The club hosts a range of races over the course of the year. In summer, criterium races are held on Sunday mornings at Glenvale Crescent and Tuesday evenings at Sandown International Raceway. The club also holds track racing and training during summer. Over winter, the club runs longer road races east of Melbourne.
When Westra was 20 years old, she won the first known official speed skating competition for women. It was skated on the city moat behind the Prinsentuin in Leeuwarden from 1 to 2 February 1805. The competition was skated as elimination races over ca. 140 meters, of two ladies each time, the format of Kortebaanschaatsen.
A new stand and clubhouse was erected in 1972 and the provincial track boasted some of the best facilities outside Dublin. Prominent sire, Castledown Lad started racing here in the 1930s followed by Newdown Heather. Races over the years have included the Midland Puppy Stakes, Midland St Leger, Joe Clyne Memorial and Midland Cesarewitch.
The last day for simulcast racing was December 7, 2019 and the poker room closed December 15, 2019. Demolition began in February 2020. The track has hosted both American Quarter Horse racing and Thoroughbred horse races. Over the years, Portland Meadows has been the site of numerous outdoor music concerts and other forms of entertainment.
The year 1992 remained her top year, winning 10 of her 11 races over 800m. After her Olympic triumph, she was plagued by various injuries. Her best result after 1992 was a 6th-place finish at the 1995 World Championships at Gothenburg. The ongoing injuries prevented her from defending her Olympic title in 1996.
The venue was listed as being able to hold 500 spectators and in 1947 had a totalisator turnover of £157,233 which was a large turnover for a small track. In the 1960s the track was all-grass and raced five dog races over 220 and 530 yards and had an inside rail hare system.
Seppala and St. Godard faced each other annually at the Eastern International Dog Derby in Quebec. Over six years, St. Godard would win the race four times, and Seppala twice. The duo also faced off in a variety of different races over the years, during which St. Godard won the majority of the races.
Goodbye Halo (February 12, 1985 – August 23, 2014) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. A daughter of the noted sire Halo, she won 10 graded stakes races over a race career spanning from ages two to four. Following her racing career, she was sent to Japan for broodmare duty and most notably produced the sire .
To cover distance races over the minimum, the fee is negotiated directly with the driver and can reach up to COP 20,000 (US$11.4) depending on the distance covered. Taxi service can also be contracted by the hour, COP 15,000 (US$7.58). Several private companies provide taxi service in the city, which can be ordered by telephone for safety.
The 2004 Elf Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season began at Thruxton on 10 April and finished after 20 races over 10 events at Donington Park on 26 September. The Championship was won by Paul Rivett driving for Boulevard Team Racing. The season was marred by the death of Kevin Lloyd at the May Thruxton meeting.

An interurban streetcar operated by the Detroit, Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor Railway, successor to the Ypsi-Ann, races over the Michigan Central Railroad east of Michigan Center. The Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Street Railway, known informally as the Ypsi-Ann, was an interurban railroad operating in southeastern Michigan; it was the first such operation in the state.
Grissom made his Busch Series debut in 1986 at the Freedlander 200, in the No. 31 Oldsmobile owned by his father. He started 16th but finished 30th due to engine failure. He ran three more races over the next two years, his best finish being an 11th. In 1988, he moved into the series full-time.

Dunkirk (1957 - 27 December 1965) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse. He won nine of his eighteen races over fences including a 20-length victory in the 1965 Two-Mile Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. The following season he died in the King George VI Chase. He was owned by Bill Whitbread and trained by Peter Cazalet.
In 1962 La Tendresse was not trained for the classics, being kept instead to sprint races over five furlongs. At Royal Ascot in June she ran in the King's Stand Stakes in which she finished second to the Vincent O'Brien- trained filly Cassarate. Her only success came at Goodwood a month later when she won the King George Stakes, beating Nerium and Caerphilly.
Max Edward "Ed" Berrier III (born November 8, 1961 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is a second-generation NASCAR driver. His father Max Berrier competed in seven Grand National races over four years, and won 125 feature races as a modified driver. His distant cousin Todd recently served as the crew chief for Jeff Burton in the Sprint Cup Series.
The UCI Track Cycling World Ranking is a track cycling ranking system based upon the results in all men's and women's UCI-sanctioned races over a twelve- month period. The ranking includes an individual and a nations ranking and includes the disciplines: individual pursuit, points race, scratch, sprint, time trial, keirin, omnium (since 2010–11), team pursuit, team sprint and madison (men only).
Despite his successes, he never received commercial sponsorship. In 1964, Scott finished 12th in points despite missing several races. Over the next five years, Scott consistently finished in the top ten in the point standings. He finished 11th in points in 1965, was a career-high 6th in 1966, 10th in 1967, and finished 9th in both 1968 and 1969.
The horse originally raced in Caine's ownership but from 1993 he carried the colours of Caine's daughter Karen Woodhead. Quixall Crossett was sired by Beverley Boy, a moderately successful racehorse who won several handicap races over long distances. Quixall Crossett's dam Grange Classic was a female-line descendant of the British broodmare Harpy (foaled 1921) making her a distant relative of Cigar.
A highlight of Small's career was his 1994 win of the $3 million Breeders' Cup Classic with Concern. Ridden by Jerry Bailey, the three-year-old colt was owned and bred by Robert Meyerhoff. Small won 1,199 races over a 40-year career, including the 1994 Breeders' Cup Classic. He died at his Monkton, Maryland home at the age of 68 in 2014.
Aslam Kader (born 9 December 1962, Mumbai, India) is a noted former Indian champion jockey. Kader has ridden over 1700 winning horses, including 75 wins in classic horse races over his two-decade career. Aslam Kader has won the jockeys Champion Jockeys title at all the racing centres in India. At the prestigious Bangalore centre, he has won it nine times.
Aston Martin participated as a Formula One constructor in and entering six races over the two years but failing to score any points. In January 2020, it was announced that the Racing Point F1 Team is due to be rebranded as Aston Martin for the 2021 season, as a result of a funding investment led by Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll.

The 1996 NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series consisted of 23 events, run at 19 race tracks in 11 states. Mike Cope won his second series championship, beating Toby Porter by 184 points.Kelly 1997, p.413. Morrissey collapsed after seventeen and a half miles and had to be carried from the field. He continued to enter professional races over the next two years without any notable successes. In later life he joined the Yonkers Police force, and worked his way up to the rank of Captain. He died in 1968 at the age of eighty at Yonkers.
Côté was the first francophone recipient of the award. Côté was also a three-time winner of the Yonkers Marathon and won three U.S. Amateur Athletic Union marathon championships. In 264 races over his career, Côté won 112 with 56 second-place finishes. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics but leg cramps held him to a 17th-place finish.
The seven race card featured races over 400 yards and the track was affiliated to the British Greyhound Tracks Control Society (BGTCS), the larger National Greyhound Racing Society. The first winner was 'Ballinadrimna' in a time of 27.90 secs. The chairman of the company was Sir Francis Curtis and he presented the silver cups and cash awards to all of the winners.
The 2010 Elf Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom with Michelin season began at Thruxton on 4 April and will finish after 20 races over 10 events at Brands Hatch on 10 October. Fifteen drivers from seven teams will take part throughout the season, mainly supporting rounds of the British Touring Car Championship but also supporting the UK round of the World Series by Renault.

Nilsson won nine individual World Cup races over the 2016–2017 season, finishing fourth in the Overall World Cup and second in the Sprint World Cup. She also finished overall-third in the Tour de Ski.
The series first driver's champion was Nicholas Belling of Canada driving a Firman RFR-F1000. The Manufacturer's Cup was won by Stohr Cars, who would go on to win the cup in 2011 and 2012. For 2011 the format was changed to ten races over five weekends at selected events (mostly SCCA national races) with points scored in all races. The format would be continue in 2012.

The skier with the most points after the three races on consecutive Sundays is crowned the "King of the Engadin Valley". In addition to skijoring, traditional flat and trotting races over different distances are held. Until recently visitor parking was also located on the lake, but this practice has since been prohibited. The first cricket tournament on the frozen lake took place in 1990.
Adcox continued to run sporadic Winston Cup races over the years. He qualified for the 1975 Talladega 500, but his crew chief Gene Lovell suffered a heart attack and died in their garage. Adcox's car was withdrawn, but he was able to find a substitute ride. However, the race was delayed for a week due to rain, and Adcox was again forced to withdraw.
The Tatling, (23 April 1997 - April 2017) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. A specialist sprinter, he was noted for his exceptional durability contesting 176 races over thirteen seasons between 1999 and 2011. During his racing career he had at least three different trainers, six owners, and thirty-six jockeys. He retired having won eighteen races and being placed on fifty-three other occasions.
The series consists of events in various European countries which feature two races over a weekend. Each weekend the series hosts two 55 minute races with two separate qualifying sessions determining the grid order. There is a mandatory pit stop with a minimum time that must be abided by. During this pit stop, only the driver change may occur if the car is a two driver entry.

Christine Ann Wellington (born 18 February 1977) is an English former professional triathlete and four-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion. She holds, or held, all three world and championship records relating to ironman- distance triathlon races: firstly, the overall world record, secondly, the Ironman World Championship course record (from 2009 until Mirinda Carfrae lowered it in 2013), and thirdly, the official world record for all Ironman- branded triathlon races over the full Ironman distance. She won the World Championship in three consecutive years (2007–2009), but could not start the 2010 World Championship race because of illness, then – while suffering from injuries so severe that her former coach Brett Sutton said she should "not even be on the start line" – regained the title in 2011. She is the first British athlete to hold the Ironman Triathlon World Championship, and was undefeated in all thirteen of her races over the ironman distance.
He represented England in the marathon, at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1972, he won the CAU 20 Miles Championships again, running 1:39:01, setting a British record. He currently holds the 20 miles British National, British Domestic and British All-Comers record for times set during a race over that distance, although faster intermediate marks have been set in races over longer distances.
It starts for the Auburn Ski Club. They played their first international cross-country races in 1999 and immediately gained in Quebec her first two races over 10 km freestyle and 5 km Classic. So far, they won ten races of the FIS and the Continental Cup. In 2004, she made her debut in Düsseldorf in the Cross-country skiing World Cup and became the 19th their first World Cup points.

The No. 1 truck made its CTS debut at the 2001 Florida Dodge Dealers 200. Ted Musgrave drove the Mopar sponsored Dodge to a 22nd-place finish after suffering water pump failure. Musgrave was able to recover and won seven races that season. Musgrave won two races over the next two years, and almost won the championship in 2003, but lost it after jumping a restart at the season finale.

Amounis was an Australian Thoroughbred Hall of Fame racehorse. He won 33 races over distances ranging from 6 to 12 furlongs (1,200 to 2,400 metres). Of these wins, 27 were in "Principal Races" (equivalent to today's Group races or "Black Type" races), 16 of these races have since been promoted to Group One (G1) status. In winning the AJC Epsom Handicap he established a new Australasian record time.
He and brother Leonard Wood co-founded the legendary Wood Brothers Racing team in 1953, and won four races over an eleven-year racing career. In 1998, he was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. In 1996, Wood was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame; he was also inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2012. Wood died on January 18, 2019 after a battle with illnesses.

