Kayley uses the thorn bushed creatures to hold Ruber and his men captive, and escorts Garrett into a remote cave where the magic of the forest heals Garrett's wounds. Whilst in the cave, Kayley and Garrett begin to fall in love. The group goes into a giant cave where a rock-like ogre holds Excalibur, using it as a toothpick. Kayley succeeds in retrieving Excalibur and they escape before Ruber can get to it.
The color and type of rock-like appearance can be specified to match the surrounding landscape. Accropode II (2004) In 1999, Sogreah modified the original Accropode shape by chipping away excess materials and adding friction features in the form of small pyramids. A patent application was filed for this modified shape. In 2004 further modifications to the 1999 shape were made, resulting in the Accropode II. The shape modifications are intended to increase interlocking.
Fatberg is a compound of the words fat and berg, after iceberg. The word was used in 2008 to describe "large, rock-like lumps of cooking fat" washing up on beaches in Wales, and by 2010 was used in reference to sewer-blocking fat deposits in London. The word was added to Oxford Dictionaries Online in 2015. The term is used by authorities at Thames Water and South West Water, both in southern England.
Peter's Rock, like much of the Metacomet Ridge, is composed of basalt, also called traprock, a volcanic rock. The mountain formed near the end of the Triassic Period with the rifting apart of the North American continent from Africa and Eurasia. Lava welled up from the rift and solidified into sheets of strata hundreds of feet thick. Subsequent faulting and earthquake activity tilted the strata, creating the cliffs and ridgeline of Peter's Rock.
At the edge of Lake Clifton, rock-like structures called thrombolites can be seen, built by tiny microorganisms believed to resemble the earliest forms of life on Earth. Scientists have suggested their presence here may be due to upwellings of fresh groundwater high in calcium carbonate. An observation walkway has been constructed to allow visitors to view these fragile structures. Preston Beach is known for the town's abundance of Western Grey Kangaroo.
The Thing's primary superhuman power is his great physical strength. Over the years, as a result of further mutation and rigorous training on machines designed by Reed Richards, his strength has increased dramatically. He is capable of surviving impacts of great force without sustaining injury, as his body is covered with an orange, flexible, rock-like hide. He is also able to withstand gunfire from high-caliber weapons as well as armor-piercing rounds.
The guns were equipped with gun computers and laser range- finders, and some of the turrets also with night-vision systems. The electrical systems were replaced using western components and the guns and gun positions were overhauled. Externally the most visible change was new thermal insulation dome on top the turrets that also gives them a more rock-like appearance for camouflage. The ammunition for the guns has not fulfilled all the expectation.
Uluru (, ), also known as Ayers Rock (, like airs) and officially gazetted as UluruAyers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It lies south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs. Uluru is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area, known as Anangu. The area around the formation is home to an abundance of springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings.
This section was built last while these concerns were addressed. This area is also notable for the deep, gorge- like cuts into the rock, like between the Silver Comet Trail and Concord Road overpasses.photos Built before the extension of Barrett Parkway, part of the eastward extension of this roadway was derived from an extended portion of Fontaine Road. The point where the two meet is now a trailhead for the Silver Comet Trail.
The inspiration of the German folk-rock does not stem from old German music only, but from a variety of other sources such as France, Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland and Sweden. Faun has introduced music from even a wider range of countries. Some German folk-rock bands play Scottish and Irish folk-rock, like The Dolmen and Fiddlers Green (folk-punk). German folk-rock has nothing to do with Schlagers music or traditional brass band music.
The band incorporated genres such as Goth Rock (like their influences such as the Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus), Psychedelia, Punk rock and Glam rock. The group described their music as "Psychedelic Death Rock". They were noted for their live shows for performing a different cover song (with one exception) in every live show they made. They have performed a cover of Iron Butterfly's In-A- Gadda-Da-Vida in one of their live shows.
Pinnacle Rock, like much of the Metacomet Ridge, is composed of basalt, also called traprock, a volcanic rock. The mountain formed near the end of the Triassic Period with the rifting apart of the North American continent from Africa and Eurasia. Lava welled up from the rift and solidified into sheets of strata hundreds of feet thick. Subsequent faulting and earthquake activity tilted the strata, creating the cliffs and ridgeline of Pinnacle Rock.
CDJournal reviewers called the song addictive, praising Sheena's lyricism and the "jazz taste sound". They described the song as "jazz kayō", and noted the melody was distinctly Sheena-like. They described the B-side "La salle de bain" as a "spectacle tune" from a fantastic film, and praised how the sound interacted with Sheena's vocals, noting how over- orchestration did not drown out the song. They noted progressive rock-like qualities in the song.
About 10,000 years ago, peaceful aliens from the planet Antarea set up an outpost on Earth on Atlantis. When Atlantis sank, twenty aliens were left behind, kept alive in large rock-like cocoons at the bottom of the ocean. Now, a group of Antareans have returned to collect them. Disguising themselves as humans, they rent a house with a swimming pool and charge the water with "life force" to give the cocooned Antareans energy to survive the trip home.
The genre is related to, and similar to, goregrind, but minor differences from goregrind include pornogrind having simpler, slower, and more rock-like songs as well as the genre's pornographic theme present in lyrics and album artwork, which "would keep them out of most stores." Zero Tolerance described pornogrind as "the most downright perverted of the lot, often adding a dollop of filthy groove and vocals straight from the toilet.""Grind Prix" (2005). Zero Tolerance #004, p. 46.
Heinlein also postulated that the surface of Ganymede was volcanic rock like the Moon. Subsequent discoveries have shown that Ganymede's crust is actually almost 90 percent ice or frost, covering a subsurface ocean. The novel refers to the "Space Patrol", the interplanetary peace-keeping organization described in Space Cadet. Because it was originally written to be serialized in the Boy Scout magazine Boys' Life, Bill Lermer's participation in the Scouts is pervasive, mentioned at least once per chapter.
On Edge Media Network, Melissa Bourgeois wrote, "The L Word Season 3 Soundtrack ranges from sultry jazz and lounge, to high energy dance and rock. Like in the show, girrrls dominate on this soundtrack, leaving D'Angelo to be the lone male rep, swimming in a sea of estrogen.... Overall, go for it. Both well-known and lesser-known artists are represented, most likely giving you the opportunity to tread new waters."Bourgeois, Melissa (January 24, 2006).
Hyraceum () is the petrified and rock-like excrement composed of both urine and feces excreted by the Cape hyrax (Procavia capensis, also referred to as the rock hyrax or dassie). The rock hyrax defecates in the same location over generations, which may be sheltered in caves. These locations form middens that are composed of hyraceum and hyrax pellets, which can be petrified and preserved for over 50,000 years. These middens form a record of past climate and vegetation.
The bands listed below, though often associated with garage rock, are also associated with other genres such as acid rock, psychedelia, blues rock, power pop, 1970s punk rock, hard rock, bubblegum, glam, prog rock, art rock or even heavy metal. Many British bands between 1965–1968 have been retrospectively referred to as "Freakbeat" and between 1974-1979 as pub rock. Like garage rock, much of the music made by acts such as these has been characterized as proto-punk.
A lot of the bands here used to be good until they turned to more pop rock. Like when I was a punk (when I was young), I used to see the Buzzcocks live. It was great." When the Exploited were at Amnesia Rockfest, Buchan, during an interview, criticized the other bands at the music festival, saying: "Well, here at Rockfest, you got a lot of bands that define themselves as punk bands but they're shit.
Like all Kronans, Korg possesses a body made of a durable, silicon-based substance that grants him protection against nearly all forms of physical harm and gives him a rock- like appearance. In oxygen-rich atmospheres, Korg also possesses vast super strength almost comparable to Thing. His mineral state also grants him an extremely prolonged lifespan. When fighting as a gladiator, he mostly relied on his physical power and extremely durable form, rather than actual fighting skills.
The hut is located at 2,303 m above sea level, at the north foot of the Wildhorn near the Iffigsee. The Wildhornhütte is intended as accommodation before the last stage of the Wildhorn ascent. Since 1878 there has been a modest refuge under overhanging rocks "by the Crooked Waters" that stuck to the rock like a swallow's nest. In 1899, the Moléson Section of the SAC built a detached wooden hut opposite the old club hut.
This beach is sandy with stony parts in between. The east coast of Djursland has been a source of lime extraction for at least 150 years.[Djurslands Kalk, Børge Kjær, 2001] In part as rock like blocks taken from heavily cracked but massive underground formations that are close to the surface on eastern Djursland. This is visible in the form of the Sangstrup- and Karlby lime cliffs, with a wall of lime down to the sea.
The houses inside the castros are about 3.5 to 5 meters long, mostly circular with some rectangular, stone-made and with thatch roofs which rested on a wood column in the centre of the building. Their streets are somewhat regular, suggesting some form of central organization. The towns built by the Arévacos were related to Iberian culture, and some of them reached notable urban development like Numantia. Others were more primitive and usually excavated into the rock, like Termantia.
