Carlos accidentally falls overboard while clowning around on the boat, and swims into the repellent cloud for protection. He panics and stabs a shark that ventures too close, drawing a pack that kills him despite the repellent.

Crashdown orders an attack on the battery despite the team's inexperience in combat and inadequate equipment. Tyrol privately tries to persuade him to instead attack the guidance system, which is less heavily guarded, but Crashdown waves the bloody shirt of Tarn and Socinus and pulls rank. Tyrol is unconvinced but nonetheless silences Baltar's protests during Crashdown's briefing. Six warns Baltar that one of the survivors will betray the others and that his life is in danger, because what happens on Kobol is not God's will.

At the beginning of Series 3, Morse's sabbatical means that Jakes is working more closely with DI Thursday. When Morse returns, it is apparent that Jakes considers Morse an equal and a friend, although he still good-naturedly pulls rank on Morse during their rescue of a kidnap victim in episode two. Jakes leaves at the end of the episode, as he is emigrating to the USA with his girlfriend, a doctoral student from Wyoming, who is expecting a baby. Morse gives him a parting gift of premium bonds "for the child".

Tony is known to be fluent in Spanish, as is established from his earliest appearance in the JAG- NCIS crossover episodes. As Gibbs's senior field agent, he often pulls rank by ordering the more junior agents around and playing pranks on them.

The younger sister of Detective Antonio Dawson, a main character in spin-offs Chicago P.D. and Chicago Justice, Gabby is well known for being able to hold her own in a largely male-dominated occupation and an all-male firehouse; she and Shay were the only women at 51 until Brett was assigned to Ambulance 61 in season 3. Dawson shared a close friendship with long-time colleague Matthew Casey even though they were each in relationships with different people. Later, she and the new Candidate Peter Mills bond over their mutual love for cooking and begin a relationship in secret. When their relationship is brought to light, Casey seems to be jealous and pulls rank to keep them apart at work.
