He was the coach for the Bantam North Delta Hawks in 1988 who won silver at the BC Provincials and gold at the BC Summer Games. Woolley chaired the British Columbia Lacrosse Association (BCLA) Coaches Association in 1988 and 1990. He helped produce manuals and teaching aids for the development of coaches. In 1988, Woolley created the well-known British Columbia publication, Coaches Corner.
In the same year, she skated at the 2007 Canada Winter Games with Team Ontario and won the gold medal. One of her teammates on Team Ontario (and with Mississauga) was Laura McIntosh. In 2008, she won a bronze medal with the Mississauga Chiefs at OWHA provincials. In the same year, she won a bronze medal with Mississauga at the PWHL championship in 2008.
Born in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, Adam won a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games in 1999. Adam was part of Gushue's 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships winning team, when he played lead. Adam returned the following year at the 2002 Canadian Juniors, but played third for Ryan Ledrew, and finished 4-8. He was still on Gushue's team as well, and played second at the provincials that year.
MacCuish played second for Team Manitoba at the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, on a team skipped by Shannon Birchard. The team finished first after the round robin, but lost in the final to Team Alberta, skipped by Jocelyn Peterman. The next season, MacCuish and third Selena Kaatz left the Birchard rink to form their own team at the Manitoba Junior provincials but lost to their former skip in the final.
Malta, 2010 At the General Chapter, Elias, through his supporters, attempted to take charge of the Order; but he was resisted by Anthony of Padua and a number of Minister Provincials. Those who had disturbed the proceedings were subsequently scattered among the various provinces, and Elias retired to a hermitage for a time. Parenti and Elias differed on their interpretation of the Rule. Parenti held a strictly literal view.
The team would return to the provincials in 2011, where for a second year in a row, they would finish with a 5-2 record. This was enough to secure second place. They would meet Heather Smith-Dacey in the semi-final, but would lose 3-8. In 2012, Baxter would change positions and move to lead, when Arsenault brought former teammate Kim Kelly into the lineup at second.
The Provincials' roles included serving as a police force and a coast guard. At times, the men also repaired roads, fences and fortifications. According to the treaty, the battalions' officers were to be Maltese nobles appointed by the Grand Master. However, Ball himself chose two Maltese pro-British nobles, the Marquis Paolo Parisi and Conte Luigi Maria Gatto, as the commanding officers of the 1st and 2nd Battalions respectively.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the 2015 inter-provincials did not take place. The 2015 GAA Interprovincial Championships (known also as the Railway Cup) was a senior GAA competition in which all 4 provinces of Ireland compete in Gaelic football and hurling tournaments. The provincial squads are made up of players from county panels in each respective province. Connacht were the reigning football champions whilst Leinster were the reigning hurling champions.
This granted them a spot in Tier 1 BCJUC Provincials where they upset another powerhouse school Prince of Wales on universe point in pool play. McRoberts ended up finished first in their pool. They made it to the finals after defeating the back-to-back champions Sutherland in the semi-finals on universe point. They were able to complete this Cinderella story by winning against Stratford Hall in the finals.
Before 212 AD, for the most part only inhabitants of Italy held full Roman citizenship. Colonies of Romans established in other provinces, Romans (or their descendants) living in provinces, the inhabitants of various cities throughout the Empire, and small numbers of local nobles (such as kings of client countries) also held full citizenship. Provincials, on the other hand, were usually non-citizens, although some held the Latin Right.
Despite being considered a "super squad", the team didn't make it out of the province and split up after the season. Gervais would form his own team of Ron Anton, Ray Werner and Wally Ursuliak. This team would win the Alberta provincials, and also won that year's Macdonald Brier. The team (with Vic Raymer in place of Anton) closed the season by winning the 1961 Scotch Cup, becoming World Champions.
This year the River East Kodiaks boys' hockey team is made up of 15- to 18-year-old boys. The team's record is 3-7 and the team is ranked 9th in the ‘A’ division. The team will be participating in several tournaments in Winnipeg and late November the team will be visiting Ontario Canada. Also this year we are pleased to be hosting the High School Provincials in our territory.
Two OPP inspectors were assigned to work with Emergency Measures Ontario as liaison officers for the volunteers. This close connection continues today with the OPP auxiliary playing a critical role in emergency and disaster planning and occurrences. By 1961 there were 466 auxiliary volunteers who accompanied regular provincials on traffic and law enforcement patrols and during the year logged more than twenty-six thousand hours of volunteer duty.
The expedition, which included British regular troops, Provincials from North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania, along with Catawba, Tuscarora, and a few Creek and Chickasaw warriors, was aimed at forcing the French from their major fortification in western PA, Ft Duquesne. With a record of twenty-nine wins, eight losses, three ties, and two overtime losses, Uxbridge found themselves on top of the pile again. The Bruins went on to win their second league championship, but again failed to make a dent in provincials. A season later, the Bruins had an even better record but failed to win their league. The 2001-02 season proved to be a special one.
At the 2018 Manitoba provincials, the team failed to make the playoffs. Gordon left longtime teammates Lott and Doering after the season and joined the Calvert rink with Kyle Kurz at third and Ian McMillan at second. The new Calvert rink played in three Grand Slam's but failed to qualify in any of them. They lost in the championship round of the 2019 Viterra Championship and were eliminated.
Tryon retained his nominal title as governor, but with little power. In early 1777, Tryon was given the rank of major-general of the provincials. In April, he was ordered to invade Connecticut and march on the city of Danbury to destroy an arsenal there. Tryon established his headquarters at the house of a Loyalist named Joseph Dibble, at the south end of the village, and near the public stores.

The British army that operated against Fort Carillon in 1758 contained, however, a majority of provincial troops, although most of the fighting was done by the regulars. On the other hand, the capture of Fort Frontenac in 1758, was done by a force dominantly provincial. At provincials, the team lost in the semifinal to Sarah Mallais. After Ward moved to skip her own team in Newfoundland and Labrador, the team brought on veteran Andrea Crawford to skip the team. At the 2019 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Team Crawford posted a perfect 5–0 record en route to capturing the title. At the Hearts, the team went 3–4, missing the playoffs.
After going 3–0 in the round robin portion, they came up short in the final against Northwest Territories Kerry Galusha. Adams left the team after the season to join the Robichaud rink and Jillian Babin joined the team at second. At provincials, the team lost in the semifinal to Sarah Mallais. Ward left the Armstrong team after the season and made a new team curling out of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Southern Ontario zones run from November 30-December 2, December 7-11 and December 14-18, 2012. Two teams from each zone qualify to 2 regional tournaments, and two teams from each of the two tournaments qualify to provincials. Two additional teams qualify out of a second chance qualifier. The Northern Ontario provincial championship will occur December 13-16, 2012 at the Little Falls Curling Club in Atikokan, Ontario.
In 2010, after two seasons with Gushue, winning a Grand Slam of Curling and finishing a disappointing 4th at the 2009 & 2010 Briers, Korab decided to take some time off from curling. He helped to coach Heather Strong's rink from St. John's from the 2010–13 season. The team won the NL provincials and participated in the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer. Korab's wife (Stephanie) was also on that team.
The school has teams for Golf, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Curling, Track and Field, Wrestling, Badminton, and Cross Country Running Teams. Each team is successful in their respective category, and has won at least one provincial title at some point in time. The school's senior boys' basketball team has won the 4A provincial title two years in a row (2008–2009, 2009–2010). The senior boys volleyball team placed second at the Volleyball Provincials in 2011.
Having served his term as consul, Hybrida was granted Macedonia as had been promised. Here, Hybrida abused his rule to rob the provincials and led invasions of the neighbouring barbaric lands of Moesia. His incursions brought two separate attacks from the natives who successfully forced Hybrida out of their lands without any loot. In 60 BC, Hybrida was quietly removed from the position of governor of Macedonia and replaced by Gaius Octavius.
Nurse won a silver medal with Stoney Creek at the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) provincials. She also won a bronze medal in high school at the 2010 OFSSAA championships, and a silver at OFSSAA 2011. In 2010, she played with Team Heaney and reached the quarter- finals of the 2010 Ontario Winter Games. During the 2010–11 Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) season, she led the Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres in scoring.
Qualifying for the BCSSA Provincial Championships Speed Swimming: Swimmers must place in the top 3 in finals for individual events. For relays, teams in the top 2 during regionals will qualify. The only exception is when a swimmer or a relay team manages to swim a provincial qualifying time (PQT). Any swimmers or relay team that manages to meet or better a PQT in a final event will automatically qualify for Provincials.
He won plaudits for defeating royalists and founding schools, but civil strife continued. O'Higgins alienated liberals and provincials with his authoritarianism, conservatives and the church with his anticlericalism, and landowners with his proposed reforms of the land tenure system. His attempt to devise a constitution in 1818 that would legitimize his government failed, as did his effort to generate stable funding for the new administration. O'Higgins's dictatorial behavior aroused resistance in the provinces.
Dorset Collegiate (officially called Dorset Collegiate High School) is a school in Pilley's Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The principal is Mark Warren and the vice principal is Chris Roberts. The school is in Division B of the 3A Provincial Slo-Pitch Tournament and Division A of the 3A Boys Volleyball Provincials. The school also participates in the annual Under 14/16/19 Atlantic Team Qualifier badminton tournament and the 3A Ball Hockey Tournament.
Forrest played second for the Jeff Stoughton rink for the 2014–15 season, which would be Stoughton's last. The team played in four Grand Slam of Curling events but only qualified in one, the 2014 Masters. At the 2015 Manitoba provincials, the team qualified for the championship round as the third seed. They defeated Braden Calvert 6–4 in the 3 vs. 4 game before being eliminated in the semifinal by the Mike McEwen rink.
The generals not only supervised militia forces and security commissions, but collected taxes and insured support for the government in the English and Welsh provinces. They were resented by provincials. Many members of Parliament feared the generals threatened their reform efforts and authority. Their position was further harmed by a tax proposal by Major General John Desborough to provide financial backing for their work, which Parliament voted down for fear of a permanent military state.
The regiment was first raised by William Shirley in New England as William Shirley's Regiment of Foot and ranked as the 65th Regiment of Foot in September 1745. It was disbanded in May 1749. The regiment was re-raised in New England as the 50th Regiment of Foot (American Provincials) in December 1754 for service in the French and Indian War but, following the disastrous loss of Oswego, it was disbanded in December 1756.

