The Manifestations of God reflect divine attributes, which are creations of God made for the purpose of spiritual enlightenment, onto the physical plane of existence. Corum is a Vadhagh, one of a race of long-lived beings with limited magical abilities dedicated to peaceful pursuits such as art and poetry. A group of "Mabden" (men) led by the savage Earl Glandyth-a-Krae raid the family castle and slaughter everyone with the exception of Corum, who escapes. Arming himself, Corum attacks and kills several of the Mabden before being captured and tortured. After having his left hand cut off and right eye put out, Corum escapes by moving into another plane of existence, becoming invisible to the Mabden.

MOMO Mizrahi is a character that plays a central part in the storyline of Xenosaga, especially during Episode II. Her first name is an acronym for Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus. In the video game and anime, MOMO is a Realian, a class of artificial humans. She also informs him that they must venture into a different plane of existence to find Lord Munn and ask him to close the Ivory Gate, through which the souls of the dead are being stolen.

Upon reaching the downed craft, before the military can respond, the men are attacked by defensive creatures that faintly resembles man-sized scorpions; Jacob is severely injured in the attack. Their ATVs are destroyed by the aliens, and they take refuge in Gayson's compound. Gayson has been awaiting the coming of the creatures for years to be abducted and taken to a "higher plane" of existence, so he turns off the electric fence, letting the creatures in.

It is hinted that Laterre is a futuristic Earth, which serves as a 'higher plane of existence' for Urnud and Tro, and Arbre is itself a 'higher plane' for Laterre and Fthos. Through observation and experiment, Erasmas and his companions determine that the conference has been infiltrated by the aliens and unmask a French-speaking Laterran linguist named Jules Verne Durand.

The race of the Ancients is first mentioned in the Stargate SG-1 season 2 episode "The Fifth Race" as the original builders of the Stargate network and members of the former Alliance of four great races. They were considered humanity's predecessors, originally establishing Earth as their homeworld after they migrated to the Milky Way, and having seeded multiple galaxies to allow life to evolve on uninhabited worlds. At the time that the Stargate franchise takes place, the Ancients have long since "ascended", i.e. they shed their physical bodies and live eternally as pure energy on a higher plane of existence with an increased power and capacity for learning.

After the 2011 storyline "Fear Itself", Brunhilde seemingly defects from the Secret Avengers, embarking in a mission to steal and recover for herself the hammers used by the "Worthy", Cul's servants. She later reveals to have stopped consuming the Apples of Idunn, thus lessening her stamina and resilience and reverting to a mortal form, and as a Valkyrior she is able to seal within herself the hammers. She plans to die after the deed is over, so as to banish the worthy from the human plane of existence for the rest of eternity. At the end of the series, the All Mother (Freyja, Gaea, and Idunn) task her with selecting a new group of Valkyries.

He explains that on Krypton "religion is science" and that Jor-El left their bible, the Book of Rao, on Earth. Zod proclaims that he is after the knowledge in that book, having already gained the Kryptonian powers under the yellow sun from Clark's own blood. In the final episode of that season, "Salvation", it is revealed that the Book of Rao is in fact a key that will transport all Kryptonians on Earth to a "higher plane of existence", implied to be a form of Heaven, but not explained fully.

While it was initially unknown where ghosts go after they are destroyed, hunters generally believed it to be oblivion. However, it is revealed in season 8's "Taxi Driver" that Reapers take the spirit to where they belong once the ghost has been forced from this plane of existence. In season 9's "Captives" and "Stairway to Heaven," the ghost of Prophet Kevin Tran and the Reaper Tessa reveal that the closing of Heaven has trapped all of the ghosts who since died in the Veil. This is rectified when Metatron is defeated and Heaven is reopened as seen in season 10's "Angel Heart" where the recently deceased Amelia Novak is reunited in Heaven with her husband.

Thagyamin is often portrayed as holding a conch shell in one hand, and a yak-tail fly-whisk in the other, and seated or standing atop a three-headed white elephant (similar to the Thai Erawan). He is described as the ruler of the deva plane of existence, called Trāyastriṃśa (). He was designated the preeminent of the official pantheon of 37 atet nat (အထက်နတ်) by King Anawrahta in the 11th century, in an effort to streamline animist practices among the populace and merge these practices with Theravada Buddhism. He is the only nat in the official pantheon not to have undergone a sudden and violent death, called a "green" or "raw" death (စိမ်းသေ).

