It has axillary scapes (1–3 cm long) that are slender and erect, with a few sheaths close by its base. Bracts are elliptic and acute.

Each inflorescence can produce up to a total of eleven flowers. In its natural habitat, G. aurea can be found flowering year-round. S. marcoyi is known only from the holotype, a worker collected from a soil sample. Nothing is known about its biology. S. marcoyi can be easily separated from other species in the genus by its comparatively diminutive size, conspicuously elongate head, comparatively short scapes, and by the presence of a smooth longitudinal stripe on the dorsum of mesosoma, which is otherwise covered by foveolae and subdecumbent to erect hairs.

The worker of Paratrechina zanjensis can easily be separated from Paratrechina longicornis based on the presence of erect macrosetae on the scapes. There are several other notable differences between the two species. The propodeal dorsal face of Paratrechina zanjensis is more convex than is observed in Paratrechina longicornis. Similarly, the pronotum and to a lesser degree the mesonotum are more convex in Paratrechina zanjensis, being almost flat in Paratrechina longicornis.

Formed in 1993 in, N17 was one of the original crossover electronic/metal bands. Maintaining a sound of timeless music with their records, Trust No One and Defy Everything, the group stayed true to its run as a band. Eriogonum ochrocephalum is a species of wild buckwheat known by the common name whitewoolly buckwheat. It is native to the Great Basin of the United States, where it grows in local habitat such as sagebrush. It is a perennial herb forming a thick clump or mat covered in clusters of woolly lance-shaped to oval leaves. The inflorescences arise on erect scapes and bear many tiny yellow flowers in a rounded cluster.
The leaf blades are straight or variously coiled, but some species have broad leaves, including A. victorialis and A. tricoccum. The leaves are sessile, and very rarely narrowed into a petiole. The flowers, which are produced on scapes are erect or in some species pendent, having six petal-like tepals produced in two whorls. The flowers have one style and six epipetalous stamens; the anthers and pollen can vary in color depending on the species.
The ant has pubescence (soft short hair) abundant throughout some certain parts of the body, including the funiculi and tarsi. The eyes themselves are small with not much convexity and the ommatidia are separated from each other by hairs. The antennae are not as robust as other species, with scapes that protrude past the rear borders of the eyes. The mesosoma is slightly shorter than the head length, with a distinct suture line at the pronotum. The petiole node is scale shaped and nearly four times wider than long, double that of other Bradoponera species.
Paratrechina species are most readily recognized by their gracile appearance due to their elongate scapes (first antennal segment), head, tibiae, and mesosoma. S. candelabrum is endemic to the northernmost area of the Northern Territory in Australia and much of its range is within a national park and therefore has been evaluated to be neither rare nor threatened. Its typical habitat is shallow sand associated with sandstone pavements and it appears to prefer areas with higher rainfall.

S. muscicola's native range is concentrated in and around western Kimberley in Western Australia and extends to the northern parts of the Northern Territory and east almost to Queensland. Its typical habitat is a sheltered area along a sandstone ridge in sandy soils that remain moist in the dry seasons.

Solkær has released five photography books. Beat City (2006) documents his earlier work with musicians juxtaposed with cinematic city scapes from across the world whilst his followup, CLOSER (2011), is a hard-cover coffee table book containing 238 pages of portraits of musicians. Both Euprenolepis and Pseudolasius have reduced labial and maxillary palp numbers from the more typical six maxillary and four labial palps observed in other Prenolepis genus-group genera. For Prenolepis the separation of males from Nylanderia is unclear, largely because for the vast majority of Prenolepis species the males are unknown. Separation of the widespread North American Prenolepis imparis from Nylanderia is based on the extremely short scapes (not much longer than the head) that lack macrosetae.
Lordomyrma reticulata can be recognized by the deep and regular reticulating sculpture on the head and mesosoma, which becomes shallower on the gaster both dorsally and ventrally. The clypeus is distinctly rugose and convex, with a pair of strong carinae that converge centrally and diverge anteriorly and posteriorly, forming an hourglass shape. The sculpture of the broadly impressed scrobe and of the forecoxae is finely rugoreticulate. Scapes and legs are shallowly sculptured rather than smooth and shining.
The coloration of both the workers and the males are hard to determine, being either a uniform reddish or dark brown. There are upright standing setae on the gaster, notum, propodeum, head and scapes, but it is hard to determine if fine pubescence is present on the head or antennae. The head is an elongate oval in outline with the rear corners rounded and indistinct. The eyes are small and notably convex while the mandibles have five possible teeth.
Workers of P. tornquisti range between long, with shiny black to red coloration and fine punctation on the whole exoskeleton. The heads have sparse hairs across the mandibles, clypeus and palpi, in addition to hairs sparsely scattered on the gaster. The antennae have scapes longer than the head capsule, with a third of the length past the rear edge of the head. All of the twelve antennae segments are elongate, each being at least twice as long as wide.

