Birmingham was a large, powerful brown horse standing between 16.2 and 17.0 hands, bred by Mr Lacy. As a foal, he was sold for 45 guineas to William Beardsworth, who built up a reputation in the early 1830s for winning important races with cheaply bought horses. The horse was named after Beardsworth's home town of Birmingham. Birmingham was sired by Filho da Puta, a horse who won the St Leger in 1815 before becoming a successful breeding stallion.
Lindalino's rebellion against Laputa is an allegory of Ireland's revolt against Great Britain, and Great Britain's (meaning the Whig government's) violent foreign and internal politics (see Jonathan Swift for his political career). The Laputans' absurd inventions mock the Royal Society. As "la puta" means "the whore" in Spanish, some Spanish editions of "Gulliver's Travels" use "Lapuntu", "Laput", "Lapuda" and "Lupata" as bowdlerisations. It is likely, given Swift's education and satirical style, that he was aware of the Spanish meaning.
In 1989, more mature and somewhat stressed out by the constant touring, they recorded their third LP, Crescendo. The album sold well, but the media was beginning to lose interest in Ultraje after its four years of success. Even so, Ultraje still provoked controversy, teasing the announcement of the end of official censorship with the song Filha da Puta. The song was censored extra-officially on many radio stations and TV programs, which hindered promotion of the album.

Hillary wrote: "Wilf Noyce and Pasang Puta were also in Camp and they looked after us with patience and kindness. I felt a moment of sympathy for Wilf – he was the only one left with the strength to try for the summit; but now he wouldn't get the chance. Rodrigo Duterte saying putang ina during a 5 September 2016 speech at Francisco Bangoy International Airport. Owing partly to its use in speeches by Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, the phrase putang ina mo (sometimes shortened to tang ina or minced as PI) has received considerable international attention and controversy as to its meaning. Puta is a borrowed word from Spanish, in which language it means "whore". Ina is Tagalog for mother, while mo is the indirect second person singular pronoun.
Diego was apolitical and areligious. More than religion, Diego believed his life would be transformed in New York. He had heard about certain boys, the puta- timadores who hustled foreigners for money in exchange for their company, and there were rumors of a few who managed to parlay that into a ticket out of the country and were living in luxury in foreign capitals. Diego decided to go down to the Teatro Colón, where the hustler boys hung out looking for their marks, and try his luck.
However the brewery tap "The Rose of England" is still standing, right next to York House. It was built in 1899 by the celebrated Nottingham architect Watson Fothergill. It replaced an earlier brewery tap, Filo da Puta, named after the 1815 St. Ledger winner which when translated means "son of a whore"! The 1960s saw a marked change in the beer market with the rise of large commercial breweries and the increasing popularity of mass-produced lagers; Nottingham Brewery struggled to maintain market share during this time.
Afghan historian Muhammad Siddiq Farhand wrote a three volume book "Afghanistan in the past five centuries" a very distinguished piece in afghan history, he also failed to mention such a character as Malalai. The first time Malalai's name was mentioned was 40–60 years after the battle of Maiwand. Many believe it was Abdul Hai Habibi who coined the story during the period of Pashto Tolana to support the national narrative and Pashtun nationalism. Habibi has previously been accused of forgery, in the case of Puta Khazana.

The inland route is pre-European – it was traditionally known as te taua tapu (the sacred war-party). The cycleway is known as Te Ara Harakeke (the flax road). The coastal route goes past Marble Arch (Te Ana Puta) to Wairaka Rock on an uninhabited part of Pukerua Bay, the only, mainland home of Whitaker's Skink (Cyclodina whitakeri), an icon of the bay. According to legend, the rock is the petrified wife of culture hero Haunui-a-Nanaia, who pursued her from Mahia Peninsula, naming places on the way including Manawatu, Ohau and Turakina.

