Coleman House is a historic home located at Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware. It dates to about 1815, and consists of a 2-story, three bay, frame main section with 1 1/2-story, frame wing. Both sections are sheathed in cypress and have gable roofs. It is an outstanding example of the early-19th-century rural architecture once common in the Lewes area.
Moncton High School (MHS) was the oldest high school and current heritage property in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The Abbey Library of Saint Gall () is a significant medieval monastic library located in St. Gallen, Switzerland. In 1983, the library, as well as the Abbey of St. Gall, were designated a World Heritage Site, as “an outstanding example of a large Carolingian monastery and was, since the 8th century until its secularisation in 1805, one of the most important cultural centres in Europe”.
Isn't Anyone Alive?, in Japanese is a 2012 Japanese film directed by Gakuryū Ishii (credited in his previous films as Sōgo Ishii). It features an ensemble cast including Shota Sometani and is based on the play of the same name by Shiro Maeda. Playwright Shoji Kokami has referred to the story as an outstanding example of the study of dying in the Theatre of the Absurd.

In 1949, Brodovitch collaborated in the production of the revolutionary publication Portfolio. It has been widely acknowledged as perhaps the definitive graphic design magazine of the twentieth century. The idea for the publication came from art director Frank Zachary. The Cabaniss-Hanberry House, about three miles northeast of Bradley, Georgia, was built by George Cabaniss 1805. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was deemed notable as "an outstanding example of early rural Georgia architecture" and for its age. The Norfolk Library, also known as Eldridge Memorial Library, is a library at 9 Greenwoods Road East in Norfolk, Connecticut. The Norfolk Library is a private charitable organization, but the facility is open to the general public. Designed by architect George Keller in 1888, and greatly expanded by Keller in 1911, it is an outstanding example of Shingle Style architecture. The building is a contributing property in the Norfolk Historic District.
Lorentz National Park is a national park located in Papua, Indonesia, in the southwest of western New Guinea. With an area of 25,056 km2 (9,674 mi2), it is the largest national park in southeast Asia. In 1999 Lorentz was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. An outstanding example of the biodiversity of New Guinea, Lorentz is one of the most ecologically diverse national parks in the world.
The John Rountree Log House is a saddlebag log house near Twin City in Emanuel County, Georgia, which was built in c.1830. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It was deemed to be an outstanding example of a saddlebag log construction. Diamond notching of the logs was employed in the construction, which was rare, relative to half-dovetail notching, in Georgia.

Sunny Gables Alumni House Built by Mary and Julia Nix in 1925, Sunny Gables Alumni House is an outstanding example of early 20th century Tudor Revival architecture. Designed by P. Thornton Marye, it is now part of the National Register of Historic Places' Vernon Road Historic District. This multipurpose facility serves as the permanent home for alumni. The facility extends entertainment space to the college's constituents for specific programming purposes.
Litomyšl Castle is one of the largest Renaissance castles in the Czech Republic. It is owned by the Czech state. It is located in the centre the town of Litomyšl and was declared a UNESCO Site in 1999. Litomyšl Castle is an outstanding example of the arcade castle, a type of building first developed in Italy and modified in the Czech lands to create an evolved form of special architectural quality.
Museum interior The Iron Building is a historic building at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York. It housed the Watervliet Arsenal Museum until it was closed in fall 2013 for security reasons. The Iron Building was built in 1859 and is "an outstanding example" of pre-fabricated cast iron construction. It is also the only building at the Arsenal to have a strong degree of Italianate styling.
The Paoay Church, also known as the Church of San Agustín, is located in Paoay, Ilocos Norte. It is the most outstanding example in the Philippines of an Earthquake Baroque style architecture. Fourteen buttresses are ranged along the lines of a giant volute supporting a smaller one and surmounted by pyramidal finials. A pair of buttresses at the midpoint of each nave wall have stairways for access to the roof.

The site has been recognised by UNESCO in 1983 under criteria (iv), "as an outstanding example of an architectural ensemble which illustrates a significant stage in human history", of which the Sixty Dome Mosque with actually 60 pillars and 77 domes, is the most well known. The mosques feature terracotta artwork and arabesque.

Tamborazo Zacatecano ("drum-beat from Zacatecas") is a banda style traditionally played by two trumpets, two saxophones, and the al bass drum. An outstanding example is La Marcha de Zacatecas (The March of Zacatecas) by Genaro Codina Fernández, the anthem of the State of Zacatecas and considered the second national anthem of Mexico. Tamborazo is closely related to traditional brass Banda. However, Tamborazo uses saxophones instead of clarinets.

The Eddy County Courthouse in New Rockford, North Dakota was built during 1899–1900. Designed by M.E. Beebe, the building is architecturally significant as "an outstanding example to the community of monumental public architecture". The battery was dismantled and the equipment disposed of for scrap in 1963. The battery site was added to the Western Australian State Register of Heritage Places in August 1999 and was awarded an Engineering Heritage National Marker in November 2014. While some above-ground installations have been restored, the underground installations consisting of underground tunnels, rooms, observation post and semi-buried command post are considered an outstanding example of technical achievement.
A panoramic view of the Aliyar Reservoir This project consists of a series of dams interconnected by tunnels and canals for harnessing the waters of the Parambikulam, Aliyar, Sholiyar, Thunakadavu, Thekkadi and Palar rivers, flowing at various elevations, for irrigation and power generation. The scheme is an outstanding example of engineering skill. At present, the discharges are being let down through three sets of sluices/ canals, viz., Pollachi Canal, Vettaikaranpudur Canal and the river sluices.
It is also the northernmost significant peatland known in New South Wales. The dominant lepyrodia anarthria open rushland community is the richest and most extensive community of this type known in Australia. The swamp also provides an outstanding example of vegetation dynamics as well as providing some of the best known stands of the swamp vegetation types represented. Wingecarribee Swamp has the oldest basal date of any montane mire known in Australia.
Kingston Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Conway in Horry County, South Carolina. The sanctuary was built in 1858 and is an outstanding example of antebellum Greek Revival ecclesiastical design. The three-bay façade features a portico set on square columns with recessed panels and square pilasters. It was originally sheathed with weatherboard, but was covered in stucco in 1930 when a stuccoed brick addition was added to the rear.
450 Swan Street, completed in 1995, combines an old bank and modern building in outstanding example of deconstructivist architecture, by Ashton Raggart McDougall. Richmond Town Hall is a landmark building currently operated by the City of Yarra, which was built in the 1880s and redecorated during the interwar years. Hotels include The Mountain View Hotel, Corner Hotel, Great Britain Hotel, The Rising Sun and The Swan (1890) and many others known for their live music.
Like other buildings of its kind on University campuses, some have criticised it as unimaginative, boxy and out of place. Others, however, have hailed it as an outstanding example for the period. The other buildings of Leckhampton are late-nineteenth-century houses in the adjacent streets which have been bought by the college over the years and linked to the main buildings and gardens, and a new building opened in September 2012.
China Grove is a historic house located in Gardner, Louisiana. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 1984. The house is considered to be an outstanding example of neo-classical and Greek Revival architecture; its Greek Revival woodwork in particular stands out among houses in the region. It was listed as one result of a study of 10 Neo-Classical farm-plantation houses along Bayou Rapides.
Hong Kong Park was officially opened on 23 May 1991 by Sir David Wilson, the Governor of Hong Kong at that time. It covers an area of 8 hectares and is an outstanding example of modern design and facilities blending with the natural landscape. Gilson Farm is an outstanding example of a vernacular constructed farmstead for the late 19th Century.The Gilson Barn is significant as one of the largest and most elaborate barns in Porter County, and as a representation of the work of Clinton D. Gilson, the original owner and builder. The barn took a year to build. It was constructed in sections and lifted into position by a pulley system pulled by a steam engine.

The Reformed Great Church of Debrecen is an outstanding example of the many Protestant churches that were built in the first half of the 19th century. This was the time of the first iron structures in Hungarian architecture, the most important of which is the Chain Bridge (Budapest) by William Tierney Clark.

By 1934, the church needed to be extended to include an assembly room (currently used as the choir vestry). In 1937 a new altar with oak panelled reredos was added. An organ dating from 1871 by Taylor of Leicester was installed in 1999. A specification of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register. The instrument was removed from the church in 2012 and moved to Holy Trinity, Sutton in Somerset. The blower was not moved with the organ, but was donated to the Leicester Museum service who wished to maintain what was an outstanding example of Taylor's work.

The Hôtel d'Assézat was likely built by Toulouse architect Nicolas Bachelier for Pierre d'Assézat, an internationally renowned Toulouse woad merchant. The construction of the Hôtel began in 1555 and was not yet completed when Pierre d'Assézat died in 1581. It is an outstanding example of Renaissance palaces architecture of southern France, with an elaborate decoration of the cour d'honneur (courtyard) influenced by Italian Mannerism and by classicism. The use of brick is typical of Toulouse.

The House on KY 1492, near Milton, Kentucky, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It was built during 1800 to 1820 and was deemed notable as "an outstanding example of the Federal style style" in Trimble County. It was described in 1982 as a one-and-a-half-story brick house, with brick laid in Flemish bond. Its facade had four bays including a pedimented entrance pavilion.

It is located at Jackson St. and Douglas Trail (which formerly was the Central of Georgia Railroad tracks). In 1982 it was deemed "an outstanding example of the Queen Anne style of architecture" and was asserted to be one of few houses designed in that style in Southeast Georgia.

The north side has an unusual curved wall, and is an outstanding example of the architects’ blending of classical styles.

The South Lake Morton Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on November 20, 1985) located in Lakeland, Florida. It received its designation because it provides an outstanding example of urban planning from the early 20th century, and because of the large number of architecturally significant structures ranging from 1920- 1948. Heritage boundaries Constructed in 1904, Marika is an outstanding example of the Federation style of architecture. As at 22 January 2013, it continues to display fine quality timber craftesmanship and joinery. Reputedly built by a tradesman joiner it exhibits quality construction and detail rarely equalled. It is prominently located on a rise and bend corner site of Ryde Road and covers two large blocks of land with remnants of original garden layout, including mature trees, flower beds and paths.
The main building is an outstanding example of a first class station building. The single storey rendered brick building is Victorian Tudor in style with two gabled wings projecting forward towards the forecourt with stuccoed quoins and a facetted bay window. The gabled bays feature curvilinear shaped parapets with the 1876 construction date prominently displayed on each of the gables, on top of which is a finial. The roof is clad in slate with gablet vents and octagonal coupled chimneys.

The School of San Gregorio has been highlighted as an outstanding example Late Gothic architecture (Isabelline gothic). The John I. Howe House is located north of the commercial downtown of Derby, on the east side of Caroline Street north of 5th Street. It is a 2-1/2 story masonry structure, built with loadbearing granite walls. It has a cruciform plan, with a main block covered by a gabled roof oriented north-south, and gabled projections at the centers of the eastern and western facades. The house is an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture implemented in masonry.

It was also used as a meeting place during the American Revolution, while being the residence of Joseph Christopher, a member of the Richmond County Committee of Safety from 1775-1776. It was moved to Historic Richmond Town the Autumn of 1969 and restored for museum presentation from 1975-1977.
Stone Arabia School, also known now as Stone Arabia Schoolhouse Museum, was built in 1854 in Cicero, New York. It is significant as "an outstanding example of a mid-nineteenth century modest Greek Revival style one-room schoolhouse". and Accompanying 15 photos, exterior and interior, from November, 2006 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. It is operated by a local history group, the Cicero Historical Society, and is open on weekends during the summer.

It was presented to him by Israeli President Yitzhak Navon, in recognition of his unique contribution to Israeli society and the State in the field of sports. Seaford Station Complex is a historic railway station complex and national historic district located at Seaford, Sussex County, Delaware. It includes two contributing buildings and two contributing structures and considered an outstanding example of a turn-of-the-20th century, unaltered, small-town railroad complex in Delaware. They are the Seaford Railroad Station, Seaford Freight Station, the Nanticoke River moveable railroad bridge, and mainline railroad tracks. The Seaford Railroad Station is brick rectangular building with a large bracketed overhang, built about 1905.
Maurice Beresford included Calceby in his "Lost Villages of England".Hill, ibid: Beresford (1954) p57 Calceby Beck & Spring are the source of the Great Eau, and are part of the local network of Chalk Streams. Calceby Marsh has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as "an outstanding example of base-rich marsh". The site consists of three areas of marshland, each differing slightly in species composition and surrounded by grassland of value to breeding snipe and lapwing.
Barrington Hill Meadows () is a 16.1 hectare (39.5 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset, England, notified in 1987. Barrington Hill Meadows, 2 km west of the A358, midway between the villages of Windmill Hill and Bickenhall, is an English Nature national nature reserve. This site comprises four meadows surrounded by well established hedges on gently sloping clay-rich soils. It is an outstanding example of a traditionally managed unimproved neutral grassland of a type now rare in Britain.

