As first reported by Bloomberg, this case follows a series of scandals around the CEO's online behavior, ranging from a defamation suit filed by a cave diver after Musk referred to him as a "pedo guy" on Twitter, to tweeting that he had secured funding to take the company private at a $420 share price.

Hueston is already representing Musk in two other lawsuits, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the switch: a defamation suit brought by British rescue diver Vernon Unsworth, who Musk called a "pedo guy" in a tweet, and a lawsuit involving a former employee who Tesla claims sought to sabotage the company after he was fired.

In February 2017 he linked to a tweet from Nehlen, now unavailable because Nehlen has been banned from Twitter, asking what Paul Ryan should do with "$25k of Hastert's dirty #Pedo money," a reference to former GOP House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who has admitted to sexually abusing boys as a high school wrestling coach.

The whole "pedo guy" episode began over the summer after Musk and employees at his companies, SpaceX, Tesla, and The Boring Company, became involved in an effort to extract 12 boys and their soccer coach from the Tham Luang Nang Non cave system located in Northern Thailand after flooding trapped the group for weeks.

A motion to dismiss the case was filed Wednesday to the U.S. District Court in California's Central District where Vernon Unsworth, a UK citizen, filed a complaint in September alleging Musk used defamatory language when Musk tweeted Unsworth was a "pedo guy," then later sent an email to a BuzzFeed reporter accusing the diver of being involved in child sex trafficking.
