Even before the completion of the McKinley Hill Stadium, the UFL signed a deal with Megaworld in 2011 that will give the league priority on the field usage for the next four years. The stadium was unveiled on February 7, 2013 by Megaworld. The league had its first game at the stadium on February 9, 2013, a Division One match between Manila Nomads and Philippine Air Force, with Nomads winning the match, 1–0. A doubleheader was supposed to mark the stadium's debut but the match in Division Two between Cebu Queen City United FC and Dolphins United FC got cancelled due to the forfeiture of Cebu Queen City United FC.
Queen City was laid out in May, 1867 by Doctor George W. Wilson and consisted of a town square surrounded by fifteen other blocks. He chose the name in the hope the town would become "the Queen of the prairies." Dr. Wilson also constructed the first home in the new town, while Henry Bartlett is responsible for building the towns's first hotel. In ensuing months, she continued operations along the rivers of Arkansas. Off Clarendon, Arkansas, 24 June, two regiments of Confederate cavalry supported by artillery attacked Queen City disabling the paddle wheel steamer arid forcing her commander to surrender. The first Sunfest rock festival was held from August 17 to August 19 of 1990. The lineup for the festival included Bachman–Turner Overdrive, Doug and the Slugs, The Northern Pikes, The Tragically Hip, Queen City Kids, Kenny Shields and The Watchmen. About 21,000 people attended the festival.
Cincy Blues Fest is an annual blues music festival, held on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is believed to be the largest all-volunteer blues festival in the U.S. Over the years it has showcased such acts as Lonnie Mack, Otis Rush, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Lil' Ed & the Blues Imperials, Bobby Rush, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Watermelon Slim & the Workers, Slick Ballinger, the Chicago Allstars, Bob Seeley, Big Joe Duskin, Ricky Nye, and Sonny Moorman. The festival was originally called the Queen City Blues Fest, when the parent organization was called the Queen City Blues Society. These names changed in 1993 to Cincy Blues Fest and Cincy Blues Society, respectively.
The Kings were structured similar to the Los Angeles gangs, but instead of "Original Gangsta" (OG) or "Baby Gangsta" (BG) the Queen City Kings used "Original King" (OK) or "Baby King" (BK). The Kings color is black but the Hidden Valley Kings wear the color green for their neighborhood, the Hidden Valley neighborhood sign is green and Hidden Valley Elementary school colors are green. The 2007 National Premier Soccer League season was the 5th season of the NPSL. The season started in May 2007, and ended with the NPSL Championship Game in August 2007. Southern California Fusion finished the season as national champions, beating Queen City FC 1-0 in the NPSL Championship game in San Diego, CA.

The city of Clarendon was officially incorporated in 1859. In 1864, the city was burned to the ground by Union forces in retaliation for the sinking of the tinclad Union gunboat USS Queen City by forces under the command of Confederate Brigadier General Joseph O. Shelby. The town's charter was dissolved in 1884, and it was reincorporated in 1898.

At its annual meeting that December, the National Association expressly permitted professional clubs and thus employment contracts for players. The current waiting shelter for Amtrak service in Cumberland sits on the original site of the Queen City Station. This was a 174-room hotel constructed by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in 1871 with a ballroom, a 400-seat dining room, and gardens and fountains. The station was demolished in 1972, an act which spurred conservation efforts for architecturally and historically significant structures.
Queen City is currently composed of three home teams: the Alley Kats, the Devil Dollies and the Saucies. Plumas (sternwheel steamer): She was one of the original vessels consolidated into the company in 1854. On July 11, 1854 she hit a snag and sank on the Sacramento River. 1891 map The Queen and Crescent Route was a cooperative railroad route in the Southeastern U.S., connecting Cincinnati (the "Queen City") with New Orleans (the "Crescent City") and Shreveport. Inaugurated in the 1880s, the name was retained by Southern Railway when they consolidated ownership of the entire route in 1926, and given to their named passenger train for the route through 1949.
Then when she was 14 years of age, she published a volume of her writing. She also published her own four-page, 12-column newspaper, entitled The Queen City Enterprise. As a monthly newspaper, it flourished for nearly two years and gave her the first taste of life in journalism. This was considered a huge accomplishment for young women at her age.
Jasper was killed in the Siege of Savannah in 1779. During the antebellum years, cotton was cultivated with slave labor on large plantations in the county. This was the heyday of the county seat of Paulding, Mississippi, called the "Queen City of the East." It was a trading center for the plantations, as well as for yeomen farmers in the area.
Aneta was first settled in 1882. It was named after Anna Roseta Mitchell, the first woman settler in the community. Because the Sheyenne River flows nearby, the town was nicknamed, "The Queen City of the Upper Sheyenne." In 1896, the Great Northern Railway extended a branch line 28 miles from Hope to Aneta and the city quickly became a boomtown.
The station began broadcasting on April 27, 1927, as KPCB on 650 kilocycles. Its founder was Moritz Thomsen of the Pacific Coast Biscuit Company (hence the call sign KPCB) and it was powered at 100 watts. Among its announcers was Chet Huntley, later of television's Huntley- Brinkley Report. In 1935, Saul Haas's Queen City Broadcasting Company took over the station.
The Monday through Friday routes include Morning Service, Red Line, Green Line, Gold Line, Blue Line and Evening Service. The Purple Line to Seton Drive and the towns of Midland, Barton, Lonaconing, Westernport and Luke operates Tuesdays and Fridays only. Now run by Marianne Adams, Theatre School offers school-year classes of a wide variety, and the celebrated Summer Theatre School. Adams also coordinated the Summer Conservatory, bringing burgeoning artists from across the country to the picturesque locale for rousing Summer Stock. Grandstreet's historic building, beautiful setting and excellent plays is a must during any visit to Montana's "Queen City," Helena.

Together with the Ouachita Mountains, the area is known as the U.S. Interior Highlands. The Salem Plateau, named after Salem, Missouri, makes up the largest geologic area of the Ozarks. The second largest is the Springfield Plateau, named after Springfield, Missouri, nicknamed the "Queen City of the Ozarks". On the northern Ozark border are the cities of St. Louis and Columbia, Missouri.

The two "Queen-Cities" faced in the inaugural home match at Nippert Stadium for FC Cincinnati in April 2016. Cincinnati would claim the rivalry cup in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons. A 150 foot veranda hosted lockers, rowboats, skiffs, and sailboats for rental. The number of visitors to the beach decreased due to sewage and industrial dumping in the Ohio River. The beaches vanished after a series of dams and locks raised the level of the Ohio River. In the 1920s Queen City Beach was renamed "Riviera Beach" and then "Horseshoe Gardens" in 1930.
Cincinnati also had a freeway revolt: the Colerain, Queen City and Taft Expressways were never built (though a particularly congested segment of Queen City Avenue was eventually bypassed in 2005) and the Red Bank Expressway, designed as a freeway connection between Interstate 71 and U.S. Route 50, was built instead as a surface artery, albeit with limited intersections. There are prominent ramp stubs at the interchange of Interstate 74 and Beekman Street that would have connected I-74 to the Colerain Expressway. In addition, the Cross County Highway, which was designed to connect the eastern and western sides of I-275 through Hamilton County, was built, but never fully completed. For years, the highway existed in two separate segments; the eastern segment was built between Galbraith Road and Montgomery Road (just east of I-71) in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Queen City FC was an American soccer team based in Buffalo, New York, United States. Founded in 2006, the team played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national amateur league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, until 2008, when the franchise was sold to Mike Share in October 2008 and the team changed names to Buffalo City FC. The team played its home games All-High Stadium. The team's colors were sky blue and black. The Bank Street Grounds is a former baseball park located in Cincinnati. The park was home to three major league baseball teams. The National League Cincinnati Stars club in 1880, the current Cincinnati Reds franchise from 1882 to 1883 and the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds of the Union Association in 1884. It succeeded the Avenue Grounds as the home site for professional ball in the Queen City.
Farther into Gainesville is SR 53 Connector/SR 60 (Candler Road/Queen City Parkway). In the main part of the city, US 129/US 129 Business/SR 11 (Athens Highway) meets the concurrency. US 129/SR 11 heads south toward Jefferson, while US 129 joins the concurrency through the rest of the city. Meanwhile, US 129 Business/SR 11 heads north into the heart of Gainesville.
Games are played between November 1 and April 30 against "TRBL-sanctioned" teams. League teams are free to schedule as many games as they choose. All teams who play at least 10 sanctioned games are eligible for the playoffs. As a result of the change, five members (Carolina Gladiators, Fayetteville Crossover, PrimeTime Players, Queen City Express, and South Carolina All-Stars) left the league.
The media attention given to the site inspired a couple to purchase the building as their home. In 1998 the Queen City Pool in Tuscaloosa was abandoned with an uncertain future. Today, the property has been restored as the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum. The annual list has encouraged property owners, city officials, local organizations, and potential buyers to preserve these properties and keep them viable.
Dobbs was born in Queen City, Missouri, where his father was a worker in a coal company garage. Atlanta High School is a public high school located in Atlanta, Texas, US. It is classified as a 3A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is part of the Atlanta Independent School District located in northeast Cass County which shares a border with the Queen City Independent School District. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.
Bob Burns (born Robin Burns) grew up on the town of Van Buren, Arkansas. As a boy, Burns played trombone and cornet in the town's "Queen City Silver Cornet Band". Before radio, Burns was known as a musician, creating his own string band at the age of 13. During his teeming years, Burns invented an instrument which he called a "bazooka" out of a gas pipe.
The current seal is much simpler in design, simply featuring the city's service mark atop a golden seal. On official documents, a green ribbon is typically found below it. The crown references the city's nickname of The Queen City, which references its namesake, Queen Charlotte. It also represents unity of the city's agencies as they work in unison for the good of its residents.
The Great American Tower at Queen City Square, is a 41-story, skyscraper in Cincinnati, Ohio which opened in January 2011. The tower was built by Western & Southern Financial Group at a cost of $322 million including $65 million of taxpayer-funded subsidies. Construction on the tower had begun in July 2008. Half the building is occupied by the headquarters of the Great American Insurance Company.
A number of commercial distributors produce and sell goetta in the parts of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana near Cincinnati. Glier's Goetta, established in 1946, produces more than 1,000,000 lb (450 metric tons) annually, around 99 percent of which is consumed locally in Greater Cincinnati. Queen City Sausage is the next largest producer, while multiple small and artisanal producers also make goetta in and around Cincinnati.
The Queen was a Canadian automobile manufactured in Toronto between 1901 and 1903 by the Queen City Cycle & Motor Works. The car was a 4-seater powered by an 823cc single-cylinder engine mounted under the front seat. The clutch and gearbox were so rough that passengers were sometimes thrown out. In 1903 company president Cornelius Ryerson gave up on the company and purchased a Cadillac.

