Bahonar was a reviler of the Pahlavi dynasty and had activities against Mohammad Reza Shah that led to imprisonment him in 1963, 1964, and 1975. On 1963, he was jailed for opposing the Shah's White Revolution. Also, during exile of Khomeini in Iraq and France, he continued his revolutionary activities and was an influential member among Khomeini's followers. Bahonar along with Morteza Motahari was active speaker of Hosseiniyeh Ershad, a religious lecture hall in the Tehran.

At once both beautiful and startling, it is a song that sounds like a held breath, never letting slip the power that swells within it". Kitten Forever is a Minneapolis-based feminist punk trio. The all-woman band formed in June 2006 and includes Corrie Harrigan, Laura Larson, and Liz Elton. Reviler described them as a trio who "collapse pop melodies underneath fuzzy, broken-speaker bass and chaotic drumming, all held together by glue and safety pins vocals that bring to mind the kinetic energy and art-punk attitude of Karen O." Kitten Forever released their first album, Born Ready, in 2008. In July 2013, they released their second full-length album, Pressure, which they promoted on their RIDE OR DIE WITCH NO BUMMER SUMMER: NOTHING'S BETTER THAN FRIENDS TOUR.

Kirkwood published an account of the Linlithgow litigation in A Short Information of the Plea betwixt the Town Council of Lithgow and Mr. James Kirkwood, Schoolmaster there, whereof a more full account may perhaps come out hereafter (1690). Among other charges brought against Kirkwood was that he was "a reviler of the gods of the people". "By gods", says Kirkwood, "they mean the twenty-seven members of the town council". Many years later he published The History of the Twenty Seven Gods of Linlithgow; Being an exact and true Account of a Famous Plea betwixt the Town-Council of the said Burgh, and Mr. Kirkwood, Schoolmaster there.

Jehovah's Witnesses practice a form of excommunication, using the term "disfellowshipping", in cases where a member is believed to have unrepentantly committed one or more of several documented "serious sins". The practice is based on their interpretation of 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 ("quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man....remove the wicked man from your midst") and 2 John 10 ("never receive him in your home or say a greeting to him"). They interpret these verses to mean that any baptized believer who engages in "gross sins" is to be expelled from the congregation and shunned. When a member confesses to, or is accused of, a serious sin, a judicial committee of at least three elders is formed.