Not long thereafter, Cthulhu's uncle, Hastur, suggests that they and "the boys" (fellow nameless, nightmarish horrors from the Cthulhu Mythos) go out, explore the cosmos, and have some fun. After a long argument, a plane of existence is decided upon. After a short stint in Carcosa, Cthulhu is directed by The King in Yellow towards Earth in his search for a patch of the cosmos to rule over. Finding Earth to be rich in both swamps and cultists, Cthulhu makes himself comfortable - until the arrival of the Old Ones ("Banal little bureaucruds") enforcing some kind of cosmic law, which requires Cthulhu and his followers to leave the seas and move onto land.

Tug and Verityn then come across a 100,000-year-old Atlantean named Aristophanes, a legend they had heard stories about as children. The group also feels the loss of Gammid to the Negation Universe via 'transition' portal which was meant to lead him and the remaining humans found in Australia to a "higher plane of existence" but instead takes them to the Negation Universe. They meet a couple of 'cowboys' who aren't who they appear to be during one of Danik's tests and Terra Cognito feature considerably giving information on Earth and the state of the local galaxy. The twins relationship is explored throughout, detailing their rivalry and their relationship with Zephyre.

As explained in the series' backstory, the Goa'uld had transported human slaves from Earth to other habitable planets across the galaxy thousands of years ago and now pose as gods of old Earth mythologies, particularly Ancient Egypt. SG-1 eventually learns that highly evolved human-like beings, known as the Ancients, had originally built the Stargate network millions of years earlier, before ascending to a higher plane of existence, after which they pledged not to interfere in the lives of other species. The Ori, a faction of the same race as the Ancients who instead use their powers to subjugate other species by religious indoctrination, assume the role of the main antagonists in Season 9 and Season 10.

Examples of lesser dragons include dragon turtles and wyverns. Other creatures with the dragon type include drakes, felldrakes, elemental drakes, landwyrms, linnorms and wurms. (An unrelated creature called a dragonne is named for its coincidental resemblance to a brass dragon.) However, with D&D; 4th edition, the classifications were changed: chromatic dragons became not strictly evil, and metallic dragons became not necessarily good. Also, there are several new categories (although the gem dragons have not yet returned): "planar dragons" which are defined as dragons that were warped by living on a plane of existence other than the Material Plane, "catastrophe dragons", which take on the aspects of natural disasters which are chaotic evil and cause chaos for its own sake, and "scourge dragons".

In physical form, the Swamp Thing is a chlorokinetic-transmorphic elemental entity; an Avatar of "The Green" (the plane of existence for the hive-mind and life force of all plant life on Earth). The Swamp Thing can inhabit and animate vegetable matter anywhere, including alien plants, even sentient ones, and construct it into a body for himself. As a result, bodily attacks mean little to him, he can easily regrow damaged or severed body parts, and can even transport himself across the globe by leaving his current form, transferring his consciousness to a new form grown from whatever vegetable matter is present in the location that he wishes to reach. He even grew himself a form out of John Constantine's meager tobacco supply on one occasion.

Although it is caused by a gypsy curse (later revealed by Llewellyn to be a myth) which has passed on through Ozy's adoptive father's heritage largely unnoticed, it does affect Ozy badly since he is the first Llewellyn with any hair to lose. Ozy is also quiet and serene, usually playing the "straight person". Under Llewellyn's guidance, Ozy also practices Zen; or rather a humorous version of it. Ozy is told by Llewellyn that his birth mother's name was Shelley and that she disappeared after discovering perfection when she created the "perfect" ice cream flavor, but since absolute perfection is incompatible with the world, she ascended to a higher plane of existence (Noting that Llewellyn also told him she was an ice cream machine).

Following the term coined by the philosophers Tillich and Zimmer, Buddhism can be regarded as a transtheistic religion. This can be evident by the transcendence of the state of Nibbana (Nirvana) that surpasses all the realms of existence, including the planes of devas and brahmas who are considered gods in Buddhist cosmology. The historical Buddha made it clear that the path to enlightenment does not depend on a god or gods. Although there is acknowledgment of a multitude of gods in the oldest Buddhist scriptures, there is also reference to Maha Brahma, who considered himself to be the all-powerful all-creator god, only to be critiqued by the Buddha as having wrongly perceived his plane of existence as the highest.

Layne speculated that, rather than representing advanced military or extraterrestrial technology, flying saucers were piloted by beings from a parallel dimension, which he called Etheria, and their "ether ships" were usually invisible but could be seen when their atomic motion became slow enough. He further claimed that Etherians could become stranded on the terrestrial plane when their ether ships malfunctioned, and that various governments were aware of these incidents and had investigated them. Furthermore, Layne argued that Etherians and their ether ships inspired much of earth's mythology and religion, but that they were truly mortal beings despite having a high level of technological and spiritual advancement. He claimed that their motive in coming to the terrestrial plane of existence was to reveal their accumulated wisdom to humanity.

