They also suggested that such an object might explain the trans-Neptunian object Sedna's peculiar orbit. However, the sample size of Oort comets was small and the results were inconclusive.
Hub motor electromagnetic fields are supplied to the stationary windings of the motor. The outer part of the motor follows, or tries to follow, those fields, turning the attached wheel. In a brushed motor, energy is transferred by brushes contacting the rotating shaft of the motor. Energy is transferred in a brushless motor electronically, eliminating physical contact between stationary and moving parts.
Portwood is an area of Stockport, England, just east of the town centre along Great Portwood Street. The part closest to the town centre is mainly given over to shops (including the Peel Centre); the outer part is residential. The River Tame and Goyt and M60 motorway run through the area. The former Stockport Portwood railway station lies under the M60 motorway.
The Mongols initially tried to break the castle's gates. When this strategy was proven ineffective, they started night raids on the outer part of the castle on minor defensive structures. Although these raids surprised the Song army at first, the Mongols were not able to break into the castle. During these attempts, Wang Dechen was killed by a Song mangonel.
The two earlier whorls follow the apical are trilirate. The body whorl is angular at periphery, flat beneath, indented in the center around the insertion of the columella. The aperture is rhomboidal, oblique, angled on the outer part, above the angle thickened inside by a heavy callus or pearly submarginal deposit. The columella is oblique, arcuate and a trifle toothed at base.
The lamina is linear-lanceolate or slightly spathulate and up to 35 cm long and 6 cm wide. It has an acute apex and is gradually attenuate towards the base. Four to six longitudinal veins are present on either side of the midrib. Pinnate veins run obliquely towards the margin and are indistinct in the outer part of the lamina.
A feature that sets them apart from other coins of their age is that they were bimetallic. The outer part was made of copper, and the inner part was originally composed of silver to make up for the small intrinsic value of copper — but in most cases 60 percent zinc and 40 percent nickel were used.victorian model penny – British Coins. Retinal detachment is a disorder of the eye in which the retina separates from the layer underneath. Symptoms include an increase in the number of floaters, flashes of light, and worsening of the outer part of the visual field. This may be described as a curtain over part of the field of vision. In about 7% of cases both eyes are affected.
This nudibranch has a background colour which can be white or any shade of yellow to a yellowish brown with characteristic markings consisting of many brown spots of varying sizes. These spots are surrounded by a paler ring and extend into the outer part of the mantle.Kocian, J., 2006 (Apr 21) Diaulula sandiegensis from Puget Sound. [= D. odonoghuei] [Message in] Sea Slug Forum.
There are settlements all around the shoreline of the fjord and on some of the islands at the mouth of the fjord. Some of the larger, more notable villages on the shore of the fjord include Fiskåbygd, Sylte, Slagnes, Åheim (all in Vanylven) and Leikanger and Borgundvåg (in Selje). The Haugsholmen Lighthouse is located in the outer part of the fjord.
NGC 4921 is a barred spiral galaxy in the Coma Cluster, located in the constellation Coma Berenices. It is about 320 million light-years from Earth. The galaxy has a nucleus with a bar structure that is surrounded by a distinct ring of dust that contains recently formed, hot blue stars. The outer part consists of unusually smooth, poorly distinguished spiral arms.
This can sometimes produce a multicolored iris, i.e., an eye that is light brown/amber near the pupil and charcoal or dark green on the outer part of the iris (or vice versa) when observed in sunlight. Definitions of the eye color hazel vary: it is sometimes considered to be synonymous with light brown or gold, as in the color of a hazelnut shell.
The orange sun star has a somewhat inflated appearance (especially after it has recently fed) and eight to ten long arms with tapering tips. It grows to a diameter of about . The aboral (upper) surface is covered with plates, each bearing fifteen to thirty small, blunt spinelets known as paxillae. These are arranged in oblique rows along the arms and outer part of the disc.
Most probably, the magnetic field is generated similarly to that of Jupiter – by currents in the liquid metallic-hydrogen layer called a metallic-hydrogen dynamo. This magnetosphere is efficient at deflecting the solar wind particles from the Sun. The moon Titan orbits within the outer part of Saturn's magnetosphere and contributes plasma from the ionized particles in Titan's outer atmosphere. Saturn's magnetosphere, like Earth's, produces aurorae.
The pants are tapered at the ankle, with the outer part of the leg being longer than the inner part. They have an elastic waistband to allow for greater flexibility and movement. The pants were originally created in a zebra print, but later began to be sold in many other prints. Regardless of the specific design, Zubaz are almost always bright, flashy, and often ostentatious.
This technique was first practiced by Herman Knapp in 1884. Here, 2% xylocaine is introduced into the muscle cone behind the eyeball. The injection is usually given through the inferior fornix of the skin of the outer part of the lower lid when the eye is in primary gaze. The ciliary nerves, ciliary ganglion, oculomotor nerve and abducens nerve are anesthetized in retrobulbar block.
Darling railway station is located on the Glen Waverley line in Victoria, Australia. It opened on 24 March 1890, and serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Malvern East.Malvern East Vicsig The line through the station was originally built to link Burnley to the Outer Circle line at Waverley Road, and on to Oakleigh. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun. Rainbows can be full circles. However, the observer normally sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground, and centered on a line from the sun to the observer's eye. In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side.
Arthropods have exoskeletons that provide protection from the environment, mechanical load support, and body structure. The outer layer, called the epicuticle, is thin and waxy and is the main waterproofing barrier. Below is the procuticle, which is designed as the main structural element to the body. The procuticle is made of two sections, the exocuticle on the outer part, and the endocuticle on the inner part.

He isolated patients while they were undergoing surgery, instead of operating in a room with other patients. He was also an innovator in the field of otorhinolaryngology. He developed the blepharoplasty technique to remove tumors in the lower eyelid, cancers of the cheekbone, and to treat the loss of the outer part of the eyelids. He developed the cheiloplasty technique to treat lip cancers.
The outer part of the fjord is also called Sørfjord. Several large rivers run into the Vefsnfjord, including the Vefsna, Fusta, and Drevja. All three of the rivers are traditionally excellent salmon fishing rivers, although they now have been infected with the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. A German prisoner ship was sunk here by British Aircraft during World War II with major loss of life.
Xeromphalina kauffmanii resembles the species, but it grows on decaying wood of broad-leaved trees. Xeromphalina brunneola also resembles the species, except for the odor, taste, color of the cap, and by the smaller, narrowly elliptical spores. When the species is young, their caps are bell-shaped. As they mature, the outer part of the cap expands and rises which leaves the center depressed, resembling a navel.
Brändöskär is located in the outer part of the Luleå archipelago, about east of Lövskär on the mainland. Brändöskär is joined to the island of Uddskär by an isthmus. The cottages and boathouses of a fishing village were built around the bay between Brändöskär and Uddskär when the two islands were separate. The island was named after the fishing village of Brändön on the mainland.
The stigmata is white, outlined with black and there is a large white patch at the middle of the costa traversed by short dark lines and another towards the apex preceded and followed by black lines. There are some smaller white spots with black outlines on the outer part of the inner margin. The hindwings are yellowish, with a blackish subterminal band, outwardly diffuse.Seitz, Adalbert.
The cavity magnetron is a vacuum tube with a filament in the center of an evacuated, lobed, circular cavity resonator. A perpendicular magnetic field is imposed by a permanent magnet. The magnetic field causes the electrons, attracted to the (relatively) positive outer part of the chamber, to spiral outward in a circular path rather than moving directly to this anode. Spaced about the rim of the chamber are cylindrical cavities.
The outer part of the fjord is split with the western coast belonging to Bø Municipality and the eastern coast belonging to Hadsel Municipality. Several small fjords branch north from the fjord: Jørnfjord, Hellfjord, Melfjord, Olderfjord, and Bjørndalsfjord. There are two churches located along the fjord: Indre Eidsfjord Church and Ytre Eidsfjord Church (meaning "inner" and "outer" Eidsfjord churches). Norwegian County Road 820 runs along the inner shore of the fjord.

The outer part of the disk appears to be warped, so that the major axis is not quite perpendicular to the minor axis, and the morphology is somewhat disrupted. The inner disk contains multiple intense star-forming regions. This is taking place in an inner ring with a radius of that may have been triggered by a merger with a smaller companion. It has an H II nucleus.
The vegetation further consisting of several Erica species, Cryptadenia, Serruria, Passerina, and low, tufted Restionaceae. Most plants start flowering about three years after germination. The species is pollinated by insects, partticularly butterflies, bees and beetles, and the fruits that fall to the ground about two months after flowering are collected by ants, who carry them to their underground nests. Here they eat a pale outer part that is attractive to ants.
Stjernsundet is a strait in Troms og Finnmark, Norway. It separates the island of Stjernøya from the mainland. Stjernsundet leads from the outer part of Altafjorden, and opens up westwards into Lopphavet. During the World War II Operation Source, a number of British X-crafts found their way from Lopphavet through Stjernsundet and succeeded in attacking and damaging the German battleship Tirpitz in Kåfjorden, an inner branch of Altafjorden.
The Chapelle Sainte Catherine is a Roman Catholic chapel located in Hombourg- Haut, in the historic region of Lorraine, France. Built by the knight Simon of Hombourg between 1250 and 1270, it initially was a private chapel, surrounded by the buildings of the knights' castle. Its towers and walls made up the outer part of a big medieval castle. The chapel was renovated in 1706, 1897 and 1984.
The zygomaticus minor is a muscle of facial expression. It originates from zygomatic bone and continues with orbicularis oculi on the lateral face of the levator labii superioris and then inserts into the outer part of the upper lip. It draws the upper lip backward, upward, and outward and is used in smiling. Like all muscles of facial expression, it is innervated by the facial nerve (CN VII).
The division is centred on the lower Hunter Valley and the outer suburbs of Greater Newcastle. Mature R. musicalis ranges from 2.5 to 8 meters tall. The bottle-shaped trunk tapers down, with the broadest diameter of about 0.5 meters occurring at water level. The wood is soft and cream colored. R. musicalis is the only species in the genus Ravenea that lacks a layer of dense, hard, vertical black fibers lining the outer part of the stem, thought to benefit the structural strength of the tree.
A similar attempt to mount it on the chassis of captured Renault R-35 tanks was less successful.Jentz, pp. 62–63 The barrel had the unique feature of being able to swing 180° so that the barrel laid flat over the trails for transport and the outer part of the trails could be also folded inward to reduce its size. The gun had a small gun shield and wooden-spoked wheels.
The background colour of the head and body is dark reddish brown to grey, but it is densely speckled with tiny white spots, these sometimes merge to form a network pattern in larger individuals, the outer part of the pectoral fin is yellowish. The juveniles are bright yellow and are covered in small blue-white spots. This species attains a total length of and a maxim,um weight of .
Some of the old polypide is recycled, but much of it remains as a large mass of dying cells containing accumulated wastes, and this is compressed into a "brown body". When the degeneration is complete, the cystid (outer part of the animal) produces a new polypide, and the brown body remains in the coelom, or in the stomach of the new polypide and is expelled next time the animal defecates.
Stirrup sample Stirrups form the outer part of a rebar cage. Stirrups are usually rectangular in beams, and circular in piers and are placed at regular intervals along a column or beam to secure the structural rebar and prevent it from shifting out of position during concrete placement. The main usage for stirrups or ties is to increase the shear capacity of reinforced concrete component it is included in.
The Phoenix Dwarf has an inner part of young stars which is stretched in an east-west direction and an outer part of mainly old stars that is stretched north-south. The central region's rate of star formation seems to have been relatively constant across time (Martínez-Delgado et al. 1999). In 1999, St-Germain et al. discovered a H I region of about 105 just to the west of Phoenix.
First Nations peoples, such as the Coast Tsimshian people, regularly use Chamerlon angustifolium, most commonly known as fireweed, as sweeteners in Indian ice cream. They would also use the outer part of the stem as a whipper for the soapberries. The roots of the Fireweed gives off a bitter taste but the petals have a spicy sweet taste. The petals would be the part that is harvested for making sweeteners.
The wingspan is 12–13 mm. The forewings are blackish brown toward the base and along the costal edge. This color gradually shades into a light olive grey which covers the greater outer part of the wing. From the apical fourth of the costal edge runs a broad, reddish- brown streak obliquely across the tip of the wing to the tornus and outside this streak the wing is iridescent, metallic violaceous.
The puffins are stocky, short-winged and short- tailed birds, with black upper parts and white or brownish-grey underparts. The head has a black cap, the face is mainly white, and the feet are orange- red. The bill appears large and colorful during the breeding season. The colorful outer part of the bill is shed after the breeding season, revealing a smaller and duller true bill beneath.
Particularly, light striking the inner part of the mirror focuses farther from the mirror than light striking the outer part. As a result, the image cannot be focused as sharply as if the aberration were not present. Because of spherical aberration, telescopes with focal ratio less than are usually made with non-spherical mirrors or with correcting lenses. Spherical aberration can be eliminated by making lenses with an aspheric surface.
HD 10180 h is the largest and outermost known planet in the system. It is likely a Saturn-sized giant planet with a minimum mass 65 times that of Earth. On approximately the seventh day of development, the trophoblast (cells that make up the outer part of the blastocoel) divides to form two separate layers: the cytotrophoblast (the inner layer) and the syncytiotrophoblast (the outer layer). Using enzymes, the syncytiotrophoblast penetrates the tissues of the mother, then it attaches to these tissues by burrowing with long projections, breaking maternal blood vessels. The chemical reason why this process occurs is currently unknown.
All Cerberilla species have a broad foot and the cerata are numerous, arranged in transverse rows across the body. In this species the body is mostly translucent white with a pinkish hue on the head. The digestive gland is darker pink. The tips of the rhinophores and cerata are covered with opaque white pigment and there are white pigment spots on the outer part of the oral tentacles.
Infection begins when the surface glycoprotein ( SU) binds to the outer part of the mature, infectious virion to the receptor on the surface of the new host cell. As a result of attachment, changes occur in ENV. These changes lead to the release of the surface glycoprotein (SU)and the conformational regulation of transmembrane (TM). As a result, the fusion of the viral membrane and the plasma membrane occurs.
The trap consists of three major components: the main coil, the tuning device, and the protective device (also known as a surge arrester). The protective and tuning devices are mounted inside the main coil. A line trap may be covered with a bird barrier, in which case there are four components. The main coil is the outer part of the line trap which is made from stranded aluminum cable.
A rear motorcycle tyre for street use Motorcycle tyres (tires in American English) are the outer part of motorcycle wheels, attached to the rims, providing traction, resisting wear, absorbing surface irregularities, and allowing the motorcycle to turn via countersteering. The two tyres' contact patches are the motorcycle's connection to the ground, and so are fundamental to the motorcycle's suspension behaviour, and critically affect safety, braking, fuel economy, noise, and rider comfort.
The five petals are off-white, long and joined to form a bell-like tube with five lobes on the end. The two upper lobes have dark purple streaks and are long and smaller than the lower lobes. The lower middle lobe is larger than the others. The outer part of the petal tube and lobes are hairy and there is a dense hairy ring below the stamens.