This national programme includes giving school children deworming drugs twice a year, as well as group handwashing with soap and brushing teeth daily with fluoride toothpaste as a group activity at set times of the day at the school premises. In 2012 UNICEF described it as an "outstanding example of at scale action to promote children’s health and education".
The structure has an ornate veranda, consisting of cast iron columns, railing, and parapet extending around the perimeter, except for one section at the southeast corner. The Peruvian government considered her educational work to be an outstanding example, and in July 1956, she was awarded the Palmas Magisteriales, the highest award granted to a Peruvian teacher. She died in Lima, 24 February 1959.

The building features linear decorative motifs, curvilinear forms, and bold colorations that appear on the building facade, interior walls of the lobby and auditorium, and in the original light fixtures. The R. H. Beamer House, also known as the Beamer-Schell House, is a historic house located at 19 3rd St. in Woodland, California. Built in 1904, the house was designed in the Italianate style, of which it has been called "an outstanding example". The house's design features a hipped roof with two chimneys, wide eaves, and a denticulated cornice with many brackets. The front entrance is a portico supported by Corinthian columns and pilasters and topped by a balustrade.
One of its products was the caoineadh or traditional lament, a genre dominated by women and typically characterised by improvisation and passion. Countless numbers were composed; one of the few to have survived is Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire. This was mostly composed by a member of the surviving Catholic gentry of Cork, Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill (an aunt of Daniel O’Connell), for her husband Art, killed by a local British official. It is considered to be an outstanding example of the type.

Historic grist mill in Boiling Springs On the east shore, remaining from the pre-revolutionary iron forge complex, are the original forge and the iron master's mansion with the remnants of its terraced gardens. This 1795 Georgian structure is the most outstanding example of architecture in the Boiling Springs Historic District and of major historical significance as the home of the Ege family. The mansion is presently in a deteriorating condition and is uninhabited.

10:30am High Mass at Grace Church in Newark. The church building, designed by Richard Upjohn, who was also the architect of Trinity Church, New York, was consecrated on October 5, 1848. It is widely esteemed as an outstanding example of Gothic Revival architecture in the United States, and was designated a National Historic Landmark for its architecture in 1987. The church was built on the site of the old Essex County Courthouse and Jail which burnt down on August 15, 1835.

Blackwell is a large house in the English Lake District, designed in the Arts and Crafts style by Baillie Scott. It was built 1898–1900, as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, a wealthy Manchester brewer. It is situated near the town of Bowness-on-Windermere with views looking over Windermere and across to the Coniston Fells. Blackwell has survived with almost all its original decorative features intact, and is listed Grade I as an outstanding example of British domestic architecture.
The apron is any parts of the stage that extends past the proscenium arch and into the audience or seating area. The Elizabethan stage, which was a raised platform with the audience on three sides, is an outstanding example. The Elizabethan stage was typically found in public theatres as plays were no longer performed outside. Theatres were simple in structure, mostly circular in form, within was a courtyard open to the sky, surrounded by two or three tiers of covered galleries.

The stone was much used in medieval Bristol: an outstanding example being St Mary Redcliffe, an Anglican church in central Bristol. A large cube of stone (approximately 1.5m each edge) still stands in the churchyard: the cube is much considered to be an early advertisement for Dundry stone. The neighbouring village of Chew Magna has in its graveyard an early 19th-century limestone round-topped stone which bears the inscription to William Fowler "shot by an Highwayman on Dundry Hill 14 June 1814 aged 32 years".

The osiedle Old City () is the oldest historic district of the city of Zamość. It is one of World Heritage Sites in Poland (added in 1992). According to UNESCO, this monument value lies in it being "an outstanding example of a Renaissance planned town of the late 16th century, which retains its original layout and fortifications and many buildings of particular interest, blending Italian and Central European architectural traditions.". The Medieval Town has an area of 75 ha and a buffer zone of 200 ha.
The conservation reserve contains many prehistoric abraded and pecked engravings that provide an outstanding example of central Australian rock art. The main feature of the area is a set of about 1000 petroglyphs, distributed among the rock outcrops to the south and south-east of the claypan. Most of the petroglyphs are non-representational, consisting of circles, lines and other geometric motifs, though there are some examples of animal tracks. The motifs have been compared with those found elsewhere in Central Australia and Tasmania.
The side chapels and main chapel house a total of 14 altarpieces of gilt carved woodwork (talha dourada) in late 17th-century style. The main altarpiece, in particular, is an outstanding example of the so-called "national" style (estilo nacional). This altarpiece incorporates the tomb of the Saint Queen Elizabeth, founder of the monastery, made of silver and crystal, entrusted in 1614 to the artists Domingos Lopes and Manuel Moreira. The statue of Queen Saint Elizabeth is a 19th-century work by sculptor António Teixeira Lopes.

The campanile of Maria Regina Martyrum is a landmark at the entrance to the ceremonial courtyard, paved with cobblestone and surrounded by walls covered with slabs of black and grey basalt and showing figural way of the cross. The sober interior of the upper church, covered by an even ceiling, impresses with its indirect illumination. The building is regarded an outstanding example of combining church architecture and sculpture. The crypt, originally a single room, has been divided by a gold-coated wall of concrete.
Built in 1930 during the Great Depression, the assembly plant measures nearly 500,000 square feet (46,450 m²). The factory was a major stimulant to the local and regional economy and was an important development in Richmond's inner harbor and port plan. Ford became Richmond's third largest employer, behind Standard Oil and the Santa Fe Railroad. It is also an outstanding example of 20th-century industrial architecture designed by architect Albert Kahn, known for his "daylight factory" design, which employed extensive window openings that became his trademark.
WHALE's goal was to save it from commercial development and turn the house and garden into a museum, which it opened in 1983. In 1996 it became the only city property outside of the New Bedford Historic District to be included as part of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, and in 2005 the house and garden were themselves designated an NHL, as a legacy of New Bedford's whaling supremacy, an outstanding example of a Greek Revival house, and the first house built by Upjohn.
1900 to 1940, when electric motors were too expensive to be fitted to each individually driven machine. The arrangement with all wooden pulleys and combination of both spoked and solid wooden pulleys is fairly unusual. Although this lineshaft is not an outstanding example, it has some significance as representing a technology which was very important and is now rare. The main significance of the lineshafting is its indication that small-scale manufacturing activity was carried on in this building for more than 50 years.
Gene Norman Presents an Art Tatum Concert was released on 10-inch LP by Columbia Records in 1952. Whitney Balliett wrote that "Tatum is a perfect whole in the 1949 Los Angeles concert. Almost every number has passages to ponder and weep over", and highlighted "an arpeggio, lasting some eight bars, that no other pianist would dare because it is impossible" in "The Man I Love". On 9 August 2011 Trailers From Hell! uploaded a video segment on the film to YouTube, in which Eli Roth discusses his feelings on its merits and the giallo genre, opining that it is "a great place to start [into giallo]" and "amongst the best" of the genre, ultimately comparing the film to the work of Dario Argento, Mario Bava, and Lucio Fulci — "the masters of the giallo." Raja Rai Singhji, was an expert in arts and architecture and the knowledge that he acquired during his several sojourns to several countries are amply reflected in the numerous monuments he built in the Junagarh fort. Thus the fort, a composite structure, became an outstanding example of architecture and a unique centre of art, amidst the Thar desert. Karan Singh who ruled from 1631 to 1639, under the suzerainty of the Mughals, built the Karan Mahal palace. Later rulers added more floors and decorations to this Mahal.

The Guns of Normandy: A Soldier's Eye View, France 1944 is a non-fiction book, written by Canadian writer George G. Blackburn, first published in October 1995 by McClelland & Stewart. In the book, the author renders a firsthand account of the Normandy invasion from within the Canadian Forces. The narrative account was called "gripping", given in "the most graphic and authentic detail". The panel of judges who awarded the "Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction" called The Guns of Normandy "an outstanding example" of the genre.
Exterior view of Tschifflik Water feature in Tshifflik Tschifflik (; )– is a summer residence in Zweibrücken, constructed in 1715–1716 by exiled Polish King Stanisław Leszczyński according to a design by Jonas Erikson Sundahl. Tschifflik is an outstanding example of Baroque Landscape architecture. After being exiled from Poland, Leszczyński became the Count Palatine of Zweibrücken as a Prince exercising the head of state's authority on behalf of Charles XII in 1714. He continued in that role until 1719, a year after the Swedish monarch's death.

The interiors of the house are of particular significance, with intact fittings and fixtures dating from the 1920s. Capital Bank Plaza in Downtown Raleigh, NC Capital Bank Plaza is a skyscraper in Raleigh, North Carolina which houses the headquarters of Capital Bank. Formerly known as 333 Corporate Plaza, the 15-story building at 333 Fayetteville Street has of space and is an "outstanding example of International Style modernism" and "features black granite on the facade with polished green marble, black granite, and cherry paneling in the lobby." Emery Roth designed the building, built in 1964. From the 1960s until 1990, the building housed the Raleigh offices of BB&T.
More conflicts led to further struggles for APOEL. Athletes belonging to the club frequently participated in national clashes. The Mary Seaman Ennis House, located at 202 W. 13th St. in Goodland, Kansas, is a historic Queen Anne style house that was built in 1907 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was listed on the National Register in 2006. It was deemed significant as an "outstanding" example of Queen Anne architecture and for association with local builder Fred Hunt. The house is now known as the Ennis-Handy House and is operated by the Sherman County Historical Society as a Victorian-period historic house museum.
The easily comprehended structural system is an outstanding example of typical commercial building construction in New South Wales from the mid- nineteenth century onwards. The next structural development was the introduction of internal cast iron columns from about 1885 onwards. The building has research and scientific potential in the information that its fabric displays and retains, including the very early sprinkler system. The Burke and Wills' Camp B/CXIX and Walker's Camp are significant in illustrating a principal characteristic of early exploration in Queensland - the marking of expedition campsites with blazes to record information for future travellers. The earliness, intactness, and rarity of these blazed trees makes this place an outstanding example of its type. The place has a special association with the life or work of a particular person, group or organisation of importance in Queensland's history.
Painters like the groups Der Blaue Reiter and Die Brücke made a significant contribution to modern art. The AEG turbine factory in Berlin by Peter Behrens from 1909 was a milestone in classic modern architecture and an outstanding example of emerging functionalism. The social, economic, and scientific successes of this Gründerzeit, or founding epoch, have sometimes led the Wilhelmine era to be regarded as a golden age. In the field of economics, the "Kaiserzeit" laid the foundation of Germany's status as one of the world's leading economic powers.
Construction of the abbey church began in 1186 and was finished a century later under abbot Conrad III in 1286. The church was an exceptional structure, circular, like the rotunda of Senones Abbey, adjoining a rectangular choir. The church too was demolished by the order of the abbess of Andlau in 1782. In its circular form, a great rarity, the abbey church strongly resembled the church of Ottmarsheim near Kembs, an outstanding example of primitive Romanesque architecture and a faithful replica, only smaller, of the Palatine Chapel in Aachen.

