The song was later featured in the documentary series The History of America, presented by Ted Koppel. Korda's keyboard player David Kaffinetti and drummer R.J. Parnell were chosen as band members for Rob Reiner's cult classic This Is Spinal Tap, which led to Korda making a brief appearance as a rockstar/partygoer in the film. In the early 1980s, Korda opened the Central Jam Night, during which musicians such as Phil Collins and Mitch Mitchell joined him onstage.

The film opens during a night-time thunderstorm when a frightened, confused and disheveled young woman runs down a country road and is picked up by a trucker. The film then shows through flashbacks how the young woman came to be in such a situation. While at a gathering in a London art gallery, naive French model Anne-Marie DeVernet (Penny Irving) is shocked to see that her photographer boyfriend is exhibiting a recently-shot photo where she is seen being arrested by the police for public nudity. Humiliated, Anne-Marie dumps the photographer but soon finds solace in enigmatic fellow partygoer Mark E. DeSade (Robert Tayman), who offers to take her to his isolated country estate to escape the scandal her now ex-boyfriend has caused her.

Kiss Hollywood Good-by (1974) was a Hollywood memoir about her MGM years and would be very successful, while her book, The Talmadge Girls (1978) is about the actress sisters Constance Talmadge and Norma Talmadge specifically. Loos would become a virtual New York institution, an assiduous partygoer and diner- out; conspicuous at fashion shows, theatrical and movie events, balls and galas. A celebrity anecdotalist, she was also never one to let facts spoil a good story: > With each book came a new spate of interviews and as one of the last > survivors of the silent era, Anita's stories became more exaggerated and she > was soon reported to have sold her first scenario at the age of 12. Yorke, Into the Music, pp. 60–61 An earlier recording with slightly altered lyrics and a much swifter tempo changes the tone considerably from the Astral Weeks recording, which is downbeat and nostalgic; the earlier recording is joyous, and seems to be from the point of view of a partygoer who sees the titular character. This version surfaced on the 1973 release T.B. Sheets, which compiled unreleased recordings Morrison had made for Bang Records in 1967. This song contains a number of references to places and events in Van Morrison's native Belfast: Cyprus Avenue (also the title of another song on Astral Weeks) is a tree lined, up- market residential street in east Belfast; "throwing pennies at the bridges down below" was a practice of Northern Irish Unionists as they travelled on the train from Dublin to Belfast where the train crossed the River Boyne (site of the Battle of the Boyne, 1690); the train from Dublin arrived in Belfast at one end of Sandy Row, a working class staunchly Unionist/Protestant street and neighbourhood.