Stora Hepokari lies in the Haparanda archipelago, the part of the Norrbotten archipelago that is included in the Haparanda Municipality. Stora Hepokari is in the outer part of the archipelago, about from the border with Finland. All of the islands in the Haparanda archipelago have emerged in the last 1,500 years or so, as the bed of the bay has risen due to post-glacial rebound following the last ice age.
Around 1900, when broken watchsprings were more of a problem, some pocketwatches used a variation of the going barrel called the motor barrel or safety barrel. Mainsprings usually broke at their attachment to the arbor, where bending stresses are greatest. When the mainspring broke, the outer part recoiled and the momentum spun the barrel in the reverse direction. This applied great force to the delicate wheel train and escapement, often breaking pivots and jewels.
The natural area is located on the outer part of the Magnesian Escarpment/Black River Escarpment, with the soil for the area being glaciated sandy loams, which sit on top of the Galena-Platteville dolomite cap and St. Peter sandstone. Inside the natural area is a flat-topped butte called "Gibraltar Rock." It sits above sea level and is the highest point in Columbia County. There is a trail leading up to the Rock.
Casein micelle consist of mainly α(s1)-casein, α(s2)-casein, β-casein, and κ-casein. Where hydrophobic α and β-casein are in the inner sub-micelle and hydrophilic κ-casein in the outer part. When the milk starts curdling, the curds are small, but as coagulation increases, curd size increases until the milk ends up with a tofu-like structure.Zeng J-chao (2008) Discussion on the Mechanism of Curd with Ginger Juice.
A theoretical protoplanet named "Theia" is thought to have collided with the forming Earth, and part of the material ejected into space by the collision accreted to form the Moon. As the Moon formed, the outer part of it is thought to have been molten, a "lunar magma ocean." Plagioclase feldspar crystallized in large amounts from this magma ocean and floated toward the surface. The cumulate rocks form much of the crust.
Joints of the human body The joints may be classified anatomically into the following groups: # Joints of hand # Elbow joints # Wrist joints # Axillary articulations # Sternoclavicular joints # Vertebral articulations # Temporomandibular joints # Sacroiliac joints # Hip joints # Knee joints # Articulations of foot Unmyelinated nerve fibers are abundant in joint capsules and ligaments as well as in the outer part of intraarticular menisci. These nerve fibers are responsible for pain perception when a joint is strained.
Melchiorites is a desmoceratid ammonite genus included in the subfamily Puzosiinae. Member species are characterized by an essentially evolute shell in which the early whorls are smooth, with sinuous radial or oblique constrictions but in which later whorls have feeble intermediate ribs on the outer part of the sides and venter. Melchioites is known from Lower Cretaceous of Europe, north Africa, and California. The type species, Melchiorites melchioris is from the Upper Albian of France.
The Beskid Dukielski Range is located within the outer part of the Carpathians, which is part of the Alpine orogenic belt. The Outer Carpathians fold and thrust belt, is subdivided into several nappes bounded by thrust faults. The mountain lies within the Dukla Nappe which is further faulted into smaller thrust sheets. The sequence that outcrops in this area consists of flysch type sedimentary rocks of Upper Cretaceous to Paleogene in age.
The fuselage was a rounded monocoque with the engine in a streamlined nose, its cylinders exposed for cooling. Its single seat cockpit was set back towards the wing trailing edge. The G-8 had a fixed tail wheel undercarriage with its main wheels on cranked V-strut axles hinged to the centre of the fuselage underside. Each wheel had a faired vertical shock absorber leg to the outer part of the centre section.
The forewings are mixed ochreous and white. There is an oblique dark ochreous fascia from above the dorsum reaching halfway across the wing, as well as a blackish crescent before the ochreous subterminal line and there are black dots along the termen. The hindwings are white with a small black discal spot, a faint irregular dark subterminal line and ochreous suffusion in the outer part of the wing in the middle and towards the apex.
The habitat consists of the Coquimban Desert, Central Andean Cordillera, Central Valley and Northern Valdivian Forest biotic provinces. The length of the forewings is about 8.5 mm for males and 8.5-9.5 mm for females. The forewings are dark brown, with grey and blackish brown scales and with reddish brown scaling along the cubital vein and on the veins in the outer part of the wing. The hindwings are brownish grey, with numerous brown scales.
If there are 8 players, everyone will put their name in the spaces on the outer part of the board. If there are less than 8, the name of someone else that everybody knows should be in the blank spaces. Then the grey token is placed on any name on the outside of the board. (It can not be placed on the challenge space.) The number cards are separated from the question cards.
The bay has an inlet between the Oksneset headland, just east of the village of Guvåg on the west side of the fjord and the Hellfjordklubben peninsula on the east side of the fjord. There are many islands in the outer part of the fjord including Storøya, Ramnøya, Torskøya, and Slåttøya. Further into the fjord lie the islands of Reinøya and Teistøya. Vestpolløya is a small peninsula near the head of the fjord.
The ground colour is light brown or white brown to reddish brown. The forewings, which exhibit a fine regular pattern of dark, finely serrated lines have a dark patch in the middle. Under the sickle, or on the outer part of the outer edge of the wing, there is a purple stain. From the wing tip, a clearly curved, dark brown band runs under the stain up to the edge of the wing.
Dozens of explosions resulted, but were eliminated by 1900 by the adoption of butt joints, plus improved maintenance schedules and regular hydraulic testing. Fireboxes were generally made of copper, though later locomotives had steel fireboxes. They were held to the outer part of the boiler by stays (numerous small supports). Parts of the firebox in contact with full steam pressure have to be kept covered with water, to stop them overheating and weakening.
NGC 4513 has a large and very faint ring that is quite separated from the main galactic disk. The disk is gaseous and counter-rotates with respect to the inner disc. The outer part of the inner disc exhibits a population of counter-rotating stars that may be related to the outer ring. The observed counter-rotation suggests that the ring resulted from the accretion of gas from the passage of another galaxy.
As a swept wing bends under aerodynamic loads, its angle of attack changes, causing undesirable effects. Vogt proposed that the direction of sweep be changed mid-span, so that the outer part of the wing would compensate for any bending of the inner part. The resulting W-wing was adopted for the P.188. The wing inner sections were swept back 20 degrees while the outer halves were swept 20 degrees forward.
Both the male and female are involved in the nest building. The male does most of the work, while the female perches on the shrub or tree where the nest is being built to watch for predators. The nest is built approximately three to ten feet above the ground. The outer part of the nest is composed of twigs, while the inner part is lined with grasses, dead leaves, moss, or artificial fibers.
Goniobranchus gleniei is a chromodorid nudibranch with a continuous, sinuous black or deep purple line all round the mantle, outside the gills and rhinophores. The outer part of the mantle is white with a faint submarginal grey line. The inner part of the mantle is golden-brown with irregular black spots.Rudman W.B. (1987) The Chromodorididae (Opisthobranchia: Mollusca) of the Indo-West Pacific: Chromodoris epicuria, C. aureopurpurea, C. annulata, C. coi and Risbecia tryoni colour groups.
HIP 57274 d is an exoplanet orbiting the K-type main sequence star HIP 57274 about 84.5 light-years (26 parsecs, or nearly km) from Earth in the constellation Cetus. It orbits within the outer part of its star's habitable zone, at a distance of 1.01 AU. The exoplanet was found by using the radial velocity method, from radial-velocity measurements via observation of Doppler shifts in the spectrum of the planet's parent star.
Between this building and the church was a parlour for receiving visitors. One door of the parlour led to the cloisters and the other led to the outer part of the Abbey. Against the outer wall of the church was a school and headmaster's house. The school consisted of a large schoolroom divided in the middle by a screen or partition, and surrounded by fourteen little rooms, the "dwellings of the scholars".
As a result, the orbital elements of the planets change fairly rapidly as they dynamically interact with one another. The planet's orbit has a low eccentricity, similar to the planets in the Solar System. The semimajor axis of the orbit is only 0.208 AU, less than that of Mercury in the Solar System. However Gliese 876 is such a faint star that this puts it in the outer part of the habitable zone.
Above the outer part of the Golden Gate, in a narrow guard passage, was founded in the 6th century the church of St Martin's. The door was defended by two octagonal towers since lost. The surface of each octagonal tower on the ground floor was about 60m, the inner diameter 8.53m, and the side 3.41 m. They were facing the main wall of the palace and the citizens were without a wall.
The forewings are pale buffy brown or gray brown with darker shading around the reniform and orbicular spots and in the outer part of the subterminal area. Adults have been recorded on wing in March and again from mid-August to mid-November in two generations per year.; ; 2014: A revision of the genus Protorthodes McDunnough with descriptions of a new genus and four new species (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Noctuinae, Eriopygini). ZooKeys, 421: 139-179.
In distally steepened ramps, a distal step is formed between the middle and outer ramp, by the in situ accumulation of gravel-sized carbonate grains (e.g., rhodoliths) only episodically moved by currents. Carbonate production occurs along the full depositional profile in this type of carbonate platforms, with an extra production in the outer part of the middle ramp, but carbonate production rates are always less than in the T-type carbonate platforms.
Once the embryo has divided into 16 cells, it begins to resemble a mulberry, hence the name morula (Latin, morus: mulberry). Within a few days after fertilization, cells on the outer part of the morula become bound tightly together with the formation of desmosomes and gap junctions, becoming nearly indistinguishable. This process is known as compaction. The cells on the outside and inside become differentially fated into trophoblast (outside) and inner cell mass (inside) progenitors.
This crown was excavated from Grave Six in Tillia Tepe, Afghanistan and is estimated to be from the first or second century. The style of the crown strongly suggests a Scytho- Iranian connection with Korea. The styling of the outer part of the crowns suggests a Korean connection with the Scytho-Iranians (Saka) and the people of the Eurasian steppe. The crowns are a uniquely Korean product and show no Chinese influence.
The inflammation of the ear usually lasts a few days or more, rarely a few weeks, and then resolves spontaneously and recurs at various intervals. Because of the loss of cartilage, after several flares cauliflower ear deformity may result. The outer part of the ear may be either floppy or hardened by calcifications of the scar tissue that replaces the cartilage. These cauliflower ear deformities occur in about 10% of persons with RP.
S/2009 S 1 is a "propeller moonlet" of Saturn orbiting at a distance of , in the outer part of the B Ring, and with a diameter of . The moonlet was discovered by the Cassini Imaging Team during the Cronian equinox event on 26 July 2009, when it cast a shadow long onto the B Ring. S/2009 S 1 protrudes north of the ring. The image was taken approximately from Saturn.
Beachrocks are located along the coastline in a parallel term and they are usually a few meters offshore. They are generally separated in several levels which may correspond to different generations of beachrock cementation. Thus, the older zones are located in the outer part of the formation when the younger ones are on the side of the beach, possibly under the unconsolidated sand. They also seem to have a general inclination to the sea (50 – 150).
The base of the petals (strictly tepals) form a tube long, which, unlike most others in the genus (but not C. hispida), is glabrous. The outer part of the petals are blue with bronze margins and spread outwards to form a papery, star-like pattern which fades to white with age. In the centre of the star are six yellow stamens forming a tube which turns orange-red with age. The thin style sometimes extends beyond the stamens.
The yew is male, however in 2015 scientists from the Royal Botanic Garde, Edinburgh reported that one small branch on the outer part of the crown had changed sex and begun to bear a small group of berries, an occurrence occasionally noted in some dioecious plant species, including yews. This is possibly as a result of environmental stress. The seeds have been preserved for study and will be used to help maintain genetic diversity in yews.
The fracture surfaces on the outer part of the left wing were examined by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research at its Division of Aeronautics in Melbourne. These examinations determined that separation of the left wing was initiated by metal fatigue of the lower main spar boom attachment socket. The primary structure of the Stinson was of welded steel tube construction. A fatigue crack had initiated in weld metal on the inner surface of the socket.
Leptoid (bony-ridge) scales are found on higher-order bony fish, the teleosts (the more derived clade of ray-finned fishes). The outer part of these scales fan out with bony ridges while the inner part is criss-crossed with fibrous connective tissue. Leptoid scales are thinner and more translucent than other types of scales, and lack the hardened enamel-like or dentine layers. Unlike ganoid scales, further scales are added in concentric layers as the fish grows.
By far, the most popular tourist activities on the Great Barrier Reef are snorkelling and diving, for which pontoons are often used, and the area is often enclosed by nets. The outer part of the Great Barrier Reef is favoured for such activities, due to water quality. Management of tourism in the Great Barrier Reef is geared towards making tourism ecologically sustainable. A daily fee is levied that goes towards research of the Great Barrier Reef.
Many later gliders followed this form, though it is harder to build and has no solid aerodynamic justification. The trailing edges of the outer part of the wing carried broad and constant chord ailerons. The Fafnir's fuselage was oval in cross section, carefully streamlined with a ply skin and becoming slender behind the wing. The cockpit was just ahead of the wing and originally enclosed in a ply covered faring with only two side apertures for vision.
It should deter predators while resting, feeding, mating, or emerging from the pupa. The role of eyespots as antipredator mechanisms has been discussed since the 19th century. Several hypotheses are suggested to explain their occurrence. In some butterflies, particularly Satyrinae (such as the gatekeeper butterfly and the grayling), it has been shown that ocelli (eyespots) serve as a decoy, diverting bird attack away from the vulnerable body, and towards the outer part of the hindwings or the forewing tip.
During the First World War she assisted sick and wounded servicemen through the Red Cross and eventually established and maintained a recuperative facility for tubercular veterans in the grounds of Yaralla from 1917 until January 1920. However, she did not restrict herself to these philanthropic activities and regularly held parties for Sydney society members at the estate. In 1919 the outer part of the estate closest to Concord Road was transferred to the real estate firm King and Humphrey.
The inner halves of the span were rectangular in plan, each with a central part with 14° of dihedral and an outer part with no dihedral. These were braced from the fuselage keel with a single strut on each side to the spar. The outer wings had swept leading edges and semi-elliptic trailing edges entirely filled with the ailerons. The semi-monocoque fuselage of the Szittya was an oval section, ply structure built around frames and stringers.
The mycelial layer in the inner, very thin part (seen as a glossy lining on the fibrous layer of newly expanded fruit bodies) consists of a dense web of thin- walled, 1.5–4 μm wide, clamped hyphae. Thick-walled hyphae are also present, measuring 2–11 (sometimes up to 19) μm wide. The outer part (the mycelial cup) consists of thick-walled, branched and densely interwoven hyphae (often with a narrow lumen) that measure 1.5–4 μm wide.
The outer lip is on its outer part, inside the edge lined with mother-of-pearl, visibly furrowed.. On this part borders a white porcellanous coat, underneath standing out like a rib, on the base cut by two furrows. The throat is nacreous all around. The columella is compressed, flat, arcuate, produced into a sharp tooth below, and outwardly with a furrow parallel with its free margin. The color is black, with narrow white dense zig-zag curved streaks.
The implementation in a microscope is very similar to stimulated emission depletion microscopy, however it can operate with only one wavelength for excitation and depletion. Using an appropriate ring-like focal spot for the light that switches the molecules into the dark state, the fluorescence can be quenched at the outer part of the focal spot. Therefore, fluorescence only still takes place at the center of the microscope's focal spot and the spatial resolution is increased.
