Poirot refuses the commission, but attempts unsuccessfully to dissuade Jacqueline from pursuing her plans further. Set in Venice and adapted from a Philippe Djian's novel, Unforgivable (Impardonnables) follows Francis, an aging successful writer of crime novels, married to a much younger ex-model. While suffering from writer's block, he hires his wife's ex- lesbian lover to investigate the disappearance of his adult daughter from a previous marriage who had eloped while visiting Venice. As his marriage begins to crumble, Francis pays the detective's troubled son to secretly follow his wife's daily whereabouts. The film is populated by characters and, as it is usual in his films, Téchiné is more interested in observing them closely rather than be driven by the plot.

In Tunnels of Blood (set in the month of December), a vampire named Gavner visits Mr. Crepsley, and soon Darren, Evra, and Mr. Crepsley travel to what later is revealed to be Mr. Crepsley's birth city. Mr. Crepsley disappears several times for what Darren and Evra presume to be business, so they act as if they are on holiday. Later, Darren is looking for a Christmas present for Evra when he meets Debbie Hemlock, a girl whom he likes, and the two soon begin dating. Darren and Evra, later, see a news report about dead bodies being found, but dry of blood; they suspect it is Mr. Crepsley and secretly follow him.

A naval surgeon named Harry Sullivan happens by the accident, and the dying Boucher tells him to get word to Brigadier Lethbridge- Stewart of UNIT. Kyle sends her agent Voshinin to dispose of the Master, but the Master has already hypnotised the entire prison staff and only remains in the prison while it suits him to do so. He escapes before Voshinin can get to him, but mistakenly assumes that the attempt on his life was made by the 69 Krew and returns to the bank to discuss retaliation with Kyle. By now, Kyle has learned from the dying Grant that the Master is a Time Lord, and after their meeting she and Barron secretly follow the Master to a Rolls Royce which she realizes is his TARDIS.