Buffalo RiverWorks is a multipurpose indoor venue and restaurant located on the shore of the Buffalo River in Buffalo, New York. The property incorporates the original Wheeler grain elevator that was built in 1909. Featuring two open-air hockey rinks, the venue has hosted the Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament since 2014. The venue has been home to the Queen City Roller Derby since 2016.

There Allensworth dined with Gordon's family, was given a room of his own, and felt he first walked as a free man. With the war continuing, in 1863 Allensworth enlisted in the US Navy, where he earned his first pay as a free man. He was soon promoted to Captain's steward and clerk, and served on the gunboats Queen City and Tawah for two years.
In 1901, local citizens paid for building Indianola College. A promotional brochure published in 1907 called Wynnewood "the Queen City of the Famous Washita Valley." By 1918, the town had also added the Commercial Hotel and a cotton gin. Early newspapers published in Agra were the Agra News and the Queen City Times. However, both the nickname and the newspaper passed into oblivion many years ago. In the 21st Century, most of the permanent residents have been employed by the oil and gas industry, and/or commuted to work in other towns.
The UFL started to use Megaworld's Emperador Stadium on 9 February 2013. The first league game in the stadium, Dolphins United versus Cebu Queen City United, got cancelled as the latter forfeited the match. The second match slated for the same day, Philippine Air Force against Nomads FC, became the first official league game in the stadium. Nomads FC won, 1–0, against Philippine Air Force.

In the playoffs, the Royals dealt with injuries and would be defeated by the Detroit Pistons in 4 games.
Nearby Queen City had been established circa 1854. Surveyors came to the current location of Corning in 1857, though the area was largely uninhabited (except by the Icarians) until 1869. The first Adams County seat was established by act of the Iowa Legislature on January 12, 1853, at Quincy. The building was later used as a schoolhouse and in 1932, it was torn down.
The Taylor's Daughters Historic District is the local historic district. At the turn of the 20th century, Bellevue, like Dayton, was known for its white sandy beaches. A resort called Queen City Beach opened in the summer of 1902 and extended from Washington Avenue to the Dayton city line. At its time it was considered one of the largest inland bathing resorts in the country.

Among the factions were the Wilmore Kings (WMK), Tuckaseegee Kings (TSK), Beatties Ford Kings (BFK), Derita King (DTK), North Side Jamaican Kings (NJK), Westside Kings (WSK) the Creek Town Kings (CTK or FOC), The Cedar Greene Kings (CGK), the Woodview Kings (WVK), the Hidden Valley Kings (HVK) among others of these various sets, the Hidden Valley Kings became the most prominent. Eventually, the Hidden Valley Kings gained independence as a gang, as the original concept and philosophy of the Queen City Kings seemed to have died with Korn, the gangs former leader. Korn's half-brother began to get heavily involved in rap and radio (many of the Original Queen City Kings were actually aspiring rap artists, with a full LP to their credit), seemingly leaving the gang life behind.
In 1981 he co-founded the Queen City Quordinators (QCQ), a joint fundraising umbrella group for LGBT groups in Charlotte. QCQ published a newsletter named "Q Notes" beginning in 1983. King was hired as the first editor of the newsletter, publishing it monthly through 1987. The festival takes place during the early part of August annually. All performances take place at historic venues in downtown Staunton. The building's architect, Gyo Obata, designed the building to include a top inspired by Diana, Princess of Wales's tiara. Gyo was flipping through books when he came upon a picture of Diana wearing a crown. "That's perfect. Here we have the crown of the building, and the nickname for the city is Queen City," said Joe Robertson of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum remarking to Gyo when he first saw the picture.
The present-day site of Crookston first saw settlement by non-Indian people around 1872. It was the site of a federal land office by 1876 and sited on a portion of the Great Northern Railway that began operation by 1880. The town was incorporated on April 1, 1879 as "Queen City". By the end of that year, the town had a jail, graded streets, and a few plank sidewalks.
Lt Commander Leroy Fitch's fleet included the Brilliant, Fairplay, Moose, Reindeer, St. Clair, Silver Lake, Springfield, Victory, Naumkeag, Queen City which were tinclads and ironclads under the U.S. Navy Mississippi Fleet Command. Ironclad USS Naumkeag patrolled from the Kanawha Harbor of the Mouth of Kanawha area. Springfield guarded from Pomeroy towards Letart Islands. Victory's cannon balls have been found along Leading Creek, Ohio, behind the period's boat yards.
159 Queen City was all but forgotten, and not a significant part of written Adams County history, until Lake Binder was created as a water supply for nearby Corning. When the lake was dug, some tombstones and an estimated 200 gravesites were found. The remains and gravestones were moved to a new location, today just north of the lake, where a monument was built marking the abandoned town in 1980.
Queen City increased the power to 500 watts.Broadcasting Yearbook 1936 page 92 Haas, who was well connected in liberal politics and the business community, wanted a simple, pronounceable, and recognizable call sign for his new station. He chose KIRO, which is usually pronounced like the capital of Egypt, "Cairo." The call sign "KING," representing King County, Washington, the county in which Seattle is found, was not available at that time.
This peak was already home to the KING-TV transmitter and would soon be the site for KOMO-TV as well. Queen City Broadcasting was awarded Seattle's last remaining VHF TV license in 1958, and signed on as CBS affiliate KIRO-TV on February 8. Aside from a short period from 1995 to 1997 when it served as a UPN station, KIRO-TV has served as Seattle's CBS television affiliate since.

The twentieth century brought continued changes and improvements to the face of the "Queen City," its most popular nickname. The commercial and residential districts continued to fill with fine buildings bespeaking the prosperity of the community. By 1912 the first high school--North Sanpete High School—had been completed. The year 1912 also brought the Armory Hall, while the Elite Theater was constructed as a "fireproof" building in 1913.
On February 20, 1865, Catlin defeated Carolus Noyes for the mayoralty of Burlington in its first election with 413 votes to Noyes' 249 and won both wards and would serve one one-year term. In his mayoral address in 1866, he referred to Burlington as the "Queen City of New England", which it had been called as far back as 1848, leading to the popularization of the nickname.
French Icarian colony being rebuilt as a living history site near Corning, Iowa. Seen are replicas of the great hall and the community's 1860 schoolhouse. In 1852, Icarians purchased land in Adams County, Iowa to form a new permanent settlement, and Icarians began settling southwest of Queen City in 1853. In 1860, when the Nauvoo colony went bankrupt, many members of the community moved to the new site in Iowa.
In 1931, the University changed its mascot to the Bulls in order to distinguish UB from professional teams in the Queen City. The Bulls played every year until the outbreak of World War II mainly under the coaching guidance of Jim Peele who was at the helm from 1935 to 1942 and led the Bulls to a 38–34–1 record including a 6–2 season in 1942.

Aviation facilities were contracted to Reading Aviation for operation of the airfield. In addition, the FAA allowed some of the land surrounding the airport to be used by private industry, which allowed the current industrial park along Vultee Street to be established. The first recorded crime in Cincinnati's history was a petty theft in 1789. Under the judgement of William McMillan, informally appointed justice of the peace, one Patrick Grimes was sentenced to twenty- nine lashes after being caught stealing cucumbers. On day 3 Bear City fell 176-155 to Ohio Roller Derby to finish in tenth place. At the 2018 WFTDA Playoffs in Atlanta, Bear City was the twelfth seed and ended their weekend with a tight consolation round victory over Queen City Roller Girls, 218-212.

Q-Notes is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) newspaper serving North Carolina and South Carolina. It is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Published every other week, it has a circulation of 11,000 print copies and is the largest print publication serving the LGBT community in the American Southeast. The paper traces its origins to the monthly newsletter of the Queen City Quordinators, a Charlotte LGBT organization, which they began publishing in 1983.
In 2011, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs and the Cary Invasion announced the formation of the Tobacco Road Basketball League and their membership therein, thus leaving the Continental Basketball League. The Fayetteville Crossover then announced their move to this league as well. On 2 December 2011, the Carolina Gladiators and PrimeTime Players joined the league. Aikens attended Harding University High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a senior, he was named the All-Queen City Conference Offensive Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Mecklenberg County honors. Offensively, as a senior, he threw for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for 565 yards and five touchdowns, leading the team in both categories. Defensively, he recorded six interceptions, running back one 104 yards for a touchdown.
On June 17, 1858, the Bank of the Ohio Valley opened in Cincinnati. On June 23, 1863, the Third National Bank was organized. On April 29, 1871, Third National Bank came into possession of Bank of the Ohio Valley and by 1882 the bank's capital was around $16 million, considered to be the largest bank capital in the state at the time. In 1888, Queen City National Bank changed its name to Fifth National Bank.

A low pressure system produced one of the northernmost winter tornado outbreak on record, with strong tornadoes forming as far north as Wisconsin. An F4 tornado tore through the suburbs of St. Louis, killing three people, injuring 216, and destroying 168 homes. More than 1740 homes were damaged and more than 600 businesses were damaged or destroyed. Another F4 tornado destroyed 5 farms near Queen City, Missouri, completely leveling two of them.
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) is a medical center of health care, life sciences research and medical education institutions, co-located on in Buffalo, New York. The BNMC was founded in 2001 by a consortium (including the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Roswell Park Cancer Institute). This project comprises one of the five "Strategic Investment Areas" that make up Buffalo, NY's Queen City Hub Plan, the city's strategic plan for urban redevelopment.
Downtown Mercedes in 1915 Mercedes is known as "The Queen City of the Valley" or "La Reina del Valle". Mercedes was founded September 15, 1907, by the American Rio Grande Land & Irrigation Company, and was incorporated March 8, 1909. It is one of the oldest towns in the Rio Grande Valley, and the city celebrated its centennial in 2007. The city was located in Capisallo Pasture, part of Capisallo Ranch owned by Jim Welles.
The route climbs out of Sand Spring Valley and heads over the Queen City Summit, the highest point on the highway. After passing the summit, the route descends into the southern end of Railroad Valley, curving nearly due north for several miles as it follows the base of Reveille Range. As the mountains subside, the road turns westward again to head to its northern terminus at the junction of US 6 at Warm Springs.
Another team that claims lineage from the NABBP is the Buffalo Bisons, currently a minor league ("Triple A") baseball squad that counts the Niagara club as a predecessor. Like the Cincinnati situation, however, the Bisons have not operated continuously: the original Bisons moved to Winnipeg midway through the 1970 season, and the Queen City had no baseball until the Jersey City A's moved to town in 1979 and assumed the Bisons identity.

