Absorber is the second studio album by the German techno and electro project of the Munich-based DJ and producer Florian Senfter a.k.a. Zombie Nation. It was released on September 1, 2003 on his self-founded record label, Dekathlon Records.

The group emerged from Nigel Casey's DJ work on the UK's southern coast in the 1980s and the early 1990s. Casey was an influential house music DJ during this period. One of his early self-founded record labels was 909 Perversions Records, which Casey launched after working with artist Affie Yussuf. Arrowsmith received his Ph.D. in Social and Political Thought in 2001 from York University, Canada. His doctoral thesis examines technologies of the self founded in Montaigne's self-essays, Shakespeare's self- dramatisations in the historical plays, and Freud's self-analysis. Michael Darren "Mike" Mahaffey (January 21, 1967 – May 25, 2005) was a founding member of the power pop band Self. Founded with his brother, Matt Mahaffey, in the early 1990s, Self-released two major-label albums and various independent and Internet-only albums. A multi-talented performer, Mike played lead guitar, keyboards, and bass for the band on various occasions. Before joining Self, Mike played in several bands, the most successful of which was the Southern Rock band Blackfish.

Prowling Death Records originally was the self-founded underground label which released the Hellhammer demos and managed Hellhammer's career in 1983 and 1984. Howe was born in Oneida, New York. At the age of nine or ten, Howe wrote a play based on the "Blondie" comic strip as well as a variety of short stories and self-published newspapers. Of the latter his favorite is The Gory Gazette which he made for a self-founded club, Vampire Legion. Howe would continue to write plays during his theater studies at Boston University, and eventually move to New York City to pursue a career as an actor and model while directing plays and working as a literary agent.

In February 2011 Rose Hill Drive went into the studio and recorded a new album, and announced on their website a new US tour supporting Stone Temple Pilots through April and May. After a respite in June, Rose Hill Drive returned to touring in July 2011 with 15 more shows, opening for Stone Temple Pilots as well as headlining their own events. Götz Kubitschek (; born 17 August 1970) is a German publisher, journalist and far-right political activist. Kubitschek espouses ethnocentric positions and is one of the most important protagonists of the Neue Rechte (New Right) in Germany. Hailing from the staff of right-wing newspaper Junge Freiheit, Kubitschek is one of the founders of the Neue Rechte think tank Institut für Staatspolitik (Institute for National Policy; IfS). Since 2002, he is the manager of his self-founded publishing house Antaios, since 2003 chief editor of the journal Sezession, as well as editor of the corresponding blog Sezession im Netz.

Drill team of riders Self founded the New Canaan Mounted Troop in 1939, part of the Junior Cavalry of America. Open to boys and girls both, and described by some as “scouts on horseback,” the purpose of the troop was to teach children life skills as well as impart knowledge about horses and horsemanship. The children wore uniforms and not only rode horses, but also learned about grooming and other basic horse care as well as doing military exercises such as marching in figures. Among the members of the troop in its early years was future Olympian George H. Morris, who became a member in 1945 when he was seven years old.

In 2014, Creative Time commissioned an essay from Washko on her findings as the self-founded Council on Gender Sensitivity and Behavioral Awareness in World of Warcraft. She is the first person to ever sell a Vine video, which was bought by Dutch art advisor, curator and collector Myriam Vanneschi for $200 at the Moving Image Art Fair. "Tits on Tits on Ikea", the title of Washko's sold Vine, was an extension to a Vine she submitted to the #VeryShortFilmFest, which was selected as a runner-up in a project called "The Shortest Video Art Ever Sold," curated by Marina Galperina and Kyle Chayka. Her video work "Chastity" won the Terminal Award from the Center of Excellence in the Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University.
