The next year, it was agreed to build a stadium for fans to enjoy the game and, due to the construction, most games except two had to be played away.

St. Peter again gave him three groschen, and now he did not allow himself to be led away once more, but fetched them the loaf.

Roach's average of 3.03 goals per game rates with the best, but he never placed in the club's best and fairest award. Although player depth is a must for a strong team, the situation with Taylor and Roach competing for the one position ultimately worked against both players and the club. Fatefully for Roach, he was too often played away from full-forward, by far his best position. In the five seasons when he was fit and exclusively the full-forward (1979–1981 and 1985–1986), he scored 430 goals in 102 matches, over four per game.

While Greif was previously noted as a goalkeeper alternate in the Slovak senior national team nomination, he was first called up to the national team on 25 May 2019 by Pavel Hapal. The nomination was for a double fixture in June - a home friendly against Jordan, to which, unusually, 29 players were called-up and a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying fixture against Azerbaijan, played away on 11 June 2019. The squad was to be reduced to 23 players for the latter fixture. Greif managed to make the debut against Jordan (7 June 2019 - 5—1 win) at the Anton Malatinský Stadium in Trnava.
The game, won 2–0 by Hull, was overshadowed when seats, coins and plastic bottles were thrown by some away supporters. There were conflicting reports in the media as to whether missiles were initially thrown by Hull supporters following chanting and jeering by Millwall fans at Jimmy Bullard (an ex-West Ham player) just prior to the fixture. On 25 August 2009, Millwall played away at West Ham United in the Football League Cup, losing 3–1 after extra time. Ninian Park (pictured in 2005) hosted 62,634 fans for a match against England in 1959, a record which stood for over 40 years. Wales returned to Ninian Park in 1978, where ongoing safety improvements had allowed 25,000 fans to attend a match against England. The UEFA sanction was further reduced to only two Euro 1980 qualifiers played away from Cardiff: matches against Malta and Turkey at the end of 1978.
Few games were played in 1945–46 with former players returning from the war. However, 14–6 and 24–3 wins over Fettes and 6–8 and 12–14 losses to Edinburgh Wanderers / Academicals ("Charie Maclean scoring 3 tries") suggest playing improvements since before the war. By the 1950s we had regular fixtures with: Melrose, Langholm, Stewarts, Edinburgh Wanderers, Melville College and Selkirk (who by tradition we played away on 1 January.) Fixtures were slowly improving and the club joined the SRU as a full member in 1950. The goal was always to create a fixture list which would lead to the Press including us in the unofficial championship.

Wales had just been readmitted into the International Rugby Board after a year of exile due to the events of the Gould Affair. The re-formed Welsh team had seven new caps, with five first time internationals brought into the pack, Booth being one of them. Played away at Limerick, and now captained by Swansea's Billy Bancroft, Wales made an excellent start to the tournament by winning the match 11-3.
Ginestra went on to score 21 goals in the Lega Pro, becoming Capocannoniere, including two goals against Pro Vercelli on the penultimate game of the season. The team failed in their second successive year to gain promotion to Serie B, however, despite finishing 4th and qualifying for the play-offs. They drew Carpi Carpi for the two-legged semi final and lost the first leg 1–0 at home. The second leg was played away at Carpi in Emilia Romangna on 27 May 2012, and although Sorrento triumphed 1–0 (goal by Carlini), it was not enough to see them through to the play-off final.
The La Tourette family operated the farm until 1910. In 1928, New York City purchased 120 acres of the property for $3,500 per acre with plans to build a public golf course. The site was transferred to the parks department in 1955 and was designated a New York City Landmark in 1973. The first nine holes, designed by David L. Rees, opened in 1929. The original course included the current versions of the 15th through 18th holes and finished with three par 3s, the last of which played away from the clubhouse. In 1935, John Van Kleek designed nine new holes and redesigned the original nine.

With Valiani and Pellè both missing due to injury and Giovinco serving his one-match suspension, four changes were made from the weekend's winning team, as both Abderrazzak Jadid and Zé Eduardo were given their first starts in a Parma shirt. Fiorentina made the only chances of the first half, but were largely restricted to long-range efforts.

