his own way in the world ("Fathers & Sons").
The music video for the song was filmed on location in Los Angeles, California and was directed by Ryan Smith. It shows the band performing on what appears to be a helicopter pad at the top of a tall building (possibly a hospital or a news station). At the beginning, the individual band members are shown while a flag showing the band's logo flutters behind them. As the band begins, three teenagers are shown: a girl sitting at dinner with her parents, who suddenly start arguing, a boy sitting in the back seat of a car as his father shouts at him while driving and another boy working in a restaurant kitchen as his boss starts berating at him.

He never intends to keep his word, thinking that once he has all the forest clans united under his rule, he will easily be able to get rid of Scourge, whom he severely underestimates because of Scourge's small size and Tigerstar's own arrogance. Tigerstar clearly does not remember the time when he almost murdered the small black cat as a kitten, though Scourge certainly remembers and despises him, though he very deliberately says nothing about their past confrontation. When WindClan and ThunderClan still refuse to submit to Tigerstar, he shouts at BloodClan to attack, but Scourge's followers refuse to fight without Scourge's orders, enraging Tigerstar. Maggie's vomiting is frowned upon by Judy, who often shouts at her to stop, even though she is stupid enough to tell her who made it, or even give it to her in the first place. This portrayal of vomiting strongly emulates the famous Monty Python's The Meaning of Life sketch, presenting an immensely fat man named Mr Creosote who vomits uncontrollably at a very alarming rate (Part VI: The Autumn Years). Generally, Maggie's own habit causes her to become quite cautious when eating some things. These bouts of racism/homophobia, however, are contradicted in Little Britain Abroad when Maggie and Judy holiday together in Italy and Maggie suggests they kiss (however, she vomits the moment she learns this is lesbian behaviour).

A massive argument ensues and Derek shouts at Max and Jack, saying he has never liked Max and he was the person who locked him in a coffin as a child (Max had believed it was Jim).

Holly tries to talk to Tony's half-brother Dominic Reilly (John Pickard), who is preparing a meal in the kitchen, about how Cindy is treating her, but this distracts Dom from his cooking - he drops his pan of food on the floor and shouts at Holly, causing her to run off, feeling even more isolated and alone. After looking for her themselves Tony and Cindy have no choice but to phone the police.

And it's not the first time we've met..." Later in the story, Tintin runs into Rastapopoulos again, this time running into his desert film set, interrupting an apparent assault on a young woman before realizing that it was only part of the film. Although many of the actors are annoyed, Rastapopoulos is affable, and invites Tintin into his tent where, over a pot of Turkish coffee, Tintin informs him of everything that has happened to him since leaving the cruise ship, Rastapoloulos subsequently providing him with clothes and directions to another village.

With all of his detectives either in the hospital or on other cases, Lt. Giardello takes a rare case as a primary, and reluctantly agrees to partner with Felton, who begs to be put back on duty after his hospitalization. At the crime scene, Felton is visibly upset by the body, and Giardello's initial concern is replaced with anger when Felton, more traumatized by his shooting than he had admitted, loses his temper and shouts at Giardello in the squad room. Giardello bluntly tells Beau that trauma is only the latest in a long line of excuses for substandard work as a detective, and that he has never been good enough for Homicide.
But Cotton retorted on 17 February 1888: I hope when the historian has to look back at the difficulties small holdings had to encounter... that there will not be "perils among false brethren" to be received as amongst the bitterest opposition. Another citizen entered the fray on 22 February 1888: For some years past Mr Cotton has been energetically blowing his own trumpet from the homestead blocks. Some of us working men are growing tired of [it]: Cotton's the man for all jobs, He scowls on all the nobs, He winks and shouts at the snobs, And he sighs for the Government's bobs.'' Yet another citizen offered an unflattering opinion of Cotton in the Register, 4 August 1890: ...They distrust him; they do not know in what category of politicians to place him; he really stands alone.

Still frustrated at not being fired, Garrison goes all out at the ceremony in an extremely flamboyant and stereotypically gay manner (humming Ferde Grofé's "On the Trail" from the Grand Canyon Suite). Although the parents finally understand what their kids were telling them about and are indeed shocked at Garrison's behavior, they cannot bring themselves to criticize it, as they fear being branded "intolerant". When the people continue to call Garrison and Mr. Slave "courageous" for their actions, Garrison finally breaks down and shouts at them that tolerating something does not mean you have to like it. He goes on to say that tolerating his homosexuality should not mean that he can do things which are obviously inappropriate in front of his students and begs to be fired so that he can collect on a discrimination lawsuit, but Principal Victoria says she has a better idea.
The protagonists in the love story are Vel (Ashok), a Hindu coming from a lower-middle-class family and a booking clerk at a lorry transport and cargo agency in Tuticorin and Manju (Vishakha Singh), a Roman Catholic girl, studying in the local college. Vel, who was the rider, finds his bike skidding and he ends up with bruises and shouts at Manju and her father Mariadas (Sampath Raj) who was riding the scooter, without realizing that he is the new customs officer at the local port whom he has to interact due to the nature of his work. Manju has a soft corner for him, fearing that due to her mistake he may end up with a head injury.
The text of the poem, as published in the Australian Town and Country Journal, is as follows: A cloud of dust on the long white road ; And the teams go creeping on, Inch by inch with the weary load ; And by the power of the green-hide goad The distant goal is won. With eyes half-shut from the blinding dust, And necks to the yokes bent low, The beasts are pulling as bullocks must, Till the shining rims of the tire-rings rust ; While the spokes are turning slow. With face half hid 'neath a wide brimm'd hat That shades from the heat's white waves, And shoulder'd whip with its green-hide plat, The driver plods with a gait like that Of his weary, patient slaves. He wipes his brow, for the day is hot, And spits to the left with spite ; He shouts at "Balley," and flicks at " Scot," And raises dust from the back of " Spot," And spits to the dusty right.
"If I had a title I'd be on the board of directors at the bank!" he shouts at Sergeant Wilson when the latter gains a title in the episode "The Honourable Man". Despite his arrogance being encouraged by his status as the bank manager (having started as a clerk and working his way up to assistant chief clerk, chief clerk and eventually manager), Mainwaring reveals in the same episode that he considers it a mere "tinpot branch" and his career is at a seemingly permanent standstill, as revealed in A. Wilson (Manager)?: whenever he applies for promotions he is always turned down due to his unimpressive background. Mainwaring's pomposity and snobbery work against him, as he is frequently dependent on those in the Home Guard that he considers beneath him, such as Sergeant Wilson, his chief clerk at the bank with whom he shares an antagonistic friendship and Private Walker, a black-marketeer who interrupts during Mainwaring's lectures with a quip or a sly revelation that Mainwaring is benefiting from underhand deals.
Mels then tells Fred that most of the other members of their former gang moved on with their lives, with Bob eventually arrested and sent off to Siberia for buying illegal records from a smuggler, Dryn getting into the army, etc. They share a bottle of Jack Daniel's, after which Fred promptly reveals to Mels that there are no "stilyagi" in the United States, and that he has never met there anyone living the same lifestyle, as such flamboyant behavior and such disrespect for the laws would have had them locked up in a mental asylum in mere minutes. Appalled by this, Mels shouts at Fred, telling him to get lost, and rhetorically states to himself: "But we do exist..." The film ends with Mels performing a song (together with the remaining stilyagi) that draws parallels between his movement and that of the late 1980s "nonconformist" Soviet countercultures (such as rockers and punks, among others), the moral of which is the importance of remembering to always stand for the values one believes in, which in turn allows for any of these cultures to be remembered over time.
