The Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2 is a one-off shooting brake manufactured in collaboration with Gruppo Bertone. It was shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The car was intended as a one-off special only but considering the positive response, Bertone decided to put the car into small scale production. The Ferrari SP FFX, introduced in 2014, is a one-off based on the FF. Its most notable feature is its custom body that features a more traditional coupé rear end in place of the FF's shooting-brake tail. The car was commissioned by a customer in Japan and was built by Ferrari's special vehicles division. Originally, when patent drawings surfaced online many sources thought the SP FFX was the design for the next generation Ferrari California.

Like its predecessor, the GTC4Lusso is a 3-door shooting-brake with an all-wheel drive drivetrain, and is powered by a front-mid mounted V12 engine. The GTC4Lusso's Ferrari F140 65° V12 engine is rated at at 8,000 rpm and of torque at 5,750rpm. The increase in output of the engine is due to the compression ratio raised to 13.5:1. Ferrari claims a top speed of , unchanged from the FF, and a acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

The rear features Ferrari's signature Quad Circular Rear Lights (last seen on the F430) and the interior contains a Dual Cockpit Concept Design, separating the Driver Cockpit and the Passenger Cockpit by a central divider. The front of the car has a single grille that provides all the necessary cooling. The GTC4Lusso is a further refinement of the shooting-brake coupe, reinterpreting the concept with an extremely streamlined, tapered shape that gives it an almost fastback-like silhouette.

The Bertone Jet features aluminium body panels shaped by hand and carbon fibre body work. The car also features a panoramic sunroof made entirely of glass and folding rear seats. A roof dimming system was said to have been in development as well as electric folding rear seats. Jaguar XF Sportbrake The Sportbrake was officially introduced in March 2012, and went on-sale in October of the same year. It is available with all of the saloon's engines and has a loading capacity of with the seats up and with them folded. The maximum capacity surpasses that of the contemporary BMW 5 Series Touring, Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, and the Mercedes- Benz CLS-Class (X218) Shooting Brake. In late 2006, DaimlerChrysler announced that it would show another concept car carrying the Nassau name, this time at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. Described by Chrysler as a 'four-door coupe' (however, it is a shooting-brake), it was speculated to be a design exploration for the next-generation Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum. The Volvo Concept Estate was the last of three concept cars designed by the head of design of Volvo, Thomas Ingenlath, which intended to point the way, for the future design direction of Volvo. The basic design was shared with the preceding Volvo Concept Coupe and Volvo Concept XC Coupe, while the Concept Estate is the shooting brake, like the 1800 ES, of the 1970s.

The Renault Avantime is a grand tourer marketed by the French manufacturer Renault, designed and manufactured by Matra, between 2001 and 2003. As a one- box design without B-pillars, styled by Patrick Le Quément, the Avantime combined the design elements of an MPV, estate or shooting brake with the style of a 2+2 coupé and elements of a convertible. The name "Avantime" is a portmanteau of the French word "Avant" (meaning "ahead") and the English word "time" -- with the latter using the English /taɪm/ rather than French pronunciation /tiːm/.

Folding forward the rear seat made an area nearly five feet square and three feet high. It was a two-seater with a very low and compact two-volume shooting brake bodywork, with a hatchback-style rear door. The design team for the Flying Star II was lead by Carlo Anderloni. The name "Flying Star II" was a reference to the Touring "Flying Star" roadsters of the prewar period, designed by Giuseppe Seregni and built on Isotta Fraschini and Alfa Romeo chassis. The Flying Star was built on the chassis and drive train of the 400 GT production model, sharing its 3.9 L Lamborghini V12 engine, 5 speed manual transmission, fully independent suspension and four wheel disc brakes.

The engine, already in some of the Audi's production models, such as the second generation Audi A3, and the Audi TT sports car, accelerated the Shooting Brake from in 6 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of . The vehicle also had Audi's quattro four wheel drive system. The exterior appearance was dominated by a massive single frame front grille, characteristic to the newest Audi models, as well as clear-glass headlights with new LED technology and 19-inch double-spoke wheels from quattro GmbH. The interior put the emphasis on sporty design and is dominated by materials like aluminium and leather.

W218 CLS-Class The C218 CLS is the second generation model, and was sold from 2011 to 2018. The body styles of the range are a 4-door coupé (C218 model code for Europe/ W218 for US market), and a 5-door estate (X218 model code, marketed as Shooting Brake). The design of the CLS was based on the Mercedes F800 concept and featured design cues from other models including the Mercedes SLS AMG. Unlike its predecessor, the C218 CLS is available with all-wheel drive and can be optionally configured on CLS63 AMG models as well.