In 1959, the Prahran Council leased the ground to the Victorian Rugby Union on alternate Saturdays (when the Prahran Football Club firsts team was playing away) for the considerable sum at the time of £660, the Prahran Football Club paid only £60 to rent the ground for the whole winter. The VFA rules required that all clubs have access to the same ground throughout the winter, so that the seconds could play home when the firsts played away; as a result, Prahran was expelled from the VFA for that season. The football club secured a winter- long lease in 1960 and returned to the association.
The next match, in September, saw Everton take an early lead at Craven Cottage, but captain Phil Neville went down to a knee injury in the second half as the Toffees fell 2–1 to Fulham. A tough final which saw long time servant Adrian Hegarty get the game's only try followed earlier victories against Dungarvan, Kanturk and Castleisland, all played away from home. There was also a vast improvement in the fortunes of the 2nd XV who narrowly missed out on a League play-off spot. Their success was instrumental in maintaining the high standards achieved by the 1st XV. And with ever-increasing numbers at senior level the future looks bright for the club. Elsewhere the young talent of the club came to the fore at international level with hooker Cillian Walsh making his Irish debut for the Ireland youths and received an Honorary Life Membership from the Club.
Plans were announced in July 2010 to move three of Wales' four upcoming home matches during the qualifying stage of UEFA Euro 2012 from the Millennium Stadium, the first qualifying matches to be played away from the ground since it opened. The first match against Bulgaria was held at the Cardiff City Stadium but, after losing the first two fixtures, the FAW played a match against England at the Millennium to boost revenue. With average crowds remaining low, Wales chose to play matches at the Cardiff City Stadium. The decision was cited as a major factor in the team's success in qualifying for UEFA Euro 2016, Wales' first major international tournament since 1958.
In the second round, both teams played away matches and emerged victorious. Wanderers defeated Clapham Rovers 1–0 in December and the Engineers beat Hitchin 5–0 the following month. At the quarter-final stage, Wanderers drew 0–0 with Crystal Palace (a former amateur club not thought to be connected to the current professional club of the same name). Rather than be made to replay the match, however, both teams were permitted to go through to the semi-finals under one of the competition's original rules, which stated that in the event of a drawn match the teams would either be made to play again or both progress to the next round, at the organising committee's discretion.
Meredith was first selected for Wales on 4 February 1888 in the opening game of the Home Nations Championship against Scotland at Rodney Parade. Meredith was one of seven new caps in the Welsh squad, and one of five in the pack, which included fellow Swansea team mates W.H. Howell and T. Williams. Wales won the game thanks to a single try from Thomas Pryce-Jenkins and Meredith was reselected for the next game of the tournament, played away to Ireland at Lansdowne Road. Although the team was more stable in its selection, with the same eight forwards playing, Ireland won comfortably and for eight of the Welsh team it was their last Championship match.

Following up on an early season promise by Tony Sage to sign Socceroo players, Perth Glory have successfully secured the services of Jacob Burns. In June 2009, in a bold move to attract attention for 2010 FIFA World Cup selection, Mile Sterjovski joined the club on a marquee contract, while Chris Coyne also announced his intentions by returning to his hometown club. Perth Glory's first match of the 2009–10 A-League season was played away at Hindmarsh Stadium against Adelaide United on 7 August 2009.
During the split between the establishment Australian Cricket Board and the breakaway World Series Cricket, Hughes stayed with the establishment. Hughes' captaincy record with Australia was hindered by a succession of matches being played away from home (just eight of his 28 Tests while captain were played in Australia) and the necessity to rebuild an inexperienced team after the frequent absence, and later the retirement, of several senior players. Placed under extreme pressure by the media and former teammates during a series of losses to the then dominant cricket team in the world, West Indies, Hughes resigned from the captaincy, making an emotional and tearful speech. He finished his career playing cricket in South Africa.