The hindwings in males are white, often with a slight pearly sheen and with fuscous shading confined to the veins and outer part of the wing. Some females have more extensive fuscous shading on the hindwings, but usually a pearly sheen is still evident. Adults have been recorded on wing in the south from April to late June and again from early September to early November. In the Pacific Northwest they fly from mid-July to late September.
These industrial enterprises were usually located in the outer parts of the city, where there was land and access to the rivers or canals needed to move heavy goods. The metallurgy industry established itself along the Seine in the eastern part of the city. The chemical industry was located near La Villette, in the outer part of the city, or at Grenelle. Factories were established to make matches, candles, rubber, ink, gelatine, glue, and various acids.
Acceptable side slopes were determined on a cell-by-cell basis, based on the strength of available materials and foundation movement. The slope of the outer part of the embankment is much smaller than that of the inner part, in a ratio of about 4:1. By 1997 Syncrude's large open-pit operations were producing up to 250,000 tons a day of tailings that were collected in this tailings pond built on the upstream construction method.
Ectoplasm (also exoplasm) (from the ancient Greek words ἐκτός (èktòs): outside and πλάσμα: plasma, literally meaning: that which has form) is the non- granulated outer part of a cell's cytoplasm, while endoplasm is its often granulated inner layer. It is clear, and protects as well as transports things within the cell. Moreover, large numbers of actin filaments frequently occur in the ectoplasm, which form an elastic support for the cell membrane. It contains actin and myosin microfilaments.
Buddhist Stupa, belonging to the era of Kshatrapas (built in the 2nd century), locally known as Vajir Panat No Kotho is in the forest three kilometres away from the village Hadmatiy up ghhyfyfhjhje ut uugpsjsidiua of Talala Taluka. It is located on the bank of the Sarasvati river. The outer part of the Stupa was built about the start of the Common Era which is built by burnt bricks. The inner part is filled with undressed stones.
Telphusa medulella is a moth of the family Gelechiidae. It is found in Panama.Telphusa at funet The wingspan is about 9 mm. The forewings are ochreous and dark brown in about equal proportion, taking the brown as ground- colour, there is an ill-defined ochreous band from near the base of the costa to the middle of the dorsum and then upward again across the outer part of the cell to the apical third of the costa.
Euomphaloid shells are mostly discoidal and may be either orthostrophic (coils wrapped around an erect cone) or hyperstrophic (coils wrapped around an inverted cone); are widely umbilicate and commonly have a channel, presumed exhalent, within the angulation in the outer part of the upper whorl surface. The shell wall is relatively thick, with an external prismatic layer of calcite, which may be pigmented, and an internal layer of lamellar, but not nacreous, aragonite.(1960). Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology. Part I, Gastropoda.
Caleana nigrita has a single smooth green or red leaf, long and wide. One or two greenish-yellow and red flowers, long and wide are borne on a stalk high. The dorsal sepal, lateral sepals and petals hang downwards with the dorsal sepal pressed against the column which has broad wings, forming a bucket-like shape. Two-thirds of the outer part of the labellum is covered with glossy black glands or calli and the labellum has a small hump at its centre.
The base of the body whorl has a groove delimiting the outer part of the siphonal canal. The colour of the shell is extremely variable, with distinct combinations of brown, black, yellowish or orange hues, most often with a paler band on abapical part of spire whorls and periphery of body whorls. Elsewhere it is arranged in bands or in spiral series of blotches, or uniform. The aperture is white with a highly diagnostic black blotch inside the siphonal canal.
The ezo red fox is somewhat larger than the Japanese red fox found in Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, and the outer part of the ear and the limbs are black. There are many similarities with continental red foxes. The ezo red fox has 42 teeth: 6 incisors, 2 canine teeth, 8 premolar, 4 upper molar and 6 lower molars. Ezo foxes normally have eight nipples: a pair on the chest; two pairs in the abdomen; and one pair in the groin.
Norddeutschen Flugzeugewerken (NFW) produced the Nordflug FB 1, designed by E.B Harder, in 1920. Its three part, two spar wing had constant chord over most of the span out to blunted, angled tips. The outer part of these tips rotated to provide lateral control in place of conventional ailerons. The central section, an integral part of the rest of the fuselage structure, was held above the hull by a pair of transverse W-struts directly joined longitudinally along the centre-line.
An alternative design with the flange on the outside designed to be additionally used with flanged wheels was unsuccessfully trialed on the Monmouthshire Canal Company's line shortly before reconstruction as a modern railway. This idea was taken up in 1861 by the Toronto streetcar system. Horsecars ran on the upper, outer part as edgerail with the wheel flanges on the inside. The edge rail formed an outside flange for a broad foot which allowed wagons to pass through the unmade streets.
The generator output 6.6kV 3-phase at 50 Hz to the ships motors. There were four closed air circuit water cooled synchronous A.C. motors, arranged with two per shaft. Previous USSCo vessels had traditionally had twin outward turning fixed pitch propellers, however Union Rotorua has twin inward turning controllable pitch propellers. This decision was made in the interests of maneuverability, since the center of thrust is in the outer part of the disk thus giving a larger turning moment arm.

The protonosphere is a layer of the Earth's atmosphere (or any planet with a similar atmosphere) where the dominant components are atomic hydrogen and ionic hydrogen (protons). It is the outer part of the ionosphere, and extends to the interplanetary medium. Hydrogen dominates in the outermost layers because it is the lightest gas, and in the heterosphere, mixing is not strong enough to overcome differences in constituent gas densities. Charged particles are created by incoming ionizing radiation, mostly from solar radiation.
The Survey of Western Palestine (SWP) noted in 1882 that: "The name Barriyeh, 'Desert,' applied to a village, is explained by the inhabitants to be due to their ancestors having about 50 years ago lived in Abu Shusheh, whence they were expelled by the other villagers, and had to settle in the 'Desert,' or 'Outer Part.' They own most of the gardens of Abu Shusheh at the present day. This information is obtained from Mr. Bergheim."Conder and Kitchener, 1882, SWP II, p.
The ears either have (1) a hole in the center or (2) an ovaloid shape with an extended curl. In the former style, the upper outer ear is formed into an ovaloid shaped with a hole in the center while the lower outer ear is formed by a lobe. On the other hand, the latter style explains the formation of the upper outer ear into an ovaloid shape with an extended curl going inside and the lower outer part consisting of the earlobe.
Though the MN-A and the Maillet 20 had much in common, one obvious difference was in the landing gear. Both designs had mainwheels on vertical legs from the outer part of the wing inner section but the earlier model also had diagonal V-struts from axles to lower fuselage, whereas those of the Maillet 20 were cantilevers, without struttage. The legs had Messier oleo shock absorbers and mounted the wheels in forks. Both legs and wheels were enclosed in fairings.
Keratoconus (a thin, cone-shaped cornea) and glaucoma (increased eye pressure) are also more common, as are refractive errors requiring glasses or contacts. Brushfield spots (small white or grayish/brown spots on the outer part of the iris) are present in 38 to 85% of individuals. Hearing problems are found in 50–90% of children with Down syndrome. This is often the result of otitis media with effusion which occurs in 50–70% and chronic ear infections which occur in 40 to 60%.
Former tenants of the southeast end anchor space were Lord & Taylor (1983-2004) and Nordstrom (2004-2020) and is now vacant. Dadeland Mall's largest restaurants are Villagio and The Cheesecake Factory. The outer part of the mall, particularly the original main entrance, was featured in the 1985 Chuck Norris film Invasion U.S.A. The inside and outside of the mall was featured in the 1990 Alec Baldwin film Miami Blues. The mall has been remodeled since both of those films however.
He reported a story of a "big, heavy land animal, with a single horn on its forehead" as a possible reference to Diprotodon;; pp. 3–7, 74, 224, 230–235. the presence of a horn on the rostrum of the species is not scientifically acknowledged. Skull of Diprotodon, showing the endocranial sinuses in blue, with the cranial vault in redThe skull of Diprotodon has large endocranial sinus cavities, which separate the relatively small cranial vault from the outer part of the skull.
Above are seven blind arcades that stand on capitals missing columns lying on menzolama. Above the arcade and the vaulted wreath of the main wall, there are five pedestrians, probably a pedestal over which unknown statues once stood. Through the outer part of the gate enters into the inner courtyard (propugnaculum) followed by the inner part of the gate. Above the outer and inner part of the door were the guard passages that were connected by the passages on the side.
The subbasal, antemedial and postmedial lines are very faint and indicated by paler lines bordered on each side by scattered pale-brown scales. The subterminal line is more distinct because of darker shading in the terminal area and the outer part of the subterminal area adjacent to it. The reniform and orbicular spots are slightly darker than the ground color and are outlined in white. The terminal area is darker than the remainder of the forewing because of more numerous gray-brown scales.
Cut setas have been observed with an unknown perpetrator. Small slugs from the Arion genus have also been observed scraping the outer part of the capsule to eat the spores inside. It is unlikely that slug herbivory has any benefit to B. viridis, and accounts for 30% of sporophyte loss. It is likely that the actual number of individual B.viridis plants are higher than the recorded number because it can exist as protonema without producing a sporophyte, thus going undetected.
The Scandinavian Mountains naturally divide the country into physical regions; valleys surround the mountains in all directions. The following physical regions will only partially correspond to traditional regions and counties in Norway. Southern coast: the southern Skagerrak and North Sea coast is the lowland south of the mountain range, from Stavanger in the west to the western reaches of the outer part of the Oslofjord in the east. In this part of the country, valleys tend to follow a north–south direction.
The granite of the Sidobre is a plutonic rock resulting from a Hercynian intrusion dated back (using the Rubidium-Strontium method) to 304 ± 8 Ma. The magma cooled down slowly and crystallised at a depth of 7.5 to 20 km. It eventually came to the surface with the erosion of the Cambrian metamorphic rocks. In the central part of the massif, the granite is a granodiorite slightly porphyric, hence its blue tints, while the outer part is essentially composed of monzonite.
Interior The presbytery is sectionalized by linear pear-shaped beam supports continuously merging into a baldachin vault. The entrance into the presbytery is provided with an arch of triumph, taller than the presbytery itself. The difference of heights is solved with a plane with representation of Jesus Christ as the judge at the Last Judgement. Into the sacristy and chapel lead two neo-gothic portals with linings shaped into pointed arch with crockets on the outer part and finial on the top.
Cases with symmetrical congenital notches in the outer part of each lid and defective development of the malar bones.. Trans Ophthalmol Soc UK. 20: 190–192. In the First World War he served as a territorial officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps with the rank of major. He established and was in charge of the ophthalmic surgery department at the 2nd Scottish General Hospital in Edinburgh which later became the Western General Hospital. He also acted as ophthalmic surgeon to the Craiglockhart.
The outer part of the tree, the sapwood, is unscented. The sapwood is white or yellow in color and is used to make turnery items. The high value of sandalwood has led to attempts at cultivation, this has increased the distribution range of the plant. The ISO Standard for the accepted characteristics of this essential oil is ISO 3518:2002.ISO 3518:2002 HPTLC and GC, GC-MS based methods are used for qualitative and quantitative analyses of the volatile essential oil constituents.
Graue Wand (2594m) in the Wattental The Wattental is a southern side valley of the Inn valley. The valley, through which the Wattenbach stream flows, is incised deeply into the quartz-phyllite rock of the Tux Prealps. The two dispersed settlements of Wattenberg and Vögelsberg (in the municipality of Wattens) sprawl across the outer part of the valley. At the head of the valley is the Wattentaler Lizum and its military training area of Lizum Walchen which is run by the Austrian Armed Forces.
A lymph node is divided into compartments called nodules (or lobules), each consisting of a region of cortex with combined follicle B cells, a paracortex of T cells, and a part of the nodule in the medulla. The substance of a lymph node is divided into the outer cortex and the inner medulla. The cortex of a lymph node is the outer portion of the node, underneath the capsule and the subcapsular sinus. It has an outer part and a deeper part known as the paracortex.
The space between layer I and layer VI is composed of a mixture of pyramidal cells and spindle cells with no significant number of granule cells. Pyramidal cells clump in the outer part to form glomeruli similar to those seen in some of the primary olfactory areas (Brodmann-1905). This term also refers to an area known as peripaleocortical claustral - a cytoarchitecturally defined (agranular) portion of the insula at its rostral extreme where it approaches most closely the claustrum and the prepyriform area (Stephan-76).
From circa 1855, the outer part of the road became known as Godthåbsvej after the country house Store Godthab, which had stood on the side of the road since 1770. The inner part of the street was renamed Rolighedsvej after Rolighed, another country house. The Classen Terraces in 1868 More houses began to appear along the inner (eastern) part of the road from the middle of the 19th century. The Classen Terraces were built for indigent workers by the Classenske Fideicommis in 1866-1880.
Caleana triens has a single smooth, dull green or dull red leaf, long and wide. Usually only one greenish yellow and red flower, long and wide is borne on a thin, wiry stalk high. The dorsal sepal, lateral sepals and petals are narrow and hang downwards with the dorsal sepal pressed against the column which has broad wings, forming a bucket-like shape. The labellum is flattened and only about one-third of the outer part of the labellum is covered with glossy black glands or calli.
The species relies entirely on vegetative means to reproduce, and is not known to have any sexual structures. From the center outwards, three color zones can be differentiated in mature specimens; the first grayish-green, the second white, and finally a bright red cottony rim. The lichen has a distinct prothallus—fibers of whitish fungal hyphae at the edge that lack photobiont, and which project beyond the thallus onto the growing surface. The prothallus is red to whitish in the inner part, red the in outer part.
Telluric currents are phenomena observed in the Earth's crust and mantle. In September 1862, an experiment to specifically address Earth currents was carried out in the Munich Alps (Lamont, 1862). Including minor processes, there are at least 32 different mechanisms which cause telluric currents. The strongest are primarily geomagnetically induced currents, which are induced by changes in the outer part of the Earth's magnetic field, which are usually caused by interactions between the solar wind and the magnetosphere or solar radiation effects on the ionosphere.
The Kestrel was Miles' first high powered aircraft and was an aerodynamically clean monoplane with cantilever wings and tailplane. It is not recorded whether it was named after a bird of prey, like many aircraft designed by F. G. Miles, or after its Rolls-Royce Kestrel engine. The Kestrel had thick wings, perhaps influenced by the experiments with the Miles Hawcon, with a root thickness to chord ratio of about 23%. They had inverted gull form, with anhedral inboard, giving way to dihedral on the outer part.
The African red toad is a fairly large species with adults reaching about in snout-to-vent length, females being slightly larger than males. The upper surface is reddish-brown with a pair of dark brown spots on the shoulders and another pair on the lower back. There is a dorso-lateral ridge with glands running from the tympanum to the back leg, and the outer part of this ridge is darker on its lower edge. The flanks in some individuals are dark and in others pale.