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Touring Bentley Continental Flying Star premiered: a shooting-brake model based on the Bentley Continental GTC, coach built in limited series, with the endorsement of Bentley. In 2011, it was followed by Gumpert Tornante by Touring, a superfast Grand Tourer commissioned by the German sports car manufacturer. On the stage of 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Touring Superleggera showcased a static style model based on the space-frame chassis of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. It was a tribute to the C52 Disco Volante, a racing car with Touring Superleggera designed body introduced in 1952. The name in Italian stands for “Flying Saucer”.

The 365 GT4 2+2 followed a three-box design Ferrari turned to frequent styling partner Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, whose three-box design for the 365 GT4 2+2 was a clear departure from its fastback predecessor, the 365 GTC/4. It followed Fioravanti's Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona as the second Ferrari to feature the characteristic swage line dividing the body into upper and lower halves. Various coachbuilders, such as Carrozzeria Pavesi and Straman, offered convertible conversions of the 400 series. Switzerland's Felber also showed a shooting brake version on 400 GT basis called the Felber Croisette at the 1981 Geneva Salon de l'Auto.

In 2006, Van den Brink introduced a plan to design and build a special coachbuilt Ferrari. The artist impression of a modern-day GTO, to be based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was gained positive reception, prompting Vandenbrink Design to develop and build the design. Soon after, the company announced it was working on two other Ferrari-based designs, the Vandenbrink GT Convertible, based on the 599 GTB Fiorano and a shooting-brake version of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Currently the company is working on the "Vandenbrink GTO", a tribute to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, based on the underpinnings of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

The Surf's entire powertrain, chassis, and interior are identical to the Karma sedan, with the only major cabin change being the additional room in back for a couple of adults, and expandable room in the back is up from to anywhere from to .

In October 1961 the fuel tank was relocated to the underneath of the car and the filler cap was moved to low down on the right hand side of the car – the same configuration that was already in use on the Mini Van. From the start of production both models had a decorative, non-structural, ash wood trim on the rear body, in the style of a pre-war shooting-brake. This gave the car a similar appearance to the larger Morris Minor Traveller and gave rise to these cars simply being called a woodie. It is a popular misconception that the difference between the Traveller and the Countryman is the wood trim.

Accord AeroDeck The third-generation Accord was sold in Japan, Europe and New Zealand as a three- door hatchback with a flat roof over the rear seats, known in Europe as a shooting-brake. The bodystyle of a flat roof hatchback was also used on the third-generation Honda Civic (third generation) subcompact, the second- generation Honda City supermini and the first-generation Honda Today kei car. The Honda CR-X was the only three-door hatchback that adopted a fastback, sloping rear hatch "kammback" appearance, demonstrating a performance car appearance identified with Honda Verno products during the mid-1980s. In North America, the Accord coupe and hatchback models were offered instead.

Despite a three-door had been rumoured since 1991, until 1995 only a five-door hatchback bodystyle was offered. At the 1995 Geneva Motor Show the three-door was introduced, christened HPE—a denomination that had previously been used for a shooting brake variant of the Lancia Beta, and standing for "High Performance Executive". At first the HPE was only available with the three top engines: 2.0 16v, 1.9 turbodiesel and 2.0 16v turbo in HF guise. The three-door bodyshell had entirely redesigned body sides, but retained the roof and rear section of the five-door model; rear wheelarch flares complemented the HF-derived wide front wings and bumper, sported by all HPE versions.

This concept car was intended both as a future design manifesto and a technology demonstrator, the idea behind it being the rebirth of the coachbuilt automobile: Alfa Romeo would have supplied rolling chassis to be bodied by independent coachbuilders, and possibly sold through Alfa Romeo dealers. To achieve this stylistic flexibility the car was based on a modern space frame chassis with a separate body; it was designed to handle virtually any body style, from coupé to roadster to shooting brake. The Nuvola was penned by a group of young designers from Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, at the time headed by Walter de Silva. It featured LED lighting and bumpers fully integrated in the shape of the bodywork.

As with other competition-spec SWBs, this car had a lightweight body and chassis, minimal trim, and a more powerful 286 bhp Tipo 168 engine with Testarossa-type heads. Bizzarrini applied all the ideas he had developed working on the GTO and together with the car body specialist Piero Drogo developed an aerodynamically advanced body, even lower than the GTO's, with the roof line dramatically extended to the rear end following Kamm aerodynamic theory. The resulting shooting-brake appearance led to the French press nicknaming it "La Camionnette" (little truck), while the English- speaking journalists called it the "Breadvan." Bizzarrini moved the engine and radiator further back to the center of the chassis than the GTO, and lowered it by fitting a dry sump system.

The 250 GT SWB Breadvan's unusual but effective aerodynamics proved the Kamm tail design that would be used on many other racing cars, including the Ford J-car and the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ. Following the success of the Breadvan, two additional 250 GT SWB cars (S/N 2053 GT and 2735 GT) were modified for privateer drivers by Bizzarrini, Drogo, Neri and Bonacini, distinctively bodied with similar shapes. A third modified Ferrari was planned but not completed. An Iso Rivolta, chassis number IR460368, was also rebodied by Drogo in a similar style to 2819 GT. Similar shooting brake designs were used on later Ferrari concept cars and production cars such as the 456 GT Venice and the Ferrari FF.