Scotland lost by two tries to nil and Timms was replaced by a returning Gowan for the next international. Before Timms would win his second Scotland cap, he was selected to represent Matthew Mullineux's British Isles team on the 1899 tour of Australia.
In the last month of the calendar year, Liverpool played against city rivals Everton on 2 December. In a very tight and close game, several attempts on goal were made by both teams, with Alisson saving a header from André Gomes and Joe Gomez clearing the rebound and a shot from Gylfi Sigurðsson. In the final seconds of the game, Divock Origi scored his first goal for the club since May 2017, following a bizarre error from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, to seal a dramatic 1–0 win for the Reds and extend Everton's winless run against Liverpool to 18 games. In the midweek fixture on 5 December, the Reds played away against Burnley.
For the first time, Association Seconds matches were for the first time played as curtain-raisers to Firsts matches. When the Seconds competition was established in the 1920s, scheduling was such that the Seconds played at the same time as the Firsts, with the Seconds playing at home when the Firsts played away and vice versa. In the 1960s, as the Firsts gradually migrated from a Saturday competition to a Sunday competition, the Seconds had remained a Saturday competition, still playing at home on alternate weekends to the Firsts but on different days. Now, for the first time, the Seconds were played as curtain-raisers; and, also for the first time, the Seconds became a Sunday competition.
During the 1905/06 season Maddock was at the height of his playing abilities, and was finally recognised for his achievements when he was selected to play for Wales in the opening encounter of the 1906 Home Nations Championship. The match was played away to England, and Wales were in formidable form after beating New Zealand in the "Game of the Century". Maddock was the only new cap brought into the Welsh squad, as a replacement for Willie Llewellyn; and he took his place on the wing opposite fellow London Welsh player Teddy Morgan. It was a perfect start for Maddock's international career; with the Welsh pack dominating the English to allow the backs ample possession.
His last match of the tour was against a King William's Town & District team, played on 6 August, despite there being a further 11 matches remaining. On returning to Britain Jackson continued playing rugby, but between 1891 and 1894, switched from Gloucester to Halifax, who were at the time still a rugby union club. It was while representing Halifax that Jackson was selected for his one and only appearance for the England national team. Played away against Scotland, Jackson was brought into the England team for the last match of the 1894 Home Nations Championship, but after playing in the pack for the British Isles, was placed on the wing for England.
The VFA/VFL operated a seconds or reserves competition from the 1920s, initially emerging from the Victorian Junior Football Association. From its inception until 1979, the seconds team played on Saturday afternoons, playing at home when the senior team played away and vice versa. Since 1980, seconds matches have been played as curtain-raisers to senior matches, on Saturdays or Sundays as necessary. The competition was later renamed the reserves, and then from the beginning of the 2012 season it has been known as the AFL Victoria Development League, a move that coincided with the introduction of the AFL Victoria Development Academy which provides development opportunities for up to 25 selected VFL players per year.
By the end of May, the team had risen to second place in the Western Conference standings behind the Los Angeles Galaxy, who they defeated twice. Chicago were unable to surpass the Galaxy in the standings, but were able to open a 18-point lead over the third-place Dallas Burn by defeating them three times in a three-week period by early July. The winning streak ended with a loss to the Columbus Crew in July, which was followed by five consecutive defeats that were mostly played away from home. Chicago were without several key players who picked up injuries, including Nowak with a sprained knee that sidelined him for seven matches.
A brace from Christian Benteke and a third from Andreas Weimann meant Villa had led 0–3 before Steven Gerrard scored a late consolation for the Reds. The result extended Villa's unbeaten run to six games in all competitions and lifted them up to 14th in the Premier League, their highest position since 22 September. The draw for the semi-finals of the League cup was made on 19 December, eight days after Villa had booked their place, following the Leeds United/Chelsea quarter- final. Villa will play Bradford City over two legs, the first being played away at Valley Parade on 8 January 2013, with the second at Villa Park on 22 January 2013.
The second phase of work on the new north end stand was expected to be completed over the course of that season. Real Sociedad played away from home for each of the first three rounds of the 2019–20 La Liga campaign to allow the stadium rebuild to move to completion. It was announced that the first match at Anoeta – or the Reale Arena to use its new sponsored title – with all seats in place, a capacity quoted as 39,500 (though with work still ongoing in other areas of the construction) would be between the home side and Atlético Madrid on Saturday 14 September 2019, almost exactly a year after the first new stand was opened.

Benfica took an early lead with a Van Hooijdonk goal in the 15th minute, and added two more in the first half, one by Carlitos and another from an own goal.

In the second game, played away to Ireland, George Bowen was given the centre position in the last match Wales would play with a three threequarter system. Gould then missed the first Welsh international against an overseas touring side, when the New Zealand Natives were beaten at St. Helen's in Swansea, and was still absent two months later for the opening game of the 1889 Championship. Gould returned in time for the clash with Ireland where he was given the captaincy and played alongside Llanelli centre Tom Morgan. Gould lost his first match as captain, losing by two tries to nil at home – this was the first of 18 caps he earned leading his country.
Basel consequently slipped down in the league table and finished the championship in seventh position, with ten wins and six draws from 26 matches, scoring 42 goals conceding 48, with twenty six points, 13 points less than the new champions La Chaux-de-Fonds. Karl Odermatt was the team's top goal scorer in the domestic league with 9 goals. As title holders in the Swiss Cup, Basel started in the 3rd principal round, on 5 October 1963, with an easy away win against SC Schöftland in their attempt to defend this title. In the round of 32 they played away from home against local rivals Concordia which was also won with ease.
In the late 1880s, the Detroit Wolverines and Washington Nationals of the National League and the Brooklyn Bridegrooms of the American Association were the first to wear striped uniforms. By the end of the 19th century, teams began the practice of having two different uniforms, one for when they played at home in their own baseball stadium and a different one for when they played away (on the road) at the other team's ballpark. It became common to wear white pants with a white color vest at home and gray pants with a gray or solid (dark) colored vest when away. By 1900, both home and away uniforms were standard across the major leagues.
Despite it looking like the angle was too narrow to strike at goal, the FIFA World Player of the Year hit a characteristic dipping shot over the wall and over the head of Paul Robinson to make the score 2–1. The scoreline remained the same for the next half-hour, and although it looked like Morten Gamst Pedersen may have been pulled back by Rafael in the penalty area late in the game, the referee deemed it not to be a foul and United held on for the win. United's next game was played away against Newcastle United. Van der Sar was back in goal, having missed the previous two games (the League game against Blackburn and the League Cup Final against Tottenham Hotspur).
The Storm competed in their first match in over 13 years on 29 August 2015 in a friendly against the Nottingham Panthers. The Manchester side led by then GM, Neil Russell, previously with the Belfast Giants, came away victors with a 5–4 win after a penalty shootout with the first goal scored by the newly-formed side coming from forward Vinny Scarsella. Despite the side taking a win, behind the scenes the Storm had yet to recruit a full team and were plagued with other issues such as waiting on signed imports to arrive in the UK as well as visas to be approved. The following evening the Storm played away in another friendly against the 2014–15 EPIHL champions the Peterborough Phantoms.
The Knights drafted in a core of locally-based players to form the initial roster, with the signings of former Leicester Riders player Emile Hopkins, and former England youth international's Ryan Lewis and brothers Martyn and Michael Gayle. The first import player to be added to the roster was Brent Benson, who had previously played in the Euroleague and NBA D-League. A second American signing came soon after with the arrival of Armond Battle from Urbana University (NCAA Division II), though his stay was short lived after tearing his achilles tendon in only his second appearance for the Knights. The team's first competitive game was played away to reigning Champions Leicester at their John Sanford Centre home on 28 September.
Guingamp, also of Ligue 1, entered into the Round of 64, where they played away to third-tier Bourg-Péronnas on 5 January and won via first-half goals from Claudio Beauvue and Mustapha Yatabaré. They went away again in the Round of 32, to fifth-tier Concarneau, and won 3-2 in extra-time after a 1-1 regulation-time draw, Yatabaré (2) and Beauvue again the scorers. In the Round of 16 Guingamp travelled to Corsica to play another fifth-tier club, Île-Rousse, who had reached that stage by defeating holders Bordeaux. Goals from Grégory Cerdan and Mustapha Diallo sent Guingamp into the quarter-finals, where they played AS Cannes and won 2-0 away again, through another Yatabaré brace.