Kanopolis, for a variety of reasons, never became the "Queen City of the Midwest" that its backers "ballyhooed" it would become. Perhaps its biggest injury was when it lost a referendum by 75 votes to become the seat of Ellsworth County. Also, it had some contemporary antagonists. An editorial in a January 1887 paper from the Leavenworth Times calls Kanopolis a "buffalo wallow," a "scheme," and a "fraud" from an "eastern syndicate".
It was nicknamed "The Queen City". Cumberland was the terminus, and namesake, of the Cumberland Road (begun in 1811) that extended westward to the Ohio River at Wheeling, West Virginia. This was the first portion of what would be constructed as the National Road, which eventually reached Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. In the 1850s, many black fugitives reached their final stop on the underground railroad beneath the floor of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Upon graduating from Queen City College, Althaus was commissioned to the 1st Infantry of the Ohio National Guard and the U.S Army from August 1916 to July 1917. Althaus was professor of military science and tactics at Alabama Polytechnic Institute from 1923 to 1927. He was also a professor at North Carolina State College from 1935 to 1940. During the beginning of World War II, Althaus served as an Instructor of field artillery and assistant commander of Command "E".

After Longworth’s residency, the house was purchased by David Sinton, father of museum co-founder Anna Sinton Taft. David Sinton lived in the house with his daughter Anna, who married Charles Phelps Taft, the half-brother of President William Howard Taft.
It is said the town was named after tavern owner Nathan Teal's young daughter, but that story has never been confirmed. In any case, the City of Elmira, also called "The Queen City", was incorporated in 1864 from part of the town of Elmira and the village of Elmira. The remaining part of the town of Elmira exists still, surrounding the city on the west, north and east. The city and town share an intricately entwined history.
In August 1894, the first Northrop Looms to be sold to a mill were shipped from Hopedale to Queen City Cotton Mills at Burlington, Vermont. There were 729 looms in the order. The Northrop Loom relieved the weaver of much of the drudgery of her work and enabled her to run sixteen looms at once. It is a very loud device however, and the noise of hundreds operating at once in the same room must have been overwhelming.
Having studied agriculture and sheep-breeding in England in 1919, in 1920 Joynt became a soldier settler, dairy farming near Berwick. By 1929 he was pursuing business interests in Melbourne, where he was a pioneer of colour printing in Australia. About 1920 he had formed Queen City Printers Pty Ltd,Australia at the war, catalogue of exhibition of war photographs in colour, embracing Egypt, Gallipoli, Palestine, France, Belgium, Germany etc. / arranged by W.D. Joynt, [and] W.E. Dexter.
Buffalo Milk Company Building, also known as the Queen City Dairy Company Building, is a historic dairy building located in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. The original section was built in 1903–1905, and is a three-story, "L"-shaped, brick and sandstone building in the Renaissance Revival style. Additions to the building were made in 1910 and 1911. The dairy was first in city to be used for large-scale for the pasteurization and distribution of milk.
In 2002, Addison was arrested by Briggs near the Queen City Bridge in Manchester. In March 2003, Addison received first aid from Briggs after a shooting incident, assistance which may have saved the young man's life. The shooter, Thomas Williams, was arrested July 15, 2003, and pleaded guilty in March 2004. In October 2006, Williams was given a deal for a shortened sentence contingent upon his testifying for the prosecution in the Officer Briggs murder case.
On 5 September, Tazzoli returned to base; for this mission Fecia di Cossato received a Bronze Medal of Military Valor. On 14 November 1942 Fecia Di Cossato sailed for his last mission on Tazzoli. On 12 December the submarine sank the British steamer Empire Hawk (5,032 GRT) and the Dutch merchant Ombilin (5,658 GRT); on 21 December the British steamer Queen City (4,814 GRT) became Tazzoli's next victim, followed on Christmas by the American motorship Dona Aurora (5,011 GRT).
When Ouachita County was formed in 1842, American settlers changed the name to Camden. The city became an important port during the steamboat era when Camden became known as the “Queen City” of the Ouachita. In 1864, Camden became the unintended focus of the Red River Campaign, a major Civil War effort resulting in several significant battles. In 2000, Camden had a population of 13,154, but it lost 7.4 percent of its residents and recorded 12,183 in 2010.
The Paakantyi were considered to be a "vanishing tribe" by the mid-twentieth century. In recent times their descendants are concentrated in Wilcannia. At a conservative estimate of Wilcannia's approximately 600 residents, 68% are of Paakantyi descent. The town enjoyed a colonial boom, being the third largest inland port in those times, and was occasionally referred to, humorously and ironically, as "Queen City of the West", alluding to the nickname of the powerful river port in the US, Cincinnati.

Glenn Frank was born on October 1, 1887 in Queen City, Missouri. He joined the Methodist Church when he was 10, and became an evangelical when 12. Passionate for oratory and religion, Frank became a circuit rider and traveled with Billy Sunday for one summer in Iowa as a teenager. He talked his way into classes at Northwestern University in 1909 despite a lack of formal education, though he previously attended Kirksville State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri.
From north of Shortland Street, Queen Street is built on land reclaimed from the sea in the late 19th century (see Auckland waterfront article). There are several other 'Queen Streets' in the greater Auckland area, mostly in suburbs that were separate towns before being absorbed by a growing central city. Auckland was also called the "Queen City" since before the turn of the 20th century, though that term is now overshadowed by the nickname "City of Sails".
The Queen City Hotel was located on Park and E. Harrison Street. The hotel was built only a year after the B&O; completed its rail connection to Pittsburgh. This placed Cumberland at a major junction of the route northwest to Pittsburgh and the B&O; main line west of the Ohio River. The building was designed by Thomas N. Heskett of the B&O; Road Department in the Italianate style, and the construction cost was over $350,000.
In April 1963, the Deseret News Publishing Company, the for-profit media arm of the Salt Lake City-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), began purchasing stock in Queen City Broadcasting starting with a 10 percent share from several minority partners including Sen. Magnuson."KIRO minority to Mormons." Broadcasting, April 15, 1963, pg. 5 Six months later the LDS Church purchased an additional 50 percent, giving them majority control of the KIRO stations.
The northern reaches of the Northern Interior beyond the Omineca and Skeena-Bulkley regions is usually just referred to as "the North", although it also is considered part of the Northern Interior . "The North" may also refer to Prince George, one of the largest cities in the Interior and also the only major city in the Northern Interior (although that term can also apply to Prince George), which bears the sobriquet "Queen City of the North".
Several months later Mecham sold his interest because of ill health. The name was changed to "Frederick & Nelson" and they vowed to create the largest and finest store west of the Mississippi and north of San Francisco. Early customers included the local Indians and a thriving populace fueled by the news that Seattle would become the western terminus for the Great Northern Railway. In 1891, the partners acquired the Queen City Furniture Company and began selling new furniture.
The Ongiara on the Niagara River. The Ongiara was a steamboat that served most of her 33 year lifetime as a ferry on the Niagara River. She was built in Toronto by Melancthon Simpson, and commissioned in 1885 as the Queen City. In 1888 she was sold to the Niagara Transportation Company, which renamed her the Ongiara and started using her as a ferry passengers across the Niagara River, between Queenston, Ontario and Lewiston, New York.