MacRae, playing lead for Shannon Tatlock, made the playoffs at provincials for the first time at the 2015 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts where they lost in the semifinal to Melissa Adams.

The hockey teams, male and female, are required to practice every first period of the first semester in a credited course. Students participate in up to three tournaments before the provincials and over 30 games in total. Bice was a former alternate on Glenn Howard's team. The 2007 Ontario Men's Curling Championship took place in Bice's hometown of Sarnia. Bice was on the spare list, and when Howard's second Brent Laing had to leave the tournament because his wife was giving birth, Bice was picked up to play on the team. The team won the provincials, and he was kept for the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier, which the team also won.
McCarville played lead for Team Northern Ontario, skipped by Joe Scharf, at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 1999 and 2000, finishing with a 7–5 record and missing playoffs both times. In 2014, he won the Northern Ontario Men's Provincials as the third for Jeff Currie, qualifying for the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier. There, the team finished with a 2–9 record. On the World Curling Tour, McCarville has won the 2013 Bernick's Miller Lite Open.
Mittelstadt later moved to Nova Scotia, and in 2004 joined the Shawn Adams rink as his lead. The team went to the 2005 Tim Hortons Brier where the lost in the final to Alberta's Randy Ferbey. They played in their second Brier in 2011 where they missed the playoffs. He joined Ian Fitzner-Leblanc's team after the season, and played in the 2012 Nova Scotia men's provincials, falling out in the page playoffs against Kent Smith's team.
Manson acted on behalf of Thomas Brown, a lieutenant colonel in command of Loyalist provincials and Indians who now occupied Augusta. Brown, an Englishman, had suffered terrible torture at the hands of a Whig mob and had also been wounded in battle for the king's cause. He too originally came to Georgia to create a Ceded Lands settlement, but it had shared the same fate as Manson's Friendsborough.(n51) Even then Dooly would not find peace.
The award is given to someone in the curling community that significantly contributes to the growth and development of women's curling in Canada. Her rink failed to qualify for the playoffs at the 2012 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In 2012, Sadlier was replaced by Shannon Aleksic at lead. Bernard's rink would not even return to the provincials in 2013, as her rink lost to Lisa Eyamie in the C Final of the Alberta Southern qualifier.
They brought him back in 2008 to be their alternate for the Brier and World Championships. They brought him back once again for the 2009 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. The Martin team won that, giving them (and Enright) the opportunity to play at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where they won the gold medal after defeating Norway in the final. Enright played third for Tom Appelman before playing for Balderston, with whom he qualified for the Alberta provincials.
The Football program subsequently won BC Provincial Championships three years in a row from 2006-2008. The Varsity Football Team won the BC AA High School Championship in 2006 and in 2017. This was followed by a BC AA Junior Varsity Championship in 2007, and a Grade 8 Tier II Championship in 2008. In 2011 The Senior Girls Volleyball team captured the school's first ever Senior Girls BCSS Championship by winning the AAA Girls Volleyball Provincials in Parksvile.

At the conclusion of the conflict between the French and the British, and after hostilities between the provincials and Cherokee ended with the rolling back of Cherokee boundaries in western North Carolina, the fort quickly became obsolete. On March 7, 1764, the North Carolina General Assembly's Committee on Public Claims recommended to Governor Dobbs that stores and supplies be removed from the fort to spare the government further expense in upkeep. By 1766, the fort was formally abandoned.

Her team's winning streak would come to an end in the final, where she lost to Krista McCarville. Goring's team would not qualify for the provincials in 2010, however she would qualify out of the A side in Regionals advancing to the 2011 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Many wealthy Americans agitated for military action, but the preparations of the individual colonies for conflict were poor. There was more pressure in London from Patriot Whigs who felt the time was ripe for British America to expand into the interior. In 1755, a major expedition was planned against the French in America. In 2018 Wilkes lost the Alberta Jiffy Lube Scotties final. After the season, Wilkes joined the Carey team including Chelsea Carey, Dana Ferguson and Rachelle Brown, playing out of The Glencoe Club in Calgary. Leading up to Alberta provincials, the team had two playoff appearances at Grand Slam of Curling events including a semifinal finish at the Masters. Team Carey qualified for the 2019 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts as the CTRS leaders from the tour season.

Isidore Newman School was founded in 1903 by Isidore Newman, a New Orleans philanthropist and founder of the Maison Blanche department store chain. It opened its doors the following year as the Isidore Newman Manual Training School (the name was changed in 1931), and it was initially intended for Jewish children who no longer had their parents or guardians alive. Suartas, a Herule general for the Romans, led Herule forces against the Gepids in 552 for example. However it appears that by this period the semi-independent Heruli near Belgrade became Roman provincials. In 566, Sinduald, a Herule military leader under Narses, was declared a king of Heruli in Trentino in northern Italy, but he was executed by Narses. Sinduald was said to be a descendant of the Herules who had already entered Italy under Odoacer.
With the capture of Frontenac, the British intercepted significant supplies destined for French forts in the Ohio Country. More than 60 cannons (some of them British cannons the French had captured at Fort Oswego) were found, as were hundreds of barrels of provisions. To the many provincials in Bradstreet's army, the biggest prizes were bales of furs destined for shipment downstream to Montreal. In all, the value of the captured goods was estimated to be 800,000 French livres.
The Senior boys' football team has been the Kingston AA representative in provincials for the past couple of years, with their best finish coming in 2008 in the EOSSAA final, before losing to a strong Gananoque Trojan team. The sir team in the 2010s found great success in the second half with a 2016 kassaa championship win over the frontenac falcons and they followed that up with AA EOSSAA championship and a AA ofsaa national capital bowl championship.
Gates would stay with teammate Jenna Enge who moved up to play skip and would add Oye-Sem Won Briand and Tracy Auld to play third and second respectively. The team played in the 2018 Tour Challenge Tier 2 and finished with a record of 1–3, missing the playoffs. Team Enge played in the 2019 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts and made it all the way to the final where they lost to rival Krista McCarville 8–7. Gates joined the young team of Krysta Burns, Megan Smith and Sara Guy to compete in the 2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The team did play in one tour event together prior to provincials, the Part II Bistro Ladies Classic where they finished 1–3. Team Burns finished 5–1 through the round robin of provincials defeating Abby Deschene, 9–4, Laura Johnston, 10–6, and Amanda Gebhardt, 9–6, before losing 9–4 to Krista McCarville, following up their last two round robin games with wins over Camille Daly, 8–3, and Bella Croisier, 8–1.
The team lost all three qualifiers at the 2018 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts and did not qualify for the playoffs. For the 2018-19 season, Grandy stayed with Kreviazuk and Court but would bring on Jacqueline Harrison at skip as Flaxey moved back to Manitoba. The senior girls' rugby team has won the school's only provincial championship taking home the gold in 2008. Our superior in Rome was interested in our idea, but the provincials in the United States were not. Giles with his brothers Brock and Brad plus Clark Winterton won the $10,500 Kamloops Crown of Curling bonspiel to begin the 1974-75 season. The team again failed to make it to provincials, being eliminated in their zone playdowns. Scheidegger has been playing in World Curling Tour events since the 2004–05 season. As of the 2019–20 season, she has played in 19 Grand Slam events, including the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 editions of the Autumn Gold Curling Classic, which is no longer a Grand Slam event. Scheidegger qualified for her first women's provincial championship in 2011, where she won two games before being eliminated after five matches. Ryan aged out of juniors after the 2019 championships and Gauthier formed his own team for the 2019–20 season. His rink of Jordan Peters, Brayden Payette and Zack Bilawka lost the final of the 2020 Manitoba Junior Provincials. They still got to go to the 2020 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, representing the second Manitoba team as Nunavut and Yukon did not send teams. John Winslow, for whom Rogers recruited his Rangers In 1756, Rogers arrived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and began to muster soldiers for the British Crown, using the authority vested in him by Colonel Winslow. Two teams coached by Miss Sarah Roberts finished 1st and 2nd in the regional Math Olympics competition in April 2008, defeating many other strong teams from local schools, such as Bridlewood and Greenbank. Both teams qualified for the provincial event in May. The team that finished first in the regional competition finished 6th in the provincials, and the Glashan team who took regional second won provincial first, Glashan's first ever first place at this competition level.
Njegovan threw fourth rocks for Team Manitoba at the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, on a team skipped by Shannon Birchard. The team finished first after the round robin, but lost in the final to Team Alberta, skipped by Jocelyn Peterman. The next season, Njegovan skipped her own team at the Manitoba Junior provincials where she lost to Shannon Birchard's team in the final. Njegovan played second for the University of Manitoba women's curling team at the 2013 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, on a team skipped by Breanne Meakin.
Harrison's junior career involved reaching the semi-finals of the 1999 Ontario Juniors, winning the 1999 Ontario University championship and the provincial junior mixed championship playing third for future Olympic champion John Morris. After juniors, Harrison would win the Ontario Curling Association Tim Hortons Trophy with skip Vicky Hysop. She has also played in two mixed provincials (2008 and 2009). Harrison has played in two provincial women's championships. In 2010, her Alliston Curling Club rink finished the round robin with a 5-4 record, and won a tie-breaker match to make the playoffs.