In December 2018 it was announced that the club will play in the British based knockout competition, the 2019 Challenge Cup, on the condition that matches in the first two rounds will be played away from home. Red Star Belgrade Rugby League Club has developed one of the strongest domestic rugby league clubs outside of the traditional rugby league heartlands of the game in the northern hemisphere through a combination of youth and local player development, with importing coaches and a small number of players with experience.

On 29 August 2008, Sonko signed for Premier League Stoke City for a fee of £2 million, which could rise £2.25 million depending on appearances. He made his Stoke debut on 14 September 2008 in a 3–2 defeat against Everton. However, he was unable to hold on to his place in the team under Tony Pulis and became mainly used as a substitute. On 20 December 2008 Stoke played away at Blackburn Rovers, Sonko conceded an early penalty after a horribly mistimed tackle on Morten Gamst Pedersen which helped Blackburn ease to a 3–0 win, Pulis described it as 'abysmal defending'. Sonko only figured as a substitute for the remainder of the 2008–09 season as the Potters finished in 14th position.

Although that does not apply to the games played away, as Dome is just allowed to play at home, in the Tokyo Dome in which his father was consecrated (and the place by which he did chose such name for his son). When the veteran captain of the Dragons manages to bat his shot, it seems that the young boy is finally and definitely defeated, but then he invents another magical shot. New rivals, but also friends (such as Melody Norman, an American girl who disguises herself as a boy because women can't play baseball), will appear in scene, until the arrival of the mysterious Don Carlos, a Spanish ex-bullfighter who plays for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and had an old rivalry with his father.
Eugene Davis (December 26, 1870 – January 14, 1946) was an American surgeon and college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI)—now known as Virginia Tech—for one season in 1900. Davis's team played only one home game that season, beating St. Albans by a score of 21–0. The rest of the schedule was played away. VPI won a rematch St. Albans, 16–6, beat North Carolina A&M;, 18–2, played North Carolina to a scoreless tie in Chapel Hill, lost to the Virginia, 17–5, defeated Clemson in Charlotte, North Carolina, 12–5, and lost to their biggest rival at the time, VMI, 5–0.
Stout first came to note as a rugby player when he joined Gloucester, and became the club's first player to represent an international team while on the book. The History of Gloucester RFC His first cap for England was the opening game of the 1897 Home Nations Championship, played away against Wales. England lost the game 11–0, but the selectors kept faith in Stout and he was back in the team for the second English encounter of the tournament, another away game, this time to Ireland. After a second loss Stout was replaced for the next game by Herbert Dudgeon. During the 1897 season, Stout was approached to play for the invitational touring team, Barbarian F.C., of which he would eventually become a committee member.
Another objective came to be defending the rest of spectators and players of their club from the attacks of rival fans (especially in away matches), and police repression, which increased fights and riots, that occurred more frequently before and after the matches outside of stadiums (although many also occurred on the terraces during the games, sometimes leading to their suspension). Thus, they became the first organized, violence- centered supporters' groups of football fans in the world (which later appeared as hooligan firms in United Kingdom, ultras in Italy and torcidas organizadas in Brazil). Independiente's barra brava with umbrellas and bass drums in 1960. Argentine journalist Amílcar Romero stated that, before the appearance of such groups, when a team played away, it was intimidated by home fans.