It offers corporate and private financial services such as investment banking deposits, corporate and retail financing, peso and dollar deposits apart from the basic banking services. Queenbank started out as an 11-personnel, single-branch financial institution with Php 11-million paid-up capital.
Before the Black Hills Gold Rush of 1876, the area was used by Native Americans (primarily bands of Sioux but others also ranged through the area). Once the gold rush started, the city was founded in 1876 at the mouth of Spearfish Canyon, and was originally called Queen City. Spearfish grew as a supplier of foodstuffs to the mining camps in the hills. Even today, a significant amount of truck farming and market gardening still occurs in the vicinity.
East Coast Basketball League (ECBL) is a men's professional basketball minor league in the United States that began play in March 2015. The league is centered in the Carolinas with teams also in Georgia and Virginia. Five of the teams (Carolina Gladiators, Fayetteville Crossover, PrimeTime Players, Queen City Express, South Carolina All-Stars) in the ECBL previously played in the Tobacco Road Basketball League. The teams broke away from the TRBL due to changes in the league format.
Cincinnati Music Hall The Carew Tower is the 2nd tallest building and a great example of Art Deco. Carew Tower: The second tallest building in Cincinnati and a National Historic Landmark with an open air observation deck on 49th story. It was the basis for the Empire State Building and contains some of the finest examples of French Art Deco architecture. Great American Tower at Queen City Square: The tower replaced the Carew Tower as Cincinnati's tallest.
The Sphere - Cincinnati's Premier Sports Facility is home to two ice sheets that are home to the Queen City Steam travel hockey organization. It is also home to an inline hockey rink that has a large adult hockey league. There are also 6 basketball courts that host many tournaments, as well as, youth and adult leagues. Within the urban core of the city and its immediate surroundings, the Steps of Cincinnati offer an urban hiking experience.
The Lakeside Development, or the Lakeside Historic District, encompasses a historic company-built residential development in southern Burlington, Vermont. Isolated between the Vermont Railway railroad line and Lake Champlain and accessible only via Lakeside Avenue off Pine Street, the area was developed between about 1894 and 1910 by the Queen City Cotton Company, whose mill complex stood just to the east of the railroad line. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
Mike "King" Kelly The Association was crushed when the Reds left the league for a second time. The league placed a new franchise in the Queen City to fill the void left by the Reds' departure. The new Association club was owned by Chris von der Ahe, who also owned the St. Louis Browns. His new Cincinnati club would be captained by Mike "King" Kelly, whose major league career began in Cincinnati with the original National League Reds club of the 1870s.
Hudepohl Brewing Company became one of many Cincinnati breweries to thrive in the Queen City in the 1880s. Waves of German immigrants began settling in and around Cincinnati in the 1850s and '60s. These immigrants had a taste for the lager beer of their homeland and Cincinnati's German beer barons were only too willing to answer the demand. Hudepohl brewed golden lager, dark lager, seasonal bock beer and several other regional styles of lager that were popular in the German homeland.
Brothers Larry and Don Hess raced a Marlin in the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona. Sponsored by Queen City Rambler, a Charlotte, North Carolina AMC dealership, the car ran almost stock, even with a radio antenna. The passenger seats were removed, a roll bar installed, and the factory exhaust system replaced with open headers that exited below the doors. The Marlin retired after 80 laps with overheating and steering problems, and was reportedly sold as a used car after the race.
Seattle-Tacoma Box Company is a pioneering Seattle company established in 1889 by Jacob Nist and sons as "Queen City Box Manufacturing Company." For over a century, the Nist family has continuously owned, managed, and operated the company, producing wooden crates, boxes, containers and other wood products. Renamed "Seattle Box Company" in 1905, the business purchased a second manufacturing facility in Tacoma in 1922. The two enterprises merged efforts in 1975 as "Seattle-Tacoma Box Company," opening a new plant in Kent, Washington.
The county of Mecklenburg in the U.S. state of North Carolina, which includes the city of Charlotte, is named after the duchy. The City of Charlotte, known as "The Queen City" was named for Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III of Great Britain. Queen Charlotte was Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, born on 19 May 1744. She was the youngest daughter of Duke Charles Louis Frederick of Mecklenburg, Prince of Mirow and his wife Princess Elisabeth Albertine of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
In June 2010, the IceMen AAHL franchise suspended operations when Evansville acquired a franchise in the CHL. In August 2010, it was announced that the Madison Ice Muskies would be reinstated in the AAHL. In August 2010, it was also announced that the Queen City Storm were approved for membership in the AAHL as an expansion team. The Chi-Town Shooters left the league in August 2010 with plans to join a junior hockey league for the 2011–12 season.
Lehigh Valley International Airport is three miles (5 km) northeast of Allentown. The city's primary airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport, is located three miles (5 km) northeast of Allentown in Hanover Township and is operated by the Lehigh–Northampton Airport Authority. The airport has direct flights to Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago–O'Hare, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and cities in Florida. The region is also served by Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport, a two-runway facility located in South Allentown used predominantly for private aviation.
This location was known as the Pear Orchard because of the vast numbers of prickly pear cactus growing there at that time. Some sources state that the original name given to the city was "Diaz" in honor of Porfirio Diaz, then president of Mexico. Later it was supposedly renamed "Mercedes Diaz" in honor of the president's wife, and from that, Mercedes became the Queen City. This story, however, is historically inaccurate, given that neither of Diaz's two wives were named Mercedes.
The green field is used to convey ideals the city focuses on. As a city communications representative put it: Green has become somewhat of a de facto official color of the city. The city website uses many variants of green, e-mail signatures of city employees are green, city signs often use green, and the city's streetcars are painted green. The crown, which occupies about three-fifths of the flag, is an homage to the "Queen City" nickname that Charlotte has.
Younger daughter Tensel married her mother's dobro player, Brent Burke, in 2013. Sally and Tensel have since performed with their mother, and have begun their own group with their husbands named Next Best Thing. Since 1987 Rhonda and the entire Vincent family have hosted a large yearly bluegrass festival on land just west of Queen City, Missouri. The Sally Mountain Bluegrass Festival is traditionally held around the 4th of July and attracts music fans from across the U.S. and the world.
By 1906 the population had almost doubled again to reach 28,000, and the city was given the nickname "The Queen City." Between 1890 and 1930, Meridian was the largest city in Mississippi and a leading center for manufacturing in the South. As the population grew, a commercial district developed in the downtown area, made accessible by a mule- drawn trolley system that connected different parts of the city. The company that oversaw that system was the Meridian Street Railway Company, organized in 1883.
By 1892, the newspaper was printing ten thousand copies. His successes led the Afro-American Press League (a consortium of the roughly two hundred black newspapers being published in the country at the time) to ask Rudd to serve as its president. The enterprising Rudd served in this capacity even as he worked to keep his Queen City printing business and printing school afloat. Rudd was the founder of Colored Catholic Congress movement which held its first meeting in Washington, D.C. in 1889.
After starring in both football and basketball at Queen City High School (TX), Peters attended the University of Arkansas and played for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team. Originally recruited as a defensive tackle, he spent his freshman campaign as a reserve defensive lineman. He was then moved to the tight end spot, where he caught four passes for 37 yards as a sophomore. In his junior season, Peters registered 21 catches for 218 yards and four touchdowns, which earned him a second-team All-SEC selection.
Moore played college soccer at St. Lawrence University, where he was named to the All-Liberty League Second Team as a sophomore, the All-Conference Second Team as a junior, and the NSCAA/Adidas All-Regional Team, the Lotto Classic All-Tournament Team, the All-Liberty League First Team, and the Liberty League All-Tournament Team as a senior. During his college years Moore also played for Queen City in the National Premier Soccer League and the New Hampshire Phantoms in the USL Premier Development League.
Don Biggs now lives in Loveland, Ohio not far from Cincinnati. Biggs' number 22 jersey was retired in his honor and hung from the rafters of the local arena. He now works for a local electrical supply company and is involved in local hockey programs, where he runs elite, private and team skill clinics as well as youth hockey clinics. He has been the Head Coach and General Manager of the Queen City Steam in the Tier III junior hockey league for the past 3 years.
Antebellum Cincinnati played a large role in the abolitionist movement, partially due to its location as a major city in the free state of Ohio directly across the river from the slave state Kentucky. The "Queen City" became a major migration path for escaped slaves. Leading abolitionists such as Lyman Beecher, James Birney, Salmon P. Chase, Levi Coffin, and Theodore Weld frequently spoke or wrote in support of freeing the slaves. They often encountered local resistance, including violent actions from those with opposing viewpoints.
It is particularly well known for its "auto mile", which includes approximately a dozen new and used automobile dealerships. As the road enters Allentown from the west, it also runs by Queen City Airport, an Allentown airport used mostly by small, privately owned aircraft. The South Mall, in Salisbury Township, is located on Lehigh Street. The Emmaus side of Lehigh Street is the location of Shangy's, a beer distributor with the largest selection of domestic and global beers in the nation (over 3,000 in all).
Not content to have any competition, the California Steam Navigation Company lowered its rate to $1/ton. Citizens' Steam Navigation Company built a larger ship, Queen City, but at the low prices they had to charge to compete, it lost money on every load. Citizen's Steam Navigation could not find sufficient financing to continue operations under these circumstances. On October 1, 1855 it signed a contract giving the California Steam Navigation Company control over its ships, effectively reinstating the company's monopoly on transportation to Marysville.
Tuck was born on March 29, 1979. He grew up in the Queen City neighborhood of South Dallas, where he attended Lincoln High School, and studied music at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. After dropping out of college, Tuck returned to South Dallas and begin performing rap music. He joined a seven piece band Dirty South Rydaz and recorded a successful independent solo album, Purple Hulk, in 2004 that led to Big Tuck and Dirty South Rydaz being signed by Universal in November 2005.

The Scenicruiser caused GMC's top competitors, Flxible and Beck, to bring out similar offerings. Flxible introduced the semi deck and a half Vista-Liner 100, a 35-foot coach (208 produced between 1955 and 1959) and Beck produced three similar 35 foot coach models for a total of 29 coaches. Beck also built twelve 40 foot Scenicruiser lookalikes in 1955 powered by the 300 HP Cummins NHRBS diesel engine. They were Beck's model DH1040 and some were delivered new to Queen City Trailways (later Continental Southeastern Lines).
Spokane Transit operates four stops at Spokane International Airport, with bus routes 60 and 63. The airport is also served by the WSDOT's Travel Washington Gold Line, Northwestern Trailways, Wheatland Express, Queen City Shuttle, and Special Mobility Service. A consolidated rental car facility is located adjacent to the Ground Transportation Center on the north end of the main terminal. The consolidated facility opened in November 2008, replacing several satellite operations, and is intended to meet passenger growth at the airport for 20 years after its opening.

In 1887, industries in Cincinnati produced more than 200 million dollars in goods and employed 103,325 people. It had become "an important industrial, political, literary, and educational center in both Ohio and the United States" by 1890. By the end of the 19th century, its leading industries were iron production, woodworking, cloth production, and meatpacking.
"Cherry Wine" is a 1953 song by Little Esther written by Henry Glover. History's Headlines: The Queen City Airport: A 65 year saga, 1947-2012 Due to budgetary cutbacks the Reserve Training Center at Reading was inactivated on 1 May 1950 and reassigned to New Castle County Airport, Delaware. The Air Force closed its facilities at Reading airport and it returned to civil control. In 1951, the Air National Guard facilities in Allentown was turned over to Air Products and Chemicals. Air Products paid $12,000/year in rent and that money was used to maintain the airport.
The resort stayed open as a dance club and rented boats, but a series of floods caused severe damage. As of 2008 Bellevue Beach Park marks the location of where the Queen City Beach resort once sat. Bellevue is becoming the bedroom community of Northern Kentucky, while its neighboring cities—Covington and Newport— are becoming the business and entertainment centers. Between 2005 and 2006, the average residential sale price increased by 89 percent, surpassing the market average of every other neighborhood in the Greater Cincinnati area.
The Green Line operates two loops as well; Loop 1- - Downtown to Frederick St, Sheetz at Naves Cross Rd, Western Maryland Recovery, turn around at Bedford Rd & Acre Lane (Volunteer Fire Department), to return to Downtown Cumberland by Bedford Rd and Bedford St; and Loop 2- (Former Green Line) – Downtown to Centre St, National Hwy, Braddock Square, Country Club Mall and Walmart, Winchester Rd, McMullen Hwy, Dingle, Greene St to Queen City Towers, and return to Downtown Cumberland. The Gold Line serves as a link from Cumberland, the Country Club Mall and Frostburg, beginning from Downtown Cumberland to West Side, Queen City Towers, Greene St, Dingle and I-68 to the Country Club Mall and Walmart, National Highway, LaVale Plaza, Frostburg Food Lion, Frostburg Plaza (ACS), Frostburg Main St, Bowery St, Braddock Rd to Active Network, College Ave & Maple St (FSU), Meshach Frost Village, Broadway, Frostburg Plaza, Food Lion, National Hwy, Country Club Mall and Walmart, and return to Downtown Cumberland, via I-68. The Evening Service is also a combination of routes to provide service from 3:30 pm until 8:00 pm.
Bangor was the first city in New England (and one of the first in the United States) with an electric street railroad system, thanks to an earlier local businessman, Francis Clergue, who went on to build one of North America's greatest hydro-power centers at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Graham came to consolidate and manage Bangor's electrical utilities through his connections to the General Electric Corporation, which held a number of local investments.Wayne E. In 1971, Frank Balch, who had joined WJOY as an announcer in 1951 and had become president of the Vermont Broadcasting Corporation, acquired majority control of WJOY-AM-FM. The next year, on August 14, 1972, WJOY-FM became WQCR; the call letters were said to stand for "Wonderful Queen City Radio". The station continued to have an easy listening sound. 1975 saw two major developments for WQCR. In February, it flipped to a rock format; in July, it increased its effective radiated power from 3,200 watts to 33,000, doubling its coverage area.
"New York style" baseball boomed in the United States after the end of the Civil War. Scattered clubs from as far away as Fort Leavenworth, Kansas sent delegates to the meeting of the game's national association in December 1865, roughly tripling membership from 30 to 90. The "Queen City of the West," Cincinnati was not represented, but at least two baseball clubs were formally constituted that season and one established ballclub officially adopted the New York game. Alfred Goshorn was the first president of the Cincinnati Base Ball Club, established July 23, 1866.
He was involved with setting up an exhibit, "Publicly Identified: Coming Out Activist in the Queen City" , at the Levine Museum of the New South in July 2014. Brockington was also mentoring transgender youth. He spoke in an 8-minute documentary made in 2014 by three Elon University students, "BrocKINGton", about his experience being bullied because he was transgender, and being hospitalized for self-harming. He was active in the faith community, and participated in the Trans Faith and Action Network Conference held in Charlotte in August 2014.

