Formal interior with timber pelmets from which the curtains and swags are hung External decorative pelmets fitted within a brick and stone window opening A pelmet (also called a "cornice board") is a framework placed above a window, used to conceal curtain fixtures. These can be used decoratively (to hide the curtain rod) and help insulate the window by preventing convection currents. It is similar in appearance to a valance, which performs the same function but is made of fabric. A pelmet can be made of plywood, and may be painted, or fabric covered.

Exterior timber pelmets are a feature of some historic buildings, fitted on the outside of a window. These may be plain or decorative, with complex fretwork in some examples. These may be purely decorative, or serve to conceal an external blind mechanism. Due to the appearance of a pelmet, the term is often used to describe an extremely short skirt.

The main curved acoustic ceiling has an elaborate plaster pseudo latticework decoration reminiscent of the theatre ceilings of the early 1920s. On the lower curve above the walls this breaks into bands of different styles of plasterwork in vertical panels with the higher panels in a pink colour. Plasterwork extends over and incorporates air vents on the sidewalls. The cinema's original pelmet drapes in deep crimson and outlined in gold brocade are still in position.

A variety of lighting effects could be achieved using these different circuits and the coloured globes. A pelmet which concealed recessed lighting covered the intersection between ceiling and wall and turquoise woollen drapes fell to meet the carpet which came about one metre up the wall. The original carpet with an op-art, circular dot pattern of blue and brown was used throughout the cinema. The curve of the vault frames the screen which has several layers of turquoise wool drapes forming the curtain and surrounds.

In 1975 he appeared as Vincent Vaughn in an episode of the hard hitting police drama The Sweeney entitled "Stay Lucky, Eh?" This was followed in 1978 when appeared in the second of the big screen spin offs Sweeney 2 as Hill, the leader of an uncompromising gang of armed robbers. In 1980, he appeared as Brickett in the episode "National Pelmet", the series 2 opener of the TV drama Minder. He played a supporting role in the 1981 historical miniseries Masada, starring Peter O'Toole.

The lower foyer was extensive, with interior finishes of dark brown brick and horizontal timber panelling stained dark brown; the ceiling was also lined with the same dark timber. This theme is continued through to rubbish bins, ashtrays and display units which are made of the same timber with strong horizontal design elements and aluminium details. Boxed, timber pelmet lighting ran along the walls throughout both the upper and lower foyers and the stairs. The foyer space was arranged symmetrically with staircases of identical detailing on either side of the centrally located ticket office.

In 1980 she appeared as Rita in National Pelmet, series two opening episode of critically acclaimed drama Minder (UK, 1979–1994). She had a featured part as "Louise" in the US version of TV series Dear John (1988–92). In 1994, she played the quotable Timov (vomit spelled backwards), daughter of Al-ghul (Arabic: الغول, the ghoul), one of the three wives of Londo Mollari in the episode "Soul Mates" on US TV series Babylon 5. She continues to play occasional roles on television, including Fran Metzgar in Curb Your Enthusiasm (US, 2000), besides her voice work.

Between the capitals the bays were decorated with a frieze of festoons and paterae, and below these were oblong panels with relief subjects. In Cruikshank's time the windows were furnished with elegant scrolled pelmet-heads of gilt wood supporting swagged draperies, and Rococo looking-glasses filled some of the wall panels. He shows the orchestra playing in a balcony with a gilt trellised railing, but in a position it can hardly have occupied, and two-tiered crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. In the Old and New London view, these have been replaced by huge lustres of cut glass, hanging from a flat ceiling with a shallow segmental cove, the general form of which was probably original.

The design is accentuated through the use of dark wood inlay and a diamond shape in the centre is picked out in glass or mirror. Although 1920s in inspiration, it is characteristic of the 1950s fashion for reviving the Deco aesthetic that had been unwillingly abandoned with the onset of WWII. The foyer leads directly into the ballroom, a large auditorium with a shallow barrel-vaulted ceiling, complete with raised viewing dais, stage, proscenium, fixed banquettes and a sprung maple dance floor. The decorative scheme is kitsch and flamboyant, the effect created through red velour padded walls with gilt picture-frame style panels and decorated pilasters, scallop-shaped lights, a red velour pelmet, French chandeliers and Chinese lanterns.

Isaac Oliver died in 1617, and around the same time Gheeraerts' position at court began to decline as the result of competition from a new generation of immigrants.

One of Norton's earlier UK television roles was as the timid Gardener in the first series of the long-running CITV children's series T-Bag: "Wonders in Letterland" (1985). As well as Bishop Brennan in Father Ted, Norton also played: Albert Einstein in two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation; the librarian Lieutenant James Porteous in the highly acclaimed 1970s British television drama series Colditz; Phil Harrister, a criminal involved in an intricate bank robbery, in The Sweeney episode "Contact Breaker"; O'Brady in the Minder episode "National Pelmet"; and Rory, a roguish but genteel Irishman who is diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, in The Royal episode "Beggars and Choosers". Norton has appeared in two episodes of Van der Valk. On Babylon 5 he appeared in a number of roles, including that of Ombuds Wellington in the 1994 episodes "Grail" and "The Quality of Mercy"; a Narn in "Dust to Dust" (1996); and Dr. Lazarenn, a Markab doctor, in "Confessions and Lamentations" (1995).