The actinofibrils themselves consisted of three distinct layers in the wing, forming a crisscross pattern when superimposed on one another. The function of the actinofibrils is unknown, as is the exact material from which they were made. Depending on their exact composition (keratin, muscle, elastic structures, etc.), they may have been stiffening or strengthening agents in the outer part of the wing. The wing membranes also contained a thin layer of muscle, fibrous tissue, and a unique, complex circulatory system of looping blood vessels.
In the outer part of the intermediate mesoderm, immediately under the ectoderm, in the region from the fifth cervical segment to the third thoracic segment, a series of short evaginations from each segment grows dorsally and extends caudally, fusing successively from before backward to form the pronephric duct. This continues to grow caudally until it opens into the ventral part of the cloaca; beyond the pronephros it is termed the mesonephric duct. Thus, the mesonephric duct remains after the atrophy of the pronephros duct.
The Jin and Southern Yan forces engaged near Linqu (臨朐, also in Weifang), while Murong Chao himself waited in the city of Linqu. Jin general Hu Fan (胡藩) made a surprise attack on Linqu, capturing it and forcing Murong Chao to flee. With Murong Chao having fled, Liu Yu engaged the main Southern Yan forces and defeated them, and Murong Chao fled back to Guanggu. Liu Yu followed and quickly captured the outer part of the city, putting the inner city under siege.
The Temple Scroll is written in Hebrew in the square Herodian script of the late Second Temple Period, and comprises 65 columns (19 pieces of leather) and is 9 metres in length.Johann Maier, The Temple Scroll (Sheffield: JSOT Press [Supplement 34] 1985), p. 1. The outer part of the scroll sustained considerable damage over the many centuries with the consequence that Columns 2 to 14 have many missing words and phrases. From Column 15 onward the inner part of the scroll is better preserved.
Some teams made changes to their vehicles for the event. Williams installed a revised gearbox unit and rear suspension bracket designed specially for the FW25. The team also fitted a revised specification of front wing, modified a terminal section of the car's bodywork and rectified a rear wing issue. The Ferrari and Renault teams introduced new specifications of rear wing: Ferrari's wing changes featured semi-circular holes in the outer part of its main profile to limit vortex and was used solely by Barrichello.
The slope is the outer part of the platform, connecting the reef with the basin. This depositional environment acts as sink for excess carbonate sediment: most of the sediment produced in the lagoon and reef is transported by various processes and accumulates in the slope, with an inclination depending on the grain size of sediments, and that could attain the settlement angle of gravel (30-34°) at most. The slope contains coarser sediments than the reef and lagoon. These rocks are generally rudstones or grainstones.
The Aomori Belt Highway primarily serves as a bypass of the central part of the city of Aomori. For planning purposes the city considers the area outside of the highway to be the "outer" part of the city. It starts at a junction with its parent route, the main line of National Route 7, near the Sannai-Maruyama archaeological site in southwestern Aomori city. From there, it travels southeast towards Aomori Interchange, a junction between the Aomori Belt Highway and the northern terminus of the Tōhoku Expressway.
The forewings are dark brown at the basal part of the costa and yellow across the outer part of all of the basal area and on the postmedial, subterminal and terminal areas, including the fringes. The inner lower two-thirds of the basal area is pure yellow, and all of the medial area except the costa is yellow. The antemedial, postmedial, and subterminal lines are well marked (the last jagged) and the terminal line is indistinct. The hindwings are grey throughout without a discal spot.
A cauliflower ear deformity Inflammation of the cartilage of the ear is a specific symptom of the disease and affects most people. It is present in about 20% of persons with RP at presentation and in 90% at some point. Both ears are often affected but the inflammation may alternate between either ear during a relapse. It is characteristic for the entire outer part of the ear except the earlobe to be swollen, red, or less often purplish, warm and painful to light touch.
There is only one crossing: a car ferry from Støvåg in Gulen to Mongstad in Lindås. The islands of Byrknesøyna, Mjømna, and Sandøyna (as well as the mainland) lie on the northern side of the fjord. The south side of the fjord includes the island of Fosøyna and the Lindås peninsula lie on the south side of the fjord. There is a lot of ship traffic in the outer part of the Fensfjorden due to the large oil refinery and industrial area at Mongstad on the northern end of the Lindås peninsula.
Only beyond the channels did the conventional wings regain their mid-wing configuration. A 225 hp (168 kW) Continental O-470 flat six engine was mounted on slender vertical and horizontal struts at the centre of each the channels, on the mid-wing line. These drove constant speed pusher propellers. The main undercarriage was much shortened by mounting its legs on the outer part of the channel section; the Brigadier nosewheel was retained. The first of two CCW-5s flew on 13 July 1953 and was piloted by Walker Davidson at Oxnard, California.
The wing was in two parts, each with a rectangular plan inner section occupying about 40% of the span and a straight- tapered outer part which ended in rounded tips. The outer regions also tapered in thickness from below, providing mild dihedral, and their trailing edges were almost entirely filled by narrow chord, unbalanced ailerons. The wing was a wholly wooden structure built around two box spars and covered with plywood. The upper fuselage was attached to the wing by pairs of N-form struts to the wing spars at about 30% span.
Each lobe is associated with one or two specialised functions though there is some functional overlap between them. The surface of the brain is folded into ridges (gyri) and grooves (sulci), many of which are named, usually according to their position, such as the frontal gyrus of the frontal lobe or the central sulcus separating the central regions of the hemispheres. There are many small variations in the secondary and tertiary folds. The outer part of the cerebrum is the cerebral cortex, made up of grey matter arranged in layers.
There are two dots on the basal part of the costa and one in the cell, as well as a spot at the apex of the cell and a streak on the outer part of vein 1. These spots are dark brown. There is also an oblique dark brown transverse line crosses the wing in the postdiscal area. The hindwings are white, clouded with brownish scales and with three dots in the basal part of the wing, as well as a line running in from the costa and a marginal row of dark brown dots.
The formation of cysts is induced by chemical factors and is accompanied by metabolic shifts, changes in catabolism, respiration, and biosynthesis of macromolecules; it is also affected by aldehyde dehydrogenase and the response regulator AlgR. The cysts of Azotobacter are spherical and consist of the so- called "central body" – a reduced copy of vegetative cells with several vacuoles – and the "two-layer shell". The inner part of the shell is called intine and has a fibrous structure. The outer part has a hexagonal crystalline structure and is called exine.
Figure 1: The luster effect is caused by interference effects of light reflecting off two layers of copper nanoparticles in the pottery's glaze. One of the earliest uses of copper nanoparticles was to color glass and ceramics during the ninth century in Mesopotamia. This was done by creating a glaze with copper and silver salts and applying it to clay pottery. When the pottery was baked at high temperatures in reducing conditions, the metal ions migrated to the outer part of the glaze and were reduced to metals.
The second is obtained on Winter from a frost giant, in one of the larger Ice caves. Spires houses the healing orb - an underwater city which Silver's guards are laying in ambush. Ruben's home contains the fourth (lightning), while earth and acid are found in Glass' palace or the Sewers respectively. Glass later reveals a hidden passage on Haven itself to get access to the time orb, while Atro (the outer part of Deadgate) awaits the player with the light orb, after killing the Queen of the Dead.
While the Moon orbits Earth, Earth rotates once in nearly 24 hours, but its position at the sky is only in one position, as it never changes. This is in contrast to some other moons or other satellites orbiting other planets or dwarf planets and a few asteroids, even inside the Solar System. They are, however, very rare in the outer part of the solar system. The last solar eclipse on the Moon was a total eclipse on January 20, 2019, with the entire near side and tiny surroundings of the far side seeing totality.
Hypotheses do not predict a merger stage, due to the low probability of collisions between planetary embryos in the outer part of planetary systems. An additional difference is the composition of the planetesimals, which in the case of giant planets form beyond the so-called frost line and consist mainly of ice—the ice to rock ratio is about 4 to 1. This enhances the mass of planetesimals fourfold. However, the minimum mass nebula capable of terrestrial planet formation can only form cores at the distance of Jupiter (5 AU) within 10 million years.
Caleana alcockii has a single smooth green or red leaf, long and wide. Usually only one greenish-yellow and red flower, about long and wide is borne on a thin, wiry stalk high. The dorsal sepal, lateral sepals and petals are narrow and hang downwards with the dorsal sepal pressed against the column which has broad wings, forming a bucket-like shape. About one-third of the outer part of the labellum is covered with glossy black glands or calli and the labellum has a prominent hump at its centre.
The broad-billed duck orchid was first formally described in 2006 by Stephen Hopper and Andrew Brown who gave it the name Paracaleana triens. The type specimen was collected near York and description was published in Australian Systematic Botany. In 2014, based on molecular studies, Joseph Miller and Mark Clements transferred all the species previously in Paracaleana to Caleana, so that the present species became Caleana triens. The specific epithet (triens) is a Latin word meaning "third", referring to there being calli only one-third of the outer part of the labellum.
In the outer part of the intermediate mesoderm, immediately under the ectoderm, in the region from the fifth cervical segment to the third thoracic segment, a series of short evaginations from each segment grows dorsally and extends caudally, fusing successively from before backward to form the pronephric duct. This continues to grow caudally until it opens into the ventral part of the cloaca; beyond the pronephros it is termed the Wolffian duct. Thus, the Wolffian duct is what remains of the pronephric duct after the atrophy of the pronephros.
This is the fourth stage of tooth development which occurs between the eleventh and twelfth week of prenatal development. During this stage of Odontogenesis, the epithelial tooth germ forms a bell - shaped structure in the labio - lingual section and is characterised by the formation of the dental sac. The peripheral cells of the dental papilla undergo differentiation, growing larger in size and taking a columnar (uni-layered) form and are now referred to as Odontoblasts (the outer part of the dental pulp). This differentiation begins at the apex of the dental papilla, gradually extending downwards.
In the latter capacity he was responsible for the observatory's move from the old building in the centre of Stockholm to a newly built facility in Saltsjöbaden Observatory, which was opened in 1931. Lindblad studied the theory of the rotation of galaxies. By making careful observations of the apparent motions of stars, he was able to study the rotation of the Milky Way. He deduced that the rate of rotation of the stars in the outer part of the galaxy, where the Sun is located, decreased with distance from the galactic core.
Biomineralization generally affects the exocuticle and the outer part of the endocuticle. Two recent hypotheses about the evolution of biomineralization in arthropods and other groups of animals propose that it provides tougher defensive armor, and that it allows animals to grow larger and stronger by providing more rigid skeletons; and in either case a mineral- organic composite exoskeleton is cheaper to build than an all-organic one of comparable strength. The cuticle may have setae (bristles) growing from special cells in the epidermis. Setae are as varied in form and function as appendages.
The fjord is long and narrow and measures 60 km from its head to its mouth. Its greatest width is 15 km between Ólafsfjörður and Gjögurtá at the fjord's mouth, but for the greater part of its length it is mostly 5–10 km wide. The fjord is surrounded by hills and mountains on both sides; the mountains are taller on the west side, in the mountain range of the Tröllaskagi peninsula. In the outer part of the fjord there are no lowlands along the coast as the steep hills roll directly into the sea.
Astrid is the parent body of the Astrid family (), a smaller asteroid family of nearly 500 carbonaceous members. It is located in the outermost central main-belt, near a prominent Kirkwood gap, that marks the 5:2 orbital resonance with Jupiter, and divides the asteroid belt into a central and outer part. Astrid orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.7–2.9 AU once every 4 years and 8 months (1,700 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.05 and an inclination of 1° with respect to the ecliptic.
Stony beach at Drumcliffe bay Sligo Bay is opened between Aughris Head (South side) and Roskeeragh Point (North). The inner part of the bay is divided into three smaller bodies of water, hosting the estuaries of three rivers: Drumcliff, Garavogue and Bonet. The river Garavogue reaches the bay in its central part, named Sligo Harbour, which is divided from the outer part of the bay by three small islands: Coney, Oyster and Maguins. On the southern branch of Sligo Bay also has its mouth the Ballisodare River, near the village of the same name.
These nesting sites are close to the ground, usually 4–5 m in distance. Multiple combs are built in a pattern in which there is a uniform distance, known as the bee space, between each comb. There are two types of combs in a brood: smaller ones for workers and larger ones for drones, with worker cells averaging around 4.5 mm. Queen cells can be found on the lower edges of the combs, while honey is stored in the upper as well as the outer part of the combs.
Martian Manhunter and Stargirl awaken in the outer part of the Firestorm matrix, where they encounter someone who appears to be Jason Rusch, half of the duo that is Firestorm. Jason proceeds to inform them that he believes they are in a prison constructed by the Crime Syndicate, and offers to bring Martian Manhunter through the inner parts. There, Martian Manhunter realizes that the "prison" seems to react to each of its inmates, creating a different experience for each. He sees the different prisons of Wonder Woman, Shazam, The Flash, Superman and Green Lantern.
A lava balloon at El Hierro Lava balloons are gas-filled bubbles surrounded by a crust formed by lava; their gas content allows them to float on the sea surface. Observed sizes range from at El Hierro (Canary Islands) during the 2011–2012 eruption to about at Terceira on their long axis with rounded shapes. They have one or sometimes several large cavities surrounded by a crust. The outer part of the crust is highly vesicular and striated and has delicate flow structures that can be seen using a scanning electron microscope.
The circle and the square that are combined so dramatically in the atrium were considered to be the paradigmatic geometric units by the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius. He also noted that the human body is proportioned so that it can fit in both shapes, a concept that was famously expressed with a combined circle and square by Leonardo da Vinci in his drawing Vitruvian Man.The topic was repeatedly raised by Kahn in several projects. The outer part of the building, which houses the carrels, is built of load-bearing brick.
In Joseon era, this area was mainly part of Sutan Township of Bupyeong Dohobu or Bupyeong Metropolitan Prefecture. In 1895, Bupyeong Dohobu was downgraded to Bupyeong County, and it was merged with outer part of old Incheon City to form Bucheon County. On August 13, 1949, the eastern part was incorporated in the enlarged administrative district of Seoul and eastern part of Sosa Town of Bucheon County was incorporated to Seoul in 1963. This area remained in the jurisdiction of Yeongdeungpo until April 1, 1980 when Guro became a new district.
Metaphyseal dysplasia, or Pyle disease, is a disorder of the bones. It is a rare disease in which the outer part of the shafts of long bones is thinner than normal and there is an increased chance of fractures. Its hallmark feature is an abnormality of the long bones in the arms and legs in which the ends (metaphyses) of the bones are abnormally broad; the shape of the bones resembles a boat oar or paddle. The broad metaphyses are due to enlargement of the spongy inner layer of bone (trabecular bone).
Here they form two prominences called the medulla oblongatary pyramids. Below the prominences, the majority of axons cross over to the opposite side from which they originated, known as decussation. The axons that cross over move to the outer part of the medulla oblongata and form the lateral corticospinal tract, whereas the fibres that remain form the anterior corticospinal tract. About 80% of axons cross over and form the lateral corticospinal tract; 10% do not cross over and join the tract, and 10% of fibres travel in the anterior corticospinal tract.