The Edificio Carrión or Edificio Capitol is a building in central Madrid, Spain. An outstanding example of the expressionist-leaning trend within the wider scope of rationalist architecture in Spain, the building has become an icon of both the Gran Vía and the city. 54-metre high, the building lies on the corner where the Gran Vía meets the , near Callao Square. The project was entrusted to Vicente Eced Eced and Luis Martínez Feduchi, who were influenced by the November Group and most specifically by Erich Mendelsohn's works.
Since 2010 urban developments labeled Forest Cities, drawing from the IBTS and other pioneer projects have been created. The Gardens by the Bay using all of the core design elements of the TSPC Forest City from 2008 like artificial trees with spherical buildings on top is an outstanding example. The Liuzhou Forest City is one of many examples for green architecture, respectively green urban developments of new cities with a lot of green areas, including the facades of buildings. The international efforts to create Forest Cities are another level of implication.
Pomona Mall was a downtown pedestrian mall, recognized by the Los Angeles Conservancy as an outstanding example of Mid-century modern and modern architecture and design. It was completed in 1962, one element in a larger plan of civic improvements covering the whole city. The eastern end is now part of the Western University of Health Sciences campus, while the western end now houses numerous art galleries, art studios and restaurants. Architectural features of interest include the church's south-west portico, a crenellated structure with sculpture that is a major masterpiece of Romanesque art. Supporting the tympanum, a trumeau features a statue of the Prophet Isaiah, an outstanding example of Romanesque sculpture, comparable to the work at Santo Domingo de Silos.
The name of the island may have been recorded in 1263 as 'Breiðoy' (Old Norse "broad island"). In a 1490 document the island is referred to as "Brwsøy" - "Brusi's island" which name may indicate it was the 11th century base for Earl of Orkney Brusi Sigurdsson. This possibility is supported by a later reference to his son Rögnvald as "Lord of the Shetlanders" and Thompson (2008) is in "no doubt " that Shetland specifically was in Brusi's possession during his joint earldom with his brothers. The Bressay Stone is an outstanding example of Pictish art.
Students from all areas of the Bauhaus were involved in this work. The technique was used to construct the Borough House Plantation and the Church of the Holy Cross in Stateburg, South Carolina, both being National Historic Landmarks. An outstanding example of a rammed-earth edifice in Canada is St. Thomas Anglican Church in Shanty Bay, Ontario, erected between 1838 and 1841. The school occupies a site on the corner of Carlton Road and Carlton Crescent back to Rockstone Place. Nos. 11 and 12 Carlton Crescent are Grade II listed buildings. The westwards extension of No. 12 was built in 1961, for which the architects, Richard Sheppard, Robson & Partners, received a Civic Trust design award; this was described as "a model of neighbourly treatment in terms of scale character and materials, and an outstanding example of a modern building meeting present-day requirements yet harmonising beautifully with an earlier style".
One of the finest artefacts found at the site is the Whithorn crozier. The gilded and enamelled crozier is an outstanding example of champlevé enamels which were being made in England in the second half of the 12th century, and this one dates to around 1175. It is now housed in the National Museums of Scotland, although it is loaned to the Whithorn Trust Visitor Centre every summer. It is thought that the crozier was buried with the body of Simon de Wedale, who was one of the Bishops of Whithorn.
Originally three sisters from the mother house at Freeland established the community at Stroud Rectory in response to an invitation from the then Bishop of Newcastle, Ian Shevill. The Monastery, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary was built by community support of mud bricks and is an outstanding example of mud brick building. In its later years the community at Stroud was headed by Sister Angela CSCl, formerly the artist Wendy Solling. Sister Angela lead the community in several controversial directions involving it increasingly in environmental issues and the movement for the ordination of women.
Crespi d'Adda is a northern Italian village and hamlet (frazione) of Capriate San Gervasio, a municipality in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy. It is a historic settlement and an outstanding example of the 19th and early 20th- century "company towns" built in Europe and North America by enlightened industrialists to meet the workers' needs. The site is still intact and is partly used for industrial purposes, although changing economic and social conditions now threaten its survival.UNESCO Reference 730 Since 1995 it has been on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
The Ohio Historic Places Dictionary has described it as "an outstanding example" of a Burr truss bridge. The name reflects the community, which was named for the Harsha family that built a mill there. In the summer of 1863, in a campaign known as Morgan's Raid, raiders from the Confederate States Army led by John Hunt Morgan ransacked the Harshaville general store and burned many bridges, but spared the Harshaville Covered Bridge. In June 2010, the Ohio Department of Transportation received a $100,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration to rehabilitate the bridge.
HO 2004 and Walker 1996 The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of cultural or natural places/environments in New South Wales. 20 Martin Road represents an outstanding example of the writing and creative environment of a leading Australian writer of the 20th Century. The house also represents a Federation bungalow from 1913, which forms part of the high quality, planned precinct of Centennial Park from the Federation era. The building interiors represent a fine example of a modern interior conversion from the 1960s.
An outstanding example of his brand of election management is the recently conducted Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir elections. Both these elections were conducted in adverse circumstances - Jharkhand on the back of Maoist violence, and J&K; on the back of floods and perennial terrorism issues. However, the election was executed to clockwork precision, and this achievement was noted by all as being one of the smoothest elections in these two states. As is typical of Sampath's style, the Election Commission has conducted these elections with least amount of media interaction and hype.
The creek's channel is sinuous and flows through rock formations consisting of sandstone. In the distant past, accumulating piles of glacial drift caused Buttermilk Creek to alter its course and flow over a series of cliffs as a waterfall. The total height of the cliffs is and they consist of sandstone of the Catskill Formation. The falls, which are known as Buttermilk Falls, are a series of low waterfalls that are an "excellent example of the type" and "the most outstanding example of this kind of waterfall system in Pennsylvania".
The DeWint House, in Tappan, New York, is one of the oldest surviving structures in Rockland County and is an outstanding example of Hudson Valley Dutch Colonial architecture. It was built using brick and indigenous stone in 1700 by Daniel DeClark, a Hollander, who emigrated to America in 1676 and bought the land from the native inhabitants in 1682. The date of construction is marked by glazed bricks incorporated into the façade. In 1746, West Indies planter and American patriot Johannes DeWint and his spouse Antje Dewint bought the house.
The Cottonwood Limestone is a marine limestone and calcareous shale, laterally persistent, bench-forming, and notably and consistently showing abundant fossils. An outstanding example of uniformity of thickness over considerable areas, the outcrop of the Cottonwood Limestone over a distance of 150 miles from Nebraska to central Kansas is nowhere less than 5.5 nor more than 6.5 feet. The notable consistency of these characteristics within its range serves to make it a distinctive marker bed. Even so, there are some changes in lithologic character that can be seen from north to south.
The Hackney Empire, 2009 London was the centre of music hall with hundreds of venues, often in the entertainment rooms of public houses. With the decline in popularity of music hall, many were abandoned, or converted to other uses such as cinemas, and their interiors lost. There are a number of purpose-built survivors, including the Hackney Empire, an outstanding example of the late music hall period (Frank Matcham 1901). This has been restored to its Moorish splendour and now provides an eclectic programme of events from opera to "Black Variety Nights".
In the 2006-2007 school year, a modern expansion was added onto the Park Slope building. As part of its "Blue and Gray Goes Green!" initiative, Poly chose to reduce the new Lower School's ecological "footprint." Poly's renovated Lower School became the first LEED-certified school building in New York City, and the first such primary school building in the state. In April 2009, Poly Prep's Lower School won the prestigious Lucy B. Moses Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy as an outstanding example of historic preservation and renovation.
Belvidere, also known as Villa Belvidere is a historic home located in Angelica, near Belmont, Allegany County, New York. It is an outstanding example of Federal architecture, built in 1804 from plans attributed to Benjamin Henry Latrobe. It was built by early settler John Barker Church, former English Member of Parliament and brother-in-law of Alexander Hamilton through his wife Angelica Schuyler Church. It is a large stone-and-brick mansion with a -story central block over a partial basement, a 2-story over basement east wing, and -story service wing.
1720), had no surviving sons, so the farm was deeded in 1753 to his son-in-law Nathaniel Sheffield (1712-1790) the husband of Rebecca Stanton (1713-1775). Today the house is called the Stanton-Sheffield house. Since 1845, when the Sheffields sold the house, it has been in the hands of several owners, all of whom have respected its integrity. The Sheffield House is an outstanding example of a Rhode Island farmhouse which has remained relatively unaltered from its construction at the turn of the 17th century.
The Schwimmhalle Finckensteinallee, an indoor swimming pool in Berlin's Finckensteinallee was completed in 1938 as a training facility for the SS regiment Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. An outstanding example of architecture from the National Socialist era, it was used by the American military from 1945-1994. Due to its historical and architectural significance, the building received listed building protection in 2001. After being comprehensively restored between 2008-2014, its doors were opened to the public in August 2014, since which the pool has been used by schools and clubs and for sports events.
Lake Agassiz Peatlands Natural Area is a National Natural Landmark located in Koochiching County, Minnesota. Designated in November 1965 under the Historic Sites Act, its ownership and oversight are provided by the National Park Service of the United States. This designation from the United States Secretary of the Interior, gives it recognition as an outstanding example of the nation's natural history. The designation describes it as > An example of the extensive peatlands occupying the bed of ancient glacial > Lake Agassiz, illustrating the process of peat accumulation over about > 11,000 years.
The airline began operating low-fare flights connecting Pescara to Paris (Charles de Gaulle International Airport) in 2003, then to Brussels (Brussels South Charleroi Airport) in 2004. During 2005, Air Service Plus started new routes from Pescara to Zürich and from Perugia to Paris. As of 2005, Air Service Plus had carried more than 65,000 passengers, making Pescara and the Abruzzo Region well known amongst French and Belgian tourists. It can be considered as an outstanding example of cooperation between Regions and private investors to develop tourism to less famous destinations.
Under the name of Itasca Natural Area, the area was designated a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service under the Historic Sites Act. It received this designation in November 1965 from the United States Secretary of the Interior, giving it recognition as an outstanding example of the nation's natural history. The designation describes its significance: > The area contains some of the finest remaining stands of virgin red pine, > spruce-balsam fir, and maple-basswood-aspen forest, supporting 141 bird and > 53 mammal species, including bald eagles.
Roman cage cup from Cologne (circa 400 AD) An outstanding example for antique jewellery is the gold Funerary Garland from Armento (4th century BC). A Golden Diadem from the Black Sea, an elaborately decorated headdress from the Crimean Peninsula was produced in around 150 BC. A famous Roman Goblet from Cologne made of reticella (or network) glass (4th century AD) still shows its Latin inscription BIBE MULTIS ANNIS (Drink many years yet!). It was a present of the City of Cologne in return for King Ludwig's support for the completion of Cologne Cathedral.
In Switzerland, the Austroalpine nappes have been eroded away except for a few isolated outcrops called the Sesia unit and the Dent Blanche klippe (the Matterhorn is the most outstanding example of an Austroalpine klippe). These remaining Swiss nappes have a different tectonic and metamorphic history than their counterparts in Austria, which is why they are not always considered a part of the Austroalpine nappes. On the other hand, in Austria, the Austroalpine nappes cover the largest part of that country, except for a few windows like the Hohe Tauern window and the Engadin window.
The Westerman Lumber Office and House is a historic building in Montgomery, Minnesota, United States. The private, commercial structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on March 15, 1982. More conflicts led to further struggles for APOEL. Athletes belonging to the club frequently participated in national clashes. During the 1955–59 national uprising against the British, many of APOEL's athletes and members of the club were active members of EOKA (the National Organisation of Cypriot Fighters), the most outstanding example being the club's track and field athlete Michalakis Karaolis who was hanged by the British colonial authorities. During this period the football team had their closest brush with relegation as most football players were actively taking part in the national struggle.
Facade of the bank In 1852 the Comptoir moved from its temporary office to new headquarters in the hôtel Rougemont at 14, rue Bergère, at first rented. Ten years later the CEP purchased the building, and gradually acquired the surrounding land and buildings. The building, , is an outstanding example of bank architecture. It was built for the Comptoir national d’escompte de Paris (CNEP), and remained the CNEP headquarters from 1852 to 1966, when CNEP and Banque nationale pour le commerce et l’industrie (BNCI) merged to form Banque nationale de Paris (BNP).
At the same time, plans were underway for a new wing which would double the school's capacity. In the 1920s, the Galileo High School building was considered an outstanding example of modern architecture. Planned with the intention of housing one of the best educational institutions in the country, it was equipped to offer the highest type of academic curriculum in addition to training in commercial and technical branches. During the 1970s, Galileo went through an extensive refit where most, if not all, student facilities were moved across the street onto Fort Mason.
The stone rib vaulting is supported by massive pillars and was built between 1505 and 1513, being an outstanding example of Manueline architecture. Some ribs of the roof (liernes) are shaped like twisted ropes and knots, typical Manueline decorative motifs. The main chapel was rebuilt in Mannerist style and features a gilt-woodwork Baroque-Rococo altarpiece designed by famed sculptor Santos Pacheco, who was also responsible for the main altarpiece of Porto Cathedral. The altarpiece incorporates a Holy Mary statue from the 14th century and was carved between 1729 and 1733 by Francisco Machado.
The house is an outstanding example of Queensland federation-period domestic architecture, which, with its generous verandahs, distinctive rotundas, and attention to ventilation in the design, materials and details, addresses both aspect and climate in a creative and aesthetic manner. The place is important because of its aesthetic significance. Situated on a prominent riverside site, Cremorne and its grounds are significant for their landmark and aesthetic qualities. The place has a special association with the life or work of a particular person, group or organisation of importance in Queensland's history.
Situated in a prominent location in the main street of Oberon, the Malachi Gilmore Memorial Hall is a well-known local landmark and makes an important contribution to the streetscape. Malachi Gilmore Memorial Hall was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 5 December 2003 having satisfied the following criteria. The place is important in demonstrating the course, or pattern, of cultural or natural history in New South Wales. The Malachi Gilmore Memorial Hall is of state significance as an outstanding example of Interwar Art Deco architecture in regional New South Wales.
Its construction coincided with the pioneering years of psycho surgery in NSW and Australia. It is also likely that the inclusion in the hospital complex of purpose built TB wards for mentally ill patients was also uncommon. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of cultural or natural places/environments in New South Wales. Bloomfield Hospital, its built form, layout and setting, provides an outstanding example of the principal characteristics of an early Twentieth Century mental hospital designed as a holistic therapeutic environment.
The Regent Theatre is of State heritage significance for the rare and outstanding interior design of its foyer and mezzanine areas by Marion Hall Best. This was a major commission for a public space by one of Australia's leading modernist interior designers, and one of the few intact examples remaining of Best's signature "glazing" paintwork. The Regent is also of State significance as an intact and outstanding example of mid-twentieth century professional women's design in NSW. The Regent Theatre is also of State significance for being a rare and intact large capacity cinema.
The Bathurst Showground is a worthy representation of this rural establishment having attracted people from a wide geographical area and it is an outstanding example of its type with regard to its aesthetic appeal and longevity. Bathurst Showground was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 4 September 2015 having satisfied the following criteria. The place is important in demonstrating the course, or pattern, of cultural or natural history in New South Wales. The Bathurst Showground is of state significance for its association with the larger agricultural region which contributed significantly to the economy and development of the state.
The Hale House was built in 1887 by George W. Morgan, a land speculator and real estate developer, at the foot of Mount Washington just a few blocks from the museum in Highland Park in Los Angeles. The building is an outstanding example of the Queen Anne and Eastlake styles. The house was sold many times and was moved from 4501 to 4425 North Pasadena Avenue (now Figueroa Street) before being purchased by James G. Hale in 1906. It remained in the Hale Family until it was acquired by the museum in 1970, as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument (No. 40).
The island, together with its littoral zone, possesses an unusually high collection of marine and terrestrial life and is unique amongst the neighboring islands as a breeding place for six species of native birds. It provides an outstanding example of the natural ecological system of the Antarctic Peninsula area. In addition, Litchfield Island possesses rich growths of vegetation and has the most varied topography and the greatest diversity of terrestrial habitats of the islands in Arthur Harbour. For these reasons, it was designated an Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA) in 1975 and is currently known as ASPA 113.
To be eligible for designation as a Point of Historical Interest, a resource must meet at least one of the following criteria: # The first, last, only, or most significant of its type within the local geographic region (City or County); # Associated with an individual or group having a profound influence on the history of the local area; or # A prototype of, or an outstanding example of, a period, style, architectural movement or construction or is one of the more notable works or the best surviving work in the local region of a pioneer architect, designer or master builder.
The Treasury Building is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of Italian Renaissance style in late nineteenth century Australian public buildings, and is an outstanding example of its type. The place is important because of its aesthetic significance. The building is important in exhibiting particular aesthetic characteristics valued by the community, and by architectural historians in particular, namely the accomplished design, detailing, materials and workmanship and its landmark quality and townscape contribution, particularly in relation to the adjacent buildings and sites and to the river. The place is important in demonstrating a high degree of creative or technical achievement at a particular period.
By the mid-1920s, the Save the Redwoods Leaguee was actively involved in an effort to preserve the Monterey Cypress. They hired the internationally known landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, to research Point Lobos and report on the areas most noteworthy of preservation. Olmsted's report described Point Lobos as "the most outstanding example on the coast of California of picturesque rock and surf scenery in combination with unique vegetation, including typical Monterey Cypress." In 1933, three years after Alexander Allan's death, the State of California bought from the Allan family for $631,000 and established the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.
On top of this cornice, a battlement-type parapet with sculptured lion faces and "candelabra" decorates the roof line of the structure. Some of the outstanding architectural features present in this museum are highly decorative and detailed pilasters, rusticated podium, cornices, "candelabra", relief and motifs, Ionic capitols, etc. They readily depict the Neo-Classical trend of the epoch. The Villaronga Residence is an outstanding example of this style and is one of two residences still standing of a series of houses designed and built by Wiechers, so important to the architectural and cultural heritage of the city of Ponce.
From the 1860s he was the preferred architect of the railway tycoon Henry Strousberg Bethel, for which he sketched a splendid palace in 1867/68 which became known as the Palais Strousberg at 70 Wilhelmstrasse and was the British Embassy from 1877 to 1939 and in Berlin's Wedding district the large cattle and slaughterhouse from 1868. The buildings for the Berlin Gorlitz railway, which also developed from his Strousberg connection, are an outstanding example of Orth's work. The most important building was the Gorlitz railway station (1866–68) in Berlin. This station became famous but was destroyed in World War Two.
The Blackstone Apartment building was designed by architect Elmer Feig in 1930 for owner and real estate developer Harry Mittleman and is considered an outstanding example of Feig's work. Mittleman was known for employing large numbers of workers and finishing construction within months after beginning. In late March, 1930, Mittleman applied for an exemption to Portland's building code that would allow him to place a backyard on the side of the 100-foot square lot that would become Blackstone Apartments at 395 West Park Street. The address was later changed to 1831 SW Park Avenue according to the 1933 street renumbering system.
Adjacent to a hospital and retirement home for injured war veterans, the royal chapel of Les Invalides in Paris, France, was begun in 1679 and completed in 1708. The dome was one of many inspired by that of St. Peter's Basilica and it is an outstanding example of French Baroque architecture. In 1861 the body of Napoleon Bonaparte was moved from St. Helena to the most prominent location under the dome. Plans for the Church of St. Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris, were approved in 1757 with a dome 275 feet tall over a Greek cross plan.
These two airships were 785 feet (239 m) in length. Other historic references date back to Europe. An outstanding example are the two "hangars d'Orly" for dirigibles at Orly Air Base near Paris. They were designed and built in 1921–1922 by French structural and civil engineer Eugène Freyssinet, the major pioneer of prestressed concrete, and destroyed in World War II. Another remarkable example of a similar concrete construction are the two airplane hangars for the Italian Air Force in Orvieto, Italy, by Italian architect and structural engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, designed in 1935 and built in 1938.
It is widely recognised even today as an outstanding example of its type. At the time of its construction it was so well regarded that it was the recipient of the first Sulman Award. It exhibits the principal characteristics of the style with a firm sandstone base with large arched windows, a plainer brick central portion with repetitive well proportioned pattern of windows and strongly expressed top floor embellished with classical detail and elaborate cornice. The building is also an example of Neo-classical Revival architecture in Australia and is an untainted model of the Commercial Palazzo style in Sydney.
Qantas House is a rare and outstanding example of architectural design of the highest quality in the Australian context from the first phase of post-War, multi-storey commercial building construction in Australia in the period up to 1960. Qantas House is a unique example in the Australian context of a curved, curtain wall building of this type and period. The facade of Qantas House retains its original, aluminium-framed, curtain wall construction, with distinctive aerofoil-shaped mullions. This early technology is becoming increasingly rare with continual upgrading of buildings and the Qantas House facade is an excellent example of this type.
Called "one of the best-designed of the city's Meridian Street mansions" by the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission, the house is also an outstanding example of the architecture of Bernard Vonnegut, a German-trained architect and the first licensed architect in Indiana, who designed many other Indianapolis landmarks. He took a special interest in the house, as he was personally designing it for his brother- and sister-in-law. He also designed the china cabinets, mantelpieces, and carved wood sideboards. The house is architecturally distinctive for its castle keep-inspired tower, thick brick walls, red tile roof, and large stone porch entrance.
Texts written by the Japanese Buddhist monk Ennin describe in detail the cast-iron pagodas and statues widespread in China at the time. Persecution of Buddhism in China led to the destruction of many of these structures. The later Song Dynasty also built cast iron pagodas, exploiting its ability to be both structural and to be cast in any shape, such as in imitation of the timber and tiles of a standard pagoda. The 22m Iron Pagoda at the Yuquan Temple (Jade Springs Temple), Dangyang, Hubei, was built during the Song Dynasty in 1061, and is the most outstanding example to survive.