According to a number of early Arab historians, the Dome of the Chain was used as a model for the Dome of the Rock. Like the latter, the Dome of the Chain consists of two concentric polygons, with columns bound together by arcades and wooden beams. The Dome of the Rock is three times the size of the Dome of the Chain and the ground plan and height are relatively proportional.Conder, Claude Reignier and Palestine Exploration Fund. (1887).
Amenities include picnic pavilions, nature trails, a fishing pier, a boat ramp, bike trails and beaches. The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown year round. The coastal landscape and beach at Big Talbot Island is unique within the state of Florida for its rock-like sedimentary hardpan soil deposits underlying the surface. Where these formations are exposed in the shallow waters surrounded the island they provide habitat for molluscs, crabs, oysters, and other tide pool creatures.
Annie was the main songwriter of the group and the only one who played an instrument (piano). Her admittedly unschooled compositional style, with its frequent irregular rhythms, added somewhat progressive rock-like elements to what was otherwise a soft-rock sound. Matthew and Nelly initially made the occasional small contribution to the lyrics, and Matthew developed as a songwriter for the group as his solo career grew. Annie and Matthew sang most of the solo parts.
During the verses, it features a "part rap, part singing" delivery by member Nadine Coyle. The third track of the album, "Sexy! No No No..."—which was released as the record's lead single—was described as one of their most "daring" single releases. Incorporating instrumentation such as synthesizers, keyboards and vocoder pro-tools for Cheryl's vocals at the first part of the recording, it is an experimental power pop anthem that emphasizes a rock-like sound over-top accompanying electronic music.
Robi's lawyer prevented them from using his song. Also, the group was dropped from RCA International due to low record sales, so they signed a contract with Melody International Mexico. Charlie was asked to return to the group to complete the Brazilian tour and to embark on the Summer in the Street U.S. tour and introduce new member Rubén Gómez 14. At this point, the group underwent a complete image makeover, changing their look to a rougher, more rugged, rock- like look.
Rock Number 59 on display at the British Museum in 2008 His style concentrates primarily on abstract forms, which he calls floating stones, which are large, highly textured rock- like pieces coated in chrome. They are also called mountain or scholar's rocks.Zhan Wang Wang refers to the series, which he began creating in 1995, as Artificial Jiashanshi. The Lifeboat Monument, St Annes, stands on South Promenade, St Annes, Fylde, Lancashire, England. It commemorates the death of 13 lifeboatmen from St Annes who were lost in the attempt to rescue the crew of the German barque Mexico that had been driven into a sandbank in a gale in December 1886. The lifeboat from Southport also lost 14 of its 16 man crew in the disaster. The monument depicts a lifeboatman looking out to sea and standing on a rock-like plinth.

Disorder Magazine (2007) Friendly Fires covering songs by Green Day and other rock-like artists, which existed until they began university. During this time, lead singer Ed Macfarlane released his own music (under his own name) through the electronica label Skam, and Precinct Recordings.
Clear◊White◊Whistle, described as a Flouwen trying to "invent" physics and astronomy, discovers this technique, and later teaches the others. Flouwen are also capable of morphing themselves into a hard, rock-like substance when they feel the need to think about a difficult problem for an extended period. They do this by excreting much of their body water, thereby bringing their silica-gel-based cells closer together, which allows quicker processing of information. Flouwen can grow quite large over time.
Frank Lenz started taking drum lessons when he was eight years old. A natural, he was soon working as a session musician. After playing with several indie bands, Lenz developed his original work as a solo musician, mixing the pop of Burt Bacharach with power rock like Steely Dan, jazz fusion, and Stevie Wonder-style R&B.; "Playing drums is all I ever wanted to do," Lenz has said, and by the age of 13, he began his career as studio drummer.
Eventually, Lonnie made a break-in at the Spaulding Chemical Plant to contact Robbie. While there, it was revealed that Lonnie wanted to frame Robbie to get his revenge for abandoning him back at the grocery store. After Lonnie fell into the vat of chemicals by accident, Robbie decided to stay behind to face the consequences to think about abandoning Lonnie at the grocery store. After the fall, Lonnie's skin turned white, his hair yellow, and his flesh tough and rock-like.
The multi-step process that allowed for the preservation of the sand impressions included multiple layers of sediment drying and hardening before it could be impacted by wind erosion or water. Engravings or prints were usually left on wet sand, and eventually covered by dry sediment and left untouched. As more sediment piles onto the imprints or engravings, over time, it becomes compressed and hardens into a rock-like substance. The natural process protects the impressions and allows them to remain preserved as fossils over time.
The musicologist Julian Mincham describes the vocal line: > The initial bars of melody are warm and quietly authoritative, but at the > mention of dwelling with Him the movement takes on a very different > character. The bass line becomes enlivened with little leaps of delight ... > The singer's last note is a bottom d (c in the transposed version) several > notes lower than a bass's accepted range. ... when achieved it is an > arresting sound, confirming the rock-like certainty of the promise that we > shall eventually reside with God.
Xavin, being a Skrull, has the Skrull natural ability to shapeshift. Xavin was a Super-Skrull in training, meaning they can manifest the powers of the Fantastic Four: Mr. Fantastic's ability to stretch and contort his body into any shape imaginable, Invisible Woman's power to render herself invisible and the ability to create force fields, the Human Torch's fire-control and flight and the Thing's superhuman strength and resistant rock-like hide. The Super-Skrull K'lrt is one of Xavin's idols.Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways.
Lydie and Charly were already playing together in a cover band. At first, Lydie was supposed to record some backing vocals for the band, but after the sudden departure of the former singer, Charly had the concept of having two singers. The pop/rock-like singing of Marc contrasts with the pure, clean and sensual female voice of Lydie Robin, creating a fantastic blend of aggressive and melodic vocal duet lines. Kevin Codfert (Adagio) was invited to share the keyboards parts with Charly on the record.
Once, he uses a magical rock like a floating high speed weapon, slamming through enemies like a bullet under his mental direction. He also has three shapechanging servants he calls his 'familiars', who he liberates from the evil cult; they are physically very powerful. Apparently, he can also bring dead people back to life by sacrificing some of the 20 souls that constitute him. He also becomes the magical overseer of Gotham (confusingly called The Mayor), who controls the flow of supernatural creatures into the city.
At the edge of Lake Clifton, rock-like structures called thrombolites (similar to stromatolites) can be seen, built by tiny micro-organisms believed to resemble the earliest forms of life on Earth. Scientists have suggested their presence here may be due to upwellings of fresh groundwater high in calcium carbonate. An observation walkway has been constructed to allow visitors to view these fragile structures. An action has been started by the French artists "Art Orienté objet" in 2011 to list Lake Clifton as a World Heritage Site.
A human is transformed into a manifestation of Garokk by the mutagenic effects of liquid from the fiery underground pool in the Savage Land. Garokk's skin and much, perhaps all, of his body tissue are transformed into organic, stone-like substances, giving him gray skin that seems rock-like and "petrified" in appearance. He has superhuman stamina and his petrified body also makes him difficult to injure. Garokk has the ability to project tremendous amounts of heat, light, and concussive force from his eyes.
Puy de Montjuger and Puy de Pourcharet, Puy-de-Dôme, France. Puy () is a geological term used locally in the Auvergne, France for a volcanic hill. The word derives from the Provençal puech, meaning an isolated hill, coming from Latin podium, which has given also puig in Catalan, poggio in Italian, poio in Galician and Portuguese. Most of the puys of central France are small cinder cones, with or without associated lava, whilst others are domes of trachytic rock, like the of the Puy-de-Dôme.
Immediately following the European tour's conclusion, the band began writing new material for their second album, sometimes jamming for inspiration. The group went to Memphis, Tennessee and recorded the album, titled Nothing Feels Good, at Easley McCain Recording with producer J. Robbins of Jawbox. The group opted for a cleaner, more pop- oriented sound with the help of Robbins, which contrasted 30° Everywhere and the punk rock-like approach Bohlen used in Cap'n Jazz. The relationship between Didier and Beschta throughout the sessions progressively deteriorated.
This pulls the oil up and spins it, allowing air to set and dry the oil, and allows the maker to roll the oil into the rock-like shape. Crack vaporizes near temperature 90 °C (194 °F), much lower than the cocaine hydrochloride melting point of 190 °C (374 °F). Whereas cocaine hydrochloride cannot be smoked (burns with no effect), crack cocaine when smoked allows for quick absorption into the blood stream, and reaches the brain in eight seconds. Crack cocaine can also be injected intravenously with the same effect as powder cocaine.
After a few adventures together, Don Quixote and Sancho discover a bag full of gold coins along with some papers, which include a sonnet describing the poet's romantic troubles. Don Quixote and Sancho search for the person to whom the gold and the papers belong. They find him; it is Cardenio, a strange bare-footed character who leaps about from rock to rock like a mountain goat and whose clothes are in shreds. Cardenio, who lives in the hollow formed in a cork tree, rants and rages in anger regarding one Don Fernando.