O'Flaherty General Jo Shelby, Undefeated Rebel pg 209-211 Reassigned with Shelby to the Clarendon, Arkansas area, Edwards' intelligence network located the Union ironclad USS Queen City. When Shelby's feint northword encouraged its Union Army defenders to leave the ironclad, thereby leaving it essentially undefended, Shelby silently returned and captured it. A new college football bowl game in Charlotte, North Carolina, was established in 2002 by Raycom Sports. The game was certified by the NCAA as the Queen City Bowl, which became the Continental Tire Bowl (2002–2004), Meineke Car Care Bowl (2005–2010), and Belk Bowl (2011–2019) prior to its current name. The game previously featured a matchup between the No. 5 selected Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team and the No. 3 selected American Athletic Conference (AAC). Originally, the bowl selected a team from the Big East Conference, until that conference's breakup in 2013.

In 2014, the Furies returned to Division 2 Playoffs, this time in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, entering as the second seed and ultimately coming in 5th place. In March, 1866 he traveled back to Texas, Baker, now on the run from Union authorities, went on a killing spree, during which he killed two men, W.G. Kirkman and John Salmons. Salmons had previously killed one of Baker's gang members, Seth Rames, brother to gang member Lee Rames. He also killed a local man named George W. Barron, who had previously taken part as a member of a posse hunting Baker. The gang was active in the areas of Queen City, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas during that time.

After two years of leasing the property to local companies, in 1881 the city entered a 25-year lease to an entity called Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railway, which was held by an English corporation controlled by German-born Parisian banker Frédéric Émile d'Erlanger. Soon Erlanger held all five segments of railroad from Cincinnati to New Orleans, and west from Meridian, Mississippi to Shreveport, Louisiana. This was dubbed the Queen and Crescent Route, connecting the Queen City to the Crescent City. Erlanger sold his interest in 1890.
The Queen City Hotel was constructed in 1871 by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O;) in Cumberland, Maryland to serve both as a train station and as a destination. Hosting 174 rooms, it also had such features as formal gardens with a fountain, a ballroom and 400-seat dining room. It was torn down in 1972 to make room for a new main United States Post Office and Distribution facility with a much smaller station for Amtrak service between the new Post Office and the railroad tracks.

Suburbia returned to Division 2 Playoffs in 2014 as the ninth seed at the tournament in Duluth, Minnesota. Suburbia made it to the fifth place game but lost to Treasure Valley Rollergirls 236-111 and finished in sixth place.
Burton served with the Sixth Indiana Cavalry and as President of the United States Pension Board at the war's end before establishing a medical practice in Kirksville in 1867. The home took on its secondary moniker of "The Parrish Place" in 1895 when it was purchased by Doctor A. Washington Parrish. Doctor Parrish had a medical practice in Queen City, Missouri before purchasing the home and moving his practice to Kirksville. Following Parrish's death in 1928, the home passed to his son, Doctor Bert Parrish, also a physician and surgeon in the community.
In the 1890s - long before the city took over the commercial parks - George F. Cotterill, assistant city engineer and chairman of the Paths Committee of the Queen City Good Roads Club, organized volunteers to build of bicycle paths, mainly along the lake. He was possibly inspired in this venture by the ideas of Schwagerl. In 1903, the park commissioners hired the Olmsted Brothers to design a comprehensive plan for the city's parks. They used Cotterill's bicycle paths as the basis of a citywide plan for a system of boulevards and parks.
He operated the rink for 11 years from 1938 to 1949, when it was known as the Queen City Gardens. In 2015, the arena was used as a filming location for Chokeslam, a professional wrestling-themed romantic comedy film. By 2017, the arena had been described as "deteriorating", and contrasting to other new developments at the grounds such as Mosaic Stadium. In 2017, Regina Exhibition Stadium was demolished in order to construct the International Trade Centre, a new $37 million, 150,000 square-foot convention space that would link all of Evraz Place's indoor facilities.
A few of the old barracks buildings remained until 2000; they housed the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education offices until they were relocated to the old Tuscaloosa High School (later Tuscaloosa Middle School) building on Queen City Avenue. Sports Plus Arena is a 1,200 seat multi-purpose arena in Evendale, Ohio, USA. The ice arena has two sheets of ice for ice hockey, figure skating, broomball, sled hockey and open skating. The arena also houses Shooters Bar and Grill, arcade games, two concessions, Northlands Pro Shop, a inflatable zone, roller hockey, 6 basketball courts used for basketball and volleyball, and a sports trainer. The arena was the home of the Cincinnati Swords and Queen City Steam junior hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League from 2007 to 2015.

The runways were used by the Allentown Jaycees for drag racing in order to get "hot rods" off the City streets. This did not last long, due to objections by local residents and also by the CAA as the runways were not being used by aviation. During the 1950s several plans were made to re-develop the land, but all never materialized due to the aviation clause in the transfer document to the City in 1947. In 1961, the City of Allentown took over full control of the facility and renamed it "Queen City Airport".
James Keeney, a land speculator in Chicago, purchased land at the site of modern-day WaKeeney from the Kansas Pacific Railway in 1877. He and business partner Albert Warren formed Warren, Keeney, & Co., surveyed and plotted the site in 1878, and established a colony there in 1879. They named the colony WaKeeney, a portmanteau of their surnames, and billed it as "The Queen City of the High Plains", advertising and holding celebrations to attract settlers. The colony grew rapidly, but crop failures drove settlers to leave in 1880 as quickly as they had come.
Ueltschi attended the University of Kentucky for a year but dropped out and instead started a barnstorming career, eventually teaching student pilots at the Queen City Flying Service in Cincinnati. When that company was destroyed in the Great Seattle Fire on June 6, 1889, Nist and his son Michael launched Queen City Box Manufacturing next to his home on the Northeast corner of Thomas and Rollin, which later became Westlake Avenue North. Honoring the family's Catholic religious faith, two of Nist's sons joined the Redemptorist ministry. Brother Raymond (John A. Nist) served parishes in Baltimore, Maryland, and Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
The Queen City Balladeers is a non-profit folk music organization in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was established in 1963 by a group of students at the University of Cincinnati, and for over forty years have been sponsoring and promoting folk and acoustic music in the Greater Cincinnati area. It is a non- profit, all-volunteer organization, and its membership includes a wide variety of people from all backgrounds and age groups. Many Balladeers are also part or full-time musicians, writers, instrument makers and sound technicians as well as avid fans of folk, acoustic and world music.
The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that has been played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, since 2002. Upon his arrival a movement of building business blocks began and he built the first five-story business block in Oklahoma Territory. Haskell organized and built most of the railroads running into Muskogee. He is said to have built and owned 14 brick buildings in the city. Through his influence, Muskogee grew to be a center of business and industry with a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants. Haskell often told others that he hoped Muskogee would become the “Queen City of the Southwest.” His success earned him clout in the politics of Indian Territory and the attention of the Creek Nation.
The Queen and Crescent Limited was a named passenger train operated by the Southern Railway in the United States of America. It was operated over a historic route that had been established in the late 1800s called the Queen and Crescent Route, which referred to Cincinnati as the "Queen City" and New Orleans as the "Crescent City". The train began service in 1926 and it was never a financial success. The Southern Railway operated the Queen and Crescent Limited from Cincinnati, Ohio to New Orleans, Louisiana via Lexington, Kentucky, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Birmingham, Alabama and Meridian, Mississippi.
The hills form a crescent from the east bank of the Ohio River to the west bank: Mount Adams, Walnut Hills, Mount Auburn, Vine Street Hill, College Hill, Fairmount, and Mount Harrison. The classic nickname "Queen City" is taken from an 1819 newspaper article and further immortalized by the 1854 poem "Catawba Wine". In it, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote of the city: For many years, Cincinnati was known as "Porkopolis"; this less desirable nickname came from the city's large pork interests. Newer nicknames such as "The 'Nati" are emerging and are attempted to be used in different cultural contexts.
After the war he came to live in Winooski, where he married Mary A. Thompson and became a band teacher. In 1878 he organized, with much coaxing from the citizens of Burlington, Sherman's Military Band, made up of musicians from the dormant Queen City Band. This band came to be well known all over the East as one of the finest touring Military Bands. McGuire went on to play with Kid Dakota, John Vanderslice, The Mountain Goats, Quruli and has been involved in giving drumming lessons. Matt Flynn currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio and performs in a group called the Queen City Silver Stars and The Matt Flynn Jazz Trio where he plays the upright bass.

Cumberland was a key road, railroad and canal junction during the 19th century and at one time the second largest city in Maryland (second to the port city of Baltimore—hence its nickname "The Queen City"). Jacob Michael Nist (March 28, 1839August 5, 1907) was a pioneering Seattle- based American businessman who established a container manufacturing company. Nist's company has been continuously owned and operated by six generations of the Nist family since 1889. A century after the founding of Queen City Box Manufacturing Company, Washington's Governor Booth Gardner honored Nist and his family, proclaiming October 23, 1989, to be "Nist Family Day", citing the company's contributions to the state's economy. As of 2015, the Seattle-Tacoma Box Company is an international company producing containers, storage vaults and packaging, with headquarters in Kent, Washington, as well as operations in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and New Zealand.
In the late 1950s, a group of Cincinnati-area residents launched a campaign for a radio station devoted to cultural and public affairs programming, particularly classical music. At the time, the only outlet for classical music in the Cincinnati area was WKRC, which only aired four hours of classical music per week. A committee of the Queen City Association sought to bring either a repeater of WOSU in Columbus or a standalone fine-arts station to Cincinnati. The University of Cincinnati, then a municipally-governed institution, responded to the demand, and WGUC went on the air for the first time on September 21, 1960.