Harris built a small model of the Atlas and dazzled an audience by sailing it across the so-called "Flag Pond" on the north side of town. Carlstrom took part in air races over the mountains of Peru, flying over the Andes at altitudes of 18,000 feet. During World War II, Carlstrom joined the Women Airforce Service Pilots, where she ferried "mainly pursuit aircraft". She served in the WASP for twenty-two months and was one of the few WASP pilots to fly a Lockheed P-38 Lightning airplane. She was stationed at Love Field in Texas.
Lynn Geisler is a dirt late model driver from Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania who is a member of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame. He has won over 200 late model races over a racing career spanning four decades. Mr. Geisler has been driving dirt late models in Western Pennsylvania since 1981. In 2011, Mr. Geisler raced at his two home tracks: Lernerville Speedway and PPMS.
He was ridden in the Doncaster by Bruce Compton, who gained the ride only after higher-profile jockeys had taken other mounts, with doubts over whether Super Impose would take his place in the field. This was Compton's first and only ride on the horse, but his tactics and the horse's 'amazing zip' provided a template for success in the big Randwick 'mile' races over the next 18 months.
Ken Bouchard defeated Ernie Irvan by 59 points to win the Rookie of the Year title in 1988, driving for Bob Whitcomb. Bouchard raced only eight more times in the Cup series over his career, while Irvan won fifteen races over the next twelve years (his first victory was in 1990). The only other contenders were USAC driver Brad Noffsinger and Jimmy Horton, both of whom ran part-time schedules that season.
Grand Flaneur was an outstanding Australian Thoroughbred racehorse and sire, who won nine successive races, including the AJC Derby, the Victoria Derby and the Melbourne Cup, before he retired undefeated. Count Pahlen was a grey horse bred in the United Kingdom by Tony Villar. He was sired by Hotfoot who won the Coronation Stakes and finished second in both the Irish 2000 Guineas and the Prince of Wales's Stakes. The best of his other progeny included Hot Grove (runner-up in The Derby) and Tachypous (Middle Park Stakes). Count Pahlen's dam Tanara showed some ability as a racehorse, winning four minor races over middle distances.
David Simko (born November 26, 1954 in Clarkston, Michigan) is a former NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver who participated in ten races over the course of six seasons. While failing to qualify in five different races, Simko managed to participate in 1472 laps – the equivalent of of top-level racing. His average starting position was 35th and his average finishing position was 32nd. Total career earnings for this driver was $17,220 ($ when adjusted for inflation).
Another difficulty was the length of the course. The standard distance for international women's races was at that time 1000 m. It was clear that races over the full Henley course (2112 m) would not be appealing to women's crews preparing for international championships. Peter Coni, who was elected as Chairman of the regatta's Committee of Management in 1978, was the first to allow women to race in exhibition races in 1983.
The 2008 Ginetta G50 Cup was the inaugural Ginetta G50 Cup season. The season began at Oulton Park on 24 March and finished after 20 races over 10 rounds at Donington Park on 12 October, supporting rounds of the British Formula 3 Championship and British GT Championship. Nigel Moore dominated the first year of the series, winning 14 races and finishing the season over 200 points ahead of runner up Frank Wrathall.
The Seoul International Marathon, also known as the Dong-A Ilbo Seoul Marathon or Seoul Marathon is an annual marathon race that takes place in Seoul, South Korea. Born in 1990, Kuddam was sent to trainer Dermot Weld in Ireland where she was placed four times for owner/breeder Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum. At the Tattersalls December sales in 1993 Kuddam was sold to Germany where she continued her race career. At four, five and seven years, Kuddam won three races and was placed another four times. She also won two races over jumps and was placed another seven times.
Briscoe finished over 100 points behind Franchitti, with a solitary victory at Texas. Andretti Autosport drivers Tony Kanaan and Ryan Hunter-Reay were the only other drivers to win a race, as they finished sixth and seventh respectively. Rookie of the Year went to Dale Coyne Racing driver Alex Lloyd who competed in his first full season, after three races over the previous two seasons. He finished 24 points ahead of Simona de Silvestro.
Bula (1965–1977) was a British National Hunt horse who won two Champion Hurdles and many other top races over hurdles and later over fences. He ran during what is considered a ‘golden period’ for two mile hurdlers in the 1970s, which featured such champions as Persian War, Comedy Of Errors, Night Nurse, Monksfield and Sea Pigeon. Bula was “a remarkably consistent, versatile and durable jumper” and was known for his come-from-behind style.
Although it seemed hopeful that Bula would recover from his injury, over the next two months his condition worsened until his whole leg was nearly paralysed. He was put down in May. Bula won 34 races over hurdles and fences and earned £69,672 over eight seasons of racing. Upon the announcement of his death, Cheltenham Racecourse announced that they had renamed the Cheltenham Trial Hurdle the Bula Hurdle in honour of the dual champion.
Mastercraftsman's career began in a six-furlong maiden at the Curragh in May 2008, where he won by half a length. He won two more races over 6 furlongs at the Curragh, the group 2 Railway stakes and group 1 Phoenix stakes. His second group 1 win came when stepped up in trip to 7 furlongs in the National Stakes. Edredon Bleu (26 April 1992 – 28 September 2018) was an AQPS National Hunt racehorse. He was bred in France but trained for most of his racing career in the United Kingdom. He was a specialist steeplechaser who recorded most of his wins over two and two-and-a-half miles, but was capable of winning major races over longer distances. In a ten-year racing career he ran fifty-seven times and won twenty-five races.
There is also a racehorse called Ballycassidy, named after the village, who was trained in Wales by Peter Bowen. The horse is notorious for a spectacular fall at Valentines Brook in the 2006 Grand National at Aintree. He won 16 races over his career and became a favourite with racing fans. He was retired from racing under rules in 2008, but did go on to race in Point to Points, ridden by the then amateur jockey Donal Devereux.
Puyo started out in karting before stepping up to Spanish Formula Three in 2001. However, he failed to impress in his 8 races over two years and moved to the Italian Formula Renault Championship in 2003, scoring 6 points in 8 races. Puyo was absent from motorsport until 2007, when he raced in the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa, finishing tenth in the standings. Jodami (6 April 1985 - 1 December 2008) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. A specialist steeplechaser, he ran thirty-nine time and won eighteen races in a career which lasted from March 1990 until February 1997. After winning five races over hurdles, Jodami switched to racing over fences in the autumn of 1991. In early 1993 he won four consecutive races, culminating with a win in Britain's most prestigious steeplechase, the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Little Wolf (foaled 23 March 1978) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was best known for his performances in staying races, but was also capable of winning important races over middle distances. Little Wolf was lightly campaigned, running sixteen times between October 1980 and May 1984 and winning seven races. After winning his only race as a two-year-old he won two of his five races including the Scottish Derby and St Simon Stakes in 1981.
The Arctic Midnight Orienteering or the AMO is an annual orienteering event usually held in the last week of June at Ilulissat. In 1974, Persian War was being trained to run in the County Hurdle, when a bruised leg spelled his retirement at age eleven. From fifty-one races over hurdles, he won eighteen races and was second and third nine times each. He retired to Genesis Green Stud, where he lived until his death in 1984 aged 21. His heart is buried beneath a headstone raised by Henry Alper who also co- authored a book on Persian War.
Bolkonski was retired from racing to become a breeding stallion at the Haras du Val Henry in Normandy. He had little success as a sire of winners, the best of his progeny being Glifahda, a filly who won several races over sprint distances including the Prix de Seine-et-Oise, Prix de Saint-Georges and Prix du Gros Chêne. He was also the sire of Restless Girl, who produced the Prix de Diane winner Resless Kara.
Herring Burl "H. B." Bailey (November 15, 1936 – April 17, 2003) was a NASCAR driver. He raced his No. 36 Pontiac part-time as an independent driver in the Grand National/Winston Cup series from 1962 to 1993, making 85 races over his career. Although he never ran a full schedule, he still had his share of fans. He had the distinction of being the first driver to take a qualifying lap for the inaugural Brickyard 400 in 1994.

King Persian (14 June 1981 – after 1999) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. As a two-year-old in 1983 he won a minor race on his debut and then recorded whis biggest win in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. He was unplaced in his only other start that season and made little impact in three subsequent races over the next two years. After his retirement he had some success as a sire of National Hunt horses.

Porsche's Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber, and Brendon Hartley won the World Drivers' Championship in the final round of the season, ahead of Audi's André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer, and Marcel Fässler. Porsche teammates Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas, and Neel Jani were third in the championship standings. Bernhard, Webber, and Hartley won four consecutive races over the course of the season.
After starting just three races with the team, he had a one-off drive for Lotus at the 1965 South African Grand Prix, moving instead to sports cars. British-born Dave Charlton moved to South Africa when he was young. He started 11 races over eight years starting from 1967, most of which were in South Africa. Otis Mason Martin (March 1, 1918 - November 21, 1955) was an American stock car racing driver. One of the pioneers of the NASCAR Grand National Series, he competed in 23 races over the first six years of the sport, with a best finish of sixth; he finished fifth in a non-sanctioned event in October 1949. Flakey Dove ran thirteen times in her championship season: according to Price the mare thrived on a busy racing schedule. She began by recording her first win in a flat race when she won a maiden event at Nottingham. She was beaten in her next four races over hurdles but never finished worse than fourth. In January 1994, Flakey Dove entered contention for the Champion Hurdle with a win in the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock Park.

Michael J. Kinane (born 22 June 1959, Killenaule, County Tipperary) is an Irish former flat racing jockey. A prolific winner of the Irish, English and French Classic races over two decades, Kinane has ridden winners in the 2,000 Guineas four times, The Derby three times, the Melbourne Cup in Australia and, in the United States, the Belmont Stakes once.
Tulyar began his racing career by finishing unplaced in a race at Newmarket in Spring and then ran third in a race at Ascot in July. In August he was sent to York where he finished unplaced in the Acomb Stakes. In autumn, Tulyar was moved up in distance and won two races over one mile, taking Nursery Handicaps at Haydock and Birmingham. On his final appearance of the season, he finished second in the Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury.
A greyhound track was constructed by the Shirebrook Greyhound Racing Company around the football ground to serve the local mining community. The stadium opened on 30 July 1932 and was independent (not affiliated to the sports governing body the National Greyhound Racing Club). Handicap races were popular and the track also held an unusual form of seven dog racing. The track continued to trade through World War II and had totalisator facilities to bet on the races over 230, 300 and 400 yards.

The first Italian Grand Prix motor racing championship took place on 4 September 1921 at a 10.7-mile (17.3 km) circuit near Montichiari, which had been the site of the Gordon Bennett races in the early 1900s. Roman Hackle (foaled 1933) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1940 Cheltenham Gold Cup. After winning several races over hurdles he was switched to steeplechasing in 1939 and made an immediate impact by winning the Broadway Novices' Chase. In the following year he won the Gold Cup as a seven- year-old but did not build on his early promise. In two subsequent bids for the Gold Cup he ran poorly when favourite in 1941 and fell in 1942.

In the early part of 1978, Homing showed unremarkable form, and was beaten in his first four races. In June, he was moved up in distance and won the Bass Clubman's Handicap at Haydock Park Racecourse from Spring To Mind, Portese and Fool's Prayer. He then dropped back in distance and won handicap races over a mile at York and Haydock. In August he was allotted top weight in the Rose of York Handicap, but finished ninth of the fifteen runners behind Petronisi.

Poseidon (19 August 1903 - 3 February 1930) was an Australian Thoroughbred Hall of Fame racehorse. He won 19 races over distances ranging from five furlongs to three miles. Sixteen of these wins were "Principal Races" (equivalent to today's "Black Type" races), eight of them now of Group 1 (G1) status. As a three-year-old in 1906/07, Poseidon had 14 starts for 11 wins, including the Caulfield Cup (in race record time), Melbourne Cup, Victoria Derby and AJC Derby.
The UCI Women's Road Rankings is a system of ranking road bicycle racers based upon the results in all women's UCI-sanctioned races over a twelve-month period. The world rankings were first instituted by the UCI in 1994. Points are awarded according to finishing positions in each race, with lesser points for each stage of stage races and for wearing the race leader's jersey. The road races at the Olympics and Road World Championships are worth the most points.
Cawston's Pride was a tall, powerful chestnut mare with a narrow white blaze bred by her owner Len Hall at his stud near Rugby in Warwickshire. She was sired by Con Brio, a son of Ribot, who stood as a stallion in Europe before being exported to Argentina in 1967. Her dam, Cawston Tower won six races over sprint distances and produced several other winners. Hall sent the filly into training with Wiliam Farnham "Freddie" Maxwell at Lambourn in Berkshire.