Kirsten was never involved in provincials schools competitions like the annual Craven Week competition, but he joined the Blue Bulls Academy in Pretoria after finishing school. He made eight appearances for the side during the 2012 Under-19 Provincial Championship as they finished second on the log to qualify for the semi- finals. Two of Kirsten's appearances came in their 46–35 semi-final victory over the s and the final, which they lost 18–22 to . Kirsten made his first class debut for the during the 2013 Vodacom Cup.

Leroux was raised primarily by her mother after her parents split when her mother was three months pregnant with Sydney. Despite losing the championship, the Thunder qualified for the Alberta Provincials, held in Calgary but failed to advance to the medal round. Airdrie's best season to date was 1999-2000, when they captured their second league title in four years before going on to win the silver medal at the Alberta Provincial Junior B Hockey Championship, which was also hosted by the Thunder. The Thunder have played in the North Division since 2011-12. In recent years the Thunder have developed a heated rivalry with the Red Deer Vipers.
When third Jim Armstrong was unable to play in a game due to back spasms, Giles stepped in. The next season, the Giles rink won the $37,300 Labatt's Abbotsford-Clearbrook Curling Classic. The team didn't make it to provincials that season, but returned in 1986 where they were eliminated after losing a game to Allister Frame. In the Fall of 1986 Giles and his rink were invited to a training camp which was held to help determine Canada's representative at the 1988 Winter Olympics, where curling was a demonstration event.
Later that season the team played in the 1988 BC Championships, making it all the way to the semifinal where they lost to eventual winner Ron Thompson. The Giles rink began the 1988-89 curling season by winning the $60,000 Vernon Carspiel, with each member of the team winning Chevrolet Sprints. The team failed to make it to provincials that year, and after nearly a dozen seasons together they broke up in 1989, with Giles being replaced as skip by Jim Armstrong. Giles formed a new team with Ron Thompson, Al Moore and Rob Robinson.
In the year 2018, Fletcher's won over 14 medallions DECA Provincials. In the years 2017 and 2018, Fletcher's has sent students such as Balpreet Cheema, Karanveer Cheema, Muhammad Fayk Chaudhry, Charmi Sanghvi, and Manpreet Sandhu to participate in ICDC, either in competitive events or in the leader academies. The school also used to host an intra- school competition known as DECA Apprentice. In it, small teams compete in a variety of different challenges that emulate those of the business world, such as pitching an idea, budgeting, teamwork and collaboration.
The Merchants were founded in 1983. They won the league championship, and the provincial championship, in 1985-86, their third year.Merchants Info They won the league championship again in the 1987-88, before finishing second at the provincials. They won the league championship again the next two years, and again in 1994-95. They repeated, yet again, in 1995-96, winning the provincial title, before finishing runner- up at the 1996 Keystone Cup. In addition to winning the Tour Challenge, the Sweeting team would make the playoffs in one more slam that season, the 2017 Boost National. The team announced they would be splitting up after the season ended. After the season, Brown stayed with Dana Ferguson and the duo joined the Carey team at front end including Chelsea Carey and Sarah Wilkes, playing out of The Glencoe Club in Calgary. Leading up to Alberta provincials, the team had two playoff appearances at Grand Slam of Curling events including a semifinal finish at the Masters.
Soon after reaching the town, Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith sent six companies across the North Bridge to search provincial Colonel Colonel James Barrett's farm for munitions. Three of these companies went on to Barrett's farm while three, totaling roughly 90 men, held the North Bridge. Gaius Flavius Fimbria (114–85 BC) was a Roman soldier and one of the most violent partisans of Gaius Marius and Cornelius Cinna during the civil strife of the late Roman Republic. He fought with considerable skill and conspicuous brutality in the civil war between the consuls Cinna and Octavius and in Rome's war against the Pontic king Mithridates. Fimbria became infamous for his role in the purges of Marius' and Cinna's political enemies, for his mutiny and murder of the consul Valerius Flaccus, and for his savage wartime treatment of provincials.
A week after provincials, Fleury's played in at the 2019 TSN All-Star Curling Skins Game where they lost to Jennifer Jones in the final. The team did earn $32,500 during the tournament. At the Hearts, Fleury led her Manitoba team to a 4–3 record in pool play, but lost to British Columbia's Sarah Wark rink in a tiebreaker to get into the championship pool, which eliminated the team from contention. Early works are a part of the "long woolen period" and include works such as "Primitive Mysteries" and "El Penitente". Later, Graham turned to America for inspiration and created works such as "American Document", "American Provincials", "Appalachian Spring", "Letter to the World" and "Salem Shore". Later she turned to Hebrew and Greek mythology for "Cave of the Heart", "Night Journey", "Errand Into the Maze", "Judith", "The Witch of Endor", "Phaedra" and "Clytemnestra".
The BC Basketball Provincial Champions of 2006/2007 In the 2006-2007 year, Pinetree's grade 9 basketball team were the provincial champions, while Pinetree's Junior tennis team were the Fraser Valley champions. For 10 consecutive years, the Pinetree Senior Badminton Team placed in the top 8 of the province. During this decade of Pinetree's dominance at provincials, they placed 1st overall in 2010, 2nd in 2011 and 3rd three times. In 2004 Pinetree landed their first BC Senior Boys Track & Field provincial gold medal in the 4x100m relay.
She played for Team Atlantic again at the 2009 National Women's Under-18 Championships and finished in sixth place. That year, Saulnier also played with the Stoney Creek Junior Sabres in Ontario and claimed a silver medal at the OWHA provincials. Two of her teammates on the Stoney Creek Junior Sabres, Laura Fortino and Jessica Wong, would play with her at the 2009 IIHF World Women's Under-18 Championships in Germany and win a silver medal. In February, Martin and team went to Camrose, Alberta for the 2012 Boston Pizza Cup to play for a chance to represent Alberta at the 2012 Brier. They barely qualified for the playoffs after Martin broke his 22-game win streak at the provincials in losing their first qualifier game to Kevin Koe and then lost another qualifier game to Brock Virtue. In response, on May 22, 1775, the New Hampshire Provincial Congress voted to raise a volunteer force of 2,000 men to join the patriot army at Boston. These "provincials" were organized into three regiments, each regiment having an official establishment of 648 officers and men in ten companies. The troops were enlisted to serve until December 31, 1775.

