They proved to be the surprise squad of the tournament as the emergence of an eighteen-year-old Pierluigi Marzorati at playmaker coupled with good performances from Lienhard and Recalcati led them to third-place, 10 points from the leading duo but themselves 8 points in front of the rest of the pack led by All'Onesta Milano, an Ubiratan-led Splügen Venezia and a workmanlike Fides Napoli.
