In 1989 he formed Damaged, a deathgrind band in Ballarat, with Jarrod Bongiorno, Jamie Ludbrook (on bass guitar and vocals) and Paul Meddick. The group's style was described as "hatecore" by SputnikMusic's reviewer, which is a combination of "death metal, grindcore and hardcore elements".
Ravel was born and bred in Los Angeles to a Russian-German- Polish father and a Colombian mother. Martin Drew was born on 11 February 1944 in Northampton, England, and started to play the drums when he was six years old. He played his first professional engagement at the age of 13. Studying with drummer George Fierstone gave Drew a solid musical and technical background. Drew was best known for his extensive work in Oscar Peterson and Ronnie Scott's groups, with which he became an international name.

Meco Monardo was born in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, to parents of Italian descent. Building model ships, science fiction and movies were some of his boyhood preoccupations. His father played the valve trombone in a small Italian band, and through him Meco got his first musical education. Meco wanted to play the drums, but his father convinced him that the trombone was the right instrument, and at nine that was the instrument with which he was to stay.
Recurring themes in Adkins' catalogue included sex, heartbreak, decapitation, aliens, hot dogs and poultry. Lida Husik was born in 1963 in Washington, DC. Starting in third grade, she learned violin and performed in her grade school band, Lafayette Elementary School orchestra. During her brief time with the band, Husik learned about 4-track recording and decided to pursue a career as a solo artist. The two musicians met at UCLA in 1995 after hearing each other perform; they formed Vas shortly thereafter.
Bruno Lawrence, an English-born jazz musician, who was regularly in the audience, often got up to play the drums when May sang lead. The group worked for about a year and toured southern North Island. At the end of 1961 May returned to Auckland and signed with Harry M. Miller's La Gloria label, which released his debut single in 1961, a cover version of Chubby Checker hit "Let's Twist Again". He followed with "I Could Have Danced All Night" in 1962.

Robert Gregory Bourdon (born January 20, 1979) is an American musician, best known as the drummer and co-founding member of the American rock band Linkin Park. The youngest member of the band, Bourdon met Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, and was inspired to learn how to play the drums. After joining his high school's jazz band in his sophomore year, he met Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda, who both lived nearby in the San Fernando Valley. Bourdon and Delson would form their own band, Relative Degree.
Michael Krauss has been drumming for most of his life, having first picked up the drum sticks at age 7. His first major band was the Four Counts, a group with his high school friends from Mumford High in Detroit. Bookaboo, 2009 BAFTA-award-winning kids' TV series has Clarke puppeteering a "rock puppy" who is unable to play the drums before one of his friends has read him a story. Designed to back the 2008 National Year of Reading campaign, Bookaboo's friends are celebrities such as Meat Loaf and David Seaman. Since 2009, Clarke has been working on new projects, teaching puppetry classes and working with charities. Anthony and Jason became roommates to save money and lived on Silverlake Blvd. in Silverlake, Los Angeles, California. After finding Greg Gordon (at a local bar called The Dragonfly) to play the drums, the Nervous return (then known as "twig") quickly recorded their eponymous five-song EP on their own Psychic Noise Records. Fly Ashtray is an American rock band, formed in 1983 in the Bronx, New York, by Chris Thomas, James Kavoussi, Eric Thomas, John Beekman and Mike Anzalone. At some point, Thomas and Anzalone left the band which led to Beekman moving from lead vocalist to bassist/guitarist, and then Kavoussi switched from keyboard to guitar. Glen Luttman joined the band at this juncture to play the drums. Spoog, a side project, resulted with impromptu gigs when one or another member of the band was out of town.
She declares that she is shy and that as a teenager, she felt like a weirdo and had many insecurities. Wilson was born in Newark, New Jersey, United States. Wilson's family relocated to Keansburg, New Jersey, when Roger was one year old, before the town was badly damaged in September 1960 by Hurricane Donna. He attended his first guitar lesson in January 1963, at age nine. Later on, Wilson started taking trumpet lessons in order to join his elementary school marching band, although he would have preferred to play the drums. In February 1964, Wilson witnessed the Beatles make their debut on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Axwell's interest in music appeared at an early age, having taught himself to play the drums by age nine. But this is impossible, since Manne didn't even learn to play the drums until late 1938, when he was eighteen. After that he began to sit in on 52nd Street and then played for a few months aboard a cruise ship in early 1939, after he graduated from high school. Following further engagements at resorts in the Catskill Mountains and more sitting in here and there, he got his job with Bobby Byrne in 1940. George T. Simon says that Alexander gave Manne his start in 1938.