She received an honorific mention for one of her portraits, which depicted a priest named Collell. A brief review published in La Vanguardia mentioned Vidal as one of the best participants, stating that a portrait about a girl in Sitges was so simple and suggestive that could be envied by other male portrait painters. Another review, published in Diari de Barcelona stated that her portraits were so remarkable that those artworks were recommended as an outstanding example of her abilities. In November 1898 she held her first exhibition at Sala Parés, with the help of her father and Arcadi Mas i Fontdevila.

Weekes.
Hirsh's Shoes was featured in The New York Times in Summer 2015 highlighting Tucson's modern architecture. With the impending Broadway Boulevard widening project, historically insensitive redevelopments to adjacent properties, and rumors of the business closing, the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation contacted the Hirsh Family in 2015 to discuss long-term preservation planning strategies. After numerous discussions regarding threats to the long-term preservation of the building, THPF entered into a purchase contract to save this outstanding example of modernist architecture in the spring of 2016. Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation acquired the property on September 23, 2016.
A most outstanding example is the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna constructed circa 530 at a cost of 26,000 gold solidi or 360 Roman pounds of gold. City life in the East, though negatively affected by the plague in the 6th–7th centuries, finally collapsed due to Slavic invasions in the Balkans and Persian destructions in Anatolia in the 620s. Old Town Hall is the earliest surviving municipal structure in Salem (dating from 1816–17) and is an outstanding example of Federal architecture. The Parish Church and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces () is a Roman Catholic parish church in Żabbar, Malta, dedicated to Our Lady of Graces. The church was originally built between 1641 and 1696 to designs of the Renaissance architect Tommaso Dingli. Its façade, an outstanding example of Maltese Baroque architecture, was built in 1738 to designs of Giovanni Bonavia. The dome was rebuilt in the early 19th century after it had been damaged during the French blockade of 1798–1800, and it was rebuilt again in the first half of the 20th century to designs of Giuseppe Pace.

The Samuel Greenblatt House, at 215 W. River St. in Fromberg, Montana, was built in 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. It is a one-and-a-half story wood frame Colonial Revival-style house, built by carpenter W.C. Parker. It was deemed notable for its associations with the growth and emergence of Fromberg and with Samuel Greenblatt, a Russian immigrant who was an important businessman in Fromberg, as well as for being "an outstanding example of the Colonial Revival style as well as the craftsmanship of W.C. Parker".

El Jadida panorama El Jadida, formerly called Mazagan by the Portuguese, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, on the basis of its status as an "outstanding example of the interchange of influences between European and Moroccan cultures" and as an "early example of the realisation of the Renaissance ideals integrated with Portuguese construction technology". According to UNESCO, the most important buildings from the Portuguese period are the cistern, and the Manueline Church of the Assumption. El Jadida is also home to the annual Salon du Cheval–the largest horse expo in Africa.
Schines Auburn Theatre is a historic theatre building located at 12-14 South Street between Genesee and Lincoln Streets in Auburn, New York. It is owned by the Cayuga County Arts Council. It is an outstanding example of the later Art Deco style of architecture in the Streamline Moderne vein designed by the noted theatre architect John Eberson. It was completed in 1938 and features a ceramic brick and terra cotta facade, a stylized marquee, and a 2,000 seat auditorium with a complex arrangement of flat and curvilinear wall and ceiling surfaces and reveals and decorated with a shooting star motif.
Tocal College is an outstanding example of the Sydney School style of architecture as applied on an institutional scale. Tocal College is historically significant for its association with Tocal Homestead and Tocal Farm which is one of the oldest colonial properties in the Hunter Region and played a significant role in the history of agriculture in New South Wales. Tocal College - C.B. Alexander Campus continues to play a part in the agricultural history of the state by providing agricultural education. The movable collection was designed to complement the design of the College and contributes to its integrity.
The General Archive of the Indies, is the repository of extremely valuable archival documents illustrating the history of the Spanish Empire in the Americas and the Philippines. The building itself, an unusually serene and Italianate example of Spanish Renaissance architecture, was designed by Juan de Herrera. The Plaza de España in the Parque de María Luisa (María Luisa Park) was built by the architect Aníbal González for the 1929 Exposición Ibero-Americana. It is an outstanding example of Regionalist Revival Architecture, a bizarre and loftily conceived mixture of diverse historic styles, such as Art Deco and lavishly ornamented with typical glazed tiles.
Unfortunatelly bad weather and high seas forced the crews of NC-1 (Bellinger) and NC-3 (Towers) to abort the mission and regretfully left their plane which sank. The NC-4 (Read) continued the mission and as the only plane reached successfully the original target, when arrived at the town of Horta on Faial Island in the Azores on May 17, 1919. Bellinger, Towers, and their crews were rescued by Greek freighter Ionia. Although Bellinger and his crew did not complete the flight, he was cited for its vigorous effort and an outstanding example of heroic persistence in face of nature's worst odds.

