Restoration of the skull of P. kevani P. kevani is known solely from the holotype DORCM G.13,675, a nearly complete long skull and mandible housed at Dorset County Museum, Dorchester, England. The specimen was collected at Wyke Siltstone bed of Osmington Bay, from the Rasenia cymodoce ammonite zone, Kimmeridge Clay Formation of the Ancholme Group, dating to the early Kimmeridgian. DORCM G.13,675 was collected over a period of eight years as pieces up to in mass weathered out of the sea-cliff of Black Head. Most pieces were collected from loose or fallen blocks without any permits required, while other parts were collected in situ and purchased from land owners.

The division fought during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, and prior to the battle, had successfully hauled 200 dismantled artillery pieces up the hills to the east of Dien Bien Phu's valley and established well-hidden fortified positions overlooking the French fortress and outlying small garrisons from there (the Viet Minh placed their heavy artillery to the east of the French positions, while their mortars were mainly sited opposite, to the west). The 105mm howitzers were divided into two sections, one positioned north-east of French strongpoint Beatrice and the other in the north of the valley, with each gun having 217 men allocated to it, of whom 118 were porters. In September 1954, the division was bolstered with a newly established 63rd Artillery Regiment and 67th Artillery Regiment.