The granite mass that is now Fairway Rock, like the larger nearby Diomede Islands, is the remnant of an earlier era of glaciation. Fairway Rock is situated 12 mi (19 km) SSE of Little Diomede Island and 20 mi (32 km) W of Cape Prince of Wales, at . The island is variously reported as from 300 m to 1.5 km in length. Rising steeply from the surrounding waters to above sea level, Fairway Rock can be easily seen from the mainland coast of Alaska at Cape Prince of Wales.
And Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; my strength is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation. “No one is holy like the Lord, for there is none besides You, nor is there any rock like our God. “Talk no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for the Lord is the God of knowledge; and by Him actions are weighed. “The bows of the mighty men are broken, and those who stumbled are girded with strength.
Pots usually have vertical sides, so that the tree's root mass can easily be removed for inspection, pruning, and replanting, although this is a practical consideration and other container shapes are acceptable. There are alternatives to the conventional ceramic pot. Multi-tree bonsai may be created atop a fairly flat slab of rock, with the soil mounded above the rock surface and the trees planted within the raised soil. In recent times, bonsai creators have also begun to fabricate rock-like slabs from raw materials including concrete and glass-reinforced plastic.
Gass has described Tenacious D's comic assertion that they are the best band as being "ridiculous because it's a matter of opinion". Black characterizes Tenacious D's comic nature as an antidote to "the masculinity of rock", adding "There's also something funny about the macho-ness of rock. Like the bands that are the fucking hardest rocking are like, 'We'll fucking kick your ass, dude... with our rock.'" Russell Brand, All Shall Perish, The Lonely Island, and Kanye West have in turn been influenced by the work of Tenacious D.
The material hardens and ages until it becomes a fairly sterile, rock-like material (also referred to as "Africa Stone") that contains compounds giving it an animalic, deeply complex fermented scent that combines the elements of musk, castoreum, civet, tobacco and agarwood. The material is harvested without disturbing the animals by digging strata of the brittle, resinous, irregular, blackish-brown stone; because animals are not harmed in its harvesting, it is often an ethical substitute for deer musk and civet, which require killing or inflicting pain on the animal.
In It to Win It is the first full-length album by American punk rock band City Lights, released on November 8, 2011. It was InVogue Records first release to land on any Billboard chart, having debuted at number 29 on Alternative New Artist and 117 on Top New Artist. The album was recorded and produced by Nick Ingram at Capital House Records in Galena, Ohio. The band went through a number of line-up changes between their first EP Rock Like a Party Star and the recording of this album.

The reviewer for The New York Times wrote that the novel "exhibited the same craftsmanship that distinguished [Ardrey's] writing for the theater." He also drew a connection between the novel and Ardrey's most famous theatrical work, Thunder Rock. > Like his play, Thunder Rock (which was produced in both New York and London, > and, somehow, never quite attracted the attention it deserved), The > Brotherhood of Fear is first and last an allegory for our time. The novel touched on many themes that would continue to be important in Ardrey's work.
The following year, the word "Video" was removed from all genre categories at the VMAs (despite nominations still going to specific videos), giving this award its current name: Best Rock. Like all other genre categories at the VMAs, this category was retired briefly in , when the VMAs were revamped and most original categories were eliminated. In 2008, though, MTV brought back this award, along with several of the others that were retired in 2007. Aerosmith is the most frequent winner of this award, with a total of four wins between 1990 and 1998.
Mostly Bears were an indie rock group from Tucson, Arizona. Their music is a difficult to categorize fusion between alternative, progressive and newer indie rock, like "Radiohead circa 1996 getting in a gang-fight with Arcade Fire.""Sonic Bloom: Mostly Bears" , Arizona Daily Wildcat, July 18, 2007 The band began playing at parties and locally in Tucson before releasing Only Child, a four-song EP in July 2007. The album was well received by local press and has begun to attract a following on college campuses from coast to coast.
Some researchers suggested that these microscopic structures on the Martian ALH84001 meteorite could be fossilized bacteria.Another possible biosignature might be morphology since the shape and size of certain objects may potentially indicate the presence of past or present life. For example, microscopic magnetite crystals in the Martian meteorite ALH84001 are one of the longest-debated of several potential biosignatures in that specimen. The possible biomineral studied in the Martian ALH84001 meteorite includes putative microbial fossils, tiny rock-like structures whose shape was a potential biosignature because it resembled known bacteria.
Pterotheca attenuata life restoration The shell is composed of two slightly concave sub-triangular layers that connect along the anterior most side. The dorsal layer has a ridge that extends perpendicularly from the rest of shell along the median plane. The underside of the ventral most layer is effaced and smooth, but the top of the ventral layer and the bottom of the dorsal layer both show a slight medial ridge. P. attenuata is most often preserved in fine-grained sedimentary rock like shale and limestone, but its range likely extends outside of these facies.
It's Casual was formed in 2001 in Los Angeles, starting with Eddie Solis on guitar, a bassist, drums, and a second guitar player. The name was inspired by a line in The Wild Life, Cameron Crowe's follow up to Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Solis soon met W.C.E., the drummer for Co-Ed and realized they had similar interests, such as Black Flag, The Melvins, and arena rock like Kiss and AC/DC. W.C.E. pitched the idea of a two piece band and It's Casual reformed with W.C.E on drums.
Here visitors could make use of "spelunking gear" \- unusually shaped red, yellow, and purple pillows designed by Natalie Fizer and Emily Stevenson from Pillow Culture. Passing through a felt curtain, the main cave/Dark zone was scattered with large felted loungers meant to evoke rock-like formations. The area was dimly lit and covered in over 6,000 yards of felt meant to dampen sound. The loungers included built-in speakers that emitted soft humming and wave-like noises created by an assistant professor at the Daniels Faculty, Mitchell Akiyama.
While The Plebes had been playing music in a rockabilly style, Tweedy wanted to play punk rock like the music that he originally heard the group perform. This caused tensions between Tweedy and Dade Farrar, who left the band two months after Tweedy joined. Before leaving the band in 1984, Dade Farrar introduced its members to Mike Heidorn, the younger brother of his girlfriend; Heidorn then joined the group as their drummer. The Plebes then decided to change its name to The Primitives, a reference to a 1965 song by psychedelic rock group The Groupies.
Mount Washington is a deeply eroded volcano in the Cascade Range of Oregon. It lies within Deschutes and Linn counties and is surrounded by the Mount Washington Wilderness area. Like the rest of the Oregon Cascades, Mount Washington was produced by the subduction of the oceanic Juan de Fuca tectonic plate under the continental North American tectonic plate, forming during the late Pleistocene. Made mostly of mafic (rich in magnesium and iron) volcanic rock like subalkaline basalt and basaltic andesite, it has a volcanic plug occupying its summit cone and numerous dikes.
Ostergaard taught and conducted research at the University of Birmingham from 1953 until his death. He was also a Rockefeller Foundation fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, and a visiting professor at Osmania University, Hyderabad. Colin Ward wrote that "in his quiet, ironical way [Ostergaard] always relished the absurdities of the job he held" at Birmingham. Ward described Ostergaard as "a rock-like defender of academic freedom", and noted his "moral staunchness" in his support for the student revolts of the 1960s and for David Selbourne in his conflict with Ruskin College.
Burning pieces of wood, showing various stages of pyrolysis followed by oxidative combustion. Some hazardous waste types may be eliminated using pyrolysis in a high temperature not necessarily through electrical arc but starved of oxygen to avoid combustion. However, when electrical arc is used to generate the required ultra heat (in excess of 3000 degree C temperature) all materials (waste) introduced into the process will melt into a molten slag and this technology is termed Plasma not pyrolysis. Plasma technology produces inert materials and when cooled solidifies into rock like material.
"The Akron, Ohio duo of Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach built its name off chugging, crunchy Southern rock like the type dispensed on "Lo/Hi," so it's a welcome return from the gentler sounds that colored the group's last album, 2014's Turn Blue." Jillian Mapes, writing for Pitchfork, compared the style of the song to ZZ Top, and offered a more mixed review of the song, praising the background vocals of Leisa Hans and Ashley Wilcoxson, which inject "a welcome texture", but concludes that the track is "wholly unsurprising".
A large fleet of Unit Rig trucks were sold in countries falling in Arctic circle and they proved to be survivor. Their solid rock like performance forced competitors to spend huge resources on R&D; to match the performance in not only in sub zero but in sub Saharan hot environment. Unit Rig had just 4 engineers to design whole new trucks and a small but very experienced support group. In early 90s, Unit Rig brought in the first truck that had design intent for a min 8000 hours operation per year and successfully proved it.