It has flowers that are in diameter, ranging in colour from white, yellowish to grey purple, and violet. It has 2 pairs of petals, 3 large sepals (outer petals), known as the 'falls' and 3 inner, smaller petals (or tepals), known as the 'standards'.} It has fiddle=shaped falls, with a narrow section between the claw (section closest to the stem) and limb or blade (outer part). The claw is 2–3 cm long and 0.5 cm wide and the oblong or rounded limb is 1.5 cm long and 1 cm wide.
The primary beam is pulsed by a rapid deflection across a small aperture or by off-axis deflection, followed by a curved magnetic field to compress the pulse in space. There is very high accelerating fields at the sample (high extraction voltage and small (mm) extraction gaps) to reduce the initial energy spread of the secondary ions. Some TOF systems further compensate for this energy spread by using non-linear flight tubes. One such design has a curved electrostatic path so that the more energetic ions are forced round the outer part of the bend.
Mosaic of Jovian ring images with a scheme showing ring and satellite locations The upper image shows the main ring in back-scattered light as seen by the New Horizons spacecraft. The fine structure of its outer part is visible. The lower image shows the main ring in forward-scattered light demonstrating its lack of any structure except the Metis notch. Metis orbiting at the edge of Jupiter's main ring, as imaged by the New Horizons spacecraft in 2007 The narrow and relatively thin main ring is the brightest part of Jupiter's ring system.
The ring's brightness drops sharply just outward of the Metidian orbit, forming the Metis notch. Inward of the orbit of Metis, the brightness of the ring rises much less than in forward- scattered light. So in the back-scattered geometry the main ring appears to consist of two different parts: a narrow outer part extending from to , which itself includes three narrow ringlets separated by notches, and a fainter inner part from to , which lacks any visible structure like in the forward- scattering geometry. The Metis notch serves as their boundary.
Taiwan is a member of the Astrid family (), a smaller asteroid family of nearly 500 carbonaceous asteroids. The family is located in the outermost central main-belt, near a prominent Kirkwood gap, that marks the 5:2 orbital resonance with Jupiter, and divides the asteroid belt into a central and outer part. Taiwan orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.7–2.9 AU once every 4 years and 8 months (1,703 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.05 and an inclination of 2° with respect to the ecliptic.
A sample of output (without sound input) By interpreting an input musical waveform, the Video Music translates the levels of musical intensity and mellowness into colors and shapes that are output to a graphical display. The console is attached to an audio source and then operated by an adhesive-backed switch box that is glued to the back of a television display. Audio signal visualizations take the basic form of a two- part diamond. The outer part represents the left audio channel while the right channel is represented by the inner part.
As an Irish Terrier grows older, grey hair may appear here and there. The outer part of the double coat should be straight and wiry in texture, never soft, silky, curly, wavy, or woolly as might be expected in the Kerry Blue Terrier. The coat should lie flat against the skin, and, though having some length, should never be so long as to hide the true shape of the dog. There are longer hairs on the legs, but never so much as a Wire Fox Terrier or Schnauzer.
HIP 57274 d resides in the outer part of circumstellar habitable zone of the parent star. The exoplanet, with a mass of 0.527 , is too massive to be rocky, and because of this the planet itself may not be habitable. Hypothetically, large enough moons, with a sufficient atmosphere and pressure, may be able to support liquid water and potentially life. For a stable orbit the ratio between the moon's orbital period Ps around its primary and that of the primary around its star Pp must be < 1/9, e.g.
Its logo is a seal and has a thick blue edges coloring the ocean with a thin black rim on either sides, the club name is written on the outer part of the seal with the club's location on the bottom. Inside is a small circle coloring from the lightest aqua-white to light aqua and tourmaline and has a sardine in the middle, of which the sardine is one of the most fished seafood in the country and is fished in the area, in the middle is a football (soccer ball).
Diagram of the Milky Way's spiral arms The Norma Arm is a minor spiral arm of the Milky Way extending from and around its central hub region. The inner portion of the Arm is called the Norma Arm in narrow meaning. The outer part of it is identified either with the Cygnus Arm, which lies outside the Perseus Arm, or the Outer Arm, which is located farther away from the center of the Galaxy than the Cygnus Arm. The Norma Arm begins from the Galactic Core, and extends outward to a radius of .
Suddenly, the spacecraft zooms out through the outer part of the galaxy, sending them screaming, and the song starts when the screaming Michael pounds his hands on the capsule lid, shattering it. In the first verse, Michael is seen in the room where he is floating on gravity. Then, Michael is shown in a room with thousands of guitars where he breaks one while Janet sings the next verse. Then, it shows Michael dancing on the wall while Janet looks at her nail before playing a game of tag.
The dam is about 110 meters long and its top is approximately 5 meters wide. Its outer part is composed of roughly regular stones (2 to 3 meters long and 0.2 to 0.35 meters thick) while its internal part is made of a mixture of stone and wood. In order to consolidate the structure, molten iron was directly injected in some places. The dam was designed in such a way that it adjusts perfectly with the course of the river and is able to withstand risks associated with erosion over time.
Caleana labellum has a single smooth, dull green or dull red leaf, long, wide and usually withered by flowering time. Usually only one greenish-yellow and red flower, long and wide is borne on a thin, wiry stalk high. The dorsal sepal, lateral sepals and petals are narrow and hang downwards with the dorsal sepal pressed against the column which has broad wings, forming a bucket-like shape. About one fifth of the outer part of the labellum is covered with glossy black glands or calli and the labellum flattened.
PDF (accessed 10 April 2007) It is classified as a complex crater because it features a central uplift, a transition zone, and a ring graben (a ring-shaped trough in the outer part of the crater). Although eroded, the original rim diameter has been estimated at and the age is estimated to be less than 320 million years (Mississippian or younger). However, a 2010 paper suggested that the maximum rim diameter is . The crater is named after the Serpent Mound, an effigy mound, located on a plateau in Brush Creek Valley within the crater.
M-type carbonate platforms are characterized by an inner platform, an outer platform, an upper slope made by microbial boundstone, and a lower slope often made by breccia. The slope may be steeper than the angle of repose of gravels, with an inclination that may attain 50°. In the M-type carbonate platforms the carbonate production mostly occurs on the upper slope and in the outer part of the inner platform. The Cimon del Latemar (Trento province, Dolomites, northern Italy) represents the internal lagoon of a fossil carbonate platform.
The organisation purports that religions have both an inner dimension and outer. The teachings state that the outer part of the religion is the rituals and bodily worship while the inner religion is purification of the heart and souls to gain connection with God. In their beliefs, the inner religion is the core while the outer religion is like a "potato skin" Part of their claims is that the spiritual system within the religions today has diminished. They propose to "convert the hearts towards divine love" rather than to a particular religion.
The CDP is located in southern Gila County, just south of the city of Globe. It is bordered to the west by the Icehouse Canyon CDP, to the north by Pinal, and to the east by an outer part of the city of Globe. Six Shooter Canyon is drained by Pinal Creek, which flows north through the center of Globe and eventually to the Salt River near Theodore Roosevelt Lake. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all of it land.
The streamway in the outer part of the cave system that is formed within the Dolomitic Conglomerate is characterised by shallow loops linking low bedding chambers, or tall narrow passages, known as 'rifts', developed by phreatic solutional enlargement of fractured rifts. The streamway in the inner part of the system formed within the limestone is characterised by deep phreatic loops reaching depths as much as , with the water flowing down-dip along bedding planes and rising up enlarged joints. In the far reaches of the cave the passages descend to below sea level.
The outer part of the fjord was first surveyed by Carl Koldewey during the 1869–70 Second German North Polar Expedition. Koldewey named it Lindeman Bai after Moritz Karl Adolf Lindeman (1823 – 1908), secretary of the Association for German Polar Exploration (Verein für die Deutsche Nordpolarfahrt) in Bremen. Later, during the 1929–1930 Expedition to East Greenland led by Lauge Koch, more thorough surveys were made and the fjord was found to become narrow to the west and extend further inland, thus the water body was renamed "Lindeman Fjord".
The Paibi section occurs within the Huaqiao Formation, which consists of a thick succession of carbonate beds deposited in the outer part of the Jiangnan Slope Belt, and extends from the middle Cambrian through the Lower Ordovician. It satisfies all the geological and biostratigraphic requirements for a GSSP, is readily accessible, and includes chemostratigraphic, palaeogeographic, facies-relationship, and sequence- stratigraphic information. The section lies at an elevation of 774 metres. The evolution of Glyptagnostus reticulatus (an agnostoid trilobite) from more basal species of the genus Glyptagnostus marks the boundary.
For the people of Penglipuran Village, polygamy or having more than one wife is prohibited and considered taboo. If a person has more than one wife, he and his wives must move from Karang Kerti to Karang Memandu (outer part of the village). His rights and obligation as part of Penglipuran Village society is also revoked. After the person has moved, the villagers will build a house for them to live on but they will not be able to pass through public roads or enter the temple nor attend the traditional activities.
Their eyes are the most elaborate known from ostracods, and are better at gathering light than the eyes of any other animal (although the resolution of the image produced by the eyes is likely poor). It is thought that Gigantocypris use them to find bioluminescent prey animals. They are known to feed on other ostracods, copepods, arrow worms and small fish (primarily fish larvae). Exactly how they catch their prey is unclear, but studies show that the outer part of their mandibles can be extended out through the slit (opening) of their globular carapace.
In early 1991, during the development of a new housing project to the southwest of the site, a planning office noticed a feature of archaeological interest as the site was being cleared. Brighton Borough Council engaged the Field Archaeology Unit of University College London (UCL) to run an archaeological rescue programme, supervised by Miles Russell. The excavated area followed the length of a ditch, tangent to the fourth circuit, running northwest from the outer part of the 1932-1933 excavations. The ditch had been noted by both Williamson and Curwen in their pre-war investigations.
The inner part has extensive tributary fjords such as Aurlandsfjorden, while the outer part is connected by narrow sounds to neighbouring fjords. Near the coast the fjord mouth is bounded largely by low islands and skerries that are part of the strandflat. The inner end of the Sognefjord is southeast of a mountain range rising to about above sea level and covered by the Jostedalsbreen, continental Europe's largest glacier. Thus the climate of the inner end of Sognefjorden and its branches are not as wet as on the outer coastline.
This is typically larger than the core radius. The half-light radius includes stars in the outer part of the cluster that happen to lie along the line of sight, so theorists will also use the half-mass radius (rm)—the radius from the core that contains half the total mass of the cluster. When the half-mass radius of a cluster is small relative to the overall size, it has a dense core. An example of this is Messier 3 (M3), which has an overall visible dimension of about 18 arc minutes, but a half-mass radius of only 1.12 arc minutes.
Locator map of Arøya, Vestfold, Norway Arøya is a group of isles located in the outer part of the Langesund fjord in Norway. The isles, in detail referred to as Store Arøy, Lille Arøy and Vesle Arøy ('Big', 'Small' and 'Tiny' Arøy), are situated approximately midway between the towns of Langesund and Helgeroa in the municipality of Larvik. Arøya is a typical recreational cottage area for the population in the Grenland area as well as cityslickers from the Norwegian capital Oslo a 1,5h drive away. There are still a few families residing on the isles, where fishing is the prime source of income.
The iliohypogastric nerve is a nerve that originates from the lumbar plexus that supplies sensation to skin over the lateral gluteal and hypogastric regions and motor to the internal oblique and transverse abdominal muscles. The nerve emerges from the psoas major in the outer part of its upper border, and crosses in front of the quadratus lumborum to the iliac crest, running behind the kidneys. Near the iliac crest the iliohypogastric nerve then pierces through the transversus abdominis and divides between that muscle and the internal oblique muscle into a lateral and an anterior cutaneous branch.
Each cyme usually has three flowers entirely immersed in the fleshy part of the joint. The unisex or bisexual flowers are nearly always identical in size and grow in an outwardly symmetrical style along the stems. The flowers have three to four fleshy exterior parts that connect to the apex (highest part of the stem), one or two stamens (the pollen-producing reproductive organ) and an ovary with two or three parts that hold the pollen (the stigma). There is a lot of fruit found in the outer part of the flower, and the fruit wall has a membrane.
Modern reinforcing bar of 500 MPa strength can be made from expensive microalloyed steel or by a quench and self-temper (QST) process. After the bar exits the final rolling pass, where the final shape of the bar is applied, the bar is then sprayed with water which quenches the outer surface of the bar. The bar speed and the amount of water are carefully controlled in order to leave the core of the bar unquenched. The hot core then tempers the already quenched outer part, leaving a bar with high strength but with a certain degree of ductility too.
This nebula began to form about 200 years ago, and primarily consists of molecular gas. The outer part of the nebula is the result of interaction between rapid bi-polar outflow and the gas that was ejected when the star was passing through its asymptotic giant branch phase. The lobes are inclined about 24° to the line of sight. The energy being radiated from the nebula consists of scattered light from the star at the core, light being emitted from a compact HII region surrounding the star, and energy from the shock-excited gas in the lobes.
This outer part or detail of the consciousness is not even understood in physics, phenomenon of time, space and matter that is to say. The connection of the soul or rather its eternal and unchangeable part or layer of the whole consciousness to the world of time, space and matter is even further away from understanding except with symbols, and eventually later on, and only with self experience. Henry Goddard Leach (see references) described Einar Jónsson like this: :All things considered, Jonsson is unique in the world of art. :If he had any prototype they were the symbolic artists of ancient :Egypt.
Ommatidium: A – cornea, B – crystalline cone, C & D – pigment cells, E – rhabdom, F – photoreceptor cells, G – membrana fenestrata, H – optic nerve Ommatidia of a krill. The compound eyes of arthropods like insects, crustaceans and millipedes are composed of units called ommatidia (singular: ommatidium). An ommatidium contains a cluster of photoreceptor cells surrounded by support cells and pigment cells. The outer part of the ommatidium is overlaid with a transparent cornea. Each ommatidium is innervated by one axon bundle (usually consisting of 6–9 axons, depending on the number of rhabdomeres) and provides the brain with one picture element.
Themis is in an elliptical orbit around the Sun with an eccentricity of 0.1306 and an inclination of 0.76°. It has an orbital period of 5.54 years. The distance between Themis and the Sun ranges from 2.71 AU at perihelion and 3.55 AU at aphelion, with a mean distance of 3.1302 AU. Themis is part of the Themis family of asteroids, which is located in the outer part of the main belt. The family consists of a core of large objects surrounded by a cloud of smaller objects; 24 Themis is a member of the core.
These birds inhabit arid regions from the Canary Islands along the rim of the Sahara through the Middle East to Central Asia and Mongolia. Barbary falcons have a red neck patch but otherwise differ in appearance from the peregrine proper merely according to Gloger's Rule, relating pigmentation to environmental humidity. The Barbary falcon has a peculiar way of flying, beating only the outer part of its wings like fulmars sometimes do; this also occurs in the peregrine, but less often and far less pronounced. The Barbary falcon's shoulder and pelvis bones are stout by comparison with the peregrine, and its feet are smaller.
Tomb inscription of Burchard II, in the outer part of the Dom The rebuilding in the 12th century resulted, essentially, in the current cathedral. Around 1130, probably because of further damage to the building, Bishop Burchard II began the demolition of the church build by his predecessor Burchard I and the construction of a new church. The whole eastwerk with its towers and cupola were completed by him in the period up to c.1144. The nave and westwerk were erected between 1160 and 1181 by his successors, Conrad I and Conrad II. The latter consecrated it on 2 May 1181.