The female has antennae possessing 9 segments, three less than seen in B. meieri queens. The antennae have thick scapes that reach just past the rear margins of the eyes. The basal two antenna segments after the scape are both roughly square in outline, while the next five segments are shorter than wide with a rectangular outline.
This species produces 1-18 scapes per plant. Inflorescences are 8–30 cm long and produce pink, mauve, or red flowers that bloom from March to August in their native range. S. semipartitum is endemic to the Kimberley region of Western Australia and northern parts of the Northern Territory. Its typical habitat has been reported as either damp sandy soils in eucalypt woodlands, near creeks in the company of Melaleuca species or on sandstone plateaux with Triodia species.
Allium cyaneum, dark blue garlic, is a Chinese (天蓝韭, tian lan jiu, meaning "sky blue chive") species of onion. It prefers to grow at elevations from 2,100m up to 5,000m on slopes and meadows, and forest edges. It occurs in Gansu, Hubei, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Xizang (Tibet) provinces of China, and possibly in Korea. Its leaves and scapes are edible and are occasionally consumed by local peoples as a spice after drying.

Unlike daylillies, which have a fibrous root system, Liliaceae species grow from bulbs and, if ingested, are harmful to humans and animals. It is a common misconception that daylilies share the toxic properties of true lilies. In 2009, under the APG III system, daylilies were removed from the family Liliaceae and assigned to the family Xanthorrhoeaceae, subfamily Hemerocallidoideae. Xanthorrhoeaceae was renamed Asphodelaceae in AGP IV. Most kinds of daylilies occur as clumps, each of which has leaves, a crown, scapes, flowers, and roots.

The bees have a hind wing length ranging anywhere from 5.5 mm to 5.9 mm, and a hind wing width within the range of 1.35 mm to 1.5 mm. The bees have rust-colored scapes, legs, and cylpeuses, with reddish-tan hair color that covers most of the body. A. nigrocincta has a proboscis characteristic to those of the tribe Apis. The proboscis is characterized by a tube around the glossa formed by the flat galae and basal segments of the labial palpi.
Triodia basedowii, commonly known as lobed spinifex, is species of tussock- forming grass-like plant found in Australia. It occurs on sandy plains and small hills and dunes of bare red sand. Green to purple flowers are displayed from long scapes at any time of the year, emerging from the short and dense foliage growing no more than 1.3 meters high. The associated landscape which it dominates is sometimes favoured as habitat of a pebble mound building mouse species Pseudomys chapmani.
The median area is slightly rectangular, with the front edge flaring a little past the front edges of the lateral sections. along the back edge it is bordered by the two frontal ridges and the antennae sockets. The antennae have widened flat scapes that reach between towards the back of the head, but not past it. The upper end of the scape has an uneven top with a divot possibly for the base of flagellum when it was at rest.
The scapes are 2–30 cm tall and produce single flowers in smaller plants and up to nine flowers in larger, more robust plants. Flowers are pink or white with red spots or lines at the individual petal bases. The petals are vertically paired and will fold over to meet each other at night or in adverse weather conditions. S. calcaratum is endemic to Australia and has a distribution that ranges from Victoria through South Australia and into Western Australia.
This species generally has three to four scapes and cymose inflorescences that are 28–39 cm long. Flowers are white or pink. S. stenophyllum is endemic to the far northeastern Northern Territory of Australia and is only known from the type location. It has only been recorded from one sandstone monolith known as a beehive formation (so named due to its shape) where less than 100 clumps of plants survive at the concentration of about 10 individual plants per clump.

