Following the Civil War, Jessica Drew reveals that Captain America was not dead,New Avengers #28 a fact Dr. Strange believes to be true after investigating in his astral form. The New Avengers, divided over whether it is a trap, conclude that they cannot risk leaving Captain America behind. In the end, it proves false, as the team is ambushed by the Mighty Avengers.

Yuruzh takes the Dasht captive and rescues Althea as his main fleet issues forth from Zá to take the Daryava from behind.

Richard had previously said that he would not allow Mary to take in boarders as long as he lived, but says that because this is a resort town, it's the normal thing to do, which gives Mary the idea that he is now proclaiming that it was his idea. The town proves to be his idea, and the claim that it is respectable to take in boarders proves false. Dr. Barker, the only doctor in town, despite being semi-retired and not working nights, still gets all the business.

Back at Buenos Aires, the hitman is wounded in a gunfight while trying to cross over to Uruguay, but dies before being able to clear Don Roque's partner, Carlomagno, from suspicion over the "accident". Leonor, who had seen the hitman talk twice to her husband, realizes he was one of the workers at the construction site where Don Roque died, and makes the connection. She calls the police, who tail Rossi and spy on him as he buys poison. Back at the manor, Rossi is arrested for trying to poison his wife, but this proves false when he himself drinks the glass he was about to give her.

Clear leads Kimberly and Officer Burke to mortician William Bludworth, who helps the latter by claiming that new life can defeat Death. Kimberly realizes that pregnant survivor Isabella Hudson can save them; however, this proves false, since Isabella was meant to live even in the premonition. After two more deaths, Kimberly sacrifices herself for Officer Burke's safety by driving the van she is riding into a lake, but Officer Burke rescues her from the van and sends her to the nearby hospital for recovery. Thinking she and Officer Burke finally cheated Death, they went to a picnic with the Gibbons family, who tells them how their son Brian Gibbons was saved from Death by the survivors.
