Community leaders revitalized the local economy by founding Wesleyan University in 1831, and investing in textile and machine industries. The Wesleyan campus was laid out west of High Street, and the area between it and Main Street, originally open land used mainly for gardening, was developed residentially. Although there had been some houses built during the Federal period, the amount of housing stock in this area tripled between 1830 and 1850.

Dimitrie Leonida, formerly known as IMGB is a metro station in southern Bucharest, on Line 2. The station was originally built in order to transport workers to the Kvaerner IMGB (literally: Heavy Machinery Factory, Bucharest) steelworks. Even though this purpose is still served today to an extent, the area around the steelworks has developed residentially, and therefore is used by commuters who work in the city centre of Bucharest. The station was opened on 24 January 1986 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Piața Unirii to Depoul IMGB.

After Essendon disbanded during the Great War, Ogden was captain-coach of Preston (then in junior ranks) in 1916–17 before returning when Essendon resumed in 1918. He spent 1919 as captain and the following two were as captain-coach. Ogden effectively retired from League ranks and was captain-coach of Northcote (where he lived) in 1922. Believing his form was still good enough for League football, he returned to Essendon in 1923, but as a "new" player under zoning rules introduced post-war, he was residentially tied to Fitzroy and his permit was refused.

McAsey, the son of 1950s Footscray player Alan McAsey, played his junior football at Spotswood, but was residentially tied to the Swans, which recruited him into the Under 19s in 1982. He kicked 60 goals for the Under 19s in his first season and captained the side in 1983. During this time he was also a Victorian Teal Cup representative. He played reserves football in 1984, then made his senior debut in the opening round of the 1985 VFL season and made a total of 11 league appearances that year.

He named it Léopoldville (French) or Leopoldstad (Dutch) in honour of King Leopold II who was his patron and subsequently King- Sovereign of the Congo Free State established in 1885. Léopoldville expanded rapidly and its importance as an administrative centre grew. Following the Free State's annexation, it superseded Boma as the capital of the Belgian Congo in 1926 and became the seat of the colonial administration and Governor- General. A residentially segregated city, the street-plan and general layout of the city centre dates to the Belgian colonial period.

The camp offered residentially for three weeks offers various STEM related courses such as Cryptology, Biotechnology, Flight Science, Crime Scene Investigation, Crystal and Polymer, Engineering, Probability and Game Theory, Ethnomathematics, Mathematics for the Universe, Robotics etc. Students offered to the camp can select one of the course for the three weeks duration. Classes will be taught by teachers and assistant teachers who are trained by the management of the Malaysian National Gifted Center. Students will start their academic activities from 8 am until 4 pm, followed by co-curricular activities in the late afternoon.

Audubon Park was developed residentially in the early 20th century on of hilly pastureland once owned by Gen. William Preston, who in turn had been granted the land in 1774 from the British government as payment for his services during the French and Indian War. The land was sold to G. Robert Hunt in 1906, and the Audubon Park Country Club was built by avid golfer Russell Houston. The Audubon Park Realty Co. purchased the land in 1912 and named the neighborhood after wildlife painter John James Audubon.

The other, an early Isambard Kingdom Brunel railway bridge. At its western edge close to the town centre is the Financial Services company The Prudential where the residential options are modern large apartments and The Orts road Council estate. The area is the eastern boundary of Reading Borough Council with Wokingham District Council. Residentially, it is composed, at the eastern end, of terraced houses which were originally built for the employees of Huntley and Palmers and Sutton's Seeds and they feature the distinctive polychromatic brickwork where one of the best kept examples is School Terrace and the Victorian Newtown Primary School.

Residential care is defined as a 24-hour placement where adolescents live away from the home and receive a higher level of treatment from mental health professionals who provide multidisciplinary services such as therapy and medication management. Similar to youth in foster care, residentially bound youth are difficult to treat due to behavioral and emotional regulation difficulties. Residential care is typically reserved for adolescents who are considered to be a danger to the community and themselves, requiring a structured and safe environment. These facilities are not only highly restrictive but are also the most expensive psychological service available.

But Thornton stopped making the payments within four months, and moved the portion of his business that had for a while occupied a rental property in a nearby commercially zoned area, back into his residentially zoned neighborhood. Thornton never paid any of the fines from the Kirkwood code violation cases concluded in 2001 and 2002. Instead, he appeared regularly at city council meetings complaining of persecution, fraud and coverup by city officials. In 2003, he had signs on the side of his van, in which he vowed he would never again "accept lies from the city of Kirkwood".