Work ID No. 883470768 He was raised by a single mother with love and support from his family, church members and his pastor at New Original Church of God in Christ. Known to be a very precocious kid, he learned to play the drums at five years old, the piano at eight, and showcased his talents weekly as a church musician. He was a reluctant singer, to say the least.
Ulises Hadjis was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. During his childhood, he learned to play the drums and guitar. When he was 17 years old, he was one of the founding members of a ska band called Julia, with which he recorded his first LP. In 2008, Hadjis released his first solo full-length album, titled Presente, praised by many critics, including Rolling Stone Latin America, giving his debut album a 4-star rating. Hadjis followed his debut album with a second full-length LP titled Cosas Perdidas, released in 2012.
Ultimately they decided to form a band with Mosshart as their lead singer, Lawrence on bass, Fertita on guitar and keyboard and White on drums. White claims he wanted to play the drums in the band, having rediscovered drumming after playing on a kit on "Another Way to Die" with Alicia Keys. He had played drums as a child, and for Goober & the Peas before forming the White Stripes. White said he felt that playing lead guitar in another band would be too redundant and saw it as an opportunity to do something different.

Junpei Shiina was born in Urawa, Saitama on August 6, 1974. He first began learning the piano at five years of age, and in high school became a part of his school's brass band, learning how to play the drums. In 1998 he began songwriting, and in 1999 won the grand prize at the Sony Music SDN 'The Another Goal '99' auditions. Shiina released his first album, Live, in December 1999 through the Sony Music Japan imprint Knockers Records, later debuting properly under Sony in November 2000 with the Shinichi Osawa-produced single "Sekai".
Percussionist Sanjay Shrestha, who used to play the drums for the St Xavier's school band, was involved with Nepali fusion rock act Shristi. Flute maestro Manoj Singh would soon join 1974 AD and enjoy the popularity of the highly successful band and also contribute to the diversity of sound in the band. During the late 90s local guitar enthusiast Manoj K.C from Dhobighat, Lalitpur joined 1974 AD, completing the lineup. Together they would form a solid act and go on to conquer the hearts of millions of die-hard fans.
The son of an engineer, Luff was born in Bedford, and educated at Bedford Modern School. Whilst there he learned to play the drums and later formed his own dance band, briefly known as Robert Luff and the Piccadilly Players until he received a writ from a lawyer representing the more famous Piccadilly Players. As a keen fan of big band music, he eventually branched out into booking bands in and around his home town. In 1995 he was appointed CBE for his services to charity, such as the St John Ambulance.
Alex Kenyon and James McMurrugh both left in late 2003 and Steven Joseph (bass) joined the band soon after with the band now being accompanied by a drum machine. In 2005 the band became a four-piece again with the addition of Edd Crossman on the drums. This line-up lasted until 2009 when Edd Crossman was replaced by Zak Hayne. Zak Hayne left soon after and Dominic James decided to now play the drums instead of the guitar and Nick Alexander was also playing guitar in addition to singing.

The EP was announced on 8 September 2014 via Haken's Facebook page. The EP's three tracks are reworked songs from their 2008 demo, Enter the 5th Dimension. Commenting on the option of reworking old tracks, guitarist Charlie Griffiths said: The ending song, "Crystallised"—which is based on the track "Snow", -- is 19 minutes long and features guest performances from guitarist Pete Rinaldi (Headspace) and drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Flying Colors, ex-Adrenaline Mob, ex- Dream Theater). The band initially said Portnoy would not play the drums nor sing.

In 1996, Steve Rowe started his search for a new drummer and guitarist. The drum position was filled by longtime roadie Keith Bannister, who had become a Christian during the first Mortification tour back in 1990. Easton, whose mother had registered the name of the group and therefore owned it, declared that from this point on he intended to be the singer, forcing Ely to play the drums. Le Mans were an indie rock band from the Basque country, Spain, in existence between 1993 and 1998. Having previously toured and released records under the name Aventuras de Kirlian, the group took a new direction as they hired a new member, Gorka Ochoa, to play the drums. Together with La Buena Vida it was one of the main exponents of "Donosti Sound", a style similar to Twee pop. In 2000 the Argentine band Suárez recorded the EP 29:09:00, consisting of 5 cover versions of Le Mans songs.