The Leo Coffeehouse is run entirely by the Queen City Balladeers volunteers, and is held every Sunday evening from September through May. These artists love performing to a "listening room" such as Leo, so they willing perform free of charge.
Beginning in 1940, white residents began a terror campaign of bombing the newly acquired homes of black residents in traditionally white neighborhoods. This campaign ended only with the United States' entry into World War II. The bombings resumed in 1950 in the Queen City neighborhood just north of Bonton and continued, despite protests and petitions to the Governor pleading for the State to step in. The bombings only ceased when the City finally decided to start making arrests—although no one was ever convicted of the crimes. Jim Schutze's book, "The Accommodation" is the most thorough publication documenting this history of the South Dallas bombings.
The original site of the structure was bounded by Arlington Ridge Road and Memorial Drive. This dictated that, for the building to occupy as much land as possible, the new structure should be pentagonal. Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes and United States Commission of Fine Arts chairman Gilmore David Clarke both considered the site inappropriate, and convinced President Franklin D. Roosevelt to not only halve the size of the proposed building but also shift the site to that of the inadequate and dangerous Washington-Hoover Airport (which the government was trying to close anyway). The construction of the Pentagon led to the razing of Queen City.

Demolition City first qualified for WFTDA Playoffs as the eighth seed at the 2014 Division 2 tournament in Kitchener- Waterloo, Ontario, losing their opening game to Bear City Roller Derby, 180-177. The Dynamite Dolls bounced back with a 194-183 win against the Boulder County Bombers, but then lost to Queen City Roller Girls, 188-174. Demolition City then fell to Chicago Outfit Roller Derby 189-150 in their final game, and finished in eighth place. In 2015, Demolition City was the fifth seed at the Division 2 Playoff in Cleveland, and finished in second place, qualifying for an appearance at that year's WFTDA Championships at the Division 2 level.

On November 23, 1895, The Cincinnati Times-Star ran an editorial proposing a contest to choose a flag for the city, offering a $50 prize (). Mayor John A. Caldwell appointed a Flag Commission to judge submissions. At least 50 designs were submitted by local artists, but only four won conditional approval. Many designs were rejected for being too elaborate or for symbolizing the Queen City with a crown, a device the mayor considered inappropriate for a U.S. city. On January 24, 1896, the commission awarded the $50 to "Zero of Burnet Woods", Emil Rothengatter (1848–1939), for the design that is in use today.

Regina Exhibition Stadium, also known as Regina Stadium and Queen City Gardens, was an indoor arena at Evraz Place in Regina, Saskatchewan. Constructed in 1919, the venue was home arena of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League before the construction of the Agridome in 1977. The venue was notable for its use in agricultural exhibitions, sporting events, as well as concerts, having hosted acts such as The Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Chuck Barry' Biggest Show of Stars tour, and Johnny Cash among others. Jack Hamilton served as president of the Regina Rink Company which raised funds to install an artificial ice maker in the Regina Stadium.

On February 5, 1965, Queen City Broadcasting Company applied to build a new FM radio station in Del Rio at 94.3 MHz. The Federal Communications Commission approved the application on November 22, 1965, and KDLK-FM signed on August 15, 1966, a separately programmed outlet from KDLK (1230 AM). KDLK-AM-FM was sold in 1968 to Western Plains Broadcasting Corporation, headed by Gerald R. Mazur, for $185,000. Rodney Robertson acquired Western Plains in 1972; he moved the KDLK stations into a new house and outfitted the FM with stereo capability for the first time. KDLK-FM programmed a country music format, complementing the Top 40 sound of the AM frequency.
Phillip was born in Brooklyn to a Grenadian father and an English mother. He began high school at Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village, Queens before transferring to Brooklyn College Academy before his sophomore year and helped lead the team to the Public Schools Athletic League title in his first season with the Bobcats. Phillip did not play basketball as a senior due to eligibility issues and completed a fifth year at Queen City Prep in Charlotte, North Carolina. After averaging 26 points and seven rebounds per game, Phillip committed to play for South Carolina but was ultimately ruled academically ineligible to play.
Historically Cumberland was known as the "Queen City", as it was once the second largest in the state. Because of its strategic location on what became known as the Cumberland Road through the Appalachians, after the American Revolution it served as a historical outfitting and staging point for westward emigrant trail migrations throughout the first half of the 1800s. The 144th Infantry Regiment was created in April 1880, when six volunteer militia companies of the Texas State Guard consolidated into the 4th Texas Infantry. The six companies were the Lamar Rifles from Dallas, the Fannin Light Guards from Bonham, the Frontier Rifles from Henrietta, the Gate City Guard from Denison, the Johnson County Guard from Cleburne, and the Queen City Guards from Dallas. In 1898, the 4th Texas Volunteers were mustered for federal service in the Spanish–American War, and they were redesignated as the Second Infantry, Texas Volunteers, but they never deployed or saw combat. In 1903, the regiment regained its 4th Texas moniker after a state military force reorganization.

In 1861, he was one of the more successful discoverers of rich silver lodes in El Dorado Canyon on the west side of the river above Fort Mohave. There he prospected, staked out claims for the Techatticup and Queen City Mines, in what became the Colorado Mining District then rushed to San Francisco to spread the word of the strike and sold his claims to mining speculators including George Hearst for a huge profit. In 1862, he discovered the Moss Mine on the east side of the Colorado River, 9 miles from Fort Mohave in what became the San Francisco Mining District in the Spring of 1863. He dug out an estimated $250,000 in gold in a small pocket.

The city was originally known as "Pile of Bones"—the English translation of the Cree place name "oskana kâ- asastêki" (lit. "Bones, which are piled")—because of the large amounts of buffalo bones on the banks of the Wascana Creek, a spring runoff channel rising some couple of kilometres to the east of Regina and gradually becoming a substantial coulee as it approaches the Qu'Appelle Valley some ten kilometres to the north. In 1882, Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, wife of the Duke of Argyll, who was then the Governor General of Canada, named the new community Regina (Latin for queen), after her mother, the Queen. giving rise to frequent use of the sobriquet Queen City.
A massive tornado outbreak sequence struck a large portion of the US, with April 30 and May 1 being the most prolific days with 29 and 19 tornadoes touching down respectively. On April 30, a long-tracked, half-mile wide F2 tornado traveled 68.8 miles through Diboli, Burke, and San Augustine, Texas, injuring 25. Later, a narrow, but long-tracked F3 tornado moved through Atlanta, Texas, Queen City, Texas, and Fouke, Arkansas, injuring one. A second long-tracked F3 tornado grew to a mile-wide as it tracked northeast through Malta, Texas and Mineral Springs, Arkansas into Nashville, Arkansas before turning southeast and striking Rosston, injuring two along its 111.6 mile path.
It was for a time Texas' largest city, known as the "Queen City of the Gulf". It was devastated by the unexpected Galveston Hurricane of 1900, whose effects included massive flooding and a storm surge which nearly wiped out the town. The natural disaster on the exposed barrier island is still ranked today as the deadliest in United States history, with an estimated death toll of 6,000 to 12,000 people. The city subsequently reemerged during the Prohibition era of 1919–1933 as a leading tourist hub and a center of illegal gambling, nicknamed the Free State of Galveston until this era ended in the 1950s with subsequent other economic and social development.
From 1869 until 1982, Seattle was known as the "Queen City". Seattle's official nickname is the "Emerald City", the result of a contest held in 1981; the reference is to the lush evergreen forests of the area. Nicknamed the "Queen City", like its county a few years earlier, Charlotte was named in honor of German princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who had become the Queen Consort of Great Britain and Ireland in 1761, seven years before the town's incorporation. A second nickname derives from the American Revolutionary War, when British commander General Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis occupied the city but was driven out by hostile residents. As the Indiana Gas Boom began, this discovery led new businesses that could use natural gas, such as glass-making, to move to the city. Anderson grew to such proportions that a Cincinnati newspaper editor labeled the city "The Pittsburgh on White River." Other appellations were "Queen City of the Gas Belt" and (because of the vulcanizing and the rubber tire manufacturing business) "Puncture Proof City." In 1897 the Interurban Railroad was born in Anderson. Charles Henry, a large stock holder, coined the term "Interurban" in 1893. It continued to operate until 1941. The year 1912 spelled disaster for Anderson: the natural gas ran out, due to the residents squandering their resources.
The original story made statement to the paradox of friendship, where both youths were technically enemies, caught in amongst the lower socio economic times thwart with violence, in a racially charged environment, aligning with different gangs. (The Pakeha and Maori between the first generation Samoan youths). The Punk/Ska/Reggae music of the late-1970s to early-1980s was vibrant and a relevant under-swell in the Auckland music scene. By the time Queen City Rocker was filmed the script had been softened for a potential commercial market, as had the soundtrack, and when the film was in the can the reference between real gangs had been lost and the two stars were buddies in the same "group", the term "gang" had become unpalatable.

The studio space was also expanded and modified around this time to better serve the clientele. Aside from offering a professional space and the gear necessary to record, IGL also offered to handle the pressing and packaging of the recorded product. The artist could choose the IGL/Sonic imprint or could design their own label if desired. On the advice of Blacketer, IGL used Wakefield Manufacturing in Phoenix, AZ for pressing services. For album cover fabrication, IGL used the W.A. Fisher Advertising & Printing Co. in Virginia, MN. At some time in the early 1970s, the facility switched to the Queen City Album Co. (now QCA, Inc.) in Cincinnati, OH since they were a one-stop for all of IGL's needs in this area.
NYCTA attempted to get the remainder of its pending order for new buses transferred to GM, but was barred from doing so unless they could prove that the 870s were flawed and unsafe. The buses were eventually returned to Flxible, and were rebuilt and resold to Queen City Metro and New Jersey Transit. Grumman blamed the problems with the NYCTA 870s on NYCTA's poor maintenance practices at the time, despite the fact that transit operations in Chicago, Connecticut Transit, Houston, Los Angeles and Orange County, California had also reported problems with their 870s. Regardless, NYCTA ordered fifty Metros in 1995, but Flxible closed its doors before the order was produced, and NYCTA obtained the remaining new buses from Orion instead.
Among the many future major leaguers who played for the Cardinals, Johnny Podres made his professional debut at Centennial Field in 1950 pitching for Cardinals. In 2005, the Vermont Expos invited Podres back to Centennial Field to throw out the first pitch in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series championship. The collegiate Northern League was revived in the late 1970s through the 1980s and Centennial Field was the home of the Burlington Expos, Burlington A's and the Queen City Royals. The first edition of the Burlington Expos collegiate team was led by current Clemson head baseball coach, Jack Leggett, a native of South Burlington who also was the coach of the UVM baseball team at the time.