A panelled stone structure in the church, carved with processions of bearded and robed figures under arches, seems to reproduce details found in the Book of Cerne, a work associated with Bishop Æthelwold of Lichfield (818–830).Webster and Backhouse, Medieval European Coinage, p. 211. The panels, which may originally have been the outer part of a sarcophagus built to hold the remains of a high status person such as Saint Hardulph, are dated by their similarity to the illustrations in the Book of Cerne to the first third of the ninth century.Plunkett, "The Mercian Perspective", pp.
The Society holds an annual Rail Fair each Labor Day weekend during which trains are hauled by visiting steam locomotives brought in by truck. Ardenwood Historic Farm Regional Park is farm operated by the East Bay Regional Park District. The outer part of the farm is a modern organic farm and the inner historic core is operated using the farming methods of the 1880s to 1920s. In the very center of the park is the Patterson House and Gardens, a fully restored Queen Anne style House built in the 19th century by the farms owners, George Washington and Clara Patterson.
Juveniles tend cleaning stations where they service a broad range of clients, including jacks, snappers, morays, grunts, surgeonfishes, and wrasses. At the station the cleaner displays a fluttering swimming and when cleaning it touches the clients with its pelvic fins. The adult background coloration is black but the scales of the body, except those at the front from nape to abdomen, are rimmed with golden yellow. Furthermore, the pectoral fins have a broad orange-yellow bar, the dorsal filament is yellow, the chin is whitish, the outer part of the iris is yellow, and the eye is narrowly rimmed below with blue.
Ring Road had the main purpose of stopping the urbanization of arable lands by creating a barrier around the Greater Cairo region. It was unsuccessful, with the urbanization tripling in amount and the remaining arable land inside the perimeter being to all effects condemned to urbanization. There were also negative effects, like settlements being cut in two parts, with the outer part getting isolated. It also helped rich people create luxury urbanizations outside of the main city nucleus, following the example of American cities like Los Angeles and straying away from the European model of compact cities.
C is a service on the S-train network in Copenhagen. It serves the Klampenborg radial and the inner part of the Frederikssund radial, and also reinforces service on the outer part of the Frederikssund radial in high-traffic period. Service C is one of the base services on the network, running between Ballerup and Klampenborg every 20 minutes from about 5:00 to 1:00 every day. Between about 6:00 to 19:00 on Monday to Saturday it runs every 10 minutes, and in this period half of the trains continue from Ballerup to Frederikssund.
Kuna Crest Granodiorite (also called Granodiorite of Glen Aulin), is found, in Yosemite National Park, United States. The granodiorite forms part of the Tuolumne Intrusive Suite (aka Tuolumne Batholith), one of the four major intrusive suites within the Sierra Nevada. Of the Tuolumne Intrusive Suite, it is the oldest and darkest rock. The Geologic Story of Yosemite National Park (1987), "Rocks, the building materials," by N. King Huber: the oldest and darkest rock in the Tuolumne Intrusive Suite, accessdate: March 7, 2017 Kuna Crest granodiorite forms most of the outer part of the Tuolumne Intrusive Suite, on the edges.
A pair of Macroolithus eggs Macroolithus eggs are characterized by large size, measuring long, and by their particularly coarse ornamentation. Their microstructure is not well defined in the literature, but generally follows the typical elongatoolithid pattern: The eggshell is arranged into two structural layers (the mammillary layer and the continuous layer). The continuous layer forms the outer part of the eggshell; its eggshell units are fused together so that the layer appears to be a continuum. The inner layer, known as the mammillary, or cone, layer is made up of cone-shaped structures that form the base of the eggshell units.
A rather specific physical interaction between MWCNTs and cells was observed by electron microscopy suggesting that the cell wall (the most outer part of fungal and plant cells) may play a major active role in establishing a CNTs network and its stabilization. This novel material can be used in a wide range of electronic applications from heating to sensing and has the potential to open important new avenues to be exploited in electromagnetic shielding for radio frequency electronics and aerospace technology. In particular, using Candida albicans cells cyborg tissue materials with temperature sensing properties have been reported.
Calectasia obtusa is an undershrub with stilt roots 30-55 mm long but no rhizome. It grows to a height of about 50 cm with several short side branches. Each leaf blade is glabrous except at the margins, 4.5-8.5 x 0.5-0.9 mm, often pressed against the stem, the ends usually blunt and only rarely tapering to a short, sharp point. The base of the petals (strictly tepals) form a tube 7.7-8.8 mm long, while the outer part of the petals are wine red with blue margins fading to pale blue with age and spreading outwards to form a papery, star-like pattern.
Four wheel drive for heavy vehicles in this period was difficult and the Hathi used a complex arrangement of bevel gears to transmit drive through the steering joints of the front axle. Rather than the now–common system of articulated drive shafts to the front hubs (the shaft either inside an axle casing or external), fixed shafts were used. Shafts inside the axle casing carried power to the ends of the axle, then a bevel gear drove a short vertical shaft running through the steering kingpin. A further bevel on the outer part of the hub carrier (the part moving with the steering) drove the hub itself.
Outer part of the governor's office in the South Carolina State House in Columbia The governor of the State of South Carolina is the chief executive of South Carolina serving as its head of state and head of the executive of the government of South Carolina. The governor is the ex officio commander-in- chief of the National Guard when not called into federal service. The governor's responsibilities include making yearly "State of the State" addresses to the South Carolina General Assembly, submitting an executive budget, and ensuring that state laws are enforced. The 117th and current governor of South Carolina is Henry McMaster, who is serving his first elected term.
The costal edge is somewhat lighter than the rest of the wing. In the center of the wing is a row of three more or less pronounced longitudinal blackish streaks, one beginning at the base of the wing, the next on the outer part of the cell, and the third at the end of and outside the cell. These dark streaks are, however, not very constant, and in some specimens only the middle one is at all prominent. Around the apical edge is a row of ill-defined dark spots, with the intervals bluish white, and the entire insect has a faint violet or roseate tinge.
The ice can survive only in the outer part of the disk. A protoplanetary disk forming in the Orion Nebula The main problem in the physics of accretion disks is the generation of turbulence and the mechanism responsible for the high effective viscosity. The turbulent viscosity is thought to be responsible for the transport of the mass to the central protostar and momentum to the periphery of the disk. This is vital for accretion, because the gas can be accreted by the central protostar only if it loses most of its angular momentum, which must be carried away by the small part of the gas drifting outwards.
Its logo has a blue coloured seal with a thick white rim in the outer part and a small one in the middle, inside are two white shrimps guarding the football, on top is the club name and on the bottom is the club's foundation year. The older logo used up to the 2000s had a white seal with a thick red rim that is lighter on the bottom nearly to purple, along with its thick square inside, inside had a smaller circle with the letter "V" and the club name, first written in the Frenchified form of "Wallidane" and on the bottom "Gambian FC".
The South Arabian Air Force (as an air corps of the Federation of South Arabia under British protection) was supported by the British and received BAC Strikemaster Mk 81s, De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beavers, Jet Provost Mk52As and Bell 47G helicopters. The PRSY/PDRY AF (as an air corps of independent Southern Yemen after Nov. 1967) aircraft markings were a light blue triangle with a dark outer part and a red star in the centre while the fin-flash consisted of a flag in the national tricolour with a blue triangle bearing a red star. This was used as the fin-flash until the unification of Yemen in 1990.
Nishinomaru and Fukiage, residences of the three Tokugawa families (17th century) The was the location of the palaces and residences of the retired shōgun and the heir-apparent for a while. The outer part of the Nishinomaru to the east (today's Outer Gardens of the Imperial Palace) was the site of various residences of daimyōs. The Nishinomaru is bordered by moats to the west such as the Dōkan-bori, Sakurada- bori and Gaisen-bori to the south, Kikyō-bori and Hamaguri-bori to the north. After each fire in the Honmaru, the shōgun normally moved into the Nishinomaru, although it was also destroyed by fire in 1853.
In the plastic variety it is much thinner than the surrounding material; if made of wood it is partially pre-cut so that it is easier to punch out. Some time before the cask is to be served, the end of the tap is placed against this weakened section and, with the aid of a mallet, driven through it. The shaft of the tap is tapered, so that as it is forced in fully it seals against the undisturbed outer part of the keystone. A small amount of beer may leak out during this process, but with sufficient skill and firm action with the mallet, no spillage at all can occur.
Histology suggests that UMZC T836 may have reached skeletal maturity, as closely spaced growth marks are present in the lamellar-zonal bone of the outer part of the cortex. It is not known why the outermost thin layer of bone directly below the external bone surface does not show these marks, interpreted as an outer circumferential layer. If they are truly absent, not simply obscured, this would argue against such interpretation indicating that this individual had a prolonged period in life of several years as an adult in which it experienced unfavorable growth conditions, like nutritional shortage, drought or disease, leading to limited growth. Ezcurra et al.
Schematic illustrating the formation of Jupiter's rings The dust is constantly being removed from the main ring by a combination of Poynting–Robertson drag and electromagnetic forces from the Jovian magnetosphere. Volatile materials, for example ices, evaporate quickly. The lifetime of dust particles in the ring is from 100 to , so the dust must be continuously replenished in the collisions between large bodies with sizes from 1 cm to 0.5 km and between the same large bodies and high velocity particles coming from outside the Jovian system. This parent body population is confined to the narrow—about —and bright outer part of the main ring, and includes Metis and Adrastea.
The bulge is X-shaped, that suggests that the galaxy is actually barred. NGC 5965 along with another edge-on galaxy, NGC 5746, were the galaxies used to confirm that peanut shaped bulge are associated with the presence of a bar, by spectrographically observing the disturbance caused at the velocity distributions of the galaxies. The galaxy features some level of disk disturbance, like a warp, as the outer part of the disk along with a ring-like dust lane appear to be on a different plane from the bulge, but it could also be a projection effect. When observed in K band, the galaxy features a stellar ring.
An underground vaulted ring passageway, only high ran around the outside of the keep, with similar covered radial passageways leading off to each of the bastions; the passageways are now ruined. A cobbled courtyard surrounded the keep, separating it from the external defences, and containing a well in the north-west corner. Underground passageways led from the entrance bastion to outside the castle walls, either to allow the garrison to escape in an emergency or to assault a besieging force. The outer part of the castle was defended by an octagonal wall, which linked the four stirrup turrets and bastions that formed the main defences for the castle.
NGC 592 is around ten times less luminous than NGC 604, a neighbouring emission nebula and one of the largest H II regions in the Local Group of galaxies. It is relatively close to the galactic centre of M33 and is located on the outer part of one of its spiral arms. The central region of NGC 592 is estimated to be 4.9 ± 0.5 million years old and have a stellar mass of 16500 ± 5200 M☉. Several massive stars have been discovered within NGC 592, including at least four Wolf-Rayet type stars. The nebula is also estimated to contain 8 ± 4 O- and B- type stars.
A MacPherson strut uses a wishbone, or a substantial compression link stabilized by a secondary link, which provides a mounting point for the hub carrier or axle of the wheel. This lower arm system provides both lateral and longitudinal location of the wheel. The upper part of the hub carrier is rigidly fixed to the bottom of the outer part of the strut proper; this slides up and down the inner part of it, which extends upwards directly to a mounting in the body shell of the vehicle. The line from the strut's top mount to the bottom ball joint on the control arm gives the steering axis inclination.
The development of the pronephric duct is a part of the development of the urinary system, and the development of the reproductive system. In the outer part of the intermediate mesoderm, immediately under the ectoderm, in the region from the fifth cervical segment to the third thoracic segment, a series of short evaginations from each segment grows dorsally and extends caudally, fusing successively from before backward to form the pronephric duct. This continues to grow caudalward until it opens into the ventral part of the cloaca; beyond the pronephros it is termed the mesonephric duct. Thus, the mesonephric duct remains after the atrophy of the pronephros.
The thyroid is supplied with arterial blood from the superior thyroid artery, a branch of the external carotid artery, and the inferior thyroid artery, a branch of the thyrocervical trunk, and sometimes by an anatomical variant the thyroid ima artery, which has a variable origin. The superior thyroid artery splits into anterior and posterior branches supplying the thyroid, and the inferior thyroid artery splits into superior and inferior branches. The superior and inferior thyroid arteries join together behind the outer part of the thyroid lobes. The venous blood is drained via superior and middle thyroid veins, which drain to the internal jugular vein, and via the inferior thyroid veins.
Its main ingredients are wheat flour, yeast, salt, egg, sugar, shortening (sdruttu), aquavita, brocciu, grated orange zest and olive oil. After dissolving yeast in some warm water, flour, eggs, aquavita are mixed into a dough, which is kneaded and left to rest one hour. Then brocciu is passed through a sieve and mixed with eggs, sugar and grated orange zest. The dough is rolled out as a disk, the brocciu mix is put on its outer part, then a hole is made in the middle and the edges of the dough are raised and pressed together enclosing the mix in it, so that a doughnut results.
Shortly after slightly weakening due to land interaction, Gafilo made landfall in the vicinity of Antalaha, Madagascar early on 7 March. Unlike other storms, the overland depression just weakened gradually, because of its unusually large circulation making the outer part still at sea. On that day, Gafilo tracked more southwestwards along the northwestern periphery of a subtropical ridge located to the southeast. Before noon on 8 March, Gafilo arrived at the Mozambique Channel as a moderate tropical storm whose strongest winds were located in the northern sector. On 9 March, Gafilo became almost stationary and then tracked southeastwards along the western periphery of a subtropical ridge located to the east.
There is a strait to the southwest, separating Hove from the islands of Merdø and Gjessøya, and northeast of Hove is Spornes, with a beach that alternates between a sandy beach and a pebble beach depending on the wind and weather. Tromøy Church and the Brekka farm stand further to the northeast. The entire area is characterized by a large moraine, which creates the natural basis for pebble beaches, sandy beaches, and large areas of Aust-Agder's best arable land. The outer part of the Hove area is part of a moraine landscape area with the protected Hove Woods (Hoveskogen), containing windswept Scots pine.
The M11 motorway passes through the east of the district, entirely to the east of the town. Harlow has its own commercial and leisure economy. It is also an outer part of the London commuter belt and employment centre of the M11 corridor which includes Cambridge and London Stansted Airport to the north. At the time of the 2011 Census, Harlow's population was recorded at 81,944 and its district had the third-highest proportion of social housing in England, 26.9%, a legacy of the 1947 commitment to re-house blitzed London families after World War II and provide a percentage of homes for other needy families who cannot afford market rents.
Although 47 Ursae Majoris b is outside its star's habitable zone, its gravitational influence would disrupt the orbit of planets in the outer part of the habitable zone. In addition, it may have disrupted the formation of terrestrial planets and reduced the delivery of water to any inner planets in the system. Therefore, planets located in the habitable zone of 47 Ursae Majoris are likely to be small and dry. It has been theorized that light reflections and infrared emissions from 47 UMa b, along with tidal influence, could warm any moons in orbit around it to be habitable, despite the planet being outside the normally accepted habitable zone.