On 15 October 2009, Calle 13 won the Premios MTV Latinoamérica for "Best Urban Artist". Pérez hosted the ceremony, and used this exposure to insult Puerto Rican governor Luis Fortuño and comment about a civilian general strike that was organized earlier that day, held to protest the firing of more than 25,000 public employees by Fortuño's administration. Pérez generated much controversy after referring to Fortuño as an "hijo de la gran puta" The phrase is commonly translated as "son of a bitch"; in Spanish is an insult to the person itself, equating to "bad person".
Influenced by the Spanish literature, Iniesta's lyrics are often described as rude street poetry, with frequent allusions to drugs, sex and self-destruction. Well-known songs by Extremoduro include "So payaso", "Golfa", "Salir", "Extremaydura", "Puta" and "Jesucristo García". The highest moment in the band's career was probably reached with the release of their album Agila, which was awarded a prize for best video in the first edition of the Spanish Music Awards in 1997. It is considered one of the best Spanish bands ever by several music magazines.
Toshack himself was openly flirting with Newcastle United. With the results not covering him anymore, his bad relationship with the squad (Flávio Conceição also had a row with him) and his almost catastrophic cooperation with Lendoiro, Toshack resigned. His relationship with the Riazor crowd was terrible. Two weeks after he had announced his departure, he had infuriated them during the home match against Bilbao. When Martins scored Depor's second goal (2-1) just before the break, he turned towards the crowd and shouted: “Now you will be applauding, hijos de puta…”.
Throughout the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, their company grew vastly and published several other magazines with a spin-off spirit, such as Puta Mili and Mister K. It also expanded into film and television production. Following the deaths of several important contributors in the 90s (Gin, Ivá, Nieto and cartoonist Jaume Perich), a younger generation of artists joined in and became iconic collaborators. Among them are Manel Fontdevila and Albert Monteys, both of which served as directors. Other contributors of international fame are Jordi Bernet, Miguelanxo Prado, Pasqual Ferry and Joan Cornellà.

Woodman began Chapter 13 of Superfuckers for LFP. Flynt spent little on advertising, relying instead solely on the Hustler name and word of mouth to sell products. This bothered Woodman, who made a few big-budget movies, such as Brazilian Snake (2001), Brazilian Snake 2 (2002) and Manipulation (2004), but refused to sign a new contract for LFP in 2005. In 2004, after playing himself in the Spanish film Yo Puta, alongside Denise Richards and Daryl Hannah, he did several photo- shoots for fashion magazines, such as Vogue and Blast.
Market research and R&D; are as deep and broad in global marketing as they are in international marketing. Sometimes, though, global marketing can produce big flops when market research has not properly conducted or local customs thoroughly studied. Think, for example, of Chevy Nova’s and Mazda LaPuta’s unfortunate stints in the Spanish market (in Spanish, ‘no va’ and ‘la puta’ mean ‘it doesn’t go’ and ‘the whore,’ respectively.). Other product flops include the Ben-Gay aspirin, McDonald’s Arch Deluxe, and the Cocaine Energy Drink produced by Redux Beverages.

Organizer Ana Almeida explained: "We want to establish a precedent of this message of no violence against women, because women's bodies must be respected; we can't allow women to be stigmatized for their clothes. Nothing can justify violence. We make a constant political work to redefine the word "puta" and what it means to both women and men." At the march, there was an increased number of male participants, as well as people with naked torsos, a fake Catholic priest in pink robe, many signs with rhymes and slogans, live musicians and stiltwalkers.
However, they recorded their first studio album "Tarde, Mal y Nunca" with little production and scarce means, but with their most famous songs (as time would prove) like "El Hijo de Puta", "Animal", and "Borratxo". After this work, Tripi permanently left Spain. The accidental death of Snupi in an automobile accident in 1999 brought Tripi back to Spain temporarily, bringing some published old live recordings from the band: the work "los conciertos de JB". This work was edited and published in the new record label Tripirecords, and shows "never seen before" live recordings of the band from 1990 to 1992.

She then climbs on top of him while telling him that you belong to everyone who can pay and that it changes you as you might even like it. Alyah then kisses Dante and they start to make love. When Dante protests saying that he needs her to help him she says that she does not like men and could kill him no problem. She further explains that in Puerto Angel she "was a puta" under the employ of Kufgard and that she was stoned most of the time, which is what led her to dislike men.
The principle of a simple binary opposition between the two members of a minimal pair may be extended to cover a minimal set in which a number of words differ from one another in terms of one phone in a particular position in the word. For example, the vowels , , , , of Swahili are shown to be distinct by the following set of words: pata 'hinge', peta 'bend', pita 'pass', pota 'twist', puta 'thrash'. However, establishing such sets is not always straightforward and may require very complex study of multiple oppositions as expounded by, for example, Nikolai Trubetzkoy.

