Harrow had seven veterans from the 1909 match. Harrow came to the match unbeaten in 1910, having beaten the Free Foresters, Harlequins, Quidnuncs and the Household Brigade earlier in the season. Eton had lost to Free Foresters, Authentics and Butterflies. Two Old Harrovians, Stanley Jackson and Archie MacLaren, had been England captains in the preceding five years.

He represented Kent County Cricket Club in a single first-class match in 1867, MCC seven times, the Gentlemen of Marylebone Cricket Club once and Gloucestershire three times in 1877, restricted in his opportunities at the top level of cricket by his military service. He played non-first-class cricket for clubs such as MCC, I Zingari, Quidnuncs and appeared twice for Devon in 1880.

He was a member of the polo team that won the inter- regimental polo tournament in India in six consecutive years (1907–12). In 1913 he was a member of the Quidnuncs team, which won the Champion, Whitney, and Coronation Cups. He was a 9 handicap player and reached the final of the Khadir Cup in 1910. Harold Steel did not return to Uppingham. Instead, he went to Repton where he was in the First XI in 1879 and 1880, making a good reputation as a batsman. Having been at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, for three years, he played sporadically for Lancashire from 1883 to 1896. He preferred good-class club cricket in which he appeared for Liverpool Cricket Club, Quidnuncs and others.

He batted at number ten in both innings, and did not bowl. He suffered a pair during a match between Worcestershire and Herefordshire in 1871. During his time at Cambridge University, Lyttelton frequently appeared for the "Quidnuncs", a cricket club generally populated by former university cricketers who had earnt a blue. The printer and bookseller, Sarah Cotter, operated from the coffee house from 1751 to 1774, taking over from her brother who worked from there from 1744 until his death in 1751. The customers of Dick's were described in 1740: "Ye citizens, gentlemen, lawyers and squires, Who summer and winter surround our great fires, Ye quidnuncs! who frequently come into Pue's, To live upon politicks, coffee, and news." After Richard Pue's death in 1722, his wife Elizabeth ran the coffee house and printing business, which in turn their son Richard took over from her by 1731.

Other matches were played against Cali, Medellín, Caracas (team included ex-West Indies Test cricketer Tony White), Curaçao, Lima, the Banks, BEA Silver Wing Club, the California Cricket Club (on their South American Tour), the Quidnuncs (including Dudley Owen-Thomas, David Hays and Derek George), and finally in February 1979 Derrick Robins' XI. The B.S.C. (with Tony White) was the only side to bowl them out (for 184) during their South American tour. Norman Bracht took 5–74 in 20 overs and White 3–70 in 22.

Lyttelton was part of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) team which played the university at Lord's Cricket Ground in June that year. He batted at number seven, and after scoring a duck in the first innings, he scored four runs in the second of a low-scoring match in which only W. G. Grace passed 50 runs in an innings. He made a second appearance for the MCC that summer, as part of a side which beat a Worcestershire team containing two of his brothers by three wickets. He played little more notable cricket, turning out for the Quidnuncs and the Free Foresters infrequently.