The reed is whittled directly in the bark (idioglottic reed) after the bark has been thinned. A small ball of wax pressed onto the base of the reed is used to fine-tune the pipe to give the orchestra a homogeneous sound. The segment of the pipe which contains the reed is stuck into the wind-chest and the joint is plugged with beeswax. A finger-hole is drilled into the outer part of the pipe, and to finish off the instrument a bamboo cap is put over the other end of the pipe in order to attenuate the tone and produce a more velvety sound.
In Korea, the persimmons are peeled and dried, tied with saekki (rice straw ropes) and hung in sunny, well-ventilated place, for example to the eaves of the house. When the color turns brown and the outer part hardens, the seeds are removed and the persimmons are sealed again and flattened. After around three weeks, when the fruits reach 75% of their original weight, they are covered in dried rice straw and stored in a box in a cool place until the drying process is completed, and a white powdery crust of persimmon sugar forms on the outside. Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province is famous for its dried persimmons.
Sculpture of the cat The name is connected to an episode which occurred during the 1509 siege by the German King Maximilian I during the War of the League of Cambrai. According to legend, a cat was flayed alive to frighten the enemy with its screams. A sculpture of a cat jutting out of a niche was placed on the outer part of the tower facing Codalunga Street in order to commemorate this event, as well as symbolize the freedom of the people of Padua. The garden is so called because it was planned around the area where a monumental suspended tank with a circular shaped base was built.
The narrow lines are believed to originate from the outer part of the active galactic nucleus, where velocities are lower, while the broad lines originate closer to the black hole. This is confirmed by the fact that the narrow lines do not vary detectably, which implies that the emitting region is large, contrary to the broad lines which can vary on relatively short timescales. Reverberation mapping is a technique which uses this variability to try to determine the location and morphology of the emitting region. This technique measures the structure and kinematics of the broad line emitting region by observing the changes in the emitted lines as a response to changes in the continuum.
The inner part of the disk is either accreted by the star or ejected by the bipolar jets, whereas the outer part can evaporate under the star's powerful UV radiation during the T Tauri stage or by nearby stars. The gas in the central part can either be accreted or ejected by the growing planets, while the small dust particles are ejected by the radiation pressure of the central star. What is finally left is either a planetary system, a remnant disk of dust without planets, or nothing, if planetesimals failed to form. Because planetesimals are so numerous, and spread throughout the protoplanetary disk, some survive the formation of a planetary system.
This connection has been severed and the tracks are now used for storage. On November 26, 1931, a connection south of Chambers Street to the Montague Street Tunnel opened, adding two stations (Fulton Streets and Broad) and rerouted train service on the bridge's south side. Service on that side became relatively low afterward as the only trains that normally crossed it were The Bankers’ Special, which ran from either the Sea Beach and/or Fourth Avenue Line, crossed the Manhattan Bridge or Montague Street Tunnel into Manhattan, and then returned to Brooklyn via the opposite crossing. Since the tracks are on the outer part of the bridge, passing trains caused the structure to tilt and sway.
The wings were wire-braced from structures both above and below the fuselage frame, two transverse V-struts above, leaning together to form a pyramid and two below, joined to a longitudinal member that acted as a shock absorbing landing skid. The wires reached the outer part of each wing panel via a vertical kingpost mounted on the main spar and extending both above and below the wing. The very basic fuselage was just a horizontal, cross-braced wooden girder with the pilot strapped to the longerons at mid-chord and sitting on a bicycle seat held below the wings by wires. With legs extended for take-off or landing, his feet reached well below the landing skid.
It is one of the more promising candidates for potential habitability, as its parent star is a relatively quiet star, and has less mass than the Sun – thus it can live up to a span of about 30 billion years or so. Due to its mass, Kepler-62f is likely a terrestrial or ocean- covered planet. However, key components of the exoplanet still need to be assessed to determine habitability; such as its atmosphere if one exists, since it lies within the outer part of its host star's habitable zone. The discovery of the exoplanet (along with Kepler-62e) was announced in April 2013 by NASA as part of the Kepler spacecraft data release.
Davik Church Davik is a former municipality in the traditional district of Nordfjord in the old Sogn og Fjordane county (now Vestland), Norway. The former municipality existed from 1838 until 1964 and it encompassed all the lands surrounding the outer part of the large Nordfjorden on both sides of the fjord. Davik was located in parts of the present-day municipalities of Kinn, Bremanger, and Stad. The administrative center of the former municipality was the village of Davik which is located on the southern shore of the Nordfjorden, although some of the municipal services were based out of the village of Bryggja on the north side of the fjord, since that village was the largest village in Davik municipality.
Though attempts to cocrystallize the enzyme with a bound cinnamoyl-CoA have thus far been unsuccessful, molecular docking studies indicate that the CoA segment of these molecules folds around to bind along the outer part of the inter-domain cleft, while the phenyl-containing portion of these substrates likely binds in the deepest part of the cleft. This inner part of the pocket contains several amino acids with nonpolar side chains necessary for stabilization of the hydrophobic phenyl ring in addition to a tyrosine residue important for hydrogen bond formation with the ring's 4-hydroxyl group. The particular identities of the nonpolar residues are believed to play a critical role in determining substrate specificity.
Earth's magnetic field is produced by what is known as the core dynamo, consisting of an electrically conducting liquid, the nickel-iron outer core that rotates and is convecting. Venus is expected to have an electrically conductive core of similar composition, and although its rotation period is very long (243.7 Earth days), simulations show that this is adequate to produce a dynamo. This implies that Venus lacks convection in its outer core. Convection occurs when there is a large difference in temperature between the inner and outer part of the core, but since Venus has no plate tectonics to let off heat from the mantle, it is possible that outer core convection is being suppressed by a warm mantle.
The outer one is at earth potential and spreads the electric field in a similar way as in a cable terminal. The inner one is at high-voltage and shields the connector of the conductors from the electric field. The field itself is diverted as shown in figure 8, where the equipotential lines are smoothly directed from the inside of the cable to the outer part of the bi-manchet (and vice versa at the other side of the device).none none The crux of the matter is here, like in the cable terminal, that the inner bore of this bi-manchet is chosen smaller than the diameter over the cable insulation.
Many scenarios have been suggested to explain these subpopulations, including violent gas-rich galaxy mergers, the accretion of dwarf galaxies, and multiple phases of star formation in a single galaxy. In the Milky Way, the metal-poor clusters are associated with the halo and the metal-rich clusters with the bulge. In the Milky Way it has been discovered that the large majority of the low metallicity clusters are aligned along a plane in the outer part of the galaxy's halo. This result argues in favor of the view that type II clusters in the galaxy were captured from a satellite galaxy, rather than being the oldest members of the Milky Way's globular cluster system as had been previously thought.
Fort Vrmac is situated on Vrmac, a limestone ridge that rises to and divides the inner and outer part of the Bay of Kotor. It overlooks Kotor to the east, the Troica pass leading to Kotor to the south, and the Župa valley to the west. The fort is reached via a military road built by the Austro-Hungarians that runs over the top of the ridge from Troica to Gornja Lastva in Tivat municipality, or alternatively via a winding path that leads up the mountainside from Muo, a suburb of Kotor. Its position was chosen to enable it to support the outlying Fort Gorazda on the other side of the Troica pass and the Škaljari Battery to the south.
Three had now crashed with the loss of 17 lives, and the fourth would not be permitted to fly again. It was determined that the accident was caused by a fatigue crack in the main spar of the left wing that caused the outer part of the left wing, outboard of the engine nacelle, to separate from the remainder of the aircraft. The expert panel investigating the accident believed this to be the first fatal aircraft accident anywhere in the world directly attributable to metal fatigue. Stinson Model A in original trimotor configuration The accident and related matters were investigated by a Supreme Court judge who also found that the aircraft's left wing failed in flight due to a fatigue crack.
The biplane tail, found in other large aircraft of the time, was intended to reduce rudder forces; initially there were three rudders with only a central fixed fin. The undercarriage was fixed, with double tandem main wheels that were initially enclosed in very large spats. The wing had the usual Junkers "double wing" form, the name referring to the full span movable flaps which served also as ailerons in the outer part. D-2500 at Schiphol, showing the windows of the wing cabins On 2 February 1931 the Leipzig-based Junkers' yard re-engined the D-2000 with two Junkers L8 and two L88 motors giving a total power rating of 1764 kW (2366 hp) and increasing passenger capacity from 13 to 19.
The outer wings of both designs are straight-tapered out to elliptical tips and carry fabric- covered ailerons. However, the leading edge of the outer part of the S.25's wing is unswept over the outer 67% and the rest is reverse swept at about 11°. The straight trailing edge is parallel to the reverse-swept leading edge, continuing out to the tips. Both designs have airbrakes mounted on the rear of the spars, though the more angled drag struts of the S.25 allow its airbrakes to be wider. With the rear seat now ahead of the wing leading edge, only the forward part of the fuselage of the S.25 differs from that of the S.21.
Secondly, it consists of two straight lengths, angled at a few degrees to each other. Thirdly, the outer part is aligned towards the midwinter sunset position on a level horizon just to the left of Ward Hill on Hoy. Fourthly the inner part points directly at the Barnhouse standing stone about 400m away and then to the right end of the summit of Ward Hill, just before it dips down to the notch between it at Cuilags to the right. This indicated line points to sunset on the first Sixteenths of the solar year (according to A. Thom) before and after the winter solstice and the notch at the base of the right slope of the Hill is at the same declination.
This plastic was effective in lowering the concentration of the jet of shaped charges and in destabilizing kinetic penetrators. Hardened steel plates have become commonplace for outer part of spaced armors from '80s not only on tanks but also on APCs and IFVs. With these add-on armors even the APC's thin armor is sufficient against kinetic bullets of 12.7 (Stryker and BTR-80 upgrades) and 14.5 calibers (Bradley, BMP-3) and also provides some protection against IEDs. The increase of the number of layers in spaced armor increases the physical damage and destabilization of jets and kinetic penetrators, so it is common in more modern armor to use successive layers alternating between softer (air, aluminum or plastic) and harder (RHA, SHS) layers.

The cornified material of the hoof capsule is different in structure and properties in different parts. Dorsally, it covers, protects and supports P3 (also known as the coffin bone, pedal bone, PIII).
Cortical thymic epithelial cells (cTECs) form unique parenchyma cell population of the thymus which critically contribute to the development of T cells. Thymus tissue is compartmentalized into cortex and medulla and each of these two compartments comprises its specific thymic epithelial cell subset. cTECs reside in the outer part- cortex, which mostly serves as a developmental site for T cells. Precursors of T cells originate in the bone marrow from which they migrate via bloodstream into thymic cortex, where they encounter stromal cells including cTECs, which form the microenvironment crucial for proliferation and development of T cells by expression of DLL4 (delta-like notch ligand 4), cytokines IL-7, TGFβ or stem cell factor and chemokines CCL25, CXCL12 or CCRL1 etc.
During the discussions, it was indicated that whilst the sandbank could be removed by a variety of methods, it would not significantly improve access to the harbour, and that a harbour of refuge would be better on the Welsh coast. The committee's final report determined that along the whole of the rocky coast between Land's End and Hartland Point, Padstow was the only potentially safe harbour for the coasting trade when the most dangerous north-westerly onshore gales were blowing. It noted that Padstow's safety was compromised by the Doom Bar and by the eddy-forming effect of Stepper Point. The report recommended initial expenditure of £20,000 to cut down the outer part of Stepper Point,Reports from Commissioners (1859), p. xiii.
Alt URL It expanded at an early stage to include Wothorpe, which was split out civilly in 1866. The parish was divided again in 1889, under the Local Government Act 1888. The area of the parish which was inside the boundary of the municipal borough of Stamford became considered part of Lincolnshire along with the rest of Stamford, and retained the name Stamford Baron St Martin, whilst the outer part became the parish of St Martin's Without remaining in the Soke of Peterborough associated with Northamptonshire. The rump of civil parish was abolished in 1930 when all the Stamford civil parishes were merged to form one single Stamford parish (also taking in Stamford All Saints, Stamford St George, Stamford St John, Stamford St Mary, and Stamford St Michael).
Hastings Arm is a fjord on the North Coast of British Columbia, which is the northwest arm of Observatory Inlet, one of the two main branchings of Portland Inlet, the other being the better-known Portland Canal, which forms part of the Canada–United States border. Hastings Arm is approximately in length from the divergence of Observatory Inlet near the former smelting town of Anyox, where a east arm, Alice Arm, branches off towards its head at the mouth of the Kitsault River. This divergence is approximately from the mouth of Observatory Inlet itself, near Nass Bay, which is the outer part of the estuary of the Nass River. At the head of Hastings Arm is the mouth of the Kshwan River, and the Nisga'a village-site of Kswan.
The leading-edge cuff inboard vortex and wing tip vortex act both to remove the boundary layer of the wing's outer section, helping this low-aspect-ratio virtual wing to achieve a higher stall angle.Zimmerman, NACA TN 539, 1935 , "Aerodynamic characteristics of several airfoils of low aspect ratio". "The preservation of unturbuled flow to very high angles of attack ... is apparently due to the action of the tip vortices in removing the boundary layer that ends to built up near the trailing edge of the upper surface of the airfoil". An important point is that the wing seems to be aerodynamically split in two parts, the inner stalled part and the outer part that behaves as an isolated low-aspect-ratio wing, able to reach a high angle of attack.
Stimuli consisted of a disk-ring configuration similar to that illustrating the Troxler effect, but where the inner and outer part of the annulus have two physically different colours. After a few seconds of (peripheral) fixation, the disk tends to disappear, whereas the outer contour of the ring is perceived much longer, and the area of the disk is filled-in with the colour of the ring (Krauskopf 1967). These stimuli where intermixed with control stimuli, in which the physical colour of the disk was gradually changed to that of the ring. The animals were instructed to signal a colour change, and their responses to control stimuli and to test stimuli were compared in order to determine if monkeys perceive colour filling-in under steady fixation like humans.
The new company immediately started expanding the Lilleaker Line, first to Bekkestua and then to Haslum—establishing a depot at Avløs at the same time. The final extension of the line occurred on 1 January 1930 to Kolsås. From 4 January 1937 Bærumsbanen took over the operation of the Østensjø Line on the east side of Oslo, that was owned by the municipal Akersbanerne—allowing the company to operate through services from Oppsal to Kolsås. To shorten travel time on the outer part of the Lilleaker Line, the company received permission in 1938 build a line from Jar to Sørbyhaugen on the Røa Line, allowing the trains to use the Common Tunnel shared by the other suburban lines in the west to quickly reach the city center at the underground station at Nationaltheatret.
Allard described the proper lower lip position as slightly drawn in to rest against the lower teeth, as in pronouncing the letter "V," to cushion the reed without excessively dampening vibration. Pressure from the reed slightly spreads the relaxed lip, with the inner part slightly over the tops of the teeth and the outer part slightly protruding. Allard emphasized the role of jaw pressure in maintaining control of the reed, with slightly increased lip pressure toward the center of the reed optimal for tonal richness, and tongue position in controlling airflow (the soft "kihhhh"). Often quoting Douglas Stanly's "The Science of Voice," he said that keeping an open throat and a relaxed throat are contradictory. The summary of Allard’s approach to saxophone is to keep everything as natural as possible being careful not to interfere with head position, tongue position, breathing, or embouchure.
