In January 2010, Madeley participated in Celebrity Quitters, programme where five celebrities attempted to give up smoking using NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy). In March 2010, it was announced that Madeley would be presenting Live From Studio Five for one week before Emma Willis took over from Melinda Messenger. In 2011, Madeley participated as a contestant on the skating show Dancing on Ice, paired with French skater Michael Zenezini. Madeley reached the final three of the competition which included former EastEnders actor, Sam Attwater, and children's television presenter, Laura Hamilton.

Much the Same is a punk rock band from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Their style is based on the fast, melodic skate punk of the mid-to-late 1990s made popular by bands such as NOFX, Lagwagon, and No Use for a Name. The band began in 1999 under the name Don't Look Down and changed to Much The Same in 2001 after a legal dispute with the now-defunct New Jersey band Don't Look Down. They released Quitters Never Win on A-F Records in 2003 and Survive in 2006.

Batfoot are a four-piece punk rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band are heavily influenced by the Ramones, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and Chixdiggit!. To date Batfoot have played with bands such as The Tenants, No Fun At All, The Flatliners, Strike Anywhere, Magic Dirt, Rehab For Quitters, Guttermouth, The Dickies, The Adolescents, Toe To Toe, MxPx, Frenzal Rhomb, Nancy Vandal, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Teenage Bottlerocket, and The Hard-Ons. The idea for the film came during the making of Satya (1998), when director Ram Gopal Varma pitched a story about a chain smoker's encounter with someone who despises smoking. Varma later incorporated his own idea of the story as a short segment in his anthology film, Darna Mana Hai (2003). During the shooting of Kashyap's Black Friday, his assistant narrated him a different script about a chain smoker who wakes up without cigarettes and is unable to get any because of a curfew. Kashyap decided to take the story forward, taking inspiration from Quitters, Inc.

The film got censorship clearance in 2007, and was released after two years meeting universal acclaim. Nikhat Kazmi gave the film a three star out of five rating and mentioned: "It was indeed a difficult film to make, yet the director has managed to grapple with all the loose threads and put them together in a composite whole. The latter includes "That's My Story", "Little Rock", "I Think About You", and "Love, Me", as well as two new tracks: "A Soldier's Prayer" and "Quitters", the latter of which was co-written by Canadian country singer George Canyon. Both of the new tracks were released as singles in 2007, and the former peaked at No. 59 on Hot Country Songs. Her first major role was in The Middleman, a sci-fi dramedy which aired on the ABC Family network for one season. There is a growing number of social network users who decide to quit their user account by committing a so-called virtual identity suicide or Web 2.0 suicide. A 2013 study in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking investigated this phenomenon from the perspective of Facebook users. The number one reason for these users was privacy concerns (48%), being followed by a general dissatisfaction with the social networking website (14%), negative aspects regarding social network friends (13%) and the feeling of getting addicted to the social networking website (6%). Facebook quitters were found to be more concerned about privacy, more addicted to the Internet and more conscientious.

No Smoking is a 2007 Indian neo-noir surreal psychological thriller film written and directed by Anurag Kashyap and co-produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and Kumar Mangat. The film stars John Abraham, Ayesha Takia, Ranvir Shorey and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles, while Bipasha Basu appears in an Item number. The film is loosely based upon the 1978 short story "Quitters, Inc." by Stephen King, which was previously adapted as one of three segments featured in Hollywood anthology film, Cat's Eye (1985). It became the second Indian film after Julie Ganapathi and first Hindi-language film to be adapted from a Stephen King work.

Jimmy is the father of Bailey (Kasey McKellar). When Jimmy attempts to take Bailey from The Dumping Ground, Mike (Connor Byrne) and May-Li Wang (Stacy Liu) inform Jimmy that they are legally responsible for Bailey. Inside, Mike and May-Li tell Jimmy he'll have to contact Social Services about getting Bailey back, but Jimmy devastates Bailey when he says that he wasn't expecting to get Bailey back straight away.

1910 Colorado School of Mines football staff (Stuart in middle) Stuart was the head football coach at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado from 1910 to 1911. In the first issue of The Colorado School of Mines Magazine, an article described Stuart's appearance at the "first night" in the school gymnasium in September 1910: "Coach Ted Stuart, in a stirring talk, impressed upon the men the absolute necessity of all who were physically able putting on a suit and coming out and trying out for the team and staying out. He stated emphatically that he did not want 'quitters,' but wanted men with the 'Mines Spirit.'" Stuart also wrote a lengthy article in the same issue about the 1910 rules changes.

The phenomenon was first described in a study titled "Quitters Never Win: The (Adverse) Incentive Effects of Competing with Superstars" by Jennifer Brown, which examined the performance of golfers at events with and without Tiger Woods. In contradiction to what intuition would suggest (namely that increased rivalry encourages better performance), Brown finds that the presence of a superstar is in fact associated with reduced competitor’s efforts in rank-order tournaments. The term "Okie" in recent years has taken on a new meaning in the past few decades, with many Oklahomans (both former and present) wearing the label as a badge of honor (as a symbol of the Okie survivor attitude). Others (mostly alive during the Dust Bowl era) still see the term negatively because they see the "Okie" migrants as quitters and transplants to the West Coast. Major trends in Oklahoma history after the Depression era included the rise again of tribal sovereignty (including the issuance of tribal automobile license plates, and the opening of tribal smoke shops, casinos, grocery stores, and other commercial enterprises), the rapid growth of suburban Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the drop in population in Western Oklahoma, the oil boom of the 1980s and the oil bust of the 1990s. In recent years, major efforts have been made by state and local leaders to revive Oklahoma's small towns and population centers, which had seen major decline following the oil bust.