AbsolutePunk staff member Drew Beringer said the album's "variety and diversity" removes it from Everything in Transit and other pop releases. He felt that both McMahon's lyrics and song structures "continue to get better" as he "cement[s] himself as the current scene’s best pop musician". Sputnikmusic emeritus Athom wrote that the majority of the tracks, despite being rooted in "typical pop-rock like broken hearts and separation", managed to pull off "as surprisingly personal". Though McMahon's lyrics "occasionally falter", they come across as "stronger than they've even been" in spite of his vocals "occasionally fall[ing] short".
This revelation stirs the king and Valoren's paranoia and sets off a wild manhunt for both Brenden and Tyramin. The situation is further inflamed by the apparent disappearance of Princess Sulys, though she is close by in the school's labyrinth trying unsuccessfully to get Valoren's attention. Yar is forced to search the Twilight Quarter for the fugitives, unintentionally accompanied by the curious new student Elver, and they encounter Brenden. Brenden, fearing the pursuit of the relentless Valoren, then flees to a mysterious mountain in the far north and hides among the ancient magical rock-like beings who took refuge there long ago.
He also played as a substitute when Leicester won the 1971 FA Charity Shield. In December 1973, Manley signed for Portsmouth In his brief spell at Pompey with funds made available by ambitious new chairman John Deacon."Portsmouth, from Tindall to Ball" Farmery, C: Southend-on-Sea, Desert Island Books, 1999 Manager John Mortimore planned a rock-like central partnership between the Scotsman and fellow new signing Paul Went which briefly materialisedShort but effective partnership with Went before he severed a cartilage in only his 11th game for the Fratton Park club, never to play professionally again.
A dried section of the Whitechapel fatberg, on display at the Museum of London A fatberg is a rock-like mass of waste matter in a sewer system formed by the combination of flushed non-biodegradable solids, such as wet wipes, and congealed grease or cooking fat. Fatbergs have occurred in cities and towns worldwide, with the rise in usage of disposable (so-called "flushable") cloths. Several prominent examples were discovered in the 2010s in Britain, their formation accelerated by the city's ageing Victorian sewers. Fatbergs are costly to remove, and have given rise to public awareness campaigns about flushable waste.
Pornogrind, also known as porno grind, porno-grind or porn grind, is a musical subgenre of grindcore and death metal, which lyrically deals with sexual themes. Natalie Purcell's book Death Metal Music: The Passion and Politics of a Subculture, suggests that pornogrind is defined solely on the basis of its lyrical content and unique imagery, its focus on pornographic content. Purcell notes that bands like Gut include "simpler, slower, and more rock-like songs". The artwork for pornogrind bands' albums is noted for its extreme and potentially offensive nature, which "would keep them out of most stores".
While the group's first major release, Charlatan, was dominated by rough, punk-rock-like tunes, underlined by Sean Lenart's distinctive, shrill vocals (described by one of the critics as "having reached the heights other lead singers don't even know they exist"), the following studio album, Hyperalgesia, while maintaining the overall characteristic experimental-rock feel of Victorian Halls' music, is a much more mature-rock affair with many great, original songs, that however (perhaps with the exception of the track "Most Firearms Are More Than Adequate in Killing an Undead Brain") lack that unmistakable, fresh roughness of the debut album.
When Brainiac's invasion with Warworld is stopped, a group of aliens from Warworld come to the Earth city of Metropolis."Superman" #66 (April 1992) Clawster has the group steal weapons; Superman tries but fails to stop them."Superman: The Man of Steel" #17 (November 1992) This faction, led by Clawster, an extremely durable rock-like entity, repair and utilize machines taking from Warworld to conquer 'Underworld', a society of outcasts living under the streets of Metropolis. They are brought to the attention of Superman when they take over an underground power station and threaten Lois Lane.
Nino Ferrer was also born in Genoa. In the 70s there were formed in Genoa numerous bands of Italian progressive rock like New Trolls, Picchio dal Pozzo, Latte e Miele, and Delirium. Today we point the band Buio Pesto and The Banshee band. Some songs about the city of Genoa are part of Italian popular culture, like "Via del Campo" and "La Città Vecchia" by Fabrizio de André, "Genova per noi" by Paolo Conte, "La Casa in Via del Campo" the song also sung by Amalia Rodrigues and "Piazza Alimonda" the song about the facts of Genoa 2001 by Francesco Guccini.
Dunedin: Ngai Tahu Development Report, 1999Anderson, Atholl J. Subpolar Settlement in South Polynesia Antiquity 79.306 (2005): 791–800 According to ancient legends, around the year 650 the Polynesian traveller Ui-te-Rangiora led a fleet of Waka Tīwai south until they reached "a place of bitter cold where rock-like structures rose from a solid sea". It is unclear from the legends how far south Ui-te-Rangiora penetrated, but it appears that he observed ice in large quantities. A shard of undated, unidentified pottery, reported as found in 1886 in the Antipodes Islands, has been associated with this expedition.
In Kumamoto, the jūbakobaba would furthermore, while saying "as a jūbakobaba (old woman with a jūbako), do you need a treat or not," deceive people with a rock-like object. ; : The fūri can be seen in the Gazu Hyakki Yagyō, the Wakan Sansai Zue, and the Bencao Gangmu, with statements like "like wind among rocks, it climbs trees, and has a swiftness like flying birds." It is said that by looking for a particular kind of grass and holding it out to a bird, it can serve as bait. ; : Horie village, Itano District, Tokushima Prefecture (now Naruto).
Julie escapes the explosion; she and Germain board a shuttle-craft that latches onto Tyler's ship with a tractor beam before it jumps into hyperspace. Discovering them mid-travel, Tyler tries to shake them off, but the fight causes the hyperspace to collapse and the two ships to crash. Julie wakes up on the desert planet called Oroboris, and meets a mysterious cloaked sage named Odin and his assistant, Zeek, a rock-like creature, both of whom are guardians of the ancient fountain. Elsewhere, Tyler's ship has been destroyed and most of his crew and abductees are dead.
An unknown rock- like material has encased the Y-13's fuselage; testing shows that it is completely impervious to X-rays, infrared, and ultraviolet light. Later that night, a wheezing "creature" breaks into Alameda's New Mexico State Blood Bank, brutally murdering one of the blood bank's nurses; the thing then proceeds to drink vast quantities of blood. The next day, a newspaper headline reads "Terror Roams State" and tells of brutal and inhuman slaughtering of cattle on a farm next to the crash site. Both the dead cattle and the blood bank nurse show similar wounds.
The rock, like the rest of the Siebengebirge, is formed by the remnants of a volcano and has been the site of a trachyte quarry since Roman times, which, amongst others, delivered the building material for the Cologne Cathedral. Of all the hills in the Siebengebirge, it is closest to the river Rhine, which facilitates easy transport by barges, thus making it an excellent place for a quarry. Quarrying ended in 1836, when the Prussian government bought the quarry. In 1922 the first protection measures were put in place and in 1956 the site was declared a national park.
The hold of his buckskin pants on the ice reportedly prevented him from being carried down into the crevice. Wilson was quoted as saying that Yount was clinging to the rock like "a starfish hanging to a breakwater," and that he himself lowered a rope to assist Yount. Because of the delay and the absence of the experienced Alpine climbers, Yount and Wilson had to turn back a few hundred feet short of the summit, at a spur called The Enclosure.Ortenburger, Leigh N. and Jackson, Reynold G., A Climber's Guide to the Teton Range, The Mountaineers Books, 1996, p.
According to review aggregator Metacritic, Bottle It In has received an average score of 78 based on reviews from 24 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Sam Sodomsky of Pitchfork deemed the highlight of the album to be second single "Bassackwards", which he called "10 minutes of warped, psychedelic folk-rock, like a long sigh in the face of existential dread". Sodomsky noted that the album has a loose structure with "more accessible tracks up front and a meditative, somewhat indulgent back-half", and summarized that the album feels like Vile is lost in an "in-between moment".
Dikdaraq is a village in Iran located in Ardebil province which is located in the village. [1] Decker has a population of 50 people. And among the rocky mountains and rock like (Mashgli, Gurubeh, ag kuhul ...) that will be attractive and different for tourists and nature photographers Shepherd's castle ( choban galasi ) is also located in this beautiful and unknown village, which is set opposite the castle of ghah ghah, where the inhabitants of the village are governed by livestock and horticulture, from the village's horticultural products, white berries, walnuts, figs, dried berries. The area has enjoyed great excitement and public speaking.
Agnes is confused by her son's special talents but does not cast them off as her father would have and embraces them. She carries huge burdens on her shoulders but with her rock like faith she can take on anything. Agnes is one of the characters who represent everything good in the world, while even though she is innocent and a better person than a large chunk of today's population, terrible things still happen to her. Her character shows that while you may have done nothing wrong, bad things happen and it's important to hold faith because when one door closes a new one opens.