The DS 5 was initially marketed as the Citroën DS5 Citroën DS5 DS 5 Rear (China) The DS5 was revealed at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show in April 2011. Although Peugeot and Citroën products have shared platforms and principal components since the closing decades of the twentieth century, the DS5 became in 2011 the first Citroën branded car to be assembled in Peugeot's lead European plant at Sochaux. The DS5 mixes hatchback and estate styling, resembling a shooting-brake. It is long and wide, dimensions that are similar to those of the Lancia Delta. This is hardly a coincidence: the DS5 is based on the PF2 platform as 3008 is too, not on the C5 as its name could imply.

1959 Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon In the early 1950s, the era of the wood-bodied station wagon was coming to an end. When Ford introduced a redesigned line of cars for the 1952 model year, its Country Squire continued to cater to buyers who still wanted a station wagon with the look of wood (attained by applying simulated exterior wood decals, which were framed in genuine wood through 1953). But for other wagon buyers, Ford also gave them two new choices that year, the first all- steel wagons in the firm's history. These were the Country Sedan, a four-door model in the mid-range Customline series; and the Ranch Wagon, which was a two-door model in the economy Mainline series, inspired by the European-term shooting-brake.

In the Japanese home market, the Accord was available with a full power package, heated mirrors (optional), a digital instrument cluster (optional), sunroof (optional), cruise control, and climate control (which was also optional). Some North European export models also had heated front seats and head light washers. North American and Australian Accords were not available with most of these options, presumably (and in the U.S. in particular) because Honda was seen as a builder of economy cars, and not to cannibalize sales from the recently introduced Acura line. Throughout the different markets, in addition to the sedan model the Accord was available with different bodystyles which included a three-door hatchback, a three-door shooting-brake called Accord AeroDeck, and a two-door coupe which was added in 1987 for the 1988 model year.

1954-1957 Hillman Husky Early station wagons cars were after-market conversions, with the new bodywork using a wooden frame and either steel or wooden panels. These wooden-bodied cars, produced until the 1960s, were amongst the most expensive vehicles at the time. Since the 1930s, the term shooting-brake (originally a term for hunting vehicles) has been an alternative, if now rarely used, term for station wagons in the UK. Later, station wagons were produced by vehicle manufacturers and include the 1937 Commer (based on the Hillman Minx Magnificent), 1952 Morris Minor Traveller, 1952 Morris Oxford Traveller, 1954 Hillman Husky, 1954 Austin A30 Countryman and 1955 Ford Squire. The majority of these models were two-door wagons and several models were built on the chassis of relatively small cars.

The ‘Roadster Coupe’ as shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show was already on its way to production form. It shared the design of the Roadster from the doors forward but had a glass Targa roof and rear structure resembling a small shooting-brake in the same way as the BMW Z3 coupe and the Saab 9X concept car developed under Mauer at Saab a few years later. Production versions of both Roadster and Roadster Coupe debuted together at the 2002 Paris Motor Show and were available to buy within a few months. Both cars were unique in the market, being significantly smaller than the Toyota MR2, MG TF, Fiat Barchetta and Mazda MX-5, but offering similar performance and practicality to the base versions of these cars while being significantly more fuel-efficient, albeit at a similar price point.

Compared to its predecessor, the C118 is 48 mm (1.9 in) longer, 53 mm (2.1 in) wider and loses 2 mm (0.1 in) in height, while its wheelbase has been extended by 30 mm (1.2 in). All models feature the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, including the "Hey Mercedes" voice-controlled assistant and a new Interior Assist gesture control system. Standard models feature two 7-inch displays for the instrument cluster and MBUX screen, and can be upgraded to 10.25-inch screens, a full-color head-up display, adaptive cruise control, active steering assist, and active brake assist. The X118 CLA Shooting Brake was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show.

A horse-drawn brake carriage A Peugeot Type 10 "break" automobile of 1894 Citroën Ami 6 Break A brake (French: break) was a horse-drawn carriage used in the 19th and early 20th centuries in the training of horses for draft work, or an early automobile of similar body design. A shooting-brake was a brake pressed into service to carry beaters, gamekeepers and sportsmen with their dogs, guns and game. There were purpose-built shooting-brakes designed to carry the driver and a footman or gamekeeper at the front facing forward, and passengers on longitudinal benches, with their dogs, guns and game borne along the sides in slatted racks. In the 19th century, a brake was a large, four- wheeled carriage-frame with no body, used for breaking in young horses, either singly or in teams of two or four.

Whilst in the United States, he had seen the developments in motive power and by 1897 he had produced his first car.