The Gamble Mansion was built principally by enslaved people, both laborers and artisans, using local materials over the course of five to six years. The mansion's columns and two-foot-thick walls are made of tabby, a unique type of concrete first used by Spanish and English settlers on the Atlantic coast and Sea Islands as an alternative to clay bricks, which could not be produced due to a lack of clay in the coastal soil.

Like many prominent buildings in Christchurch, the CoCA gallery was damaged in the February earthquakes of 2011. In 2013 a "rescue squad of volunteers, former gallery staff on contract and experts from Te Papa recovered all the artworks trapped in the building, including everything on display at the time and the gallery's collection". Four million dollars has been spent on repairs, strengthening and refurbishment to retain the building and ensure it performs as a 21st-century gallery building should, and to save this outstanding example of Christchurch architecture for years to come, re-establishing it as a centre of development for the New Zealand art scene.

In the early 1830s, a house (George W. Dixon House) was built for George W. Dixon, a wealthy merchant tailor and former mayor of New Bern. The Robert Hay House, built at the start of the 19th century, was purchased in 1816 by Robert Hay, a Scottish immigrant and wainwright. The John Wright Stanly House is an outstanding example of Georgian architecture and has served as home to several generations of his family, some of whom were important figures during the American Revolution, the early national period, and the Civil War. The New Bern Academy was the first school in North Carolina established by legal mandate, in 1766.
The 2004–2010 excavation, interpretation and redevelopment of the site is an outstanding example of best practice archaeological management for Australia. The sensitive construction of a Youth Hostel (YHA) above the archaeological site and integrated interpretation of this archaeological site has received multiple awards in design and heritage. The YHA development has been described as arguably one of the best contemporary examples of in situ conservation of archaeological remains in an urban context anywhere in the world. The new youth hostel building reconstructs the original laneways intersecting the site, providing important views to most parts of the site's archaeology as well as vistas from within and outside of the site.
An outstanding example of an early- to mid-20th-century residential neighborhood developed from several antebellum estates. In 1834, Colonel William L. Wynn purchased of land located on a rise east of downtown Columbus, just beyond the city limits. Wynnton Road was an important thoroughfare that also served as the early property line that divided Wynn's land from John Woolfolk's land (portions of which were later sold to Joel Early Hurt, builder of Dinglewood, among others). During the 1920s, a majority of the district was purchased and developed by Lloyd G. Bowers who hired nationally acclaimed landscape architect Earle S. Draper to design a picturesque neighborhood.

The Bilbao-Concordia railway station, also known as La Concordia Station, and formerly and colloqually known as Santander Station, is a terminal railway station in Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain). The station was opened in 1902 and currently serves as the terminus station for several narrow-gauge regional and metropolitan railway services operated by Renfe Feve, a division of the state- owned Spanish railway company Renfe. The Bilbao-Abando railway station, also operated by Renfe and that offers medium and long distance services is located in close proximity. It is a singular building of modernist style, considered an outstanding example of Belle Époque architecture in Bilbao.

Indeed, in 1934 Budapest was officially ranked as a "City of Spas". Today, the baths are mostly frequented by the older generation, as, with the exception of the "Magic Bath" and "Cinetrip" water discos, young people tend to prefer the lidos which are open in the summer. Construction of the Király Baths started in 1565, and most of the present-day building dates from the Turkish period, including most notably the fine cupola-topped pool. The Rudas Baths are centrally placed – in the narrow strip of land between Gellért Hill and the River Danube – and also an outstanding example of architecture dating from the Turkish period.
The New Red House, first mentioned in 1322, probably dates back to the 14th century, the neighbour from the 16th century. The two houses were previously connected to each other inside, the New Red House had no separate entrance. With its ground floor structure consisting essentially of only three oak columns, which bore the entire weight of the three-story building above it, the New Red House was unique in the entire German half-timbered landscape and a well-known attraction far beyond the city. It was considered an outstanding example of medieval town planning and community spirit in the lively centre of the old town.
Café Brauer (also known as the South Pond Refectory) is a restaurant building and official landmark located in Lincoln Park in Chicago, Illinois, at the edge of the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was designed by Dwight H. Perkins and completed in 1908. The building, known for its green roof, red bricks, second floor ballroom, and lagoon-side setting, has been called "an outstanding example of the Prairie School of architecture" and "perhaps the finest expression of Perkins' design philosophy". It was financed by the Brauer family of Chicago, who worked in the restaurant business, and was one of the most popular restaurants in Chicago during the early twentieth century.
Shortly after, however, Olivia began a weakening trend, falling below Category 3 status at 12:00 UTC on September 5. Eventually, Olivia bottomed out as a low-end Category 2 hurricane, before beginning to re-intensify on September 6. Olivia regained major hurricane status by 12:00 UTC that day, and peaked as a Category 4 hurricane at 00:00 UTC on September 7, with winds of 130 mph (215 km/h) and a minimum pressure of 951 mbar (hPa; 28.08 inHg). At that time, the NHC noted that Olivia was "an outstanding example of an annular hurricane", with a sharp eye surrounded by a single ring of intense convection.
Cover of Seyahatname by Evliya Çelebi, 1895 edition Seyāḥat-nāme (Persian/Ottoman Turkish: سياحت نامه, "book of travels") is the name of a literary form and tradition whose examples can be found throughout centuries in the Middle Ages around the Islamic world, starting with the Arab travellers of the Umayyad period. In a more specific sense, the name refers to the travel notes by the Ottoman Turkish traveller Evliya Çelebi (1611–1682). The Seyahâtnâme of Evliya Çelebi is an outstanding example of this tradition. The author's personal name is unknown, and “Evliya” is only his pen name, which he adopted in honor of his teacher, Evliya Mehmed Efendi.
With Best working on the interiors with the assistance of her architect niece, Janet Single, the Regent Theatre is further likely to be of State significance as an intact and outstanding example of mid-twentieth century women's design in NSW. Its aesthetic significance is enhanced by the almost totally intact nature of the interior and exterior of the theatre. The Regent Theatre retains its original large capacity cinema auditorium and wide screen format making the theatre one of the increasingly small number of picture palace style cinema theatres in NSW retaining their original configuration. The historic dimensions of the auditorium are of State significance rather than its technology.
James Clair Flood (October 25, 1826 – February 21, 1889) was an American businessman who made a fortune thanks to the Comstock Lode in Nevada. His mining operations are recounted to this day as an outstanding example of what may be done with a rich ore body and a genius for stock manipulation. Flood piled up millions as one of the famed "Bonanza Kings" and is considered to have been one of the 100 wealthiest Americans, leaving an enormous fortune. He is famous for two mansions, the James C. Flood Mansion at 1000 California St. in San Francisco, and Linden Towers located in Menlo Park, torn down in 1936.
The most important historical and religious monument of the community is the former "Tsaghkavank" monastery complex of which only the „Holy Mother of God“ church has been preserved. It was founded in 1198 and has a spectacular portal of 1682, being an outstanding example of Medieval Armenian architecture and culture in Artsakh and is covered in the Encyclopedia on Artsakh architecture by Sh.M. Mkrtchyan. Other historical monuments of Tsakuri include the cemetery (XVII-XIX centuries), the spring (XIX c.), a khachkar (cross-stone, XVII c.) and Ptkatagh monastery (on the outskirts of Tsakuri, dated 1670). A total of five historical monuments is registered in Tsakuri.
His altarpieces from the 1640s, such as the Assumption of the Virgin (Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan), demonstrate his interest in Anthony van Dyck. An outstanding example from this period is The purification of the Virgin (1645, Museo Civico, Piacenza). Nuvolone was also active as a portrait painter working in the Lombard style with its penchant for a strikingly detailed portrayal of the sitter's features and garments and a lively depiction of the play of light and shadow. These portraits also show influences from portrait painting in Genoa, which in turn was influenced by the Flemish portrait painters such as van Dyck who had resided there.
It is an outstanding example, both internally and externally, of the architecture of Robin Dods, It reflects the influence of some of the design theories current in Europe during Dods's early career in Edinburgh, in particular the Arts and Crafts use of materials and the picturesque approach to landscape and siting. Many features of the building, including the high proportions, opening windows with balconies, arches, French doors, and the open chancel area, contribute to a cool environment. The original plan included a tower above the chancel but this was not built for lack of funds. LJ Harvey's life size statue of St Brigid above the entrance porch, holds a model of the completed church.
James Garfield Statue at Sunset The James A. Garfield Monument stands on the grounds of the United States Capitol in the circle at First Street, S.W., and Maryland Avenue, Washington, D.C. It is a memorial to United States President James A. Garfield, elected in 1880 and assassinated in 1881 after serving only four months of his term, by a disgruntled office-seeker named Charles J. Guiteau. The monument, sculpted by John Quincy Adams Ward (1830–1910) and cast by The Henry-Bonnard Co. of New York, with a pedestal designed by Richard Morris Hunt, is an outstanding example of American Beaux-Arts monument. It was unveiled on May 12, 1887."James Garfield Monument, (sculpture)".
It was recognised for fulfilling the criteria of being a masterpiece of human creative genius, and an outstanding example of a type of building or architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates significant stages in human history. Fountains Abbey is owned by the National Trust and maintained by English Heritage. The trust owns Studley Royal Park, Fountains Hall, to which there is partial public access, and St Mary's Church, designed by William Burges and built around 1873, all of which are significant features of the World Heritage Site. The Porter's Lodge, which was once the gatehouse to the abbey, houses a modern exhibition area with displays about the history of Fountains Abbey and how the monks lived.
The opening caused a sensation and the Argentine intellectual Victoria Ocampo praised the theatre as an outstanding example of modern architecture from the pages of her influential literary journal, Sur. Today, the theatre has 3,300 seats and, together with the Teatro Opera on the opposite side of the street, is one of the city's most important venues for the staging of international shows. Chiquititas was the highest-grossing event in the history of the theater (Casi ángeles was the second). Based on the children-oriented soap of the same name and with the complete cast of the show, six seasons of live musicals were performed at the Gran Rex from 1996 to 2001 during the Winter Holidays.
Several evolutionary processes have acted to diversify the array of ergot alkaloids produced by fungi; these differences in enzyme activities are evident at the levels of substrate specificity (LpsA), product specification (EasA, CloA) or both (EasG and possibly CloA). The “old yellow enzyme,” EasA, presents an outstanding example. This enzyme catalyzes reduction of the C8=C9 double-bond in chanoclavine I, but EasA isoforms differ in whether they subsequently catalyze reoxidation of C8–C9 after rotation. This difference distinguishes most Clavicipitaceae from Trichocomaceae, but in Clavicipitaceae it is also the key difference dividing the branch of classical ergot alkaloids from dihydroergot alkaloids, the latter often being preferred for pharmaceuticals due to their relatively few side effects.
The church is an outstanding example of the work of Cairns architect Edwin Henry (Eddie) Oribin, who produced a range of innovative and unique buildings in north Queensland between 1953 and 1973. Oribin's contribution to Queensland architecture is recognised by the Australian Institute of Architects' establishment of the Eddie Oribin Building of the Year Award for the Far North Queensland region. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a particular class of cultural places. St Paul's Anglican Church is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of post- World War II church architecture, when architects experimented with a wide variety of church designs combining traditional elements, symbols and functions with new construction techniques, materials and forms.
The sculpture is signed on the proper left side: Jose Clara. The front of the base is inscribed: :SERENITY :IN REMEMBRANCE OF WILLIAM HENRY SCHEVTZE :LIEVTENANT COMMANDER VNITED STATES NAVY :MDCCCLIII–MCMII The name of William Henry Schuetze is spelled wrong on the monument per a government source at the time. The statue is an outstanding example of the avantgarde classical style, which became popular in Europe and the US around 1910, following the work of French sculptor Aristide Maillol (1861–1944). Serenity's classical features and its archaic volumes are characteristics of this style, which became particularly important in Catalonia, where Clarà was born, through the Noucentista movement, spanning from 1910 to 1936.
Casa Wiechers-Villaronga is a Classical Revival style mansion in Ponce, Puerto Rico designed and built in the early twentieth century. The house was acquired and restored by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and now operates as the Museo de la Arquitectura Ponceña (Museum of Ponce Architecture). The house sits in the Ponce Historic Zone. The Villaronga Residence is an outstanding example of the Classical Revival style in used in Ponce designs in the early part of the 20th century and is one of two residences still standing of a series of houses designed and built by Alfredo B. Wiechers, so important to the architectural and cultural heritage of the city of Ponce.
The church sanctuary Inside the nave, facing the front The International Style worship building was designed by the firm Saarinen and Saarinen, a father and son partnership of Eliel Saarinen (1873–1950) and Eero Saarinen (1910–1961), the project was Eliel Saarinen's last completed building. The sculptured stone panels were designed by William M. McVey (1922–1976). It was dedicated in 1949, and was acknowledged as an architectural masterpiece from the day it opened. As an early, outstanding example of modern religious architecture in the United States, it was widely published in the architectural, popular, and religious press, and provided inspiration for countless modern churches that were to be built in the 1950s and 1960s.
The Beekman Tower was widely lauded upon its completion, even receiving international recognition when several French architecture publications reported on the structure. The New Yorker stated that the Beekman Tower was "a glorious building on a glorious site and a marvellous example of modernists not gone berserk", while The New York Times said that the building was "an outstanding example of American skyscraper architecture". In 1929, the year after the building opened, the First Avenue Association gave the building an "outstanding architectural merit" award. Christopher Gray of The New York Times wrote in 1991 that before the headquarters of the United Nations was built, the structure was "an out- of-place landmark".
The castle-style homes of the Somba people are known as Takienta in the Koutammakou region of Togo. The uniqueness and sophistication of this architecture has been recognized since 2004 by UNESCO as a world heritage site, with the statement, "Koutammakou is an outstanding example of territorial occupation by a people in constant search of harmony between man and the surrounding nature".Koutammakou, the Land of the Batammariba, UNESCO (2004) The residences of the Somba people have become an attraction in the fledgling tourist industry of Benin and Togo. They are especially found in towns such as Nikki and Kandi that were once Bariba kingdoms and in Parakou in mid-eastern Benin.
The architectural critic Kenneth Frampton considers Bagsværd Church an outstanding example of critical regionalism owing to the synthesis it achieves between universal and regional cultures. Prior to the 20th century it appears to have been managed for centuries as traditional coppice woodland, and it provides an outstanding example of ancient escarpment woodland. The woodland is a variant of the calcareous ash/wych elm stand-type, with pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), and ash (Fraxinus excelsior) the dominant canopy trees throughout, and with scattered concentrations of wych elm (Ulmus glabra). Ancient woodland indicators include small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata), and wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis), both of which are locally common. Plants of particular interest include bird's nest orchid (Neottia nidus-avis), greater butterfly orchid (Platanthera chlorantha) and the very rare Red Data Book species purple gromwell (Lithospermum purpurocaeruleum).