A native of Penzance (Cornwall, UK), David Mark Pearce began playing the guitar in earnest at the age of 15 after first learning to play the drums. Dean Butterworth was born in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. He moved to the United States at age 10 and started learning to play the drums at age 12. During the early years he focused on the intricacies of jazz and fusion drumming, but after experiencing the chameleon-like way in which Stewart Copeland of The Police switched fluidly from one style to another, often within the same song, he began to branch out into many different styles. His stepfather, Patrick Shanahan, was also an influence on his drumming, advising him to learn a wide variety of musical styles.
Glay formed in 1988 as a high school band when Takuro asked Teru, a schoolmate, to play the drums. They found a bassist but had difficulty finding a vocalist. When Teru made a tape of his singing and gave it to Takuro he was immediately recruited for the part, leaving the drums part to be filled by another person. On the search for a second guitarist, Hisashi was asked to join but declined the offer, as he was already part of a locally well-known heavy punk/rock band called Ari, which better suited his taste in music.
The re-issue of Shout the Truth was released on September 8, 2009 through Tragic Hero Records,Bandsonfire album presentation as opposed to the album's original pressing over Science Records. For this re-recording, Confide went back to Cameron Webb's studio to re-record the clean vocals with new drummer and vocalist Joel Piper, with an exception for "Such Great Heights". Piper only recorded vocals for these songs and does not play the drums on any of the tracks on the re-release. The drums on all other tracks are the original drums recorded on the original album by former drummer Arin Ilejay.
Uruguayan Carnival is a festival that takes place every year in Uruguay from mid January to late February. It is related to candombe, Murga and tablados. It has evolved into a dance parade in which different comparsas play the drums and dance to the music at "Desfile Inaugural del Carnaval" and Llamadas parade. The biggest carnival celebrations are in the capital Montevideo and can last up to 40 days, involving a series of cultural events such as dance parades in the streets, street stages called "tablados" and an artistic contest in the "Teatro de Verano" (Summer Theatre) in Montevideo.

Born in Toronto to South Korean parents, some of Im's first memories of beatboxing were of him mimicking his father's piano playing and singing. It was from that point that his parents decided to nurture his joy for music and his hunger to create music. As he got older and through his parents encouragement, he learned to play the piano, the flute and the drums. He began beatboxing while he was learning to play the drums in Grade 7, and whenever he wasn't drumming he was inclined to mimic the sounds he made while drumming with his mouth.
In 2002 Hot Snakes reconvened to record the album Suicide Invoice and tour the United States. The following year Kourkounis left the band to play full-time with Burning Brides, and Reis once again returned to work with Rocket from the Crypt. When Hot Snakes again returned to the recording studio in 2004, Rocket from the Crypt drummer Mario Rubalcaba (also of The Black Heart Procession, Clikatat Ikatowi, Earthless, 411, and Chicanochrist) was brought in to play the drums. The album Audit in Progress was released and the band extensively toured the USA, as well as Europe and Australia.

In 1927 Beddoes was spotted by Dick Tubb and gave up the idea of a career in art to tour as juvenile lead in The Bird's Nest. Having in his early teens taught himself to play the drums and read music, he also joined the orchestra to play jazz in the interval. In 1929 he became a drummer for the silent films until the talkies put him out of a job. Although he still wanted to pursue an artistic career, with the financial crisis of that time it was almost impossible to find commercial art work.

Two DVD box sets followed, Genesis Live 1973–2007 and Genesis Movie Box 1981–2007, in 2009. After 2011, Genesis members expressed mixed opinions about a reunion. Collins retired from the music industry as an active musician that year in favour of family commitments and has stated he can no longer play the drums due to medical issues.
8 Foot Sativa's drummer at the time, Corey Friedlander, was planned to play the drums for this album but was unable to perform to the standard required of the album's producer. Steven Westerberg from Carnal Forge ended up doing the drumming on this album. Petri Kuusisto, also from Carnal Forge, performed the guitar solos on the songs Crosses For Eyes and For The Birds. On the Official Forums Ben Read, the lead vocalist, stated that due to a breached contract Poison of Ages would not be able to be released until the band put together NZD $20,000.
A Puerto Rican Cuatro Segarra was born in Maricao, Puerto Rico into a family of musicians. He was always surrounded by many musical instruments and as a child, learned how to play the drums, guitar and cuatro. He received his primary and secondary education in his hometown. In 1976, he played the drums and guitar for various local bands, When he was 16 years old, Segarra auditioned for the role of guitar player and was hired by a band called "The Monarc", however a year later he joined another band "Mundo de Ponce" with whom he made his first recording and musical arrangement.
Edison Machado grew up in the suburbs of Engenho Novo of the then capital of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. In his childhood, he started to teach himself how to play the drums. Retrieved 2020-05-25 In watching and listening to famous Brazilian drummers such as Luciano Perrone and Edgar Nunes Rocca he would follow along drumming on his legs to learn their techniques. In the years after World War II Machado, like many other adolescents in Brazil, experienced the heyday of Rádio Nacional and was inspired by American be-bop jazz drummers Art Blakey and Max Roach.
In 1949 at the age of 17 While continuing to play the drums Machado would go onto accidentally create a play style that would go onto influence modern samba. What occurred was that whilst playing with a samba band, Machado's snare drum broke. Not wanting to disrupt the flow of the music, he proceeded to play on the ride cymbal with his right hand, while he using his left hand to add syncopated accents on a tom drum. After his accidental creation of samba no prato, it would become Machado's signature play style in the years to come.
He gave up formal lessons, and instead taught himself to play the drums by playing along with songs on the radio or jukebox. Seeing left-handed drummer Dennis Wilson play a right-hand drum kit at a Beach Boys concert inspired him to keep playing. He was particularly impressed by the drumming of Ginger Baker, co-founder of the British rock band Cream.