As imagined by Miles, Count Smokula is a 496-year-old accordion-playing vampire with a cape and fez from the vaguely Eastern-European nation of Smokesylvania. He has been described as "Bela Lugosi-meets-Jackie Mason" and as "a sort of Yiddish Dracula, who plays the accordion and exhibits the longest tongue this side of Gene Simmons of KISS". The Count has a thick Smokesylvanian accent (he plays the "sqveezebox" and loves "to rock like you vouldn't believe it"). Music is his first love and the Count Smokula Orchestra started up about 300 years ago in Glipsch, Smokesylvania where he was greatly influenced by Shnotta Shmulevitz, Smokesylvania's most famous singer.
The darker bands have relatively more mafic minerals (those containing more magnesium and iron). The lighter bands contain relatively more felsic minerals (silicate minerals, containing more of the lighter elements, such as silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium). A common cause of the banding is the subjection of the protolith (the original rock material that undergoes metamorphism) to extreme shearing force, a sliding force similar to the pushing of the top of a deck of cards in one direction, and the bottom of the deck in the other direction. These forces stretch out the rock like a plastic, and the original material is spread out into sheets.
The decision to forgo a tour, in conjunction with Stipe's physical appearance, generated rumors that the singer was dying or HIV-positive, which were vehemently denied by the band. After the band released two slow-paced albums in a row, R.E.M.'s 1994 album Monster was, as Buck said, "a 'rock' record, with the rock in quotation marks." In contrast to the sound of its predecessors, the music of Monster consisted of distorted guitar tones, minimal overdubs, and touches of 1970s glam rock. Like Out of Time, Monster topped the charts in both the US and UK. The record sold about nine million copies worldwide.
The band was listening to a diverse range of music at the time, with majority of it being American rock like Pixies, Soundgarden and Dinosaur Jr.. Other acts included My Bloody Valentine and Super Furry Animals' first album Fuzzy Logic. All these influences resulted in a musically diverse album that incorporated styles like hip hop, drone and Pavement-style indie rock. Appears as: "The musical diversity that ranges from hip hop beats to guitar drone to Pavement- esque indie rock that can be heard on the album is strong enough of a reason to make them a cult favourite." The album title is a reference to the band's previous name Polarbear.
187Note that Rhode, 1979, p. 6 writes that the register that Hütteroth and Abdulfattah studied from the Safad- district was not from 1595/6, but from 1548/9 In 1738 Richard Pococke passed by the place, which he called Zal. He noted that near it was "many sepulchres cut in the rock, some of them are like stone coffins above-ground, others are cut into the rock, like graves, some of them have stone covers over them, so that formerly this might be no inconsiderable place."Pococke, 1745, vol II, p. 65 A map from Napoleon's invasion of 1799 by Pierre Jacotin showed the place, named as Iksad.Karmon, 1960, p. 167.
Victims of the Modern Age is the second studio album by Arjen Anthony Lucassen's progressive metal project/supergroup Star One, released on the recording label Inside Out in the US on 25 October 2010 and in Europe on 1 November 2010. The album continues the style introduced on Star One's previous studio album by mixing progressive metal and space rock. Like on their previous album, the themes of the album's songs are based on science fiction movies or TV series, however it is focused on dystopian or post-apocalyptic movies. The title of the album is a quote from Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange.
During that period, he released seven hit albums and more than 20 singles, including two further number ones: "J'aime les filles" in 1967 and "Il est cinq heures, Paris s'éveille" in 1968. According to music critic Mark Deming: "Dutronc's early hits were rough but clever exercises in European garage rock...like Dutronc's role models Bob Dylan and Ray Davies, he could write melodies strong enough to work even without their excellent lyrics, and his band had more than enough energy to make them fly (and the imagination to move with the musical times as psychedelia and hard rock entered the picture at the end of the decade)".
The Athabasca oil sands, also known as the Athabasca tar sands, are large deposits of bitumen or extremely heavy crude oil, located in northeastern Alberta, Canada – roughly centred on the boomtown of Fort McMurray. These oil sands, hosted primarily in the McMurray Formation, consist of a mixture of crude bitumen (a semi-solid rock-like form of crude oil), silica sand, clay minerals, and water. The Athabasca deposit is the largest known reservoir of crude bitumen in the world and the largest of three major oil sands deposits in Alberta, along with the nearby Peace River and Cold Lake deposits (the latter stretching into Saskatchewan).Mather, Clive , Canada Broadcasting Corporation.
The group did a live version during their 1985 Farm Aid concert appearance with Mike Love, Carl Wilson and Al Jardine sharing lead vocals. The song has an autobiographical feel to it. The 12" single of "Rock 'N' Roll to the Rescue" featured an extended remix of the song which has a lot more keyboard, heavier drum beat, and when Brian sings the verses, the music is led by the bass guitar, creating a more pop sounding version of the song, than mainstream rock like the album and 7" version. Brian Wilson is credited as co-producer, even though it does not list it on the single nor the album.
"I made mortar and set up bricks," she said. There she lived in a small rented room. She did not finish high school because the shows she was doing every day on a different shift did not allow her a schedule to study. Characterized by deep voice and her eclectic choices of material, she played songs of great composers of Brazilian rock such as Cazuza, Renato Russo and Rita Lee, as well as of MPB like Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque, and of pop like Nando Reis, and of sambas like Riachão and of international rock like Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, John Lennon and Nirvana.
The single was written by Thomas and produced by Matt Serletic. Although he was featured on Santana's "Smooth", "Lonely No More" is notable for being the proper solo debut single of Thomas. Unlike the singles he had released in Matchbox Twenty or even “Smooth” (which had more of a Latin rock feel), "Lonely No More" deviates by not containing a strong rock sound, and instead on focusing on a more pop rock like feel. Starting over a series of chordless industrial rhythmic beats, Thomas explains to a prospective romantic interest over a Latin beat why he is not exactly comfortable heading into a relationship with her at the moment.
New York Times art critic Edward Rothstein was among those who criticized the Stone of Hopes depiction of King as overly "stern" and not the proper depiction of a man famous for a speech like "I Have a Dream" or the Nobel Peace Prize: Rothstein, Edward, "A Mirror of Greatness, Blurred", New York Times, August 25, 2011, retrieved September 2, 2012. > We don't even see his feet. He is embedded in the rock like something not > yet fully born, suited and stern, rising from its roughly chiseled surface. > His face is uncompromising, determined, his eyes fixed in the distance, not > far from where Jefferson stands across the water.
Born and raised in Norway (Hemsedal), in the era when he grew up in Norway, the local folk music is very much dominated by the Hardanger fiddle, his grandfather once offered him a fiddle as a birthday present, if he wanted to start playing, but he went for the guitar, and started to play at age 11. His first influence was the evolving heavy/progressive rock music in the seventies, although he once said his first guitar hero was John Fogerty. He soon discovered the more complicated and intricate styles of rock, like Pink Floyd, Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer. Which led him gradually into more contemporary electronic music genres.
The album earned generally positive reviews. On Metacritic, it holds a score of 78 out of 100 based on 11 reviews. "Sounding," said Classic Rock, "like it was recorded in a studio where the amps were set to FUCK YOU rather than 11 and armed with a dual attack of heavy and heaviest, Slayer's 10th studio album [sic] offers a remarkable clarity of vision and strength of identity."Yates, Catherine: "The hard stuff: Albums"; Classic Rock #138, November 2009, p90 "Quite frankly we were beginning to wonder if they still had an album like this left in them," said Greg Moffitt of the BBC.
Lastly, the creator of cumbia villera, Pablo Lescano, admitted that his lyrics were influenced by bands from Argentine punk rock like 2 Minutos and Argentine rock rolinga like Viejas Locas."Nunca vi una vecina tan amarga como vos", La Opinión Semanario"Extrañas relaciones", La Mañana Neuquén This overview is not definitive, as time went on and the genre evolved, many bands started to explore different sounds, so new fusions were born, like cumbia rapera with Bajo Palabra («Parole») mixing cumbia villera with hip hop, and tropipunk with Kumbia Queers mixing cumbia villera with punk. For its characteristics, cumbia villera has been compared to gangsta rap, reggaeton, rock rolinga, raggamuffin, baile funk, and narcocorrido, among other music genres.
Animation in Toronto, Ontario, where they assisted in clean-up animation, Heart of Texas Productions in Austin, and A. Film A/S in Copenhagen where, along with London, about a quarter of the film was animated overseas. The supervising animators were Athanassios Vakalis for Kayley, Chrystal Klabunde for Garrett, Cynthia Overman for Juliana, Alexander Williams for Ruber, Dan Wagner for Devon and Cornwall, Stephan Franck for the Griffin and Bladebeak, and Mike Nguyen for Ayden. To create the rock-like ogre and other computer-generated effects, the production team used Silicon Graphics' Alias Research software. According to Katherine Percy, the head of CGI effects, the software was originally designed for special effects used in live-action films.