The Getty Museum owns an outstanding example of a 4th-century BC Orphic prayer sheet from Thessaly, a gold-leaf rectangle measuring about 1 by 1½ inches (2.54 by 3.81 cm), that may be viewed online. Several of these prayer sheets have been found in positions that indicate placement in or on the deceased's mouth. A functional equivalence with the Charon's piece is further suggested by the evidence of flattened coins used as mouth coverings (epistomia) from graves in Crete.
Cromarty is architecturally important for its Georgian merchant houses, such as Forsyth House, built by William Forsyth, that stand within a townscape of Georgian and Victorian fisherman's cottages in the local vernacular style. It is an outstanding example of an 18th/19th century burgh, "the jewel in the crown of Scottish Vernacular Architecture". The cottage with crow-stepped gables in Church Street, in which the geologist Hugh Miller was born (in 1801), is now the only remaining thatched building in Cromarty, with most houses having switched to slate roofs. To the east of the burgh is Cromarty House, built by George Ross in 1772 on the site of the former Cromarty Castle, which he demolished.
As the only Renaissance Kunstkammer of its kind to have been preserved at its original location, the Chamber of Art and Wonders represents an unrivalled cultural monument. Representing an outstanding example of a late Renaissance encyclopedic collection of its genre, it continues to be displayed at Ambras Castle Innsbruck, the same setting since its inception. Ferdinand II, like many other rulers of the Renaissance, was interested in promoting the arts and sciences. The Habsburg Archduke spent considerable time and money on his unique collection: armour, weapons, portraits, natural objects, rarities, 'wonders of nature', most recent scientific instruments, musical instruments, precious items, and so on; which in later times should be classified as artificialia, naturalia, scientifica, exotica, and mirabilia.
The Robert William Roper House is an historic house at 9 East Battery in Charleston, South Carolina. It was built on land purchased in May 1838 by Robert W. Roper, a state legislator from the parish of St. Paul's and a prominent member of the South Carolina Agricultural Society, whose income derived from his position as a cotton planter and slave holder. The house is an outstanding example of early 19th Century Greek Revival architecture, built on a monumental scale. Although there are now two houses between the Roper House and White Point Garden to the south, at the time of its construction nothing stood between the house and the harbor beyond.
Some have stated that human ergonomics began with Australopithecus prometheus (also known as “little foot”), a primate who created handheld tools out of different types of stone, clearly distinguishing between tools based on their ability to perform designated tasks. The foundations of the science of ergonomics appear to have been laid within the context of the culture of Ancient Greece. A good deal of evidence indicates that Greek civilization in the 5th century BC used ergonomic principles in the design of their tools, jobs, and workplaces. One outstanding example of this can be found in the description Hippocrates gave of how a surgeon's workplace should be designed and how the tools he uses should be arranged.
Glen Innes is a rare example of an aesthetically cohesive group of showground buildings in a carefully planned and maintained landscape setting. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of cultural or natural places/environments in New South Wales. The Bathurst Showground is of state significance as a representative example of a rural showground that demonstrates the contributions these establishments have made to the social and technical development of rural and regional areas throughout the state. The Bathurst Showground is an outstanding example of its type, regarding its aesthetic appeal and longevity and is one of a small group of showgrounds whose aesthetically pleasing suite of show buildings clustered around its central arena continues to illustrate the "ideal" regional showground in NSW.
Helene Lamport sold the house in the mid 1950s, and the home has since witnessed several uses – as offices, as a bed and breakfast, and currently returning to its original use as a private residence. The two generations of family who first lived there – Dr. Morey, Frances Helen Rose Morey, their son- in-law William Lamport, and his wife Helene Rose – each contribute to the name the house is currently known as, the Rose-Morey-Lamport-House. Among the earliest of the larger mansions in South Bend, Indiana, the local historic preservation commission refers to the home an “outstanding example of the Queen Anne style.” The home contains a large stained glass window that was a medal winner at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.
During his professional career, John Rhys Evans participated in many operatic festivals: the Cestrian Male Voice Choir’s 32nd Festival at the Central Hall, the Annual Celebrity Concert in Pontypridd; the Philopera Circle at St. Pancras Town Hall Festival, sang Ernani (Verdi);, Bolton Choral Union at Victoria Hall where he sang in the Messiah; Wexford Festival, the Welsh Municipal Concert; Hiawatha at the Bromley Philarmonic Choir in Lewisham Concert Hall where he was one of four soloists performing. At Glyndebourne Festival, the most outstanding example was Verdi’s Otello, from which he performed Iago’s Credo, sung in English. He performed at the Welsh Municipal Concert where he sang Eri Tu (Verdi) the first non-Welsh piece of the evening and Cân Yr Arad Goch (sung in Welsh) .
Territories where Oghuz languages are spoken today Turkomans primarily spoke languages that belong (or belonged) to the Oghuz branch of Turkic languages, which included such languages and dialects as Seljuk, Old Anatolian Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Afshar Turkic and others. Outstanding example for one of the languages spoken by the Medieval Turkomans is the language used in the literary masterpiece of the Oghuz Turks called "the Book of Dede Korkut". The language used in one of the three earliest manuscripts (the Gonbad manuscript) that survived to our days, is of a mixed character and depicts vivid characteristics of the period of transition from later Old Oghuz Turkic to Early Modern Turkic of Iranian Azerbaijan. However, there are also orthographical, lexical and grammatical structures peculiar to Eastern Turkic.

Delaware Avenue, in the early 19th century, was the principal residential street in Buffalo and consisted of many freestanding mansions and clubs in addition to these row houses. The site chosen for these homes was referred to as "the Midway " since it was located halfway between Niagara Square (city center) and Forest Lawn Cemetery.Katharine Pratt Horton Buffalo Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution The Birge-Horton House, an outstanding example of a Georgian Revival row house, was designed by preeminent Buffalo architects E. B. Green and W. S. Wicks for Henry and Fanny Birge. Mr. Birge was a partner in the Birge Wallpaper Co. The Birge-Horton House is four stories high, three bays wide, and constructed of brick with stone trim.
The Foley–Brower–Bohmer House is a historic house in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1889 for lumber and railroad magnate Timothy Foley, transferred to his brother Thomas Foley in 1895, bought by lawyer and politician Ripley B. Brower in 1902, and sold to businessman and banker William J. Bohmer in 1923. With The Foley–Brower–Bohmer House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 for its local significance in the themes of architecture, industry, and politics/government. It was nominated for being an outstanding example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture applied to a large, late-19th-century house, and for the accomplishments of its various late-19th- and early-20th-century inhabitants.
The 1939 Sydney Water head office building is of State significance, reflecting the function and growth of Sydney Water and the importance the organisation has had and continues to have in the lives of many people in NSW. The building in its aesthetic, historic and scientific (technical/research) qualities is an outstanding example of architectural growth and development for its values which are reflected in its original design, materials, construction techniques, evidence of use, movable relics and siting within the City of Sydney. The building is held in high esteem by recognised community groups and authorities throughout Australia and New South Wales. Sydney Water Head Office was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 15 November 2002 having satisfied the following criteria.
Mythical Ireland To this day the superstition survives that if you bathe in the lough your hair will turn white. Human habitation in the Ring of Gullion is said to have occurred for at least 6000 years and a rich inheritance of historic monuments survives to mark the duration of that settlement. The area contains the remains of 20 or so large stone tombs and the King's Ring at Clontygora, and the Ballymacdermot tomb are two of the best examples of Court Tombs in the Northern Ireland. The monument at Ballykeel is also an outstanding example of a Portal Tomb while the South Cairn on the summit of Slieve Gullion has the distinction of being the highest surviving Passage Tomb in Britain or Ireland.
Heritage boundaries for the natural and cultural landscape The Cliefden Caves Area is of state significance for its importance in the geological evolution of NSW. The area provides evidence of a lithological/sedimentological sequence that contributes to the understanding of the geological evolution of eastern Australia at a time when that part of the continent was submerged in the palaeo-Pacific Ocean. The area contains the best exposures of Late Ordovician island marine invertebrate fossil assemblages in Australia and is recognised, internationally, as an outstanding example of an Ordovician island faunal (shelly fossils) and floral (algae) assemblage. The fossil evidence is a record of rich biodiversity and includes several fossil species such as the Belubula spectacula that do not occur anywhere else in the world.
El-Amrawy Mosque, built in the 11th Century, an outstanding example of Fatimid Islamic architecture of the time, with a remarkable structural and decorative use of stonemasonryDuring the rule of the Abbasids, Minya's name became attached to Ibn Khasib, the appointed benevolent and almost legendary ruler of Egypt in the early 9th century. Ibn Khasib loved Minya so much that when was asked by the Caliph to name a reward for his good deeds, he chose Minya where he would retire and die few years later. Ibn Khasib is credited for expanding Minya and transferring it from a large village to a robust Medieval city. Since Ibn Khasib years, Minya has been referred to as Munyat ibn Khasib (Ibn Khasib's Minya).
It is still possible to appreciate the siting of the homestead in view of, and with frontage to, the Nepean River as part of the original land grant. The mid-19th century Southern Railway, though sited close to the homestead group, was constructed to maintain this visual relationship. The siting of the homestead group in a context of undulating landform, is an outstanding example of colonial landscape planning to form a picturesque composition with direct sightlines to the neighbouring Camden Park estate and the Great Dividing Range. The Glenlee homestead group is a rare and significant complex of buildings and plantings, approached by a formal drive and sited with commanding views over the countryside to the west and south-west.
The frescoes, fragments of which are now lost, occupy the chapel's walls, vault, arch and lunette. Lorenzo Monaco was initially a miniaturist, but also worked on (wooden) panels: an outstanding example of the latter is the altarpiece in this chapel, his Annunciation. The theme of the frescoes is connected to the contemporary dispute about the Immaculate Conception of Mary, involving the question of whether she had been born without the original sin: the dispute saw the Franciscans and the Benedictines (including the Vallumbrosan Order holding the church at the time) against the Dominicans. Monaco's frescoes were inspired by the apocryphal Gospel of James, dealing with Mary's infancy and supporting the Vallumbrosan's view that she had been not naturally born by her father.
Lyon won the Pulitzer Prize, together with Peter Gorner, for The Chicago Tribune “for [the seven part ‘Altered Fates, The Promise of Gene Therapy’ 1986] series on the promises of gene therapy, which examined the implications of this revolutionary medical treatment.” According to Tribune Editor James D. Squires, the Altered Fates series “is an outstanding example of the kind of excellence in journalism symbolized by the Pulitzer Prize. In 1986, the Tribune had a number of outstanding reporting efforts we think worthy of the Pulitzer, but theirs was indeed our best. All of us are proud and grateful that it was so recognized.” Lyon was the recipient of the 1984 National Headliner Award for a Tribune series on the care of congenitally handicapped newborns.