At about age 10, Iommi began working out and learned judo, karate, and later boxing as a means of protecting himself from the local gangs which congregated in his neighbourhood. He envisioned a future as a bouncer in a nightclub. Iommi initially wanted to play the drums, but due to the excessive noise he chose the guitar instead as a teenager, after being inspired by the likes of Hank Marvin and the Shadows.

It was around this time that Eoin 'Spud' Murphy left the band due to interpersonal conflict within the band and was replaced by the band's roadie and guitar tech Liam Bryne. Shortly after this the band announced that Sean Savage (the band's original drummer) was no longer a member on their Bebo and MySpace pages, which resulted in angry exchanges through each other's blogs. This temporarily left the band drummer- less before they recruited Pat Byrne, a member of Mr Lightweight, to play the drums for them on their fourth demo, and the single "Let Go". Between 1993 and 2000, Don Caballero released five immensely influential albums, For Respect, Don Caballero 2, Singles Breaking Up (Vol. 1), What Burns Never Returns, and American Don on Touch and Go Records and played hundreds of shows, earning a reputation as the definitive math rock band. Che was known in the underground music community for his erratic and unpredictable behavior, from stripping down to his boxer shorts to play the drums, to capping off a performance by breathing fire.

His play The Drums of Father Ned was supposed to go up at the 1958 Dublin Theatre Festival, but the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, John Charles McQuaid, refused to give his blessing (it has been assumed because works of both James Joyce and O'Casey were in the festival). After Joyce's play was quietly dropped, massive changes were required for The Drums of Father Ned, a devious way to get O'Casey to drop. After this, Samuel Beckett withdrew his mime piece in protest.
He began to play the drums professionally by age 14 and dropped out of high school at 16 to play with his godfather's band in a traveling carnival. Soon he taught himself to play the piano and by 1915, he was working at the Vitagraph Motion Picture Studios, where he did a variety of administrative jobs, such as props man, and also played mood music on the piano for the actors, acted in bit parts and eventually was an assistant director. He also played the piano in cafés and silent-movie houses. In 1918 he joined the U.S. Navy, where he began writing songs.
As a young child DoRohn was surrounded by music and grew up in a talented musical family. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, the son of David Gough, founder of the “International Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” DoRohn was destined to become a musical genius. Born the middle child of three boys DoRohn is a self-taught musician who was born with the magic touch, at the age of two learned how to play the drums. By the third grade DoRohn learned to play the violin by ear and by the time he was eleven years old his older brother Damon had taught him how to play the keyboards.
Jenny Chisolm (vocalist) met Ryan Simmons (guitarist) at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and they began writing songs together not long after the group started booking a few gigs. When it became apparent that they needed a full band, they recruited friends Jay Henderson to play the drums, and Ryan Gregg (then a member of another band called Tribe America) to play lead guitar. They recorded a rough four-song demo under the name "Jenny Chisolm Band." By January 2001, the band had acquired producer Chuck Dennie from By the Tree, and had recorded their first full-length independent album called Not What You Think.
For the 9 weeks leading up to the release of the album Ben Kweller previously took footage of himself and made an internet mini-show called "One Minute Pop Song." Each episode would usually run for 2–6 minutes. Topics of the videos were varied. Some of the topics were about a fan who sent in a cover version of a song, talking about laying down the tracks and playing all the instruments on the album, showing a tour of the studio, Ben Kweller rating himself on each instrument, telling a story about Neil Young, and talking about how he learned to play the drums from his father.
The band went to the studio with the goal to complete an album, as opposed to their debut album which was "a bunch of songs that ended up on album". Wyatt said of Happy to You, "The way we thought about songwriting was quite different, and also the production process was different because we could use other methods." One of the collaborators invited to the sessions was Swedish drummer Thomas Hedlund, a touring member of Phoenix, who was enlisted to play the drums on "Paddling Out". The remainder of the instruments utilized in the song were played by the band, which also handled arrangement, programming, production and recording.