Diplodactylus conspicillatus are oviparous meaning they lay eggs as opposed to giving birth to live young. They breed from September to February and November to March in more northern areas. Little is known about their mating behaviour; however, it is thought cloacal spurs are most likely used to grasp the female during copulation. Gravid females exhibit a marked increase in girth before laying their eggs in shallow scapes of moist sand or on the sand surface beneath fallen trees and other vegetation.
Workers of Leptomyrmex can be easily recognized by elongate antennal scapes which surpass the posterior margin of the head by more than one half their length, a medially notched hypostoma, mandibles with 7–15 teeth and 5–12 denticles, and a laterally located anterior tentorial pit. Queens are known from only seven species. All known macro-Leptomyrmex queens are wingless (ergatoid). They can be differentiated from workers by the presence of ocelli and their larger size, including enlarged mesosoma and gaster.

Although two female castes have not been collected together, they share characteristics unique to the Malagasy Meranoplus and indicate they belong to the same species: comparatively short scapes, widely set clypeal denticles, high oculomandibular indices (OMI), characters of sculpturation, and the striking orange bicoloration. The strong orange and black bicolored coloration of M. cryptomys is notable for its similarity to that of M. mayri. These two species overlap in range across the south and southeast of Madagascar, from Andohahela to Isalo. Males are unknown.
Stylidium perplexum is a species of triggerplant that is endemic to south-west Western Australia. It is a tuberous species that has many stems and has been described as "somewhat shrubby" at 15–40 cm tall. The linear leaves can be 2 cm long and are arranged around the stem in a rosette at the stem apices. The 8–19 cm tall scapes bear 6 to 14 flowers that are white with purple accents and corolla lobes that are laterally paired and 4–6 mm long.
The head has a consistent colour pattern in large workers, with the occiput and vertex appearing brown. Other parts of the head, including the front, genae, and the central region of the clypeus, are either yellowish or yellowish brown. The anterior borders of the genae and mandibles are dark-brown; they also both appear to share the same coloured shade with the occiput. The scapes and funiculi range from being the same colour as the head or shares the same shade with the occiput.
Solitary scapes are produced that bear golden yellow or orange flowers, 7–9 mm across. Its habitat has been reported as being sandy soils on creek margins in the presence of Stylidium rubriscapum and Stylidium diceratum or in river paperbark (Melaleuca leucodendron) stands. S. ceratophorum appears similar to S. diceratum and may be confused with the species since they both have orange flowers. S. ceratophorum's corolla is twice as large as S. diceratum, though, as well as the deeply divided posterior corolla lobes of S. ceratophorum.