On 15 August 2013 in Moscow, she became World Champion over 400 m Hurdles with a new Czech record (52.83 NR).
But Why Not did not run as a two-year-old. In 1947, she ran in eleven races over ten months and won most of them. After breaking her maiden and winning an allowance race, she ran in the Empire City Stakes in early April at the old Jamaica Race Course in New York, where she placed second to Phalanx at 9.5 furlongs. She rested for six weeks and then competed in the $25,000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (then called the Pimlico Oaks) on May 16, 1947.
As a two-year-old, Process Shot won eight of nine races over eight months, including six stakes races. She broke her maiden in May 1968 and wheeled back to win her second race in an allowance race at Philadelphia Park in Pennsylvania in June. In July, she won the Polly Drummond Stakes at Delaware Park Racetrack at five furlongs in a time of 0:58.40. The first weekend of August, she won the 5.5 furlong Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park in New Jersey.
He was classified as finishing second in the 1956 British Grand Prix, though he had given up his car to Peter Collins whose own Ferrari suffered a mechanical failure. Emilio de Villota was entered for 14 races over four seasons but only qualified for two of them. Both races were with McLaren in 1977 and de Villota was unable to finish higher than 13th place. His daughter, María de Villota, was a Formula One test driver but did not compete at a race weekend.
Remittance Man (foaled 13 April 1984) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who competed under National Hunt rules. He was noted for his consistency, excellent jumping and nervous temperament. Between December 1988 and April 1990 he competed in hurdle races, and showed promise by winning two of his twelve races including the Grade 2 Bristol Novices' Hurdle and never finishing worse than third. When switched to compete in steeplechases he showed immediate improvement and won thirteen of his first fourteen races over fences.
Sabirli (in Turkish Sabırlı) (April 9, 2001 - 15 September 2010) was a Turkish racehorse and sire. Sabirli was noted for his toughness on the turf winning twenty-six of his fifty-one races over seven seasons from 2003 to 2009. In 2006 he became one of the few Turkish-trained Thoroughbreds to compete successfully abroad when he won a race in Dubai. In the following season he defeated an international field to win Turkey's most valuable race, the Topkapi Trophy at Veliefendi Race Course in Istanbul.
Soon after Laycock sailed for England, and lost no time in arranging several races over the Thames Championship Course, from Putney to Mortlake. On 5 October 1880, he easily beat T. Blackman. On 2 November he conquered George H. Hosmer, on 6 November he defeated J. H. Riley, and 13 November he received forfeit from J. Hawdon. Also in 1880, Laycock won the Hop Bitters Regatta on the Thames for a £400 purse against other leading world scullers except Hanlan, who was by then the world champion.
Brewco Motorsports was a racing team that competed in the NASCAR Busch Series (now the Xfinity Series). The team was owned from 1995 until 2007 by Clarence Brewer, his wife Tammy, and Todd Wilkerson. The team won 10 races over 13 seasons in the Busch Series, and entered a single NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race in 2004. The team was sold to Mike Curb and Gary Baker with nine races left in the 2007 season, with both Brewco entries becoming part of Baker-Curb Racing.
Three years later, the RBYC and the Cruising Club of America teamed up to host the race. Since 1923 to this day, the task of inspecting boats, arranging for trophies, the starting and finishing lines, and maintaining the race’s emphasis on safe seamanship falls on volunteer members of both clubs. In 45 races over a century, only two boats have been lost, one on Bermuda’s reef, and the other in a deadly fire in 1932 that also claimed the Bermuda Race’s only loss of life.
Grace-Ann Dinkins (born September 13, 1966) also known as Gracie-Ann Dinkins or Grace Dinkins, is an Olympic-class track and field athlete from the USA who competes for Liberia, her parents' home country, in the 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m races. Over her competitive career, she became the record-holder for those distances in Liberia. She was the first woman to represent Liberia at the Olympics. Dinkins competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics for Liberia in the 100 m race.
In athletics and track and field, sprints (or dashes) are races over short distances. They are among the oldest running competitions, being recorded at the Ancient Olympic Games. Three sprints are currently held at the modern Summer Olympics and outdoor World Championships: the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. At the professional level, sprinters begin the race by assuming a crouching position in the starting blocks before driving forward and gradually moving into an upright position as the race progresses and momentum is gained.
In January 1994 continued his good form in Dubai, winning races over 2400 metres and 1800 metres. On 13 February he contested the inaugural running of the second round of the Al Maktoum Challenge over 2000 metres at Nad Al Sheba. Ridden by Gary Hind he won by a short head from his stablemate Red Bishop. In the third round of the challenge over 2400 metres twelve days later, with Hind again in the saddle, he recorded another narrow victory with Red Bishop again taking second place.
Donau (1907–1913) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and was the winner of the 1910 Kentucky Derby. Donau was known for his often temperamental and difficult personality, which led to him being gelded at the end of 1910. Donau started in 111 races over his three-year flat racing career and was in the process of being retrained for steeplechasing when he died at the age of six years in February 1913 at the Nashville farm of his owner William Gerst of the William Gerst Brewing Company.
The finish of a women's 100 m race Races over short distances, or sprints, are among the oldest running competitions. The first 13 editions of the Ancient Olympic Games featured only one event, the stadion race, which was a race from one end of the stadium to the other. Sprinting events are focused around athletes reaching and sustaining their quickest possible running speed. Three sprinting events are currently held at the Olympics and outdoor World Championships: the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres.
Lochangel is a chestnut mare with a white star and two white socks bred by her owner, Jeff Smith's Littleton Stud. She was sired by the American-bred stallion Night Shift, a son of Northern Dancer. Night Shift sired many other good racehorses in a long stud career, including In The Groove, Azamour, Well Chief, Barons Pit (Diadem Stakes) and Nicolotte (Queen Anne Stakes). Lochangel's dam Peckitt's Well was a useful racemare who won five races over sprint distances and was rated 98 by Timeform in 1985.
The programme remained unchanged, with senior men's races over 20 km and 50 km, a 20 km senior women's race, and junior category events for both sexes over 10 km. However, following the approval by the IAAF of the women's 50 km walk as an official event, for the first time women were permitted to enter the 50 km. A separate women's 50 km was not scheduled, but women were allowed to enter the men's event and were treated as equal competitors for team scoring.
Clare Boat Club organises an annual regatta in November for novice College crews.Clare Novices' Regatta site It is run as a side-by-side regatta for eights, with a series of knockout races over a course of approximately 800m. In 2012, Clare Novice Men's 1st VIII not only won Clare Novice Regatta but also triumphed in Queens' Ergs and Emma Sprints. This was the first time in Clare Boat Club's history that a Men's VIII had won all three of these novice competitions in the same year.
Things then turned around for him and Penske, winning 25 races over the next four years, despite never winning the championship. The team switched from Pontiac to Ford in 1994. The season finale at Atlanta Motor Speedway and the entire 1996 season saw a small change when the popular Miller Genuine Draft paint scheme was replaced with a red, blue and yellow splashed scheme that advertised the Miller brand. After winning five races that season, Wallace donned the blue and white colors of Miller Lite in 1997.
Kimi Räikkönen made his Formula One debut with Sauber before he secured a seat at McLaren, replacing compatriot Mika Häkkinen. His second season with the team was very successful and Räikkönen took ten podium finishes on the way to second place in the Drivers' Championship. After three further seasons with McLaren, during which he had mixed results, he moved to Ferrari, replacing Michael Schumacher. Räikkönen won the 2007 title, his first year with the team, but he only won three races over the following two years.

Cresta Run (1924 - after 1930) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old in 1926 she showed steady improvement, winning two of her i races including the valuable Imperial Produce Stakes. On her three-year-old debut she recorded a very impressive win in the 1000 Guineas but failed to reproduce her form in two subsequent races over longer distances. She had little immediate success as a broodmare but had a long-term influence on the breed though her daughter Gold Race.
Originally known as the Carnegie Amateur Cycling club, the club traces its history back over 100 years. Early races were typically handicap races over 10–60-mile road courses, often starting at the Rosstown Hotel before making their way along Dandenong Road. The club also played a big part in the local community, in particular through its support for the Oakleigh Carnival. Around this time, the club formalised the first incarnation of its junior program recorded in 1931 after early success in the Victoria Club Premierships.

One of Cancellara's main rivals in classics races over his career was Tom Boonen (), who had won Paris–Roubaix on four occasions in the past.
On 6 October 1932 Boundary Park opened under the promotion of the National Greyhounds Norwich Ltd and racing would take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Advertised as the 'wonder stadium' the opening night consisted of seven races over various distances. The first race was at 7.45pm and admission was either in the 2 shillings 6 pence enclosure or 1 shilling enclosure. There was covered accommodation for over 4,000 people, an all-electric totalisator with the entire furnishing of the stadium carried out by the Curl Brothers Ltd of Norwich.
Integral is a bay filly bred by Cheveley Park Stud and foaled on 13 March 2010. She was sired by Dalakhani, who was named Cartier Horse of the Year in 2003 after wins in the Prix Lupin, Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. As a breeding stallion his offspring have included Conduit, Duncan and Reliable Man. Integral's dam is Echelon, who won a number of Group races over her four-season racing career, including a Group 1 victory in the Matron Stakes in 2007.
Ash Blewett finished in third place in the series, 52 points in arrears of McNee and 118 of Alexander. He won four races over the course of the season, including a double at Pukekohe. The other drivers to win races were Marcus Armstrong, who won races at each of the first three race meetings, Matt Gibson won the opening race at Taupo, en route to fifth in the championship, while Cassidy won a third race at Teretonga, the only round in which he was eligible for championship points.
At the 2005 German Grand Prix, he joined fellow Dutch driver Christijan Albers at Minardi, who debuted earlier that year as the team's regular driver. In , Doornbos was appointed Friday test and reserve driver at Red Bull Racing, and would replace Christian Klien for the last 3 races of the season. Silviniaco Conti (14 April 2006 – 9 April 2018) was a French-bred, British- trained Selle Français racehorse who competed in National Hunt races. After winning several important races over hurdles he emerged as a leading long- distance steeplechaser in 2012. After winning both his races in his native country, the horse won his first three races in England, culminating with a success in the two and a half mile Ascot Hurdle. After running poorly over shorter distances he was ruled out of a bid for the Champion Hurdle and was switched to steeplechasing.
Veandercross showed immediate promise in the 1991-1992 New Zealand racing season when as a three-year-old he won his first three races including two listed events. He then ran second in the Wanganui Guineas to the front running Lodore Lady before winning the Okawa Guineas at Hastings. He was narrowly defeated twice at Trentham, in the Wellington Guineas trial (½ length) and the Wellington Guineas (by a head to Solvit). He easily won the New Zealand 2000 Guineas and the Bayer Classic (now called the Levin Classic) - both G1 races over 1,600 metres.

The 33rd Annual Narbona Pass Classic, formerly the Washington Pass Classic, was held on 1 July 2012. There were three events: a non-competitive fitness walk, a run and a run. The 10 km race, among the top 100 races over this distance in the United States, is held every year on the 4th of July weekend. In 2000, almost all of the 400 or more competitors in the very demanding race were local, supported by their family and friends with a relaxed outdoor barbecue environment around the finish line.
Hollandoise was foaled in 1775 at the farm of her breeder, Thomas Stapleton, at Carleton near Snaith, Yorkshire. She was sired by the Thoroughbred foundation stallion Matchem, the principal progenitor of the Godolphin Arabian sire line and a sire known for "gameness and soundness." Virago was a daughter of the Panton Grey Arabian, an imported stallion owned by the jockey Thomas Panton that stood at Newmarket. Virago was a successful racehorse in the 1760s that won races over long distances, including multiple King's Plates, before she was retired to Stapleton and Gascoigne's stud.
Bolkonski (foaled 1972) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Originally trained in Italy, the colt moved to England for the 1975 season where he recorded an upset victory over Grundy in the classic 2000 Guineas at Newmarket Racecourse. He went on to win two other major British races over one mile, the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot and the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. At the end of the season he was retired to stud where he had limited success as a sire of winners.
World Approval made two starts at age two, finishing fourth on October 16, 2014 at Belmont Park and third on November 26 at Aqueduct, both races over the main (dirt) track. He made his three-year-old debut on the turf March 14, 2015 at Gulfstream Park, winning the race with a late outside run by lengths. In his stakes debut on April 4, he won the Sophomore Turf Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. After two losses, he was shipped to Arlington Park where he won his first graded stakes, the American Derby.
Immediately after his final race, owner Michael O'Leary paid glowing tribute to War Of Attrition by saying "apart from the birth of my children, this horse has given me the best days of my life". The grade-one, three-mile novices' hurdle run at the Punchestown Festival was named in honour of the horse in 2012. War Of Attrition ran 34 times, winning 14, including three grade-one races, over £700,000 in prize money and ranks as one of Ireland's best and most consistent chasers from the first decade of the twenty-first century.
Bernstein led from the start, and went clear of his opponents, but suddenly weakened inside the final furlong and was passed by the 50/1 outsider Murawwi. Sinndar, who had been apparently struggling to make an impression, began to stay on strongly, catching first Bernstein and then Murawwi to win the Group One prize by a head. After the race, Oxx characterised the horse as "tough and very honest" whilst the Aga Khan expressed his view that Sinndar had the potential to win more important races over longer distances.
He had looked unlikely to compete that year after breaking his neck in a road accident, but finished the season with three points. In 1986, he drove for Benetton and won his first race in Mexico. Berger's first stint with Ferrari began in 1987, winning four races over the next three years. 1989 proved to be a terrible year with only three finishes from 15 and so Berger moved to McLaren to partner Ayrton Senna. During his three years with the team, he secured 18 podiums including three wins.
Dead Certain was a bay mare with no white markings bred in the United Kingdom by Fulke Johnson Houghton. She was sired by Absalom, a grey sprinter who won the Cornwallis Stakes in 1977, the Haydock Sprint Cup in 1978 and the Diadem Stakes in 1979. The best of Absalom's other progeny was probably Absalom's Lady, a leading National Hunt mare who won the Christmas Hurdle in 1994. Dead Certain's dam Sirnelta won three races over middle distances and produced several other winners including Fire Top, who won twelve races.
Donau spent much of his early racing career in California. Donau started 41 times as a two-year-old, which was considered excessive by many horsemen, even at a time when racehorses were normally raced hard at a very young age. Donau's first major stakes win was the 1909 Wakefield Stakes, run at the Empire City Race Track in Yonkers, where he also started in three other races over a period of eight days. After winning the Wakefield Stakes on July 22, trainer James Blute decided the colt needed to be rested.
This evolved into what is now known as the XTRI world tour although many other non- affiliated races of similar format exist around the world. In 2019 Norseman will host the first XTRI world championship which athletes are eligible for by qualification at the previous years XTRI world tour races. The number of participants is limited to a certain number of competitors typically 250 and entry via a ballot system can be very difficult to attain. Many athletes have tried and failed gain entry to races over many years.
Unusually, the racecourse is not a circuit but is roughly "U"-shaped with chutes for the start of sprint races over five, six and seven furlongs. The Derby course features an ascent to the top of the hill followed by a wide, sweeping left turn (Tattenham Corner) as the horses descend towards the straight. The half-mile straight is mainly downhill, with a final sharp ascent in the last hundred yards. The predominantly downhill nature of the straight means that times for the sprint races tend to be much faster than those on flatter tracks.
On January 22, 2015, Gordon announced the upcoming season would be his final as a full-time Cup Series driver. 3M signed on to sponsor the No. 24 for 11 races over three seasons, joining AARP and Axalta as primary sponsors. Gordon raced his famous rainbow paint scheme for the final time in the 2015 Irwin Tools Night Race; a loose wheel resulted in a 26th-place finish. Gordon secured a spot in the championship round by winning at Martinsville, breaking a 39-race winless streak in what would be his final Cup Series victory.