Additional details of the game were released in conjunction with a Nintendo press conference held on October 11, 2007. Wii Music was showcased during Nintendo's press conference for E3 2008, revealing much more information, including support for the Wii Balance Board to play the drums. It was revealed later on that the game has lessons for the drums programmed in. Miyamoto later announced that more than 61 instruments will be playable in the game, and explained the control scheme that uses the Wii Remote's buttons to play notes on various instrument while holding the Wii Remote in a similar fashion to the actual instrument.
Richard David Hughes attended Tonbridge School where he was friends with future Keane members Tim Rice-Oxley and Dominic Scott. At the age of 17, Hughes learned to play the drums, and when Scott and Rice-Oxley formed a small covers band in 1995 he was invited to join as drummer. They later invited future lead singer Tom Chaplin to join the band, although Hughes initially objected, later stating, "The idea of giving someone who's already the loudest person you know a microphone was not something that I was particularly keen on." Hughes then went to university at University College London where he received a degree in Geography.
However, since the drum skin is not electronic but a rubber cover switch that duplicates certain buttons on the DS Lite, a player can simply press the buttons in time to play the drums. The game includes four-player local wireless play in a similar manner as Guitar Hero 5 allowing any combination of instruments to be used. The game has a set of 30 songs; some are from Band Hero and others are from several Guitar Hero games' set lists. Guitar Hero: On Tour does not work on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS because unlike the Nintendo DS, they do not have Game Boy Advance slots.
The band played a number of concerts as a four-piece before Justin Broadrick left the group to play the drums for local band Head of David. The group attempted to find a new guitarist by asking Shane Embury (ex-Unseen Terror and a fan of the group) to join and giving a trial period to Frank Healy (ex-Annihilator, later of Cerebral Fix and Sacrilege). After Broadrick's departure, Nic Bullen's dissatisfaction with the musical direction of the group led him to leave the group in December 1986 (in order to focus on his studies in English Literature and Philosophy at university), leaving the group without any of its original members.
"Kaiowas" was recorded live among the ruins of the medieval castle of Chepstow. It was an entirely acoustic track, with Andreas Kisser and Max Cavalera on the guitars and brother-drummer Igor Cavalera and bassist Paulo Jr. handling the percussion duties. When they recorded "Kaiowas", the quartet never even considered playing the track live, because they thought it would be too difficult to recreate the drumming on stage. They changed their minds after seeing a video of the American band Neurosis: "We saw in that live video that the Neurosis guys put down their guitars and everybody started to play the drums on stage", lead guitarist Andreas remembers.
Skating Polly is an American rock band formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States, in 2009. The band was founded by multi-instrumentalist step- siblings Kelli Drew Mayo (born March 29, 2000) and Peyton Mckenna Bighorse (born July 11, 1995), who were 9 and 14 years old respectively. Kelli's brother Kurtis Lee Mayo eventually joined the band to play the drums so that Peyton and Kelli could focus on guitar and bass respectively. The band is noted for their alternating instruments among each member, poetic lyrics, intense live shows, melodic arrangements, and an eclectic array of songs that vary in style from riot grrrl to grunge to piano-based indie pop.
Thompson joined Phil Collins as drummer for Collins's solo concert tours, drumming on the 1982/83 Hello, I Must Be Going! tour, 1985 No Jacket Required tour, 1990 ...But Seriously tour, The Tarzan Premiere tour of 1999 and The Final Farewell tour of 2004/05. He also appears on Collins' Serious Hits... Live! (1990) live album and DVD. In 1986, Thompson played the drums on the song The Next Time I Fall. The soft rock duet between Peter Cetera and Amy Grant hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1988, Thompson was invited to play the drums for former boss Frank Zappa's final concert tour before his death. Thompson declined the offer.