The key person in the grant of citizenship to individuals was the provincial governor: although citizenship awards could only be made by the emperor, the latter would generally act on the recommendation of his governors, as is clear from the letters of Pliny the Younger. In 92 BC he was charged with extorting money from the provincials, although he had made efforts to prevent them from being extorted. The charge was widely known to be false, but as the juries at that time were chosen from the equestrian order, he was condemned, as the order bore a grudge against him. Caesar's adopted heir Augustus ended Rome's civil war and became princeps ("leading man") of the Republic, and in 30/29 BC, the koina of Asia and Bithynia requested permission to honour him as a living divus. Republican values held monarchy in contempt, and despised Hellenic honours - Caesar had fatally courted both - but an outright refusal might offend loyal provincials and allies. A cautious formula was drawn up: non-Romans could only offer him cult as divus jointly with dea Roma.
The Drillers were formed in 2013 and joined the Chinook Hockey League (ChHL) as an expansion team for the 2013–14 season as an AA affiliate. The team competed in two games of the Chinook Hockey League's pre-season showcase tournament winning their opening game against the Innisfail Eagles and losing the second game to the Bentley Generals. The Drillers finished the regular season in fourth place, advancing to the 2014 Investors Group Hockey Alberta Provincials Senior AA/A tournament. The North Carolina Legislature set aside a sum of £1000 for the construction of the fort in October 1755. Provincial soldiers, known by the shortened name "Provincials", were soldiers raised, clothed, and paid by the individual British colonies, although they were at various times armed and supplied by the regular British Army. The total cost of the fort was only £1,000. By comparison, Fort Stanwix in New York, begun in 1758 in a then-modern star fort style, cost £60,000 to erect, while the construction of Fort Prince George in South Carolina cost that province's House of Commons £3,000.

The team had a disappointing run at the provincials that year, giving up key steals in their losses to finish with a 5–4 record and ultimately missing the playoffs for a second consecutive year. Publius Rutilius Rufus (158 BCafter 78 BC) was a Roman statesman, soldier, orator and historian of the Rutilia gens, as well as a great-uncle of Gaius Julius Caesar (through his sister Rutilia, Caesar’s maternal grandmother). He achieved the highest political office when he was elected Consul for 105 BC. During his consulship, he reformed the drill system and improved army discipline. As legate to Quintus Mucius Scaevola, he attempted to protect the inhabitants of Asia from extortion by the equites, which provoked them to raise the accusation of extortion from those provincials. The charge was false, but as the juries were chosen from the equestrian order, he was condemned.
In those years his masters were painters of the nanga-style, learned scholars of the literati-traditions that had come over from China, among them Yosa Buson (1716–1784) who taught Goshun among other things literati-painting and haiku-poetry. On 12 February 1799, in the first ballot, Kareu was elected Vicar General of the Society in Russia. He soon had to deal with the bishop of Mogilev's desire to interfere in the appointment of Provincials and Rectors of the Society. Kareu appealed to Emperor Paul I, of Russia, who reaffirmed the independence of the Society, and asked for the Jesuits to take charge of a few projects in Lithuania and in Saint Petersburg, at the Church of Saint Catharina. The emperor's suggestion of a High school in St Petersburg was also accepted, but this could not be started as Paul I was assassinated in March 1801.
Juan de la Cámara took part in the conquest of "Las provincials de Grimel de Chetumal de los Zubeniques y de los Chaulacas" under direct orders of Captain Gaspar Pacheco. This was among the bloodiest phases in the conquest of Yucatán. Juan de la Cámara founded the City of Salamanca de Bacalar on the shores of the lagoon of Culo, near the city of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Juan de la Cámara also participated in the conquest of Provincia del Golfo Dulce next to the Lake of Izabal, now part of Guatemala, under the orders of Captain Francisco de Montejo and Captain Cristobal Maldonado.
St. Peter's Priory was established about 1150 during the tenure of the Bishop of Viborg, Bishop Svend I (1106–1112), or Bishop Eskild (1112–33), his brother and successor. Bishop Svend was a strong supporter of King Valdemar I. The first recorded reference is in 1176 when the Bishop of Viborg, Niels I (1153–91), established a 'brotherhood agreement between St. Peter's and the chapter at Viborg Cathedral. St. Peter's Priory was important at the time as three 'provincials' were held at St. Peter's for all Augustinian houses in Denmark. The location of St. Peter's was in earliest times called Salling which consisted of 'herreds' including several villages.
Grave and direct accusations were made against de Buck and reported to the pope. In a Latin letter addressed to Cardinal Patrizzi, and intended to come to the notice of the pope, Father de Buck repudiated the calumnies in a manner that betrayed how deeply he had been affected. His protest was supported by the testimony of four of his principal superiors, former provincials, and rectors who eagerly vouched for the sincerely of his declarations and the genuineness of his religious spirit. With the consent of his superiors he published this letter in order to communicate with those of his friends who might have been disturbed by these accusations.
In one extant inscription (CIL III.12132, from Arycanda) from the cities of Lycia and Pamphylia asking for the interdiction of the Christians, Maximinus replied, in another inscription, by expressing his hope that "may those [...] who, after being freed from [...] those by-ways [...] rejoice [as] snatched from a grave illness".John Granger Cook, The Interpretation of the New Testament in Greco- Roman Paganism. In 2014, John G. Althouse's Chamber Choir won first prize at the Provincials Competition (Ontario Music Festivals Association) and was invited to the Nationals Competition, a first for any John G. Choir. The school's Jazz Choir has previously performed in New York, New Orleans, Chicago, The Air Canada Centre (Raptors game) as well as The Rogers Centre (Blue Jays game). In 2014, The Jazz Choir performed on the flight deck of USS Intrepid in New York City. Additionally, The Jazz Choir earned a high score of 94 in the Kiwanis music festival in 2016, the highest mark ever achieved by any elementary jazz ensemble.
The History of the Corps of Royal Engineers, Volume I, Whitworth Porter. His valuable services in preparing the plans and the means for the capture of Louisburg in 1745 were also acknowledged by Governor Shirley of Massachusetts in a message to the House of Representatives. However, Pepperrell later expressed serious reservations concerning Bastide's engineering abilities, describing him to the Duke of Newcastle in November as not "equal to the care of the Works of this important Fortress." For his conduct during this siege, Bastide was given a company in Shirley's American Provincials (67th Foot), which garrisoned Louisbourg from 1746 to 1749, with the rank of captain (1 September 1745).
She played with Ciera Fischer at the junior provincials however they went 3–4 during the round robin and did not advance to the playoffs. Back with Team Brown, the team made it all the way to the semifinal of the 2018 British Columbia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship. The rink also won a silver medal at the 2018 U Sports/Curling Canada University Championships, losing the final to Kristen Streifel. Team Brown played in seven tour events during the 2018–19 season and qualified in six of the seven including winning the King Cash Spiel once again and the Sunset Ranch Kelowna Double Cash.
Lewis turned to the creation of a fictional locale after residents of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, were upset with the town's portrayal in Main Street. In one of the essays in "Sinclair Lewis: A Collection of Critical Essays" Mark Schorer describes "the state of Winnemac" as "more typical than any real state in the Union". In "The Last of the Provincials: The American Novel, 1915–1925" noted critic H. L. Mencken sees Winnemac as exemplifying the "standardized chain-store state" of the midwest. In his critical study of Sinclair Lewis, Sheldon Grebstein notes that the "average mid-western state called Winnemac" is an amalgamation of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan.
Historian Edward Gibbon compares Caracalla to emperors such as Hadrian who spent their careers campaigning in the provinces and then to tyrants such as Nero and Domitian whose entire reigns were confined to Rome and whose actions only impacted upon the senatorial and equestrian classes residing there. Gibbon then concludes that Caracalla was "the common enemy of mankind", as both Romans and provincials alike were subject to "his rapine and cruelty". After Caracalla concluded his campaign against the Alamanni, it became evident that he was inordinately preoccupied with the Greek-Macedonian general and conqueror Alexander the Great. He began openly mimicking Alexander in his personal style.
Desjardins then skipped his own team in the following year's provincials, and edged an undefeated Philippe Lemay in the final in an extra end after losing to him in the page playoffs, winning his first provincial championship as skip. Representing Quebec at the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier, Desjardins and team finished in ninth place with a 4–7 win-loss record. Desjardins returned to defend his provincial title the next year, but lost in the page playoffs to Ménard and in the semifinal to Lemay. In mixed doubles, Desjardins teamed up with Isabelle Néron to play in the inaugural Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials.

