Boys' golf teams may compete in grass green (traditional) or sand green competition. Girls who attend schools without golf, tennis, and soccer teams are allowed to play on the boys' teams at the school.

Anita Baldwin sold the land to the County of Los Angeles for $92,000 in 1918. A sand green golf course appeared following the closure of the school and Arcadia citizens took it over and operated it as a highly successful club.

Hilltop Golf Course is a nine-hole sand green course located on the east side of the lake. The remainder of the park amenities are located on the west side of the water. Over the years a tennis court, bonfire pits, electrified campsites and a beach volleyball court have been added.

Lonnie Dean Nielsen (born June 29, 1953) is an American professional golfer. Nielsen was born and raised in Belle Plaine, Iowa. His father started him in golf as a youngster on the sand green courses in and around his hometown. He attended the University of Iowa, where earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1976.

The town has a 9-hole golf course named the Stavely Golf Club. It was one of the few remaining sand green golf courses in Canada until the sand greens were recently converted to artificial greens. Other recreation venues and facilities include an arena, archery lanes, a recreational vehicle campground, a ball diamond and parks. Stavely is also home to a museum.

Triodia basedowii, commonly known as lobed spinifex, is species of tussock- forming grass-like plant found in Australia. It occurs on sandy plains and small hills and dunes of bare red sand. Green to purple flowers are displayed from long scapes at any time of the year, emerging from the short and dense foliage growing no more than 1.3 meters high. The associated landscape which it dominates is sometimes favoured as habitat of a pebble mound building mouse species Pseudomys chapmani.

It is an eroded dome, in diameter, exposing sedimentary rock in layers which appear as concentric rings. Igneous rock is exposed inside and there are spectacular rhyolites and gabbros which have undergone hydrothermal alteration and a central megabreccia.

Conduit car No. 4 The Blackpool Tramway officially opened on the 29 September 1885 with an initial fleet of 10 trams. The first eight were double-deck open top trams that operated on the conduit system, whilst the ninth and tenth cars were single-deck crossbench trailers which could be hauled by any of the first eight trams. The original fleet livery was a mix of sand, green and white colours. The trams were built in various conditions. Nos. 1 and 2 were built by Starbuck, with 48 seats and a garden seating arrangement on the upper decks. Nos. 3 and 4 were built by Lancaster Carriage and Wagon Works, with 32 seats and a knifeboard seating arrangement on the upper decks. Nos.

609–612 In the spring of 1970, Kemoca Regional Park was ready to open. At that time, the park contained: six non-electrical campsites, a swimming pool (with an old school house being used for the change room), a nine-hole sand green golf course (with an unused school house for a clubhouse), four softball diamonds, one baseball diamond, and a 400-metre track with a concrete curb. The main adversities that faced the construction of the park were the lack of certainty in funding and a fire that ravaged the park in 1984. The fire came at a time where the provincial government was doubtful of the status of the park as a Regional Park because of its proximity to Montmartre.

The history of Royal Canberra Golf Club, or its predecessors, is almost as long as the history of the national capital itself. The foundation stone for the city was laid in 1913 and in that same year, a few golfing enthusiasts established a nine-hole course on a site near to, what is now the city centre. Subsequently, in 1922, those stalwarts domiciled themselves on a new nine hole, sand green layout at Acton, sharing space with the Acton racecourse and leading to problem lies through omni-present hoof marks on the fairways. Things took a turn for the better, however, when in 1926, the Federal Capital Commission constructed a new golf course on an adjacent site at Acton, where the Canberra Golf Club had its first real home.

A turn-of-the-century, two-storey colonial style hotel, the Nandewar Inn Hotel, constructed in 1902, was a well-loved local landmark until it was destroyed by fire in April 2006. Once a thriving rural center, Bellata, in the early to mid-20th century, boasted a post office, two general stores, two stock and station agencies, two garages, a café, a telephone exchange, a fully operational railway station with a station master and a doctor. Bellata still has a road house, a police station with holding cell, primary school, nine-hole sand green golf course and Golf Club, tennis courts, Anglican and Catholic churches, a memorial hall where movies were once shown, caravan park and several community groups. Woolabra Post Office opened on 1 September 1899 and was renamed Bellata in 1909.
