Andy Runton is the creator of the graphic novel series Owly, first published in 2005 by Top Shelf. Before he worked on Owly he was a graphic designer. His artwork is a reflection of his affection for wildlife. Andy currently resides in Atlanta, GA. In 2005, Runton won the Ignatz Award for Promising New Talent.

A computer-animated short featuring Owly and Wormy was produced by Sprite Animation Studios, and premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2009. The short was story boarded by Runton himself, and directed by Moto Sakakibara. Runton contributed a story featuring Owly and Wormy for the 25th issue of Valiant Comics' X-O Manowar in May 2014.

Andy Bobrow is an American television writer and producer known for his work on Community. He was previously a writer for Malcolm in the Middle and created a mockumentary called The Old Negro Space Program. He currently voices Owly on the Love Me Cat Show.

Mousy Pierieliepiepielo is a Dutch puppet character, created by Jeroen de Leijer and Frans van der Meer. ("Muisje" means "little mouse" in Dutch.) Mousy Pierieliepiepielo was first seen in 2001 in the popular program Zap! on Omroep Brabant. The regular characters of the show all have rather difficult names: mousy Pierieliepiepielo, mousy Poerieliepoepielie, doggy Waffielieblaffielie, Owly Oerielieboerielie and squirrely Flieflafloflapperierario.

The series, which is largely without standard text dialogue making it a pantomime comic, is about the adventures of a gentle owl named Owly who resolves to do good and make friends in his world with the help of his good companions, the clever worm, Wormy, and Scampy, the gluttonous but good hearted chipmunk. While he faces obstacles in the pursuit of that goal, his faith in the goodness in the world is never disappointed.

Korgi is a 2007 American children's graphic novel series written and illustrated by former Disney animator Christian Slade and published by Top Shelf Productions. It is set in a fantasy world in which "Mollies" (fairy-like beings) bear close relationships with their pet Korgis.The series focuses on a young Mollie, Ivy, and her Korgi cub, Sprout, and their adventures in and around Korgi Hollow. It is similar to Owly, another graphic novel published by Top Shelf Productions, in the absence of dialogue.

Voiced by Jarrad Wright Sassy the Sasquatch is an anthropomorphic sasquatch, Lez's friend and next-door-neighbour. An extreme drug user, Sassy is in a near-perpetual state of intoxication and is rarely seen in the show without some form of drug in his hand. Despite this, Sassy often falsely denies his drug use, ironically referring to other characters as "druggos". Sassy lives in a run-down wooden shack next door to Lez along with four of his friends, Donny, Wayne-O, Scruffy and Owly.

Another old name is Cuan Umaill ("harbour of Umhaill"), which was rendered in English as "Bay of the Owly", and then "Bay of the Owles." The English names Bay of Borace, Horrus, Baragh and Boruce are all recorded, all references to Burrishoole (Buiríos Umhaill). The name Clew Bay, of uncertain origin, first appears in a 1714 map; it may be derived from cliath, "hurdle". Clew Bay was the focus of the O'Malley family possessions in the Middle Ages, and is associated especially with Grace O'Malley or Granuaile.
