Confidence soon pressures Lister into suicidal acts, and dies from the vacuum of space when he removes his helmet. After recovering, Lister prepares to use the disc after retrieving it, but discovers when he uses it that Rimmer planned for this by having it contain a second hologram of himself.Howarth & Lyons (1993) p. 50.

Teleoperated robots, or telerobots, are devices remotely operated from a distance by a human operator rather than following a predetermined sequence of movements, but which has semi-autonomous behaviour. They are used when a human cannot be present on site to perform a job because it is dangerous, far away, or inaccessible. The robot may be in another room or another country, or may be on a very different scale to the operator.

Several days later, Solomon makes an unexpected appearance on the building site. The other djinn manage to revert to human form and disguise their use of magic but Bartimaeus is caught in the form of a pygmy hippopotamus in a skirt (a comic reference to one of Solomon's 700 wives, "the one from Moab"). The king interrogates Bartimaeus and the djinni reluctantly admits his guilt while covering for the other spirits. As Solomon prepares to use the Ring on Bartimaeus, the djinni resorts to grovelling to appease the king.

Left with few options, since the other Scavenger's ship is broken and the Watchers will consume them in the now-unprotected ship section within hours and the rescue team will take one day to arrive, Chalmers suggested swapping minds with the other Scavenger to find a solution. Before the video cuts out, the other Scavenger prepares to use the device on Chalmers' brain. Moments later the player Scavenger confronts the other Scavenger whose body is revealed to have the consciousnesses of Dennet and Chalmers in addition to her own, which explains why she appeared to argue with herself.

As the Boneless King prepares to use the cauldron to boil the ocean, Shimmer and Monkey escape and leap into the sea. Along with Indigo in dragon form, they are chased by Pomfret and marines transformed into alligators. They are nearly captured while attempting to lose their pursuers within the caves of the Hundred Children which Shimmer played in when she was younger, but by using the buoyancy properties of the needleweed juice that Indigo has been carrying all this time, Pomfret and the marines are rendered helpless as they are carried to the surface.

Then, she discovers that Elsa has lost her memories. She tells Elsa that the Rock Trolls wiped her memory, while trying to convince her that it was Anna who had placed her in the urn. As the Snow Queen prepares to use an ice attack on Hook, Emma arrives just in time to use her powers, allowing the Snow Queen to get away upon getting distracted by helping David free Hook before the large icicles could fall on him. Emma was surprised that the Snow Queen knew Emma's name, but Elsa suspects that the Snow Queen might be lying about her remembering their past experience and about her past with Emma, although Emma assures Elsa they'll find out together.

They run into Vincent (Arnold Vosloo), but Stephen incapacitates him and unlocks the door with a wrist-mounted computer, then reveals to Chuck that he was Orion all along, and that he left Chuck and Ellie for their own protection. He leads Chuck deep into the heart of Roark's complex, where they find the nearly complete Fulcrum Intersect, which Stephen prepares to use to remove the Intersect from Chuck's brain when they are interrupted by Roark and Vincent. Roark is about to have Chuck killed, but Stephen promises to help Roark if he spares Chuck. Casey and Sarah arrive just as Roark is departing with Stephen, who tells Chuck he was wrong to tell him not to trust his handlers (in "Chuck Versus the Predator").

Other shark hunters eventually go after the shark, but are killed and eaten. Back on Scaly Pete's boat, the Cajun Queen, tensions grow between him and his son over claims that Scaly Pete’s father was killed by a megalodon, even though it is believed to have been extinct for over two million years. They eventually relocate the shark and attempt to kill it. They try burning the shark alive after it eats Scaly Pete's left leg, but the shark escapes, and Kyle is killed in an explosion that causes the Cajun Queen to sink and leaves Scaly Pete disfigured. As the shark continues to grow, the film crew grow concerned for Scaly Pete’s sanity after losing Kyle as he prepares to use extreme methods to kill the shark.

Meanwhile, after the Kulku start just harvesting humans, U.S. Army forces under Major General Skyler, formerly an enemy to the resistance despite being sympathetic, join forces with the resistance to stop the Kulku. Using an observatory's telescope as a modified version of Chase's weapon, the resistance prepares to use the weapon to destroy the Raeg and save the Earth, but a traitor reveals their plans to Kor, a Kulku sympathetic to humanity's plight, but unwilling to sacrifice his own race. Kor lands a strike team at the observatory to stop the resistance and Chase uses the opportunity to board Kor's ship and force him to fly him to the Kulku mothership to rescue Heather. There, they discover that Jal has slaughtered the other Kulku and plans to return to the Kulku homeworld a hero with Heather.

Ivan and Sierra locate a large container filled with Echidna at the high school, but the floodwaters and unstable ground causes it to float away, forcing the two to give chase. They manage to secure the container and Ivan prepares to use downed discharge wires from an electrical substation to destroy Echidna, but he is confronted by Mayor Goldstein, who says his true identity is "Mr. Apolon", a former resident of a village that was destroyed during Del Ray's initial construction. As revenge, Goldstein worked his way into Del Ray's government, intentionally sabotaging the dam and levee construction to engineer the disaster, so that he may release Echidna in the chaos to kill the victims still trapped in the city; Ivan and David were two of the top scientists assigned to the project, but David developed a guilty conscience and wanted to release evidence of the Mayor's plan to the authorities, prompting Goldstein to have him killed.
