Rhythm acoustic guitar player Andy Fairweather Low was invited by Clapton to his flat in Chelsea, London to work out the songs to be recorded for the Unplugged album in January 1992. During the process, Clapton suggested that it would be a good idea to do another version of "Layla". Fairweather Low agreed because he had wanted to release one himself as a big Derek and the Dominos fan. Clapton thought that the perfect arrangement for the rock anthem would be a shuffle because he always liked changing the tempo of a song and looking at something from a different angle.

AbsolutePunk reviewer Steve Henderson gave the album 87%, saying "the record is a stunning achievement." He described the songs "Blur" and "Introspect" as "a gorgeous pair of compositions that take a more patient approach, and the results are stunning, especially on the latter, where Stephen’s vocals ebb and flow effortlessly on top of a pitch-perfect arrangement." Henderson also complimented Christian's vocals throughout, which he says "work well with the anthem-minded Anberlin, they seem just as fitting on these minimalist charmers.

The second were eight-track demos recorded at Southcombe Studios in Burbank, California during late April and early May 1978. It was in recording these demos that the band worked out the backing track arrangements for all the songs (with the exception of "Take the Long Way Home") and determined the order in which they would appear on the album. In order to avoid spending a lot of time on mixing, the band and their production team devoted a week to experimenting with different sound setups until they found the perfect arrangement. The effort proved to be wasted, as the engineering team would end up spending more than two extremely stressful months searching for the right mix, and were only finished after that length of time because the deadline had arrived, not because they felt at all satisfied with the results.

In 1795, under the patronage of the Lord Lieutenant and magistrates of the county, Boswell published The Civil Division of the County of Dorset, concerning the civil administration of his home county. The book was revised and enlarged for the second edition of the work, published in 1833. His obituary spoke highly of the work, "whether as a book of reference, or as one of general in formation connected with the whole civil administration of the county, it is impossible to speak in too high terms of commendation; and the methodical and perfect arrangement of its details, and the quantity and variety of its contents, prove the persevering nature of his character, and the possession of no ordinary genius." Two centuries later, in Boswell's biographical sketch for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biographer, historian Jonathan Harris referred to the work as the "standard account of the civil administration of the county".