The Provincial and Vice-Provincials of the western region of the United States initially accepted this proposal but, for reasons that are not entirely clear, nothing came of it at that time. In 1973, the Very Reverend James Richardson, C.M., the superior general of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity, met with the Visitors (provincial superiors) of the United States provinces.
Following her junior career, Chenier and Lilly formed their own rink with Laura Pickering-Forget and Joanne Comé-Forget. They went 4–5 with this team at her first provincial championship in 2013. Chenier and her team qualified for playoffs at the 2014 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, losing in the 3 vs. 4 page playoff game. Chenier spared for the Tracy Horgan rink during the 2015 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The team became the first women's team to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties, after winning the provincials with a 5–0 record and defeating former skip Kendra Lilly 4–3 in the final.

Born November 19, 1989, in Calgary, Alberta, Medrek started performing at an early age doing community theatre with the StoryBook Theatre company. She kept up dance skills in a variety of styles including Ukrainian Dance and competed at various festivals throughout the province in solo, duet and trio events. She was a member of the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and at age 15 competing in Calgary's "Youth Talent Showdown" competition at the Calgary Stampede where she won 2nd runner- up. That same year she placed first at the Kiwanis Music Festival and went on to win first place in Provincials for Musical Theatre in Edmonton.
Latin American Federation of the Society of Jesus (FLACSI) promotes the Ignatian model in the network of schools and organizations of the Society of Jesus in the Latin America and Caribbean area. The federation includes 90 schools spread across Latin America. This network of Jesuit schools is part of the "Education Sector" of the Society of Jesus in Latin America, along with the international organizations Fe y Alegría and the Association of Universities Entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America (AUSJAL), all being dependent on the Conference of Provincials for Latin America (CPAL). The non-profit FLACSI along with CPAL were founded in 2001.CPAL.
Newman offers comprehensive education for students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, organized into Lower, Middle and Upper schools. Eli N. Evans wrote in the 2005 book The Provincials: A Personal History of Jews in the South that Newman is "highly oriented to college admission". Two months later, men who had not joined the restored colonial militia could have their property confiscated. Loyalist leaders such as Brown and Wright believed that Dooly and other men on parole only waited for just such an excuse to return to the war. These concerns seemed justified when, in September 1780, Elijah Clarke led Georgia and South Carolina guerrillas in attacking and nearly capturing Brown and the garrison in Augusta. Rescued and reinforced by South Carolina Loyalist provincials, the long-suffering Tories and Indians then began a campaign of retaliation as they went from being the oppressed to the avenged, starting with the executions of men captured during Clarke's attack on the Augusta garrison.
Prior to NCAA hockey, she played for the Slovak National Team that won gold medal in the North Korea World Championships (Division II), and placed second in Latvia (Division I). Despite being from Slovakia, Tomčíková went to high school at Caronport High School in Canada. Her high school ladies team won the Regina League, Provincials and the Western Shield in her sophomore year. In addition to women's hockey, she played for the boys Tier II team in the South Central minor hockey league. Tomcikova represented Slovakia in ice hockey at the 2011 Winter Universiade and earned a bronze medal as she made 26 saves in a 3–1 victory over the United States.
The Siege of Fort Loudoun was an engagement during the Anglo-Cherokee War fought from February 1760 to August 1760 between the warriors of the Cherokee led by Ostenaco and the garrison of Fort Loudoun (in what is now Tennessee) composed of British and colonial soldiers commanded by Captain Paul Demeré. During the French and Indian War the Cherokee were sought after as allies by the British and Provincial Colonial Governments to help contest the frontiers against the French and their Indian allies. An alliance was formed and both sides initially fulfilled each other's expectations. The Cherokee provided warriors and in return the British and Provincials provided supplies and protection of the warriors homelands.

They repeated their Brier win in 2009 going undefeated for a second straight year and setting a record for consecutive Brier games won (26) previously held by the Ferbey foursome. In 2010, Kennedy won an Olympic Gold Medal in Vancouver with Kevin Martin, John Morris and Ben Hebert as Team Canada defeated Thomas Ulsrud of Norway 6-3 in the Gold Medal Game. After a win at the Alberta provincials, Kennedy headed with Team Martin to the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier. They went through the round robin with a 9-2 win-loss record, and lost the page 3 vs. 4 playoff game to Ontario and the bronze medal game to Newfoundland/Labrador.
Fletcher's Meadow Secondary School participates in the annual DECA competition, and has become renowned for their transition from an underdog team to a known competitor. Fletcher's also has one of the DECA biggest chapters in all of Ontario. Fletcher's DECA completely revitalized their program with the executives from 2017 & 2018 (lead by Amrita Bhachu and Fayk Chaudhry) choosing to run the club on the philosophy that no individual should be denied entry, but given equal opportunity to learn and experience DECA. This along with unique teaching methods in the past year and has since sent many individuals from their chapter to DECA Provincials and also sending some to represent Ontario at DECA's International Career Development Conference in 2017, 2018.

Drake points out that this edict called for peace and tolerance: "Let no one disturb another, let each man hold fast to that which his soil wishes…" Constantine never reversed this edict, and Drake contemplates whether Constantine may have been trying to create a society where the two religions were syncretized. Drake goes on to say the evidence indicates Constantine favored those who favored consensus, chose pragmatists over ideologues of any persuasion, and wanted peace and harmony "but also inclusiveness and flexibility".

Whereas the Senate had arranged for a fixed sum to be paid directly to the state, excluding the Equites, Gracchus passed a measure changing the tax to a 10% tax on the lands of the province, the right of collecting which was auctioned off at Rome, thus naturally placing it in the hands of the Equites, since the Senators were banned from commerce, and the provincials were too distant.