When Capital Cities announced its acquisition of ABC in March 1985, it was required to divest stations to stay within Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ownership limits of the era. The company announced the sale of WKBW-TV to J. Continental Airlines Auckland Brass were household names. They were the highlight of any pre entertainment All Black test at the time at Eden Park Auckland. When the Continental Airlines Brass Band was booked to play at the inaugural Rugby World Cup at Eden Park in 1987, McGough was invited to play solo, and concluded the international telecast with "Now Is The Hour" before an estimated international television audience of 300 million people. During his time with the World Champion Continental Airlines Auckland Brass, McGough served as their MC. He also branched out playing for well known Auckland soul bands the 7 Deadly Sins, Rick Bryant and the Jive Bombers and was called upon to assist the popular Auckland big band the Queen City Big Band.
In 1986 the newly formed Queen City Big Band where finalists along with McGough, who was a solo entertainer, for the title of New Zealand's "Rising Star of the Year" which was won that year by young singing sensation Annie Crummer. At age 16, McGough was recruited as the support act for the current New Zealand entertainer of the year at that time, known as the "Voice of New Zealand" Rhonda Bryers. Bryers soon moved to Hawaii to perform and McGough then starred in Old Time Music Halls with well known New Zealand entertainers like Derek Metzger, Chic Littlewood, Doug Aston, Louise Malloy, Keith Leggett and many others. McGough has been a member of ten New Zealand champion bands and two Australian champion bands.
FC Buffalo joined the NPSL as an expansion franchise in 2009 and took part in its first competitive season in 2010. While not a continuation of either franchise, FC Buffalo follows in the footsteps of two other recent Buffalo-based teams that competed in the NPSL: Queen City FC and Buffalo City FC. The team is owned by a group of five Buffalonians: Joshua Batten, Scott Frauenhofer, Donny Kutzbach, Nick Mendola and Ray Siminski. The club had a contest for fans to submit a nickname and after much debate and thousands of votes cast, "Blitzers" was chosen. The vote was aided by Buffalo native and CNN broadcaster Wolf Blitzer airing an interview with owners Nick Mendola and Scott Frauenhofer discussing the contest.
The inaugural season was dominated by teams from Auckland and Wellington, each of which had three teams. It was an Auckland side which would finish on top, with favourites and 1969 Northern League champions Blockhouse Bay triumphant. Located along the east bank of the Merrimack River, Downtown consists of the downtown core centered along Elm Street between Bridge and Granite streets; the Millyard consisting of the former Amoskeag mills; the "NOB" (North of Bridge); and South Downtown between Granite Street and Queen City Avenue. Within these larger areas are smaller districts, such as the Gaslight and Warehouse districts in Downtown South, the Cultural District centered on the Victory Park Historic District in the Downtown Core, and the River's Edge in South Downtown.
The game was moved to the Alabang Country Club, but Pachanga FC, which was informed about the change, refused to play as its players were not anymore available. The management filed a protest in the UFL against its first round foe in the UFL Cup Pachanga for its alleged no-show in the opening round at the Alabang Country Club. The league officials sent a letter to Mr. Ricky Dakay that the United Football League (UFL) has dismissed the complaint filed by Cebu Queen City United Football Club (QCUFC) asking that its scheduled opponent last Sunday be declared in default. As a consideration, the UFL said that it will try to make arrangements that the cancelled match be played in Cebu so that QCUFC need not spend for travel to Manila.
WKBW radio was sold to Price Communications, who subsequently changed the station's call letters to the current WWKB on January 3, mainly in order to keep the long-standing "KB" slogan (which was necessitated due to an FCC regulation in effect then that forbade TV and radio stations in the same city, but with different owners from sharing the same call letters; the former calls remained on now-former sister station WKBW-TV, which Capital Cities/ABC would sell to Queen City Broadcasting). In 1987, the station moved to a full service oldies format and on June 18, 1988, the station dropped live programming and switched to satellite-fed oldies. On March 6, 1989, WWKB flipped to business talk as part of the "Business Radio Network". It flipped to hot talk in 1993.
The Hornets played at the Charlotte Coliseum before moving to New Orleans following a bitter dispute between team ownership and the city over funding for a new arena. Two years after the Hornets decamped the Queen City was named as the home of the expansion Charlotte Bobcats who would play two seasons at the Coliseum before taking up residence at a new venue now known as Spectrum Center in Uptown. After the 2012–13 NBA season, New Orleans changed their franchise name to the New Orleans Pelicans. The franchise rights to the Hornets name and logo, plus the history of the original Charlotte Hornets, were given back to the city of Charlotte after the 2013–14 NBA season, at the same time the Charlotte Bobcats became the Charlotte Hornets.
In February 2019, Shattler established the Shattler Lacrosse Academy, a privately owned elite lacrosse academy sanctioned by the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association (SLA). In addition to organizing clinics and offering private training through his namesake academy, Shattler serves as Director of Player Development and Coaching for the Fighting Sioux lacrosse program of Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation, a role he has held since 2019. His is also involved in an effort to establish a nations cup between eight reserves in the Sanding Buffalo Dakota Nation and File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council (FHQ) Treaty 4 area. He also dedicates time to clinics and programs that aim to expand opportunities for girls in lacrosse, including working once a month with Queens Lacrosse of Queen City Minor Box Lacrosse league (QCMBL), the first all-girls lacrosse team in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The name Metrolina came into fashion when North Carolina's other two large metropolitan areas took on nicknames—the Triangle for Raleigh/Durham/Cary/Chapel Hill and the Triad for Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point. (The Triad now goes by the name Piedmont Triad to distinguish it from other tri-cities.) Charlotte's most common nickname is the Queen City, often abbreviated as Q.C., a name derived from the city's namesake, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The term "Charlotte USA" referred to the 16-county region, which includes 12 counties in North Carolina and 4 counties in South Carolina. The term was championed during a marketing campaign by the Charlotte Regional Partnership, a non- profit organization made up of both private- and public-sector members from throughout the Charlotte region.

The original Helena Bighorns were members of the former Tier II America West Hockey League from 2001 to 2003 after replacing the departed Helena Gold Rush that had operated last in the 1999–2000 season (formerly known as the Helena Ice Pirates from 1994 to 1999). In 2003, the AWHL merged with the larger Tier II North American Hockey League and the Bighorns played in the NAHL until 2006. In 2004, the Tier III Northern Pacific Hockey League (NorPac) expanded into Helena with the Queen City Cutthroats and were immediately successful, winning the Cascade Cup in their first year. In 2006, the NAHL Bighorns withdrew from the NAHL and the NorPac franchise would take the name of the formerly higher level team beginning with the 2006–07 season.
Cincinnati was first called "Queen of the West" in 1819 by Ed. B. Cooke who wrote "The City is, indeed, justly styled the fair Queen of the West: distinguished for order, enterprise, public spirit, and liberality, she stands the wonder of an admiring world." It was published in the Cincinnati Advertiser and the Inquisitor. The following year the city's residents were call it The Queen of the West or The Queen City. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote of the vineyards in Cincinnati of Nicholas Longworth in the last stanza of his poem Catawba Wine in 1854: ::And this Song of the Vine, ::This greeting of mine, ::The winds and the birds shall deliver, ::To the Queen of the West, ::In her garlands dressed, ::On the banks of the Beautiful River.

A tour with his own singing group, the Texas Medley Quartet, gave him his first opportunity to publish his own compositions, and it is known that he went to Syracuse, New York and Texas. The MTA would end up paying $56 million back to the Urban Mass Transit Administration for refusing to run the buses. The buses would sit for nearly two years at the Brooklyn Army Terminal until late 1985, when UMTA exchanged the payment for equity in MTA properties, allowing for 835 of the 851 buses to be sold. 620 of the buses were rebuilt and sold to New Jersey Transit, 175 of these buses were also rebuilt and sold to the Queen City Metro of Cincinnati, Ohio, with the remaining 40 buses rebuilt and sold to a transit agency in Puerto Rico. The 16 unsold buses (including now-preserved number 236) were held for evidence until the lawsuit was resolved, with the other 13 being sold to the Pioneer Valley Transportation Authority of Springfield, Massachusetts in early 1985, and the other two being scrapped.
Neighborhood resistance was strong and opponents, arguing that "the school administration was trying to avoid problems of integration by moving an alternative school to Cutter and transferring Cutter students elsewhere", blocked the plan. Councilwoman Bobbie Stern proposed the school move to Cincinnati Union Terminal, a National Historic Landmark which the Historic American Buildings Survey called "a unique and monumental manifestation of Art Deco architecture and interior decoration", noted for its mosaic murals depicting the history of Cincinnati and its rotunda, high and long, the largest semi-dome in the western hemisphere. The facility, vacant since it was abandoned by Amtrak in 1972, was to house the school, a maintenance facility for the Queen City Metro transit service, and a new rail terminal for Amtrak. The plan was approved in April 1975 and was due for completion for the 1976 school year.