In June 2017, the series made its debut on an oval track at Texas Motor Speedway, running as a support event for IndyCar's Rainguard Water Sealers 600. Although stadiums decreased in hosting races over time, SST continued to occasionally race in such venues. For instance, in July 2017, the first Chinese-based SST event was held with Monster Jam at Beijing National Stadium.
Affirmed (February 21, 1975 – January 12, 2001) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was the eleventh winner of the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Affirmed was also known for his famous rivalry with Alydar, whom he met ten times, including in all three Triple Crown races. Affirmed was the last horse to win the Triple Crown for a 37-year period, which was ended in 2015 by American Pharoah. Affirmed won fourteen Grade I stakes races over his career and was a champion each of the three years he raced.
The racing at all three tracks was independent (not affiliated to the sports governing body the National Greyhound Racing Club) known as flapping tracks, which was the nickname given to independent tracks. The Coggeshall Road site opposite the junction with Marlborough Street opened on 6 September 1930, while the Notley Road site opposite the Angel public house (on land now covered by Kenworthy Road) raced every Monday and Wednesday at 7pm and Saturday at 3pm. The track was operating on 20 February 1932 with races over 475 yards, the proprietor was T H Mooring.
Alan May wrote in Sydney Rows magazine that it was "a race that was said to have excited more interest than any other event that has ever happened in the sporting world of Australia." Some fifty thousand people were said to have witnessed the race. Trickett won several non-title races over the next couple of years and earned enough money to buy a hotel. He became licensee of Trickett's Hotel and later became the proprietor of the International Hotel which was located on the corner of Pitt and King Streets in Sydney.
The 2014 Auto GP Series was the fifth year of the Auto GP, and the fifteenth season of the former Euroseries 3000. The championship began on 13 April in Marrakech, Morocco and finished on 19 October at the Autódromo do Estoril, after eight double-header rounds. Despite missing two rounds during the season, Euronova Racing driver Kimiya Sato was crowned champion, after winning six races over the course of the season. Sato won the championship by 14 points over Tamás Pál Kiss, who was a three-time race winner during the 2014 season.
Marty Houston finished the season in the No. 82, with a best finish of 14th. At the end of the 2000 season, SABCO's Busch equipment was sold to HighLine Performance Group (later FitzBradshaw Racing), owned by Sabates' son-in-law Armando Fitz. The Busch Series program was restarted by CGR from 2004 to 2008, run primarily to develop drivers including Reed Sorenson, David Stremme, Dario Franchitti, and Bryan Clauson. The team won eight races over the five year stretch, but shut down following CGR's merger with Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
The series consists of events in various European countries which feature two races over a weekend. Each weekend the series hosts two 25 minute races plus one lap with two separate qualifying sessions determining the grid order. Teams may run one driver over the entire weekend or split the car between two drivers with one driver running the first qualifying session and race and the other running the second. The FIA GT1 World Championship held races in ten countries, with each event consisting of two races over a weekend. Qualifying involved a knock-out system similar to Formula One, in which three sessions were held and following each session, the slowest cars were eliminated and their grid positions set. The first race of each weekend was a qualifying race, the results of which determined the starting grid for a second race awarding full championship points. Each car was required to change tires and drivers at least once during each race.

