Those navigating on paths may include pedestrians, golf carts or other small transport, bikes, scooters, roller skates/blades, Segways, hoverboards, and/or whatever new mobility thing gets released in the next year that people will be using—as well as other delivery robots, perhaps from other vendors with other navigation algorithms that are incompatible.

Just about every big fight in the movie is choreographed and staged in the most interesting way possible: pink and blue smoke fills the air, a grenade launcher fires glitter bombs, there's a car chase on roller skates, and the movie's biggest brawl is a big game of keep-away on a merry-go-round.

At something of a loss for an evaluation matrix for these prizewinning designs, and determined the best metric for the marriage of form and function would be how well I was able to incorporate them into my workout on roller skates, so I strapped in and headed to town on an absurdly beautiful late-summer day.

Standout acts include Nicole Faubert and Guillaume Paquin in a romantic aerial duet that's both highly polished and strikingly human (acrobatic choreography is by Edesia Moreno); Katharine Arnold, nearly contortionistic in an aerial number with a cart; and, in the kind of almost ice-dancing number that ideally there would be more of in a winter show, Rosie Axon and Adam Jukes, twirling thrillingly fast on in-line roller skates.

This is the time of roller skates and stilts and tricycles, and games in the lee of the stoop with bottletops and plastic cowboys; this is the time of bundles and packages, zigzagging from the drug store to the fruit stand and back over to the butcher's; this is the time when teen-agers, all dressed up, are pausing to ask if their slips show or their collars look right; this is the time when beautiful girls get out of MG's; this is the time when fire engines go through; this is the time when anybody you know around Hudson Street will go by.