Criss, on his website, stated that "No one, again, no one has called me, or my attorney about an extension for future touring. As a founding member I find this to be disrespectful to me, and to the fans that have made us one of the biggest bands in the world." Criss stated in a radio interview in 2004 with Eddie Trunk that Simmons and Stanley were going to start a new Kiss, and felt that he was getting too old to play the drums for two hours (Criss was almost 59 at this time). During the summer of 2004, Kiss headlined the Rock the Nation 2004 World Tour, with Poison as the opening act.
Guitarist Ljubomir Jovanović "Jovec" was to play the drums and the drummer Srđan Gojković "Gile" was to play guitar and sing lead vocals. The band gained the public's attention at the performances and, soon after, the band ended their activity as Hipnotisano Pile and continued as Električni Orgazam. Idoli, Šarlo Akrobata and Električni Orgazam had their first recordings released on the compilation Paket aranžman, today considered one of the most prominent Serbian and Yugoslav rock releases, and by the time the compilation was released, the bands had already started working on their debut albums. The promotional video for Idoli song "Maljčiki" which followed the release of the compilation featured a parody of soc-realist iconography.
In addition, Beast develops an accelerated healing factor that allows him to repair mild to moderate injuries within the span of a few hours. However, as his hands and feet change from simian to feline (going from a normal human set of four fingers to just three, retaining the opposable thumb), he loses his superhuman dexterity, once admitting that he used to play the guitar, but is now learning to play the drums instead. Following the X-Men's relocation to San Francisco, Beast discovers that he had regained some of his old manual dexterity. In the first issue of Warren Ellis' Astonishing X-Men run, Beast also comments he no longer needs full sleep.
Afanasieff flew back to California, where he finished the song's programming and production. Originally, he had a live band play the drums and other instruments with the thought of giving it a more raw and affective sound. He was unhappy with the results of the recording and subsequently scrapped the effort and used his original, personal arrangement and programmed all the instruments heard on the song (with the exception of the background vocals) including the piano, effects, drums and triangle. While Carey continued writing material in her rented home in The Hamptons, Afanasieff completed the song's programming and awaited to rendezvous with her a final time in order to layer and harmonize the background vocals.
In 1962, while studying in the art department at Swindon College, he formed his own band, called Rick's Blues, and was now playing a Hohner electric piano instead of drums. The band included Gilbert O'Sullivan on drums for a time; he later was the best man at Davies's wedding. In a March 1972 interview, O'Sullivan said "Rick had originally taught me how to play the drums and piano – in fact, he taught me everything about music." When his father became ill, Davies disbanded Rick's Blues, left college, and took a job as a welder at Square D, a firm making industrial control products and systems, which had a factory on the Cheney Manor Trading Estate in Swindon.
After a discontinued internship at a local greenery, Lindqvist's aunt contacted the Institute for the Blind in Solna by Stockholm to arrange for him to attend Tomteboda School for the Blind, then the leading school for blind education in Sweden. He stayed there from October 1951 to June 1952. Even if the main motivation was for him to learn reading and writing in braille, Lindqvist also received training in basket weaving, Swedish language and literature, music – he started to play the drums in a jazz band – and sports. Through a gymnastics teacher he was introduced to the ideas of the still young disability movement that advocated for a better inclusion of disabled people into Swedish society.
He grew up in Kirkland, WA where he began learning to play the drums at the age of three thanks to a family friend. Beginning at age 11 Waling would participate in symphonic and jazz bands and take private lessons to become a classically trained musician. Later in life he continued with private lessons from drummers such as Chase Culp and Dave Elitch. Later he would go on to work for and sub for Chase Clup at The Donn Bennett Drum School and the Rock-It Music Academy drumset and Rock Band summer camps in Bellevue, WA. At 19 year old Waling began life as a touring musician with the band Desillusion.
However, more recently Osbourne has criticised Ward's health, describing him in 2013 as "incredibly overweight" and suggesting that he would have been unable to drum for Black Sabbath had he stayed in the band following their 2011 reunion, given his physical condition, although Ward himself has insisted his health has not affected his ability to play the drums. Ward later admitted he underwent gastrointestinal surgery in 2013, and is still recovering. "My health right now is not bad but it's not good enough to certainly play in any band never mind Black Sabbath." Ward stated in an interview he "lost a friend" in Osbourne after his statements about Ward's health in 2012, but maintained contact with Butler and Iommi.
Publicity shot in 1967 In assigning instruments for purposes of the television show, a dilemma arose as to which of the four would be the drummer. Both Nesmith (a skilled guitarist and bassist) and Tork (who could play several stringed and keyboard instruments) were peripherally familiar with the instrument but both declined to give the drum set a try. Jones knew how to play the drums and tested well enough initially on the instrument, but the producers felt that, behind a drum kit, the camera would exaggerate his short stature and make him virtually hidden from view. Thus, Dolenz (who only knew how to play the guitar) was assigned to become the drummer.
In a 2003 show in Las Vegas, Finestone reunited with Bad Religion to play the drums for "Fuck Armageddon...This Is Hell" with the band live on stage. Pete is from the San Fernando Valley town of Northridge, roughly 20 miles north of Los Angeles, where Bad Religion is centered, and makes a living building workout machines at a local business. He was a former music student of original Circle Jerks drummer Lucky Lehrer and is featured in Bad Religion's 1989 European tour documentary Along the Way. Pete is still drumming today and is rumoured to be playing in several bands including Black On Sunshine and Jackass as well as doing studio work and film scoring.