An unidentified writer using the pseudonym Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda in 1614 published a Part II of Don Quijote. In it he says of Dulcinea that she is "a great ______"; the missing word, which he will not utter, is "whore" ("puta"). Although support for Avellaneda's view of Dulcinea is found in Part I of Don Quixote, he has little interest in the glorious, imaginary Dulcinea. Scholars commonly say that because of this and many similar misreadings by Avellaneda, which Cervantes found offensive, he was motivated to complete his own unfinished Part II, which was published the following year.
As a five-year-old, Doctor Syntax won twice at Catterick in April but finished third to Mr Beal's filly Flot at Middleham. He won a second Corporation Gold Cup at Lancaster in June and then defeated Filho da Puta in the Preston Gold Cup. In 1817 Doctor Syntax was beaten by Silenus in the Lancaster Gold Cup, but reversed the form to beat Silenus and the 1816 St Leger winner The Duchess in the Preston Gold Cup. At Richmond in October, Doctor Syntax finished second to The Duchess in the Gold Cup and walked over in a Sweepstakes the following day.
It was created by Aacharya Somadeva approximately in 12th–13th century. It contains 13 chapters which give elaborate description of mercury and its processing for medicinal use; definition and description of equipments and Puta (temperature requirements and regulation during processing). La Virgen de Guadalupe and La Malinche have become symbolic means of suppressing Chicana women's sexuality through the patriarchal dichotomy of puta/virgin, the positive role model and the negative one, historically and continuously held up before Mexican women as icons and mirrors in which to examine their own self-image and define their self-esteem. Gloria Anzaldúa's canonical text addresses the subversive power of reclaiming indigenous spirituality to unlearn colonial and patriarchal constructions and restrictions on women, their sexuality, and understandings of motherhood. Anzaldúa writes, "I will no longer be made to feel ashamed of existing. I will have my voice: Indian, Spanish, white".
The first idea of combining hard rock and heavy metal with turbo-folk came up in the early 1990s when Saša Friš, a guitar player from Novi Sad wrote a song called "Veče na plaži" ("An Evening at the Beach") later rerecorded as "Ostavljen sam ja" ("I've Been Left"). Friš was joined by Dragan "Sneki" Jovanić who did the arrangements and production. Both songs were recorded in 1993. Following the arrival of vocalists Željko Jojkić, Friš wrote another song called "Srca tvoga plam" ("A Sparkle of Your Heart") later rerecorded as "Došli smo do kraja puta" ("We Came to the End of the Road").
Adios... Puta Madres (incorrect Spanish for "Goodbye Bitch Mothers", or maybe in Mexican Spanish "Goodbye Motherfuckers") is a live album by Ministry, released on March 31, 2009 on 13th Planet Records. The album was recorded at various locations on Ministry's farewell tour, dubbed the "C U LaTouR". Allmusic database and Windows Media database incorrectly list the title of the record as "Adios...Putas Madres" (which would be grammatically correct in Spanish; whereas in Mexican Spanish, the correct form would instead be "Adiós... putamadres"). In 2009, "Señor Peligro" was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Metal Performance for the 52nd Grammy Awards.
According to a local legend, the Lamaria church was the scene of the murder of the nobleman Puta Dachkelani, a Dadeshkeliani, who sought to impose his rule on the free people of Ushguli. The legend has it that the entire village helped pull a cord attached to the trigger of a musket, thus dividing equally the responsibility for killing the man. Puta's garments are said to have been preserved at the church for a long time. Lamaria housed a collection of dozens of church items—manuscripts, icons, crosses, and various utensils—which were catalogued by the scholar Ekvtime Taqaishvili during his expedition to Svaneti in 1910.
The crystal structures of several moonlighting proteins, such as I-AniI homing endonuclease / maturase and the PutA proline dehydrogenase / transcription factor, have been determined. An analysis of these crystal structures has demonstrated that moonlighting proteins can either perform both functions at the same time, or through conformational changes, alternate between two states, each of which is able to perform a separate function. For example, the protein DegP plays a role in proteolysis with higher temperatures and is involved in refolding functions at lower temperatures. Lastly, these crystal structures have shown that the second function may negatively affect the first function in some moonlighting proteins.

As Yugoslav wars broke out in 1991, the band intended to release Labudova pesma as their last album (and named the album according to their decision), but eventually changed their decision to disband. Album was recorded in Vienna at the end the first year of the wars. On the album recording, the band cooperated with Oliver Mandić. The intention was for Mandić to become an official band member (as the keyboardist), however, due to the fight between Mandić and the band's frontman Bora Đorđević, the cooperation ended and the songs "Vukovar", "Prodavnica snova", "Zbogom pameti", "Šta još možeš da mi daš" and "Na pola puta do sreće" written by and recorded with Mandić were not released on the album.