Oribin's contribution to Queensland architecture is recognised by the Australian Institute of Architects' establishment of the Eddie Oribin Building of the Year Award for the Far North Queensland region. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a particular class of cultural places. The Mareeba Shire Hall is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a public hall, with an impressive exterior, a large multi-purpose auditorium, stage and dressing rooms, entrance foyer, gallery, kitchen, supper room, and former cloakroom, ticket box, bar and library.
The Fountain of the Pioneers is a decorative fountain located in Bronson Park (between bounded by Academy, Rose, South & Park Streets) in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. It is significant as an outstanding example of work by architect and designer Alfonso Iannelli, combining elements of Prairie School, Modernist, Art Deco and Cultural Nationalism movements; it is also significant as one of the few public artworks referencing the Indian removal actions by the United States government in the 1800s. Because of the controversial nature of the sculpture, interpreted by some as depicting white supremacy, and because of the deteriorating condition of the fountain, it was removed from the park in 2018 and placed in storage.
Newcastle City Hall is of historic and aesthetic significance to the State of NSW as an imposing civic building embodying the civic pride of NSW's second city in a restrained inter-war classicism. City Hall is an outstanding example of the Inter-War Academic Classical style in NSW. The building's planning, construction and history of use demonstrates the evolution of local government in Newcastle, reflecting the growth, development and increased power of local government across the twentieth century in New South Wales. The style of the building is illustrative of significant social and aesthetic values of the inter-war period in NSW, demonstrating a desire to hold onto traditional forms of architectural stylism particularly in public architecture, in the face of modernism and social and political change.
The listing was inscribed on the basis of Criterion (ii), "exhibit an important interchange of human values", as the two cities are examples of multicultural trading forged from the exchange of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, and three successive European colonial powers over almost 500 years; Criterion (iii): "bearing unique testimony to a cultural tradition", as the cities’ multicultural heritage is expressed through the great variety of religious buildings of many faiths, ethnic quarters, languages, and festivals; and Criterion (iv): "an outstanding example of a type of building or landscape which illustrates a significant stage in human history", as Malacca and George Town reflect a mixture of influences which created a unique architecture, culture and townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.
In addition came the different origin of the cadres of the both branches of the Order: while in Prussia predominantly Central and West German religious ruled, the corps of the Livonian Order branch recruited predominantly from North German and Danish knights. This reflected the country's attachment to the traditions of forcible proselytizing of Livonians and Estonians at the beginning of the 13th century: Christianity spread in the northern Baltic through pre-Hanseatic sea connections from bases such as Lübeck and the Danish Zealand. Coordinated activities of both branches in the war against the Grand Duchy of Lithuania remained the exception in view of this constellation. An outstanding example is the absence of the entire Livonian Order in the decisive campaign of 1410, which led to the catastrophe in the Battle of Tannenberg.
The School Library Journal in a review of A Young Patriot, called it "An outstanding example of history brought to life through the experience of one individual" and Booklist wrote "Although source notes would have been a welcome addition, young readers researching the military and social history of the American Revolution will find this an excellent resource." In a star review Kirkus Reviews wrote "This work offers a view of the Revolutionary War missing from most books--instead of the broad sweep of dramatic events and change, readers see the daily misery, boredom, confusion, terror, and only occasional triumph of army life. Murphy provides the best of both, the drama and the grind, appeasing readers' fascination with war without romanticizing it." The Cooperative Children's Book Center called it a " well-documented, carefully developed narrative".
Rose Seidler House is a modern two-storey, 12 room house sited on of suburban bushland with intact gardens. The house is constructed of four basic materials; natural bush stone, reinforced concrete, timber and glass. Built in 1949-1950 in the International modernist style, it was futuristic and modern for Australia at that time, and is an outstanding example of mid-century-modern domestic architecture. In 1991, Harry Seidler described the house's spatial design which was characteristic of his approach in the rest of his life's work: Following the example of the houses he had worked on in Breuer's office in 1946-48 which were located on compounds next to a public nature reserve in North-East USA, Seidler picked the site for the house because it was next to Ku-Ring-Gai Chase reserve.
Rapid Run Natural Area The first settlers in the area found a very dense forest that was according to Conrad Weiser, "so thick that for a mile at a time we could not find the place the size of a hand, where the sun could penetrate, even in the clearest day..." Some examples of this dense forest still stand today at R. B. Winter State Park. The Rapid Run Natural Area is of land set aside "to provide a location for scientific observation of natural systems, to protect an example of a typical and unique plant and animal community, and to protect and outstanding example of natural interest and beauty." This natural area has been largely untouched since it was last logged for timber in 1850. Pileated woodpeckers can be seen in this area.
Börsborn takes the shape of a clump village in whose middle three Kreisstraßen (District Roads) from neighbouring villages meet in a three- pointed star. Near this intersection, where the oldest built-up area is to be found, stands the belltower endowed by Countess Marianne von der Leyen. The building in the village's core is still characterized by the Einfirsthaus – literally “house with one roof ridge” – a style of farmhouse typical of the Westrich, an historic region that encompasses areas in both Germany and France. There is even an outstanding example of such a building in a homestead in which the stables and the barn are divided from the house in an arrangement called a Dreiseithof (“three-sided estate”). Other streets with workers’ houses and new building branch off from the middle of the village.
An outstanding example of this influence was research based on comparative law analyses regarding European harmonisation of the law against unfair competition of trademark law, of design law as well as copyright law. Also essential were comparative law studies on the patentability of biotechnological inventions or the exploration of limits between the trademark rights. In 2002, the Institute was modernised significantly, in particular with respect to personnel, areas of expertise, and its facilities. On 1 January 2002, Josef Drexl, Reto M. Hilty and Wolfgang Schön were appointed to the Directorate of the Max Planck Institute, serving alongside Joseph Straus, who was appointed Director in 2001 taking over the directorship from Gerhard Schricker. On 1 July 2002, a new department “Accounting and Taxes” was added to the newly formed unit “Intellectual Property Law and Competition Law”.
The site has a unique ability to provide "hands on" experience of important phases of Sydney's history and development and has high interpretative and educational potential. The 2004–2010 archaeological investigation and redevelopment of the site is an outstanding example of best practice archaeological management and interpretation in Australia. The sensitive construction of a Youth Hostel (YHA) over the archaeological site and integrated interpretation of this archaeological site has received multiple awards in design and heritage. The YHA development has been described as arguably one of the best contemporary examples of in-situ conservation of archaeological remains in an urban context anywhere in the world.GML 2010 Cumberland Street archaeological site was listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 17 December 2010 having satisfied the following criteria.
In 1984, the Hall was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as being of architectural and historical value: "… the building is an outstanding example of an early nineteenth century vernacular temple- fronted commercial structure, of the Classical Revival Style. It is clad in narrow feather-edge clapboard and is highlighted by recessed panelled front doors, large commercial style front windows, with panelled surrounds, engage pilasters, with classical entablature, returned eaves and small 12 over 8 upper sashes…" In 1986, an extension was added to the south side of the building. Moneys for the project were donated by several local citizens and businesses, all of which are memorialized on a plaque inside the Hall. Many of the building materials were donated by the production company which filmed "Boy in Blue", in Burritts Rapids in 1984.
The two-story portion appears to be based on Anglo I-house design, while the rest is Spanish-Mexican in style. It was deemed significant in 1988 as "one of the earliest remaining buildings from the settlement of the Mimbres valley and as a good reminder of the importance of agriculture in the valley's economy; it [is also] an outstanding example of the introduction of Anglo-American design elements into the Hispanic building tradition of the region." An original dugout survives under the wood floor of a large room, the galera, at the northeast corner of the compound. The room was used for social events including dances, and is believed to have been where school was taught by Elizabeth McGregor before construction of the valley's first school buildings in the 1880s.
At Preshil, school children participated in the design process, evident in the scale and informality of the design. Preshil is an early and outstanding example of the interest of Melbourne architects, led by Borland, in inventive timber architecture, in structural techniques and expressive form, reflecting the exploratory lifestyles of the 1960s and 1970s. Preshil is historically significant in reflecting the social changes taking place during the 1960s, in particular the emergence of a counterculture and dissatisfaction with traditional middle class values, including the conservatism of traditional schools and their educational methods. Preshil is the only progressive school in Melbourne surviving from the major period of interest in progressive schools in the 1920s and 30s, when the relationship between a child's development and their learning environment began to be explored through experimental architecture.
The Menec alignments, the most well-known megalithic site among the Carnac stones In the Neolithic period (see Neolithic Europe), megalithic (large stone) monuments, such as the dolmens and menhirs at Carnac, Saint- Sulpice-de-Faleyrens and elsewhere in France begin to appear; this appearance is thought to start in the fifth millennium BC, although some authors speculate about Mesolithic roots. In France there are some 5,000 megalithics monuments, mainly in Brittany, where there is the largest concentration of these monuments. In this area there is wide variety of these monuments that have been well preserved, like menhirs, dolmen, cromlechs and cairns. The Cairn of Gavrinis in southern Brittany is an outstanding example of megalithic art : its 14 meters inner corridor is nearly completely adorned with ornamental carvings.
It has brick chimneys with incised > geometric detail and corbelled projections at top and a second floor turret > window at the southeast corner, also curved wood brackets at the second > floor cornice. Noting the eclectic style, Givigian wrote that the house has "exuberance in ornamentation and detailing without academic rules, based on borrowed styles and forms of the past but mixed in unrestrained though often inventive and charming ways and fine craftsmanship." In announcing its designation of Hale House as a historic monument, the Cultural Heritage Commission gave the following reasons: > This picturesque structure is an outstanding example of the late Victorian > period in Los Angeles. Its prime significance is that it perhaps best > embodies the essence of, or the most typical features of, this historical > style in one given example.
Kamthieng House Museum, Siam Society, Bangkok Kamthieng House Museum display In 1993 Nang Kimhaw Nimmanhaeminda family of Chiang Mai presented to the Society the Kamthieng House, an outstanding example of old northern Thai architecture, named after her mother, Nang Kamthieng. The teakwood house was originally built in Chiang Mai, in the mid-19th century, on the east bank of the Ping River by Mae Saed, a great-granddaughter of a prince of Mueang Chae. The structure consists of two prefabricated rectangular units with a common floor, a covered veranda and walkway leading to the kitchen, and an open platform – all elevated on 36 octagonal teak pillars. The walls lean slightly outward from the floor to the lower edge of the peaked roof, the end of which are adorned with v-shaped galae.
An outstanding example of the physician–humanist, Cotugno was devoted to books and accumulated a large library, was well versed in art, architecture, numismatics, and antiquities, and had a great facility in the Latin language. In 1761 Cotugno published for distribution to friends a plate that traced the course of the nasopalatine nerve, which is responsible for sneezing. Antonio Scarpa acknowledged his priority in knowledge of this nerve. In the same year his anatomical dissertation De aquaeductibus auris humane internae, following the work of Guichard Joseph Duverney and Antonio Maria Valsalva and anticipating that of Hermann von Helmholtz, described the vestibule, semicircular canals, and cochlea of the osseus labyrinth of the internal ear, demonstrated the existence of the labyrinthine fluid, and formulated a theory of resonance and hearing.
The fourth movement, in C minor and C major, is in sonata form. Samuel Adler has singled out this work's second movement as an outstanding example of how to score for string instruments, observing of the movement's final variation: > This is a wonderful lesson in orchestration, for too often the extremes in > the range are wasted too early in a work, and the final buildup is, as a > result, anticlimactic. Greycliffe House is an outstanding example of John F. Hilly's architectural design and is one of a suite of neighbouring Hilly residences in the immediate vicinity including Strickland House. Use of Greycliffe House as a health facility for infants and babies, firstly as Lady Edeline Hospital for Babies from 1914-1934, and, later, as the Tresillian Mothercraft Training School from 1934-1968 is of historic significance. The history of these institutions exhibit the evolution of philosophies and methods of treating infant patients and their mothers which can be demonstrated in the various alterations and additions to the buildings and landscape from this period. Works such as Margaret Harper House (1939), and the parterre garden, designed by long-serving matron, Matron Kaibel, in the 1930s, contribute to the layering of significance in the setting.
As at 12 February 2009, the Malachi Gilmore Memorial Hall was of state significance as an outstanding example of Interwar Art Deco architecture in regional New South Wales. Designed by the Sydney office of Agabiti & Millane and completed in 1937, the facade features curved walls and rooflines, geometric windows, glass bricks, an asymmetrical, stepped skyline and other 1930s "picture palace" details. Built on land donated to the Catholic Church by a pioneering settler family, with funds raised by the congregation, it served as a community centre for the entire Oberon community between 1937 and 1977. The elaborate facade contrasts with the large "plain country hall" behind, which has low architectural significance but high social significance as an historic venue for numerous local balls, dances, civic receptions and amateur theatricals for 40 years.
In July 2006, the city of Amsterdam announced its intention to nominate the canal ring as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Because of new administrative requirements for the nomination, however, the nomination was delayed until December 2008. On August 1, 2010, at the 34th session of the World Heritage Committee added to the World Heritage List. Amsterdam's canal belt has been named a World Heritage site under the criteria I, II, and IV; “to represent a masterpiece of human creative genius;” “to exhibit an important interchange of human values, over a span of time or within a cultural area of the world, on developments in architecture or technology, monumental arts, town-planning or landscape design;” and “to be an outstanding example of a type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates (a) significant stage(s) in human history,” respectively.
The homestead and grounds, its farmland, associated residences and outbuildings, and Greenthorpe village all date from the Edwardian period and are entirely centred around a single landowner, homestead and wheat farming, the likes of which may not exist elsewhere in the state or nation. In its distinctive scale, grandeur, planning, farmlands, gardens and collection of purpose- related buildings, the complete pastoral estate of Iandra Homestead provide rare evidence of the advancements, operation, prosperity and importance of wheat growing in Australia's development during the early 1900s. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of cultural or natural places/environments in New South Wales. The Iandra Homestead Pastoral Estate represents an outstanding example of a vast wheat farming estate from the Federation period, complete with its original farmland, manor house, park-like gardens, Estate and farm buildings.
The Parramatta Female Factory and Institutions Precinct is an outstanding example of a place which demonstrates Australia's social welfare history, especially regarding the institutionalisation of women and children over the 19th and 20th centuries. Institutionalisation was a core element of Australia's welfare system for over 150 years, where those receiving social services were placed in 'care institutions' which provided government services in a residential setting. Through this period, the Precinct was the site of the Parramatta Female Factory for women convicts, a Roman Catholic Orphan School for Catholic children, and finally the Parramatta Girls Industrial School, a home for girls seen as neglected or wayward, including children from the Stolen Generations. Together, these facilities provided shelter, education and oversight of thousands of women and children, but they were also often places of poor treatment and abuse.
Saint-Louis' characteristic colonial architecture along with its regular town plan, its location on an island at the mouth of the Senegal River and the system of quays, gives Saint-Louis the distinctive appearance and identity that have raised the Island to the rank of world heritage since 2000. The Island of Saint-Louis is inscribed on the World Heritage list on the basis of criteria ii and iv: Criterion ii The historic town of Saint-Louis exhibits an important exchange of values and influences on the development of education and culture, architecture, craftsmanship, and services in a large part of West Africa. Criterion iv The Island of Saint-Louis, a former capital of West Africa, is an outstanding example of a colonial city, characterized by its particular natural setting, and it illustrates the development of colonial government in this region.
Reflecting pool and former carriage house. alt= alt= The of gardens are structured as a series of formally enclosed spaces framed within brick walls and clipped hedges, which open one from another, providing long axial views, in which profuse naturalized plantings of hardy and annual plants contrast with lawns, brick and gravel paths, formal reflecting pools, framed in walls and clipped hedging in box, holly, laurel and yew (illustration, right) and punctuated by massive terracotta pots and many narrowly columnar Irish yews, originally grown on the estate from cuttings. Filoli is an outstanding example of the Anglo-American gardening style reintroducing Italian formality, that was pioneered at the end of the nineteenth century by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll in British gardens and exemplified in the U.S. by designs of Charles A. Platt and Beatrix Farrand.McDermott 1984.
On 16 October 1986 he was knocked down by a car in Canada. At the time, he was on a tour of Canadian universities to speak about the plight of African refugees, promote university scholarships for refugees, and to visit African students whom he had helped to place in Canadian universities and colleges. As the UNHCR High Commissioner at the time, , observed, Hugh was an outstanding example of the capacity of one man to improve the human condition by individual effort. Before his death he had made arrangements for his personal estate to be used to set up a foundation to promote the education of refugees and in 1988 the Hugh Pilkington Charitable Trust (HPCT) was established in the UK. In 2002 Windle Trust International (WTI) was formed to manage the programmes of HPCT as a charitable company limited by guarantee.
The station was intended to be the centre and a key architectural feature of a new suburban town; it faces a circus in diameter that is intersected by four approach roads which provide access to all parts of Hendon and the surrounding areas beyond. For many years this was a roundabout known as 'Central Circus'; however it is now a crossroads controlled by traffic signals. Writing in 1932, William Passingham commented the integrated approach taken at Hendon Central as "an outstanding example of the co-ordination of road-planning with passenger station requirements." He noted, only nine years after the station opened, that it had already become the centre of an "ever-widening cluster of new houses" and accurately predicted that it would become "the centre of [a] small township", or what would now be called a suburb.