Despite going down early the Latics rallied and performed valiantly against one of the superior Premier League sides and pressed for an equalising goal, which, in the end, was in vain as Chelsea ran out 1–0 victors. On 26 August Wigan played against Notts County at the JJB Stadium in the second round of the League Cup, which led to a comprehensive 4–0 victory for the hosts. Many of Wigan's fringe players, including striker Henri Camara, shone in this one-sided affair with goals coming from Camara (2), Zaki and Tomasz Kupisz. On 30 August Wigan played away to Premiership newcomers Hull City in a Premier League game that, if Hull won, would take them to the top of the table.

Nathan Matthew "Nat" Allbright (November 26, 1923 - July 18, 2011) was an American sports announcer who specialized in doing play-by-play radio broadcasts of games that he had never seen, using information sent using Morse code from the stadiums where the games were played to provide listeners with vivid recreations of the actual games, in which Allbright would describe each pitch and play, combined with sound effects to make the depiction more vivid to listeners. Allbright was hired by the Brooklyn Dodgers to announce recreated games played away from Ebbets Field to a network of radio stations on the East Coast that included more than 100 stations, providing facsimile coverage of 1,500 Dodgers games, despite never having seen one in person.

During the final weeks of the season, the Red Bulls lost two players to suspensions for violating the league's drug policy; goalkeeper Jon Conway was replaced by backup goalkeeper Danny Cepero, who scored the first goal by a keeper in his debut for the team against the Columbus Crew. The Red Bulls were seeded fourth in the Western Conference bracket as a wild card and played Houston Dynamo in the Conference Semifinals. After a 1–1 draw at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, the Red Bulls won 3–0 in Houston to advance 4–1 on aggregate over the two-time defending MLS Cup champions. In the Western Conference final, played away to Real Salt Lake, the Red Bulls took a 1–0 lead on a 28th-minute goal by Dave van den Bergh.
Margaret Raine Hunt (1831–1912) translated the tale in 1884: Once upon a time there was a man who did nothing but gamble, and for that reason people never called him anything but Gambling Hansel, and as he never ceased to gamble, he played away his house and all that he had. Now the very day before his creditors were to take his house from him, came the Lord and St. Peter, and asked him to give them shelter for the night. Then Gambling Hansel said, "For my part, you may stay the night, but I cannot give you a bed or anything to eat." So the Lord said he was just to take them in, and they themselves would buy something to eat, to which Gambling Hansel made no objection.
The Blackburn Blackhawks logoThe Blackhawks played their first game on 28 October 1990, in which the Blackhawks defeated Oxford City Stars 6–3.1990 / 1991 Season, Oxford City Stars Ice Hockey Club (accessed 23 March 2009) The game was played as a non-import challenge match, where no professional players born outside of the United Kingdom were iced. During the 1990–91 season that followed, all Blackhawks games were played away since the newly built Blackburn Arena had not yet been completed. The first home game played on 26 January 1991, coincidentally also resulted in a 6–3 victory against Oxford. The first goal scored at the Arena was by the Blackhawks' Dan Holden, an offensive defenceman who accrued a total of 116 points over the course of the season.
Kewullay Conteh made his debut in the 2005–2006 season on January, after having been ignored by coach Luigi Delneri during all his time in Palermo, and however being reconsidered by substitute Giuseppe Papadopulo, who made him play first in a UEFA Cup match played away against SK Slavia Praha, in which Conteh scored a goal. After a number of impressive showings, Conteh renewed his contract for Palermo, which was due in June 2006, for two more years. On August 2006 he was loaned to Atalanta B.C., but failed to break into the starting lineup in the 2006–07 season. On August 2007, he rescinded his contract with Palermo and joined Serie B side AlbinoLeffe in a free transfer, signing a one-year-long contract with the seriani.
One consequence of the turf surface was that clubs could decide not to play on the surface in cup matches, and so for the next 5 years all of Stirling Albion's home cup games were played away. With the supposed advantage of the artificial pitch not working, St Johnstone defeated the Binos by six goals on the artificial surface, Peebles was relieved of his duties and Jim Fleeting was appointed. Fleeting was manager for six months but shook the club up and served as a launch pad for the next 10 years. When Fleeting left to manage Kilmarnock days after declaring his "loyalty to Stirling Albion, a sincere loyalty I'm proud to say", Bino's star striker John Brogan was promoted to manager and would finally lead the Binos out of Division 2 in 1991.
On the final day of the 2019–20 season, only one out of Watford, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth will survive (Norwich City were already relegated). Villa and Watford were tied on 34 points, with Villa above Watford by one goal, while Bournemouth were three points and one goal behind Villa. All three teams played away from home on the last day: Villa at West Ham United, Watford at Arsenal and Bournemouth at Everton. Bournemouth must win and hope both Villa and Watford lose to survive, while whoever had the better result among Villa and Watford will be guaranteed safety. In the end, Watford were relegated after a 3-2 loss, while Bournemouth went down despite winning 3-1 due to Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw at West Ham.