The first championships were held in Cincinnati in 1997, and they were won by the host Cincinnati Dockers. The Queen City would host the first three Nationals, with the 1998 edition welcoming 10 teams. A second division was created for the 1999 Nationals, with eight teams in the upper Division 1 and six in the lower Division 2 competition. Sixteen teams competed in one division in 2000. Divisional play returned for the 2001 championships, and a third division was added for 2002. A fourth division, mainly for reserves clubs and for first year teams, was added in 2007. A second women's division was added for 2015, and a dedicated men's reserves division has been included since 2017. The 2015 edition saw the largest turnout in the history of the carnival; 45 teams representing 36 clubs across North America took part.
This novel won the Hall of Fame Darrel Award in conjunction with her short story "The Bride of Elvis" for their contribution to speculative fiction set in the Mid-South of America. Crescent City Rhapsody (HarperCollins) was published in 2000 as a prequel, explaining how the world of Queen City Jazz came about as the U.S. government conspired to sweep in nanotechnology that was not tested for possible side effects. It was a finalist for the Nebula Award, and received high praise from her peers including such genre authors as Joe Haldeman, Greg Bear, Gregory Benford, and Stephen R. Donaldson. Much of the novel takes place in New Orleans, and it is particularly haunting to read today as the book ends with the levees breaking and the city flooding, penned five years before Hurricane Katrina struck.
Deep Thinka Records began as an ambitious idea out of a University of Buffalo dorm room, has now grown into the most influential independent Hip Hop label in "The Queen City" of Buffalo. The label has dedicated itself to expressive artistic revolution, skillful and innovative music, social consciousness and aims to counterbalance the brash materialism, meat-headed misogyny, and glorified violence that have become synonymous with popular rap. The name of the label was borne out of a collaborative song entitled "How The Real Crew Bang", recorded in 1996 and 1997 for an early internet hip hop crew called Ill Crew Universal (ICU). Caferro felt the previous ICU mixtapes during that time featured primarily California or overseas based artists, and wanted to record a posse cut with ICU members located in the eastern USA for the crew’s third mixtape: The Death of Hip Hop.
Trains from Gadsden transported doctors, nurses, and the Queen City Guards, the Alabama militia company based in Gadsden. The commander of the latter, future Gadsden mayor and Col. R.A. Selfe's capacity for invention was not limited to the realm of machinery – he was also an energetic civic and urban reformer. From the time of Selfe's return in 1886 from two years' travel in the United States and Europe, he campaigned for improvements to the city of Sydney.
He favoured professionals in one sport playing as amateurs in another, and took charge of the AAU of C at a time when the CAHA, the Canadian Amateur Basketball Association, and the Canadian Amateur Lacrosse Association challenged the definition of amateur, and later broke away from the AAU of C which wanted to hold onto purist ideals of amateurism. Hamilton served two years as president of the Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association, and had multiple terms as president of the Southern Saskatchewan Hockey League. He operated the Queen City Gardens for 11 years, and helped organized the construction of ice hockey rinks in Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw. He was the secretary and treasurer of the Regina Roughriders from 1922 to 1938, sat on the rules committee for the Canadian Rugby Union, and served as president of both the Saskatchewan Amateur Rugby Union and the Western Interprovincial Football Union.
In this edition of UFL Cup, total of 27 clubs will compete for the cup after the pullout of Division 1 team Manila Nomads citing the five-foreigners-on-the-field rule issue. The groups with five teams will see their top three enter the knockout round-of-16 stage, while the groups with four clubs will have their top two assured of passage, plus the best third-placer. From the 27-team competition, it was later reduced to 23 teams after Division 1 team Pasargad together with three guest/invited clubs Manila Tala FC, Mendiola United and Manila Hurricanes FC decided to withdraw their participation in the Cup citing their inability to field a competitive team.
Once erected, Queen City Landing will draw in many high profile tenants such as Jon McChugs (evident truth) and Earl Holingbaugh (University at Buffalo Star) The tower has been targeted in a lawsuit by local environmentalists out of concern that it would pose a danger to bird migration, and also that the city board did not conduct a full environmental study on the site., WFBO Buffalo, (July 1, 2016) However, on multiple occasions, a state Supreme Court judge has upheld the city board's decision to build the tower and has also ruled that the city acted properly in its environmental study., Time Warner Cable News, (Sept 14, 2016) Bucheit completed the environmental cleanup of the site in late 2018 and construction should go ahead as planned, pending further appeals from the plaintiffs. On November 18, 2019, Bucheit announced a slight change in the tower's design.
Arch Rival was announced as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association in December 2007, initially as a member of the East Region. On September 20, 2008, the ARRG travel team won Fall Brawl, a regional tournament hosted by the Fort Wayne Derby Girls. ARRG, ranked 44 by Flat Track Stats, came into the double-elimination tournament a rankings underdog, and defeated the higher-ranked Ohio Roller Girls (32) and the Cincinnati Rollergirls (20) in early rounds, and came from behind to beat Grand Raggidy Roller Girls in an 86-71 victory. Arch Rival has made regular appearances at WFTDA Playoffs, including WFTDA Championships in both 2015 and 2016. At the 2017 Division 1 Playoff in Dallas, Arch Rival won their quarterfinal against Queen City Roller Girls 339-123 to qualify for Championships, but then lost their semifinal to Texas Rollergirls 209-199.
The Wildside brand currently runs monthly events at the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw, SK and periodically in Regina, SK. The Cultural Exchange became the new home venue for Wildside in the Queen City and regular events will be hosted there. On Saturday, September 20, 2014, HIW Wildside celebrated its one-year anniversary at the "NIGHT OF THE WILD" event at the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw, SK. The show featured the brand's first ever Ladder Match which pitted Wildside's originals Ethan Hawks and Ace Riviera against one another. On Thursday, January 21, 2015, the High Impact Wrestling parent office announced that the HIW Canada brand had absorbed the HIW Wildside brand in a move intended to further strengthen the all around product. Coming off the heels of the most successful year in company history, the absorption concept was on the table as a method to add more strength to the legs of High Impact Wrestling's continued expansion throughout Central Canada.
Champlain was founded in 1878 as Burlington Business School, opened by G.W. Thompson, to prepare young men for “the business cares and responsibilities of life.” In 1884, when E. George Evans acquired the school, it became coeducational and changed its name to Queen City Business College. In 1905 it moved to Bank Street, and in 1910 to moved again to Main Street. A. Gordon Tittemore acquired the college in 1920, and renamed it Burlington Business College. In 1958, the College took on its current name and moved to its present location in the Hill Section of Burlington. That year, it offered associate degree programs and enrolled about 60 students. Champlain College opened its first dormitories, Jensen and Sanders Halls, in 1965. It started new programs in social services in the 1970s, opened the Willett Foster Hall, home to the Engineering Technology Division, in 1982, and added the Hauke Family Campus Center in 1989.
Sophomore forward Matt White joined the varsity team this year after a year on the freshman team. He scored in double figures eight times, including a season-high 22 in an upset of Fordham in the opening game of the Queen City Tournament in Buffalo, New York. Matt White Junior forward Warren Buehler had his second consecutive strong offensive season, scoring in double figures in 21 of the season's 25 games. For the second year in a row, the team lost one of its top scorers to an academic suspension at midseason, but Buehler compensated with ever-greater offensive performances, scoring in double figures in 15 of the final 16 games, including a season-high 31 points against Seton Hall.
Baldwin then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to serve as worship pastor of Queen City Church. On September 17, 2013, Josh Baldwin launched a Kickstarter funding campaign to raise $12,000 for a new worship album's mixing, mastering, printing, and artwork to be completed. The campaign was a success, with 202 backers pledging $12,635, with a twenty two day period that ended on October 10, 2013. Baldwin released Rivers, his sophomore album on January 28, 2014, in partnership with Watershed Music. Rivers peaked at No. 44 on the Heatseekers Albums chart issued by Billboard, his first entry on a Billboard's chart. In 2014, Baldwin went on to sign a record deal with Bethel Music during a week-long visit with his wife to Redding, California after discussions with Brian Johnson, whom he knew since meeting in 2007. On March 11, 2016, Bethel Music then released its eighth live album dubbed Have It All, with Baldwin performing a live cover of his song, "Praises (Be Lifted Up)".
He was instrumental in overseeing the two-year-long construction of the New York Central Station, which was "a 17 floor combination office and terminal building" on the East Side. He passed legislation to build the new City Hall building, still a landmark among Buffalo's downtown skyline. Many major changes came to the Queen City during his time as a political leader, and John Montana made sure that his hidden partnerships never came to light while still placing people in positions to reap the benefits of the construction and transportation boom. Montana's taxis, for instance, were given a sweetheart contract to be the sole cab operators at the new Central Terminal station; 200 trains a day were said to go through Buffalo, and Montana's taxis were the only ones allowed to pick up passengers that wanted a ride – Buffalo police even ticketed and towed other cab companies that sought fares from the train station.

On September 21, 2017, a joint statement from Kansas City Revolutionary Collective (later known as Red Guards Kansas City), Red Guards Los Angeles, Tampa Maoist Collective, Queen City Maoist Collective (later known as Red Guards Charlotte), Red Guards Austin, and Revolutionary Association of Houston was released that heavily criticized and publicly severed all ties with the Saint Louis Revolutionary Collective due to alleged "horrendous security culture" and "weaponized identity politics" within Saint Louis Revolutionary Collective's leadership. On March 8, 2018, the Kansas City Revolutionary Collective reconstituted itself as Red Guards Kansas City due to "a higher level of unity that has been achieved after almost two years of patient struggle with other Red Guards collectives, specifically Red Guards Austin" in regards primarily to questions of "the universality of protracted people’s war, party militarization, and concentric construction of the three instruments for revolution". On December 17, 2018, Red Guards Austin dissolved; on May 18, 2019, Red Guards Los Angeles was dissolved. Remaining Red Guards and Serve The People organizations remain unaffected and are still operating.
The preserved Atlantic Greyhound Bus Terminal, Savannah, Georgia, (January 2017 photo) In 1936 The Greyhound Corporation accumulated a controlling (majority) interest in the Atlantic GL, and in 1957 the parent firm finished buying the remaining minority interest in the AGL and then merged the AGL into itself as a division of itself. By 1960 the Atlantic GL reached as far to the north as Columbus and Pittsburgh, as far to the east as the Atlantic Ocean, as far to the south as Jacksonville, and as far to the west as Cincinnati, Knoxville, and Atlanta. The AGL also ran extensive local commuter service based in its hometown of Charleston and in Portsmouth (in Ohio), Winston-Salem (in North Carolina), Sumter (in South Carolina), and (in conjunction with the Queen City Trailways) in Charlotte (in North Carolina). The Atlantic GL then met the new Eastern GL to the north, the new Central GL to the northwest, and the Southeastern GL to the west and the south; AGL also met the Richmond GL in Washington, DC, and in Norfolk and Richmond.
US 3 leaves the Everett Turnpike at exit 7E, crosses NH 101A and turns northeast for approximately along a segment known as the Henri Burque Highway, before turning north onto Concord Street, which soon becomes known as the Daniel Webster Highway. (Some locals erroneously refer to the Everett Turnpike from exit 7 through the I-293 interchange as Route 3 and refer to the actual US 3 only as the Daniel Webster Highway or "Old Route 3".) US 3 continues north through the town of Merrimack and into Bedford, where it becomes South River Road. The highway parallels I-293 until it turns east in Manchester and then crosses the Merrimack River on Queen City Avenue, just after its intersection with I-293 / NH 3A and NH 114A. US 3 and NH 3A are signed in a wrong-way concurrency for approximately before US 3 turns north onto Elm Street towards downtown Manchester. Ellsworth Call, a scholar and authority on college affairs, Dr. John M. Crawford, counsel to St. Petersburg, and F. F. Oldham, of Queen City, Ohio. Of the number of women in the Association, perhaps the most successful and best known were Mary Hartwell Catherwood, of Hoopeston, Illinois, Alice Williams Brotherton, the Cincinnati poetess, Idael Makeever of Nebraska, and Bessie Woolford, called the “Poet of the Ohio River".