Entering 2011, it was announced that Frank Stoddard would be starting his own team, FAS Lane Racing, with Labonte driving the No. 32 U.S. Chrome-sponsored Ford Fusion in the Daytona 500. Labonte started forty-third and finished a respectable fifteenth. At the time, Labonte was semi-retired, but competed in seven additional races over the course of the year in the No. 32. He returned to Stoddard's 32 car in 2012 where he would run all four restrictor plate races with C&J; Energy Services as the sponsor.
For example, champion hurdler Hurricane Fly won a then-record 22 Grade One races over his ten-year career. Most race horses and race winners are male horses (either intact males or geldings). While male and female horses do not exhibit sexual dimorphism as obviously as human athletes, male horses are considered more aggressive racers and generally have a significant competitive advantage. At the highest level of racing though, intact males have great economic value at stud, so they are often retired after only a few years of racing.
In 1886, he became Master of Foxhounds for the western division of Cumberland. He continued to maintain the Cumberland Foxhounds at his own expense and became Master of all of Cumberland in 1909, a position he maintained until his death. He became a regular rider at the Cumberland Point-to-Point steeple chasing events, where riders rode races over 4 miles of open countryside, jumping in excess of 20 fences. Lawson had a peculiar style, appearing to ride by balance, sitting upright in cavalry fashion, which may have accounted for several of his falls.
C.R. Crews is a retired American race car driver from Dallas, Texas. An early graduate of a Dallas prep school, he competed in the Indy Racing League's development system, winning the first Formula Mazda race he entered at age 14. He then ran eleven races over three seasons for four different teams in the Indy Lights championship, most prominently with Michael Crawford Motorsports during 2007. At the time of his debut he was the youngest driver ever to compete in what was then called the Indy Pro Series.
In the Coronation Stakes (run that year at York) she was made 7/2 favourite but came home seventh of the ten runners in a race won by Maids Causeway. After two races over one mile Damson was dropped back in distance for the Sprint Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh on 7 August. After being restrained towards the rear of the field she moved up into second place but faded badly in final furlong and finished ninth. On 29 August 2005 it was announced that Damson would not race again.
In the King George VI Chase, he was well clear of the field when he started to slow, allowing Arkle to gain on him. Dunkirk crashed through a fence while Arkle was trying to match strides with him. He broke his neck in the fall, but a vet's report stated that he had suffered from the equine flu and his lungs were full of blood; therefore, he was dying before he took off at that final fence. In total, he won nine of his eighteen races over fences.
Crusade was ridden in his first three starts by Colm O'Donoghue. For his racecourse debut the colt was sent to England for a maiden races over seven furlongs at York Racecourse on 19 August. Starting as a 33/1 outsider he made some progress in the second half of the race but then faded inside the final furlong and finished eighth of the seventeen runners, more than eleven lengths behind the winner Rugged Cross. Nine days later the colt started 5/2 favourite against fifteen opponents in a maiden over six furlongs at the Curragh.
Nomadic Way made his only appearance as a two- year-old when finishing ninth in a sixteen-runner maiden race over one mile at Warwick Racecourse in October. In their annual Racehorses of 1987, Timeform commented that he was "sure to improve". In 1988, Nomadic Way finished fourth two in maiden races over eleven and a half furlongs at Bath Racecourse before being moved up in distance. At Beverley Racecourse on 14 June, ridden by Richard Hills, he recorded his first success in a two-mile handicap race, winning by three lengths.
His younger brother Jules served one term in the Alaska House of Representatives as a Republican from 1967 to 1969. Another brother, Gareth, also ran for office, but was better known as the patriarch of a family of sprint dog mushers and as a frequent rival to George Attla in numerous races over the years. This rivalry was featured in the 1979 movie Spirit of the Wind. Don Wright is the great-uncle of Ramy Brooks, a dog musher who has been active in long-distance dog racing since the 1990s.
Historically, attendees of 3000-5000 spectators were a regular occurrence with the largest recorded attendance reaching 8,000 on August 4, 1952 to see world champion Reg Harris in action. Bank Holiday open race meetings were a regular occurrence, typically organised by Brighton Cyclist Club, Brighton Stanley Wanderers Cycling Club or Brighton Mitre Cycling Club, which would feature handicaps and scratch races over half mile, 1 mile and 3 mile distances, often with some athletics races alongside. Some sources put bank holiday race attendances as high as 10,000 spectators.
La Collina (foaled 24 April 2009) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old in 2011 she won a minor race on her debut and went on to record a 33/1 upset win over a strong field in the Phoenix Stakes. She failed to win in eleven races over the next two years before springing another surprise when taking the 2013 Matron Stakes at odds of 25/1. Apart from her wins, she was placed in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, Silver Flash Stakes, Blue Wind Stakes, Gladness Stakes and Abu Dhabi Stakes.
The village also has a cricket team, the ground is in the centre of the village opposite the White Hart pub and Tufnell Hall. A short lived greyhound racing track was opened in the spring of 1930 on the main Braintree-Chelmsford Road. The racing on Friday evenings was independent (not affiliated to the sports governing body the National Greyhound Racing Club) and was known as a flapping track, which was the nickname given to independent tracks. The grass track held races over 550 yards races and had a covered stand with refreshments available on site.
Four championships came in the ABR (American Bicycle Racing) National Championships in the Masters Division. In 1981, Emery set a world mark for the fastest average speed in races over 100 miles by winning the 10th stage of the Tour of Chile in 3h 33min 25 sec for the 174 km (108 miles), a 30.2 mph average speed. This mark, which was the fastest in the world up to that point for amateurs and professional cyclists, stood for about 15 years. When he was active on the international cycling circuit, he competed in a total of 19 countries.
Un de Sceaux was unbeaten in five races over hurdles in the 2013/14 National Hunt season. He began the season by winning by twenty-nine lengths at Thurles Racecourse in December and followed up at Navan Racecourse three weeks later coming home more than fifty lengths clear of his two opponents. In February he was moved up in class to contest the Grade 2 Red Mills Trial Hurdle on heavy ground at Gowran Park. Starting at odds of 1/14 he led from the start as usual won very easily by sixteen lengths from Midnight Game.
The women's individual pursuit at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on August 17 at the Laoshan Velodrome. The first round of this track cycling event consisted of head-to-head races over a 3000 m distance, but with the results being treated as time trial results rather than elimination rounds. The top eight times from the first round qualified the cyclists for the elimination round, and either or both of the cyclists in each first round race could move on. In the match round, the eight cyclists were paired off according to the seeding from the first round.
Chelsea Rose (foaled 11 February 2002) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. In a track career which lasted from June 2004 until September 2006 she raced in four different countries and won five races over distances ranging from six furlongs to one and a half miles. She showed very promising form as a juvenile in 2004 when she won two of her three races including the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. In the following year she failed in the Irish Oaks, her principal objective but recorded victories in the Silver Stakes, Ballyroan Stakes and Dance Design Stakes.
Play On competed in six races over seven months in 1984 as a three-year-old. He broke his maiden at Aqueduct Racetrack in his second attempt and followed that up with a second in allowance company. In his fourth lifetime start, his connections decided to take a big step up in class and entered him in a graded stakes race: the one- turn, one-mile Withers Stakes, which he won in 1:36.40 under jockey Jean-Luc Samyn at Aqueduct Racetrack. Three weeks later, his trainer took a shot at the second jewel of the Triple Crown.
For 2013, the team continued competition with their HPD ARX-03a for the first three rounds before moving to the updated -03c for the remainder of the season. For the first three races, the team faced serious competition from the Swiss Rebellion Racing team. After losing out at the season opening 12 Hours of Sebring the team claimed the next two races at Long Beach and Laguna Seca. With Rebellion Racing withdrawing their full season entry to focus on 2014 plans, the Muscle Milk team won the next six races over the Dyson Racing squad and claimed the Teams' and Drivers' Championships.
Fleeting Spirit is a retired, Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who was trained in the United Kingdom during a racing career which lasted from 2007 to 2010. She was a specialist sprinter, running all of her races over five and six furlongs. Fleeting Spirit was the highest-rated British-trained two-year- old filly of 2007 and went on to win the Group Two Temple Stakes at Haydock in 2008 and the Group One July Cup in 2009. In the last named year she was awarded the title of European Champion Sprinter at the Cartier Racing Awards.
Pasty began her three-year-old season in the Fred Darling Stakes over seven furlongs at Newbury Racecourse in April in which she finished fourth behind Rowantree, Solar and Manilata. In the 1000 Guineas over the Rowley Mile course at Newmarket, Pasty started 12/1 second favourite but made little impression, finishing twentieth of the twenty-five runners behind the French-trained favourite Flying Water. At Royal Ascot she again ran poorly, finishing last of the eight runners behind Kesar Queen. She was then dropped in class but did not recover her form, finishing unplaced in two handicap races over six furlongs.
Ahonoora (1975-1989) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that lasted from 1977 to 1979 he ran twenty times and won seven races. Ahonoora was a sprinter who specialised in races over five and six furlongs, with his most important wins coming in the Stewards's Cup at Goodwood and the Group Two William Hill Sprint Championship (now a Group One race) at York. He is primarily notable for his achievements at stud, where his progeny, including Dr Devious, Park Express and Indian Ridge, made him one of the most significant modern representatives of the Byerley Turk sire line.
After finishing second and third in minor races over five and six furlongs respectively, Connaught Bridge recorded her first win over seven furlongs in August, beating eleven opponents when odds-on favourite for a maiden race at Great Yarmouth Racecourse. When moved up in distance for a Nursery (a Handicap race for two-year-olds) over one mile at Doncaster Racecourse she was beaten a neck by the colt Messenger of Peace. On her final appearance of the season the filly was moved up in distance and defeated twenty opponents in a minor event over nine furlongs at Wolverhampton Racecourse in October.
The 2011 and 2012 races each yielded two deaths, including one each at Becher's Brook. In 2013, when further changes were made to introduce a more flexible fence structure, there were no fatalities in the race itself although two horses died in run-up races over the same course. The animal welfare charity League Against Cruel Sports counts the number of horse deaths over the three-day meeting from the year 2000 to 2013 at 40. There were no equine fatalities in the main Grand National race for seven years until 2019, when one horse died at the first fence.
Unraced as a two-year-old, Gravelines made his debut in the summer of 1975, winning minor races over 1600 metres and 1500 metres. He was then moved up in class for the Prix Messidor over 1600 metres on 24 July at Deauville Racecourse. Ridden by Robert Jallu he started at odds of 15/1 and finished out of the first ten in a race won by Son of Silver. After another minor win he contested the Group Three Prix du Pin over 1400 metres at Longchamp Racecourse in September and finished unplaced behind Northern Taste.
Without warning, she rips the tights from Lucie's legs and runs off, claiming she needs them urgently. The 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship season was the last European Touring Car Championship season. For 2005, the European Championship would become the World Touring Car Championship, and a one-off European Touring Car Cup would be held. The season began at Monza on 28 March, and finished at Dubai after twenty races over ten meetings. The Drivers' Championship title was won by Andy Priaulx for BMW Team Great Britain, who tied on points with BMW Team Deutschland's Dirk Müller, although Priaulx earned the title due to his greater number of victories during the season.
Flirting Around began his three-year-old season in handicap races, finishing unplaced on his debut before winning races over 1300 metres and 1200 metres. On 2 June, the colt started favourite for the Prix du Palais Royal over 1400 metres at Longchamp but finished third of the five runners behind Sincerely and Garzer. Three weeks later, he was brought back in distance for the Group Three Prix du Gros Chêne over 1000 metres at Chantilly Racecourse. He won his first major race by five lengths from Moubariz, with the British-trained favourite Supreme Gift in fourth.
A formula windsurfing event is usually made up from a number of races over a given period. Races are run in the same method as conventional sailing races, with a countdown to the start after which competitors can cross an imaginary line between two start markers. Races are usually 15–30 minutes, with up to four races per day (conditions allowing). The winner is the competitor with the best total score for all of the races in the event (although some race results may be discounted depending on number of races sailed and various other factors).
Nonetheless, his flatline attacks have resulted in him participating in fewer races over time. After she meets Jashugan, Alita challenges him to an arm-wrestling match with her heart literally as the stakes. The match appears to end as a draw, during which Jashugan calls stop after overloading 80% of Alita's arm actuators, but Jashugan afterwards drops his arm and notes that he would have lost had it gone on for longer. A separate women's 50 km was not scheduled, but women were allowed to enter the men's event and were treated as equal competitors for team scoring.
The specific finswimming events were races over the distances of 40m and 1000m which are reported as using either surface swimming techniques or respectively apnoea and immersion techniques. In 1969, the first European Finswimming Championship to be separate of underwater orienteering was held in Locarno, Switzerland. The first World Championships were held in Hanover, Germany during 1976 followed by the inclusion of the sport in the inaugural World Games in Santa Clara, California, USA during 1981. In 1988, the first World Long Distance Championship was held in Paris, France followed in 1989 by the first World Junior Championship in Dunaújváros, Hungary.
The Athletics World Cup is a team-based international athletics competition inaugurated in 2018. The inaugural edition featured eight national teams based on world rankings, with each team entering one athlete per event, and points gained on the basis of finishing position. Although the majority of world championship events were contested, no races over 1500 metres were held, and no road events or multi-events were on the program. The competition focused on an overall team prize, the Platinum Trophy and Platinum team medals, but individual gold, silver and bronze medals were also awarded in each individual event.
Thoroughbred Winning Brew holds the Guinness world record for the fastest speed from the starting gate for a Thoroughbred racehorse, at 77.6 km/h (43.97 mph) over two furlongs, although Quarter Horses attain higher speeds over shorter distances than Thoroughbreds. Such speeds may also be achieved by elite racehorses during the stretch drive. The two main forms of Thoroughbred horseracing are flat racing and hurdle or steeplechase (jumping) races over obstacles. Jumpers tend to be older than their flat racing counterparts and can have much longer careers, making it possible to earn a large number of wins.
The Racecourse, seen from Cleeve Hill The main racecourse has two separate courses alongside each other, the Old Course and the New Course. The New Course has a tricky downhill fence and a longer run-in for steeplechases than the Old Course. Hurdle races over two miles on the New Course also have a slight peculiarity in that most of the hurdles are jumped early on in the race with only two hurdles being jumped in the last seven furlongs. The Old Course is the racecourse used for The Showcase, The November Meeting and the first two days of the Cheltenham Festival.
Cyborgo (1990 - March 2001) was a French-bred, British-trained AQPS racehorse. A full-brother to Hors La Loi III he began his racing career in his native country before being transferred to England to compete in National Hunt racing. In his first season in Britain he won two of his six races over hurdles including the Mersey Novices' Hurdle. In the following year he won five consecutive races including the Rendlesham Hurdle before finishing second in the Stayers' Hurdle and then returned after a twelve-month absence to win the Stayers' Hurdle at the second attempt in 1996.
Marshall stops by Ted's apartment with a box of childhood memorabilia from his mother. Ted receives a call from an old woman telling him "the window is open", and races over to a woman's apartment a few blocks away. Later at MacLaren's, Ted explains that "the window" was the window of opportunity to date a woman named Maggie (JoAnna Garcia), who followed up every long-term relationship with a very short break, and then an even-longer relationship. Ted had known Maggie, the "ultimate girl next door", since college, but she has always quickly found a new boyfriend after being single.
Stalker was a small, dark bay horse bred in England by his owner Paddy Fetherston-Godley. He was one of the best horses sired by Kala Shikari a sprinter whose wins included the Prix de Seine-et-Oise and the Prix du Gros Chêne in 1976. Stalker was the first foal of his dam Tarvie, a sprinter who won three races over six furlongs and who was rated 101 by Timeform in 1980. She was descended from the broodmare Distant View, making her a distant relative of the Irish classic race winners Front Row, Black Satin and Possessive Dancer.
Stradivarius began his second season in handicap races. Over ten furlongs Beverley Racecourse on 19 April he carried a weight of 131 pounds and won "readily" by six lengths from Election Day. At Chester Racecourse in May he was assigned 133 pounds for a handicap over one and a half miles and was beaten half a length by Here And Now,to whom he was conceding 13 pounds. At Royal Ascot on 23 June, the colt was stepped up in class and distance to contest the Group 2 Queen's Vase over 14 furlongs in which he was partnered by Andrea Atzeni.
By this point, the Freedman stable knew that they had 'a pretty smart handicap type horse' on their hands. Back in Melbourne, in the new year, Super Impose raced at weight- for-age for the first time, finishing second to Vo Rogue in the Orr Stakes, the St George Stakes, and the Australian Cup, and won the Carlyon Cup (under handicap conditions) in course-record time. In Sydney, wet weather forced him out of his races over the autumn carnival, including the Mercedes Classic, and the 'dark clouds followed his float' to Queensland, where he was unplaced in two starts before a spell.
He finished 28th out of 32 competitors at the 2009–10 Luge World Cup event at Cesana Pariol in January, which was his fifth and last World Cup event. At the time of his death, he was ranked 44th out of 65 competitors in the 2009–10 World Cup season and was regarded as one of the best lugers to come from Georgia. By 31 December 2009, the cut-off date for luge qualifications for the Olympics, Kumaritashvili was ranked 38th overall. He qualified for the luge men's singles event at the 2010 Winter Olympics, his Olympic debut, by racing in five World Cup races over two years.
Pharaoh's Delight began her second season with two races over one mile/ 1600 metres. She finished sixth to Houseproud in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp Racecourse in May and fifth to Chimes of Freedom in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot a month later. A switch to sprinting brought no initial improvement as he came home eighth of the nine runners behind Royal Academy in the July Cup. Better was to follow in August as she finished second to Pole Position in the Prix de Meautry and then ran third to the year's leading sprinter Dayjur in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.
The creation of the sport is attributed to underwater divers in the USSR. The first international competition was held in Crimea during 1965 with participants attending from Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and the USSR. Within Central Europe, the first competitions were held in Angera on Lake Maggiore in Italy during 1961 and at Wörthersee in Austria during 1962. The program at the first European Championship in 1967 consisted of two underwater swimming races over distances of 40 and 1000 metres, an M-course and a team competition for three competitors involving two swims of 1,150 metres and the completion of an underwater task at the end of the first swim.
Michael Andretti was born to Dee Ann and racing legend Mario Andretti, a race car driver who became a four-time IndyCar champion and the 1978 Formula One World Champion. Following a successful career racing karts, winning 50 of his 75 races over eight years, Michael moved into racing cars. He obtained his SCCA National License in 1980, then won six races to claim the SCCA's Northeast Division Formula Ford championship in 1981. He also drove in a number of Formula Vee races in regional SCCA events. In 1982, he won six of the 11 races on his way to winning the Robert Bosch US Formula Super Vee Championship.
Busch ran the entire 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, making it the first time he had done so since his rookie year in 2004. In the 2009 Nationwide Series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 21, 2009 Busch won the race, clinching his first NASCAR Championship; having won nine races over the course of the season, he was the first driver since Sam Ard in 1983 to win the season finale and the championship in the same year. He tallied nine wins, twenty five top fives, and thirty top tens. Busch also won seven races in the Camping World Truck Series during the 2009 season.
The two Asian venues were linked together for the 2010 season, causing the cancellation of the 2009 Desert 400 at Bahrain, and the 2010 Desert 400 will take place the week following the Yas V8 400. The weekend was dominated by Triple Eight Race Engineering and by reigning champion Jamie Whincup who won both races over the course of the weekend. Team mate Craig Lowndes had a second and fifth, proving that the off-season change from Ford to Holden has been no impediment to their success. Between them on points is leading Ford driver Mark Winterbottom taking a third and a second for the weekend.
A high level of professionalism has been attained in the organization of races over the last decades preserving the unique electrifying ambiance prevailing on race days at the Champ de Mars. Members of the British Royal Family, such as Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret or the Queen Mother have attended or patronised races at the Champ de Mars numerous times. Champ de Mars has four classic events a year such as: Duchess of York Cup, Barbé Cup, Maiden Cup and the Duke of York Cup. Most of the horses are imported from South Africa but some are also acquired from Australia, the United Kingdom and France.
Also known as the metric mile, this is a premier middle-distance race, covering three and three-quarter laps around a standard Olympic-sized track. In recent years, races over this distance have become more of a prolonged sprint, with each lap averaging 55 seconds for the world record performance by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco: 3:26.00 on 14 July 1998 at Rome (two 1:50 min 800 m performances back to back). Thus, speed is necessary, and it seems that the more aerobic conditioning, the better. Genzebe Dibaba from Ethiopia holds the women's world record: 3:50.07 set in Monaco on 17 July 2015.
Nemechek began racing at the age of thirteen in motocross and won three hundred career races over the next six years. After winning various awards in different short track series around the country, Nemechek made his Busch Series debut at North Carolina Speedway in 1989, where he started 40th and finishing 33rd after suffering an engine failure in his No. 88 Buick. Nemechek moved up to the Busch Series in 1990, running the No. 87 with sponsorship from Master Machine & Tool, posting two top-fives and finishing seventeenth in points, winning Rookie of the Year honors. He had sixteen top-ten finishes and finished sixth in points the following year.
Following the demise of the BGTCS in 1935 the Blackburn Stadium management decide to remain independent (unaffiliated to a governing body), a status that was retained for the next fifty years. Totalisator turnover peaked in 1946 at £529,773 in comparison to 1968 when it had dropped to £298,000. During the 1960s the races over 352, 535 and 745 yards were mainly of handicaps and five runners but there was an 'Inside Sumner' hare with photo finish ray timing installed. The all-grass track remained popular in Lancashire with the Daily Express, the Sun and Daily Mail carrying cards despite the fact that it was an independent.
The 2011 Star Mazda Championship was the 13th Star Mazda Championship season, the second under the Mazda Road to Indy program, and the first under IndyCar sanctioning, after 12 years under the International Motor Sports Association unbrella. As part of the program's expansion, the series champion will be provided a scholarship to advance into Firestone Indy Lights for the 2012 season. The season will feature 11 races over 10 weekends, with four road courses, three street circuits and three ovals on the schedule. The series consisted of a main championship as well as an Expert championship for drivers over 30 years of age, combining previous years' Expert and Masters championships.
On May 14, 2011, Action Express Racing defeated Ganassi, and claimed the bounty. After Kyle Busch won six consecutive NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races over a two-season span, driver Kevin Harvick and series sponsor Camping World Holdings placed a $100,000 bounty to a full-time Cup Series driver that defeats Busch in one of the remaining four races Busch is eligible to participate. Numerous Cup Series drivers announced plans to enter the $100,000 bounty races. On the first race of the four on May 26, 2020, Chase Elliott claimed the bounty in defeating Busch at the North Carolina Education Lottery 200.
All of the engines suffered a drop in compression ratios to allow use of low-lead/no-lead gas and to meet the first round of emissions regulations. The 440 engine was the basis for the Road Runner GTX (the GTX was no longer a separate model) and was available on Road Runners from 1972 to 1974. The 1971-72 Road Runner sheetmetal was used by several NASCAR racing teams for their racecars and ran well on the circuit during the 1971-74 seasons. Richard Petty won the championship both in 1971 and 1972 using the Road Runner-based cars, winning 30 races over the two seasons.
These title races come with immense pressure, with wins considered significant successes for the victorious schools and their rowing programs. The event draws huge crowds of up to 15,000 (2010) from across the state, generally consisting of school students, parent supporters, and old scholars. The regatta is currently held at the world standard course at West Lakes International Regatta Centre and involves junior and inter coxed quadruple sculling events over 1,000m and 1,500m respectively, as well as senior coxed four and eight races over 2,000m. The South Australian Head of the River is held on the second-to-last Saturday of the first school term of each year.
Ralph Dale Earnhardt Sr. (; April 29, 1951 – February 18, 2001) was an American professional auto racing driver and team owner, best known for his involvement in stock car racing for NASCAR. The third child of racing driver Ralph Earnhardt and Martha Earnhardt, he began his career in 1975 in the World 600 as part of the Winston Cup Series. Regarded as one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history, Earnhardt won a total of 76 Winston Cup races over the course of his career, including the 1998 Daytona 500. He also earned seven NASCAR Winston Cup championships, tying for the most all-time with Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson.
White City (Nottingham) Ltd constructed a new stadium, track and speedway circuit in 1933 replacing the original Olympic Grounds. On Saturday 24 June 1933 the Duchess of Portland opened the stadium under the National Greyhound Racing Club (NGRC) rules of racing in the presence of 1,500 people. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Nottingham were also present during the opening night in which all proceeds were donated to the Harlow Wood Hospital and St Dunstan’s Home. Seven races over 502 yards were held with the first ever winner being the 5-2 shot Dragwell Queen trained by McDougall in a time of 31.31.
When the Trek and Volkswagen partnership dissolved at the end of 2008, the Trek Bicycle Corporation continued its support of Jeff by directly signing him to full sponsorship. After his breakthrough in 2007, he moved to Frederick, Maryland and began to specialize in ultra-endurance racing events, namely 100-mile mountain bike races. Over the course of his 6 year career, he amassed 17 wins in 100-mile MTB racing, winning the National Ultra Endurance Series for three consecutive years. Schalk's sponsors for the majority of his career included: Trek Bicycle Corporation, Bontrager, Fox Racing Shox, Shimano, PowerBar, Dumonde Tech Racing Oils, and ESI Grips.
On his three-year-old debut, Diktat started 6/4 favourite against sixteen opponents in a seven furlong maiden at Newmarket Racecourse on 14 April. Ridden by Darryll Holland he took the lead inside the final furlong and drew away to win by four lengths from the John Gosden- trained Mubrik. In May he started 5/4 favourite for a minor races over the same distance at Leicester and won "comfortably" by one and a half lengths from Rami. On 17 June the colt was stepped up in class for the Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in which he was gain partnered by Holland.
Riggs was born in Bahama, North Carolina, and began his racing career at the age of fourteen in the American Motorcycle Association, where he won the State Championship in North Carolina two years in a row. At the age of seventeen, he began racing the NASCAR mini stock division, and won twelve races over his first three seasons. He continued to race in that series over the next decade, and was a two-time champion at Southern National Speedway. In 1999, Riggs made his major-league NASCAR debut in the Craftsman Truck Series at Indianapolis Raceway Park, driving the No. 84 for Long Brothers Racing.
Mouktar was a "fine, big, rangy" grey horse bred in Ireland by his owner Aga Khan IV. He was sired by the grey stallion Nishapour, who won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains for the Aga Khan in 1978 and sired the Prix de Diane winner Shemaka and the Racing Post Trophy winner Beauchamp King. Mouktar's dam Molitva won two races over one and half miles and was a descendant of François Dupré's racemare Mirna, who won the Prix de la Forêt and the Prix du Moulin. The colt was sent into training with Alain de Royer-Dupré at Chantilly and was ridden in most of his races by Yves Saint- Martin.
Madcap's brother Lounger, at 4 years old, was challenged to a match against Hugo Meynell's Pillager and any other hound of Meynell's choosing, although upon sighting Lounger it was felt best by Meynell to forfeit. Hound trailing or hound racing became particularly popular in the Lake District, with hunt masters of packs conducting match races over laid drag lines. The rapid rise in the popularity of the sport led to the establishment of the Hound Trailing Association in 1906, this was followed by the Border Hound Trailing Association in 1933 and later the Yorkshire Hound Trailing Association and associations in County Cork and County Kerry.
The FINA Marathon Swim World Series, known as the 10 km Marathon Swimming World Cup until 2017, is a series of 10-kilometer, open water swimming races held annually since 2007. Prior to 2007, 10K races were held as part of the FINA's Open Water Grand Prix series; post split, this latter series is now for races over 10 kilometers in length. Prizes and points are awarded for each race in the series, with the points being added together for an overall point standing (and overall awards). In October 2010, the eighth and final race of the series in Fujairah, UAE made news following the death of the USA's Fran Crippen during the race.
The 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series was the thirteenth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the thirteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. It began on 19 March at the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide and ended on 6 December at the Homebush Street Circuit and consisted of 26 races over 14 events which were held in all states and the Northern Territory of Australia as well as New Zealand. The 50th Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to the winner of the series by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. Triple Eight Race Engineering Ford driver Jamie Whincup won the Championship from Holden drivers Will Davison and Garth Tander.
The practice is most useful in long distance swimming, where the effects of drag can cause a significant time difference in races over 400 meters. Regarding cycling, wind tunnel tests performed by Specialized, indicate over a 40 km TT one can save 50-82 seconds by shaving legs. Other reasons cyclists shave include: faster healing and easier cleaning of road rash, less pain during leg massage. Seneca suggested that in ancient Rome it was considered an ostentatious bit of effeminacy, contrary to underarm hair removal: "One is, I believe, as faulty as the other: the one class are unreasonably elaborate, the other are unreasonably negligent; the former depilate the leg, the latter not even the armpit" (letter 114).
The 2011 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup season will be the inaugural Ginetta GT Supercup season, having rebranded from the Ginetta G50 Cup, which ran between 2008 and 2010. The season will begin at Brands Hatch on 4 April and will finish after 27 races over 10 rounds at Sliverstone on 16 October, supporting all rounds of the British Touring Car Championship. The season sees a new direction for the series with a move towards a GT style class structure with two cars eligible to race in the championship. The older Ginetta G50 is still eligible to race along with the introduction of the new Ginetta G55 with , 70 more than the G50.
Colin Turkington became the first Northern Irish driver to win the Championship Jason Plato came second, with only a 5-point margin Italy’s Fabrizio Giovanardi came third in the championship, 4 points behind Jason Plato Colin Turkington became the first Northern Irish winner of the championship. In addition, he wrapped up a third consecutive independents' driver title, with his Team RAC also picking up the Independent Teams Trophy. The 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 52nd British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It began at Brands Hatch on the Indy layout on 5 April and finished after 30 races over 10 events on the Grand Prix layout at Brands Hatch on 4 October.
Timepiece (foaled 7 February 2007) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. In a racing career which lasted from September 2009 until September 2012 she won six of her twenty-one races and ran consistently well in top- class races over distances between one mile and ten furlongs. Bred and owned by Khalid Abdullah and trained by Henry Cecil, Timepiece showed great promise as a juvenile in 2009 when she won two of her three races including the Montrose Stakes. In the following year she was regarded as a leading contender for The Oaks and although she finished only eighth in the classic she recorded significant victories in the Sandringham Handicap and the James Seymour Stakes.
The sport of cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of formats for cross- country skiing races over courses of varying lengths according to rules sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations, such as the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and Cross Country Ski Canada. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation.
The 2010 Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup was the third Ginetta G50 Cup. The season began at Thruxton on 4 April and finished after 28 races over 10 rounds at Brands Hatch on 10 October, supporting rounds of the British Touring Car Championship. Despite scoring 38 fewer points overall than title rival Carl Breeze, it was Dynojet's Frank Wrathall who became champion after a successful season in which he took five overall victories, as well as taking six other class victories in which he was the first championship-registered finisher. Ten points behind on dropped scores was Total Control Racing's Breeze, an improvement on his third place championship finish behind Nathan Freke and Wrathall in 2009.
After beginning 1991 with no sponsor, he got a one-race deal with Hooters after their regular driver, Mark Stahl, failed to qualify. Hooters then signed up to sponsor the No. 7 full-time and Kulwicki won three races over the next two seasons. The peak of the team's success was 1992, when Kulwicki became the first owner-driver since Richard Petty did so in 1979 to win a Winston Cup championship. Entering the Hooters 500 (coincidentally, Petty's final race) as one of six drivers with a chance, Kulwicki finished second behind race winner Bill Elliott and led the most laps, enabling him to win the Cup by 10 points over Elliott.
The Italian Trotter has been influenced by the French Trotter, the Russian Orlov Trotter and the American Standardbred. The move in recent years towards races over shorter distances has led to greater reliance on horses of the American type. The first trotting races in the Italian peninsula were held in the Prato della Valle of Padova (which at that time was in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy) from 1808, some two years after the earliest official races at New Haven, Connecticut, in the United States. Selection of the Italian Trotter did not begin until the second half of the nineteenth century, when mares with aptitude for trotting were put to English Thoroughbred stallions.
Boldon had strong links to the mining community which was a common factor with new greyhound tracks. It all started on the afternoon of Saturday 23 March 1940 at 3pm, quickly followed by a second and third meeting on the Easter Monday. Fred Gillespie was brought into the track to act as General and Racing Manager, along with other officials A E Hawkins from the Coundon track and George Hall from the White City Stadium (Newcastle). The opening meeting saw eight races over 450 yards and the meeting was advertised as a Sunderland super greyhound stadium with a wonder totalisator and three luxurious clubs, large covered enclosures and a free car park.
He and his father then developed a six-year plan that would allow Jones to move up the ladder and begin to fulfill his dream. In 1995, Jones moved to the NASCAR Busch Series with his own team called Buckshot Racing. After a disappointing rookie campaign where his best finish was a ninth at South Boston Speedway, Jones hired Ricky Pearson, son of the legendary David Pearson, as his crew chief. Jones won two races over the next three years, winning the Most Popular Driver award in 1998. In 1999, after marrying his longtime girlfriend Jina, he made the jump to Winston Cup driving the No. 00 Pontiac, with Ricky's brother Larry Pearson taking over his Busch ride.
In the main TA class, the top four championship positions as well as all race victories were taken by drivers competing in Chevrolet Corvettes. It was won by defending champion Doug Peterson, who won five races over the course of the season. Peterson won the championship by 33 points ahead of 2012 champion Simon Gregg, who finished every race with a top-five finish without winning a race. One point further behind in third place was Amy Ruman, who won races at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Daytona International Speedway; Ruman's latter victory ensured she became the first woman to claim a solo overall victory in a professional automobile race at Daytona.