In primary school, Ootsuki and classmate Yūichirō Uchida wanted to become manga artists, but they soon started to discover the big names of prog rock like King Crimson and Pink Floyd; Japanese new wave bands like YMO, Hikashu and P-Model; and the Japanese punk rock of Kenji Endo, Zunou Keisatsu, Jagatara, The Stalin and INU. Ootsuki was greatly influenced by all these bands, and started to become interested in music. Apart from music, the manga artists that most influenced him at the time were Yoshikazu Ebisu and Daijiro Morohoshi. In 1979, after joking around at Uchida's birthday party, they formed a band with a few friends (called "Dotechinzu", or "The Donzu").
Grease (1971) reverted to the rock sounds of the 1950s, and black-themed musicals like The Wiz (1975) were heavily influenced by gospel, R&B; and soul music. By the late 1970s, the genre had played itself out. Except for a few outposts of rock, like Dreamgirls (1981) and Little Shop of Horrors (1982), audience tastes in the 1980s turned to megamusicals with pop scores, like Les Misérables (1985) and The Phantom of the Opera (1986).Wollman, pp. 121–123 Some later rock musicals, such as Rent (1996) and Spring Awakening (2006), as well as jukebox musicals featuring rock music, like We Will Rock You (2002) and Rock of Ages (2009), have found success.
When Ladd returned from the army, Paramount announced a series of vehicles for him, including And Now Tomorrow and Two Years Before the Mast. And Now Tomorrow was a melodrama starring Loretta Young as a wealthy, deaf woman who is treated (and loved) by her doctor, played by Ladd; Raymond Chandler co-wrote the screenplay, and it was filmed in late 1943 and early 1944. According to Shipman: > It was a pitch to sell Ladd to women filmgoers, though he had not changed > one iota and he did not have a noticeable romantic aura. But Paramount hoped > that women might feel that beneath the rock-like expression there smouldered > fires of passion, or something like.
Retrieved 13 September 2011. It is often noted that Lang successfully straddles two worlds—classical prodigy and rock- like "superstar", a phenomenon summed up by The Times journalist Emma Pomfret, who wrote, "I can think of no other classical artist who has achieved Lang Lang's broad appeal without dumbing down."Emma Pomfret, "Lang Lang: China's classical superstar", The Sunday Times, 11 April 2009. Retrieved 13 September 2011. Lang's performance style was controversial when he stormed into the classical music scene in 1999. At that time, pianist Earl Wild called him "the J. Lo of the piano." Others have described him as immature, but admitted that his ability to "conquer crowds with youthful bravado" is phenomenal among classical musicians.
In concert, lead singer Breedlove frequently performed shirtless, wearing a strap-on dildo, and encouraged audience members to interact with it. Their songs often deal with subjects such as S/M, nudity, fellatio, and transgender issues, and the band was the subject of controversy because of this. An article from the Chicago Tribune praised their Fireside Bowl show in 1998 stating "If the members of Tribe 8 play punk rock like they own it, it's only because they do." Tribe 8 toured throughout the United States, playing at venues such as DUMBA and 924 Gilman Street; they also played in Europe and Canada, and released a number of recordings on independent record labels.
By merging the language of contemporary architecture, land art, and ocean research and conservation, the Underwater Pavilions were a living artwork within a vibrant ecosystem. In contrast to areas of the sculpture that have a rough and rock- like surface, mirrored sections reflected the seascape and, when approached, activated to become a kaleidoscopic observatory. The environments created by the sculptures changed and adjusted with the currents and time of day, focusing the attention of the viewer on the rhythm of the ocean and its life cycles. The artwork created a variety of converging perceptual encounters that played with the fluidity of time and space, resulting in a heightened awareness of the physical world.
The rock outcrops of the Teufelsmauer are formed of hard sandstones from the various epochs of the Upper Cretaceous. The predominantly clayey and limy strata of the Upper Cretaceous are intercalated by harder sandstones such as Neocomian, Involutus and Heidelberg Sandstone, as well as limestones. In addition, quartzitation caused by the ingress of silicic acid has produced extreme hardening of the sandstones, restricted to just a few metres of the formerly horizontally-oriented strata. The layers of rock, like all the strata on the northern edge of the Harz, were sharply tilted or folded over by the uplifting of the Harz up to the Cretaceous period, so that the surface layers are now upside down.
Between the doors and over a portion of the graded wall, there are two angels supported by pillars and the coat-or-arms of the Counts of Penafiel, surmounted by crown. The rectangular patio, defined by the limits of the residence and small informal garden (in the northeast). The wainscotting is visible for the monochromatic azulejo tiles, that predate the northern part of the eastern wing, whose ground floor is marked by three arches with the access to the interior. The southern elevation, from the ground floor is decorated in cornerstone and has four floors, and includes three corps, including central plan, decorated in rock-like veneer coating until the last floor.
Stone Arthur is properly the south western ridge of Great Rigg, but was given the status of a separate fell by Alfred Wainwright in his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells and that convention is followed here. His decision was based on it having a summit tor with"a short wall of rock like a ruined castle.".Alfred Wainwright: A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, Book 1: This outcrop appears particularly impressive from Grasmere village, from where the higher fells are hidden. From the top of Great Rigg the main ridge ploughs on due south, descending over the tops of Heron Pike and Nab Scar and carrying the ever popular Fairfield horseshoe walk.
The band recorded the album all through May and June at The Halo Studios in Westbrook, Maine. They then came back to WCYY to announce that they were to play at a WCYY Patio Show in July and premiered newly written song "Troublesome" and newly recorded fan favorite "Rock Like War". In late June, the band released a sampler of 12 songs from their new album Light at the End, one of them being the later omitted "Last Night's Band". In early July, the final track list (minus the bonus track "Happy") was posted on Bull Moose Music's website along with the cover art and a link to pre-order the album.
The adults of Ophioblennius steidachneri are mainly found in the surge zone of exposed rocky headlands which have steep slopes where they wedge themselves into crevices near the shore in shallow water. They are territorial and will dart out of their hiding place to defend their territory. They feed during the day when they graze on algae and prey on sessile invertebrates by using the incisor teeth, which are similar in shape to combs, to scrape food off the rock. Like all blennies they are oviparous, laying demersal eggs which are adhered to the substrate by a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal and their larvae are planktonic which are frequently recorded from shallow waters near the coast.
Albert Gleizes, 1911, Dessin pour les Baigneuses, published in La Revue de France et des pays français, February - March 1912 Les Baigneuses is an oil painting on canvas with dimensions 105 x 171 cm (41.3 by 67.3 inches), signed Albert Gleizes and dated 1912, lower left. This work, painted at the outset of 1912, represents a series of naked elegant women at various points in the landscape foreground, their reflections along with the blue of the sky echoing off the water at the lower edge of the canvas. Beyond the bathers can be observed protruding rock-like formations or boulders—with highlights of primary color—that appear to espouse elements of the foreground. Above these cliffs are found several deciduous woody plants of the genus Populus.
Their albums are very different: Shine is a joyous energetic album influenced by The Beatles and blues, Electric eel took flavor of madchester and grunge. Slick stands out with a Blur/Bowie-esque tinged sound - that nevertheless blatantly reveals the genre tension, within the band. Fielfraz have been cited as an influence on Danish rock and grunge bands that broke through in the early 1990s like Kashmir and Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. Gaffa: Nyhed: Hør Tim Christensen fortolke Fielfraz However Fielfraz´ influences were primarily British; Priisholms guitar play was influenced by new wave like XTC and experimental rock like King Crimson and Claus Hemplers lyrics and vocal talent rendered Elvis Costello and Frank Sinatra, much more than hardcore punk and hard rock.
Duvillaun (Black Island) (Gaelic: Dubhoileán) is the name of a cluster of islands lying south to the Inishkea Islands and Inishglora in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Mayo. The main island is known as Duvillaun More (Big Black Island). The other islands are known as Duvillaun Beg (Little Black Island), Turduvillaun, Shiraghy Islands, Keely, Gaghta Island and Leamareha Island. The islands lie close to the coast of the Mullet Peninsula but in their geological type, they are composed of quartzite rock like that found on Achill Island and not like that of the Mullet off which it lies, which is composed largely of schists, slate, gneiss and white psammite with a granite deposit at Termon Hill near its southern end.
Victor attempts to touch the green lava-like substance, causing the ground they are standing on to erupt. Reed, Johnny and Ben return to their shuttle just as Sue brings them back to Earth and Victor is seemingly killed after he falls into the collapsing landscape. The Quantum Gate explodes, altering Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben on a genetic level and granting them superhuman abilities beyond their control: Reed can stretch like rubber, Susan can become invisible and generate force fields, Johnny can engulf his entire body in fire and fly, and Ben develops a rock-like hide which gives him superhuman strength and durability. They are then placed in government custody to be studied and have their abilities tested.