Her oeuvre includes much from a redwood forest to city buildings, as well as the earthquake and its effect on architecture, street scapes, fires and prevailing activities amidst the destruction. In 2005, five undiscovered photographs by Edith Irvine were found within a collection in southern California. They were all of San Francisco's 1906 earthquake and fire.
Overwater studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague under John Clayton and had lessons from Dave Holland, Charlie Haden and others. In 1989 he started his first band, Scapes, and received an award from the Stichting Jazz in Nederland for being the most promising musician. In that year he toured with Sunny and David Murray, and in the following years he recorded numerous albums, including A Sanctuary Within (1992). Burton is often referred to as a plein air artist whose body of work focuses largely on natural Canadian landscapes in formidable climates. Yet he was a prolific painter who also enjoyed rendering city scapes and capturing the play of colour, form and light of exterior structures. In fact, arguably the most widely viewed of his paintings today are from his Lebreton Flats series. Lebreton Flats was once a working-class neighbourhood in Ottawa's west end that saw its land expropriated in the 1960s by the Federal government and slated for demolition and urban renewal.
He first exhibited at the 1897 Florentine Promotrice, with "Mattino al Calambrone" (Morning at Calambrone). He began painting sea- and land-scapes using divisionist techniques. He traveled to Liguria where he met the painters, including Lori and Discovolo, who had coalesced around Nomellini and became known as the Gruppo di Albaro, based on the hillside neighborhood where they worked. Returning to Florence, in 1907 he exhibited in a hall at the Promotrice Fiorentina, titled the Secessione (Secession), recalling other prior anti-academic movements such as the Vienna Secession.
Forss, the son of poor alcoholic parents, spent five years of his life living in an orphanage. He became a self-taught photographer after being introduced to photography at the 1964 New York World's Fair. Forss had been taking photographs on the streets of New York City and selling $5 prints since 1973 on the sidewalks outside of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art before being discovered by Life magazine photographer David Duncan in 1980. Forss has photographed city-scapes and time-capsule moments captured in detail using rudimentary equipment extensively.
On the smaller islands of the Southwest Indian Ocean, P. parva can be superficially confused with P. jonas, especially because the minors are relatively similar in their morphologies. The main characters distinguishing both worker castes of these two species are: the relative length of the postpetiole in both castes; the scapes of the workers of P. parva are distinctly shorter than those of P. jonas; and the heads of majors are distinctly longer than wide in P. parva, versus on average as long as wide in P. jonas.

Richard "Dicky" Barrett (1807–1847) was one of the first European traders to be based in New Zealand. He lent his translation skills to help negotiate the first land purchases from Maori in New Plymouth and Wellington and became a key figure in the establishment of the settlement of New Plymouth. He was described by Edward Jerningham Wakefield, son of New Zealand Company founder Edward Gibbon Wakefield, as short, stout and "perfectly round all over" and fond of relating "wild adventures and hairbreadth 'scapes".Edward Jerningham Wakefield, "Adventures in New Zealand", Vol 1, 1845.
From the rootstock also develop one or few initially woolly hairy, mostly dark reddish inforescence stems (or scapes) with one to eight small bracts. These are mostly unbranched but may have up to eight branches in the upper half. Magnus, his and Gold Key's best-known heroic-adventure series, was set in the year 4000, which Manning depicted as clean, airy city scapes populated by shiny robots, handsome men, and beautiful women. A woody perennial, S. simplex can grow as a shrub or as suckering herb with short-lived stems arising from a perennial rootstock. Stems may be up to ten centimetres long, and the plant as a whole grows to a height of from ten to 60 centimetres, rarely to one metre. It has soft leaves that bifurcate repeatedly into lobes, with the final lobes measuring from two to twenty millimetres long. Flowers are cream or yellow, and occur in dense heads from ten to 15 millimetres in diameter, atop scapes up to 60 centimetres tall.
In comparison, Mécanosphère is a rather generous recording factory. Their 2003 self-titled debut album (released on Portuguese Hip Hop label Loop:Recordings) is a straightforward rhythms-bass-voice record. The 2004 "Bailarina" album (Independent Records), explores a more labyrinth-like territory, where heavy bass down tempo breaks, electro-acoustic sounds, hardcore, tribalism, apocalyptic drum and bass and abstract jazz scapes fusion with the deep throat, menacing narrative of Adolfo Luxúria Cannibal.