The area that is now called Mott Haven was sold to the Morris family in 1670. A small part of the larger swath of land known as Morrisania, it was purchased by Jordan Lawrence Mott for his iron works in 1849. A vestige of the iron works can be seen just west of the Third Avenue Bridge on East 134th Street at St. Ann's Church (ECUSA) on St. Ann's Avenue is the resting place of Lewis Morris, Gouverneur Morris and other members of that powerful colonial family, and a Registered Historic Place. As the city below grew, the area quickly developed residentially.

The West End, located on Kamloops' South Shore (i.e., south of the Thompson River), is generally considered to be the area of Kamloops bounded to the East by 2nd Avenue, to the West by Summit Drive, to the North by Victoria Street West and to the South by Columbia Street. The neighbourhood is not necessarily regarded as the western end of Kamloops itself (the Brocklehurst area of the North Shore lies further to the West), but rather as the western end of the downtown area. Almost the entire West End is zoned residentially and is not home to more than a few businesses.

The Southern Thames Historic District encompasses the commercial and residential area immediately to the south of the colonial center of Newport, Rhode Island. This area, covering about , was developed both residentially and commercially between about 1850 and 1920, with the majority of its growth coming in the late 19th century. It is characterized by densely built streets, including Thames Street, Newport's major north–south thoroughfare. The district includes the southern portion of Newport's waterfront, extending south from Memorial Boulevard along Thames and Spring Streets to Morton Street, and west to Marchant Street in its southernmost section.

The Doyle Avenue Historic District is a predominantly residential historic district on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. It extends along Doyle Avenue from North Main Street in the west to Proctor Place (just short of Hope Avenue). This area was developed residentially between 1860 and 1920, with an architecturally diverse collection of houses (single and multi-unit dwellings), generally set on small lots with only modest setback from the sidewalk. Land on the south side of Doyle Avenue was owned by the Dexter Commission, which managed a large tract of land bequested to the city by Ebenezer Dexter.

The area east of King's wharf and south of Main Street developed as a transport support area, with warehouses for the storage of goods awaiting shipment, and was augmented by light industry, including the manufacture of items, such as paper tubes and boxes. The waterfront was also the site of Burlington's only shipyard. Areas further inland were also developed residentially, but today reflect a mix of uses. with When first listed on the National Register in 1977, the district extended east from Lake Champlain to St. Paul Street, and south from Main Street (generally excluding Main Street addresses) to Maple Street.

One of the most important advances in research on intergroup contact is the growing evidence for a number of indirect, non-face-to-face intergroup contact strategies as a means to improve relations between social groups. While the benefits of direct intergroup contact have been empirically established, its implementation is often not practical. For example, in many countries, racial and religious groups are often residentially, educationally or occupationally segregated, which limits the opportunity for direct contact. However, even when the opportunity for direct intergroup contact is high, anxiety and fear can produce a negative or hostile contact experience or lead to the avoidance of the contact situation altogether.

300px The Tucson Botanical Gardens is a 5.5 acre (2.2 ha) collection of sixteen residentially scaled urban gardens in Tucson, Arizona, United States. Paths connect these gardens, which include a Zen Garden, a Prehistoric Garden, a Barrio Garden, a Butterfly Garden, a Xeriscape Garden, and a Children’s Garden. The Cox Butterfly & Orchid Pavilion is home to orchids, bromeliads, and jungle vegetation, along with a display of live tropical butterflies from five continents from October to April. The Cactus and Succulent Garden contains hundreds of cacti and arid plants arranged to imitate the arid Sonoran desert, and is embellished with exotic stones and minerals collected by the Gardens’ founder, Harrison Yocum.

The neighborhood began to fill out residentially at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th, when the New York City Subway's IRT Ninth Avenue Line in 1870 and the IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line in 1904 allowed the public ready access to uptown Manhattan. Columbia's purchase of the Bloomingdale Lunatic Asylum at around the same time as the subway's arrival naturally made the neighborhood more attractive as well. The area was populated mostly by Irish and German immigrants through the 1950s. Young boys and girls took advantage of Central Park and Riverside Drive or played stick ball and roller hockey in the streets.

The Flin Flon School Division maintains and operates two elementary schools and two high schools in the city of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada. The Flin Flon School Division provides educational services to the children of Flin Flon, Channing, and the residentially developed nearby areas of Big Island, Schist Lake and Bakers Narrows on Lake Athapapuskow. Historically, the School Division has also served the high school students of nearby Creighton, Saskatchewan, and Denare Beach, Saskatchewan, although in 2003/2004, Creighton residents began the development of their own High School Program at Creighton School. Notable alumni who attended schools in the Flin Flon School Division include professional ice hockey players Bobby Clarke, Reggie Leech and Reid Simpson.