The Berlin Marathon (, ) is a marathon event held annually on the streets of Berlin, Germany on the last weekend of September. Initiated in 1974, the event includes multiple races over the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers (26 miles 385 yards), including elite level road running competitions for men and women, a race for the general public, an in-line skating race, a wheelchair race and a handcycle race. Events are split over two days, with skaters competing on the marathon course on Saturday before the running events. Power walkers, hand-bikers, wheelchair riders, and a children's marathon (42.195 km) are also part of the marathon weekend, which is organised by SCC EVENTS.
The Delaware Oaks Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in mid July at Delaware Park Racetrack in Stanton near Wilmington, Delaware. Part of the Del Cap Festival Weekend that features other races over the two days including the Delaware Handicap, the Oaks is open to three-year-old fillies and is run over one and one-sixteenth miles on the dirt. Currently, the Grade III race offers a purse of $300,000. From 2003 to 2008, the purse was $500,000 United States Hall of Fame fillies Gallorette (1945), Dark Mirage (1968), Gallant Bloom (1969) and Desert Vixen (1973) have all won this race, as did the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Lauries Dancer.
Jimmy Choux had an extraordinary 2010–11 season, winning the Hawke's Bay Guineas, New Zealand 2000 Guineas, Great Northern Guineas, Wellington Stakes and Waikato Guineas to secure hot Derby favouritism. His only defeats were when he was beaten by a nose by Fiddler in the Wanganui Guineas on a very heavy track in his first start of the season, and in the Levin Classic, where he was eased out to finish a long last due to cardiac arrhythmia. But while there were no arguments over his class, many doubted whether Jimmy Choux could sustain that brilliance and clear superiority over 2400m. His pedigree certainly suggested he would be restricted to races over no more than a mile.
Held since 1973, this event is for rowers 27 years of age or over. Men and women compete in age categories ranging from "A" (27 to 35) to "K" (85 and older). The largest annual international regatta, in 2013 it attracted approximately 3500 competitors who competed in 440 races over four days. There are also events for mixed crews - where half the crew is men and half women (excluding cox). The 2010 regatta took place in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, 2011 in Poznan Poland, 2012 in Duisburg Germany, 2013 in Varese Italy, 2014 in Ballarat Australia, 2015 in Hazewinkel Belgium, 2016 in Copenhagen Denmark, e 2017 in Bled Slovenia, 2018 in Sarasota USA, and 2019 in Lake Valence Hungary.
Anzum (foaled 6 April 1991) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse best known for his performances in National Hunt racing. After failing to win in eight races on the flat he made an immediate impact when switched to hurdle races, winning his first six races over obstacles including the Summit Junior Hurdle and taking third place in the Triumph Hurdle. After winning only once in the next three years he established himself as a leading staying hurdler in 1999 with wins in the Stayers' Hurdle, Champion Stayers Hurdle and Long Walk Hurdle. He ran his last race in April 2001 and was retired with a record of ten wins and fourteen places from thirty-two starts.
The PC-23 was a design evolution of its predecessor, the PC-22, which won the 1993 Indianapolis 500, 8 races over the entire season, and missing the 1993 CART title by only 8 points. The only substantial difference of the new car from it were the smaller rear wings on the short ovals, mandatory by rule changes for the 1994 season, and Team Penske put in a lot of test efforts to minimize the effects of these changes. There were also some modifications on the transmission, but the new car was mostly a progression. Plans to fit the PC-23 with an active suspension system were cancelled due to a ban by CART on such technology.
Boggs made his debut in NASCAR competition in 1970, winning Rookie of the Year in the Grand American series. He moved up to the Winston Cup Series in 1971, making his debut at Bowman Gray Stadium and finishing ninth; he would compete in 32 races over three seasons, posting a best finish of sixth at Dover Downs International Speedway later that year. Boggs' Winston Cup career would be remembered most for a cut tire starting a wreck during the qualifying races for the 1972 Daytona 500 that resulted in the death of Friday Hassler. Boggs also competed in 11 races in the Grand National East Division in 1972 and 1973 with a best finish of fifth.
There was a disagreement between Bruni's owner and trainer about his 1976 campaign: Price favoured the "Cup" races over extended distances, but St George insisted on running him in the major middle distance events. He began his season in the Yorkshire Cup at York Racecourse in May and won easily while carrying the "top weight" of 127 pounds, beating Mr Bigmore and Sea Anchor by two lengths. After his poor performance in the previous year's Derby, Bruni bypassed the Coronation Cup at Epsom and was sent to Royal Ascot for the Hardwicke Stakes. In this race, Bruni showed the first public signs of temperamental problems as he appeared reluctant to race and fell back twelve lengths behind the leaders.