This species produces 1-2 scapes per plant that are glabrous. Inflorescences are 10–25 cm long and produce pink flowers that bloom year-round in their native range. S. debile's historical distribution included a range on the Atherton Tableland, at Mt Playfair near Tambo, Queensland, and as far south as Alexandria Swamps in Sydney, though it is probably extinct in these locations due to extensive habitat modification. More recent herbarium collections relate a distribution from Blackdown Tableland and Deepwater National Park in Queensland south to the area around Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.
Allium fistulosum, the Welsh onion, also commonly called bunching onion, long green onion, Japanese bunching onion, and spring onion, is a species of perennial plant, often considered to be a kind of scallion. The species is very similar in taste and odor to the related common onion, Allium cepa, and hybrids between the two (tree onions) exist. A. fistulosum, however, does not develop bulbs, and possesses hollow leaves (fistulosum means "hollow") and scapes. Larger varieties of the A. fistulosum resemble the leek, such as the Japanese negi, whilst smaller varieties resemble chives.
During and after World War II Sudek created haunting night-scapes and panoramas of Prague, photographed the wooded landscape of Bohemia, and the window-glass that led to his garden (the famous The Window of My Atelier series). He went on to photograph the crowded interior of his studio (the Labyrinths series). He first showed his work in "Five Photographers" at the Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska/Lincoln in 1968. Then he showed at the George Eastman House in 1974 and he published 16 books during his life.
The flowers are held singly on smooth stems above the basal rosette of leaves The deeply lobed leaves of this tap-rooted perennial plant form a basal rosette from which the long, slightly downy, unbranched hollow scapes (flower stalks) rise to around 40 cm (1 ft 4in). It blooms once a year, usually in spring (March to May) but sometimes in late autumn. Each scape bears a single flower-head consisting of many small, white ray florets, opening from a rounded bud consisting of narrow green bracts. The flowers are hermaphrodite and self-fertile.

Joubert Park today is an account of Johannesburg as a city in transition. The park is fed by a network of (in-)formal activities, such as the establishment of the chess club, community facilities (aftercare; clinic), a broad field of trade and services all weaved together by the people. The users of the park have designated areas of activity, which is respected by one and all within the park.
Since seeds are not generally gathered from elephant garlic, this is the best use of resources and helps the bulb, though it does detract from the aesthetic value. A few scapes can be left to mature into stalks to flower. Like regular garlic, elephant garlic can be roasted whole on the grill or baked in the oven, then used as a spread with butter on toast. Fresh elephant garlic contains mostly moisture and foams up like boiling potatoes, whether on the stove or in a glass dish in the oven.

The antennae have notably long scapes that extend past the rear margin of the head capsule. The first funicular segments of the antennae are 3/4 the length of the second segment.
In the Fight of the Paso del Mar, he threw the dust of metals into wet, black pigment and sprayed them with sea water and rain to allow the metals to rust and turn colors. He named them for his favorite surf breaks along the California coast. In Dreamland, he poured paint on the floor and printed it onto linen, building up atmospheric scapes with the names of atomic bomb tests. He showed his Fight of the Paso del Mar and Dreamland paintings at Bankrobber London in 2013.
John Button (1929–12 December 1982) was an American artist, well known for his city-scapes. Educated at the University of California, Berkeley then moved to New York City in the early 1950s. He became friends with Fairfield Porter and Frank O'Hara and assumed his part in the New York School of Painters and Poets. Amidst the frenzy of Abstract Expressionism, Button remained true to his interest in realism, and is now most commonly associated with such New York School artists as Fairfield Porter, Jane Freilicher, and Alex Katz.
Barandal (officially, Barangay Barandal) is an industrial barangay of the city of Calamba in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It is geographically situated in the middle of the city. In Real Life, released in the Netherlands as Het echte leven, is a 2008 Dutch drama film that was written and directed by Robert Jan Westdijk. The film had its premiere at the Netherlands Film Festival on 25 September 2008 and was released on DVD the following year. The film stars Ramsey Nasr as a film director who decides to test his girlfriend's love for him. The movie's soundtrack was composed by Michel Banabila and Eric Vloeimans, and features songs from their album VoizNoiz 3 - Urban Jazz Scapes.
The 20–50 cm long erect inflorescences are produced from the center of the floating whorl and are usually solitary or possess very few scapes for each whorl. An individual plant can produce several whorls and inflorescences, but they are typically distant from each other. The inflorescences produce 9-14 (sometimes 4-17) flowers with unequal calyx lobes, 3–5 mm long. The entire corolla can be 2-2.5 cm long and is bright yellow with brown-colored veins on the spur and brown markings on the lower corolla lobe.
The group is known exclusively from impression fossils, which have a limited preservation quality, leading to the uncertainty of what features are present in the described species. Overall armaniids have a poorly developed petiole which is broadly attached to the thorax, short scapes on the antennae, and queen-like looking females. The mandibles are vespid like, with possibly only one or two teeth, though this may be an artifact of preservation. The short scape is a feature that is also seen in Sphecomyrminae members, and does not exclude armaniids from Formicidae.
Although his wife occupied the focus of the majority of his works (around 75% of his oeuvre), Wouters occasionally painted other people and places of particular interest to him. His other muses included natural scapes from his local area (such as trees in the garden or a vase of flowers on the table) or close friends (such as his friend and fellow sculptor, Ernest Wijnants). Smart's unsentimental paintings encompass lonely urban vistas that seem both disturbing and threatening. Isolated individuals seem lost in industrial wastelands, full of high rise construction, concrete street-scapes and an eerie feeling of harmony and equilibrium – where silence and stillness create a deathly ambience. 'The express rape of the landscape' is one title hanging over Smart's paintings, referring to the freeways, street signs, trucks, oil drums, containers, buildings and concrete dividers that are the ever-present subjects of his work. At the same time his paintings – full of bold colours and perfect symmetry – are beautiful.
Mairia robusta is a tufted, white-woolly, perennial, herbaceous plant of up to high, that is assigned to the daisy family. It has large, robust, hard and leathery leaves, with a white woolly hairy, nontransparent underside, while the felty hairs on the top are lost with age. Only at a few occasions, flowers have been observed, in June, October and December, always after a fire. The flower heads sit individually at the at tip of white-woolly scapes, with 14–16 purplish pink to white ray florets surrounding a yellow disc.
Building rules introduced in 1838 required party walls to be raised above the roofline, which helped define the Sydney style and skyline of Many of Sydney's terraces have been subjected to gentrification, such as these in Glebe terraced suburbs. The terraces often lack a parapet and feature high- pitched roof with dormer windows and attics to make use of the roof space. Sydney terraces were often built right up to the property line; Sydney's narrow streets also make for more intimate street scapes where terraced. As housing developed in Australia, verandas became important as a way of shading the house.

