Burmese massage is a full body massage technique that starts from head to toes, drawing on acupuncture, reflexology, and kneading. Signature massage strokes include acupressure using the elbows, quick gentle knocking of acupressure points, and slow kneading of tight muscles.

Known in Thailand as นวดแผนโบราณ (Nuat phaen boran, ), meaning "ancient/traditional massage", traditional Thai massage (Nuad Boran) is generally based on a combination of Indian and Chinese traditions of medicine. Health consumers sometimes confuse the terms "wellness" and "well-being". Wellness is a term more commonly associated with alternative medicine which may or may not coincide with gains in subjective well-being. In 2014, the Australian Government reviewed the effectiveness of numerous complementary therapies: they found low-moderate quality evidence that the Alexander technique, Buteyko, massage therapy (remedial massage), tai chi and yoga are helpful for certain health conditions. On the other hand, the balance of evidence indicates that homeopathy, aromatherapy, bowen therapy, Feldenkrais, herbalism, homeopathy, iridology, kinesiology, pilates, reflexology and rolfing shiatsu were classed as ineffective.

Ayurvedic medicine remedies are mainly plant based with some use of animal materials. Safety concerns include the use of herbs containing toxic compounds and the lack of quality control in Ayurvedic facilities. According to the National Health Service (England), the most commonly used complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) supported by the NHS in the UK are: acupuncture, aromatherapy, chiropractic, homeopathy, massage, osteopathy and clinical hypnotherapy.

Born in the south Indian state of Kerala, C. A. Ansar did his post-graduate studies in Panchakarma (Ayurveda) at Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College and Hospital, Chennai. It was during this period, he was diagnosed with Glaucoma, a disease which affects the optic nerve, eventually leading to blindness, He completed the studies but soon afterwards, lost his vision completely in 2007. However, he continued his studies and underwent training in Swedish massage, Sujok therapy and Yoga in India and in reflexology in China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Mastroianni College Scholarship Program is designed to help college bound students who have suffered a loss of a parent or guardian due to breast cancer to make their higher education dreams a reality by providing scholarship funding. UBCF’s Holistic Care Program provides current breast cancer patients or those within 10 years of remission with holistic and complimentary treatments including; yoga, reiki, meditation, diet and nutritional counseling and supplements, counseling, mind-body therapies, energy healing, reflexology, lymphatic massage and acupuncture. UBCF’s Breast Reconstructive Surgery Program provides women who have had a mastectomy with funding for surgery.