It comprises 150 vertebral centra, with the centra ranging from to in diameter. The shark's vertebrae may have gotten much bigger, and scrutiny of the specimen revealed that it had a higher vertebral count than specimens of any known shark, possibly over 200 centra; only the great white approached it. Another partially preserved vertebral column of a megalodon was excavated from the Gram Formation in Denmark in 1983, which comprises 20 vertebral centra, with the centra ranging from to in diameter. alt=Smmothly rounded dark brown rock-like coprolite The coprolite remains of megalodon are spiral-shaped, indicating that the shark may have had a spiral valve, a corkscrew-shaped portion of the lower intestines, similar to extant lamniform sharks.
Echoes of bluegrass playing (such as Arthur Smith and Doc Watson) could be heard. There was also early rock (like Lonnie Mack, James Burton, and Chuck Berry), contemporary blues (Freddie King and Lowell Fulsom), country and western (Roy Nichols and Don Rich), and jazz (Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt) to be heard in Garcia's style. Don Rich was the sparkling country guitar player in Buck Owens's "the Buckaroos" band of the 1960s, but besides Rich's style, both Garcia's pedal steel guitar playing (on Grateful Dead records and others) and his standard electric guitar work, were influenced by another of Owens's Buckaroos of that time, pedal steel player Tom Brumley. And as an improvisational soloist, John Coltrane was one of his greatest personal and musical influences.
In the first season, Hennessy was the only cast member visible during the opening credits, which featured Eric Rigler's arrangement of a traditional Irish tune "The Boys on the Hilltop" (a quicker tempo, but shorter version of "Reels Part One -- The Boys on the Hilltop" from the Bad Haggis CD Trip). Starting with the second season, the credits showed all the major players and used a more rock- like, less-Irish-sounding opening theme. Crossing Jordan is set in the same fictional universe as fellow NBC series Las Vegas. In the season-four episode "What Happens in Vegas Dies in Boston", a case takes Jordan and Woody to Las Vegas, where Woody became very well-acquainted with the Montecito's casino host, Sam Marquez (Vanessa Marcil).

Light at the End became the fastest selling local album in Maine history, according to Bull Moose Music, breaking the record previously held by the band's 2001 release, Viva Nueva!. The CD was at the top of the store's sales charts for weeks, beating other summer hits from bands such as White Stripes, Smashing Pumpkins and T.I.. "Rock Like War" received large amounts of airtime from WCYY, and was consistently in the station's "Top 5 at 5" contest (in which fans vote online for their favorite songs) for weeks after its release, usually at number one or two. Samples from "Light at the End" have been used as buffer music for The Laura Ingraham Show and WRKO's Red Sox coverage.
This would help ships to enter the safer harbour rather than be exposed to the violent sea where they currently berthed while offloading cargo. The challenge Bristow faced in his task, was the obstruction caused due to a rock-like sand bar that guarded the entrance to the port. However, he was widely optimistic, and started off with a detailed study of the harbour and submitted a report to Lord Willingdon, the Governor of Madras. For the next twenty one years, he was involved with the construction of the port and succeeded in transforming Kochi into one of the safest harbours in the peninsula, where ships berthed alongside the newly reclaimed inner harbour equipped with a long array of steam cranes.
G FUEL Drink Formula is a brand of caffeinated drink mix sold by Gamma Labs, based in West Babylon, New York. It is marketed as a supplement for gaming that boosts focus and reaction time and claims that its advantage over conventional canned energy drinks is that its lack of sugar prevents the fatigue (or "crash" as the company refers to it) that comes when it wears off. G FUEL originally released as a caffeinated powder intended to be mixed with water and has expanded its line of products over time to include a non- caffeinated version of the powder, a carbonated version in a can, a powdered hydration formula, and a pop rock like version in a tube. On August 26, 2020, G FUEL announced it made the Inc.
Terrel learns of the existence of other "Sleepers" like Alyssa and learns of a rock-like creature being used by Macul's king as a way to kill prisoners for entertainment. Terrel embarks on a journey to the capital city of Talazoria in order to speak with the Elemental and, hopefully, avoid a catastrophe that could affect the entire planet. On the way, Terrel meets strange new people (including a group that live in a valley blanketed by cloud such that they never see the sky) and develops his ability as a healer, as well as discovering how to learn languages quickly through the use of psinoma. Alyssa and the ghosts continue to guide him as he attempts to maintain the bargain he made with the first Ancient on Vadanis.
In the Glade, two Rothen depart their ship to greet the denizens of Jijo and ask to participate in a ceremony to see the Holy Egg — a rock-like Jijoian artifact of great religious and spiritual importance to the Six Races. The Rothen also claim they sent the Holy Egg to Jijo to protect Humans by pacifying the other races. This causes immediate fracturing between humans and the other races, but the ceremony continues until a heretic blocks the way and claims the Rothen must leave or the Holy Egg will dispel the Rothen from the planet. The Rothen leader, Ro-kenn says the heretic has no power to stop him, but soon after there is an explosion down slope and the Rothen research station and several Rothen robots are destroyed.
Dante has the power of pyrokinesis with added molten earth properties, uniquely where others are able to produce vast amounts of plasmoid fire and launch it from their own bodies, even lighting themselves aflame similarly to Human Torch. His body morphs into a molten rock like substance whenever catching alight and usually takes the appearance of smoldering ash when cooled. Also uniquely to him these powers come with the side effect involving the burning of his skin and hair while taking him some time to recover from the burns. He also sports an accelerated healing capability which is possibly connected to his ability to recover from his own burns; he once had his arm severed by a rioter and it regenerated from the same volcanic substance his ability produces.
Vocalists, spoken-word passages and occasional rock-like song structures lend the music elements from art rock and gothic rock. Though Elend's music is not any form of metal, Elend's members are associated with numerous metal acts and the metal record label Holy Records, and their harsh sound has led to Elend's music being embraced by a metal-listening audience. The Winds Cycle was originally intended to consist of five albums, however it was changed to a trilogy prior to the release of A World in Their Screams. In an interview with a French magazine posted in June 2007 on their website, Iskander Hasnawi indicated that the costs and difficulties of recording the orchestral music associated with Elend have made it impossible to continue with the Elend project.
Reed is able to stretch like rubber; Susan can become invisible and create force fields, especially when angered; Johnny can engulf himself in fire at temperatures in excess of 4000 K (erroneously described as supernova-like in the film), and is able to fly; and Ben is transformed into a large, rock-like creature with superhuman strength and durability. Victor meanwhile faces a backlash from his stockholders due to the publicity from the failed mission and has a scar on his face from an exploding control console he was near during the cloud's pass. Ben returns home to see his fiancée Debbie, but she cannot handle his new appearance and flees. He goes to brood on Brooklyn Bridge and accidentally causes a traffic pile-up while stopping a man from committing suicide.
Drummer and lyricist Neil Peart said of the song: > Whereas most of the ideas we were dealing with this time were on the lesser > side, and in some cases, like in "Jacobs Ladder", looked at as a cinematic > idea. We created all the music first to summon up an image – the effect of > Jacob's Ladder – and paint the picture, with the lyrics added, just as a > sort of little detail, later, to make it more descriptive. Robert Telleria said in the Rush book Merely Players: > Part heavy metal, part New Age, this song is not about the vision seen by > Jacob in the Bible but rather the atmospheric phenomena that has been named > after that image. The tympani pounding parts rock like apocalyptic > earthquakes. Alex plays like he’s ascending the ladder in the clouds.
The two higher partnerships on this list all post-date the Ponsford-Bradman partnership. Wisden said of Ponsford's innings "... he hit the ball hard and placed it well when scoring in front of the wicket. Moreover, his defence was rock-like in its steadiness and accuracy." With the series locked at 1–1, the fifth and deciding Test at The Oval saw an even larger partnership between Bradman and Ponsford. The pair added 451 runs for the second wicket in an Australian total of 701 runs. Bradman scored 244 and Ponsford—again dismissed hit wicket—his highest Test score, 266. This partnership remained the highest in Tests until 1991 and the highest for the second wicket until 1997. As of 2009, it remains the highest ever in Australian Test history.
Broken Blossom is the fourth studio album by American singer Bette Midler, her second album release in 1977 and her fifth on the Atlantic Records label. Just as Midler's three previous studio albums Broken Blossom includes songs from a wide variety of genres, ranging from Edith Piaf's signature tune "La vie en rose", Phil Spector-esque covers of Billy Joel's "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" and Harry Nilsson's "Paradise" and hard rock like Sammy Hagar's "Red", to a jazzy duet with Tom Waits, "I Never Talk to Strangers", and a rendition of "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", originally from Walt Disney's 1950 film version of Cinderella. The album reached #51 on Billboard's album chart. The album was released on CD for the first time in 1993.
In Spider-Girl and Last Planet Standing, additional children of the original Fantastic Four are shown as members of the Fantastic Five, including Super-Storm (Torus Storm, son of Lyja and Johnny Storm, who possesses the powers of both parents), Grim (Jacob "Jake" Grimm, son of Ben Grimm, stuck in a rock-like yet strong form like his father), and Rad (Alyce Grimm, daughter of Ben Grimm, twin sister of Jacob, appears to have radiation-oriented powers, including flight). Doom, aka Kristoff Vernard, is also shown to be a member of the "young" Fantastic Five; he wears Doctor Doom-like armor. A five issue mini- series called Fantastic Five was published. It features such characters as: Psi-Lord, Invisible Woman, Thing, Sharon Ventura, Human Torch, Ms. Fantastic (Lyja Storm), Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom.