The winner of the event is the driver who wins the second race and not the driver who collects the most points. The second race involves double points over the first race. There are 2 compulsory pit stops in each race, 1 stop for tyres and 1 stop for fuel. Round 5-GMC 400 at Canberra. This involves 2 100 km races and 1 200 km race over 25 and 50 laps of the Canberra Street Circuit. The winner of the event is the driver who collects the most points over the weekend.
The Senna–Prost rivalry was a Formula One rivalry between Brazilian racing driver, Ayrton Senna and French racing driver, Alain Prost. The rivalry was at its most intense during the period in which they were teammates at McLaren in the 1988 Formula One World Championship and the 1989 Formula One World Championship seasons. The rivalry continued on not only between the drivers but between manufacturers when Prost joined Ferrari in 1990. The relationship between the drivers was as polarising as it was fierce, with confrontations between the drivers a regular occurrence. As teammates, Senna and Prost won 25 of 32 races over the 1988 and 1989 seasons, signifying the pure dominance the drivers had over the competing field and other manufacturers.
To- Agori-Mou was a "big, rangy, attractive" dark brown horse with no white markings bred by the Rathduff Stud in County Tipperary, Ireland. His sire, Tudor Music, was a top-class sprinter whose wins included the July Cup: as a breeding stallion his record was not impressive, with his only previous Group Race winner being Orchestra, whose wins included the John Porter Stakes. To- Agori-Mou was by far the best horse produced by Sarah Van Fleet, a mare who won five races over hurdles. Sarah Van Fleet was a great granddaughter of the influential broodmare Sister Sarah, whose other descendants include St. Paddy, Flying Water, Russian Rhythm, Workforce, Nearctic, Shadayid, Swain, Love Divine, Brian Boru and Sixties Icon.
Matsunosuke started 2008 with a very good 2nd in a class 1 listed race at Lingfield on 15 March although things didn't go to smoothly afterwards. Despite coming a very respectable 4th in his next outing at Newmarket in the Group 3 Stan James Palace House Stakes on 4 May, he didn't place for his next 10 races over the following 2 months. The main reason for this is because he had achieved an official handicap rating so high, touching 100 at one point, that it was difficult to find suitable handicap races for him and he had to run several group races which he found very difficult. His next placing was a 3rd at Great Leighs, an all- weather circuit, on 13 September.
The Silverstone Classic is an annual three-day car and race event at the UK's Silverstone circuit, home of the British Grand Prix. Over a long weekend every July, the event features hundreds of historic race cars in circa 20 races over the weekend, displays from over 100 car clubs with more than 10,000 classic cars, free access to the paddocks and grandstands, interactive activities, dynamic demonstrations, live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, a shopping village and lots more. Founded in 1990, the Silverstone Classic was one of the first of motor sport meetings dedicated entirely to historic racing cars in 2019 it had a crowd of 109,000. The Classic will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2020 (31 July – 2 August).
Frijns made his first attempt at Formula Renault 2.0, racing at the Spa- Francorchamps round of the 2010 Northern European Cup. Driving for Josef Kaufman Racing once more, Frijns finished second in the first race of the meeting, fifth in the second race, and won the third. In 2011, Frijns joined the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship full-time, continuing to drive for Josef Kaufman Racing. He won the title on his first attempt, winning five races over the course of the season – including both races at Silverstone – and finishing forty-five points ahead of his nearest rival, Carlos Sainz Jr.. Frijns also competed in the Northern European Cup, finishing the season fourth overall, despite missing the Oschersleben, Most and Monza rounds of the championship.
Red Rower showed early promise as a steeplechaser, winning three races over two miles before stepping up to three miles and winning the Lilley Brook Chase as a six-year-old at Cheltenham in April 1940. The gelding made his first appearance in the Cheltenham Gold Cup as a seven-year-old in 1941 in which he was ridden by Danny Morgan and started at odds of 8/1. He led the field approaching the final fence where he was overtaken by his stablemate Poet Prince and lost second place by a short head to Savon in the final strides. Wartime restrictions meant that major sporting events were confined to the weekend and the 1942 Cheltenham Festival was run over successive Saturdays rather than consecutive days.
Mrs Penny finished second in her first two races over the minimum distance of five furlongs before being moved up in class and distance for the Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse in July. Ridden by John Matthias, she started at odds of 11/1, with the Queen Mary Stakes winner Abeer being made favourite. Mrs Penny started slowly and appeared to have little chance until the final furlong, but finished very strongly to overtake Abeer in the closing stages and win by three quarters of a length. Abeer had been conceding nine pounds to Mrs Penny at Newmarket, and when the fillies met again at a three-pound difference in the Lowther Stakes at York Racecourse in August she was widely expected to reverse the placings.
René Arnoux, who finished third in his Ferrari 126C2B, was the only driver to ever finish on the Formula One podium at Long Beach driving a turbocharged car. In 1984, the race switched from a Formula One race to a CART Indy car event. Support races over the years have included Indy Lights, IMSA, Atlantics, Pirelli World Challenge, Trans-Am Series, Formula D, Stadium Super Trucks, Formula E, and the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. Toyota was a sponsor of the event since its beginning and title sponsor from 1980 to 2018, believed to be the longest continuously running sports sponsorship in the U.S. The Long Beach Grand Prix has been announced since 1978 by Bruce Flanders (and various guest announcers).
On her only appearance as a two-year-old Attica Meli finished fourth in a maiden race over five furlongs. In the early part of 1972, the Murless stable was badly affected by an outbreak of a viral infection delaying the preparation and progress of the horses. Attica Meli ran well on her three-year-old debut when finishing third to Miss Paris in the Fred Darling Stakes over seven furlongs at Newbury Racecourse in April but then succumbed to the virus and was off the course for three months. In the summer of 1972 she won minor races over ten furlongs and one and a half miles before being moved up in class for the Group One Yorkshire Oaks at York Racecourse in August.
Flash of Steel made no impact in his first two races, finishing unplaced in maiden races over six and seven furlongs respectively at the Curragh. He was dropped back to six furlongs for a maiden at Naas Racecourse in September, started odds-on favourite, and won by three quarters of a length from Wolf Call after taking the lead in the closing stages. He returned before the end of the month in a minor race over seven furlongs at Down Royal and won in more impressive style. On this occasion he was restrained by his jockey in the early stages, overcame some trouble obtaining a clear run and beat Halo's Sword by one and a half lengths despite being eased down in the closing stages.
The 1996 NASCAR Winston West Series consisted of 15 events, run at 11 race tracks in 6 states; two races, at Sears Point Raceway in May and at Phoenix International Raceway in October, were combination events with the Winston Cup Series. Lance Hooper won his first series championship, beating Jeff Krogh by 30 points; Hooper was the first driver to win the championship during his rookie year in the series. Eight drivers won races over the course of the 15-race season; Hooper won the most events, with four victories, in addition to finishing first among Winston West competitors in the Phoenix combination race;Kelly 1997, p.394. the four overall wins were a series record for a rookie driver.
Andre De Grasse and Bolt after running the 100 m final at the 2016 Olympics. Bolt competed sparingly in the 200 m before the Olympics, with a run of 19.89 seconds to win at the London Grand Prix being his sole run of note over that distance. He had four races over 100 m, though only one was in Europe, and his best of 9.88 seconds in Kingston placed him fourth on the world seasonal rankings. The 2002–2003 Louis Vuitton Cup, held in the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland, New Zealand saw nine teams from six countries staging 120 races over five months to select a challenger for the America's Cup. Due to sponsorship rules in force at the time, the boats were not allowed to be named after their sponsors which affected only one challenger. The Oracle boat was referenced by its sail number USA-76 because the team did not give the boat a name. On January 19, 2003 the Swiss challenger Ernesto Bertarelli’s Alinghi, skippered by Russell Coutts, won the Louis Vuitton Cup Finals by defeating the American challenger, Larry Ellison's Oracle, 5–1, once again eliminating the United States from the America's Cup competition.
This led some to believe that Rosberg would achieve greater success in Formula One, the highest level of open-wheel racing, due to the intellectual capacity required to manage brakes, energy harvesting, tyre management and moderate fuel usage. However, Hamilton's tyre management has frequently allowed him to push on for longer, often enabling optimum race strategies, and his fuel usage has regularly been better than almost anyone on the grid. Sky Sport's Mark Hughes, commented "Rosberg has a more scientific methodology, looks to fine-tune more specifically than Hamilton who typically tends just to find a balance he can work with, then adapt his driving around it". In their time together as teammates, Hamilton and Rosberg won 54 of 78 races over four seasons.
With the championship, he received a prize test with the Arden Motorsport GP3 team at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season, as well as a £25,000 cash prize. Behind Maini, Hyman's second place finish allowed him to jump Fielding for third place in the championship, by a single point. All three drivers won four races over the course of the season, including a hat-trick for Fielding at Silverstone, a first for the series. Other drivers to win races were Moore at Oulton Park, Palmer won twice at the first Snetterton meeting, as well as single victories for Diego Menchaca (Snetterton), and Brands Hatch victories for Gustavo Lima, Gaetano di Mauro and Chris Middlehurst.
On his first appearance against more experienced chasers, Klairon Davis contested a Grade 3 race at Tipperary on 16 November in which he was matched at level weights against Merry Gale, the winner of the Punchestown Chase, Powers Gold Cup and Martell Cup. Starting the 9/10 favourite, he tracked Merry Gale before taking the lead at the second last and won by six lengths. Commenting on the possibility of a clash with the reigning two-mile champion chaser Viking Flagship, Moore said "Klairon Davis did that well, but he will be having a light programme because there are not many suitable races over this trip in this country. Next spring will be time enough to take on Viking Flagship".
After running eighteen consecutive races over six furlongs in England, The Tin Man was moved up slightly in trip and sent to France for the Prix Maurice de Gheest over 1300 metres at Deauville Racecourse on 5 August and finished third of the twenty runners behind Polydream and James Garfield. On 8 September The Tin Man made his third attempt to win the Sprint Cup at Haydock and started the 7/1 third choice alongside Sir Dancealot (Lennox Stakes, Hungerford Stakes) and behind Harry Angel and Tasleet. The other runners included Brando, Donjuan Triumphant, Speak In Colours (Phoenix Sprint Stakes), Eqtidaar and Sands of Mali. Castletown (3 October 1986 – 17 December 2017) was a New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse who won over $2 million in prize money and is best known for winning one of New Zealand's toughest staying tests, the Wellington Cup, on three occasions. He had over 100 starts, from two to eight years of age, including a record 13 races over 3,200 metres,Signs Point To Veteran But Swords Has An Edge a distance at which he excelled.Castletown's racing career Over the distance, he won the Wellington Cup in 1991, 1992, and 1994, and the Auckland Cup in 1992. In his third win in the Wellington Cup, Castletown carried topweight of 58 kilograms, and won a special place in New Zealand racing history, accompanied by the memorable "the dream bursts into reality" commentary from Tony Lee.
In a season that saw only four drivers contest the entire championship, it was Chinese driver Martin Cao who won the championship, driving for Fortec Motorsports. Cao started the season with a run of seven successive second-place finishes to a series of drivers, but his consistent finishing kept him towards the top of the championship standings. Cao took his first win at Thruxton, and went on to take four overall wins – plus a further two class wins behind drivers who were ineligible to score championship points – in the final three race meetings, to ultimately win the championship title by two points, ahead of team-mate Matt Rao. Rao won five races over the course of the season, with one fewer podium finish over the season, compared to Cao.
As noted above, he began 2001 in the care of David Nicholls. The Nicholls stable specialises in sprinters and has sent out the winners of most of the top European races over five and six furlongs, including the Nunthorpe Stakes, the Prix Maurice de Gheest, the Haydock Sprint Cup, the July Cup, the Prix de l'Abbaye, the Stewards' Cup and the Ayr Gold Cup. Continent failed to win in his first five starts for his new stable, his closest effort being when third in a minor handicap race at Pontefract. He looked to be unlucky in running in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood however, and his lack of success meant that his official handicap mark had fallen to 92 by the time of the valuable Ayr Gold Cup in late September.
He ran in five other races over the course of the year before being released from his contract, with a best finish of 12th at New Hampshire International Speedway. In 1998 he attempted to move full-time to the Busch Series, driving the No. 30 for Team 34. Running in 17 races, his best finish was 7th at Hickory Speedway, however inconsistent performance led him to be released by the team following the series' race at Myrtle Beach Speedway, being replaced in the No. 30 by Todd Bodine. Cope ran a single race in the Craftsman Truck Series in 1999, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he finished 14th, before once more attempting the full series schedule in 2000 for Impact Motorsports in the No. 86, with sponsorship from R.C. Cola.

RML Chevrolet driver Jason Plato claimed the championship with a win in the penultimate race of the season leading home season long rival, Honda Racing Team's Matt Neal. On his way to his second BTCC crown, Plato claimed seven victories through the course of the season compared to Neal's five wins.
The British Superbike Championship (BSB), currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, is the leading road racing superbike championship in the United Kingdom, and was once widely acknowledged as the premier domestic superbike racing series in the world. The championship is managed and organised by MotorSport Vision, who also own many of the circuits the series meets at. The Series and Race Director is Stuart Higgs, with event marshals provided by the Racesafe Marshals Association. The series typically races over twelve rounds from April to October, with the series concluding in a three-round 'Showdown,' where the top six riders are awarded points based on their podium finishes from the previous nine rounds and then compete over three rounds and seven races for the title.