In December 2007, a team led by Johny Setiawan of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany announced discovery of a planet orbiting TW Hydrae, dubbed "TW Hydrae b" with a minimum mass around 1.2 Jupiter masses, a period of 3.56 days, and an orbital radius of 0.04 astronomical units (inside the inner rim of the protoplanetary disk). Assuming it orbited in the same plane as the outer part of the dust disk (inclination 7±1°), it would have a true mass of 9.8±3.3 Jupiter masses. However, if the inclination was similar to the inner part of the dust disk (4.3±1.0°), the mass would be 16 Jupiter masses, making it a brown dwarf. Since the star itself is so young, it was presumed this was the youngest extrasolar planet yet discovered, and essentially still in formation.
The frontal glands or organs of flatworms vary a lot in structure, and similar structures appear in small marine annelids and entoproct larvae. The protonephridia of nemertea and flatworms are different in structure, and in position – the flame cells of nemertea are usually in the walls of the fluid vessels and are served by "drains" from which the wastes exit by a small number of tubes through the skin, while the flame cells of flatworms are scattered throughout the body. Rigorous comparisons show no synapomorphies of nemertean and platyhelminth nephridia. According to more recent analyses, in the development of nemertean embryos, ectomesoderm (outer part of the mesoderm, which is the layer in which most of the internal organs are built) is derived from cells labelled 3a and 3b, and endomesoderm (inner part of the mesoderm) is derived from the 4d cell.
In 1924, Oort returned to the Netherlands to work at Leiden University, where he served as a research assistant, becoming Conservator in 1926, Lecturer in 1930, and Professor Extraordinary in 1935. In 1926, he received his doctorate from Groningen with a thesis on the properties of high-velocity stars. The next year, Swedish astronomer Bertil Lindblad proposed that the rate of rotation of stars in the outer part of the galaxy decreased with distance from the galactic core, and Oort, who later said that he believed it was his colleague Willem de Sitter who had first drawn his attention to Lindblad's work, realized that Lindblad was correct and that the truth of his proposition could be demonstrated observationally. Oort provided two formulae that described galactic rotation; the two constants that figured in these formulae are now known as "Oort's constants".
Measurements detail that both the Pacific and Eurasian Ocean water profiles are clearly offset from one another, an important facet of the hydrography of the Lincoln Sea. The Lincoln Sea has been found to contain water with three distinct properties. The first concerns the water in the inner part of the Lincoln Sea shelf, where the temperature and salinity profiles increase from the surface to the seafloor. The second involves the water covering the outer part of the shelf, including the slope; the waters here hold attributes similar to those in the Canadian basin and thus not unlike those from the Pacific. The third includes the waters north of the shelf’s slope. These waters protrude into the Arctic basin’s large-scale circulation, and so their characteristics appear to change over to those found in the Eurasian basin.
The pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito created in 1889, in honor to queen Margherita of Savoy a nationalistic pizza, where the colors of the Italian flag were represented by the mozzarella (white), tomato (red) and basil (green). Since then this pizza is called the pizza Margherita.foodlocate.com/blog/introducing-neapolitan-cuisine Pizza can be cheap and nutritious, so it had great success very quickly. Sometimes pizza is made in home ovens, but the real Neapolitan pizza must be cooked in a wood- fired oven, hand-made by an able pizzaiolo who makes the dough disk thinner in the center and thicker in the outer part; the ingredients and olive oil are rapidly spread on the disk, and with a quick movement the pizza is put on the shovel and then slid in the oven where it is turned around a few times for uniform cooking.
Assuming it orbits in the same plane as the outer part of the dust disk (inclination 7±1°), it has a true mass of 9.8±3.3 Jupiter masses. However, if the inclination is similar to the inner part of the dust disk (4.3±1.0°), the mass would be 16 Jupiter masses, making it a brown dwarf. Since the star itself is so young, it was presumed this is the youngest extrasolar planet yet discovered, and essentially still in formation.
They surgically remove it up to the place where the tail begins in large domesticated animals, but in sheep they continue to scrape away the outer part of the fatty tail (rump) towards its inner side which knocks upon the thighs, with the fat of the kidneys and the flanks, all that which is high up at the top of the fatty tail (rump), at the place where it excretes excrement, extending as far as the bones of the fatty tail (rump). Now beneath it there is a marked difference in the thin membrane between the said suet and the suet in the fatty tail, as well as between the "threads" (i.e. blood vessels and nerves) which draw nourishment from the fat of the kidneys and the flanks. Now they scrape away all the fat (suet) which is between the sinews (Heb.
In July 2015, Poundland agreed a ten-year lease on a 30,000 square foot unit on Corporation Street (following a temporary presence in a smaller unit in te centre). Burger King also agreed a 20-year lease on an 8,000 square foot unit that would become its flagship store in Birmingham city centre (relocating from a smaller and less prominent unit inside the centre on Martineau Way). In 2017, the West Midlands Metro was extended running past the northern entrance to Martineau Place, with the Corporation Street tram stop adjacent to the centre. In 2017, the owners of the centre secured flexible use categories for many of the units in the inner Martineau Way part of the development, which had seen higher vacancy levels than the main frontages on the outer part of the development, in order to ensure vacancies could be quickly filled.
Defeated by Gupta King Chandragupta II or Vikramaditya, about 56 BCE, they came back between twenty and thirty years later, and under Yeukaotschin founded a dynasty which in turn was, in the first century, overthrown by Indo-Parthians, mentioned as Parada in Sanskrit sources, whose power stretched from Sindh as far south as Bharuch. In the first century, Pliny's (77 CE) Odambari are generally taken to have been the people of Kutch, and Ptolemy's (150 CE) town of Orbadari to the east of the Indus to have been their headquarters. Ptolemy knew the Gulf of Kutch as Kanthi, a name still applied to the strip of land along its north shore, and to the Kanthkot Fort near the south shore of the Ran. About a hundred years later (246 CE) the author of the Periplus speaks of the outer part of the gulf of Kutch as Barake, possibly Dwarka.
Lead frames are the metal structures inside a chip package that carry signals from the die to the outside. Leadframe for a QFP package, before encapsulation DIP 16 pin Leadframe, after encapsulation and before cutting/separation Classically the leadframe consists of different parts; The central die pad part, where the die is to be placed, usually multiple bond pads, where the bond wires are placed to connect the chip to the outer part, and the leads, which are metal structures connecting the inside of the semiconductor package with the outside. Additionally there are mechanical connections to fix all these parts inside a frame structure, which makes the whole leadframe easy to handle automatically. The die inside the package is typically glued or soldered to the die pad inside the lead frame, and then bond wires connect the die to the leads via the bond pads.
The Barbary falcon differs in appearance from the peregrine falcon according to Gloger's rule. The genetic distance is slight and the species form a close-knit and somewhat paraphyletic group in DNA sequence analyses. In fact, some taxonomic authorities consider it conspecific. They differ more in behavior, ecology and anatomyNotably, the Barbary falcon has a peculiar way of flying, beating only the outer part of its wings like fulmars sometimes do; this also occurs in the peregrine, but less often and far less pronounced (Snow et al. 1998). The Barbary falcon's shoulder and pelvis bones are unusually stout by comparison with the peregrine and its feet are smaller (Vaurie, 1961), suggesting that hybridization has not affected the evolution of these traits. It was proposed (Vaurie, 1961) that the Barbary falcon also has an elongated middle toe, but this seems to be in error (Snow et al. 1998).
Papilio morondavana and Papilio erithonioides Expanse male 4 and 3/8, female 4 and 3/4 inches. Male. Upperside. Anterior wings marked nearly as in P. erithonioides, the basal third being densely irrorated with stramineous scales in lieu of the small spots or lines of the same colour arranged in nearly parallel rows in Papilio erithonioides. Posterior wings with the subbasal stramineous band broader than Papilio erithonioides, and on the costal margin extending rather broadly round the subapical ocellus, the outer part of the band between the costal and subcostal nervures being brightly ferruginous; the spots in the submarginal row are smaller and less lunulate outwardly, and the black spot at the lower end of the rufous anal spot of P. erithonioides is absent, the rufous spot of P. morondavana being rounder and paler; the space between the submarginal row and the band is more densely irrorated with stramineous scales. Underside. Resembles P. erithonioides, but paler.
Considering stars with Flamsteed numbers, Greek letters, and proper names, Omega Piscium at J2000 is, namely in the year 2000 was, the named star with the highest right ascension (akin to terrestrial longitude). Due to the 26,000-year movement of the Earth's axis tracing an imperfect circle (axial precession), it has since increased to just beyond 0 hours, which it reached in J2013. At the cusp of sunrise on the March Equinox in the present era the circlet appears just above the sunrise being the westernmost part of the asterism; the easternmost parts can be most easily seen after sunset, just above the sun on a maximal horizon, such as the sea. A month later the progress of the earth around the plane of the ecliptic (its orbit) by a mean 2 hours of Right Ascension (18° of orbit) means that the sun rises and sets in an outer part of Aries bordering Cetus.
The main altarpiece of the Charterhouse was carved in wood by artist Gil de Siloé and polychrome and gilded by Diego de la Cruz (whose gold came from the first shipments of the Americas after its discovery) Made between 1496 and 1499, is undoubtedly one of the most important existing works of the Spanish Gothic sculpture, by its compositional and iconographic originality and excellent quality of carving, valued by the polychrome. One of the most important elements of the altarpiece is the angelic wheel in which is framed the Christ crucified image for its beauty and significantly accentuated expressiveness by the work of polychrome of Diego de la Cruz. In the outer part of the wheel, are placed the figures of God the Father to the left and the Holy Spirit to the right bearing the rungs of the cross. In the bottom of the cross, the figures of the Virgin Mary and John the Evangelist complete the scene.
Both wing sets were built up around two spruce spars; the only novelty was that the rear spar was not straight but came in two joined sections, the outer part swept forward to meet the forward spar at the wingtip. The wings were hinged to the lower longerons and braced by a pair of streamlined steel tubes from spars to upper longerons. The wings of the Pixie I, long span and designed for fuel economy had a span of 28 ft 6 in and an area of , whereas those of the Pixie II, designed for speed had a span of 17 ft 10 in (5.44 m) and an area of 60 sq ft (5.57 m2). The engines were chosen to match the same purposes. For economy the Pixie I had a 500 cc Douglas horizontal twin and the Pixie II a more powerful 750 cc (the competition limit) engine of the same make and configuration. In 1924 it was flying with a 696 cc Blackburne Tomtit engine.
Variable stohiometries have been discussed but there are probably 2 KCNE1 subunits and 4 KCNQ1 subunits in a plasma membrane IKs complex. The transmembrane segment of KCNE1 is α-helical when in a membrane environment., The transmembrane segment of KCNE1 has been suggested to interact with the KCNQ1 pore domain (S5/S6) and with the S4 domain of the KCNQ1 (KvLQT1) channel. KCNE1 may bind to the outer part of the KCNQ1 pore domain, and slide from this position into the “activation cleft” which leads to greater current amplitudes KCNE1 slows KCNQ1 activation several-fold, and there are ongoing discussions about the precise mechanisms underlying this. In a study in which KCNQ1 voltage sensor movement was monitored by site-directed fluorimetry and also by measuring the charge displacement associated with movement of charges within the S4 segment of the voltage sensor (gating current), KCNE1 was found to slow S4 movement so much that the gating current was no longer measurable.
Small tubercles grow on the outer part of his first several pectoral fin rays and his body develops a pinkish-purple coloration.Lachner, EA. 1952. Studies of the Biology of the Cyprinid Fishes of the Chub Genus Nocomis of Northeastern United States. American Midland Naturalist 48.2:433-466. When the water temperature reaches 16°-19 °C he finds an area in low to moderate current, typically 0.5-1m deep and begins to build a pebble nest. Nest construction begins with the river chub male creating a shallow depression 0.5-1m in diameter by removing the stones with his mouth and depositing them on the lateral margins. Next, collecting a relatively uniform set of up 10,000 pebbles about 1 cm in size from as far away as 25m, he builds a short platform and then a 20–30 cm high circular mound with a central trough on the upstream slope. When a gravid female enters the trough he presses her against the side by placing his caudal peduncle over hers and lodging her head between his opercle and pectoral fin.
Depiction of sneering used in Darwin's The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animals A sneer is a facial expression of scorn or disgust characterized by a slight raising of one corner of the upper lip, known also as curling the lip or turning up the nose. In The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animals, Charles Darwin defined a "sneer" as "the upper lip being retracted in such a manner that the canine tooth on one side of the face alone is shown"Charles Darwin, The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animals, 1872, pp 249-250 Darwin related the sneer to the snarl observed in non-human animals, particularly carnivores, observing that: :The uncovering of the canine tooth is the result of a double movement. The angle or corner of the mouth is drawn a little backwards, and at the same time a muscle which runs parallel to and near the nose draws up the outer part of the upper lip, and exposes the canine on this side of the face. The contraction of this muscle makes a distinct furrow on the cheek, and produces strong wrinkles under the eye, especially at its inner corner.
Brodmann area 20 is a subdivision of the cerebral cortex of the guenon defined on the basis of cytoarchitecture. It is cytoarchitecturally homologous to the inferior temporal area 20 of the human (Brodmann-1909). Distinctive features (Brodmann-1905): area 20 is similar to area 19 of Brodmann-1909 in the relative abundance of small cell types relative to the number of larger pyramidal cells; a very dense, wide internal granular layer (IV) composed almost exclusively of granule cells, as in area 18 of Brodmann-1909; a broad, clear internal pyramidal layer (V) with few cells; and a distinct multiform layer (VI). The major differences from areas 18 and 19 are somewhat lesser cell density; absence of a division of the external pyramidal layer (III) into sublayers 3a and 3b; layer V is more clearly distinguished from layer VI and, on average, has a greater density of pyramidal ganglion cells than in the other areas; layer VI is wider, more diffuse and has fewer cells that are concentrated in the outer part of the layer to produce a denser sublayer 6a and a less dense sublayer 6b.
After Mariner 3 was a total loss due to failure of the payload shroud to jettison, JPL engineers suggested that there had been a malfunction caused during separation of the metal fairing exterior from the fiberglass inner lining due to pressure differences between the inner and outer part of the shroud and that this could have caused the spring-loaded separation mechanism to become tangled and fail to detach properly. Testing at JPL confirmed this failure mode and an effort was made to develop a new, all-metal fairing. The downside of this was that the new fairing would be significantly heavier and reduce the Atlas-Agena's lift capacity. Convair and Lockheed-Martin had to make several performance enhancements to the booster to wring more power out of it. Despite fears that the work could not be completed before the 1964 Mars window closed, the new shroud was ready by November. After launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 12, the protective shroud covering Mariner 4 was jettisoned and the Agena-D/Mariner 4 combination separated from the Atlas-D booster at 14:27:23 UTC on November 28, 1964.