The term "progressive rock" (or "prog rock") was originally coined in the 1960s for music that would otherwise be described as "electronic rock," but the definition of "prog" later narrowed into a specific set of musical conventions - as opposed to a sensibility involving forward-thinking or experimental approaches. Electronic rock is also associated with industrial rock, synth- pop, dance-punk, indietronica, and new wave, with electroclash, new rave, post-punk revival, post-rock, considered as subgenres. Sometimes, certain other electronic subgenres are fused with rock, like trance and techno, leading to the use of the terms trance rock and techno rock, respectively. Heavy metal, a major subgenre of rock, is sometimes mixed with electronic and its subgenres, inspiring terms such as electronic metal, electronic dance metal, trance metal and techno metal.
The music of Necros Christos renounces high speeds, blast beats and demonstrations of the technical skills of the musicians, and instead focuses on "slow, simple, panzer-like heaviness in conjunction with sinister growls and a strange, indefinable occult quality". In the context of the metal subculture, singer and songwriter Mors Dalos Ra sees the band more in the tradition of bands like Black Sabbath and Mercyful Fate in their occult orientation than in the modern-sounding, blastbeat-heavy death metal bands. His musical inspiration, however, comes more from the Eastern folklore, especially Persia, India and the Arab countries. As a further important source he gives Italian and German Baroque music and old occult 1960s / 1970s rock like Coven or Salem Mass, as well as The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
FitzRoy chose the Keeling Islands in the Indian Ocean, and on arrival there on 1 April 1836, the entire crew set to work, first erecting FitzRoy's new design of a tide gauge that allowed readings to be taken from the shore. Boats were sent all around the island to carry out the survey, and despite being impeded by strong winds, they took numerous soundings to establish depths around the atoll and in the lagoon. FitzRoy noted the smooth and solid rock-like outer wall of the atoll, with most life thriving where the surf was most violent. He had great difficulty in establishing the depth reached by living coral, as pieces were hard to break off and the small anchors, hooks, grappling irons, and chains they used were all snapped off by the swell as soon as they tried to pull them up.
Instead of the agreed-upon eighteen months, Rodin spent seven years making different studies, both nude and non-nude, only to present his final plaster in 1898 at a Salon in Champ de Mars with great disapproval by the Societè. Disillusioned with this result, Rodin decided to install the plaster at his house in Meudon. Only in 1939 was a full-size cast put at the crossroads of boulevard Raspail and boulevard du Montparnasse, also known as carrefour Vavin, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Three sculptures of Balzac made by Rodin Unlike other studies and the final version of the monument, Balzac in the Robe of a Dominican Monk shows the author fully clothed with the traditional habit of the Dominican order--a simple cloak with a belt-- standing in a rock-like structure and with both hands explicitly shown.
On his watershed record Kind of Blue, Miles Davis with pianist Bill Evans used a chord consisting of three perfect fourth intervals and a major third on the composition "So What". This particular voicing is sometimes referred to as a So What chord, and can be analyzed (without regard for added sixths, ninths, etc.) as a minor seventh with the root on the bottom, or as a major seventh with the third on the bottom . From the outset of the 1960s, the employment of quartal possibilities had become so familiar that the musician now felt the fourth chord existed as a separate entity, self standing and free of any need to resolve. The pioneering of quartal writing in later jazz and rock, like the pianist McCoy Tyner's work with saxophonist John Coltrane's "classic quartet", was influential throughout this epoch.
Work on the album involved collaborating with numerous artists and producers including Wells. Guy Sigsworth, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, Rivers Cuomo, Kuk Harrell, Greg Kurstin, Benny Blanco, Darkchild, Cathy Dennis, Ester Dean, and Tricky Stewart, who told Rap-Up magazine in December 2009 that the sound of the album would be pop and rock, like One of the Boys, though calling it a "different gear" for himself. As for the visual component, Perry likens it to "going from Shirley Temple, Betty Boop to more of a Betty Paige [sic], pop art-sarcastic-fun-Lichtenstein picture: still bright, but the colors are more saturated, and it's more metallic fuchsia or purple than bubblegum pink." On March 27, 2010, at 2010 Kids' Choice Awards, Perry told Jose Ordonez that she considered the album "a summer record".
Each year they have hosted a benefit show, adding to the total donated to cancer research, and building ties with other initiatives like UNH's Wildcat Santa toy drive. A self-titled album released in 2006 reflected the group's growing interest in popular modern music. Fall Out Boy's track “Sugar, We’re Going Down” and classic rock like The Eagles’ “Hotel California” appeared alongside barbershop arrangements like “Chordbuster’s March." The 2009 album "Shifting Gears" furthered the group's move away from its traditional barbershop roots, with tracks like Spoon's “The Underdog” and Kelly Clarkson's “Gone.” A unique arrangement of The Doobie Brothers’ “Black Water” also demonstrated the group's talents beyond singing, as music director Harrison Kisiel contributed an arrangement that, according to critics at the Recorded A Cappella Review Board, "solves this Riddle of the Sphinx with a head-turning arrangement packed with creativity, maturity, and deep southern funk.
Punk rock developed between 1974 and 1976, originally in the United States, where it was rooted in garage rock, and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music.P. Murphy, "Shine On, The Lights Of The Bowery: The Blank Generation Revisited", Hot Press, 12 July 2002; Hoskyns, Barney, "Richard Hell: King Punk Remembers the [ ] Generation", Rock's Backpages, March 2002. The first punk band is usually thought to be the Ramones from 1976 (although the Sex Pistols formed in the UK in 1975 so perhaps Punk rock originally developed in the UK first). This was taken up in Britain by bands also influenced by the pub rock scene and Us punk rock, like the Sex Pistols and The Clash, The Damned, The Jam, The Stranglers, Generation X, The Buzzcocks, Sham 69, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tom Robinson Band, who became the vanguard of a new musical and cultural movement, blending simple aggressive sounds and lyrics with clothing styles and a variety of anti- authoritarian ideologies.
The Betty Clones (all voiced by Tajja Isen) are three once-evil identical clones of Atomic Betty that were created by Maximus from genetic material in a piece of hair that he had sliced off with his laser sword during a duel. The clones look identical to Betty in every way, shape, and form, except for the eye colors, and are dressed in colour-coded mockups of the Galactic Guardian uniform. In addition to Betty's DNA, they also have genetic material from being from Maximus' homeworld to augment their abilities, giving them unique superpowers the real Betty does not possess. Clone Betty 1 (the red clone) powers come from Optica, the Fire Witch, giving her the ability to fly and use pyrokinesis; The powers of Clone Betty 2 (the orange clone) come from Destructa, the Rock Princess, allowing her to morph into a larger form with rock-like skin and superhuman strength.
Lewis left the band after he was accepted to New York University, and Jack Snyder would take his place on guitar. After booking a tour for Mayday Parade, Zachary LeCompte-Goble asked Brooks Betts of Mayday Parade to manage the band, and he agreed, which aided the band's rise from the local circuit to a touring band, however Brooks stepped down due to his own band commitments and LeCompte-Goble moved to Los Angeles in 2009. The band began to work with Thomas Gutches of The Artery Foundation. Their debut EP Rock Like A Party Star was self-released on April 14, 2008, which has sold over 5,000 copies to date without label or management promotion. It was recorded with Bobby Leonard at Paper Tiger Studios in Columbus, OH. On June 15, 2010, the band's cover of Third Eye Blind's "I’ll Never Let You Go" was featured on Alter The Press's Rockin’ Romance 2 compilation.
Complete with dancers, costume changes, lights, and props, Chasez crossed the line from sheer musician to pure entertainer...If the music business is a circus, Chasez set out to produce The Greatest Show on Earth.” Powers also praised his vocal talents: "His voice is, without question, a miracle: elastic and tough, it can move from curdling to coddling in an instant, pushing the limits of what one would think is humanely possible.” Jon Pareles (New York Times) commented "Mr. Chasez is most retro in his rock; like a promising apprentice, he directly mimicked Robert Plant and Prince (singing Prince's 'Let's Go Crazy'), and whipped up a fervor to rival early Sting in his Police imitation, 'Everything You Want.’" Patrick Berkery (The Philadelphia Inquirer) wrote, "Chasez was a bumping and grinding, locking and popping dancing machine as he sang carnally minded jams from his debut solo outing...in a voice that alternated between achy tenor and fluttery falsetto.
There's nothing extraneous – no 3 bar > solos that have to be in another key, because they won't fit, otherwise, nor > jazz fakeout drum bits, nor yodelling, nor throat singing, nor funk odyssey- > it's all mighty, mighty solid rock.