The is a mysterious creature whose pelt is used as a material for making hairs of Madō Brushes, while it itself is the only creature that can restore a brush's fading power, though hunting down the Spirit Beast without permission is strictly forbidden. The Spirit Beast can usually only seen by extremely rare chance, and perception of its appearance differ from one person to another. Those who seek the Spirit Beast intentionally must possess a ceremonial blade and travel through a certain path in a certain manner, and remain untainted by evil qi along the way. The Spirit Beast exists in a different plane of existence, as such, a final ritual of synchronizing one's space-time with that of the Spirit Beast's is needed.

Attacking his keep, the champions defeat him and the Broken Crown surrender. As the champions and Anterians celebrate, however, they learn that Daark was secretly using the Dune Tribe, Frostbeards, and Broken Legion to distract the champions so they wouldn't notice him manoeuvring his Daark Cult towards his ultimate goal - to end all life; revenge for his banishment from this plane of existence centuries earlier. The champions storm Daark's fortress, but he transports them into the Unliving Dimension where he reveals his true form - a powerful dragon. Nevertheless, the champions are able to defeat him, and back in this reality, just as the Daark Cult gain the upper hand against Fidelus's army, Daark's defeat causes his followers to turn to ash, thus liberating the kingdom.

Fourteen years later, when Acnologia arrives at the battle between Fairy Tail and Tartaros, Igneel is revealed to have magically sealed himself inside Natsu's body all along, as are the other dragons with their respective children, for the triple purpose of preventing them from turning into dragons as a side effect of their Dragon Slayer Magic, waiting to personally eliminate Acnologia after the Dragon Slayers are fully inoculated, and prolonging their own lives since they have lost their souls to Acnologia. However, Igneel is brutally killed by Acnologia and ascends back to a higher plane of existence with his fellow dragons to watch over mankind. He also passes down the "Fire Dragon King Mode" to Natsu Dragneel after his death.

Via Its chief minions – Terror Dogs Zuul The Gatekeeper and Vinz Clortho The Keymaster, Gozer can escape to other realities. Upon entering a given dimension – as a profane form of granting a last request, Gozer demands of those who witness its arrival to "CHOOSE THE FORM OF THE DESTRUCTOR," a physical avatar It will manifest as to destroy that plane of existence.

Promethea was a young girl whose father was killed by a Christian mob in Alexandria in 411 AD. After escaping the mob, alone in the desert she is taken in hand by the god Thoth-Hermes, who tells her that if she goes with him/them into the Immateria, a plane of existence home to the imagination, she will no longer be just a little girl but a story living eternally. "Promethea" thereafter manifests through a series of individuals or vessels who have channeled her energy through the power of imagination. Since the incident with the little girl in Alexandria, there have been eight known Promethea vessels. Six are characters in the story, the other two are told as two individuals, one Christian and one Muslim, who lived during the Crusades and fought each other.

The Strangers are a race of supernatural creatures from another plane of existence that allied with the original Godking of Khalidor Roygaris Ursuul, giving him access to the Vir magic and serving, reluctantly, as the armies of his successors in the event they were summoned, assuming the Godking in question could control them. They are believed to be the Nephilim, fallen angels or the spirits of their offspring. Like Khali, they manifest by inhabiting the corpses of human sacrifices, though unlike her they have an intense, murderous hatred for the living, to the point where they would always kill prisoners even if told beforehand that their lives would be forfeit if they did, regardless of age or gender- though they killed children faster. They also eat human flesh and gain strength from that.

On the antimatter Earth, Power Ring is Joseph Harrolds (corresponding to Hal Jordan). On this Earth, the power ring is powered by an entity called Volthoom. A second Power Ring (corresponding to Kyle Rayner), a blond man whose name was not given, was given the ring by Harrolds and joined the Syndicate; however, when the antimatter universe was reconstructed after Krona had initially wiped out that plane of existence when trying to discover the origin of the Universe, certain elements of the antimatter universe's history had been changed, and now the second Power Ring was a black man whose name was also not given (corresponding to John Stewart). He confirmed that Harrolds tricked him into assuming responsibility of the ring, which was cursed as Volthoom was also inside the ring.