However, given Vitín's strict celibacy requirements as a pre-requisite for training, King Cabra eloped with Kenya, the Haitian fire-eater at the Gurabo, Puerto Rico Patron Saint feasts. This caused Vitín considerable strife, since he considered King to be his "hermano putativo" ("putative brother", a phrase Logroño uses as a comic device, since "puta" is the vulgar Spanish term for a prostitute) Guzmán's affable character, high pitched voice and short height helped give the character a likable quality, and therefore King Cabra became an audience favorite, getting standing ovations from the program's audience whenever he appeared. When Guzmán left the program to pursue his solo career, the character ended with his departure.
The lyrics are very mature, since the beginning, showing political attitude and critique of customs. They can also be quite offensive and explicit. When performing live the group used to point them with bad words for their shock value in a time when censorship still existed. Their lyrics touched sensitive points and made a great deal of noise in the eighties, especially "Eu Não Matei Joana D'Arc" (I Didn't Kill Joan of Arc), for its implicit allusions to free love and lesbianism, "Sílvia", the first time ever the word "puta" (whore) was heard on a record, "Passamos por Isso" (We've Been Through That), which protests against the recording industry, and "Pronto Pro Suicídio" (Ready For Suicide), a nihilist protest.

Casualties in the Battle of New Ross are estimated at 2,800 to 3,000 Rebels and 200 Garrison dead. An Augustinian Friar at New Ross on 5 June 1798, the day of the Battle, entered in the Augustinian Church Mass Book the following in Latin: "Hodie hostis rebellis repulsa est ab obsidione oppidi cum magna caede, puta 3000", ("today, the rebel enemy was driven back from the assault of the town with great slaughter [carnage], estimated at 3000".)Butler, Near Restful Waters, p. 99. In politics the phrase "Yes, he is a son of a bitch, but he is our son of a bitch" has been attributed, probably apocryphally, to various U.S. presidents from Franklin Roosevelt to Richard Nixon. Immediately after the detonation of the first atomic bomb in Alamogordo, New Mexico, in July 1945 (the device codenamed Gadget), the Manhattan Project scientist who served as the director of the test, Kenneth Tompkins Bainbridge, exclaimed to Robert Oppenheimer "Now we're all sons-of-bitches." The 19th-century British racehorse Filho da Puta took its name from 'Son of a bitch' in Portuguese. The Curtiss SB2C, a World War 2 U.S. Navy dive bomber, was called "Son-of-a-Bitch 2nd Class" by some of its pilots and crewmen.

In certain tourist cities of Venezuela, and specially in the city of Mérida, females following a similar pattern of conduct are known as "Puta-Tour", a pejorative term that relates the person with travel based prostitution. Nevertheless, there are cases where the sexual intercourse is never reached, and long term friendships are the result. They usually target White American and European tourists, primarily in the interest of learning and/or practicing a foreign language (other than Spanish), serving also as a nice host and tourist guide, but expecting to get invited to travel to the tourist's native country. These relationships can range from friendship to marriage, and are based on the cultural interchanging and traveling, supported by the foreign tourist.

In a team of hotheads and big egos, Nairobi is level-headed, focused only on accomplishing the job and maintaining peace within the group, and staying alive. She is well liked by the team and even the hostages; Mr. Torres, a hostage assigned to help her print the money in parts 1 and 2, praises her as the best boss he has ever had. With her maternal instincts, she was able to sympathize with some of the hostages, such as motivating Alison Parker to stand up to her bullies and say the famous line "Soy la puta ama" ("I am the fucking boss"). Throughout the show, Nairobi has shown disgust over the excessive patriarchy on the team, questioning the leadership of Berlin and Palermo's offensive actions.

Following the first Bible translation, the development of Danish as a written language, as a language of religion, administration, and public discourse accelerated. In the second half of the 17th century, grammarians elaborated grammars of Danish, first among them Rasmus Bartholin's 1657 Latin grammar De studio lingvæ danicæ; then Laurids Olufsen Kock's 1660 grammar of the Zealand dialect Introductio ad lingvam Danicam puta selandicam; and in 1685 the first Danish grammar written in Danish, Den Danske Sprog-Kunst ("The Art of the Danish Language") by Peder Syv. Major authors from this period are Thomas Kingo, poet and psalmist, and Leonora Christina Ulfeldt, whose novel Jammersminde (Remembered Woes) is considered a literary masterpiece by scholars. Orthography was still not standardized and the principles for doing so were vigorously discussed among Danish philologists.
