On October 25, 2010, the Indianapolis Colts signed Kapinos to replace the team's regular punter, Pat McAfee, who was serving a one-game suspension for his October 20 arrest for public intoxication. Kapinos was waived on November 3 after McAfee was reinstated.

After playing junior football for the Edmonton Wildcats, Marcel Deleeuw joined the Edmonton Eskimos in 1964 as their regular punter, replacing Aubrey Linne. Deleeuw punted for a 38.0 average and no single point. However, the following year he was replaced as the punter and mostly served as a punt returner.

Because of an injury to their regular punter, Dave Zastudil, the Cardinals signed Butler on September 8, 2014. Butler made his debut for the Cardinals later that same day in their 2014 season opener against the San Diego Chargers on ESPN's Monday Night Football. He was released on September 16, 2014. He was re-signed by the Cardinals on September 19, 2014 despite the blocked punts that he had for the team that season.

Brian Greenfield (born June 6, 1969) is a former American football player with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers and with the Cleveland Browns. He was selected to the 1990 College Football All-America Team. Greenfield came to Pitt in 1989 from Glendale Community College (Calif.), and was the Panthers' regular punter for the 1989 and 1990 seasons. In 1990, he finished as the second-ranked punter in the nation with a school-record 45.6-yard average.

In 1936, he only completed nine passes for 147 yards and one touchdown, while having five more interceptions. In 1937, he passed for 288 yards and two touchdowns, alongside nine interceptions. He was selected second-team All-NFL by the International News Service at the end of the year. Gildea was also the Pirates' regular punter during his three seasons with the team, sharing duties in his final season with future Hall of Famer John "Blood" McNally.

He married in 1993 and went on his honeymoon to California, where he contacted the coaching staff of the San Diego Chargers and asked for a tryout. He wound up impressing the Chargers sufficiently that he was placed on the team's practice squad for the 1994 season. During the spring of 1995, the Chargers sent him to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe, where he led the league in net punting average and earned all-league honours. That fall, he became the Chargers' regular punter.