Secret first appeared in a one- shot comic, part of the Girlfrenzy fifth week event, by Todd Dezago and Todd Nauck called Young Justice: The Secret, in which Robin, Impulse, and Superboy helped her to escape from the DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) agents who were holding her against her will. Secret was incorporeal, able to take on a variety of appearances, and is referred to as "the mist girl" or "the bottle girl" by the various agents who pursue her throughout the run of Young Justice. Eventually, her origin was revealed: Secret was once an ordinary girl named Greta, whose adoptive brother Billy killed her as part of his plan to become the supervillain Harm. Because of the manner of her death, Greta remained stuck on this plane of existence, a gateway between the living and the dead.

To the jurors who voted to acquit him, Socrates gives encouragement: his supernatural daimonion did not interfere with his conduct of the legal defence, which he viewed as a sign that such a defence was the correct action. In that way, the daimonion communicated to Socrates that death might be a good thing; either death is annihilation (release from earthly worry) and not to be feared, or death is migration to a higher plane of existence in which reside the souls of personages and heroes, such as Hesiod and Homer and Odysseus. Socrates concludes his self-defence by saying to the court that he bears no ill-will, neither towards his accusers — Lycon, Anytus, and Meletus — nor the jurors.

Alric do Rei, as stated by Lord Keran, is largely like Ruannon and therefore can be his true successor and ultimately the person ending the menace of the Fallen race. Ruannon, in his lifetime, fought the Fallen several times and uncovered much of their dark plans. He defeated the Two Fathers of the Fallen and sealed them away in the Chamber of Screams. He discovered the true nature of the Heart of the Void, a stone which the Fallen can use to melt the world, in which the stone resides, into their own dark plane of existence and crafted the Three Seals, which prevent the Stone from working and as a last line of defense constructed, using mostly only his vast amounts of magical power, the Obsidian Tower and founded the Council of Mages to guard the Stone and the Order of Ruannon to watch over the Seals and the Chamber of Screams.

Their view of the future is one of scientific perfection and purity: they believe that the Vanu used the power of their advanced technologies to transcend their physical limitations and the mundane world, ascending to a superior state of being, and ultimately, a higher plane of existence. Scientists and intellectuals through-and-through, they see this path as an enlightened ascension and hold the Ancients up as a shining example for mankind to follow. Hopefully and eagerly they envision humanity imitating this metamorphosis, firstly through the enhancement of the human condition via "hypertech" (foreseeable technological breakthroughs which have not yet quite arrived), and eventually, by the replacement of human beings altogether; from there, not even they can imagine yet. They are most reliant on alien science and technology, and often more than compensate for their shortcomings through the superiority of their engineering, using mind-bending physics, high-energy arrays, and other exotic weaponry to defend themselves.

When the Spectre was revived in Showcase #60, January–February 1966, Jim Corrigan played an important part, as editor Julius Schwartz and writer Gardner Fox made significant use of the resurrection of Corrigan's body depicted back in More Fun #75. While the Ghostly Guardian crossed from one mystical plane of existence to another fighting occult menaces, Corrigan, now a captain of Gateway City's police force, was fighting his own battles against a more mundane criminal element. However, Jim often got involved in Spectre's conflicts. In that first story, another spirit, named Azmodus, took possession of a small-time criminal, and while the two astral beings engaged in cosmic combat, the two mortal men slugged it out.. In Showcase #64, September–October 1966, when the Spectre took possession of the body of a dying man, Ace Chance, to preserve its spark of life after his soul had departed, that spirit found the living but soulless Corrigan and entered him.

Because no one will forgive his sins, he declines Fei's offer to return and ascends to a higher plane of existence along with the Wave Existence, telling Fei and Elly that he envies them. Fei and Elly then return to their planet along with Xenogears and reunite with the rest of the party.

The End's seeming goal is to destroy the world, and considers the fight against S.E.A.L.E.D. to be a bizarre game. Alongside Sho, the other, all young adult members of S.E.A.L.E.D. are: Mana Kawai, a woman with psychically- enhanced hand-to-hand combat skills; Marco Barbato, a gunman with psychic powers; Yoko Tachibana, a girl with the gift of telepathy; Zenji Maeda, who can resonate and copy the powers of others; Toya Orbert, a firearms wielder who also sports magnetic powers; Himeno Akatsuki, a pyrokinetic; George Jackman, a swordsman who has psychometric powers; Sojiro Sagara, an ex-doctor who can heal and restore other teammates; Nagi Shishiouka, a gun-user with large mobility that can also levitate; and Agito Yuuki, a knife wielder with agility and the power to teleport. As the members of S.E.A.L.E.D arrive at the base of the pillar, The End tampers with their memories; they can't recall how they got there, or much of their younger pasts. The party learns that the Pillar is a place that connects between dimensions; The End claims to be from a different plane of existence.