After a flurry of emails and telephone conversations the club had its first meeting at the Fortescue pub on Mutley Plain. Numbers grew and the club – now based at the new Stonehouse Creek Leisure and Social Club on Stonehouse Creek – played its first games at the Bristol and West 9s on 16 May 2004. Despite losing three of their games and drawing the other the club had given a taste of the game to a number of new players and the first full 13-a-side game was played away to Blandford Bulldogs in Dorset on 3 July 2004 with a return game on the Creek on 15 August. Despite losing both games interest was maintained and the club successfully applied for membership of the Rugby League Conference in January 2005.
Feyenoord's decisive match was played away to FC Groningen, with their stadium De Kuip being packed with fans who watched the match live on a huge screen, unique at that time. Feyenoord won the match 0–5, and Kiprich scored the first goal. Feyenoord was able to catch up in the 1993/94 season, but eventually finished in second position in the league, three points behind winners Ajax. As the Dutch Champions Feyenoord played in the UEFA Champions League 1993-94 but were unable to reach the group stage after being beaten by FC Porto due to a 90th-minute strike by Domingos. Despite that Kiprich was still able to retain his average of winning one prize a season at Feyenoord as the KNVB Cup was won for the third time in four seasons, when NEC was beaten 2–1.
South Africa hosted a three-test series against Ireland, meanwhile Wales toured New Zealand, where they played the a three-test series against the world champions, the All Blacks, and played a mid-week match against the Chiefs. In addition to this, Wales travelled to London, where they contested the Old Mutual Wealth Cup with England before travelling to New Zealand. Argentina hosted Italy, before they played a two-test series against France, whilst Italy continued their tour of the Americas in North America, where they played Canada and the United States. 2019 Rugby World Cup hosts Japan looked to improve on their 2015 Rugby World Cup display when they hosted Scotland for a two-test series, whilst they also played away to Canada in a first ever international rugby union Test match at BC Place.
Despite this indifferent performance, the English football establishment made no changes in policy, maintaining that England remained the best in the world and had simply fallen victim to bad luck in Brazil. Ramsey remained a central figure in the team, and captained his country against Wales on 15 November 1950 after Wright was left out due to poor form. Ramsey also captained England in a 2–2 draw against Yugoslavia a week later—the first time a team from outside the British Isles had played away against England and not lost. A year later, on 28 November 1951, England's unbeaten home record against overseas sides was challenged by Austria, then one of the most formidable attacking teams in Europe. The Austrians led 1–0 with 25 minutes to play, but were pegged back to 1–1 when Ramsey scored a penalty.
Niňaj made an unexpected international debut under Ján Kozák on 19 November 2013 in a memorable first UEFA-recognised match against Gibraltar (0–0), when he tactically replaced Jakub Sylvestr in the 85th minute. However, he failed to make another appearance under Kozák until his resignation in October 2018. After Niňaj joined Fortuna Sittard, where he experienced an incomparably more successful season to the previous ones, he was again nominated to the national team, initially as an alternate. Niňaj's first nomination to the national team nomination after over 5 years happened on 28 May 2019 when coach Pavel Hapal called him up for a double fixture in June - a home friendly against Jordan, to which, unusually, 29 players were called-up and a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying fixture against Azerbaijan, played away on 11 June 2019.
Llanelli won all four fixtures against Swansea that season, John scoring in all of them. As well as his two dropped goals in the first away fixture, he scored another in the second away game and a try in both the home matches at Stradey Park. In the 1965/66 season John was chosen to play in trial matches for the Wales national team. Although he was not picked, he was chosen as reserve to regular fly-half David Watkins.Thomas (1979) p. 162 During the 1966/67 season John was again chosen to trial for Wales. One of the trials forced him to miss the second Swansea encounter of the season, played away on 12 November 1966; his place in the Llanelli team was given to a youth debutant from the Felinfoel club, Phil Bennett.Hughes (1986) p.
The next three seasons started well for Farul, but were finished on mediocre positions. In the 1963–64 season, the club from the shore of the Black Sea finished 8th after occupying the 3rd place at the end of the first half, the season in which appeared in the squad the all-time goalscorer of Farul, Marin Tufan (62 goals). In the following year "the Sailors" trembled and finished at only one point above the first relegated team, Minerul Baia Mare, then, in the 1965–66 edition, Farul occupied only the 9th place, out of 14. A notable performance gained by the team from Constanța was the qualification for the 1964–66 Balkans Cup, which was their first participation in European competitions. On 28 April 1965, was registered the first European match of "the Sailors", Farul meeting Spartak Plovdiv, in a game played away and ended undecided, score 1–1.
He went on to win the league with the Gunners in 1994 and returned home in 1996 when he decided not to renew his contract. Ndhlovu, who worked as a Community Development Officer and then as Chief Community Development Officer for Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) in Mufulira was not for the idea of being employed as full-time coach and he rendered his services to the nation on secondment from ZCCM. During his time as coach from 1987-1992 he was in charge of Zambia for more matches than any other coach, suffering only 1 home defeat in a 2–1 loss to Egypt in December 1988 in Kitwe and won all his competitive home games. Of the 22 home matches he won 19 drew 2 and lost 1. Of the 66 games played away from home, Zambia won 28 times, drew 16 and lost 22.