Dale began his driving career at the age of 16 in the Canadian amateur and vintage car ranks. His first racecar was a 1955 Cooper Formula 3 powered by a Triumph motorcycle engine. He later owned, prepared and raced a 1969 Lotus 69 Formula Ford. In 1983, to further his skills and increase his racing acumen, Dale focused on learning the minutiae of racecars by attending the Skip Barber Racing School, the Jim Russell Racing School and the prestigious Elf-Winfield Racing School (France), finishing at the top of his class at every school. During the 1984 & 1985 racing seasons, Dale raced in the Skip Barber Northeast Division, winning multiple races and the Rookie- of-the-Year title in 1984 before transitioning to the Barber-Saab Pro Series, winning seven of 27 races over a three-year period.
Official Programme, Mallala, 13 July 1997 Jason Bright, in his second season in Formula Holden and as new team leader of Birrana Racing, raced to the title, winning eight of the 14 races over the course of the season, wrapping up the championship at the sixth round and choosing to miss the final round. SH Racing's Jason Bargwanna finished second just 13 points behind Bright, although 40 of his points came from two wins at Oran Park in Bright's absence. Mark Noske, driving a Lola, was the only driver to take race wins away from the two Jasons. He was in contention for the championship early in the season, but his charge faded mid-year as he experienced problems at Winton and Eastern Creek and lost third place in the points to New Zealand teenager Scott Dixon in the Ralt Australia prepared Reynard.
On October 4, 2001, SSG announced that a sequel to Warlords Battlecry was in development and was at the stages of beta-testing. The game was slated to feature a non-linear campaign (as opposed to the linear, story-driven campaign of the game's predecessor) and feature almost a hundred and forty different unit types (sixty of which would be brand new), twelve races (nine from the previous game, three created specifically for this game), 20 hero classes and more than a hundred spells and special abilities. Six days later, on October 10, 2001 a new official website was launched, featuring a summary of the game's features as well as screenshots, desktop wallpapers, message boards and information on the armies and races. Over the following months, details concerning the units and races were added to the website.
In the May exhibition Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Patrick finished ninth and advanced to the Sprint All-Star Race by virtue of a fan vote. She started from the 22nd position and finished two spots higher than that. Patrick struggled after the season opener, failing to finish in the top- fifteen in the next 28 races over the next seven months. In 36 races, she had one top-ten, an average finish of 26.1, five DNFs and was 27th in the standings with 646 points. She was second in the Rookie of the Year standings after a season-long battle with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. In the Nationwide Series, Patrick drove the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 and the first of two races at Talladega Superspeedway, the Aaron's 312, in the No. 34 Turner Scott Motorsports car.
The event gains its name from the location (Midmar Dam) and the distance (roughly ). A unique feature of the race is that while the distance covered is always a mile, depending on rainfall and the water levels in the dam, the distance swum varies from year to year. In years with poor rainfall, competitors are subject to the infamous Midmar sprint start: a bedlam of bodies sprinting across the muddy lake-shore and through the shallows until the water is deep enough to swim. In order to handle the vast number of competitors, the swimmers swim out in 5 groups at three-minute intervals in 8 separate mile races over two days; the group division the swimmer is assigned to is based on a qualifying time in a previous (qualifying) event, with the fastest group leaving first.
Mark Winterbottom won two of the four races over the weekend with Garth Tander winning the second race on Saturday and Craig Lowndes winning the first race on Sunday. Tander and Winterbottom won each of the two days on combined point score. Despite the extended V8 Supercar racing round and the last-minute inclusion of an "Australian Legends" parade featuring racing identities Dick Johnson, Kevin Bartlett, Jim Richards, Glenn Seton, Colin Bond and Bob Morris driving historic racing cars, valued in excess of $1 million each, the 2009 event failed to attract anywhere near the numbers of spectators of previous events and the A1GP no-show has resulted in two separate government inquiries into the event. Surfers Paradise residents' groups are also lobbying for the event to be scrapped or relocated to a purpose-built facility, yet to be built.
For the 2012 season, Go Green Racing added a part-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team to their racing efforts, with driver Tim Andrews being hired to drive and his father Paul Andrews acting as crew chief; they were the first father and son driver and crew chief combination in the series since 1987. The team planned to attempt 10 to 12 races over the course of the season. Andrews failed to qualify in the team's first effort at the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway; veteran Scott Speed was hired to drive the No. 79 Ford, qualifying for the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway for the team's first race, where he finished 42nd; at Dover later that spring, he qualified for the team's second straight race, only to be caught up in an early wreck and finish 43rd.
Meseret Hailu Debele (born 12 September 1990) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who competes in half marathons and marathons. She was the gold medallist at the 2012 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and won the Amsterdam Marathon that same year. Her personal bests are 2:21:09 hours for the marathon and 66:56 minutes for the half marathon. Meseret began competing in international road races as a teenager, beginning in 2009 with a win at the Dez Milhas Garoto and a runner-up finish at the Río de Janeiro Half Marathon in Brazil. She began to focus on the marathon thereafter, running three races over the distance in 2010. She ran 2:45:10 on her debut in Pyongyang, came fourth at the Kuala Lumpur Marathon, then made a big improvement at the La Rochelle Marathon by finishing second with a time of 2:30:42 hours.
They were the inclusion of a season-opening round at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Brazil to bring the series to South America for the first time in the modern era and a year-ending event at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy. Three teams withdrew from the championship before the season: Fortec Motorsport withdrew after they were unable to sign any decent drivers and desired to focus on other junior series. MySap.com pulled out when owner David Brown left its parent company McLaren to join the Jordan Grand Prix team in Formula One and the World Racing Team withdrew due to a lack of financing, driver stability and concentration on the American Le Mans Series. Justin Wilson of the Coca-Cola Nordic Team won three races over the course of the season and secured the Drivers' Championship with one race to go.
Limestone Lad, began the next season by making his debut in a flat race, finishing third in a two-mile maiden race at Navan and then finished second to the mare Liss A Paoraigh in the Lismullen Hurdle at the same track on 3 November. A week later he won the Brown Lad Hurdle again at Naas, leading all the way and winning by six lengths when conceding more than twenty pounds to his five opponents. Seven days later he attempted to record his second win in the Morgiana Hurdle and started third favourite behind Ned Kelly who was unbeaten in seven races over hurdles including the Herald Champion Novice Hurdle, and Youlneverwalkalone who had won the Hatton's Grace Hurdle in 2000. Limestone Lad led until overtaken by Ned Kelly at the second last but rallied to regain the lead on the running and won by half a length.

American John Paul, Sr. won the series despite collecting only one win, the final race; the Road America 500 co-driving with his son, John Paul, Jr. in their Porsche 935.
Lovato spent most of this childhood growing up and going to school in the suburb of Cherry Hill, NJ. At age 14 he left home to go work on a Thoroughbred farm in Ocala, Florida where he worked as a farm hand and rider. At 16, he went to work for trainer Robert "Bobby" Murty, who put Lovato under contract and helped him get his first exercise riders' license in February 1979 at Hialeah Park Race Track. After obtaining his GED high school diploma in early 1979, as a graduation present, Murty named Frankie on his first horse in May of that same year at Hialeah. Lovato then went to Belmont Park in New York where he continued to be the head exercise rider for Murty Stable and rode a few more races over the course of the summer. He won his first race on October 9, 1979 aboard "Star T Lee" at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey for trainer Doug Peterson and Tayhill Stable.

Kirkaldy and Bell won both races at the Bucharest City Challenge and placed 6th in the FIA GT Championship, while all three Ferraris won races over the course of the British GT season, led by Hines and Metcalfe in second in the Drivers Championship, but also earning the team first in the Teams Championship. A second championship was earned by the team in British Formula Renault as Christodoulou won the Drivers Championship after seven victories over the season.
Having just about had it with the beavers, Donald leaves and comes back with a tractor fitted with a vacuum pipe, which sucks in the sawdust through one end and ejects the sawdust into the trunk through another end. This move, however, only ends up over-stuffing the now hollowed out part of the trunk and blows off the outside parts, exposing the beavers (coughing from the explosion) who've chewed the trunk so that now the whole tree is supported on a thin little spindle of wood. Seeing the damage he and the beavers have done, Donald races over and tries to hold up Old Sequoia, but the beavers get the idea to "help" Donald make Old Sequoia fall over. One beaver slaps his tail on the ground so hard that it shakes the leaves off a bush and shakes Donald and Old Sequoia to the point where there's no stopping it from meeting its fate.

According to Chillida, such an ideology had difficulties in penetrating Spain due to the concept of "casticismo" vert ingrained in Spanish society, whereby Spanish castes where understood, not as races, but as religious lineages, in contraposition to the "Moor" and the "Jew". In the Spanish psyche, the Christian-Jewish dichotomy remained predominant over the more modern and racialized arian-semite dichotomy, developed in northern Europe. Eugenic ideas were slow to enter the country; the First Eugenic Spanish Conferences took place in 1928, and the second ones in 1933.
2009 Nationwide Series car of Sprint Cup Series regular Kyle Busch, who won the Nationwide Series championship that year Buschwhacker is a term for NASCAR drivers who are regulars in the top-level NASCAR Cup Series but who also compete on a regular basis in the second-tier Xfinity Series. The original coinage of the term "Buschwhacker" refers to Anheuser-Busch's longtime title sponsorship of the second-tier series through their Busch beer brand. The practice is controversial due to Cup drivers such as Kyle Busch, Mark Martin, Kevin Harvick (numbers one, two, and three all time in wins in the Xfinity Series), Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt entering a large portion of races over the course of the season and dominating the races in superior equipment, taking good finishes, competitive rides and sponsorship, and exposure away from both development drivers and veterans who are regulars in the series. Many NASCAR experts, however, contend that without Cup drivers and the large amount of fan interest and sponsorship they attract, the series would cease to exist.
NASCAR's top series, the NASCAR Grand National Series, found sponsorship from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (RJR) in the early 1970s following the United States ban on television advertising of cigarettes. The "Winston Cup" became the title of the series, and later, some other regional series under NASCAR were also sponsored by the tobacco company (for example, the "Winston West" series). In the mid-1970s, some races began to get partial television coverage, frequently on the ABC sports variety show, Wide World of Sports. While Winston was not able to do commercial advertisements, their name was all over television during races. Over the many years of their relationship with NASCAR, Winston sponsored several races and prize programs including the Winston 500, The Winston all-star race, the Winston Western 500 and the 1985–1997 Winston Million, which awarded a million dollars to a driver who could win a "small slam" of the sport's four Grand Slam events in the same year. From 1998 to 2002, the Winston No Bull 5, a more complex award system, was used.

The gelding ran another 20 races over the next seven months to no avail before finishing third in minor events at Uttoxeter and Market Rasen in May 1997. After another long run of unplaced efforts he produced what was arguably his finest performance in the Catterton Novices' Chase at Wetherby Racecourse on 25 May 1998. Starting the 33/1 outsider of the five-runner field he led for most of the way and kept on well after being overtaken to finish second, two lengths behind the winner Toskano. Quixall Crossett's assistant trainer Geoff Sanderson, who also ran the horse's fan club commented, "We brought him back to be unsaddled and he got the most tremendous cheer you've ever heard on a race course... The horse doesn't know he gets beat because he gets a bigger cheer than the winner". Over the next sixteen months Quixall Crossett ran 24 times and managed one third place when coming home last of the finishers in the Hartwell Ford Novices' Chase at Market Rasen on 8 August.
Starting with the one-day Gill Commodore's Cup and continuing with the three days of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, sailors are offered a mixture of races with a combination of windward-leeward and coastal races blended together into an irresistible cocktail of racing chosen to suit each class. As the all-out racing monohulls savor the prospect of eight races over four days with windward-leeward races on two days and two longer coastal races testing both boat handling and tactics, it is easy to understand why the regatta attracts a large competitive classes of 40 ft and 50 ft cruiser-racers. Non-spinnaker cruising boats get more varied courses with less emphasis on tight maneuvers but many strategic opportunities to keep the racing tight. Maxis and Multihulls have their own race areas to stretch their legs with races suited to their sailing styles: an emphasis on coastal races with fewer windward legs for cruising-style multihulls and longer more challenging races for Performance Multihulls and Maxis.
From 1989 to 1993 long and intermediate distance races were held for men. After a sole long race in 1994 a men's short course was restored to the programme from 1995 to 2001, then only a long race from 2002–2008. Since 2009 a men's long race and short race have been consistently held, typically at distances of 4 km and 10 km. In its early years, the women's race was held over distances around 1 to 1.5 kilometres. From 1955–57 two women's races were briefly held over distances of 800 metres and 1500 metres. The distance of the women's race increased to 1.8 km in 1968, eventually reached 4 km five years later (matching the distance contested at the 1973 IAAF World Cross Country Championships). Two women's races over 2 km and 4 km were held from 1974–76, then merged into a single 3 km from 1977–78, then returned to a longer two-race format again from 1979–81. A single 4 km women's race was held from 1982 to 1988. From 1989 to 1993 dual races typically around 3 km and 6 km were held.
At the 2010 World Sprint Championships in Obihiro, Yu finished 6th. Yu also represented China at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, but finished a disappointing 32nd in the 1000 m. In the 2010–11 season, Yu returned as a force to be reckoned with and was on the podium three times in the 500 m World Cup stops in Changchun and Obihiro in December 2010. She chose not to compete anymore in the World Cup in order to concentrate on the 2011 Asian Winter Games in Astana, starting in the end of January 2011. The gamble turned out to be successful, and on 1 February, she managed to take the gold medal in the 500 m event, beating Wang Beixing and Lee Sang-hwa. When the World Cup circuit started again in the fall of 2011, Yu began to dominate in the 500 m. At the first meeting in Chelyabinsk, she won both of the races over that distance, each time with a winning margin over 0.4 seconds. After skipping the second meeting in Astana, she likewise went on to triumph in both 500 m races in Heerenveen and also gained a second place in the 1000 m.