The 1st Battalion was involved in the retreat from Rangoon during the Japanese conquest of Burma, and the 10th Battalion saw active service in the defeat of Japanese forces during the Burma Campaign 1944–45. After the Second World War, the hostilities-only battalions were disbanded and the 1st and 2nd Battalions were amalgamated, leaving the regiment with one regular and one Territorial Army battalion. It achieved fame during the Korean War when the 1st Battalion held out for three nights against overwhelming odds during the Battle of the Imjin River. The stand, described by the commander of the United Nations forces in Korea at the time as "the most outstanding example of unit bravery in modern war", prevented the encirclement of other United Nations forces, for which the regiment was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and earned the nickname The Glorious Glosters.
Lyons stormed the Dutch battery, captured it, dispersed the Dutch garrison of 180 men and two boat crews and gunned down the Dutch reinforcements as they arrived, before dismantling the fort, destroying its 54 guns with dynamite (so that they could not be used on the British Fleet), and returning to his ship. This action made Lyons famous within the Royal Navy and was praised as ‘the most outstanding example of individual bravery in the wars which followed the French Revolution’ for decades after it occurred. Lyons’s Commander-in-Chief, Commodore Broughton, acknowledged Lyons’s 'gallantry and zeal' but criticised him because 'the attack was made contrary to orders'. For this action, however, Lyons was mentioned in dispatches and, despite the fact that he had acted without orders, proposed for early promotion to the rank of Commander, which he received on 21 March 1812.
El Jadida or al-Jadida (; ), is a port city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, located 100 km south of the city of Casablanca, in the province of El Jadida and the region of Casablanca-Settat. It has a population of 220,181 as of 2020. Ramparts of El Jadida From the sea, El Jadida's old city has a very "un- Moorish" appearance because of its massive Portuguese-built walls of hewn stone, one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World. The Portuguese Fortified City of Mazagan was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, on the basis of its status as an "outstanding example of the interchange of influences between European and Moroccan cultures" and as an "early example of the realisation of the Renaissance ideals integrated with Portuguese construction technology".
In a short period of time, from 1911 to 1918, Wiechers was commissioned with various important buildings such as: the Loggia Aurora, Club Deportivo de Damas, the Havana Theatre, Banco of Ponce Building, and Santo Asilo de Damas Hospital among others, where he fully expressed the European Neo-Classical style which he learned from, and was influenced by, Enric Sagnier. The Neo-Classical influence is manifested in most of his buildings and particularly in the Villaronga residence for its richness and highly decorative details (pilasters, rusticated podium, cornices, "candelabra", relief and motifs, Ionic capitols, etc. are some of the decorative details of the Neo-Classical trend). The Villaronga Residence is an outstanding example of this style and is one of two residences still standing of a series of houses designed and built by Wiechers, so important to the architectural and cultural heritage of the city of Ponce.
Pons fans also regard Derleth as having given Pons his own distinctly different personality, far less melancholy and brooding than Holmes's. The Pons stories also cross over, at times, with the writings of others, such as Derleth's literary correspondent H. P. Lovecraft in "The Adventure of the Six Silver Spiders", Dr. Fu Manchu author Sax Rohmer, and Carnacki the Ghost- Finder in "The Adventure of the Haunted Library". The tales in the Pontine canon can be broadly divided into two classes, the straight and the humorous, the straight being more or less straightforward tales of detection in the classic Holmesian mode, while the others—a minority—have some gentle fun, most notably by involving fictional characters from outside either canon (e.g., Dr. Fu Manchu); perhaps the most outstanding example is "The Adventure of the Orient Express", in which are thinly disguised versions of Ashenden, Hercule Poirot, and the Saint.
For the archaeological sites the Committee cited Criterion (iii): "bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared" while for the town they cited Criterion (iv): "be an outstanding example of a type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates (a) significant stage(s) in human history". Beginning in 2005 the reports of the World Heritage Committee included criticism of what the committee considered to be the lack of progress in tackling the problems arising from the conservation status of the town. In its 2005 report, while praising the efforts in restoring the adobe building and improving the sanitation, the Committee commented on the lack of a development plan and requested that the World Heritage Centre, ICOMOS and the ICCROM undertake, in collaboration with the Malian Government a study of alternative solutions to relieve urban development pressure. The 2006 report produced by the Committee was more critical.
Prince Edward, his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and former Lieutenant Governor Lincoln Alexander unveil an Ontario Heritage Trust plaque in 2006 The original three buildings and the plazas of Toronto–Dominion Centre were together recognized as a part of Ontario's built heritage in 2005, when an Ontario Heritage Trust plaque was unveiled by Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Lincoln Alexander. The complex has been designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act since 2003. The designation notes "The Toronto- Dominion Centre is an outstanding example of the International Style of architecture." The concrete foundations, the load-bearing black-painted steel frames, the bronze-tinted glass curtain walls with mullions and a grid of exposed and painted steel I-beams, the revolving doors at the bases and, on the towers, the pilotis, are noted architectural features on the exterior of the buildings.
Dyason was put in charge in 1958 and was appointed Reader and Head of Department from 1965 to 1974. In 1961 she attended the famous Oxford presentation by T S Kuhn where he first presented his controversial ideas about historical changes in scientific theories and the importance of social factors.