Though Tiberius' land measures had already accomplished their object by 129, when the Senate effectively froze it (by transferring jurisdiction regarding the right to proclaim land “Public” or “Private” from the land commission to the consuls), Gracchus symbolically returned jurisdiction over the land to the commission, gratifying popular sentiment.
Quintus Cassius Longinus, the brother or cousin of Cassius (the murderer of Julius Caesar), was a governor in Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula, comprising modern Spain and Portugal) for Caesar. Cassius was one of the tresviri monetales of the Roman mint in 55 BC. He served as a quaestor of Pompey in Hispania Ulterior in 54 BC. In 49 BC, as tribune of the people, he strongly supported the cause of Caesar, by whom he was made governor of Hispania Ulterior. He treated the provincials with great cruelty, and his appointment in 48 BC to take the field against Juba I of Numidia gave him an excuse for fresh oppression. The result was an unsuccessful insurrection at Corduba.
The Constitution incorporated a new governance organization based on Mission Chapters (equivalent to provinces) headed by Chapter Prioresses (provincials). The latter, with the General Council, constitute a Leadership Council which directs the mission of the Congregation. Investment in 1970 resulted in the track becoming one of the major provincials in the country and the GRA spent over £750,000 renovating the club house into a four tier restaurant and a new electronic display tote board was built. The track kennels were demolished during the renovation resulting in a contract trainer system. In 1981 the track changed to an all-sand surface which replaced the former grass straights, an 'Outside McKee Scott' hare and undersoil heating were also installed. The Edict of Caracalla (officially the Constitutio Antoniniana in Latin: "Constitution [or Edict] of Antoninus") was an edict issued in AD 212 by the Roman Emperor Caracalla, which declared that all free men in the Roman Empire were to be given full Roman citizenship and all free women in the Empire were given the same rights as Roman women. Before 212, for the most part only inhabitants of Italia held full Roman citizenship. Colonies of Romans established in other provinces, Romans (or their descendants) living in provinces, the inhabitants of various cities throughout the Empire, and a few local nobles (such as kings of client countries) also held full citizenship. Provincials, on the other hand, were usually non-citizens, although some held the Latin Right.
Bronze prutah minted by Porcius Festus in Nero's fifth year (AD 58/59) Porcius Festus as the procurator of the province of Judea after Antonius Felix was confirmed by first-century historian Josephus (Jewish War 2.271; Antiquities 20.182-8), and he was eager to clean up problems left by his predecessor as well as to avoid any actions that compelled the Jewish community in Caesarea to send a delegation to Rome complaining about Felix's 'misdeeds against the Jews' (Josephus, Antiquities 20.182). Therefore, in keeping a good relation with the Jewish authorities (verses 2, 9) and in acting with all propriety related to Rome, Festus' decision to refer the case to Rome (to Caesar as the final court of appeal for provincials) is understandable.
The fort's name honored Arthur Dobbs, the colonial Governor of North Carolina from 1755 to 1765, who played a role in designing the fort and authorized its construction. Between 1756 and 1761, the fort was garrisoned by a variable number of soldiers, many of whom were sent to fight in Pennsylvania and the Ohio River Valley during the French and Indian War. On February 27, 1760, the fort was the site of an engagement between Cherokee warriors and Provincial soldiers that ended in a victory for the Provincials. After this battle and other attacks by Cherokee warriors on British forts and settlements in the Anglo-Cherokee War, the British Army launched two devastating campaigns against the Cherokee in 1760 and 1761.
During the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the second half of the 5th century, several Roman-Berber kingdoms (including that of Altava) were formed in the mountainous areas of the provinces that were not controlled by the Vandal Kingdom. Since the deposition of Romulus Augustulus by Odoacer in 476, and the assassination of the last legitimate Western emperor, Julius Nepos in 480, these kingdoms had become vassal states of the Eastern Roman Empire. Masties established his territory in Numidia with Arris as his residence. In order to legitimize his reign with the Roman Provincials, he accepted the title of Imperator and declared himself openly as a Christian after 476, as part of a rebellion against the Vandal king Huneric.
Outside Rome, citizenship was restricted to Roman coloniaeRomans, or their descendants, living in the provinces, the inhabitants of various cities throughout the Empireand small numbers of local nobles such as kings of client countries. Provincials, on the other hand, were usually non-citizens, although some magistrates and their families and relatives held the Latin Right. Dio maintains that one purpose for Caracalla issuing the edict was the desire to increase state revenue; at the time, Rome was in a difficult financial situation and needed to pay for the new pay raises and benefits that were being conferred on the military. The edict widened the obligation for public service and gave increased revenue through the inheritance and emancipation taxes that only had to be paid by Roman citizens.
However, few of those that gained citizenship were wealthy, and while it is true that Rome was in a difficult financial situation, it is thought that this could not have been the sole purpose of the edict. The provincials also benefited from this edict because they were now able to think of themselves as equal partners to the Romans in the empire. Another purpose for issuing the edict, as described within the papyrus upon which part of the edict was inscribed, was to appease the gods who had delivered Caracalla from conspiracy. The conspiracy in question was in response to Caracalla's murder of Geta and the subsequent slaughter of his followers; fratricide would only have been condoned if his brother had been a tyrant.
Tacitus wrote that the town was "a strong colonia of ex-soldiers established on conquered territory, to provide a protection against rebels and a centre for instructing the provincials in the procedures of the law". A Roman monumental temple, the largest classical style temple in Britain, was built there in the 50sAD and was dedicated to Emperor Claudius on his death in 54AD. The Battle of the Milvian Bridge saw the death of Maxentius in 312 AD. In 1586, Francis Drake of England captured the city and held it for ransom. A report which reached England in May 1586 states that from Santo Domingo he took away 1,200 Englishmen, Frenchmen, Flemings, and "Provincials out of prison, besides 800 of the countrey people."Public Record Office, SP 12/189, 42, letter of Nicholas Clever to Nicholas Turner, merchant, 26 May 1586. Drake's invasion signaled the decline of Spanish dominion over Hispaniola, which was accentuated in the early 17th century by policies that resulted in the depopulation of most of the island outside of the capital. An expedition sent by Oliver Cromwell in 1655 attacked the city of Santo Domingo, but the English were repulsed by mulatto and mestizo militiamen.
Marius Gratidianus's popular support and cult had ended in his public and spectacular death in 82 BC, at the hands of his enemies in the Senate; likewise Caesar's murder now marked an hubristic connection between living divinity and death. Octavian had to respect the overtures of his Eastern allies, acknowledge the nature and intent of Hellenic honours and formalise his own pre-eminence among any possible rivals: he must also avoid a potentially fatal identification in Rome as a monarchic-deistic aspirant. It was decided that cult honours to him could be jointly offered to dea Roma, at cult centres to be built at Pergamum and Nicomedia. Provincials who were also Roman citizens were not to worship the living emperor, but might worship dea Roma and the divus Julius at precincts in Ephesus and Nicaea.
One of them, Coriolan H. Opreanu underlines that "nowhere else has anyone defied reason by stating that a [Romance] people, twice as numerous as any of its neighbours..., is only accidentally inhabiting the territory of a former Roman province, once home to a numerous and strongly Romanized population". With the colonists coming from many provinces and living side by side with the natives, Latin must have emerged as their common language. The Dacians willingly adopted the conquerors' superior culture and they spoke Latin as their native tongue after two or three generations. Estimating the provincials' number at 500,000-1,000,000 in the 270s, supporters of the continuity theory rule out the possibility that masses of Latin-speaking commoners abandoned the province when the Roman troops and officials left it.
On April 26, 2006 Martin announced the breakup of his long- time, Olympic silver medalist team of lead Don Bartlett, second Carter Rycroft and third Don Walchuk. The team had disappointed at the 2005 Trials, had not won a single Grand Slam title in the 2005–06 season, and topped it off by finishing fourth at the Brier. Martin replaced Walchuk, Rycroft and Bartlett with World Junior Champion skip John Morris at third, Marc Kennedy at second and Ben Hebert at lead. His new team won the 2007 Alberta provincials, and at their first Brier, the team finished the round robin with an 8–3 win-loss record in second place, tied with Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador. The new team struggled at the 2007 Brier in Hamilton, and lost in the 3 vs.
Growing up in South Palm Beach, Florida, Ringer began watching World Championship Wrestling professional wrestling with her older brothers during the early 1990s and later became a fan of Chris Jericho. While in high school, Ringer became involved in girl's varsity rugby as well as amateur wrestling winning four gold medals and qualifying for Provincials during her two-year career. Although leaving the wrestling team prior to graduation choosing to focus on her dancing career, she studied Muay Thai after leaving high school. During this time, she became associated with several independent wrestlers while working as a hostess for a local restaurant and was eventually introduced to one of these wrestlers Rob "El Fuego" Etcheverria by his fiance who was a client of her mother, a professional trainer.
The ancient Roman historian Cassius Dio narrates the events thus: In both of these instances, a failed retreat by Hybrida and his cavalry led to his unit being absolutely defeated and any plunder accrued during the attack was forfeited back to the natives. This lack of success, rather than the extortion of the provincials, drew the attention of the Senate who threatened to recall and prosecute Hybrida for his mismanagement of the province. In 60 BC, Hybrida was quietly replaced by Gaius Octavius as the Governor of Macedonia and in March of 59, during the consulship of Caesar and Marcus Culpurnius Bibulus, was prosecuted for the mishandling of the governorship by Caesar and Crassus. In the end, Hybrida was tried by Marcus Caelius Rufus for his participation in the Catilinarian conspiracy and by Lucius Caninius Gallus for his crimes in Macedonia.
The Kingdom of the Aurès (Latin: Regnum Aurasium) was an independent Christian Berber kingdom primarily located in the Aurès Mountains of present-day north- eastern Algeria. Established in the 480s by King Masties following a series of Berber revolts against the Vandalic Kingdom, which had conquered the Roman province of Africa in 435 AD, Aurès would last as an independent realm until the Muslim conquest of the Maghreb in 703 AD when its last monarch, Queen Dihya, was slain in battle. Much like the larger Mauro-Roman Kingdom, the Kingdom of the Aurès combined aspects of Roman and Berber culture in order to efficiently rule over a population composed of both Roman provincials and Berber tribespeople. For instance, King Masties used the title of Dux and later Imperator to legitimize his rule and openly declared himself a Christian.
The administrative structure and titulature used by the Berber rulers suggests a certain romanized political identity in the region. This Roman political identity was maintained not only in the large Mauro-Roman Kingdom but in smaller kingdoms, such as the Kingdom of the Aurès, where King Masties claimed the title of Imperator during his rule around 516 AD, postulating that he had not broken trust with either his Berber or Roman subjects. Masties had established a realm in Numidia and the Aurés Mountains, with the Arris as his own residence, and used Imperator to legitmize his rule over the Roman provincials, also openly declaring himself a Christian during his rebellion against Huneric. According to his own 516 AD inscription, Masties had reigned for 67 years as a dux, and 10 years as Imperator up until that point.
Between 1756 and 1760, Fort Dobbs was used as a base of operations for Waddell's company of provincials. Dobbs also employed Waddell and the fort to conduct diplomacy with the province's native neighbors. The governor gave specific instructions on July 18, 1756, in a letter sent from New Bern to Waddell, who had just finished supervising the construction of the fort, and two other men, stating: In addition to warning nearby natives against attacking settlers in the Carolinas, Dobbs also charged Waddell with attempting to keep peace with the Catawba. In one instance, Dobbs instructed Waddell to turn over a settler who had killed a Catawba hunter in order to placate the hunter's tribesmen, in the event assurances that the settler would be brought to justice under the province's laws did not persuade the Catawba to remain friendly with North Carolina.
In the Catholic Church, the style is given, by custom, to priests who hold positions of particular note: e.g. vicars general, episcopal vicars, judicial vicars, ecclesiastical judges, vicars forane (deans or archpriests), provincials of religious orders, rectors or presidents of cathedrals, seminaries or colleges/universities, priors of monasteries, canons, for instance. (This title is ignored if the holder is a monsignor or a bishop; otherwise, a priest who is "Very Reverend" continues to be addressed as Father.) Monsignors of the grade of Chaplain of His Holiness were formerly styled as The Very Reverend Monsignor, while Honorary Prelate and Protonotary Apostolic were styled The Right Reverend Monsignor. An extant example is the Very Reverend John Talamo, Jr. Fr. Talamo is both the pastor of his parish and holds an exalted position in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Several tribes were added between 387 and 241 BC, as large swaths of Italy came under Roman control, bringing the total number of tribes to thirty-five; except for a brief experiment at the end of the Social War in 88 BC, this number remained fixed. The nature of the tribes was mainly geographic, rather than ethnic; inhabitants of Rome were, in theory, assigned to one of the four "urban" tribes, while the territory beyond the city was allocated to the "rural" or "rustic" tribes. Geography was not the sole determining factor in one's tribus; at times efforts were made to assign freedmen to the four urban tribes, thus concentrating their votes and limiting their influence on the comitia tributa. Perhaps for similar reasons, when large numbers of provincials gained the franchise, certain rural tribes were preferred for their enrollment.