Harmon and Lindsay were among the very few who later managed to create another documentary, Afgan, about the same war, but this time shot from the side of the Soviet army, receiving unprecedented access to the troops and even flying on missions with the Spetsnaz. Afgan won the Blue Ribbon at the American Film & Video Festival. Warlord of Kayan told the story of Sayed Jafar Naderi, the son of an Afghan Ismaili leader and a former member of a hippie motorcycle gang in Allentown who used to work in McDonald's and play the drums in a heavy metal band. He later became a provincial governor and chief of a 12,000-man private army in Afghanistan.
Then Denny listened the radio and discovered several drummers like Earl Palmer, D.J. Fontana, Al Jackson Jr. (Denny actually learned to play the drums from listening to Al and playing along with the Booker T. & the M.G.'s Green Onions album), Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks, Dino Danelli, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham and Tony Williams. Out of high school, Denny started playing topless clubs in San Francisco. He joined a band called Sweet Linda Devine, and recorded an album in New York on Columbia, produced by Al Kooper, but before long they parted ways. Denny went on to work with several local bands in the San Francisco Bay Area and began working with Montrose and Sammy Hagar in the 1970s.
The Flames were the only band aside from The Beach Boys to record for Brother Records. Chaplin, along with drummer Ricky Fataar, joined the Beach Boys when original drummer Dennis Wilson suffered a hand injury that left him unable to play the drums for almost two years. For the Beach Boys, it was a period in which long-time member Bruce Johnston had departed the band, and one-time leader Brian Wilson's participation in the group was very limited. As a result, Chaplin and Fataar joined the Beach Boys as full-fledged members and not merely as backing musicians. Chaplin left the group in 1973 after a dispute with the Beach Boys' management; Fataar remained with the band until the following year.
On 3 March 2020, BBC Radio 2 advertised on Twitter that "a massive band" is to announce their reunion on the following morning's edition of The Radio 2 Breakfast Show with host Zoe Ball. The trio were revealed as live guests and announced their reformation and the tour, which initially comprised 10 dates in Ireland and the UK between 16 November and 11 December 2020. The tour is named after the second part of the song "Domino" from Invisible Touch (1986). Collins said that songs "based more on my drumming" would not be performed, and he added that despite his inability to play the drums due to ill health, "I'll be doing my best to play some bits" alongside Nic.
Gray also attempted to recruit him for another band, Body Pit, but he declined the invitation to remain in The Rejects. During the forming period of Slipknot, Paul recruited Joey to join a punk band called the Have Nots in the Spring of 1996. Joey would leave the Have Nots in February 1997 to "focus on Slipknot" but instead reformed the Rejects, which would play Des Moines up until Slipknot left to record Slipknot's self-titled album, which Paul played in after the Have Nots broke up. On June 13, 2016, Jordison revealed that he suffers from transverse myelitis, a neurological disease that temporarily cost him the use of his legs and caused him to be unable to play the drums before rehabilitation.
Florentín Giménez (born March 14, 1925, in Ybycuí, Paraguarí Department, Paraguay) is a Paraguayan pianist and composer. In his teens, Giménez learned to play the drums and became a member of the Orchestra of Popular Music, directed by Severo Rodas. In 1945, at the age of 20, he learned to play the piano and became a pianist in Ramón Reyes’ Orchestra, where he stayed until 1947, when the Paraguayan Civil War forced him to leave the country and settle in Argentina. After the war, he returned to Paraguay and formed his first orchestra, “Ritmos de América” (America’s Rhythms). In 1950, he formed the 14-member orchestra “Florentín Giménez y su típica Moderna”, which featured singers Oscar Escobar, Juan Carlos Miranda, Carlos Centurión, and Jorge Alonso.
Collins had settled down with his wife and two children in South Ealing, meaning he did not find much time to bring new compositions to the sessions. Rutherford later said he was impressed the group wrote "Follow You Follow Me", as they had had difficulty writing songs that worked within a 3–4 minute framework. The majority of the album was formed of pre-written songs, not ones developed from jams and improvisations. Collins later thought the album lacked "rich, jazzy pieces" like "Los Endos" from A Trick of the Tail with its merge of rhythm and melody, but could not contribute such ideas as it was difficult to play the drums in his flat in Ealing with his wife and two children.
John Mader was born on October 22, 1963, the son of Ruth (née Markham), a cab dispatcher, and Norman Mader, a cab driver who was also a professional musician. While in kindergarten he attended a talent show at school and saw a young boy playing drums and was inspired to learn to play the drums and went on to play in the school orchestra, marching band, choir, jazz band, and musicals in elementary and primary school. During high school he performed and toured with the Pepsi sponsored music group, Youth Of America, replacing Will Kennedy of The Yellow Jackets. They were a big band with a horn section, choir, and dancers and performed at festivals and corporate events in the San Francisco bay area.
Schneider's parents wanted him to learn an instrument, so they sent him to a special music school connected to a Pioneers' orchestra, where he was offered the choice between trumpet, clarinet, and trombone, out of which he chose the trumpet first because it was the easiest to play. He describes himself as very talented at playing the trumpet, and after a year he got into the orchestra and played concerts. It was here he became interested in playing the drums: he was impressed by the equipment and kept looking over his shoulder at the drumset while playing. He told his parents he wanted to learn to play the drums, but they weren't supportive because "they were both from the classical world".