Barry Bonds, who spent his entire career in the National League and actually won eight Gold Gloves earlier in his career, was used strictly as a DH later in his career when the San Francisco Giants played away interleague games because of his diminishing fielding skills. Some believe that extending careers of older players is less of an advantage and more of a disadvantage, filling spots that otherwise may have been taken by younger players who end up not finding a place in the major leagues. Interleague play has added a new wrinkle to the controversy. Some feel that it is not fair to ask an AL team to play without their DH when their roster has not been set up to do so, or on the other hand, to ask an NL team to use a DH when they may not have an appropriate player.
On 12 August 2011, a conflict near the end of first half in the match while Guangzhou played away against Liaoning Whowin became the center of attention. In a hearing held by Chinese Football Association 4 days later, the CFA believed that Muriqui struck Zhao Junzhe in the conflict, which resulted in a ban of 5 matches (including reserve league) and him being fined ¥25,000.关于对广州恒大足球俱乐部运动员违规违纪的处罚决定 Muriqui expressed his disappointment about the ban which he believed to be unfair in his Weibo and said he would leave China at the end of the season.穆里奇微博透露将离开中国 向恒大申请赛季后转会 However, after several talks with the club, Muriqui changed his mind and said he would happy to stay in China and fulfil his contract.
In the other direction midfielder Jean- Jacques Maurer moved to Servette, allrounder Otto Ludwig moved to third tier local club Old Boys, and forward Roberto "Mucho" Frigerio moved on to score his goals for La Chaux-de-Fonds. Another player who left the squad was defender Werner Bopp who moved on to Nordstern Basel and retired. Bopp had played 16 seasons for Basel, playing in 321 league and 43 cup matches scoring 15 goals in during these appearences. Basel played a total of 43 games this season. Of these 43 matches 26 were in the domestic league, one was in the Swiss Cup and 16 were friendly matches. Of these test matches five were played as hosts and 11 were played away, 12 were won, two were drawn and two ended with a defeat. The team scored 55 goals and conceded 29. The two defeats were suffered at the Landhof against VfR Mannheim and in the St. Jakob Stadium against Santos.
If the score is still tied after extra time, some competitions allow the use of penalty shootouts (known officially in the Laws of the Game as "kicks from the penalty mark") to determine which team will progress to the next stage of the tournament. Goals scored during extra time periods count towards the final score of the game, but kicks from the penalty mark are only used to decide the team that progresses to the next part of the tournament (with goals scored in a penalty shootout not making up part of the final score). In competitions using two-legged matches, each team competes at home once, with an aggregate score from the two matches deciding which team progresses. Where aggregates are equal, the away goals rule may be used to determine the winners, in which case the winner is the team that scored the most goals in the leg they played away from home.
All Victorian clubs left the state for the majority of the season, basing themselves primarily in Queensland, and on 24 August it was announced that the MCG could not host the Grand Final. The Gabba (officially referred to as the Brisbane Cricket Ground), home stadium of the Brisbane Lions and based in the central Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba, Queensland, was ultimately announced to host the match; Adelaide Oval was kept available as a back-up venue in the event of a virus outbreak in Brisbane. As part of negotiations, the deal to play the Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was extended by one year to 2058, and two extra home-and-away matches were granted to the ground in 2022 and 2023. This will mark the first time that a VFL/AFL grand final will be played outside of Victoria, and the first time since 1991 that the match will be played away from the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
26 of these games were in the domestic league, three were in the Swiss Cup, five were in the Cup of the Alps, two were in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and 15 were friendly matches. Of these 15 test games 12 were won and two ended with a draw and one ended in a defeat. Seven were played at home and eight played away. There were 14 teams contesting in the 1968–69 Nationalliga A- These were the top 12 teams from the previous 1967–68 season and the two newly promoted teams Winterthur and St. Gallen. Basel finished the league season as champions one point ahead of Lausanne Sports in second position, who they defeated 4–0 in the second last match of the season, and six points clear of FC Zürich who finished third. Basel won 13 of the 26 games, drawing ten, losing three times, they scored 48 goals conceding 28. Helmut Hauser was the team's top goal scorer with 16 league goals.