Hadrian The introduction to a dialogue called Virgilius orator an poeta is extant, in which the author (whose name is given as Publius Annius Florus) states that he was born in Africa, and at an early age took part in the literary contests on the Capitol instituted by Domitian. Having been refused a prize owing to the prejudice against African provincials, he left Rome in disgust, and after travelling for some time, set up at Tarraco as a teacher of rhetoric. Here he was persuaded by an acquaintance to return to Rome, for it is generally agreed that he is the Florus who wrote the well-known lines quoted together with Hadrian's answer by Aelius Spartianus (Hadrian I 6). Twenty-six trochaic tetrameters, De qualitate vitae, and five graceful hexameters, De rosis, are also attributed to him.
The Roman Balkans The Illyriciani or Illyrian emperors were a group of Roman emperors during the Crisis of the Third Century who hailed from the region of Illyricum (the modern Western Balkans), and were raised chiefly from the ranks of the Roman army (whence they are ranked among the so-called "barracks emperors").The Illyrians (The Peoples of Europe) by John Wilkes, 1996, pp. 261–263 In the 2nd and 3rd centuries, the Illyricum and the other Danubian provinces (Raetia, Pannonia, Moesia) held the largest concentration of Roman forces (12 legions, up to a third of the total army), and were a major recruiting ground. The advance of these low-born provincials was facilitated by a major shift in imperial policy from the time of Gallienus (260–268) on, when higher military appointments ceased to be exclusively filled by senators.
The evolution of the Balkan Romance languages and territories between 6th-16th centuries (according to scholars who accept the "continuity theory") Scholars supporting the continuity theory argue that the Romanians descended primarily from the inhabitants of "Dacia Traiana", the province encompassing three or four regions of present-day Romania to the north of the Lower Danube from 106. In these scholars' view, the close contacts between the autochthonous Dacians and the Roman colonists led to the formation of the Romanian people because masses of provincials stayed behind after the Roman Empire abandoned the province in the early 270s. Thereafter the process of Romanization expanded to the neighboring regions due to the free movement of people across the former imperial borders. The spread of Christianity contributed to the process, since Latin was the language of liturgy among the Daco-Romans.
On the 13th morning, Myawaddy's forces had been reinforced and encouraged by their success, advanced from their stockade in Ratnapallang and occupied the hills east of Ramu across the river which flows by the town. Despite the disparity in strength, Noton resolved to hold Ramu, for he was confident that further reinforcements would arrive from Chittagong. During the 14th May, the two 6-pounder guns managed to prevent the Burmese from crossing the river, but on the 15th they managed to cross the stream, and took possession of a tank near British position. The encampment was surrounded by a three-foot levee and was protected on its right flank by the river; some sixty feet right flank was another tank, which was held by a rear was also a tank, held by a strong unit of Provincials.
At the intersection of Indian trails along Letort Creek, in the eighteenth century the town of Carlisle became the jumping-off point for traders and settlers heading over the Alleghenies on their way west. A brief 1756 encampment at Carlisle preceded the more permanent settlement in May 1757 during the French and Indian War between the colonies of Britain and France, when Colonel John Stanwix marched upstream with British regulars and provincials against the backdrop of the international Seven Years' War. After the American Revolutionary War, from 1783–1837, the town of Carlisle was significant as the frontier gateway, as a greatly increased wave of land-hungry migrants moved west. During the war, numerous substantial brick buildings were erected at Carlisle Barracks for military stores and to accommodate workmen of the revolutionary government's dedicated managing body for the Army, the Ordnance Department.
The state of Connecticut was not a scene of conflict during the first two years of the American Revolutionary War, even though the war had begun in neighboring Massachusetts in April 1775, and New York City had been taken by the British in the New York and New Jersey campaign in the fall of 1776.Johnston, pp. 36, 46, 126–127, 448Ward, pp. 202–253 Major General William Howe commanded the British forces in New York, and he drafted a plan for 1777 in which the primary goal was to take the American capital at Philadelphia. Troops left to defend New York were to include a brigade of 3,000 provincial troops under the command of New York's former royal governor William Tryon, who was given a temporary promotion to "major general of the provincials" in spring 1777.
Less than a quarter of adult males had voting rights; far fewer could actually exercise them. Women had no vote.During the Augustan era, the city of Rome probably housed around a million people, including an unknown number of provincials: by Mouritsen's estimate, around 200,000 Roman citizens were eligible to vote in Rome itself during the late Republican era but during major elections, the influx of rural voters and the bottleneck of the city's ancient electoral apparatus meant that perhaps 12% of eligible citizens actually voted. This nevertheless represents a substantial increase from the estimated 1% adult male enfranchisement rights of 145 BC. At any time, the overwhelming majority of citizens – meaning the plebs – had minimal direct involvement in central government. Eusebius Pamphilius: Church History, Life of Constantine, Oration in Praise of Constantine quote: "he razed to their foundations those of them which had been the chief objects of superstitious reverence" According to historian R. Malcolm Errington, in Book 2 of Eusebius' De vita Constantini, chapter 44, Eusebius explicitly states that Constantine wrote a new law "appointing mainly Christian governors and also a law forbidding any remaining pagan officials from sacrificing in their official capacity". Other significant evidence fails to support Eusebius' claim of an end to sacrifice. Constantine, in his Letter to the Eastern Provincials, never mentions any law against sacrifices. Errington says it is generally seen that the Letter's purpose "is to flatter and praise the Christians, to show the personal commitment of the emperor to their cause, while at the same time preventing a crusade against the unbelieving".
Hall of the Academy, in the second floor of the Llotja de Mar, Barcelona The Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi (, in English "Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Saint George") is a Catalan art school located in Barcelona. The president is the architect Jordi Bonet i Armengol. The institution was founded as a cost-free school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the former name Escola Gratuïta de Disseny by the Catalan trade council in 1775. In 1849 the school became a member of the provincial academies of arts in Spain (Acadèmies Provincials de Belles Arts), and in 1900 it became autonomous. Today, the ancient school is divided into the faculty of fine arts of the University of Barcelona and the vocational art school, named Escola Superior de Disseny i d’Art Llotja.
John XXII (15 March 1317) admonished King Frederick to take severe measures against them. In a letter of the same date addressed by the cardinals at Avignon to the entire hierarchy of Sicily, special stress was laid on the fact that the fugitives had elected a superior general, provincials, and guardians. On 23 January 1318, Pope John XXII excommunicated them in the Bull "Gloriosam ecclesiam", specifying five errors, to wit: (1) they designated the Roman Church as carnal and corrupt, and themselves as spiritual; (2) they denied to the Roman priesthood all power and jurisdiction; (3) they forbade taking an oath; (4) they taught that priests in the state of sin could not confer the sacraments; and (5) they asserted that they alone were the true observers of the Gospel. Banished from Sicily, where, however, some remained till at least 1328, they established themselves securely in Naples.
Being outside the control of the provincial governors, some agentes, the curiosi (, diatrechontes) were appointed as inspectors and acted as a sort of secret agents, for which they gained a reputation as a secret police force. As their routine assignments brought them into contact with matters of great concern to the court, and as they reported back to the court on everything they saw or heard on their varied missions, the agentes can be seen to have had an intelligence function, in the broadest modern sense of the term. This role, as well as their extraordinary power, made them feared: the 4th-century philosopher Libanius accused them of gross misconduct, terrorizing and extorting the provincials, "sheep-dogs who had joined the wolf pack". Nevertheless, the vast majority operated quite openly, and the claims of the agentes operating as a modern-day secret police are certainly exaggerated.
The Romans reached Dacia during Burebista's reign and conquered Dobruja in 46 AD. Dacia was again united under Decebalus around 85 AD. He resisted the Romans for decades, but the Roman army defeated his troops in 106 AD. Emperor Trajan transformed Banat, Oltenia and the greater part of Transylvania into the new Roman province of Dacia, but Dacian, Germanic and Sarmatian tribes continued to dominate the lands along the Roman frontiers. The Romans pursued an organised colonisation policy, and the provincials enjoyed a long period of peace and prosperity in the 2nd century. Scholars accepting the Daco-Roman continuity theory—one of the main theories about the origin of the Romanians—say that the cohabitation of the native Dacians and the Roman colonists in Roman Dacia was the first phase of the Romanians' ethnogenesis. The Carpians, Goths and other neighbouring tribes made regular raids against Dacia from the 210s.
300 – 5th century AD. Despite this, other parts of the Byzantine empire continued to flourish, in particular some coastal cities such as Thessaloniki became important trade and cultural centres. Despite the empire's power, from the beginning of the 6th century the Byzantine dominions were subject to frequent raids by various Slavic tribes which, in the course of centuries, eventually resulted in drastic demographic and cultural changes in the Empire's Balkan provinces. Although traditional scholarship attributes these changes to large- scale colonizations by Slavic-speaking groups, it has been proposed that a generalized dissipation of Roman identity might have commenced in the 3rd century, especially among rural provincials who were crippled by harsh taxation and famines. Given this background, penetrations carried by successive waves of relatively small numbers of Slavic warriors and their families might have been capable of assimilating large numbers of indigenes into their cultural model, which was sometimes seen as a more attractive alternative.
After a difficult winter for the Cherokee due to the loss of the Lower Towns' harvest and shortage of ammunition for hunting, as well as disease, Cherokee morale still remained high. In a goodwill gesture, the Cherokee allowed Fort Prince George to receive a limited amount of supplies and even though it was almost as vulnerable as Fort Loudoun had been the Cherokee did not put it under close siege.Anderson, p.465 Amherst subsequently determined to launch a third and greater invasion of the Cherokee lands "to chastise the Cherokees [and] reduce them to the absolute necessity of suing for pardon,". James Grant was now in command with more regulars: the 1st, 17th and 22nd Regiments, a war-party of Mohawks and Stockbridge Indian scouts, Catawba and Chickasaw warriors; a large number of provincials under Colonel Middleton that included several who would gain fame during the American Revolution: William Moultrie, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney and Francis Marion and rangers.
During the Anglo-Cherokee War, which occurred during the later years of the French and Indian War, the fort served as the base for a company of North Carolina provincials tasked with repelling Cherokee raids in the western portion of the province when hostilities broke out between that tribe and the British provinces in 1758. The Anglo-Cherokee War began in 1758 after the capture of Fort Duquesne by the British and their native allies, including the Cherokee. After that fort was taken, the focus of combat in the French and Indian War moved northward, further away from the Cherokee homelands, and a number of Cherokee warriors felt that their contributions to the war effort were unappreciated. Several colonies, including Virginia and South Carolina, promised the Cherokee that they would build forts near their lands to protect them from hostile attack in exchange for warriors that had been supplied for the war effort.
Known for its promotion of nationalism, the organization encouraged not only the regular conduction of flag ceremonies, but it also encouraged support of the local cottage industries as it required its members during campaigns and town parades to always wear locally-made native dresses such as the bamboo hats, the barong Tagalog and the abaca cloth trousers. Lasting until 1924, the Katipunan Mipanampun represented the largest counter-organization against tenant radicalism, providing counter-demonstrations to those of the more radical peasant unions while promoting the ideals of peace and order. As a result, the more radical provincials regarded the Katipunan Mipanampun as a straightforward landlord front organization, although more conservative elements within the provincial Nacionalista circles viewed Zoilo Hilario and his associates with suspicion and charged them with arousing unwarranted expectations as Hilario himself reportedly maintained a progressive stance upon his return to the legislature. In 1931, he was elected as a congressman, representing his province Pampanga.
In the late 1980s, when advertisers were slow to embrace the few existing green magazines, and particularly one which the Utne Reader editor, Eric Utne, called "indescribable", low ad sales made it difficult to pay the bills and meet that quarterly schedule; only seven issues were published. Two Wild Culture auctions and funding from the federal and provincials arts councils helped take up the slack, but with a low subscription base and advertising revenue, a sudden drop in grant revenue, fund-raising and marketing fatigue, Smith's reluctance to step into the role of "a career publisher",Ryerson Review of Journalism, April 1991, Megan Park, "Call of the Wild", p. 57. the magazine decided to take a sabbatical. More recently Smith commented on his own burn-out keeping the magazine and the SPWC going, the dilemma of the artist-publisher, and the difficulty of keeping cultural magazines afloat in factors relating to demise of JWC.