His art was loved because in his paintings the people, the sky, the buildings, the clouds and the backgrounds joined harmoniously together in which the seagulls floated through.

Walter Frederick OsborneHe appears as "Frederick" in records until around 1884 (17 June 1859 - 24 April 1903) was an Irish impressionist and Post- Impressionism landscape and portrait painter, best known for his documentary depictions of late 19th century working class life. Most of his paintings are figurative and focus on women, children, the elderly, the poor, and the day- to-day life of ordinary people on Dublin streets, as well as series of rural scenes. He also produced city-scapes, which he painted from both sketches and photographs. A prolific artist, he produced oils, watercolours, and numerous pencil sketches.
In "How We Got into Town and Out Again," Gloria and Lewis are virtual reality vendors in a bleak future where the United States may have disintegrated into balkanised jurisdictions, protected by civilian militia, as in the small town that the pair visit during this short story. Tetramorium insolens is a species of ant in the genus Tetramorium. It is a medium-sized orange ant that is mainly seen on vegetation, has a monomorphic work caste with 12-segmented antennae, three-segmented antennal club, short antennal scapes that do not surpass the posterior margin of the head, a gradually sloped mesosoma, and strong propodeal spines. It has two waist segments and a gaster with a stinger. The species lives primarily and natively in the Pacific Island region, with an invasive and non-native yet established presence recorded in Austria, Hungary, France, and the Netherlands.

There are, however, several species where the mesosoma is more elongated, superficially resembling Paratrechina longicornis. Long erect macrosetae are almost never found on the dorsal face of the propodeum, with one known exception. However, species with an elongated mesosoma or short propodeal macrosetae do possess six mandibular teeth, erect macrosetae on the scapes and legs, and paired erect macrosetae on the pronotum and mesonotum which support their placement within Nylanderia based on the definition of the genus proposed above. Additionally, when macrosetae are present on the propodeum, they show a pattern generally similar to that found on the pronotum and mesonotum of Nylanderia, with the macrosetae being numerous and of varying lengths.