Roslindale grew residentially as a classic streetcar suburb. The railway was built after the American Civil War, and spawned a new round of commercial development. Roslindale saw steady growth in its residential population, beginning in the 1880s, with the introduction of the horse-drawn street railway service between Forest Hills and Dedham. On March 14, 1887, a Boston & Providence Railroad train consisting of a locomotive and nine passenger cars inbound from Dedham to Boston with over 200 passengers, was passing over a bridge at Bussey Street, in the current Arnold Arboretum, when the bridge collapsed causing the rear five cars to pile up on top of each other, killing twenty-three and injuring over one hundred.

The area developed residentially in the 1840s, when Lowell Street (not part of the district except City Hall) was lined with small businesses such as shoe shops, resulting in a collection of Greek Revival and Italianate houses. The area's significance as the city center was cemented with the construction in the 1870s of St. John's, an imposing Victorian Gothic brick building, and the 1880s construction of City Hall, a 3-1/2 story Second Empire building. The historic district is anchored at its northeastern corner by City Hall, and is roughly L shape extending south and then west from there. It includes housing along Chestnut Street between Lowell and Franklin Street, and along Franklin between Chestnut and School Streets.

The Kay Street–Catherine Street–Old Beach Road Historic District is a historic district in Newport, Rhode Island. The area is located north of Newport's well-known Bellevue Avenue, and encompasses an area that was developed residentially between about 1830 and 1890, for the most part before the Gilded Age mansions were built further south. The district is bounded on the south by Memorial Boulevard, on the east by Easton's Pond, on the west by Bellevue Avenue and Kay and Bull Streets, and on the north by Broadway, Rhode Island Avenue, Prairie Avenue, and Champlin Street. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1973, with a boundary decrease in 2018.

Thirty years after the civil rights era, the United States remains a residentially segregated society in which blacks and whites still often inhabit vastly different neighborhoods. Redlining is the practice of denying or increasing the cost of services, such as banking, insurance, access to jobs, access to health care,See: Race and health or even supermarkets to residents in certain, often racially determined, areas. The most devastating form of redlining, and the most common use of the term, refers to mortgage discrimination. Data on house prices and attitudes toward integration suggest that in the mid-20th century, segregation was a product of collective actions taken by whites to exclude blacks from their neighborhoods.

Stephen James Allender (born 24 July 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Allender attracted the attention of VFL recruiters with his strong performance for Port Melbourne in 1980, when he won the J. J. Liston Trophy and played in a premiership team. He was signed by at the start of 1981, but there was a dispute: although he lived in South Melbourne's zone, he was residentially tied to and would remain as such until November 1983, because he had lived in Lalor until February 1979. Carlton ended up granting him a clearance to South Melbourne, but South Melbourne was fined $20,000 by the VFL for poaching.

Guildford is the historic county town, although the county administration was moved to Newington in 1791 and to Kingston upon Thames in 1893. The county council's headquarters have been outside the county's boundaries since 1 April 1965, when Kingston and other areas were included within Greater London by the London Government Act 1963. The council abandoned plans in the latter part of the 2000s decade to move its headquarters to Woking. Due to its proximity to London there are many commuter towns and villages in Surrey, the population density is medium to high on residentially developed land and the area is one of the richest parts of the UK. Much of the north of the county is an urban area contiguous to Greater London.

St. Bethlehem is one of the most visited areas in Montgomery County. The Governor's Square Mall (not to be confused with the Governor's Square Mall of Tallahassee, Florida), which is the center of shopping activity in St. Bethlehem, one of two K-Marts, Sam's Club (located further north), and one of three Wal-Marts in the county are located off this street. During the Civil War, the Confederate States of America established Camp Boone at St. Bethlehem in 1861, along the Guthrie- Russellville Road (today SR 79) as a camp for the recruitment of Kentucky soldiers into the Confederate Army. A Tennessee state historical marker denotes the location. When the Trane Company moved its factory into the area in the 1960s, the area exploded in growth, both residentially and commercially.

Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) is a provision of the 1968 federal Fair Housing Act signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The law requires that "All executive departments and agencies shall administer their programs and activities relating to housing and urban development (including any Federal agency having regulatory or supervisory authority over financial institutions) in a manner affirmatively to further the purposes of" the Fair Housing Act. The law also requires the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to administer all HUD programs in a manner that affirmatively furthers fair housing. Since the Fair Housing Act has a dual purpose - both the elimination of all forms of housing discrimination and residentially segregated communities, affirmatively furthering fair housing is essentially fulfilling the dual purpose of the law.

Phillippia Simmons reports that many of the studies which have investigated intra- and interracial crime seek to explain this through a theory of macrostructural opportunity which states that interracial violence is primarily a function of opportunity and access.Simmons (2009:398) According to this theory, intraracial crime rates remain relatively high due to the fact that much of the US remains residentially segregated. She notes that this theory predicts that, if residential areas were more racially integrated, intraracial crime would decrease and interracial crime would increase correspondingly. However, she also notes that not all researchers on the topic of intraracial crime agree with this result, with some pointing to other macrostructural factors, such as income and education, which may negate the effect of race on inter- and intraracial crime.

By late 2001, Thornton had been cited many dozens more times by Kirkwood officials under municipal code enforcement actions for operating an unlicensed business from his home, in a (since the 1992 annexation) residentially-zoned incorporated area; illegal dumping; destruction of property; parking his construction company's equipment near his home as he had always done; and for numerous other municipal code violations. Kirkwood said in a state court memorandum in 2003 that by May 2002, multiple trials in city and county courts had concluded with Thornton pleading guilty to, or being found guilty of, more than 100 of 114 charges. Charges were dropped, or Thornton was found not guilty, on at least a dozen other charges. Thornton said later in federal court, and at Kirkwood city council meetings, that he had received more than 150 tickets.

Des Arc High School, which opened in 1872, is a comprehensive public high school located in Des Arc, Arkansas, United States 72040 and is an all- inclusive public school. The school provides education to over 170 kids in grades 7th through 12th that residentially live in Prairie County and Lonoke County communities encompassing of land including all or portions of Des Arc, Briscoe, Carlisle, Ward, Griffithville, and Lonoke. It is one of two public high schools in Prairie County and the only high school administered by the Des Arc School District.. If a student does not reside in Des Arc or Prairie County but the parents still wish to send their kid to Des Arc High School; there is a School Choice for Non-Resident Students application that the parents can fill out. The application is available on the Des Arc High School website.

Genevieve Gaignard, born in Orange, Massachusetts in 1981, is best known for work exploring issues of race, class, and gender. As a self-identified mixed- race woman, Gaignard utilizes photography, videography, and installation to explore the overlap of black and white America through staged environments and character performances. She received an AAS in Baking & Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales University, her BA in photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2007, and an MFA from Yale University in 2014. Gaignard's work is represented by Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, and has been shown at Shulamit Nazarian, The Cabin, The FLAG Art Foundation, The California African American Museum, The Foley Gallery, and at two residentially-owned art spaces in Los Angeles, CA. She was also included in the fourth iteration of the triennial Prospect New Orleans, in 2018, with an installation at the Ace Hotel New Orleans.

View down Hermitage Street of North Wharf Gardens Site 1 Sandwiched between the Westway and the canal basin, the 1.5-hectare site of the former North Westminster Community School was omitted from the Paddington Special Policy Area as it was expected to remain in use for education. The decision to build the Paddington Academy and Westminster Academy left the site available for redevelopment when the City of Westminster College moved to a new campus at the end of 2010. The planning brief proposed that "around 80% of gross internal area delivered on the site should be allocated for residential use, with public open space, and supporting active uses that provide local employment." In April 2012 Westminster City Council sold the site to Amwaj Property Limited, of Bahrain, which commissioned London-based Assael Architecture to design a residentially- oriented mixed-use development, the first phase of which was scheduled for completion in 2015 at an estimated cost of £71 million.

South Side, May 1974 Urban areas in the U.S. can often be classified as "black" or "white", with the inhabitants primarily belonging to a homogenous racial grouping. Forty years after the American civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, most of the United States remains a residentially segregated society in which blacks and whites inhabit different neighborhoods of significantly different quality. Many of these neighborhoods are located in Northern and Western cities where African-Americans moved during the Great Migration (1914–1970), a period when over a million African- Americans moved out of the rural southern United States to escape the widespread racism of the South; to seek out employment opportunities in urban environments; and to pursue what was widely perceived to be a better quality of life in the North and West, such as New York City, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, and Seattle. Two main factors ensured further separation between races and classes, and ultimately the development of contemporary ghettos: the relocation of industrial enterprises, and the movement of middle to upper class residents into suburban neighborhoods.