James Grant was now in command with more regulars: the 1st, 17th and 22nd Regiments, a war-party of Mohawks and Stockbridge Indian scouts, Catawba and Chickasaw warriors; a large number of provincials under Colonel Middleton that included several who would gain fame during the American Revolution: William Moultrie, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney and Francis Marion and rangers. His force was more than 2,800 strongAnderson, p. 466. and they were prepared for an extended campaign in the mountain and forest terrain with a supply train a mile long made up of 600 packhorses carrying a month's provisions and a large herd of cattle managed by a few score slaves. Grant would be met by 1,000 Cherokee warriors on June 10, 1761, near the site of the previous battle of Echoee.
The words "torna, torna fratre"The Chronicle of Theophanes Confessor (258.10-21.), p. 381. recorded in connection with a Roman campaign across the Balkan Mountains by Theophylact Simocatta and Theophanes the Confessor evidence the development of a Romance language in the late 6th century. The words were shouted "in native parlance"The History of Theophylact Simocatta (ii. 15.10.), p. 65. by a local soldier in 587 or 588. When narrating the rebellion of Bulgar noble Kuber and his people against the Avars, the 7th-century Miracles of St. Demetrius mentions that a close supporter of his, Mauros spoke four languages, including "our language" (Greek) and "that of the Romans" (Latin). Kuber led a population of mixed originincluding the descendants of Roman provincials who had been captured in the Balkans in the early 7th centuryfrom the region of Sirmium to Thessaloniki around 681. Letter of Kaloyan, "tsar of Bulgaria and Vlachia" to Pope Innocent III John Skylitzes's chronicle contains one of the earliest records on the Balkan Vlachs.
The creation of modern France through expansion goes back to the establishment of a small kingdom in the area around Paris in the late 10th century and was not completed until the corporation of Nice and Savoy in 1860. The existing "hexagon" was the result of a long series of wars and conquests involving the triumph of the French language and the French culture over what once were autonomous and culturally distinctive communities, especially the Occitan-speaking areas of Southern France, whose language (langue d'oc), distinct from French, was banned from official use in the 16th century and from everyday use during the French Revolution. The creation of the French hexagon by conquest and annexations established an ideological precedent for the "civilising mission" that served as a rationale for French colonialism. On 9 April 1256 Pope Alexander IV issued the bull Licet Ecclesiae catholicae (Bullarium Taurinense, 3rd ed., 635 sq.) which confirmed the integration of the Hermits of John the Good (Rule of St. Augustine, 1225), the Hermits of St. William (Rule of St. Benedict), the Hermits of Brettino (Rule of St. Augustine, 1228), the Hermits of Monte Favale (Rule of St. Benedict), other smaller congregations, and the Tuscan Hermits into what was officially called the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine. Special constitutions were drawn up for its government, on the same lines as the Dominicans and other mendicantsa general elected by chapter, provincials to rule in the different countries, with assistants, definitors and visitors. For this reason, and because almost from the beginning the term "hermits" became a misnomer (for they abandoned the deserts and lived conventionally in towns), they ranked among the friars, and became the fourth of the mendicant orders.
Seminarians from nearby St. Benedict's attend Sacred Heart Junior College. By 2015 the Catholic church had 148 elementary schools, attached to all of its 18 parishes and to most all of its mission stations, along with 11 high schools and 3 junior colleges. Not until 1986 did the government found a university independent of church control. There have been efforts to detach education from the British A-level system and associate it more closely to the American system of accreditation, but the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary business people resisted. Alberta defeated Saskatchewan's Robyn Silvernagle rink in the 1 vs. 2 game 11–7 and would face Ontario's Rachel Homan rink in the final. Team Carey made history when they came back from a 1–5 deficit to win the championship 8–6 with a total of five stolen points and two missed draws by Homan in the 10th and 11th ends.
At just 15 years old, Smith played third for the Mary Fay rink along with Karlee Burgess and Janique LeBlanc and won the 2014 Nova Scotia Junior women's championship.