Barrett was born in Waukegan, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He learned to play the drums at the age of three years, and while on a scholarship to Northern Illinois University, he immersed himself in trios to big band, while studying with jazz greats Ed Thigpen and Wynton Marsalis. He moved to Los Angeles and found work as a session musician, and has worked with Colbie Caillat (and worked as her music director), Macy Gray, Josh Kelly as well as numerous soundtrack albums, including Twilight: Breaking Dawn and the Kikaider Reboot. He also backed up artists, including Sade, George Benson, Pink, and others on televised performances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and others.
Loomis was born in Galveston, Texas, United States, to musical parents and he learned to play the drums, piano, guitar and harmonica at an early age. In his teenage years, he was part of a doo-wop singing family group that performed at the Delta Blues Festival. Having broken away from this stricture, Loomis began playing solo and met a number of renowned blues musicians. Loomis later commented, "When I was coming up in the music scene, I was lucky to have musical mentors like Joe "Guitar" Hughes, Johnny Copeland, and of course, rock icon Bo Diddley.” “These ‘veterans’ took the time to teach and give advice to us youngsters, as if ‘passing the torch.’" Loomis also got help and advice from others including Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Albert Collins.

Tommy Marth was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was the middle of three children to Las Vegas singer Diane Eddington and father Thomas Christian Marth Sr., who met Marth's mother while playing stringed instruments throughout Las Vegas in the early 1960s. Tom Sr. taught Marth how to play the drums when he was 4, according to Marth who said in an interview, "When I saw that he liked the thought of me playing I stopped". It wasn't until Marth heard a cassette tape of Stan Getz when he decided to play the saxophone. Described by his sister as having a familial bond akin to "The Three Musketeers", Marth had a very close relationship with his musician siblings, who include older brother Ryan Marth and younger sister Melissa Marth, both members of the Las Vegas indie band The Big Friendly Corporation.
Renato Perez Barrio was born in Santos, São Paulo on March 5, 1965, and is of Spanish descent. He learned how to play the drums inspired by one of his greatest idols, Neil Peart, and began his musical career in 1980, subsequently playing in hardcore punk band Last Joker, where he met his future Charlie Brown Jr. bandmate Marcão.Revista Batera For a brief time in 1984 he was a member of Vulcano, taking part in the recording of their demo tape Devil on My Roof. In 1992 he was invited by Chorão to be a member of his band What's Up, which later evolved to become Charlie Brown Jr.. Pelado stayed with the band until 2005, recording six critically acclaimed studio albums, when creative divergences and clashes with Chorão prompted his departure alongside other members Champignon and Marcão.
This episode originally ran 75 minutes and Desi had to get permission to air the show intact cutting into the next show on the network-schedule. Unfortunately,after the initial showing on CBS Prime-Time it subsequently was edited down to fit in the 60 minute version that aired during the summers of 1962-1965 and finally 1967. Little Ricky is used more but is still a minor character. Most feature him playing the drums, coming and going (examples include "The Celebrity Next Door" and, in several, off to school or some other function); he has no friends, unlike the 6th season of I Love Lucy, where a few are noted ("Little Ricky Gets Stage Fright", "Little Ricky Learns to Play the Drums", several of the Connecticut episodes, etc.); and no plot theme centers on him.
Hanson that had been so far influenced by rock and roll in previous years, discovered dance and house music while touring with Death in Vegas. This experience with dance music was to influence his playing style which evolved to become a combination of rock and roll and dance music. In the late nineties Simon Hanson performed live on tours with hard rock and rock and roll bands The Quireboys and The Dogs D'Amour. In 1996 he worked with The Dogs D’Amour frontman Tyla and Spike Gray from the Quireboys with whom he recorded the album Flagrantly Yours, under the name Spike and Tyla's Hot Knives. In 1999 Hanson was called in to play the drums on Rick Wakeman’s concept album Return to the Centre of the Earth, a sequel to the previous Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974).
Certain long-standing rules and rituals govern the construction, handling, playing, and care of the sacred batá: traditionally only non-castrated male deer or goat hide was used--female goats along with bulls, cows, and sheep were considered unsuitable; also only an initiate was considered worthy to touch or play the batá as only they have undergone the full ritual of "receiving Añá" granting them the forces deemed necessary to play the drums. Also, before a ceremony, the drummers would wash themselves in omiero, a cleansing water, pray, and for some time abstain from sex. Also traditionally in Cuba, in Havana the batá are rarely played after sundown, while in Matanzas toque ceremonies often begin at night. This apparent contradiction is not the only one reaching both adherents of Lukumí and others interested in African music, religion and culture.
Modern Drummer magazine was conceived in the basement of Ron and Isabel Spagnardi's home in Nutley, New Jersey, funded only with the family's personal savings. The magazine's initial staff consisted of Leo Spagnardi (Ron's father, who taught him how to play the drums), and Ron and Isabel's daughter, Lori. Although they had no real publication experience or financial backing, the Spagnardis placed ads in local newspapers, in Downbeat, and in Drum World.Mark Small, "Alum Profile - Ron Spagnardi '63", Berklee College of Music (accessed 2014-07-19). "What we didn’t consider when we put the ads in the papers," recalled Isabel in The Drummer, "was that we were innocently breaking the law by advertising a product that didn’t even exist yet!" The ads worked, however, and subscriptions began coming in as the first issue was still being laid out on the Spagnardis’ ping-pong table.
Kelmer and Luis David decided to start playing together again and looked for musicians to fill in the other roles of the band, finding Roboam Dinzey to play the drums, Daniel Alonso to play bass guitar, and Kenneth Rosario to do lead vocals, period in which they started rehearsing the songs Kelmer wrote. Shortly after, Kelmer got back in contact with Ricardo Fiallo, which was eager to be reunited with the band after he heard new original material.