As Benfica sought a way to provide playing time for their youth and reserve players, they created a B team in 1999. The team officially started competing in the 1999–2000 season, with their first match played away against Portimonense S.C. (2–2) in late August."Despertador encarnado tocou tarde" A Bola, 30 August 1999 After three seasons in the Portuguese Second Division, they suffered relegation to the Portuguese Third Division, where they would spend three years, before achieving promotion to the Portuguese Second Division in 2005. In May of the following year, the board of directors extinguished the side, which returned to activity shortly after as part of the Liga Intercalar. As part of this competition, the team's best league finish was a second place, behind Estoril B, in the South Zone of the 2010–11 season. Before the end of the 2011–12 football season in Portugal, seven Primeira Liga clubs announced their interest in creating a reserve team to fill the six vacancies available in the Segunda Liga (now Liga Portugal 2) for the 2012–13 campaign.
In an American League ballpark, both teams have the option to use a DH. In a National League ballpark, both teams' pitchers must bat. Teams from both leagues have both benefited and have been at a disadvantage when it comes to the DH rule in interleague play. For instance, Barry Bonds, who spent his entire career in the National League and actually won eight Gold Gloves earlier in his career, was used strictly as a DH later in his career when the San Francisco Giants played away interleague games due to his poor fielding. Conversely, Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, who spent his entire career in the American League and was the Red Sox's regular DH, was forced to play first base when the Red Sox had away interleague games, forcing the Sox to give up good defensive fielding in favor of retaining Ortiz's power hitting. In 2007, two teams — the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles — played six games with more than one interleague opponent.
In the pre-season, Brunswick asked the Association for permission to sublet its home ground, Gillon Oval, to the Juventus soccer club, which was playing in the Victorian soccer competition. Brunswick was struggling financially due to a declining supporter base and sponsorship, and could barely afford to operate; but, it had arranged a deal with the Brunswick Council for a ten-winter lease of Gillon Oval which was financially viable for the club only if it could sublet the ground to Juventus on alternate weekends. The Association had historically operated under strict ground control rules which required clubs to have access to their grounds throughout the winter: these rules served the practical purpose of ensuring the Seconds had a venue to use on weekends when the Firsts played away; and, served the strategic purpose of tying up the best suburban venues to maintain a competitive advantage over rival codes, most notably soccer and rugby. These ground control rules were most strictly enforced in 1959 when Prahran was expelled from the Association because the Victorian Rugby Union was given access to Toorak Park.
Of their 16 test games, 12 ended with a victory, one was drawn, three ended with a defeat, the team scored 78 goals and conceded 18. Only one of these test games were played at home in St. Jakob Stadium, againt Bayern Munich, all the others were all played away. Basel played in the 1985–86 Nationalliga A, which was contested by 16 teams, these being the top 14 clubs from the previous 1984–85 season and the two promoted teams from the second level Nationalliga B the previous season, these being Grenchen and Baden. Basel ended the season in tenth position, 14 points behind BSC Young Boys who became that seasons champions and qualified for the 1986–87 European Cup. In their 30 league championship matches Basel won ten games, drew ten and also lost ten, which meant that they obtained 30 points. They scored 44 and conceding 40 goals. Erni Maissen was the team's top league goal scorer with 14 goals, Enrique Mata scored seven, Thomas Hauser scored five. Xamax and Luzern qualified for the 1986–87 UEFA Cup.
Ottmar Hitzfeld was Basel's top league goal scorer with 16 league goals, Walter Balmer second with 14 league goals and Karl Odermatt third best with 9 goals. The average attendance at the league matches was 18'769 spectators, the highest number of spectators came to the stadium for the last game of the season against Zürich For Basel the Swiss Cup started in the round of 32 on 24 October 1971 with a 3–1 home win against Monthey. On 21 November in the round of 16 Basel played away from home against La Chaux-de- Fonds. The match resulted with a 3–0 success. The quarter-final was played on 12 March 1972 in Zürich against Grasshopper-Club. The tie ended with a 1–1 draw and this meant a replay three days later. Basel won the replay 3–2 and continued onto the semi-finals against BSC Young Boys. In the Wankdorf Stadium on 3 April Karl Odermatt and Walter Balmer each scored a goal to give Basel a 2–0 victory.
Kiribati have only ever played 11 International matches up to April 2012 where they scored 7 goals and conceded 125. All of these matches were played away from home due to the lack of grass pitches in the archipelago. The Bairiki National Stadium has a sand pitch rather than grass. Kiribati's first match took place in Fiji on 30 August 1979 when they played Fiji, losing 24–0 in a South Pacific Games match. The side have never won a match but came very close when they lost 3–2 to fellow minnows Tuvalu on 30 June 2003 in Pool A of the South Pacific Games in Fiji, as well as losing 4–2 in penalties to Tuvalu in the consolation round of the 1979 South Pacific Games. Kiribati's only two goals in the 2011 Pacific games were scored by Karotu Bakaane versus Papua New Guinea and Erene Bakineti versus Tahiti, but in the 2003 competition, both goals against Tuvalu came from Lawrence Nemeia on the 26th minute and the 46th minute.
Zamalek, also of Premier League, started the tournament on the first round on 11 January 2015 at home against Second Division team Nogoom El Mostakbal, Zamalek has played the match with the reserve team, resulting Mohamed Hamam scoring the opener for Nogoom Al Mostakbal early in the second half; giving them the lead for only 7 minutes as Ahmed Ali Kamel scored the equalizer on the 59th minute and the winning goal on the 87th minute.
